Alright, Ojiro/Deku hows that for a rarepair? It all started with the Shinsou thing at the sports festival when Ojiro said when this for me. After Deku won Ojiro was really happy and Deku looked at him like "Huh....he's actually really cute" i don't think not a single person ships this but me they could be cute together. Ojiro training with Deku and Deku getting his ass folded by a martial artist but also Ojiro getting folded by Deku cause he's literally the strongest ever. Can we call the ship plain boys cause apparently in the mha universe Deku looks plain, has been called plain and Ojiro's room is plain as well apparently lol. They probably fell in love training together you can't convince me something ticked in their heads when a fist or foot collided with the others head or stomach. Ojiro is bad at cooking, he can only make simple things that don't require a lot of actual cooking.

Deku: "We are having katsudon"

Ojiro: "We had that 3 nights in a row."

Deku: "it's that, white bread or TV dinner"

They go shopping together always end up in the exercise section. Deku likes cuddling with Ojiro's tail it keeps him warm on a winter night. Ojiro is actually super shy when it comes to romance, Deku sort of is too so it's blushing covering their faces in the first part of the relationship but they slowly learn to contain themselves. They hold hands alot. They are a couple that rarely has any problems or arguments besides Ojiro asking Deku to please take care of himself but it never turns into a argument. Deku never would have guessed clothes shopping with Ojiro was this interesting, he's in on everything, he's asking questions. He's watching the people at the store prepare the pants with a tail hole for Ojiro or a sleeve and it's like the most interesting thing in the world to him. Ojiro is just looking at him cause this is normal. Don't know how they confessed but it had to be Ojiro who casually asked if Deku wanted to go out sometime.

Deku: "Oh! me?" and he's pointing at himself.

Ojiro: nervously laughs. "You're the only here."

Everything is just so natural for them to fall into, including each others habits. One time Ojiro is drunk at a part with Deku who hasn't had a single drink since he got here cause somebody told Ojiro he needed to relax and have fun at the party (probably Mina) and Ojiro said.

Ojiro: "i want to do taxes and laundry with you"

Deku: "What does that mean?"

He never answered him but he found out via Tsuyu like months later that it means he wants to get married, he freaks the fuck out cause he didn't even know he's married material. He brings it up and Ojiro says.

Ojiro: "Midoriya i was drunk!" half thinking it's funny half trying to understand why that's the take away Deku got from that time.

Deku: "Obviously! but did you mean it?"

Deku just takes somethings too seriously but Ojiro thinks it's cute.

I like the idea of them bonding over fighting together, cause very different styles but it would help both of them. And the idea that Izuku is plain is just absurd to me like this boy is beautiful but i digresskjdfjkdfk the people in the bnhaverse are crazy

wait i think it's kinda cute that deku could sleep hugging the tail or it's just there for warmth during the night; i also think they would be a very chill couple, like nothing to complain about

I answered number 10 here with rarepair rosekiller x lily. let's see how this looks with wolfstar, first war era. CW: war-typical trauma, deaths, grittiness, etc. once again i got lost in the lead-up sauce and the smut is more of an idea/some sexy lines :') happy ending tho (heh)

Ok i never write canon/first war wolfstar it's too depressing. BUT i think it gives us lots of delicious tension to have everything in the world so fucked up they stop caring about the consequences of outing themselves to each other (period-typical homophobia), or what would happen to their friendship, if one of them finally made a move.

We are deep into the war years. Lily and James have already gone into hiding. Neither remus nor sirius are home very often in their shared flat. They barely speak to each other these days.

benji has just been found in pieces.

You'd think by now they'd be used to it. the shock, another one of their friends gone in an instant. death surrounds them every day; they can't get more familiar with it. it's the air they breathe, it's the song in their heads that rocks them to sleep each night in their cold, separate beds.

yet here they are, well on their way to getting pissed on cheap firewhiskey, sitting on the floor of their small living room and not looking at each other.

not speaking to each other.

what words could they possibly say that they haven't each thought a million times over, like tickertape running nonstop behind their eyes. A litany of saints. Well, martyrs, at least.

They stopped believing they were saints a long time ago.

"fuck it." Sirius spits, his face cracking into some version of his old smile. he looks terrifying. Remus still thinks he's beautiful. "Truth or dare, moony mine?"

Remus nearly chokes on his firewhiskey. "i'm sorry?"

"what, you got something better to do?" Sirius grabs the bottle from Remus' hand, takes a swig. "truth or fucking dare."

"come on padfoot, i'm tired---"

"you're always tired"

"i just don't want to"

"you never want anything, anymore." and what sirius means, in a very small voice in the back of his head: you never want me anymore.

And despite everything, Remus still speaks fluent Padfoot.

"What kind of dares could we possible do anyway?---"

"Oh, I'm sure i can think of something" Sirius interjects.

"---we are stuck here, no where to go, very little magic we can do without giving ourselves away---"

Sirius cuts him off again. "Truth or dare, moony."

Remus grabs the bottle, glaring, utterly miserable but beneath that, a spark of something. nervousness?

"dare."

"Dare you to finish the bottle."

"If i do that we won't have any more to drink," Remus argues.

"Fair point. Dare you anyway."

"Fine." Remus finishes the last of the bottle, a good 3-4 shots worth of alcohol. He's not sure what the point of that was; Sirius isn't that drunk yet and honestly, his own werewolf metabolism can handle a lot more than this. This much alcohol will only just now start to hit him. Said metabolism makes your usual pain potions practically useless, unless he drinks the whole fucking flask, and at 10 galleons an ounce---

He stops that train of thought. He's been there too many times today alone. "Truth or dare," he says instead, and he finds he actually does feel a little more relaxed, a little more open, with the extra alcohol after all.

Sirius looks him in the eye. "truth."

If remus is shocked Sirius Take-the-Dare Black has picked truth, he doesn't show it, just holds the eye contact. "why don't you tell me anything anymore?"

Sirius answers immediately. "to keep you safe. Would you like truth or dare, Remus?"

Remus doesn't have time to even register he's saying it before his mouth opens automatically and "truth" comes out.

"Why don't you tell me anything anymore?"

And like before, Remus is answering before the thoughts even form in his head. "I'm scared. i'm scared i'm bad, i'll get you killed, i'll get you all killed, james and lily and harry and peter. we'll be next. and if i keep myself away from you, it's like, it's like i can protect you, or more, i can protect the idea of you. i could bear a lot but what i can't bear is losing who i thought you were." His mouth hangs open. a knot forms in his brow. "Sirius--"

"Ask me." Sirius' gaze is firm. unyielding. "Truth or dare."

Remus shakes his head, disoriented. "Sirius---" he tries again.

"Ask me." He shuffles up onto his knees, leans towards remus on all fours. A dog with a bone. "What do you really want to ask me, Remus?"

"Are you the spy?"

The answer is out of Sirius' mouth before Remus is even done asking.

"No. Are you the spy?"

Likewise, Remus' answer is immediate. "No."

and both their breaths are coming fast and shallow, and their hearts are roaring in their ears, and they just want to not be in their own heads for two goddamn seconds, and, well, Sirius was always the brave one---

"Do you want to kiss me?"

"Yes." Remus breathes. Just like that. 10 years of hiding this secret, from himself as well as everyone around him, and he gives it up. Just because Sirius Black asks.

Sirius' lip curls in triumph. He crawls closer, predator locking on his prey, and it's too hot and Remus is dizzy.

"Dare you," he whispers across his lips.

Sirius may be brave, but Remus has a kind of willpower that only comes with facing down the moon month after month.

"No."

Remus doesn't move to close the gap, but he doesn't move away either. Holds perfectly still, controlled, and the roles are reversed and the wolf is in charge and he's closing in on the dog--

"Not until you tell me, too."

---making him submit---

"Do you want want me the way i want you, Sirius Orion Black?"

