#only fe users can be therapists or what

To: the person who thinks Yoongi uses Fe and is INFJ because he said he would like to take a therapist license to help people who have suffered like him: drop MBTI before you get hurt.
I mean, when will people stop addressing as Fe things that are just interpersonal intelligence, empathy and/or being a decent human being.

Hello Mr. ENTJ 👋🏻 ENTP girl here. Like any other Ne-dom I have major struggles with discipline and commitment. This ended up, obviously, screwing my life and I have no idea what to do. I have problems figuring out what career should I choose, and this is depressing me because I'm ambitious and would like to find my place and succeed. What advise do you have on discipline? Or on how to stick with something even when is not fun all the time? I know that for us is very difficult and that maybe an advise for others might not work so good with us (our brain is programmed to jump from one topic to another) but is there anything you know that could help with this?
Sorry for the long ask, and thank you so much.
(ps: I have depression, which I'm already working on with proper help. But discipline related to study/work and goals is something I still haven't found an answer)

Hello! I've been trying to be better about procrastination, because I realize how detrimental it can be, not only to myself, but also to other people in group project situations. Do you have any tips on pacing comfortably or figuring out how to have an equal amount of school work each night?
Hey there. Full disclosure before I go into procrastination: I don’t procrastinate, I’ve never struggled with it, and throughout my life I’ve done everything in my power to avoid procrastinating for reasons we’ll skip because they aren’t relevant to your ask. For that reason, I struggle to answer questions around this topic because I have limited personal perspective and my default response tends to be: “Don’t wait, suck it up, and get it done.” Plus, what works for my personality type may not work for yours.
The good news is that I have extremely brilliant and insanely accomplished colleagues and direct reports with your personality type who have found ways to manage procrastination. Here are some of the solutions we’ve come up with and they’ve used that’ve worked which may be helpful for you and others.
Managing procrastination for xNTPs (applicable to xSTPs)
1. Choose goals you’re excited about. This should be inherently obvious but it’s actually a common problem. Do you even want to achieve the thing you’re trying to achieve? If not, achieving it will be an uphill battle from start to finish. Here’s my framework to get you started.
2. Fail early and fail fast. High Ne users need to explore possibilities before they can make a decision so explore them early and move on. Do you want to study art or music? Take both classes, now. Remove the question mark.
3. Create an external support system. Go talk to other people about your goals: friends, colleagues, classmates, family members, mentors, and have them keep you on track. Even better, get a therapist if that’s an option. You mentioned depression and that you’re working on it which is great, keep your mental health up. Set up weekly, bi-weekly, monthly check-ins with them to measure progress. This helps with two things: 1) it pulls your goals out of your mind and into reality by speaking it into existence (as an intuitive, this is a constant struggle) and 2) it creates a system to keep you accountable to those goals especially if you’re not making progress. Ask for help if you need it.
4. Get a mentor. Find successful people who are where you want to be that you want to emulate. Talk to them, ask them questions, and keep them close. If you don’t know anyone like that, then research them online, watch videos, read books, and study their thought processes and habits. This helps because you’ll be able to see that someone has already walked the path you’re on and it’s completely achievable. You need to be able to see the result, not just imagine it in your head. The second benefit is that you’ll be able to check your internal logic against external facts. Are you doing what you’re supposed to be doing to succeed? Is your method actually feasible? If not, what facts from other successful people contradict your logic? Compare, analyze, adjust, and adapt.
5. Choose your friends wisely. Most people are influenced by their environment and their social groups, but xxTPs are especially vulnerable to social influence due to having extraverted feeling (Fe). If you’re trying to become a neurosurgeon but your friends are playing Fortnite 14 hours per day, then you’ll feel a strong pull to do the same thing they’re doing. For this reason, you don’t need to cut them off, but you’ll need to distance yourself from people who are interfering with your ability to do deep work. Set expectations with them: “I can game on weekends only for 2-3 hours” and enforce those boundaries. Then, add new friends to your social circle who have similar goals as you.
6. Work in groups. There’s a quote: “Many hands make for light work.” If you’re studying for an exam, then study with other people. Schedule a study group where everyone is expected to contribute notes to review and discuss. Global pandemic? Schedule a Zoom studying session. This accomplishes a few things: 1) it distributes the burden of crappy tasks and dense material among many people to become more manageable 2) it checks your logic and understanding of the material to ensure it’s accurate 3) it creates external accountability as covered in #1 and 4) it builds relationships with other people who may have similar goals as you and who may become part of your lifelong network. In general, xNTPs struggle with self-imposed deadlines and internal discipline but they tend to respond better when there’s a risk of letting other people down.
7. Break large goals into small chunks. Self-explanatory. Take a large goal like becoming a doctor which can take 10+ years (4 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school, 2+ years of residency) and break it down into smaller goals like 1) master biology 101, master chemistry 101, etc. 2) get a research lab position studying something you find interesting 3) talk to some physicians in the specialty that you’re interested in 4) complete a few MCAT classes, etc. Small wins build confidence, increase momentum, and create gratification.
8. Burn all bridges. xNTPs are masters of creative excuses and you must destroy all possible escape routes that can be used to get out of doing the tasks you must do. If you’re trying to get into better physical shape, then sign a non-refundable gym membership so that you’ll lose your money if you don’t go. If you’re trying to be more consistent with studying at the library, then volunteer to drive your study group so that you’ll let them down if you don’t drive. If you’re distracted by television, then sell your TV and cut your cable subscription. If you’re addicted to Tumblr, then delete your account.
9. Summon the procrastination demon-- early. You know the demon I’m talking about, it’s the one that comes out right before a deadline that chases you to finish your work. Summon it yourself. Have you been wanting to write a book? Send out invitations to your friends and family to schedule a reading.
10. Show off. When you accomplish something, talk about it with other people. Share your knowledge, teach a class, write an online post, and distribute that wisdom to other people. It creates an added layer of gratification from your success.

hii, i wanted to ask a question about my bestie xx
i’ve typed her as an enfj bc she’s always seemed like a high Fe type to me and the enfj function stack and descriptions of them on various websites were describing her very well. me and her are very different “people-wise”: she always talks abt ppl behind their backs while maintaining friendly attitude talking WITH them, always compliments ppl to get something she wants(some of our teachers always loved her bc she knew how to get their love and trust); then me…i’m an isfp…totally opposite, i have only a few friends, i hate talking behind people’s back, never “sucked up” on anyone, including teachers(some of them still love me, but for different reasons), i can’t compliment people i don’t like(tbf, i can’t compliment AT ALL, very bad at words, unlike my friend) and etc. I also don’t like lying to people and friends, and she, on the other hand lies or manipulates her words quite a lot(sometimes it helps her getting what she wants tho, i must admit).
But i’ve noticed recently that she’s very secretive…like…really secretive. She never shows her true feelings or struggles to her friends(or me, at least, lmao)…We both keep our feelings inside, but I have high Fi and I thought this kind of way of dealing with emotions was kinda Fi-ish. Not that she shows her friends her fake emotions, but more like she deals with them on her own.
also, she’s very impulsive in terms of her interests? more than me sometimes(and i have aux Se)…she gets heavily invested, for example in her choice of her future career and has her future in this career all planned(what uni will she graduate, how successful she might be, how “cool” will she be, etc.) and she talks about it(her new interest/hobby or her career choice) so passionately, that you think “omg, she REALLY wants to be a therapist/marketing specialist/dentist/whatever”, and she seems really invested in it, but then she DROPS it…like, she suddenly “realizes” it’s not what she wants or that that profession isn’t as good/profitable as she thought. She also cancels plans last minute a lot. It can be her, who encourages and organises our friend group’s gathering, but then gets out of it last minute herself, sometimes trying to make really pathetic excuses(but sometimes they’re very well-thought, such as “my parents asked me to babysit my little siblings” so none of us could blame her for telling that she won’t go w us last minute). I’m not telling it’s always lies. I’m sure sometimes her parents really don’t allow her to go somewhere or ask to babysit, but why does she always tell us that last minute!? sometimes she does things for her own benefit, like she’d rather go out with a person who has a good camera(so they could take pics for her), rather than someone she’s closer to and will have better time with. she’s also very insecure deep down. me too, but i don’t want people’s approval as much as her. she’s always scared to gain weight or look bad to her boyfriend, even though he’s the nicest guy i’ve ever met and has always told her that she’s the most beautiful girl ever and he would love her no matter what. perhaps i could also describe her as “all talk, no actual actions” and it hurts me isfp ass very much :((
we also have a lot of passive aggression in our relationship, bc we’re both hate conflicts in some way, and sometimes supress our anger towards each other(i tend to sometimes burst out tho), so ig she’s more passive aggressive than me and never tells me what’s wrong, therefore i can never tell if i offended her or not. idk, maybe she thinks the sam abt me?
she’s not a bad person tho, she’s a good friend and we’ve been friends for a long time, but sometimes she acts very very strange and i’m not the only one who has noticed this.
maybe you could help me…from what i’ve described, does she seem enfj type 3(have difficulty telling what her wing is)? ty in advance ❤️
Based on this it sounds like you are both in your mid-teens, and so honestly I would just give it some time if you want to type her because while your personality certainly exists at this time, it’s very much in flux. A lot of this just sounds like she’s dealing with a lot of insecurity and expectations and it’s hard to say if it’s typology governing these actions or if it’s just like...being 16 or 17 (which is what I’ve assumed from this).
