NONO anon listen-- I MEAN if you look in my profile or in the akeshukita tag you'll see i drew them a bunch lol but i'll try to pitch this ass short as my brainrot allows me

Akeshukita has good dynamics all around, in every direction the ship works and it works in a different way that complements the other parts of the ship, let's start with the ship that started all this flood of weird anon hate for some reason

Shuake is a very passionate ship, i see them as a strong chemical reaction, very powerful (ejem, maybe very toxic even) but the main thing or like the main problem for shuake is that they lack stability, it's an unstable ship, of course i mean, you kinda just fix it and move on right, but when we analyse it, Akechi leaves, Joker sulks, Akechi could be alive without telling Joker, they hate eachother, they love eachother, in general, unstable. But they're still like so passionate and tragic and the whole aspect of fate it's sooooo good, on the contrary Shukita is almost exactly the opposite, Shukita is a highly domestic ship, in which it's easy to imagine them just living together with a normal, basic, loving life. This can be very good for fluff and comfort, but we can't deny that it lacks a certain spice that you can definitely find in Shuake. So between these two ships, they can complement each other. Yusuke adds some stability to Shuake, Akechi adds some spice to Shukita

Now here's the kicker: Akekita is a criminally underrated amazing ship. In Akekita both Yusuke and Akechi can find something they could never find in a relationship with joker, which is relatability. Yusuke and Goro are so similar that Yusuke himself in game said that if the PTs hadn't gotten to him, he could have easily gone a similar route Goro did. And when you think about early game Yusuke, the one that blackmails them and threatens the Phantom Thieves, he's right. As much as Joker could love either of them, there's just going to be a comfort that they would be able to find in eachother and that they wouldn't be able to find in anyone else, but they still need Joker to act as a bridge, Akechi wouldn't open himself to Yusuke just like that, Akechi is so closed off and the only person he lets in is Joker, and for Yusuke Joker is a regulator, Joker also knows how to manage Yusuke's eccentricities and translate them to the rest of the world. (seee just the entire Yusuke SL which is basically Yusuke misinterpreting things and Joker being there to explain and aid)

Fic Author Self-Rec Chain

Got tagged by @hotsuqueen to self-rec my top 5 favorite fics I've written. Let's see...

This one and the next one have got to be tied for my absolute favorites. Yes I reread my own fics and 90% of the time its one of these two. The Frog Prince is my only "long" fic, and it's a P5 shukita retelling of my favorite fairy tale: The Frog Princess. No, not the Disney one, the Russian folk one with Vasilisa the Wise/Beautiful. I poured every bit of my love of the characters, the folk tale, and the arts depicted into it, and I think it shows.

My other favorite, To Paint a Dream, is just as full of emotion to me, but much much darker. D.N. Angel and (presumably) one-sided satodai, it's focused on Satoshi's emotional fallout after a job goes horribly wrong. Pay attention to the tags on this one, please! Spoiler: he does not deal well, and that's the point of the fic. It does have a happy-ish ending though! And is the only fic of mine that I regularly debate commissioning art for (if anyone wants to illustrate the paintings at the end hmu 👀👀👀💰💰💰).

Breaking Locks and Stealing Hearts I think is still somehow one of my favorites, despite it being the very first fic I wrote and imo obvious for it. I'm just so fond of it for breaking the ice for the next 50+ fics! P5 shuake clinic shenanigans that plays with the idea of what if Akechi was closer to shattering and just needed a good spicy push to do so.

Baby Shark Rescue is the newest on the list, and I don't think I was more delighted to be writing a fic ever than I was this one. Every single word is just gleeful sandboxing with some of @hotsuqueen's AUs and bullying my favorite characters. P5/Devil Survivor 2 smashup, set more in P5 than DeSu2, where Yamato's family are yakuza to rule all yakuza, Iwai is a distant cousin, and there are some familial differences in thought about how children should be taught and treated. Featuring child Yamato being a brat! And beloved anyway. The only fanfic of mine I've made art for!

The Devil Within was also delightfully fun to write, inspired by this post by @ belfire. Devil Survivor kazunao in which Naoya might have forgotten to mention Kazuya would need to consume magnetite after becoming King of Bel, and then he helps Kazuya make up the difference. It was very much fun leaning into the base and messy as they went for it, as well as patching up game lore to make it work.

