There are 88 keys on the piano. Tsukasa's connection to the piano was explored within the On the stage of dazzling light event, the event that 88☆彡 was commissioned for.

When written in English, Wonderlands contains 11 letters, and Showtime contains 8. If the "x" in WonderlandsxShowtime is used as a multiplication sign, 11 multiplied by 8 is equal to 88.

The 8th chapter of this event happens to be the 88th chapter of WonderlandsxShowtime's story altogether (counting all the main story, Virtual Singer main story, and event stories). This doesn't apply to the EN server due to the omission of Revival my dream.

There are 88 known constellations. Another piece of recurring imagery with Tsukasa is a star, which is included in the song's title. Some constellations can also be seen on his trained Star Melody banner 4* card.

The Tenma siblings (including Toya as their honourary sibling) have birthdays that are 8 days apart (Saki is May 9th, Tsukasa is May 17th, and Toya is May 25th). Tsukasa has the middle birthday of the three, meaning that 88 (or 8 and another 8) connects him to the people he considers most important to him. All three of them are also connected to the piano.

Tsukasa smiles in the 2DMV at the end of the bridge, which is also 88 seconds into the song.

In addition to this, Tsukasa's third unit banner, Towards the Phoenix at the Sky's Edge, was the game's 88th event. Again this does not apply to the EN server.

ON THE STAGE OF DAZZLING LIGHT

This event will forever be one of my favorites. It was such a pivotal part of Tsukasa's character and GOODNESS I need people to talk about it MORE!!!!!

Post includes: Slightly long summary of event + The commission song + A few of my thoughts on it all

SUMMARY:

It starts w/ Tsukasa getting a role as Torpe, a pianist who's very anxious around people. A complete 180 from his usual roles. (And let me tell you, acting out a role like that is much harder than it looks.)

His first impression of Torpe: "Even though he is not getting any closer to his dreams, he still takes time to gaze at the stars… Torpe seems like an easygoing man who often resorts to escapism."

Although Tsukasa thinks he acted out Torpe just fine during his first run through, Rui has second thoughts. He explains that Tsukasa is good with his usual roles because he connects to them. He finds similarities. With this role, Rui isn't so sure he'll be able to. Tsukasa doesn't want to give up so easily. He wants a challenge, and to improve his acting skills. Rui reluctantly accepts.

A day passes, and they run through their scripts again. As they go through, Tsukasa still feels like he's not capturing Torpe correctly. He explains that he feels like he only knows Torpe on the surface level. He doesn't have a clue as to how Torpe would act in an improv situation.

After watching Tsukasa stumble yet again, Rui decides he needed to give Tsukasa a break. He tells Tsukasa not to participate in rehearsals until he finds a similarity between himself and Torpe. Tsukasa agrees with Rui and spends days trying to think of something, to no avail.

He visits the Wonderland Sekai, and finds out that Miku was playing Torpe as a temporary replacement. He asks Miku how SHE plays Torpe, and sees her play him with much more excitement than he expected.

"Tsukasa: You…. YOU DIDN’T PLAY AS HIM AT ALL!!

Miku: Oh~ Torpe’s role is surely hard!

Tsukasa: Yeah that’s not the only problem. Also, that scene is where he still hadn’t overcome his weakness before the recital.

Tsukasa: He should be in despair.

Miku: Eh~? But for Miku, seeing the stars makes me feel better~!

Tsukasa: That’s beside the point—- …Hm?

Tsukasa: (Seeing the stars makes me feel better… Where did I hear about that before…)"

His first breakthrough. He knew that this was important, he just didn't know how it was important.

Still thinking about it, Toya approaches him. Tsukasa knew that Toya was good at analyzing novels, and knew him pretty well, so he recruited him onto the 'Tsukasa and Torpe Similarity Search Party'.

Tsukasa takes Toya to the cafe that Saki works at so they can discuss more. They begin with differences, which eventually lead to this little conversation.

"Tsukasa: Yeah. Even though the recital is just around the corner, he just absent-mindedly gazes at the stars… That’s unthinkable for me…

Toya: ….

Toya: …I don’t think he was being absent-minded.

Tsukasa: Hm? What do you mean?