I’m not sure what her type is but here are a couple of things that might help you, and I will say that ENFJ doesn’t sound wrong given that assumed age. It could be - looking at ENFP or ESFP wouldn’t hurt - but a lot of her behaviors seem in line with high Fe and even with Ni I would expect a certain amount of impulsivity and indecision at her stage of development.
First, try to think about her in terms of who she is without comparing to yourself. I don’t know for sure if you’re an ISFP - you might be, or you might not be - so if you compare to yourself and you are mistyped then you’re working off an incorrect basis for comparison in the first place and that will make everything harder. Try to think how she compares to people you know in general - and especially your peers. Is she more impulsive than most of your classmates? Less? Around average?
Second, I have found the idea that high Fi users are more private and high Fe users are less private to be absolutely false; I think it is partly based on a Tumblr user who mistyped as an Fe user for a long time but then realized they were a high Fi user and was trying to make that fit and it’s persisted long past that. A lot of high Fi users, especially extroverted ones, are very expressive, and a lot of high Fe users can be private - Fe users are typically very attuned to what others think of them and so might keep their emotions on lockdown or hide them in order to elicit a certain response (Fe-dom 3s, for example, will absolutely do this). As a rule thinkers and introverts are more private with their emotions than feelers and extroverts but that’s about the extent of it.
And finally, and I tell most people this especially when they bring up not just a typology question but also some conflicts or personal difficulties; I get that you are asking me for help with MBTI, and that’s the main help I feel like I have any ability to give and I know unsolicited advice is often unwelcome so feel free to ignore, but: MBTI does not solve interpersonal (or intrapersonal) problems. It can be a very helpful and powerful tool, but knowing is only half the battle (or something). A person who knows literally nothing about MBTI but is an empathetic and thoughtful communicator who does not shy away from healthy confrontation will do better than a typology expert who lacks even one of those traits. If you want to know her type, review the first few paragraphs and see if that helps and feel free to revisit after some time, but if you want to like, know why she keeps flaking on you, then unfortunately getting over the fear of confrontation and potentially upsetting someone will be a far more effective use of time.

haru, ann, makoto, yusuke, and ryuji?
All are under the Cut:
Haru
How I feel about this character:
I like her! While I do agree that the fact she is recruited right when things kick into gear is kinda frustrating, I think she has a lot of great little moments that are overlooked, she is charming and cute
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
I am up for anything, but nothing stuck out in the game itself
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Her friendship with Morgana and the entire Beauty Thief stuff is great
My unpopular opinion about this character:
I’m actually glad that her recruitment was nonstandard, it shook up the usual ‘oh person who is not supposed to be there wander in the Metaverse and turns out there is a persona user” while it doesn’t last for long, there are questions of if she could be Black Mask, and in general it makes it feel like the world doesn’t just revolve around what Joker sees on screen, the fact she is closer to other ppl than Joker (at least at first) is interesting
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
A conversation with Akechi about the whole father murder thing would be great, I know she is a pretty private person, and if it happened it would likely be without Joker, but the fact she still tries to be polite to him while being upfront about not forgiving him is an interesting dynamic
my OTP:
None
my cross over ship:
Um how about she and Rinea from FE Echoes hook up?
a headcanon fact:
She definitely becomes an old rich cat lady living her best life, partner or no
Ann
How I feel about this character:
I love her! I think her presence after her arc is understated but a great part of the team, I just think she is a fun character I like to watch
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Shiho, I might also be down for a quick, low stakes hook-up with Yusuke
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Her and Joker’s confidant is really nice
My unpopular opinion about this character:
I like her confidant, like yeah the model stuff isn’t the deepest but it only gets brought up a few times and we still have the rest of it being her kinda having to deal with the guilt of not being there for a friend even though things were kinda out of her control
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I guess I wish her relationship with her body and sexuality was made a little more clear, the writing around that is an example of the game both wanting to appeal to fantasies and real life issues, from what i gathered she was fine with being sexy when she was the one who chose to do it, so it would have been nice if more of the fan-service stuff had her kinda initiating stuff
my OTP:
Her and Shiho
my cross over ship:
I could see her and Hilda von Goneril being fun
a headcanon fact:
I don’t think she continues staying a model for long, and over time kinda takes an unofficial mother figure role of looking out for newbies to make sure they aren’t being exploiting and using her influence to get creeps from getting more jobs
Makoto
How I feel about this character:
A fave, I think the game does a great job of balancing out her unlikable moments with being able to understand where she is coming from, and that tension in general made me like her all the more once I started coming around to her
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Joker
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Her and Sae were a great pair of sisters
My unpopular opinion about this character:
Again I also really liked her confidant, like Ann I think the Eiko stuff was very minor in the long run, and considering her strong sense of justice it made sense for hers to take place through an active investigation of sorts rather than her having a pity party for herself and spilling her past
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
My bias might be showing again but I am curious about her relationship with Akechi, I doubt they were close but it feels realistic that she would know he was basically Sae’s intern, and while I doubt they interacted much one on one outside that one scene where he calls her nothing but a goody two shoes, I wouldn’t mind exploring it more
my OTP:
Joker
my cross over ship:
Hmm her and Utena Tenjou would be a great mix of “high intellect low wisdom” and beating up gross dudes
a headcanon fact:
I think she never loses her rebellious streak and ends up in like advocacy work against government corruption
Yusuke
How I feel about this character:
He’s nice, I do like his interesting relationship with Madarame, and think it has some of the most nuance in the game
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Nothing really serious besides like I said that low-stakes hook-up with Ann
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
As I mentioned while not a good relationship, I still think his connection with Madarame is his most interesting
My unpopular opinion about this character:
Maybe my own sheltered weirdo art kid is showing, but he really isn’t as out-there as ppl claim, I was expecting a hammy off the walls character from what fandom showed, but if anything his is really quiet, withdrawn and again most of his eccentricities is just him having been really sheltered his whole life and having to adjust to living on his own, like in the grand scheme of things, buying lobsters just to draw them is something I could see ppl in my life doing and maybe joking about for two or three days before being completely forgotten
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I think he is the phantom thief that fades into the background the most, and I wish he had a bit more relevancy for the rest of the game, which is harder to do bc he isn’t the most social or touchy-feely outside of art, I wish I got a great sense of camaraderie at least from his reasons for sticking around besides “friends” feels very weak
my OTP:
Not really any
my cross over ship:
I could see something between him and Namine being sweet
a headcanon fact:
I don’t know the exact flavor, but I think he is misdiagnosed  neurodivergant and likely never really figures it out except maybe by the time he is middle age and has a stable life bc he and others around him write off the symptoms as the result of his weird upbringing and artsy nature
Ryuji
How I feel about this character:
He’s a character I don’t I could stand if he was real, but the game writing and framing does make me like him and his friendship with Joker comes off as very genuine
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
I am up for anything, but nothing stuck out in the game itself
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Again him and Joker
My unpopular opinion about this character:
Lol I feel like I pissed off a lot of ppl by saying I couldn’t stand him if he was real, but really he is like the eptimone of teenage rage, like he has good reasons to be angry but he doesn’t really know how to cope with it in the right ways, like no offense but walking up to somebody and just asking “hey are you being abused” isn’t all that helpful to a victim and other little things that in a less power-fantasy narrative could go really wrong, I don’t think presenting those flaws is bad, and I don’t think he is a bad character, but as someone who has also had to carefully manage my anger, it hits me in a very “remembers bad memory and cringes way”
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
Look I know teenagers can be horny and I am not against ever showing that, but i guess as a grown woman I could have done without all the “lets score some babes” talk
my OTP:
None
my cross over ship:
Doug from Rune Factory 4 could probably vibe with him but i think they’d both cool each other down
a headcanon fact:
Probably also when he is older, things are stable, and he finds a therapist he doesn’t feel patronized by, he does end up finding the experience meaningful

INFP super ego
I think that INFP is seriously the least fortunate of all mbti types. No, it is not because INFPs are sensitive. No, it is not because they like their comfort zone or whatever other bullshit. You want to know why? Here you go, sweetheart.