Sirius' enthusiastic "yes" is more or less silent, as it's given to the press of Remus' lips.

OK HERE'S HOW THE SMUT GOES DOWN

They are going to take turns asking each other "do you want xyz?" and the other will say yes and then the other will say "dare you."

"Do you want to touch me?"

"yes."

"Dare you."

"Do you want to take off my shirt?"

"yes."

"Dare you."

"Do you want to put me on my back?" -"yes"- "open my legs?" -"yes"- undo my belt, pull down my fly? -"yes"- "reach your hand down my pants, touch my cock?" -"yes, yes"--

A beat, locked eyes, panting chests, kiss-swollen lips.

"Then I fucking dare you, Remus Lupin."

They take each other right there on the carpet, ten years' worth of hurt and love spilling out all over and inside of them.

And in Sirius' bedroom, tucked away where he keep his now-empty stash of alcohol--- an empty bottle of veritiserum.

prompt: Zoya/Alina, s1 rivals to lovers instead? so canon divergence, maybe whatever happens differently due to them falling in love?

hello! thank you so much for this wonderful request i sank my teeth into this one and it was such a joy to write this canon-divergent piece. i have a whole au regarding this fic so I'll just do a very quick plot summary. basically, zoya overhears a conversation between baghra and the darling regarding the latter's intent/manipulation of alina and rushes to warn her, but catches her fleeing the little palace. knowing that alina will most definitely not survive on her own (and consequently die, leaving the country without hope), zoya runs away with alina and the two of them hide out in the ravkan woods for a while as they try to get across the fold (they need to get out of ravka so that alina can train and stuff before she wrecks the fold). they eventually bump into nikolai, who offers to help them, and the rest of it is pretty much the same (except some divulgences as the whole amplifier debacle plays out differently). please enjoy this snippet of the beginning of this au! <3

She has got to get out of here.

There is nothing but trouble at the Little Palace, nothing but daggers carefully veiled and tucked away in the smiles of the people around her. The very thought of her being wielded as a blade by the very man she’d trusted– by the man she’d poured her trust into like water into a jug– manages to chill her to the bone despite the woolly kefta wrapped around her shoulders. The biting wind seems to spread from Alina’s insides, threatening to freeze her blood if she isn’t careful. She shivers despite herself and finds her gaze shifting downwards.

Spread out beneath her dangling feet is one of many gardens within the Little Palace’s sprawling structure; from the second-storey window she’s currently leaning out of, everything looks miniature; as if it’s part of an ant colony. She despises everything right now and wishes that Mal had never been drafted to go on that sandskiff, but now is not the time for hindsight and wishful thinking.

“It’s all in perspective,” she whispers, slowly inching off the ledge. Trust is what has driven her to desperation; desperation is what’s currently driving her to climb out of this stupid window, fear seizing her rabbiting heart. Shifting her weight so that she’s free to take a ginger step onto the roof shingles, she tries her hardest not to scrabble as she slides down the brickwork, one meticulously placed step at a time.

Alina has never been great at climbing: she guesses that’s why she loses her footing and all but scrabbles down the slanted surface, hands desperately clawing at the brickwork. She’s going to die here, she thinks, with hardly a single friend left in the world; she’s going to fall from this roof, break her neck, and–

She has never believed in miracles. Alina had learned a long, long time ago that hoping and believing and praying would never work in her favour: the Saints weren’t real, and the only… thing that she could rely on was her pluck. That’s why she decides that what happens then is not a miracle; it’s an act of goodwill from a person, not a Saint. A living, breathing person with a kefta of blue, her hands pushing a cushioning gust of wind upwards.

Landing in an undignified heap on the ground, Alina does not dare look up. She doesn’t want to see Zoya’s blazing eyes, her curled lip: Alina Starkov wants with all her heart to leave and never look back at the Little Palace. Fold be damned, she thinks: there is nothing left for her here. But life and fate have never been particularly kind to her, and Alina braces for the worst when Zoya opens her mouth.

“Well? Where’s my thank-you, Starkov?”

Alina blinks, and her eyes narrow. “I’m sorry?”

“I just saved you from certain death,” Zoya says slowly. “I think that deserves a thank-you of some kind; don’t you?”

“You’re not going to ask–?”

Zoya exhales and gives her hair a toss. Her outfit for the fete is nothing short of a feast for the eyes; dressed in a lightning-blue kefta trimmed with mink fur, Zoya looks like a queen. Something in Alina tells her to genuflect in some way: it takes everything in her not to crumble on the spot.

“I heard something,” Zoya admits, wringing her hands together. She glances over both her shoulders, and as if she’s letting Alina in on the darkest secret in the world, leans in and says, “The Darkling– he’s not what–”

“I know. He’s been—” Alina hesitates because it’s not real unless she says it aloud: nothing is. She takes a deep breath. “He’s been using me.”

“Oh, but you don’t know; not all of it, at least. Do you really think Baghra would've told you the whole truth?”

“No, but I’ve got to work with what I’ve got, don’t I?”

Zoya bites her lip and does another scan of her surroundings. “Have you a clue of where you’re going, Alina, or what you’re going to do?” A pause. “Don’t look at me like that. Tell me, before I make the mistake of sending the only hope this country has to her death.”

“I’m not–”

“You are. Don’t stand there with sunlight threaded in your hair and tell me that you’re not the lone candle in the rippling dark, Alina.”

“And so what if I am?” Alina exclaims. “It’s not like anyone else– they all see me as nothing but a weapon, Zoya, and since when did you stop thinking like that?”

“I never thought of you as a weapon,” Zoya says quietly. “Jealousy is a monstrous creature, Alina: I hope you never have to brush heads with it.”

It’s a funny idea to entertain, the thought of Zoya Nazyalensky being jealous of her. Animosity is a concept easier to understand; jealousy, on the other hand, is notched with nuance and partiality, a grey area that Alina doesn’t quite know how to navigate. She has been jealous of many people in her life; being the seed and origin of the feeling, however, is novel to her.

“You keep dodging my questions,” Zoya observes suddenly, before stating quite frankly, “You don’t have a plan.”

“I’m adaptable,” Alina argues. The beads of sand are rollicking down the hourglass, each one sliding downwards faster than the one before, and she needs to go; she won’t be able to breathe properly and rest her fraying nerves until an ocean separates her from Ravkan soil. “Zoya, if you’ve got something to say– let it out.”

“I’m coming with you: you’d be as good as dead, going off alone.”

Alina wants to be offended, but she feels more relieved than anything. Zoya is, to Alina’s chagrin, clairvoyant in her predictions. The two of them will be okay together; Alina’s never acknowledged miracles or saints, but what she does believe in is fate, and strings the colour of trickling blood.

“All right,” Alina finds herself saying. “All right.”

(A storm ravages through Ravka that night, one of fantastical proportions. Later, there are rumours of daylight gracing the darkest evening sky– some dismiss them as searchlights angled in the wrong direction, or shooting stars that’ve strayed from their trajectories. Others believe it to be the second coming of the Sun Saint, the one that the Darkling claims to be mourning.

Somewhere, the woods are aglow with the mingling brilliance of thunder and sunlight.)

