He doesn’t know what this means, but he’s powerless to resist his soulmate. He will take whatever Lan Wangji is willing to give him. ------ A "missing scene" of sorts from episode 43 of The Untamed. The pan out over the Jingshi with their song playing felt very much to me like a subtextual sex scene. So I wrote that hypothetical scene. Kay's comments: Missing scene from CQL and yes, I agree, the scene in episode 43 feels very much like a subtextual sex scene! And I love the way this fic fills the gap. Wangxian are just so soft with each other and the whole thing feels so warm. Really loved it. Excerpt: “I would like,” Lan Wangji begins. He pauses for a long moment. “I would like to show you. Words are… not always easy.” “Lan Zhan,” he replies. “Yes, show me.” Lan Wangji’s arms tighten around him, and his lips press against Wei Wuxian’s neck. They’re warm and soft, and he gasps, suddenly feeling hot all over. Lan Wangji continues pressing kisses up his neck, and all he can do is hold on, his arms tightening over Lan Wangji’s shoulders. Lan Wangji continues down the sensitive skin under his jaw until reaching his chin. He pulls back slightly until they are nose to nose, his breath brushing Wei Wuxian’s lips. “May I?” Lan Wangji asks again. “Yes,” Wei Wuxian breathes, and then they’re kissing.

Yeah so I had no idea that my appreciation of healthy communication could hit kink levels until I found @scarlettohairdye’s fics.

I read I Know Who I Want To Take Me Home first, and daaaamn. Suddenly I realized that while I occasionally enjoy a level of toxic in my fiction I wouldn’t tolerate in real life- that reading about people having open and healthy communication about sex is hot AF.

Then, I read Leave All Your Love and Your Longing Behind. Yay more hot healthy communication, and all sorts of warm fuzzies of awesome acceptance that warms my cynical and jaded heart. I heart Wei Ying’s “weird queerplatonic extended family grouping over two apartments.” Also Bunny, because she is the best and the belly is NOT a trap. And even Bruce because he is a big lover and just needed a friend to teach him manners.

And of course, because of my brain with all the hyper-SQUIRREL-fixa-SHINY-tion, paired with a whoa busy life, I am reading ALL THE THINGS between all the OTHER things that I am reading/watching/scrolling/doing. Which naturally means I read For a Good Time, Call. I am so ridiculously in-love with this modern incarnation of all the MDZS characters, but most especially Wei Ying and Lan Zhan. I love the feelings and the talking about them once they get around to talking about them. I love the neuro-spicy in all flavors. I love wedding planner extraordinaire Jiang Cheng and Nie Mingjue’s “Like I haven’t seen a fucking dick before.” I love the fashion. I love Wei Ying’s (off screen) therapist and want to be her (I am already a snarky and sarcastic asshole to clients who appreciate my snarky and sarcastic ways, I think he would appreciate me). And damnit, apparently I now love Jin Zixuan, and his naked calendar, hanging with cats, and haunted kitchen.

I have actually reread this one in bits and pieces because I wasn’t ready to move on, and sometimes when doing other things thoughts of this would pop up and I’d come back to visit. I am pretty excited that this is part of a series of works and I get to visit this world and particular incarnation of these characters again.

So do yourself a favor, if you are open to modern AUs, enjoy some explicit smut in your fic, and are on the healthy communication kink-train (or want to explore it) - and check out @scarlettohairdye’s work.

Thinking about a angsty (just a bit) Wangxian modern!au scenario: Wei Wuxian just got a bad fever, and unfortunately he has no one at home with him to assist him (madame yu in this modern!au kicked him out of the jiang house, he lives in a small ramshackle apartment by himself). He already used to take care of himself, he got through much worse than a fever in his childhood, but still he misses so much being pampered by his shijie and the feeling he would never be alone anymore through these hard times, especially because it hasn't been that long since he's been kicked out.

He tries to endure the fever like it's nothing serious, he really does for hours but then it's like a nightmare and he just realized that the fridge is empty and he's getting weaker. He doesn't want to be a burden, never did, he hates that feeling but he's really tired and, fuck it, in a moment of impulse he decides to call Wen Qing: she is a friend AND a future doctor, which it's always useful. Yeah he'll have to bear her scolding about his unhealthy lifestyle but he really needs help in this moment so he is willing to endure.

The fever however is so bad that it causes him to hallucinate. He mistakes the number and he calls Lan Wangji by error. Believing the person beyond the phone is Wen Qing, he starts to whine about a bad illness that will kill him SOON if she doesn't go to his apartament, he urgently needs food and protein and how can a conscientious person just abandon him to his destiny, this is really bad, please have mercy, just think to the neighbors, etc etc. He exaggerates a bit but because he knows Wen Qing, she'll snort a bit but she will give up by her generous heart. When he blabbered though he didn’t realized that the person beyond the phone NEVER talked back. He's justified because the fever is really bad and didn’t pay attention and talked too much like usual. He ends the call.

After 10 minutes, not more, the bell rings. With difficulty he drags himself to open the door. He doesn't put on a show like at the phone, he just scratches his head in fake laughter, trying to play down the fever but still thanking the dear Wen Qing for the help. He doesn't realize that wen qing still doesn't speak at all, but his head is boiling so maybe it's for the best, he really couldn't stand to be scolded right now.

