Tumblr media
MIDDLE FINGER IS BANNED I REPEAT DO NOT FLIP THE BIRD on live IT IS VERY VERY BAD IT IS LITERALLY SAME AS IF YOU GOT FULLY NAKED AND WOOP WOOP HANKY PANKY BOJOINK WITH AN EQUALLY NUDE PARTNER ON THE STREAM I REPEAT HIDE YOUR MIDDLE FINGERS PUT THEM AWAY PUT THEN AWAY NOW A CHILD COULD SEE AN OBSCENE FINGER ON TUNGLR DOT COM
I realized from lot of tags and comments lot of you are unaware that the underlying issue is BIGGER than just tumblr. I even skipped the part about dress code bc its the same on every app now, nothing special unfortunately, the middle FINGER was news. you just never read the ToS and the reason is US LAWS, Credit card company monopoly, advertisers wanting everything to be "family friendly" etc and things are only going to get worse if you don't start opposing and repeling the torjan horse laws. Here, let's have someone who knows better explain it:

Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre says a future Conservative government would change the law to require that porn websites verify the age of users to prevent minors from accessing the content. The Tories currently back a Senate bill that promises to do just that. Bill S-210 passed the Senate in the spring and is set to be studied by a House committee, but no meetings have been scheduled yet. The law would require adult websites to verify users’ ages, but does not specify how that would be done.

I hope people in the OSC (and other fandoms in general) who are ok with or neutral about Kosa realize that not only will we lose a bunch of platforms that allow us to interact with each other (Tumblr, discord, Ao3, Wattpad, Twitter, YouTube, etc) but will also get rid of at least 80-95% of our fandom.
The OSC consists mostly of people between 13-17 who (if Kosa goes through the Senate and Houses of Representatives and gets passed as a law) will most likely no longer have access to YouTube and other social platforms which actively kills almost all the people who read and watch Object Shows!
By visiting and sharing animated shows like II or BFDI those creators make money which gives them the means to keep making their shows and paying their animators, voice actors, writers and so much more. This bill will actively get rid of most of the people who watch these shows which will cause a large loss in support and revenue for these creators and will most likely mean the end for any smaller object show.
Object show comics rely on people sharing them around in fandom spaces since they’re not animated and put on YouTube like animated object shows are. By losing these spaces and the people who support their content these creators will no longer be able to reach a large audience and get the support they need to continue their comics. This means that we will lose a lot of the comics that the OSC has!
Most of the content you see in the OSC is made by minors, which this bill will actively destroy and thus kill this fandom and many others!
So I am begging of you OSC and other communities, Please please please sign petitions, tell your senators and representatives that you don’t want this bill to pass, and tell anyone that you can reach about how this Bill is a violation of privacy and minors' rights! Re-blog anything you see with helpful information about what Kosa is and keep talking about it! We need to tell people about it so that this doesn’t go through the Senate. Remember, the final day is February 26, we don’t have that long!!!

These are two slides from a presentation that I did together with my partner @who-is-page: "You Are Not A Museum Piece: Putting Yourself Out There In The Alterhuman Community." You can watch the whole presentation on Youtube here.
You can make informed decisions about your privacy on the internet, and pick and choose to make it just right for your own personal needs. It doesn't have to be all-or-nothing. A risk that's acceptable for one person may be too big for another person. These lists are based on sources such as the book The Smart Girl’s Guide to Privacy: Practical Tips for Staying Safe Online, by Violet Blue. We recommend reading it to learn more.

Fighting to continue the era where online communities are free
I understand that some of you are waiting for me to update some fanfics. However, I've been embroiled in what could only be described as a fight for the internet to stay open. For those who aren't aware, there are various bad bills surrounding the internet that are either in committee or on their way to the Senate Floor. They all share one thing in common: overly broad provisions that could lead to mass censorship of various things online and a complete chilling of free expression, especially if you're part of the LGBTQ+ community or other marginalized groups. I've already spoken about these bills on this blog and the fact there are talks of a possible package being made is continuing this discussion. Thankfully, I'm not alone in this fight. EFF, Fight for The Future, and the ACLU are all fighting against the bills and starting Thursday, will bring out a mass protest. That said, the protest can only get big if you guys come in. That's why I'm making this post.
These are blog posts made by two of the organizations I mentioned. They both hold petitions for you to sign in order to oppose these bills, but the latter site made by Fight For The Future allows you to actually call your lawmakers so you could tell them to oppose these bills. They give you scripts and everything. The deadline given by the organizations is July 28th, which is when the Senate is supposed to go into recess. If we can prevent any of these bills from going through before that, we can consider it a mission accomplished. If you need more info on some of these bills, let me provide you with some Linktrees.
I know it feels like I'm asking a lot from you guys, but I hope you can do what you can and spread this around. We're facing a massive wave of bad news and we've seen a glimpse of what could happen thanks to the DDOS of AO3, but we cannot let ourselves be toppled over by them. We have to push back and ensure a better future for ourselves, the people around us, and the children who deserve to gain a free voice in the future.

For everybody that follows me that lives in the United States, contact your local state representatives about the KOSA bill and how it is unconstitutional, it is a privacy violation and it is an overreach of government power. The government should not have this much power, we are not North Korea, we are in the free country of the United States of America. And the fact that our rights are constantly taken from us every day is a problem. Contact your local state representatives, get angry they already don’t listen to us but maybe they’ll listen to what if we contact them en mass

The RCMP did not follow the Privacy Act and its own guidelines when it chose web investigation technology, concludes a special report by Canada’s privacy commissioner, Philippe Dufresne, presented to Parliament on Thursday. The investigation was spurred by Tyee reporting in 2019 and 2020, which revealed the RCMP’s Tactical Internet Operational Support unit used tools that can circumvent the privacy and security of Canadians online. The previous privacy commissioner, after an earlier investigation, raised similar concerns about the RCMP’s use of the facial recognition service Clearview AI, and the force at the time said it would address those issues with a new screening program it called the National Technology Onboarding Program.

Before TikTok gets forced-Americanized, can we all acknowledge that it was fucking stupid, and also really racist, to have said shit like, "TikTok is so bad because it gives your private information to China" when EVERY platform has to give their private information to the US if they ask AND they can sell it to the highest bidder?