INFPs lead with introverted feeling Fi and their inferior function is extroverted thinking Te. If you are turbulent to that and are not practicing your Te sitting at home endlessly drawing unicorns you basically have no fucking idea of reality. I know right, so many times it is repeated in case of INFPs, ‘’perception becomes reality’’ but seriously how dangerous that is, think about it. I don’t get the idea when people think INFPs are cute and adorable whereas, if that how they look like, they don’t even live in reality! Their Fi was cherished over their entire life, they have no discipline to accomplish anything = weak Te and instead are in their bubble of comfort Si. They don’t experience real things. They don’t have even real Si.
Well then, yeah, that sucks, but what then would happen when INFP decides to actually get out of their comfort zone and move out and start working and be independent? Reality hits them. Reality is brutal, life is a jungle. It is not about being pessimistic even here, it is true. People hurt each other, people don’t understand each other, people compete, are cruel, people disappoint. Any other type would deal with that better than INFP. Why? Well, INFP hero is Fi and parent Ne. INFP IMAGINES his reality and he fucking believes in it (if Te = objectivity is weak and Ti not used = demon). So he goes there and offers smiles and rainbows and very well if he meets mind like people but most likely he will meet variety of people. Fi starts to crush. Crushing and crushing... Oh, INFP can’t make much sense of what is happening, I mean, what happened with my ‘’reality’’? If INFP doesn’t feel good about reality, if he isn’t respected with his Te, if he doesn’t think he is doing something meaningful and important for him, then INFP’s soul is dying. In such case, INFP should go see therapist. What is happening then? Fi is taken over by... Ti. yep, his demon function. INFP is no longer INFP but becomes ISTP, super ego replaces ego, and now original INFP is just broken, demon rules his mind and mody, yep, Se. This is why you can read INFPs are sluts, well, that is because they are most likely taken then by their super ego, no morals, ding something completely against themselves. They abandon ideas Ne (imagination and “reality”, I mean, it didn’t work anyway, right?), doesn’t have comfort zone Si anymore, and weak Te is replaced with even more weak, childish and lash outing Fe, wonderful. INFPs are so interesting.
All right, things are bad for our INFP now. What INFP can do to snap out of it and become healthier and stronger? Well, there are couple of options. Like you maybe know, our psyche is split into 4 sides, conscious = ego, unconscious, subconscious and super ego = demon. Our INFP knows his ego and now discovers his super ego, but doesn’t have any control over the latter as it is our most primitive and often pathological instincts and fantasies. Think now how INFP can go bad now with ISTP super ego. Exactly. So best would be if INFP from earlier stages was developing his Te. Then he wouldn’t trust blindly Fi but that Fi would be balanced by objectivity. This is the key, the ultimate key to happiness for all types. To balance hero with inferior function. To not let demon out. Demon lets out through having inferior function violated or through inferior function not working well enough. I should probably make some algorithm for that. Te violated (people don’t respect you), but you actually have Te -> take care of your Te, change environment, change what you are doing, change attitide you have toward those people, whatever you do you have to feel important and that your input matter. This is relatively easy to solve in my opinion. As adults and assuming with an income we can change our environment and job. Okay but what if demon is entering ego and INFP does not any longer believe in good in world? Go use your Te. But not work wise. Write your feelings. Understand them. Fi + Te. Know what went wrong. Ultimately this is why that happened. You failed to see reality. So now go and check how that happened and understand (!!!) that life is not like Fi + Ne. Or Fi + Si. Life is Fi + Te and then you work on what is in between. So organise your feelings and impressions, expectations, understand you can’t control people develop healthy and Te. It is not about work. Many INFPs turn to work when under stress, organise some random stuff. Don’t. Or maybe at first. But the key is to relate Te to Fi and that will save you and you will be so damn strong. So yeah, again, it is not about work. It is defining your own, personal strong life philosophy based on values AND OBJECTIVITY. I recommend that INFPs read works on objectivity btw, e.g. Ayn Rand, that will make you tougher. Only then you can go and rule the world. What else? Toughen yourself up with stuff like discipline, discipline your mind, wake up early, have cold shower, meditate, workout. This Te is not about work and achievement and supposed feeling of importance that that gives to you! Never let your self esteem go down by not speaking up, say what you think, be blunt sometimes, use Te not only to defend yourself (so in stressful situations) but also daily things.
And what else. Of course you have 3 sides of the mind, after having ego set up, you are in you subconscious pretty much, you are working on your Te, become ESTJ like. Te being the gate to happiness. But the right Te! Okay, want more? You enter your unconscious = shadow, ENFJ, develop it, you become wiser and mature. Finally you master your super ego and you gain enlightenment -> your all 4 sides of psyche are integrated and you no longer lead with merely ego side.
Summing up. What INFP should do to survive in REAL world? Go develop your Te that works for your Fi. Learn what is objectivism. Accept it. Use Te to balance Fi. Fi is awesome but if not balanced, then combined with Ne is most dangerous for the user of all types! This is why it is so important to develop healthy Te. If in super ego stage already, then go also to Te and understand in an objective way your Fi feelings and values and how they are really helpful for you, update them.
Ah, so much to say, but for now I am done.

Miscellaneous questions:
Hello! First, I would like to thank you, for keeping this tumblr updated, including novel perspectives, being receptive to questions and helping us understand ourselves and others.
I loved the new layout, it is beautiful, more colorful and more inviting.
I am “submitting a post”, but actually I have a few questions, that I gathered throughout a few months and I would be very nice if you could answer them, please. I don’t have a tumblr.
a) Could you please do a ESTJ X ISFJ relationship contrast? Two people very dear to me have this MBTI combination, and I thought maybe knowing how their functions work together, could help me help them understand each other. ( I would guess the isfj is a enneagram core 2 and the estj is a core 8, if you could also include this in the comparison, would be awesome)
You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoy the blog and find its information useful. :)
Looks like one of my co-mods (INTP) has done a comparison between ESTJ and ISFJ here, so I won’t retrace old ground except to say 2 is a common ISFJ Enneagram and would make them a ‘giver’ personality; an 8 makes an ESTJ blunt and forward, which will cause occasional emotional misunderstandings and hurt feelings on the ISFJ’s part. 8′s can come in two flavors – aggressive, tactless, and domineering (unhealthy) and protective, proactive, and unafraid to stand up for what is right (healthy) – so depending on which the ESTJ is, their relationship could benefit both, because 2 and 8 move into one another. 2′s become more like 8′s (protective and reactive) under stress, while 8′s move toward 2′s as they get healthier (more connected to their emotions and needs and in sharing their more sensitive ‘core’ with other people). ESTJs are good for ISFJs in that they push them to more forward action; ISFJs are good for ESTJs in that they encourage them to connect to their emotions.
b) How can a person that uses Fi benefit from therapy? In some posts here, you have talked about how Fe users feel better after talking about their feelings, and how Fi needs to process their feelings by themselves during a period of time. How can someone help a Fi person go through their problems?
Some Fi users are more willing to discuss their problems (when ready) with therapists than others, but I personally think a therapist benefits a Fi user the most in terms of helping them come up with a workable plan of action, or to act as a sounding board to validate their feelings. Fi’s are sometimes concerned about how they should feel and why they do not feel that way, especially if it seems out of sync with the environment, so having someone listen and tell them any emotion is fine can be helpful to less-secure Fi’s. Te also likes the straight truth, so the best therapist for a Fi/Te axis is one that listens, and then challenges them to find ways to resolve their problems and bring closure.
 d) Is looping always a bad thing? If so, why?
No, it isn’t. It’s very helpful in work environments and creative processes, but it’s better to allow your mind to switch effortlessly between functions all day long – to, if you’re an ISFP, allow Fi to guide you toward what you feel most passionate about, Se to seek opportunities to act in the moment / take you forward, Ni to provide insight and an idea for the desired outcome, and Te to execute it all. A loop for a couple of hours is fine, even helpful. A loop for a couple of days is more taxing on your brain. Any longer than that, you might fall out of balance.
e) Can you use all your functions at once ( Maybe not at the exact time, but in time frames closer to one another)? How?