He just sits on the bed while "wen qing" prepares the dinner. He feels so relaxed, having someone taking care of him, feeding him, offering him a drink of water to take medicines, preparing him a delicious ginger tea (he's never been a fan of tea but this is really good) and handing him a blanket. A blanket with rabbits? It's really a warm feeling.

While he's overjoyed he also looks at "wen qing", who has her back to him and he is suddenly confused. Wen Qing's hair isn't that long (lan zhan is wearing a long braid), she's not that tall, her legs aren't that long, and she never wears blue and white... and what is this scent? Maybe the fever is giving him hallucinations? Suddenly she approaches, kneels in front of him, wei wuxian feels a hand approaching, not enough to touch his body but still its weight felt over the blanket and indirectly he feels its warmth. And then he hears a "wei ying".

Wei Wuxian freezes. What? Only one person calls him like that. Since his parents died, only one person has ever called him like that. But it's impossible right? Why would Lan Wangji, the icy and unapproachable jade of the school, being at home looking after him? As much as Wei Wuxian tried to be his friend, he was always ignored! Whenever he invited Lan wangji to do something or just called him, he only got a block of marble in response. He doesn't hold a grudge against him for that, indeed he considers Lan Wangji a very cool person, but still this is really impossible. And it would be too nice, having that cold and beautiful jade at his service, being all good for him. It's just a hallucination, of course.

He mumbles "ha ha why are you suddenly calling me wei ying ha ha that's strange".

Just silence. He hears a sigh, and then suddenly he no longer feels that comfortable hand on the blanket.

He doesn't have time to complain because he suddenly feels a cool (not too cold, just the right temperature) cloth over his forehead. "Thanks" and puts his hand on top of "wen qing"'s.

He hears an arrest in her breath, that hand trembles a bit, but that uncertainty lasts only a few seconds. Then everything is comfortable. The bed, the extra blanket, his stomach deliciously full. Wei Wuxian is sleeping already but he thinks he's feeling a tight hand on his own. He imagines it's another person with him, not Wen Qing.

Of course after the recovery, he will just think that Wen Qing acted very strange, it was not like her at all. But he will thank her properly of course, because he never felt that safe from a very long time. And he will have to give her back the rabbit blanket, sadly.. because it is really cute and he got fond of it!

And of course he won't remember Lan Wangji at all. He'll think it was just an hallucination or a naive dream. And of course Lan wangji never dares to confess and he'll act like this never happened at school.

First WangXian post & My Thoughts While I read

I'm reading book 5 of mo do zu shi and I'm finily at the long awaited WANGXIAN confession and the shock I feel at the revelation of what happed to lan wangji and the thirty three lashes...

My god these two are obsessed and devoted to each other. The facy that the first moment Wei wuxian saw lan wangji he was obsessed but didn't even know it and it still surprised that his feeling for lan wangji are romantic has him shocked. The obliviousness of him has me floored.

I CANT.

Dont even get me started on how shameless they are. They chose a hostage situation for the perfect time to confess there undying love for eachother... I love these two.

when you re-read a fic you remember being fairly good and then are like oh right there’s a reason I didn’t bookmark this

#this wei wuxian is the most annoying person in the world #not in an actual wwx way #in a rom com hero/ine jumping to the worst conclusion at every turn with no conversation way #i'm not sure where so much of fandom got the idea that wangxian's problem is a failure to communicate on LWJ's part #or wwx assuming people hate him and running away before anyone can explain what's going on #he's very much clued into how everyone feels about him except LWJ #and he's not mad at LWJ for (apparently) not liking him (in the novel)#(in CQL i think he knows very well how LWJ feels)#anyway #i need to stop reading bad fic lol

On the one hand i really like MDZS, and like many before me it was what dragged me into the danmei world.

But sometimes i look at wangxian and go "damn, they have no chemistry - people believe this is true romance?" which is an opinion mainly borne out of reading so much more danmei where the leads actually just click.

#like mxtx's very own tcgf #like hualian immediately have so much more chemistry starting from that first official meeting #the haycart meeting? true romance #or even wenzhou - gremlins that they are - are way better zhijis #with them i can really see and believe the connections (tyk and shl/woh both)#but how can wangxian be zhiji's if they never can communicate on one wavelength #im just big sigh #but also im not saying wangxian sucks #like if you enjoy them? more power to you #my ramblings #i hope i dont have enough followers to get killed over this actually

Whenever I see something mature I immediately am taken back to my days of growing up on wattpad.

my first reaction is always OH GOD NOT AGAIN but my second reaction is always "wait it could be okay let me look at the plot" bc as I got older I went from sex-repulsed to sex-neutral lol

#Now I even have OPINIONS on particular things #like in wangxian i find it frustrating that no one seems to separate top/bottom dynamics from dom/sub dynamics #heck yeah they switch but that doesn't mean that wwx wouldn't still be tied up #as an example #that sounds incredibly dirty and its existence gives me anxiety but I needed to say it #On the subject of wattpad being my home town #internet-wise at least #I kinda miss my internet parents ngl #absolutely helped me out when i was struggling with stuff like my lack of communication skills regarding my parents and depression #as well as eugh people bc yknow that's just how it goes #RDoglover Borntosingwithdrama and ProfessorRemusLupin are the only names I remember (there was another person)#but jeez was that comment chain long and JEEZ there was quite a bit of chatting on there #Wish I could thank them for being such a great support while I was struggling during my younger years