Setsu/Yuriko/Raqio (Gnosia): if remraq was rare this combo is legendary +1. they are BOTH a crackship and a rarepair:

1) although they are all affected by the premise-induced timefuckery at some point, likely all come from extremely fucked up backgrounds (no way setsu isn't a child soldier + yuriko did extremely messed up neurological operations as a teen and is on the run from the shadow government AND has a bounty on her head + raqio is from a hypermeritocratic caste society where if you aren't smart enough you aren't considered a human being. every single one of them should get a 50% off therapy coupon) they never get a story cutscene together. diversity loss

2) in all my 1.5 years in this fandom i have met ONE (1) person who also shipped this. one. this isn't a shippy fandom in general tbh but i've seen more people draw a character hitting a boof than saying a peep about s/y/r

additional arguments:

3) it's nonbinary yuri (nb/f/nb) come ON there is nothing better than nonbinary poly yuri

4) i want to see them get into an argument

5) setsu can defo easily bench press the other two (please)

6) they look niceys together even though their designs are pretty different and not in the "intentional contrast" way

7) the aforementioned timefuckery makes this an uniquely delicious bond

8) if this gets in people will hear about this ship and these 3 deserve so much more :)

So I'll just repeat my initial propaganda for it (and add more):

FNAF 2 guard shipping is an art that has been drowned out by people forgetting that the FNAF 2 guards exist because some of the MCI kids share the same forenames. FNAF 2 guard shipping is fun; two adults in the same situation with completely different survival strategies. I love it.

They are like two sides of a coin; One survives the long haul, facing increasingly difficult challenges. The other gets tossed into the thick of it and somehow crawls out the other side despite no training or preparation. Honed skill / dumb luck. They make a brilliant dynamic.

Cecil Gershwin Palmer/Carlos Ramirez: I have seen *one* crossover fanfic with this pairing and it is absolutely genius.

So, Welcome To Night Vale (WTNV) has a main canon pairing, darling Eldritch radio host Cecil and lovable scientist Carlos. For the longest time, Carlos didn't have a last name and backstory. Also, as a STEM girl, let me tell you, his 'science' doesn't make sense.

So the genius author decided: okay, let me just grab a random Carlos from a different medium and put him in there. Except it's not random, and works super well! Enter: Carlos Ramirez, from the Dresden Files, and urban fantasy novel. This Carlos is a wizard. Who now has to somehow pretend he's a scientist. While secretly battling the Eldritch horros lurking in Night Vale.

The two of them are super cute and happy together, and it just makes waaay too much sense, the worlds and characters mesh super well. I can never unsee it. There is literally No content besides that one fic. It is perfect.

4. Something that suprised you (in how it turned, in how much people liked it, etc.)

5. Something you want other people to see.

1. This is one of my lesser read fics since it’s written for Robots in Disguise 2001, but I love how I set up Railspike in “Team Gossip Train”. His friendship with an elderly lady is precious, and I never actually intended for this to go anywhere. It was supposed to be some heartwarming fluff. But I’ve been getting motivation to write a fic that shows their friendship off a little more and I fully intend to follow up on that. I think it’ll be two chapters, and I’ve written a good chunk of chapter one. No idea when that’ll come out. But now you can look forward to it!

2. The most challenging series I’ve ever written has to be “Megatron’s Elite Trine”. I make no secret of the fact that I have not read IDW as a whole. I’ve seen whatever snippets and info dumps that cross my dash. I know about whatever “The Basics” talks about on Youtube. I’ve had lengthy discussions with my husband, who has read it extensively. But I myself am not completely and totally familiar with it like I am with other continuities. That and I had never written for a polyamorous relationship before. So this was new territory.

But seeing people are enjoying these fics provides me with a good amount of confidence. The characters and their interactions are becoming easier to figure out and write with each passing fic and I am enjoying myself. So overall, I’m satisfied with the results.

3. “Come Fishing” never fails to make me grin. I love Roddy and Ultra Magnus so much, and I really wanted to convey just how much fun their friendship is. It’s easy to write a stoic character who doesn’t laugh or smile, but that’s not who G1 Magnus is. He smiles and he enjoys a bit of fun, but his sense of responsibility usually has him by the reins. Roddy is that friend that makes it his mission to make sure Magnus gets a break now and again so he doesn’t work himself to death. His energy and enthusiasm is infectious and Magnus cherishes it, despite the fact that Roddy can be a bit overzealous at times.

4. Honestly, I am very surprised by how much traction “Decepticon Snippets” has gotten. It started out as fun little things to make the Decepticons seem less black and white, because as much as I adore G1, I like to venture away from the simple “they’re the bad guys and we’re the good guys” attitude. They’re all cybertronian. I wanted to have an excuse to dive into the Decepticons and flesh out their characters. And I’ve got a handful of rarepairs in there for my own pleasure. And then it developed a bit of a plot. And apparently a lot of people like it??

I planned on adding some OCs in there, but then decided it would make for better writing if I just made that story its own thing. I plan on making Astrotrain and Dead End an item once I get the motivation to continue it. But yeah, I’m always shocked whenever I get a notification showing that another person has added a Kudos to it. Because I’m still getting them, despite having not updated that one in ages.

5. I would absolutely love for “The Rise of Rodimus Prime” series to get more traction. It’s a passion project that my husband and I are both super excited to finish. This series is set in G1 and follows Rodimus and a trine of seekers around the galaxy, the initial trine being Redwing, Hotlink, and the conehead Sandstorm. As they go, Rodimus is trying to keep the seekers safe from the bounty that Galvatron put on their heads, while also uncovering a big mastermind plot with each encounter his group has against various antagonists.

The group gains more members over time and develops familial bonds with each other. The multiverse is also torn in some places, so there are more than a handful of bots that come from other continuities, such like: Robots in Disguise 2001, Shattered Glass, and IDW. This series will also be tied in to the third installment of “Maximo’s Legacy” when I eventually finish the second installment.

We also have a fic dedicated to showing how Hotlink’s character started out to show why we went the direction we did with him and provide some more insight on the mystery that Redwing is.

This is a very ambitious project and I cannot gush about this story or the characters enough. I know that I hardly ever post about them, but boy do I want to hold entire conversations with people about this!

Recently I am rlly liking my founded rarepair Quince x Bluefur. I've been thinking of a short story where Bluefur feels guilty and promises to help Quince find her kitten. In the end they probably mistake that Tiny is dead bc I don't want it to affect canon but they got very close during the journey to look for him in the city. They never get together but they are stuck in pining purgatory abt eachother forever<3

HOW THEY MET

They met in high school when Fukurodani and Nekoma were at a training camp together. They at first didn’t like each other, all because they were both just way too quiet and a bit awkward, so that gave the other the wrong vibe. Although, they did start hitting it off towards the end of camp and really liked each other. Sadly, they never got each other’s numbers, and they wandered through life always thinking about the other. They were reunited at one of the comedy nights Fukunaga was apart of and they just…smiled at each other. SHŌHEI has all sorts of bizarre nicknames for Sarukui, leaving them just baffled at the fact he just comes up with them on the spot. Little do they know, it has a notebook FILLED with random names it thinks of at 3 a.m. But the main nicknames are Ya-kui/Kui and Shō/Fuku <33

SARU is VERY clumsy, getting scrapes and bruises daily, so Fukunaga always puts those “kid’s” bandaids on the boo-boos like the ones with animals or Care Bears <333

KUI’S post-timeskip occupation says “civil servant” so I believe, with the help of Shō, they would become a culinary teacher at a high school.

I LIKE TO BELIEVE that Yamato dated Osamu during their college years (because I have a headcanon that they also went to culinary school) but they broke things off mutually after two-ish years as really the only reason they were “dating” was to not feel alone…Same with Fukunaga and Komori.

THEY HAVE THAT RELATIONSHIP where all they have to do is look at the other with a big smile and they are both rolling on the ground laughing. They have plenty of inside jokes that make them look insane in the eyes of society…but do they care? Not one bit.

NEITHER ONE OF THEM went to their school’s prom. Either cause they were too socially awkward, or they didn’t have anyone to go with, but they didn’t go. So now, that they are together, Fuku will randomly play a song while Kui is cooking and will make them stop cooking just to dance with it. Slow dancing always make them shed a few tears, but it always ends with them sneaking sweet pecks in between moves

FUKUNAGA loves affections, as physical affection is his love language, but Sarukui has a hard time adjusting to cuddles because they are more of a rambler than the huggy type. But kisses have always and will always be fair game!