I believe the theory says you cannot use them all at the same time; but your brain shifts so quickly between all of them on a regular basis, it’s hard to separate them – which is why it can be hard to describe the functions without bias or ‘influences’ – and why you may or may not identify with them. The pure Ne descriptions, for example, would make all Ne-users seem flighty, unrealistic, and unattached from reality – the lower functions, however, should be at work grounding them, making them see the sensible side of life, and ‘dampening’ Ne. In an average day, you use all your functions on and off, unless you are resisting functional development and pushing away from those functions (which never lets them mature, and results in stereotypical behavior or imbalances). It takes a fraction of a second to shift between them, if you’re not ‘stuck’ deep-thinking in one. (This is why depression sucks… you get lost in a function.)
f) The only ways you can use your inferior function is through being “in the grip”, in combination with your secondary function or if using all the functions at once is possible, or is there some other way?
You can use your inferior function any time, but it’s an afterthought – your absolute last line of defense after you’ve run through the options of the higher ones. So, if you’re at work and you’re an INFJ, you’ll mostly use Ni to foresee and visualize what you want, Fe to network with people, Ti to analyze problems, and then Se to ‘take action’ and move forward. In the grip is when you over-use your inferior function and get stuck there, acting unlike yourself and being unable to tap into any of the higher functions to restore balance to your life. Second/inferior functions are not a recognized loop.
f) I was thinking about enneagram, and got curious about something. Is it possible for someone to be ( think of “X” and “R” as any enneagram type from the missing center, and their wings) 1w2 2w1 XwR or  4w5 5w4 XwR or 7w8 8w7 XwR? If so, how can this person identify which is the wing, which is the core type and figure out their tritype? That would make the process of finding the tritype harder or easier?
Yes, it is possible to have mirrored Enneagram types – such as 4w5 for your heart type, and 5w4 for your head type. What happens with this is that all the traits of each are ENHANCED to an incredible degree, making you MORE 4, and MORE 5 – creating extreme versions of those personalities. This can make it extremely difficult to find your type, but when all else fails – look at how you act under stress (do you move from 4 to unhealthy 2 first, or from 5 to unhealthy 7?) and look at your fears and rank them according to what you’d sacrifice first.
5′s want independence and fear they may lack the resources to cope with the outside world. 4′s want uniqueness and fear they will never find what they seek.
4-core will sacrifice 5 needs up front, to keep 4 happy; 5-core will sacrifice 4 needs up front to keep 5 happy.
Your motives and behavior when problem solving goes: core strategies ->  wing strategies -> disintegration point -> first fix strategies* -> first fix’s wing’s strategies -> last fix strategies -> last fix’s wing’s strategies.
* There’s some debate about whether your lower tritype fixes disintegrate.

King Arthur Flour’s Baking Hotline Has Never Been Busier — and the Questions Are Getting Personal

During quarantine, the bakers who staff the hotline are providing baking — and emotional — support
On March 14, COVID-19 was declared a national emergency in the U.S., hand sanitizer profiteers made headlines, and states had yet to issue stay-at-home orders. It was also Pi Day — that is, the date 3/14, which is often cheekily observed by baking or eating pie. The date stands out to Martina Pochop because she’s a baker and because when she went to work the next day, she noticed a flood of new calls and emails. Popchop works as a baker support specialist at King Arthur Flour’s Norwich, Vermont headquarters, and part of her job is answering calls on the company’s Baker’s Hotline, a number anyone can call for advice on their doughs and batters. “It was literally overnight,” she says. “Everything just started tumbling down an endless path in search of flour.”
King Arthur Flour quietly launched its Baker’s Hotline in 1993. While it may not be as well known as the Butterball Turkey Talk Line, it displays a level of homespun commitment not seen in other culinary help lines. The Baker’s Hotline is staffed by 15 people who answer calls and emails for eight to 12 hours a day, 357 days a year. Most have culinary degrees and worked as professional bakers, chocolatiers, and chefs before coming to King Arthur, where they generally work in education, recipe-developing, or product-testing roles in addition to answering the hotline. They’ve picked up the phone so many times that many can recite their opening line as if in their sleep: baker support specialist Maggie Perry recently answered a call from her child’s pediatrician with, “Hi, this is Maggie at King Arthur.”
The holidays and summer (baking contest season) tend to be busy for the Baker’s Hotline, but those pale in comparison to the pandemic. In April, queries to the King Arthur hotline surpassed the four busiest weeks over the winter holidays, with a total of 10,406 calls and 7,740 emails, requiring six additional bakers working in other departments to step in and answer emails. It hasn’t let up: King Arthur’s staff has experienced unrelenting call volumes for three months, and during this time, the hotline has become a magnet for lonely, anxious human behavior and lots of questions about sourdough.
The baker support specialists have seen a few patterns emerge. Before the pandemic, most calls came from regular bakers on the older side, with some “frequent fliers” who called mostly just to chat. But in March, they started hearing from more beginner bakers who couldn’t easily ask family members for advice about old recipes or about the difference between all-purpose and bread flour — sometimes it was because they’d recently lost someone, other times because they lived far away and couldn’t reach them by phone. Perry also noticed that once schools shut down, parents started calling about homeschool baking projects. “[Baking is] one of those magical things. It’s science, it’s math,” she says. And more people were asking about finicky projects like pâte à choux or macarons, recipes whose long timelines newly appealed to those working from home or looking for weekend time-sucks.
As grocery store shortages went beyond sanitizer and toilet paper, calls about ingredient substitutions flooded the hotline. When grocery stores ran low on bread, people called in to ask for recipe suggestions, solutions to rising issues, and once, if it was possible to bake bread on a grill because it was too hot to turn on the oven. Callers looking for a challenge tried out sourdough, “which, for people who have never baked before, is quite an adventure, to say the least,” Pochop says. There were more calls about cookies, but ones baked with alternative flours, since all-purpose was scarce.
More time and fewer options at the grocery store have indeed made baking more popular than ever, and King Arthur’s sales have gone up as much as 600 percent accordingly (as have hits to its website). But it’s not the only thing driving thousands more callers to the Baker’s Hotline. According to Pochop, who has been with the company since 2017, “in the last couple of months, people have seemed the most lonely.”
Baked goods in particular are so often tied up with nostalgia and relationships; people seem especially anxious about messing up recipes that their loved ones usually made, or just want to talk to someone — anyone — about how much a recipe means to them. A caller may technically be asking about how to halve a recipe, but what they really want to talk about is how they’d usually make a full recipe to share with their grandchildren. “You can’t actually give them everything that they need,” Perry says. “You can just let them know that you’re there and that a lot of other people are calling with the same feelings.”
“We hear from people who just don’t know who else to call.”
King Arthur baker specialist and customer support shift lead Amanda Schlarbaum recently spoke to a woman who broke down crying after asking a yeast-related question. Her parents lived far away and she didn’t know when she’d see them again. “She was like, ‘I can’t even believe I’m crying over bread.’ And I’m like, you know, that’s where we all are right now.” The caller ended up spending $55 to send her parents a homemade loaf.
In retrospect, the Baker’s Hotline was primed to be a source of comfort during quarantine. King Arthur has a reputation for its teaching culture; its resources are notably beginner-friendly and easygoing. “If you have a process you’ve successfully followed before, then hey, stick with it. Or try this one and compare. All good,” PJ Hamel writes in the company’s oft-recommended primer on sourdough starter. On King Arthur’s social media platforms, bakers have always felt comfortable posting panicked photos of explosively large doughs or asking extremely specific questions. And when bakers tag @kingarthurflour in photos of their finished products, the company responds like an enthusiastic friend. “What a lovely bundt, Marilyn!” reads a reply to one user’s tweeted creation. “Pairing ingredients and recipes is like putting two partners together for a dance. Will they fluidly tango? Your stunning Kaiser Rolls clearly answer that question!” the company replied on Facebook when a baker paired King Arthur’s bread flour with a Cook’s Illustrated recipe.
Hotline staffers are armed with all of King Arthur’s online resources and cookbooks, as well as fat binders of their own creation filled with handwritten notes on questions that have been asked before. And they’re game for questions that extend outside the baking realm. In late April, Schlarbaum picked up the phone to a stranger who wanted to know how much extra sauce she should make if she’d bought an extra pound of oxtail. “She was so nonchalant about it,” Schlarbaum says. As Easter in quarantine approached, Pochop received a few questions about ham and potatoes.