There's a lot of shuake people I don't like but I never saw people really go after other ships and they tended to also like pegoryu or shukita. Meanwhile with those ships people would harass anyone for liking Akechi or shuake that I just felt bitter because one ship was fine but for the others it felt like you had to hate Akechi and I didn't. If some Akechi fans feel insular it's because of years they were pushed out and had to justify themselves, that would make anyone bitter.

there's no normal shuake fans, if people wanted to believe the ship is not abusive it's too late since it has the most abusive fics out of any mlm persona ship on ao3. don't say it's because it's popular because pegoryu doesn't have ryuji abuse anyone and akechi is the abusive ex in those fics too.

this is the funniest take I've ever seen. I'm so glad that the shit that's on ao3 is now canonical and there is absolutely zero political reason why a feminine gay man who displays signs of mental illness would be depicted as abusive for pornographic purposes. not to quote myself but:

this just in! members of popular K-pop group BTS are now performing sexual acts on each other! the weird fanfiction about them was completely right about their irl relationship and indicative of a) the content they produce and b) who they are as people!

ao3 is a good representation of what unmoderated fanfic authors want to write, not a reflection of reality. there are several thousand persona fics on ao3, but p5 has sold millions of copies -- the shit you remember seeing on ao3 is in no way, shape or form representative of a collective fanbase. you are also ignoring every other form of fan content, from doujinshi to amvs -- this is pretty clearly a problem you're having with the english speaking persona fandom on ao3. and for fucks sake there's literally every abhorrent thing on ao3 bc it's unmoderated in a way other platforms aren't -- when freaks have nowhere to go they'll fester in the spaces that give them even an inch

do you know how I know for sure that you are completely wrong and have zero ground here? because fics also portray yusuke as abusive. why do they do so? it's not because of his questionable introduction, because that was aimed at a woman -- it doesn't fit into their freakshow. the reason they target him and the traits they hone in on are a) his gayness b) his mental illness and/or neurodivergence and c) his trauma. I doubt you think shukita is abhorrent bc people like depicting yusuke as a yandere, despite it being pretty much the exact same case of fandom portrayal -- it's just that shuake is more popular (esp for pornography) so you see more and more instances of this portrayal. when pegoryu is depicted in this way (WHICH IT IS, HOLY SHIT) it's akira doing the gross shit. also, confirmation bias, seriously

Why are you putting words in my mouth… No, I don’t think it’s worse than other ships. I don’t think any ship is worse or better, because I know people have different tastes. For example, I don’t like shipping the protagonist and Makoto, but that doesn’t mean I think it’s worse than the ships I do like. It just doesn’t appeal to me personally, and I’m happy for people who ship it to enjoy it to the fullest.

What’s with this ‘all or nothing’ approach you’ve got. I might call Akechi a bitch but that doesn’t mean he has no other traits. Why are you acting like Akechi can’t be nice to the protagonist? He can! And there are so many fanfics and fanart of the two of them built on love and trust! I’m a multishipper who likes all kinds of different ships with Akiren, like pegoryu, shukita, shuann, shuharu, shufumi, it’s just that shuake’s my favourite right now and I don’t see why that’s such an issue for you.

Persona - Ryuji && Yukari (Differences and Similarities && Glacie’s Opinion On The Matter)

So this is a random post that I wanted to write for a while since people keep posting in the P5 tag how Ryuji is ‘abused’ and ‘hated’ by both the Phantom Thieves and the fandom.

... to keep this short, I don’t deny that. It’s true, some people hate Ryuji (in the fandom I mean) as well as the ship pegoryu. That’s a given in the Persona fandom, though, as nearly every character has their fans and people who hate/dislike them. However, I still believe that - overall - he gets more love than Yukari Takeba does. 

After all, take fanfiction for example. If we look at the protagonist ships with Ryuji and Yukari, on AO3, there are most certainly more pegoryu than minayuka fics (about 701 as compared to 44) and ... let’s face it - as a ship name - pegoryu is kinda special. 

For the simple fact that it doesn’t take ‘shu’ as a ship name but ‘pego’ instead, as all other protagonist ships are mostly using ‘shu’ from I know (shuann, shuharu, shukita, shutaba, shumako, shuake etc.) while on AO3, minayuka isn’t even considered to be a tag or anything of the sort for Yukari’s shipping with her respective protagonist.

To leave it at that, I’m not stating that Ryuji faces no abuse in both the game and by the fandom, but he certainly gets more love than Yukari - both as a character and with any ships involving him (same with Junpei and Yosuke, too). Whatever happens to him, the majority of the fandom doesn’t hate him for one of his actions that doesn’t define his entire character. 

Ryuji in general has some moments with the protagonist that could be considered shippy (if you look at it that way) and they don’t get interrupted or deemed not important - meanwhile the P3 movies had Aigis interrupt a Makoto and Yukari moment (when she doesn’t in the game. They literally had random shadows appear or whatever just so she could interrupt them and get a moment with Makoto instead... lovely, isn’t it? :v). I think that’s enough said ... and one of the reasons I can’t stomach ai//koto. shu//mako still has nothing on ai//koto in terms of being ‘shoved in your face’ imo (keyword being ‘still’, I’m waiting for the anime and any potential P5 spin-offs to see if that changes or not ^^). After all, the movies added more scenes with Aigis on top of the ones from the game so.... yeah.