I PERSONALLY LOVE PAIRS that are, or are very close in height as much as height differences! But…Yamato ALWAYS playfully banters about how much taller they are compared to it, only though they have one inch on him

FUKUNAGA is hard of hearing, and can only hear things that are really close to it.

SOOOOOOO, due to the headcanon above, the two hold hands EVERYWHERE they go. If they don’t, Fuku will wander off if he sees something cool, and Yamoto has a hell of a time finding it.

AS AN ANNIVERSARY PRESENT one year, Fuku had NO idea what to get Kui for a gift so it got them a panda bear teddy and now Saru can’t sleep without it

YA-KUI helps Shōhei write his material for when he performs for his comedy nights, and they always ends up laughing so much they are crying and often bring a few friends to listen in and give opinions as well

WHEN THEY FINALLY move in together, Fuku had pet ants and Saru started to have mini panic attacks about “what if they get out? what if they eat me in my sleep?” So with a heavy heart, Fukunaga gave them to a friend so that his Lovelace wouldn’t have to worry further

THEY LIKE TO PLAY pranks on each other. Not those obnoxious YouTube couple pranks, just little jokes here and there…April Fools Day is one of their favorite “holidays”.

THEY ARE absolute sweethearts, always trying to make the other or really anyone smile…but man can they be chaotic when they want to be-

oh, lis without question. she's quite blunt, and can also be caustic when under stress. i don't think we've ever really seen vanasha lash out like that in canon. that said, i do think lis would sincerely apologize, and be pretty good at not making the same mistakes twice

lis. i mean like...woman did very much survive the end of the world (in my au, lmao) and has kept going. i wouldn't say she's emotionally healthier, but BOY she is strong

LIS. 100% lis. honestly even beyond the fact that vanasha is a trained fighter and athletic, vanasha is also early-mid 30's-ish and lis is in her mid 40's, so lis has probably started to get hit with the menopause bone density loss, rip

though i said lis is more likely to hurt vanasha, i think vanasha actually would have a better sense of what to say to be deliberately hurtful, being overall more emotionally intelligent. she just usually chooses not to say those things

honestly, probably actually lis. woman is stubborn as all hell but also very susceptible to guilt. i think it also might take vanasha a bit longer to cool off

probably lis treating vanasha's wounds, since she's more likely to be sidelined during fights as a noncombatant while vanasha is actively fighting. but like, in a peacetime scenario...i think vanasha, who is more graceful and less prone to accidental injury

lis, although she would NEVER admit it

lis again. vanasha strikes me as someone who has genuine self-confidence and is secure in her attachments. lis...not so much

lis. she canonically emotionally pulled away and walked from her only romantic relationship that we know of, and definitely has difficulty connecting to people and letting people in. vanasha was actually relatively quick to trust aloy and befriend her, and then not offended by aloy's bluntness/difficulties in personality. i think that would carry over to being able to commit more easily in romantic relationships as well

who will propose?

vanasha! though i'm not 100% sure that she (or lis) is the marrying type. committed relationship yes, just not sure about the structure and whatnot of marriage

we don't know anything of vanasha's parents, but i'm gonna give this to her since miriam appears to have been a good mother

...i personally hate lap-sitting so i have never considered this. maybe vanasha would pull lis onto her lap as a joke, but i don't think it's something they'd do regularly, honestly

also, lap-sitting can be kinda awkward when you're roughly the same height, and they are! so i think they'd be more likely to sit next to each other to cuddle :)

It can be portal, or sailor moon, or star wars it all needs more. I need to see more girls kiss, I need more fics longer than 500 words and less than 50000 words, and I need the short one to pick up her tall girlfriend and show her how it’s done

A- Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed: So I still haven’t seen Ahsoka at all but um I love the wolfwren I’ve seen, I’ve weirdly been working on a bunch of original stories recently which has had my brain in a chokehold including a throuple I’ll probably make a post about at some point

O- Choose a song at random. I- Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why? I’ve been here since 2013, so. Many. Many many many. My blocked tags list includes dozens, so I’ll spare the list, but the most ironic is one piece, considering tumblr’s recent ad campaign

C- A ship you have never liked and probably never will: I don’t dislike many ships generally, I usually keep it to myself and just avoid ships I don’t like, but I genuinely dislike when Aloy is shipped with that one guy from HZD, I don’t even remember his name but he just personally annoyed me and gave me bad vibes. And also I think of her as a lesbian so.

E- Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what? I don’t think I’m “big” in any fandoms so I don’t think I’m responsible for any like, crack headcanons being spread around, and even on like a personal level I’m not usually one to jump down a crackship so much as I love rarepairs (yes I consider them different so sue me) but I did recently like Yue/Azula as a wild au kind of situation lol

Q- A fandom you’ve abandoned and why: I don’t abandon fandoms so much as they lie dormant until I return to them, sometimes years later. Even adventure time, the fandom that got me on tumblr, has lain dormant for a long time only to resurface now and again, especially with new releases

T- Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? I love “Chell is deaf” and/or “Chell is mute”as something to read and see in fanart, but I will die by the idea that she simply chooses not to say shit. That’s so much funnier.

In Which Anakin's Soulmate is a Lot Like Him, But More, and Worse

(Read on AO3)

My first entry for Anakin Rarepair Week 2022!

Anakin has a soulmark. Not everyone does, but enough do that it’s a known thing. A little over half of people have one.

His mom doesn’t have a soulmark, and that’s normal, too.

It manifests when he’s five, which is a good thing. Gardulla always burned the soulmarks off her slaves, but Watto doesn’t care enough to bother. It is on the inside of Anakin’s forearm, and he always wraps it in cloth to hide it from everyone except Mom. Soulmarks are complicated, but they aren’t impossible to replicate, and they’re important.

Anakin likes his soulmark. He likes what he imagines it could mean, whenever he thinks about it for a bit.

There is a sword, with a blue-edged, white blade. There is a stylized helmet, with eye holes that come down into an aurebesh Vev, and a paint pattern he can’t even start to try to understand. There’s more to the shape, but Anakin can’t understand the rest. The images are completely unfamiliar to him, some kind of flower on top of some ragged tear, three long up and three short down. The entire thing is in a red and yellow circle, which is simpler, but just as confusing.

Still. He’s pretty sure the sword is a lightsaber, and the helmet is Mandalorian, and if one of them is for him and the other is for his soulmate, then it means something good.

It means he’s getting off Tatooine.

When he’s nine, Anakin shows his soulmark to Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who gets a very funny look on his face and makes a call a little later. Mom says she’ll talk to him about it, because it might be grown-up stuff like politics, the kind that Anakin doesn’t really understand unless Mom is the one explaining it. Anakin goes to hang out with Padmé instead.

She’s got a soulmark, too. It’s very different from Anakin’s. There are two sabers on hers, one red with a curved hilt, and one yellow with a straight hilt, and the entire set of symbols is overlaid by a set of purple markings that Padmé says she thinks might be tattoos. The rest of the symbols are of Nabooan, or pertaining to Padmé herself.

She’s been told to never show her soulmark, either. Red sabers are symbols of darksiders, and the one time her family had asked a Jedi about it, right after it had formed, they’d been told to stay wary.

The second saber is a sign of hope, but the first is a danger. Padmé’s always trained her ability to keep her mind safe for that reason, even though there is not a drop of the Force in her.

“Then why tell me?” Anakin asks.

“Well, I’m supposed to be able to trust Jedi, and you’re going to be one,” Padmé tells him. She sounds very matter-of-fact about it, like she really, truly believes he can do this. He giggles. She grins, and continues. “And I think that, if I ask you to never, ever tell anyone, you’ll keep your promise.”

“I promise,” Anakin says.

(He keeps that promise for ten years. Then he meets Padmé’s soulmate, sees the red saber and tattoos, promptly freaks out, and yells out that he knows the soulmate of the person trying quite desperately to murder him.)

(This is not at all helpful, to anyone, for years.)