Even non-baking questions are usually culinary in nature, so if they can, the staffers try to answer them. After all, imagine you can’t leave your house, see your more cooking-inclined family, or even get through to most customer service lines — but there is one line that promises, seven days a week, to connect you with an actual human who will earnestly try to help you out, no matter how specific your problem. “On a daily basis we hear from people who just don’t know who else to call and they saw our number on the bag of flour that they have in their hand,” says Popchop.
As unprecedented as the volume of calls has been recently, the questions are the same as they’ve always been, just modified by the constraints of a global crisis. People still call about wedding cakes, but they’re making a miniature version because the couple is celebrating without family and friends. Schlarbaum called fellow hotline staffers to discuss a mascarpone filling for her own quarantine birthday cake. People are baking to relieve stress, just as they always have done, only now the stress and the baking have increased tenfold: “You’re looking for something that you can accomplish,” Perry says. “You’re looking for something that feels good and can take care of other people.”
People are maybe a little more emotional if their buttercream isn’t mixing properly, but Schlarbaum jumps into therapist mode, advising deep breaths and walking away for 15 minutes. “I tell them when I make buttercream, I’ve ruined it every single time.” Most calls end with a relieved baker and sometimes a few extra minutes of chatting, just because the caller doesn’t want to hang up yet.
“Right now, people are bored and anxieties are running high,” Schlarbaum says, “and I think people just need someone to be like, ‘No, no, the bread will be fine. Just let it rise another half an hour. It’ll be okay.’”

[INFJ] My Article - 3 Types Of INFJs
Hello all. I wrote an article on 3 different types of INFJs I see in society. Can you please tell me if you resonate with any of this and your thoughts and opinions on it. (Of course in a kindly, friendly, way please.) Different Types Of INFJs According to my understanding, all introverts are subjective characters and the attitude of the auxiliary function always depends on the dominant function. So for the INFJ, Extraverted Feeling, (Fe), will not present itself like it would in an ENFJ but it is rather used more subjectively. Fe in INFJs will wrap around Introverted Intuition, (Ni), their dominant function, to support it. In my mind, Introverted Intuition is the function most dealing with the psyche of humanity. I thought it was important to point that out so that readers can remain aware of that as they read through this article. 1.The Psychologist - INFJs leading function, Introverted Intuition, Ni, allows them to passively read into the psyche of others and naturally makes them interested in human behavior. If you couple this with Extraverted Feeling, (Ni+Fe), this makes INFJs sometimes interested in seeking out to pick the minds of others' apart in attempt to help them up out of ruts. This makes the INFJ a natural psychologist and perhaps, therapist. The INFJ is good at listening to others' problems and prefers to do so without personal judgement. (I.E.. "This person is evil, this person is nasty, ..etc.) Psychologists will even encourage others to vent out their feelings and they have a natural ability to make others feel so at ease that they can tell the Psychologist their secrets. They don't believe in shaming people in public, especially if their true nature is that they automatically understand the psychological makeup of humanity. When Ni+Fe is used in a healthy manner, these types of INFJs are more than likely great at keeping secrets and whoever vents to them has nothing to worry about as far as their secrets leaking out to the public, goes. These types of INFJs have a natural understanding of the psychological makeup of humanity, including their own psyche and this makes them laid back from personal judgments of others. This isn't to say that these INFJs have no opinions because they definitely do but these are kept to themselves for the sake of understanding the psyche of human nature and catering to individuals so they don't feel judged. (Ni/Fe/Ti) Although I nicknamed this type of INFJ 'The Psychologist" this does not mean that if you are this type of INFJ, you pursued a career in psychology. It just means in everyday life, you pick up on others' psychological nature and the general nature of society and go about things, accordingly. Generally, this type of INFJ describes the combination of others' psychological nature and extraverted feeling tones as a "vibe" from others. For example: Someone will go up to the INFJ and ask, "We're you going to drink this Coke?" The INFJ will get the "vibe" that this person asked because they are thirsty and would like to drink the coke, even though the person didn't flat out ask. This is the INFJ's keen awareness of the way human behavior and generally, natural things in life works, even if they've never consciously studied human behavior or other happenings in life, in such a manner where they should know. So, the INFJ says, "Nope. Do you want it?" -- Catering to the others' desire to drink the coke. This is the way Fe caters to Ni in a very normal way in society. Another example is this: I consider myself to be a "weather geek" meaning I love thunderstorms, rain, snow, and etc. I've been telling my mother for years that Mammatus Clouds indicate severe weather. I don't have an education in Meteorology nor have I consciously studied topics on weather to have known this but I somehow got it right. In such a case, due to the fact I go out and look at storms with my eyes, I wasn't aware of the patterns of the weather I was picking up..but clearly, this was/is the case and is generally how Ni/Se works. These types of INFJs probably find themselves a little frustrated at society because there's so much judgment and not enough understanding of what is going on beneath the surface. Psychologists can also probably give you the run down of society as a whole and where they are headed. Everyone has this side to them but INFJs go through life, constantly picking up such psychological ques from you, society and natural occurrences around them. Of course, this is due to unconscious Extraverted Sensation, (Se) and other unconscious functions coming together to aide Ni. 2. The Mystical Artist - These types of INFJs are the quietest because they seek to express their Introverted Intuitive perception through art such as painting, sculpting, writing, singing, and etc. To further explain, INFJs are constantly picking up ques from nature, the atmosphere and their overall surroundings in a passive manner via unconscious Extraverted Sensing, (Se.) This could produce a weird perception of reality for this type of INFJ, which is obviously hard to explain. This type of INFJ, is similar to the the ISFJ- Artist in that they will seek to express these weird perceptions through Extraverted Sensation. The ISFJ gets impressions and is impacted by people, places, and things but this type of INFJ goes through life in a sort of disassociated manner, which produces a dream-like reality for them. (If I had to compare this with a psychiatric disorder, I'd say Depersonalization and Derealization.) These types of INFJs may describe things such as the atmosphere in the city, room, or general universe is changing and then they seek to fix themselves or their surroundings according to how they are perceiving these "energies." Introverted Sensation is guided by items surrounding it but for this type of Introverted Intuitive, it seems as though there is truly nothing to go on and that is the difference. Mystic Artists may call them "energies" which is part of Ni symbolism and metaphor but often, this type of INFJ doesn't realize what is going on within their psyche unless they begin to study psychology. What's going on is that they are unconsciously interpreting their (Se) surroundings and the unconscious is bringing it together in such a way that by the time it reaches consciousness, it is distorted. If this INFJ were to describe these things, he or she would come across as a lunatic the same way the ISFJ-Artist would, trying to describe one's impressions of a hair brush. So, this type of INFJ is better off to try to project his or her psychological perceptions of reality into music, sculpture, poetry, or anything else artistic they can to express themselves. This type of INFJ appears as the most removed, fickle and unpredictable to outsiders because they are literally guided by their Introverted Intuitive perception of reality and change with the psychological energies that seem to present themselves to this type. Overall, it is no telling how this type of INFJ would use Fe as it would become extremely dependent on one's dominant function, (Ni), thus making them similar to the IEI-Ni subtype in Socionics. One could only hope or guess that others are perceiving life the way the Mystic Artist does, through his or her art. More than likely though, this isn't the case..because it is too subjective to ever tell. It is wise not to assume that everyone who paints is an SP type as ISFJ and INFJs and even perhaps, INTJs with a Ni subtype pick up this ability as well. 3. The Spiritualist - Sure, Introverted Intuition isn't a 'spiritual' function but you can gather that INFJs and INTJs will be more than likely the types to lean towards living a spiritualist kind of life. By the term, spiritual, I mean as far as paying attention to things one can't verify through the 5 senses. It's obvious how this is used in the normal sense to pick up on ques but no one ever seems to dive deep into how deep the psychological nature of Ni users, goes or how far it can go. The Spiritualist is the INFJ who dives into such metaphysical studies such as channeling for instant answers, spirit guides, tarot cards, astrology, (Which can also be given to INTJ because Astrology is a psycho-intuitive process, the measurement of time.. and it gives predictions of future events.) prophetic dreams, and etc. This isn't to say tarot cards, metaphysics, or etc is Ni in and of itself but the way these materials are used and what for, is what makes it Introverted Intuition, (Ni.) For those who prefer a more concrete explanation for this: a lot of psychologists would say all of these things are the subconscious at work and only reflect our own psyche back to us. For this reason, one might say some usefulness could come out of all of the metaphysical and esoteric stuff because one gets to know their subconscious on a deeper level, while others