Oh i have so much good shit i mean the akeshukita tag on Ao3 doesn't have a lot of stuff, but it's almost all quality fr

My favorite multichapter would be The Pit by GreyPigeon, it's really good, but do mind your tags, it has some really dark topics and scenes but GOD the way they get together is so REAL AND GOOD AND UGHHHH I'M IN LOVE, it's also one of the few akeshukita that starts with shukita and incorporates goro, rather than starting with shuake and incorporating yusuke. If you can take the themes, it's such a good fic.

For something more mild in topics but still, very good, i really like both umarekawaru and wabi-sabi, they follow the same story, very good exploration of the dynamic, I like how Yusuke ends up being a bit left out (on purpose) on this one, and how that in itself becomes a problem

One shots! i often read one shots so

My favorite Akeshukita one shot EVER is The Perfect Ratio by GreyPigeon, there are not strong talks only a bit of talk about BDSM and NSFW, this one shot for me illustrates all of this that i'm saying i love about Akeshukita, as the name indicates, it really is a perfect ratio of a ship. Admitedly, Grey's depiction of the ship will always be my favorite since we both basically agree on everything about it, similarly i think also from Grey A night too wet for crows explores the ship in a similar way, now putting Goro at the center. And wouldn't you guess, it's also very good lol Honestly? anything you read from Grey is gonna be top tier, do mind your tags, but it's impeccable

This one is NSFW but Illusion of Choice also plays like right into what i like, it's more akekita than the other two sides of the ship and it's purely just NSFW, but it has this rivalry between Shuake that i love, putting Yusuke in the middle, which is amazing djaghjld

I just want Akechi to have some love I mean, I know he technically tried to kill Akira and pretty much end the Phantom Thieves, but his intentions weren't focused on just them As everyone knows, he was after his father the whole time, the Phantom Thieves were just another step in his revenge. I'd hope that everyone also knows that it didn't go quite as planned. Why? Well, he did the one thing he tried to avoid. He took off his mask. He allowed himself to grow attached to the group and especially Akira because he could *trust him*. He never felt like he could trust anyone, he felt like he was a puppet for his father's use. He never felt like he would be wanted for anything other than someone else's profit. As we all know, though, that was proven wrong. And you're gonna hate him because of the way he is? I know this post is completely unnecessary, but I felt like I SHOULD post about this because Akechi was and is receiving hate because they feel like he's 'despicable' or he 'doesn't deserve a second chance' *Well I'm sorry to disappoint you, but the entire game was set on second chances.* What makes Akechi so different? Just because he was an 'antagonist'? Because he 'is a terrible person?' If you think that, what you're doing is exactly what society did to the rest of the Phantom Thieves. You're pretty much confirming that what happened in the game can actually happen (besides the Persona part, I wish though). Look, I'm not saying that Akechi is an innocent angel or he did nothing wrong. I mean, obviously, he was at fault because he did it, whether Shido was controlling him or not. What I'm saying is that no matter what you've done, there should be a chance at forgiveness. This isn't the case a lot of times, because people forget just how much everyone is so deserving of a second chance. To steal that from someone, that can make you the very worst kind of thief. Stealing someone's right to actually live their life without ridicule or mockery is absolutely cruel. Now, back to Akechi. Our ace detective is the perfect example of someone who is ridiculed by people because they just don't like him or they like Yusuke better. I'm sorry, but Atlus decided to make Shuake/ Akeshu lowkey canon (I ship ShuKita as well as ShuAke, so I'm sort of happy and sad at the same time). It's more of a mutual understanding than full blown romance, but it's there, and there may be DLC like what they did with Persona 4. Don't hate because your OTP isn't canon. We all have our ships that we never got to see canon because the creators didn't want it that way. It's fine to ship those other characters, but no need for hating. In conclusion, though he is an Antagonist, Akechi Goro might as well be one of the characters with the deepest and relatable stories (to a degree) that you don't see every day. All of the main characters in Persona 5 had some really messed up stories, but he was the only one who didn't get to see his 'justice' unfold. If he is still alive, he should get a second chance, because in his final moments in the game he proved that he could change. He *did* change. He decided to save his friends. He sacrificed himself for them because he decided to care. Don't believe me? Look at the note for the Level 10 Justice Confidant. ,,,,, just don't hate on him for no good reason. I honestly feel like the reason shukita hasn’t been a big ship lately is because of the anime. A lot of people played the game already and, as we all know, is loaded with ship bait for these two. But, understandably, people’s interests may have focused on something else and have no desire to create or be involved with the ship anymore.

But then comes the anime, which brings in people that have never played the game. Unfortunately, the anime skimps out all the things that made people ship shukita (like it seems like Atlus really could have made Yusuke a dateable character...), so people may not be interested in the ship. However, the anime gives quite a bit of bait for a couple other ships so people are gonna gravitate to them, shuake being the one taking the pedestal right now. Though I’m fine with that since I like that ship too, but shukita will still hold a special place in my heart.