(It works out in the end, though not before Padmé has been kidnapped thirty-two times by a Sith apprentice trying to figure out if she’s meant to care in the first place.)

Rarepair headcanons because I am ignoring my problems

Serodeku:

Izuku reenacts the Spider-Man movies with Sero. Izuku is MJ. They also alternate being Spider-Man sometimes

They skate together

They get very protective when people call their boyfriend “plain”

They play dnd together

Sero tries to make sure that izuku gets some rest

They’re both kinda insecure, izuku more than sero, but still; and they make sure to reassure each other as often as possible

Sero likes listening to Izuku’s ramblings and finds them cute. He has told izuku this, only for the poor boy to imitate a tomato

After Izuku has been particularly reckless, Sero takes advantage of his quirk, wraps Izuku in bubble wrap, and tapes it there

Tokodeku:

Jocknerd bf and goth bf, we love to see it

Tokoyami teaches izuku how to sword fight

They start a dnd club at U.A.

Izuku talks to dark shadow a lot, Dark Shadow approves of him, and has claimed the spot of best man at their wedding

Izuku comes up with ideas to help Tokoyami gain control with Dark Shadow

Dark Shadow is very protective over Izuku, no matter how many times Tokoyami tells him that he can take care of himself, Dark Shadow will put himself between Izuku and any form of danger as often as possible

Dekoyama??? Aoyama/izuku:

Aoyama gives him makeovers, obviously

Aoyama drags izuku to the mall and tries to revamp some of his wardrobe, but he actually finds the “pants” and “flannel” type shirts cute

They help each other train their quirks

Aoyama is trilingual, and teaching izuku English and French.

Izuku always brings Aoyama home some new cheese

Y’all, I love them so much. There needs to be more aodeku content

Monoshinsou:

They have people watching dates. They come up with stories for the people they’re watching; their job, family, background, etc.

They judge people together

They call each other “love”

They’re both dramatic bastards, who will flop onto their lovers lap and proclaim their death due to a minor inconvenience

They jokingly sh*t-talk class A

Shinsou said “I love you” first, and it was because Monoma brought him coffee to class

Monoyama:

Like monoshinsou, they’re both dramatic bastards, who will flop onto their lovers lap and proclaim their death due to a minor inconvenience

They go shopping together and pick out the most dramatic pieces of clothing for each other

I love them so much, please 😭✋

They have tea parties every week, where they sh*t talk everyone else and gossip

They are both fancy bastards, and they wear the most exquisite outfits to go grocery shopping, and the outshine everyone

They both actually make clothing, they’ll go fabric shopping together. Gift exchanges are often articles of clothing that they’ve made for each other

Momomei:

They work on gear together!!!

Momo makes sure that mei gets some sleep

Mei helps redesign momo’s suit

They often work together with izuku to work in gear and such

They actually got together after izuku introduced them. He had been working on gear with mei, and studying with momo and he thought they’d hit it off. He was correct

Shintsuyu:

Dude they’d be so cute

Tsu is a vent gremlin, and you can’t change my mind. So she and shinsou will play a game where they try to find each other. Tsu is in the vent and shinsou is in the classrooms. Shinsou will try to find whichever vent she’s in, or she’ll find whichever classroom he’s in, in 20 minutes or less

I always headcanoned tsu as a dog person, so they’d have two cats and two dogs, and a bunny that they named Deku

They like comparing their friends to animals, hence the bunny, Deku

Kamideku:

Kaminari is a flirt, and izuku does n o t know how to handle it

Kaminari likes listening to izuku’s ramblings, and can keep up with them. He’ll ask questions on things too, and Izuku has never felt more appreciated

I don’t know why I feel like they’d have so many animals, but I do. They’d have so many, man. Three cats, two dogs, four sugar gliders, a hamster

Adhd power couple. They hyperfixated on complimentary things at the same time one time

Kaminari tutors izuku in English, and izuku turots kami in some other subjects. He’s also teaching kami JSL on the side. Kaminari has a live of languages

Momochako:

Study dates, Momo asks ochako to quiz her a lot

Ochako takes to floating momo’s things when she wants attention. Especially when Momo is studying. She makes a game out of how many things she can float until the other girl notices

Uraraka’s confidence does wonders for momo’s. Uraraka always makes sure to reassure momo that she is strong and that she can do this

Momo makes Uraraka whatever her heart desires. Uraraka blushes all the time, and momo takes great pride in getting her girlfriend to blush

Minatoru:

Mina clings to everyone, but especially to toru

They give each other stuffed animals so often. They’ll go to the store to get food, and come back with three stuffed animals that reminded them of each other

Please, they’re so cute 😭✋

They will play hide and seek, I stand by this.

Mina helps toru design a new costume. I hate hers, it’s horrible, and sexist, and not suitable for a fucking child

Toru says that pink is her favorite color

They flirt with each other all the time. Half the class thinks it’s cute, half of them used to think it was cute.

Iidamomo:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, but study dates. they quiz each other, and it actually gets pretty competitive

They also have rage room dates. I will not budge on this. Iida tried to murder someone, and I am excited to see momo finally snap. She deserves it

They alternate paying for dates, don’t try me.

The go hiking a lot

They started liking each other after one late night, both having nightmares. Momo had tea, and offered some to Iida. They talked until the early hours of the morning

They can’t flirt. They try. But they’re horrible at it. They’ll compliment each other all day long, but they cannot flirt.

KIRIDEKU, MY BELOVED:

Y’all,,, y’all, I love them so much

They train together, obviously

They ran into each other one night in the common room after both having nightmares. They talked about middle school, how they were both bullied, izuku’s quirk coming in late, katsuki being abusive, kiri being bullied because his quirk wasn’t “cool.” After that, they were practically inseparable.

They started going on dates, not that either of them knew they were dates. The entire class knew, so did the teachers, so did the rest of U.A. Kirishima picked up on it first after a comment from Mina, he had is realization.

So, he started courting Izuku. Not thag izuku realized this. He brought him flowers on most ‘dates,’ he bought him hero action figures whenever he could, he complimented him until Izuku was red in the face (which was honestly very easy.) Still, izuku remained ignorant to the fact that he was indeed dating Kirishima.

The final tipping point, was due to Uraraka’s help. She was quite tired of watching the two of them pine for each other. It was amusing for the first couple months, watching Kirishima try so hard, and Deku being totally oblivious. However, she took pity on her friends after a while.

So, Uraraka devised a devilish plan to get the two together. She involved Mina, Sero, and kaminari in this plan. What was the plan, you ask? Oh, simply to trap the two in one room until they broke through izuku’s obliviousness.

Kirishima finally “straight” up admitted his feelings, to which Izuku had the sudden realization of “oh my gods, have we been dating this whole time??” Yes, Izuku. Yes you have.

They have two anniversaries after that.

Let’s be honest, they are really, annoyingly, horrifically lovey dovey. Kirishima brags about having “the manliest and bestest boyfriend in the world.” Izuku flaunts his many PowerPoint presentations on how talented and incredible Kirishima is

Uraraka doesn’t know if she did the right thing by helping them. She is so tired

Tsujirou:

Jirou makes playlists for tsu

The few sane ones in class A, I swear

They go on walks in the rain as often as they can

They go for dates in the bookstore too. They each pick out an album and a book for the other to listen to and read

Y’all, they make so much sense togetherrrrr, I’m love them 🥺

Jirou started liking tsu after the crew saved bakugou. Jirou sat with tsu after momo, Iida, kirishima, Todoroki, and izuku apologized and sat with her. They had movie night, and Jirou joined the Bakugou saving crew and tsu with taking well into the night. She just appreciated how much tsu cared

Tsu started liking Jirou after she helped Iida, momo, and izuku try to keep the class in order. She appreciated how diplomatic and calm she was

Jirou would talk to izuku all night long about how gay she was, and how adorable tsu was. So, izuku decided to try and suggest ways for Jirou to ask her out.