suggest these things are actually working the way they are presented. I will save the argument because there really is no way to know, although, often times the Spiritual Teacher feels as though they do know. Yet this isn't a rational feeling but an irrational feeling, stimulated by Introverted Intuition. (Ni) The Spiritual Teacher has a habit of perceiving information, (insight via Ni by any means), and trying to apply it to their lives and may try to use it to help others' lives. They will have insights about life with no prior experience and will come up with teachings to help others how they see fit. This doesn't mean they have to be good according others as if they are unhealthy, they can lead others in what society would deem a universally bad way. They often can be seen as prophets or channelers of higher spirits and come bearing a message from what they claim to be higher beings, whether false prophets or true prophets. The nature of Ni is that one will never be able to tell, even if the prophecy did appear to come true. (Jung used John The Baptist as an example of this character.) Contrary to popular belief, you still find these types of INFJs in society and you can especially look on Youtube and find them. These types are sometimes considered old souls, wise beyond their years, and odd among the concrete normal, concrete dominated society, aka regular folks. They live life based on what they deem the meaning of it, which they reach through insights, although they cannot explain how they got those insights. This is what separates these insights from Universal or Objective Thinking, Extaverted Thinking, (Te) and Theosophy. It isn't like someone who sat around pondering the meaning of life but rather one who just woke up knowing the meaning of life, if you will. To the spiritual teacher, it is as easy as knowing the color of your skin and they will insist that "they don't know how they know, they just know" which might drive a reasonable mind, insane. These types of INFJs are also more likely to be teachers of certain philosophy for the betterment of others. Please keep in mind that although I wrote abut 3 specific types of INFJs, if you are an INFJ, you may relate to 1, 2, or all 3 of these. :) Inferior Extraverted Sensation In all 3 types of INFJs, there is inferior Extraverted Sensation, (Se), which rears its ugly head pretty much the same in all of them. For example, what is to be considered normal type of INFJ - The Psychologist, becomes overwhelmed and will seek to withdrawal from society. They may overindulge on food, become compulsive, impulsive, and impatient with others, until they finally collapse. The Mystic Artist may be at risk of losing touch with reality without a sufficient way to express, while compulsively continuing to indulge in sensory pleasures and becoming more judgmental of life, in general. The Spiritual Teacher may begin to become irritated with society and others who lead "normal and concrete" lives, overly depend on channeling spirits, getting insights and reading too deep into them and teaching others information that they themselves even only partially understand. They may also be at risk of becoming obsessed with a specific prophecy or theory of impending apocalyptic doom. In general INFJs are not out of touch with emotions. In fact, they can be in touch with their personal emotions but they often try to pin these down if they are catering to others. However, if they need to vent, they will want to and during times of stress, they will have outbursts that are sometimes, not pretty. When I say, "under stress" I don't mean only when they get burnt out but also when they get irritated or impatient with others. They are more likely be become hysterical. (Fe/Ti). I wrote an article about this, already but the best way to deal with Inferior Se is to change one's surroundings. Go out and be in nature, play a sport, exercise, ride bikes, or try rearranging the furniture in your house. Remember, your dominant function is truly orientated by your surroundings via your inferior, so this, (Se), will also be a key to resolving the issue. This blog was one telling of the different types of INFJs in society based on my own comprehension of the functions, described by Jung, my understanding of how they work together, and my observations of these types I see in society. (As well as myself.) I understand this entire thing is a theory and please know that I'm aware my blog posts are not the end all be all. If it resonates with you and makes sense to you, that is great. If not, you may chime in and correct me where you disagree... just make sure you are nice about it and there will be no issues. http://www.typologycentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93530&goto=newpost&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

Magic and History
Plagg rubbed his neck "The history of the Ring huh, well it's shorter than one would think and yet somehow at the same time darker than you'd expect". Adrien had been curious about the history of the Miraculous and the Kwami bound to them for some time but now it was at the forefront of his mind. "Well I don't think you want to hear the life story of each of your precursors so I'll tell you the short version which goes a little something like this. And let me preface by saying Kwami and other magical beings have existed long before the creation of the Miraculous. The Ring was one of the first to be created but it was the first to be wielded, the original Noir and first ever wielder was the same man who created all Miraculous 'The Sorcerer' as he is known to us. Since him there have only been fourteen other designated wielders, however only about half of them have ever worked alongside a Ladybug. You are the fifteenth wielder and the seventh to ever work with a Ladybug, not even the Sorcerer worked with one so you're lucky kid. Noirs were more often than not wielders that I alone had chosen because I saw things in them that the Guardians couldn't or just to spite them".
Adrien raised his hand like he was in class "What do you know of the Guardians?".
"Shortly after the Sorcerer's passing the Miraculous were seized by the 'Order the Guardians' and placed in what is now known as the Miraculous box. The intent of the Order was to use the Miraculous and their power to protect and benefit humanity, the Order would bestow the power to those deemed worthy by it's clergy and the Kwami in question. If a Kwami was not being wielded they were probably helping with more practical tasks like studying, developing and attuning magic. I spent many millennia in the box alone, because my power was deemed too dangerous to be used by anyone. So whenever they slipped up I slipped out and picked my own wielder or just went and had some fun but usually I went to talk with the other Kwami and their wielders. Sometimes I would get lucky though and the acting guardian would let me out ,much to the chagrin of the clergy of course, so it wasn't all bad".
"So what happened to the Order, I know they're gone now but how can an organization that powerful just disappear?" Adrien asked leaning closer with a sleeping Belial on his shoulder.
"At one point the Order had spread across the world but with the rise of other religions and their fanatical spreading of faith the Order was forced into shadow and became nomadic. Despite being so wide spread they were more scholars than fighters and they had no way of defending themselves if a large enough force decided they were hoarding gifts of their god. Over time the order became smaller and smaller until it resembled a gypsy cult, giving power to those the Kwami chose. Infighting between survivors resulted in Miraculous being bestowed on impulse or stolen, which is how all of the Chat and Ladybug teams occurred".
Adrien held his hand up "Stolen?" he asked nervously.
Plagg smiled "Shinobi tend to take advantage of discourse among groups, and not all tribes or warrior cultures were closed minded, even religious kingdoms can surprise you. Though some wishes were made despite the warnings of the Guardians".
"Wishes?"
Plagg chuckled "A guy doesn't just wake up after being dead for three days" Adrien put his head in his hands, "Shall I continue?".
"I think I get the gist of what the other guardians did before what Master Fu has told me" Adrien said shaking his head. After a moment he moved to his next question "What about previous wielders what happened to them?".
Plagg paused for a moment rubbing his chin "How do I explain this" he thought aloud "I can't speak for non wielders but for all previous and current wielders there is a sort-of afterlife. Your soul is taken from your body at the moment of death and becomes part of the first Kwami you were chosen by even if you wielded more than one Miraculous. Meaning when a wielder dies in combat or long after having retired from disease or age they join the ranks of the precursors". Adrien leaned back slumping into the couch his mind raced as he pieced together a timeline of major events and legends that shaped the world. "I think that's enough history for now" Plagg said before flying over to a pillow and curling up to sleep. He wanted to tell him about his most predecessor but that could wait. For now Plagg wanted to give the kid time to enjoy his much-earned freedom and to let the knowledge of where he will ultimately go settle in.
Adrien pulled out his phone and began researching myths that ,with this new knowledge, had begun to sound more and more feasible. After School Fe' entered the apartment to see Adrien sitting with his hair a mess and staring at Plagg "Adrien you look a meme format what happened?" she asked casually.
Adrien turned slowly to look at her, his expression unchanging "I think I've been sharing drinks with the guy that broke Pangea into contents".
"You wanna run that by me again" Fe' replied now mirroring his expression, Adrien proceeded to take the next few hours to explain what Plagg had told him and his theories to Fe'.
Across the street Marinette had returned from their regular search for Adrien, Tikki was trying to get her to study. "Mari, Chat said he was fine and you have to study for that math quiz next week" Tikki told her after she had asked about what happened during Chat's fight with Private Eye.
"Tikki he wasn't himself in that fight, when it was Kaleidotherapist he was just mad, but this was something else, he didn't have the Ring how did he transform?" Marinette asked.
Sighing Tikki relented "He wasn't transformed ,not really, Plagg used a forbidden technique, it was reckless and ,if you hadn't been there, fatal".
Marinette was intrigued now, she wanted to know more "What was it and who 'forbade' it in the first place?" she asked.