Toya: Torpe was facing setbacks in this scene. In the midst of that, he still takes time to look at the stars.

Toya: As such, I think “gazing at the stars” is an important thing to do for him.

Tsukasa: What do you mean by an important thing?

Toya: I don’t really know how to explain…

Toya: Setbacks… When he was faced with a big wall in front of him…

Tsukasa: Ah…."

QUE: VERY LONG FLASHBACK

This flashback makes me sad

When Tsukasa and Saki were in their elementary years, Saki wanted Tsukasa to teach her Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the piano. Due to Saki being too weak, Tsukasa was only able to teach her how with a piece of paper the next day. Little did he know, Saki would end up in the hospital over the night.

He was stuck at home alone quite a bit during this time.

In their middle school years, Saki is finally out of the hospital. She tells Tsukasa that she was accepted into the school with all of her friends. Later that day, she was back in the hospital again. Further away than before.

"Middle-school Tsukasa: You were able to enroll in Miyamasuzaka… Why are you getting even farther away…

Saki’s Voice: …………

Middle-school Tsukasa: ………..

Middle-school Tsukasa: (...It’ll be okay. Saki will definitely come home again…)

Middle-school Tsukasa: (Saki.. I’ll be waiting here…)

Tsukasa: ….. “That’s right. At times like these, I should go see the stars.” Tsukasa: Alright, whenever I'm stuck, let's do that!"

END OF FLASHBACK SEQUENCE

When Tsukasa finally makes it back to the real world, Toya and Saki are surrounding him. Saki makes him drink water. My man was still that ENTIRE TIME. He asks Saki if she said that seeing the stars made her feel better while she was in the hospital and Saki confirms it.

Finally, Tsukasa had found that connection.

He returns to the Wonderland Sekai, ready to perform, and the performance day comes up quickly.

While performing, Tsukasa feels appreciation towards Torpe.

"Tsukasa: (Even in the midst of despair, deep in his heart, he doesn’t even think about stopping playing the piano.)

Tsukasa: (And that’s why he looks up… He looks up to the stars.)

Tsukasa: (I’m sorry that I called you easygoing…)

Tsukasa: (You never gave up. Never in any hard situations. And that’s why you raised your head.)"

He played the role well, and switched the original piano piece Torpe played to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Looking at the audience's reactions, you could tell that he did very well.

Tsukasa's final thoughts on the show were, "What’s more, I’m happy that the sadness I felt when I was a child had become a pillar for this role…"

This or that, all of them are wonders. I hug them all and go to sleep (Is this not enough yet again?) Is this not how it’s supposed to be? Couldn’t we go even further than this!?

When morning comes, you let out a sigh. It’s okay if you color in your day after that You can’t taste the bitter, the sweet, or anything at all? I wish happiness will come to that kind of you

Raise your spirits and fly away! It’s okay if you take a rest for a little bit sometimes Aren't we just inevitably going around in circles? Clamor, clamor, it’s okay for you to just enjoy it I’m sure that’s right, that’s how it is. It’s okay if you crave those dreams and hopes I’ve been waiting for it- There it is! I rush up towards those 88 stars!

The whole song is just telling you that it's okay to take a break, to forget, to not feel the best. It's the sweetest thing ever. It's just saying "Hey! You aren't alone! You have people to lean on! You'll be okay!" and gosh how nice is that for a Tsukasa focused event. I love it. It really shows how caring the whole WxS troupe is towards each other.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I think this was such a good turning point for Tsukasa as a character. People claim that his character is wasted potential, but I think that Sega will keep on expanding onto him as time goes on. There's many little things that share more about him and who he is.

His little flashback episode was a tad bit concerning, but hey. Whatever works I guess. We need to talk about him more :)

Also I do plan to make a big post explaining everything that makes me A tad bit concerned for Tsukasa sometime. So excited to See where his character gets taken.

I feel like if you’re gonna write a pjsekai character… you should read at least ONE of their focus event stories, not just the main story and the “info” thing. The main story rlly doesn’t go into depth of the characters besides their typical backstory, but their focus events really go into depth with the character and they are more important to read than the main story if you’re writing these characters…

It’s just annoying to see really good writers mischaracterize who they’re writing…