She did not end up getting to ask her out though, as Tsu walked up to her the next morning f and asked if she wanted to go on a date. Jirou said yes. Izuku cried

Izujirou:

They make playlists for each other

They go for runs on the beach a lot

They both have insomnia, and often spend time making blanket forts and talking, or FaceTiming and listening to music

Jirou walks into the common room once a week looking for new music. She started liking Izuku after he made a playlist for her for one of these occasions.

They’re both quite awkward when it comes to romance, but neither of them will shy away from facing the truth. So, Jirou made izuku a playlist filled with love songs that reminded her of him and sent it to him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell.

So, then Jirou wrote a love song and told izuku that the song was for him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell.

So, then Jirou write analysis about izuku’s quirk for him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell

So, then, after thinking that Jirou had done so much for him, izuku made her a playlist filled with love songs. Jirou took this to mean that izuku had finally picked up on her feelings, and accepted them.

So, they started to go on dates. Not that izuku knew this, as he is dense as hell. All leading up to izuku finally confessing his feelings on one of their ‘dates,’ to which Jirou responded, “dude, we’re already dating? Aren’t we? I- I thought that was obvious??”

May this awkward couple be forever blessed

Tokoyama:

Goth/prep boyfriends, we love to see it

At least once a day, Aoyama will proclaim that Tokoyami “shines almost as bright as he does, in his fabulous emo way”

They sword fight, and come up with really dramatic scenarios and scenes that they’re in

They bond over being in the izucrew and their shared love of swords. Aoyama took fencing classes in middle school, and Tokoyami got into sword fighting after watching it in pirates of the Caribbean as a young child. He is self taught and watched countless videos on the art of sword fighting

Tokoyami asked Aoyama our by dramatically presenting him with a dagger and going “will you accompany me on a formal outing as my lover?”

Shinyama:

They flirt constantly

No really, it’s getting quite annoying. Someone please stop them.

They both plop down in random areas and proclaim their deaths, the difference between them, is that Aoyama will burst into shinsou’s room, and yell “love, I’ve been murdered. Mourn for me” while plopping down on shinsou’s lap. Shinsou can be found laying face down outside aoyama’s door, and when Aoyama goes to open the door, he just goes “I’ve been murdered.”

^^ one time, shinsou did a very fun Halloween prank for this, where he poured fake blood all over himself for Aoyama to find him an hour later, asleep.

Nap dates. Aoyama get glitter all over shinsou’s room

Iiyama:

Aoyama enjoys making Iida blush, obviously. But he takes joy in doing it specifically when class is about to start. Aizawa is tired of his shit

Here is how I think an iiyama conversation might go:

Aoyama: I ask for one thing in this relationship-

Iida: Aoyama, you know that’s a lie-

Aoyama: for my boyfriend to carry me around all day-

Anyway, Aoyama got carried around all day that day, despite Iida’s blush and Aizawa’s eye twitch

Everyone in the izucrew is close, but Iida and Aoyama started to get close after Iida told the crew about Stain. Aoyama wanted Iida to know that he wasn’t alone, and that he wanted to help him. So he started packing extra cheese for lunch and giving it to Iida. Iida was very confused at first. But this was Aoyama trying to court him. This was only made apparent by momo and Jirou telling Iida that this was aoyama’s attempt at expressing romantic interest.

Aoyama flirts with everyone, that’s just who he is. But with Iida? Oh it was tenfold. The poor boy was red in the face constantly. Aoyama was a persistent little bugger too, following him around and calling him ‘mon amour’

Kirikamideku:

My dearest traffic light trio, I’m love them

They train together, and kiri and kami always appreciate izuku’s analysis snd ideas

Kiri falls even more in love with izuku and kaminari when they go off on rants. Izuku rants and kami can keep up with him so he asks questions about it. Kiri loves to watch his boyfriends go on rants, I don’t make the rules, but I do enforce them

They started to get closer after kami and kiri found bakugou causing a ptsd flashback (could be on purpose of an accident, up to the reader.) they stated with him and tried to talk him through it. After this, izuku started to tell them about having been a “late bloomer” and being bullied, etc. (I don’t know, man; I tend to over share after flashbacks and after panic attacks)

Izuku tutors them in several subjects, but kami tutors them in English. Kiri just falls in love with his smart boyfriends

Izuku is teaching kami JSL and kami is helping izuku with English and Italian (personal headcanon that Italian has been one of kami’s special interests) kiri loves to listen to them, and finds it relaxing and calming to hear them do this. When he has panic attacks, he’ll ask them to tutor each other in different languages

Casting Thoughts

Yes, I did a long post when the rumours first dropped but hey now it’s confirmed plus we have characters descriptions, and I’m bored so let’s do this all over again people. Under the cut because it got long

Sisi Stringer as Rose Hathaway

I said this in my other post but I’m pretty happy with Sisi as Rose.

Visually I think she’s a great fit, I love that they casted a WoC in the main role, and I think if she can bring Rose’s humour and sarcasm to the role, she’s going to do great.

The character description mentions Rose being “fiery and outspoken”, happy to jump into the action, and the strongest fighter in her class but struggling to toe the line, which is all very Rose-esque, especially in the first book. It sounds to me like they have a good grasp on her character.

I’m a little disappointed we didn’t hear more about Rose as a character since she is the lead - it felt like the descriptions for Lissa and Dimitri both gave us a little more to go on - but it is only a very preliminary description so I’m happy to wait for more.

Daniela Nieves as Lissa Dragomir

Daniele is another one who I was happy with straight away.

She’s probably not what I imagined for Lissa visually but that’s not a bad thing either; I will be interested to see if they dye her hair a lighter colour (like a caramel-blonde) but personally that’s not something I need to see for her to be a great fit for Lissa.

I think she has a very sweet face which works well for a character like Lissa but I think she’s also going to be able to stand up in Lissa’s more fiercer moments which is nice to see as well.

The character descriptions mentions her as being “carefree and kind-hearted” who “coasts” through life until a death in the family thrusts her into a new role. That sounds a lot like pre-series Lissa so I wonder if we’re going to see a bit of that in the show before Andre (and her parents??) die and see that change.

It’s curious though that she’s described as the younger sister of the heir apparent - which would be Andre - so it sounds like they’ve changed it so Andre was supposed to be King. Obviously a deviation from the books but I don’t hate it? I don’t think it would change Lissa’s arc all that much because obviously she was always going to grow up to be an influential royal figure, this just slightly changes the dynamics of it.

The description also specifically mentions that she’s uninterested in “political machinations” and the “hypocrisy of the moroi royal society” which sounds very accurate to book!lissa as well.

All in all I’m very happy with what they’re doing with Lissa.

Keiron Moore as Dimitri Belikov

This is one who’s really grown on me since the rumoured cast list started circulating. At first I was kind of eh about him but I can really see him as Dimitri now.

I will be curious to see if he grows out his hair or not though.

As far as I know Keiron is not Russian, there’s not a lot about him online, but there’s some instagram activity on his account linking him to UK based companies so that would be my guess as to where he’s from. They’ve kept Dimitri’s incredibly Russian name so I guess we’re to assume Keiron might be doing an accent and they’re keeping Dimitri’s backstory relatively the same? I’m not gonna be super mad if they change it just because I think it’s doable for him not to be Russian (I know, I know a whole book is set in Russia but lbr here they could make him from anywhere and just send Rose there in that book).

The biggest thing for me will be his chemistry with Sisi, Danila and Zoey had great chemistry (imo anyway) which saved the move a little for me, so it’ll be important that Sisi and Keiron do as well. They’ve interacted a few times online which is cute so I’m hoping they were able to do some chemistry reads and that will translate on screen.

The character description mentions Dimitri as being “lethal, disciplined, discreet, and totally committed” as well as living by “a deep moral code” but with more going on “beneath his stoic, watchful surface” which sounds exactly like book!Dimitri to me.