"It was forbidden by the Order of the Guardians after some 'unfortunate incidents' occurred to too many wielders, as for what Plagg did" Tikki sighed heavily remembering the 'incidents' vividly. "Plagg became Chat's heart ,literally replacing it, allowing his wielder to use pure magic, un-channeled and uncontrolled, doing so allows nearly unrivaled amounts of power. But the human body was never meant to use pure magic, with the Miraculous the magic is channeled and safe to use while transformed, kind of like a fail-safe. But that technique negates that and the cost is the life and mental stability of the one using the un-channeled magic. The user is driven insane or goes on a rampage to some degree and after five minutes they are left with an empty cavity in their chest, their heart disappears. There are numerous magics and techniques that were dubbed too dangerous to be used by the Order" Tikki explained.
Marinette took a moment to let that information sink in but she was still curious "Who were the 'The Order of the Guardians' Master Fu mentioned them but he said they were destroyed". Tikki indulged Marinette's curiosity explaining the history and origin of the Miraculous and of the Order as she too got lost in a history lesson. Compared to Plagg's description Tikki made the order sound necessary rather than a religion and it's downfall as a tragedy instead of an inevitability. Tikki had been outside of the box for the grand majority of the time that the Order had existed so her and Plagg's purview of the Order were far from the same. She had more incite on how the Order had operated and how it had spread across the world. This combined with her near constant involvement in the process of magic attunement and creation Tikki was able to give a more detailed explanation of the Order's purpose. She explained that there had been dozens of Ladybugs and scores of wielders of the other Miraculous, all together they numbered over one thousand. She purposefully never mentioned the number of Noirs or any of the previous Ladybug and Chat Noir duos. Tikki felt that Mari was not yet ready to hear of her precursors, the one she was succeeding in particular.
"Oh no, we're gonna be late for patrol" Marinette said having glanced at the clock, she quickly transformed "Tikki, Spots On" and left through her skylight.
When Plagg had awoken expecting to be called to go on patrol he was greeted by both Fe' and Adrien staring at him, "You started doing research didn't you?" he asked in a knowing tone.
"Pangea, splitting the Red Sea, Pompeii" Adrien listed.
Plagg smiled wide replying with a list of his own "I sneezed, it was a wish, and I wanted fondue" Adrien and Fe's looked at each other then back to him without a word. "So are we going on patrol or what, Adrien?" he asked wanting the silence that had filled the room to end.
Adrien stood and left the room, when he returned he had switched into a pair of jeans and a maroon zip-up hoodie, throwing up his hood he transformed "Plagg, Claws Out". Chat looked at the Ring "You've got some more history to tell but that can wait" he turned to Fe' "I'll be at the tavern, if you need me give me a call". Patrol was boring as usual but his rendezvous with Ladybug had him feeling like he was visiting a therapist.
"Are you sure you're feeling ok, you had gaping holes in your body. Do you have any unusual cat-like urges? Is your heart beating at a normal rate?" Ladybug was far too concerned.
"LB, I'm paw-stivly fine, there's nothing furr you to worry about" Chat said trying to get his partner to come down. He knew why she was asking, in truth he was wondering about the specifics of what Plagg had done and he knew there was one way to find out. "Plagg, Claws In" Ladybug was shocked at how Chat openly de-transformed in front of her but was quickly disappointed to see him completely covered. "Hey Plagg, you mind explaining what it was you did during the Private Eye fight" he said looking over the city, Ladybug listened despite already having already heard an explanation from Tikki.
"I replaced your heart and let you use magic without the need to channel it through a miraculous, it only grants a partial transformation however. When it wears off your heart is gone and ordinarily you die seconds later from internal bleeding" Plagg explained.
"What about losing his mind, what about how he could have leveled Paris" Ladybug blurted out covering her mouth when she realized what she'd said. Plagg turned to Ladybug with a questioning look that bore down on her "I asked my Kwami about it too and that's what she told me" she explained. "Tikki told me that Plagg used a forbidden technique and it would have killed you had I not been there".
"I would have been dead even if Plagg didn't use the 'forbidden technique' and Plagg wasn't exactly in the know on a lot of things during the time of the Order's reign" Adren argued. Then looking to Ladybug meeting her gaze "I'm also assuming your Kwami told of the Order, correct?".
She nodded "Yes it is a shame that so much was lost when it fell".
Adrien shrugged turning his gaze back to the city "With how the balance of power was shifting in the world, perhaps it was for the better that the Order disappeared". He could feel the intense seething stare of Ladybug through his hood "Think about it, how different would major historical events be had the order still been present throughout recorded history. The paradigm of the world would be changed forever". Ladybug malled over her partners words, she hadn't thought about it that way and as much as she didn't like it she knew he was right. If the Order were to be revived and it's knowledge restored, the effects on the world today could be catastrophic.
"Damn this kid is about as hardcore as it gets isn't he "
"Did you say something, Plagg?" Adrien asked looking around.
Plagg shook his head "I didn't say anything kid".
"Wait did he hear me?"
"LB is that you?" he asked again.
She too shook her head "No I didn't say anything".
"Oh my- GUYS COME HERE"
Voices came from all around him, some male others female all blending together, he began to have flashbacks of when he got jumped in the hoods and of paparazzi. Hitting himself in the head Adrien began muttering to himself "Ugh get out of my head already, why can I hear them now, shut up already" he closed his eyes and hummed a lullaby. The voices faded and after a moment they were gone, when he opened his eyes Ladybug was kneeling next to him reaching for him, Plagg floated next to her looking concerned.
Ladybug placed a hand on his shoulder "Hey, are you ok?" she asked in a low voice rubbing his arm.
Adrien nodded "Yeah, I just had a bad flashback for some reason".
"Do you want to talk about it?" Plagg asked.
"Not right now, something tells me a relapse on the Eiffel Tower is a bad idea" Adrien smiled but then he remembered "You can't see it but I'm smiling, and thank you for caring but I'm fine". He stood and changed the subject "Plagg, let's get to work before we're late, Plagg, Claws Out".
"I didn't think there would be anyone with a deep enough connection to any Kwami, not since the fall that is" The voices had returned louder now.
"I'm surprised that the Guardian let another Lady-Noir team happen after-"
"HEY, we agreed not to talk about that unless it was to the new guy"
"Sorry, sorry you're right"
Chat stopped on a roof headbutting a nearby wall "If you don't shut up I'm going to rip my ears off" the voices stopped, he looked around searching for the sound but saw nothing "Plagg, Claws In".
"Adrien, I think we need to talk about another magic" Plagg said seeming to try and calm him down.
"Yeah I think we do, Plagg" Adrien plopped down looking like an aggressive 'The Thinker'. "So tell me Plagg, why am I hearing voices of people who very clearly-".
"Your connection with me is deep Adrien, and you are beginning to make contact with your precursors even if you're not meaning to" Plagg said cutting Adrien off. He took a deep breath before explaining further "You and I have become close ,like brothers, and the way you trust me with your secrets, your understanding of me, everything-".
Adrien finished the sentence relaxing "-Has formed a bond deep enough to trigger something".
Plagg chuckled "Yes, if you focus hard enough on the voices I think you'll be surprised at what you see" Adrien gave him a look "Just listen" he encouraged. Adrien did as he said and closed his eyes to focus, listening for the voices.
"Oh now he wants to listen" one said annoyed.
Another sounded purposefully ghost-like "Burn the orphanage".
"Hey guys who wants to flash the new guy" a female voice called.
Adrien put his head in his hand "Are all of you just overgrown children?" he asked.
A different female voice spoke whispering in his ear, she sounded younger "Don't worry Plagg is ,as you say, a man of culture".
Adrien couldn't help but let out a genuine laugh "Ooohh this is going to an interesting introduction" he stated before opening his eyes, fourteen translucent figures stood before him. Nine were male and five were female all of varying age from what looked like seventeen to mid thirties, each was garbed in the Chat Noir color pallet with splashes of other colors. They all were fully clothed to his relief.
The oldest and most plain looking of them stepped forward "It is nice to finally speak with you young one, and it is nice to see you again as well, Plagg".
"Plagg, a-are you crying?" Adrien asked.
"NO! YOU'RE CRYING" Plagg retorted wiping his tears.
Adrien chuckled "Suuurrree" he replied sarcastically before Plagg poked him in the eyes "AUGH ow you little cheese goblin". Everyone laughed but while rubbing his eyes Adrien remembered where he had been going before "Oh sh-Plagg, we're gonna be late, sorry to cut this short everyone". The other Noirs nodded in understanding before disappearing.
"I'm ready when you are" Plagg said as he sniffled and wiped his tears again.
Adrien sighed " I don’t know who that was but you'll see him again I promise but I need to get to work. Plagg, Claws Out”.
