Idk if I'd put it like that necessarily. Like I've answered somewhere on the blog earlier (on mobile rn and can't find the post), the Omkara that Gauri meets is a whole different person from the one we meet in the start of the show. He's gone through hell and is understandably really fucked up in the head. (Not excusing his behaviour, just explaining it.) So whatever gyaan he gave Shivaay before isn't even remotely in his mind. It literally takes him until the Bareilly track to reflect on his actions thus far and come back to his old self.

I know you're not watching IB currently (good for soul), but from TT's posts it seems like there is an interesting discussion on parenthood. Moving away from that, I was reminded of Gauri faking her pregnancy last year. I remember Mais had written a really good essay on why Gauri was justified in doing what she did. What is your opinion on that whole issue? (I'm asking now, because I forgot to ask last time)

Hi friend,funnily enough I watched those parenthood related episodes because twitter stanned them like crazy and I was curious. But that’s not what you’re asking; you wanna know what I think of Gauri’s fake pregnancy (Mais’ post for reference purposes) if I read that right, yeah? Phew, yaar, bohot purani baat hai aur mera yadaasht thoda kamzor ho gaya hai.🙈From what I remember, I was not a fan of Gauri going down the fake pregnancy route because I personally have a problem with that trope in general, but I understood where she was coming from. I think it was more of a spur of the moment decision to say she’s pregnant, for rather selfless reasons, compared to e.g. Tia’s fake pregnancy and her evil scheme aimed (at that point at least) for self-enrichment purposes only. Gauri’s pregnancy was more like a white lie… a white lie that had a huge emotional impact on Omkara, like the anon in Mais’ ask said, but I agree with Mais that you always, always, aaaalways have to look at the circumstances, matlab Omkara and Gauri’s relationship at that point of time. Omkara hated to be in the same room as Gauri at that time, absolutely detested the sight of her and has told her so almost every chance he got, while Gauri was saving his family’s ass right and left. Excuse her for being thoooodi si inconsiderate of Omkara’s emotional wellbeing for a second. Plus, on a general level, if a dude is actually stupid enough to fall for the “you were too incluenced to know what you were doing” thing, (I think that’s what happened, right?) then I can’t feel bad for him whatsoever. Nope. By the time a guy is trashed enough to not know what he’s doing, meaning who he has sex with, there’s about a 1% chance he’s biologically even still able to have sex at that point of time. If he’s blacked out and actually doesn’t remember, then it’s rape, which would open another can of worms entirely. That’s one of the reasons why fake pregnancies always piss me off. It just doesn’t work like that, and if you fall for it then by all means, grow some brains or at least don’t act like the victim that didn’t have anything to do with it. I hate this trope and who’s to blame in which way, I really do… but to come back to the point, and without wanting to justify faking a pregnancy in any way,  I see why Gauri did what she did and can’t really hold it against her.