They don’t really specify what his role at St Vlad’s is going to be but they do mention that he is a guardian so I’m assuming they’re keeping some sort of age gap between him and Rose. They also don’t mention anything about their relationship in the description, be it student/teacher, platonic, romantic, whatever, but they do say he has “an expansive spirit that could threaten to expose the underlying tension between his sense of what’s right and his formal duty to the Moroi.” which seems like a nod to their relationship.

Andre Dae-Kim as Christian Ozera

This was one of my favourite casting choices from the original rumoured cast list and I still love it.

The idea of a non-white Christian makes a lot of sense to me and I think Andre could do a great job of Christian’s aloofness (in the first book) as well as his sarcasm and growing confidence across the other books.

His character description confuses me a bit though: “Intelligent and thoughtful, Christian is the pariah of the school and royal court, due to his parents’ unforgivable societal sins.” sounds accurate enough to the book (although idk if thoughtful is quite the word I’d use for Christian - maybe they mean it in the sense that he’s quiet and keeps to himself?).

Even “Well-read and hungry for knowledge” doesn’t sound that far off, idk if he was *that* particularly studious in the books, but it doesn’t necessarily not make sense either you know?

But “he searches for faith-based answers and discovers a kindred spirit who is also looking for the truth” ??? My cynical, irreverent asshole Christian is now a man of faith? I’m assuming Lissa is the “kindred spirit” (again weird word choice but maybe they mean she’s feeling lost because of the death of her family?) but I just cannot see Christian as being particularly religious.

I’m trying to keep an open mind about these changes because you never know they might play out totally different on screen, but I really hope they didn’t make these changes, particularly that Christian is studious and religious, just because they cast an Asian actor as him (because they feel a little like Asian stereotypes).

J August Richards as Victor Dashkov

This is one that didn’t appear on the original rumoured cast list (as far as I saw) and it’s so different to his description in the books that I kind of don’t have an opinion about it as a casting choice.

I’ve never seen him in anything before so purely on a visual level I think he could be a great fit for Victor, I just think it’ll really come down to how he plays it.

As for this character description: “Victor is a Moroi noble vampire with a heart of gold who’s highly regarded for his role as advisor and political strategist to Moroi dignitaries.” as well as mentioning that he has intelligence and influence, sounds pretty accurate to the book. Obviously if Andre was the heir to the throne, Victor had to be shifted out of that role, but I think his book 1 arc could still work if they wanted it to.

The “heart of gold” bit obviously made me chuckle and I really hope they threw it in there as a kind of decoy to throw non-book-readers off the fact that he’s actually the villain in book 1/s1.

As for giving him a husband and two daughters, my thoughts are: why the fuck not? He didn’t have a love interest in the original books and I’m always down for more lgbtq+ rep. My only concern is it maybe playing into the trope of evil/villain characters being queer-coded. And as for having two daughters, well as long as one of them is Natalie I don’t mind.

Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Tatiana Vogel

Okay this is the most bizarre one imo, not because of the casting, but just the character description.

I mean “Tatiana is a Moroi vampire and political underdog who slowly takes the royal court by storm. Motivated by love and a sense of justice, Tatiana has a unique skill of making herself seem of no consequence until we realize much too late that she was always the one to watch.” sounds extremely Tasha Ozera to me, so like why not just make this character Tasha? Nothing about this sounds like Tatiana, and Tatiana wasn’t even a Vogel anyway (well Vogel wasn’t even one of the 12 royal families), she was an Ivashkov.

In terms of Anita-Joy herself, well I mean we don’t really have a character to compare her to, is she supposed to be more like Tasha or Tatiana? She looks fairly young, so my guess is actually on Tasha, but we’ll have to wait to see I guess.

Mia McKenna-Bruce as Mia Karp

This is another one that I was instantly a fan of.

I was so not a fan of Mia’s casting in the movie (I can’t even remember who played her tbh but I really didn’t like it) so this Mia is a lot closer to how I imagine her.

I think she’ll be able to carry Mia’s transformation from bratty social-climber to badass fighter really well.

The character description is interesting though. “Witty, cutting, and just the right kind of ruthless when necessary, non-Royal Mia has a long-term plan to social climb her way into the ranks of royalty, with all the privilege and freedom that entails.” sound pretty bang on to Mia in the first book.

“A plan complicated by her instant chemistry with Meredith, a Guardian-in-training, as Mia struggles to reconcile her attraction to Meredith with her lowly status.” is an obvious deviation though, and one I kind of love??? Give me all the queer rep, and if we get to see Mia confront the issue of comp-het I’m so here for it.

It’s kind of funny though because I’ve seen theories that Meredith is a replacement for Eddie and Mia/Eddie has always been my sort of rarepair ship.

The last name Karp is weird af though. Is she supposed to be Sonya’s daughter? And if that’s the case I wonder if we’re going to actually see Sonya turn Strigoi in the show’s first season or something and that triggers the change in Mia? Interesting concept but I’m not sure how the timeline will work.

Rhian Blundell as Meredith

So this is another new one, and tbh I hadn’t given Meredith *that* much though in the past but she’s probably close to how I would have pictured her which is cool.

The elephant in the room with this casting is that Meredith’s role in the books was relatively minor - she was just kind of that character that got brought up whenever R.M needed a dhampir who wasn’t Rose/Dimitri/Mason/Eddie. So clearly she’s going to have a bigger role in the tv show which I don’t mind but I do wonder if we’re going to lose a character - probably Eddie lbr - in order to have her. They haven’t casted an Eddie yet as far as we know, but I have seen it pointed out that Eddie’s role in book 1 was pretty small so maybe they just aren’t announcing it. But there’s also the possibility that maybe Meredith will sort of replace Eddie and be the third part of Rose and Mason’s friendship.

I’m very interested by this part of her character description though, “She has little patience for Rose’s volatility or Mia’s elitism, and regularly calls both of them out.”

Jonetta Kaiser as Sonya Karp

I don’t necessarily dislike Jonetta as Sonya but I am confused by this choice. She looks fairly young, which tbf Sonya was young-ish I guess, but if Mia is supposed to be her daughter she doesn’t look old enough to have a teenaged daughter. So maybe Sonya and Mia are sisters? Cousins? Just have each other’s last names for no reason? I really don’t know. They also look nothing alike.

Other than that, I don’t really have an opinion about Jonetta as Sonya. Obviously looks nothing like how Sonya was described but that’s not new nor a massive concern for me.

I can’t really tell just from looking at her, and I haven’t seen her in anything, if she would play a good Sonya. I think with a lot of the characters it’s going to come down to the personality they bring to the part and the writing.

I looooooove her character description though: “Quiet, careful and decidedly odd, Sonya is not of royal bloodline and sits out on the fringe of Moroi society, preferring to spend her time in the library or her gardens. Not a person who likes a scene, nonetheless she has a quiet but profound power of her own. She is taken by surprise when a Dhampir Guardian named Mikhail shows interest in her, a relationship that will expose both the brightest and darkest parts of her heart.” It’s everything I would probably want from a description of Sonya and I’m more and more convinced that we’re going to see Sonya’s descent into madness and transformation into a Strigoi play out in maybe the first season which I am so curious how they’re going to work into the timeline.

Andrew Liner as Mason Ashford

Our last one and another one who doesn’t look remotely like his description but again? Not a surprise and not a problem for me. He looks like he could play Mason’s goofiness really well as well as be a solid contender for a love interest for Rose.

“Charming, loyal and popular, Mason is Rose’s main competition in the quest to become the No. 1 Guardian-in-training. Though their relationship is casual on her side, he is hopeful she will finally look at him and see him as something more.” His character description makes a lot of sense, maybe him being Rose’s main competition is a bit of a deviation? But I think that’s more an indication that he’s supposed to be a strong fighter which isn’t inaccurate to the books. The rest sounds great.

