THE NIGHT OF BARA`AH (NISF SHA `BAAN ) is between the 14th and 15th day of Sha`baan. Traditions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prove it is a meritorious night in which people on Earth are attended by special Divine Mercy. [Some will observe this Saturday night, others Sunday night. (Check your country) Both are OK] It is important to uphold these traditions, to spend it in total submission to Allah Almighty and refrain from any activities which may displease Him. Feed people, remember Allah ﷻ, remember His Prophet ﷺ, to pray its night and fast its day. One should remain awake this night and worship as much as possible. If unable, select a considerable portion of the night, preferably the second half. If a woman is prevented from praying/fasting (due to menstruation or forty days after childbirth), the angels complete her worship and present it to Allah. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE THIS NIGHT? READING SURAH YASEEN Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said the heart of Holy Qu'ran is Surah Yaseen, and Yaseen is the name of Prophet ﷺ, which means the heart of Qu'ran is Prophet ﷺ! Also, the heart of Yaseen is al-Fatihah, so when you recite Surah Yaseen on Laylat al-Bara'ah, you will be blessed. Allah ﷻ manifests His Beauty, Light and Knowledge on everyone who observes this night. After Maghrib or Isha prayer, we read Surah Yasin three times, after each time read a special dua with the following intentions: 1st reading is for long life. 2nd reading is for protection from calamities. 3rd reading is for not needing/relying on anyone but Allah ﷻ. SALAT AL-KHAYR Afterwards, at home or in congregation, perform 100 rakats prayed in sets of two rakats. In each rakat, recite one Surat al-Fatiha and ten Surat al-Ikhlas (total 1000 Surat al-Ikhlas). Some people keep track of rakats on a misbaha (tasbih, rosary beads). FASTING THE DAY OF BARA'AH Prophet ﷺ highly recommended fasting 15th Shabaan (mustahabb) and a vast majority of Predecessors of the Ummah kept this fast. ❤️

Honor The Night of Barā’ah
وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ الذِّكْرَىٰ تَنفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
(Qur’ān 51:55).
Allah ﷻ states in the Holy Quran: ‘And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.’ Allah ﷻ says to remind the Mu’mins (believers) as reminding people of Allah ﷻ is of benefit for Mu’mins. Dhikr again means remembrance. To remember Allah ﷻ and to never forget Him is what it means. Now in our time and even in other times, the common people were going about their own businesses. Now and in the past, they’ve had little idea of what’s going on in the world and they’ve had no idea of the hereafter. And to remind them, sometimes there aren’t that many opportunities and sometimes there are some holy times as the Three Holy Months now. All the people of the past would know of this but people of today have no idea about it.
There are certain holy nights and days. Now people in this country remember these nights but in other Muslim countries they don’t remember them at all. At least here, they mention them in the news and on TV, make Mawlid Sharif and such things. They make certain foods on these nights and people remember the holy nights and remember Allah ﷻ. When this is the case, shaytan comes in a different form this time so people would forget Allah ﷻ. He says: “This is not right. What you’re doing is a sin, it’s Bidʻah (innovation), the Prophet ﷺ didn’t do this.” Whereas this is the order of Allah ﷻ, ‘And remind’, Allah ﷻ says (Qur’ān 51:55). At least people on these nights remember a little bit about Religion, Iman (faith) and Islam. Even if in the lowest station, a little bit comes to their hearts on this holy night when they say Allah ﷻ and remember Allah ﷻ. It is of great benefit but of course shaytan doesn’t want this. He says that it is Bidʻah and it’s not acceptable. Why is it not acceptable? That night, they’re neither stealing anything nor drinking alcohol. At least people who do these kinds of things withdraw from it a little bit on that night. For the honor of this night, they get a little bit afraid so they say: “We’re not going to do it on this night.”
However, shaytan has such a way of doing things that today those who claim to be Muslims are causing more harm than non-Muslims. They do the harm that Kafirs (infidels) cannot do. Those who claim to be Muslims, these mindless ones are either Munafiq (hypocrite) or traitors, or they’re just mindless and foolish people who don’t know themselves; those who do this are as such.
Any kind of glorification towards Allah ﷻ is our duty. To honor things that remind us of Allah ﷻ is a duty upon us. Allah ﷻ states in the Holy Quran, Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim:
‘وَمَن يُعَظِّمْ شَعَائِرَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِن تَقْوَى الْقُلُوبِ’,
And whoever honors the symbols of Allah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.’ (Qur’ān 22:32). Honoring the things and people that Allah ﷻ has honored softens the hearts and who does this becomes a person of Taqwa (piety).
Therefore, tomorrow night insha’Allah is the Night of Barā’ah, the 15th of Sha'bān. It is both mentioned in the Quran and honored by our Holy Prophet ﷺ even if he didn’t do it in a gathering. Because when our Holy Prophet ﷺ did something in a gathering it was considered Fard (obligatory) therefore he enlivened this night by himself. There are many Hadiths and things that remind us of Dhikr and other things that are the worships of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. He did a lot of I’bada (worshipping). He did more on that night than any other night because it’s a holy night and there are signs to this that our Holy Prophet ﷺ pointed to. When it fits them, they accept the Hadiths and when it doesn’t, they do not accept the Hadiths. These people are nothing but harm, may Allah ﷻ guide them. May our night be Mubarak (blessed). Do not listen to them. May Allah ﷻ give their foolish minds some intellect. May Allah ﷻ give them all Hidāyah (guidance). Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.”
-Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adil Ar Rabbani (may Allah sanctify his secret.)