Other Thoughts

Descriptions of the show specifically mention friendship and classism as major themes which I am very happy to hear about because those are the two parts of VA that I love the most.

Am a little more worried about it being described as “sexy” though, if they shove a whole bunch of meaningless sex scenes in it just because it’s a YA show I’m not gonna be happy.

Seen the show compared to “Game of Thrones” and “Bridgerton” which at first had me like oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck not good not good not good. But thinking about it more and trying to understand where Plec’s coming from with that description I wonder if means similar to GoT as in the cut-throat nature of the Moroi/Dhampir society cause I can kind of see that. And as for Bridgerton I wonder if she’s referring to the kind of social-climbing aspects of it, because again that makes sense and it seems like a theme she really wants to concentrate on. I hope that’s what she means by those comparisons, or that she just wants to compare it to popular shows to get people to watch it. The worst would be if she tries to throw in a lot of unnecessary sex scenes to make it like those shows, because I hate when they do that, especially when the characters are teenagers.

Interesting to hear that Plec has known about the series since before Twilight or TVD - not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Seems like it’s actually mostly (or all??) written by Marguerite MacIntyre which is interesting because I know people were worried about Julie Plec - I’ve never watched anything by either of them so I’m neutral at this point.

Of course! And hi! Thanks for the follow! I'm the resident Goten stan so I'd love to do this. All my writing is about Teen Goten so these will primarily be about that era but young Goten gets mentions too.

I kinda did a few of each oops lmao

Headcanon A: realistic

Goten is not a ladies man or player in the slightest. He is a total sweetheart, and while he is by far the most "street smart" of the Son family, he's still naive and somewhat shy around girls his age.

He has 0 filter and just blurts out the most wild shit, and cant keep secrets very well. He's flown around in public a lot even as a teen completely forgetting that hes not supposd to lmao.

And last one, Goten opens a martial arts school as an adult. He was in college but dropped out, due to feeling like he was just wasting time and didnt even know what he wanted to do. So Trunks got him a job at Capsule Corp in the meantime to help pay the bills for him and his wifey since they're newlyweds at the time. (He got married right before his 20th birthday)

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

Goten is a secretly Saiyaman stan even as a teenager. When he was younger, he was the only one who thought Saiyaman was cool. And he still does! He's loved Power Rangers / Sentai his whole life and still like :OOOO when Gohan dresses up lol. He lowkey wanted to be Saiyaman 3, but wont admit it cause he'd be embarrassed doing any of that in public lmao

Also, Goten collects figures of the World Tournament fighters. He has all of them in his room. His favorites are the one of his dad from the 23rd WT, and the one Trunks had specially made of the two of them as Mighty Mask

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Goten is fucked up from the whole Majin Buu Saga. Meeting Goku only for him to have to leave after only a day, finding out his brother (seemingly) died, an watching his mother get killed in front of his eyes in the span of less than 24 hours at the age of seven, he got clingy to all of them when everything first went back to normally. For months, Goten would wake up thinking they're all dead again and he would be all alone again.

However the thing that affected Goten the worst is being absorbed by Buu. The only people who know this are Trunks, and later his girlfriend Marron.

Goten is haunted by being swallowed by that goo and kept in that bod. He has nightmares of being absorbed again, and Marron being killed or turned to chocolate again. He blames himself for not finishing Buu off as Gotenks and "letting" Buu kill her.

When he goes up against Good Buu in End of Z, despite knowing this Buu is pure good he kinda has a panic attack having to fight him again

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

He had feelings for Marron from a young age, but buried them so deeply he forgot he had them, because he honestly felt he'd somehow screw up. Like Marron, he'd rather just keep things the way they are then end up losing her after a potential break up (spoiler: they dont break up.)

So when Marron finally kisses him for his 16th birthday, (as a "redo" for when she kissed his cheek as kids and he flipped out cause he was convinced he'd get cooties, turn blue and explode), that kiss kinda reawakened those feelings he had. Though this time he realized he couldnt push them away anymore. And didnt want to either.

So TLDR Goten and Marron hook up (what all my fics are about lol, my little rarepair <3), and theres a lightswitch in Goten's mind that makes him want to start training again. He's always liked sparring, but never took it seriously after Buu. But after his first date he realized he had someone he wanted to protect and asked Goku to train him. He eventually learns SSJ2, Instant Transmission, and his goal became to reach SSJ3 on his own and beat his dad in an all out fight.

Also he sometimes takes Marron's hair scrunchie to wear on his wrist for good luck during fights

MY FAVORITE RAREPAIR PART 2

So this one is more AU than the other

Cause I imagine Eel and Reed got together long before Apple ever tried to to date Reed so Applefrost, Willownose, and Shyheart never happen

Instead we have Cherryheart

she's a chimera kitty and she's a trans molly [she/her]

she was born the same day as Mapleshade's kits - Patchkit, Petalkit, and Larchkit. Appledusk, aware of what this would mean, goes out of his way to convince Mapleshade to move to RiverClan, which she opposes to multiple times.

Eventually she has no other choice and the two work together to get the ThunderClan queen and their two kits over to RiverClan.

Cherrykit is happy to have three knew friends / playmates and she strikes it off well with them. She's especially close to Patchkit and the two bond, Cherry herself believing she's a tortoiseshell like he is.

Mapleshade, thinking herself a better mother with better kits, isn't so find of Cherrykit and will keep finding ways to draw her kits away, leaving Cherrykit alone.

This makes the nursery a struggle, but soon enough the four are six moons old, meaning they can all hang out!

except.. To show loyalty, Mapleshade is made a mentor.. Specifically she's Cherrypaw's mentor.

Mapleshade isn't the kindest molly and every time Cherrypaw thinks she's caught a break to be with her friends, Mapleshade ends up dragging her away to train or hunt.

It gets to the point that to spend time with anyone, Cherrypaw and the other apprentices sneak out.

It's around this time and during these secret hang outs that Cherrypaw and Patchpaw develop crushes on each other

The two are super close and soon enough Mapleshade notices.

Mapleshade takes to threatening Cherrypaw, warning her to not try to ruin her son's chances of being the best warrior he can be. Cherrypaw is confused and frustrated.

She chooses not to listen to Mapleshade.

Close to her warrior ceremony, Cherrypaw and Patchpaw are out playing, having slipped away from their patrols and spending time in the water with each other. The two have been abandoning their patrols to hang out for a while now.

Mapleshade finds them and she's not pleased. She shoos Patchpaw back to his mentor and turns to Cherrypaw, demanding to know if this was what she was doing when she was supposed to be providing for her Clan.

Cherrypaw tries to defend herself, only for Mapleshade to attempt to drown her right there by the river.

Mapleshade is only stopped when Patchpaw, who had turned around to try to make sure he didn't get Cherrypaw in trouble, rushes in and pushes his mother off of Cherrypaw.

Stunned, Mapleshade tries to act like nothing happened, but it's hard to believe her.

Patchpaw tries to get Cherrypaw back to camp so that they can tell Darkstar, but the idea of him knowing has Mapleshade hiss.

She lashes out, springing after Cherrypaw, telling Patchpaw that no one will be saying anything.

Once more, she goes to try to kill Cherrypaw, believing that her silence will make Patchpaw listen to her more - that he'll go back to his 'mama's boy' ways - but shock takes over when Patchpaw attacks her again

He's only trying to free Cherrypaw, but one wrong move from Mapleshade while he swiped at her with unsheathed claws leads to him fatally wounding his own mother

A patrol happens upon them as Mapleshade is dying

Both apprentices are too shocked to explain what happened at first. It's not until they're in front of Darkstar that they manage to explain anything, though both are badly shaken by the experience.

In the end, they get to stay, but Patchpaw never shakes the memory.

The two never end up becoming mates as warriors, but do stay close friends