Back at the Tower Ladybug was still worrying about her partner, he was getting back to how he was but something was still different from how he was. He used to flirt whenever he got the chance and be ecstatic if she touched him in a caring manner, now he simply brushed off his problems thanking her for her concern. The dynamic between them had shifted and Ladybug wasn't quite sure how to feel about it. "Chat does seem to be more mature, on the one hand that makes him less of a flirt but on the other I almost miss the atmosphere he brought with him. He does seem to be going back to his old punny self ,at least a little, I just hope that everything's ok in his civilian life" Ladybug thought to herself on her way home.
Chat de-transformed as he entered the Square choosing to use the streets waving hello to the few late-bedders who kept an eye out for trouble makers late at night. Adrien burst through the tavern doors, gave Milo a passing "Hello" and sprinted into the back, throwing his sweater and shirt into his locker to change into his work shirt. When he emerged he was winded but ready to work but he couldn't wait until he was off to speak with the precursors.
Almost two weeks went by without any action ,not even a petty theft or mugging, and the second weekend was coming, Marinette and the others had continued to look for Adrien. Luka joined them regularly and was a great help in coordinating with volunteers and rotating groups to keep morale high. Nino had stopped joining them saying that he wanted to honor his friend’s wishes which the others respected, he used his extra time to help with the tavern's remaining renovations. The group had decided they would take weekends off in the future to give everyone some time to be with loved ones and relax. The girls had another sleep over to talk and relax, they had even invited Chloe' who had changed greatly in the past few weeks becoming good friends with everyone. As messed up as it was to say she had to admit, Adrien's disappearance had somehow brought out the best in her.
Nino had been Adrien's link to the class via lunchtime emails, every time the phone dinged the class held its breath hoping for an update. Every time they met Nino would remind his brother that he still needed to get those signal beanies he mentioned during the Cheshire meeting. Adrien would always say he was getting to it and eventually he would but for the time being he was occupied with other matters. Using time between patrols and lulls at work Adrien practiced talking with the other wielders, It had become almost second nature to him, now he could choose to block them out entirely, passively listen, or let them manifest at will. He had yet to tell anyone of them but late night renovation sessions provided ample time for him to chat with them without looking mentally insane. The other wielders had better explained how their conversation worked since Plagg had little experience with a wielder whom he shared a deep enough connection.
Paksis the second wielder, was especially knowledgeable since he was one of the few that had managed to make a deep connection with Plagg. "Previous wielders are not always watching though we are always capable of watching regardless of whether or not we can speak with or be seen by the current wielder. Precursors can only watch the wielder of their Miraculous so we can't watch the current wielder. At least one of us must also be present for the connection to work, if you were to try and manifest us when no one was present nothing would happen".
Nalma the youngest of the previous wielders and fourth wielder, was much more enthusiastic than the others, she knew a lot about how much they could see about him. "It's kind of like a constant group call that we all join and leave at will, you can even let anyone see and hear us so long as they're in contact with the Ring or it's wielder. Though I get bored real easy and while most of the others are content with watching you in the here and now ,I like to go deeper, the present isn't the only thing we can watch of the current wielder. No, no, no we can see your past too ,even before your time as a wielder, I'm the only one who's looked that deep of course, the others don't do it out of respect for your privacy. But I gotta hand it to you kid, I think out of all of us you take the cake for most hardcore origin story". Adrien talked to her the most both passively and manifested but liked to keep his head clear unless he was really bored and Plagg was sleeping or talking with Ladybug and Tikki elsewhere.
His most important history lesson however came one morning as the sun was preparing to peer over the horizon. As his eyes opened he was greeted by a pair of giant blue eyes that belonged to none other than Tikki who had been chatting with Plagg the night before.
"What have they told you?" she asked, Adrien jolted back not expecting someone other than Plagg to be so close. The sudden movement made both Belial and Plagg stir in their sleep, the two of them had been curled up together in Adriens lap all night. "What have they told you?" Tikki repeated.
"About what?" Adrien replied confused as to what exactly she was referring to.
Tikki flew closer ,Adrien leaned back, "Your Precursors, what have they told you and how long have you been in contact with them?".
Adrien feigned being groggy as he focused to manifest whoever was watching but there was no one, he didn't know what to say or how much she knew so he improvised. "I started hearing them a while ago, since then I've been listening and speaking with them. All they've told me is how to talk with them and what they can see" he explained.
Tikki backed off with a sigh "Good then they haven't told you".
As if summoned by her words Xylon the fourteenth wielder Adrien's predecessor, manifested "Tikki seems to be giving you an ear-full about talking to us I see" he said looking smug.
Adrien didn't look at him but he needed to let Xylon know what was going on, making a confused expression he asked "What, what haven't they told me?". Xylon's smug smile disappeared at his question replaced by one of somber remembrances, he left shortly after with his arms wrapped around himself.
Gasped then covered her mouth "I've said too much" without another word she flew through him.
Adrien sat confused and curious "Plagg, what was she talking about?".
Plagg rubbed his eyes and yawned "You're gonna have to be more specific kid, I was pretty out of it, all I heard was voices".
"Tikki was asking me 'what did they tell you' and something about 'they haven't told you yet', got any idea what she was talking about?" Adrien elaborated.
Plagg shot to full alertness "I uh, I don't know what she was talking about no" he stammered.
Adrien leveled him with a look "Plagg, what aren't you telling me, it seems like everyone knows something that neither I or Ladybug do". Xylon manifested once more with Nalma at his side, she was comforting him with a hand on his back. Adrien was concerned now "What grenade did I just pull the pin on".
Nalma looked to him "We should go somewhere more private".
Adrien nodded "Plagg?".
"I'm ready, Kid"
"Claw Out" Chat headed toward the Louvre with Belial on his shoulder like always, taking a seat atop the decorative railing that spanned the roof. The museum was closed for maintenance and the cleaning crews were inside, it was as secluded as it was he could get without Ladybug finding him. Xylon and Nalma were silent during the trip and only reappeared together again when he stopped.
"Do you know why there hasn't been a Black Cat since Xylon?" Nalma asked
Adrien shook his head "No, I just assumed that no suitable wielder had been chosen or there was no need for another, not until Hawkmoth appeared that is". He had never thought about the history of the other wielders, he also hadn't noticed until now that Xylon's voice was the one that mentioned something they agreed not to speak of.
Xylon sat down leveling himself with Adrien "I lived during the European Witch trial of the 1400's, for most of my time as a wielder I worked alone. I protected those who had been wrongly accused of witchcraft and even those who were in fact dabbling in the arcane arts. I was hated and hunted by the Church, eventually I was granted the Ladybug Earrings and told to choose the one that would wield it. I made my choice and she was amazing, beautiful, and driven by a sense of duty to protect everyone she could. We had worked together for only a few months but we saved many lives" he choked on his words.
Nalma embraced and whispered to him, after a moment of sobbing softly into her shoulder he lifted his head and began again picking up where he left off still in Nalma's arms. "I, I am unsure of the specifics of how it happened but one day she stopped showing up, it wasn't until weeks later that Tikki found me and informed me her wielder had been seen. She told me that she was taken and the miraculous were taken from her, I knew I needed to find her and I knew where they would have taken her. After fighting my way into the prison and stealing prisoner documents I learned of everything they had done to her. They kept detailed records of everything that they did to her, they tortured her, starved her, raped her, beat her, and sent her to the cathedral. I rode by horse back for days but I was too late, by the time I got there all I could do was watch her writhe and scream as she was burned at the stake, I was powerless. I retreated into myself refusing to leave the attic I hid in for what felt like a lifetime while they celebrated and relished her agony and death".
Adrien was seething, his jaw was clenched so hard it hurt, he slammed his fist down creating large cracks in the stone. "Tell me they died screaming" he uttered through gritted teeth, Nalma’s head shot up looking to him, "ALL OF THEM" he added.
Xylon wiped the tears from his eyes before continuing once more "I slaughtered every single one of them, those that were at her burning or involved in her torment. I killed indiscriminately, Men, Women, the Children who threw stones at her while she burned, and those that partook in the celebration they all died by my hand. When the perpetrators were gone I set my sights on the Clergy, I cut a bloody swath through Italy to the Vatican, I wish they would have let me string those up pigs by their own-".
"I think you should go calm down, I'll tell him the rest" Nalma interrupted, Xylon looked at her before giving her a nod and dissipating. "Long story short, Xylon was responsible for putting an end to the Witch trails in Europe and changing the course of history. He retired shortly after, returning both the Earrings and returned the Ring to the nomads. After witnessing his trail of carnage he had created using the Ring's power they decided that the Ring should not be used unless all other options had been exhausted". Nalma bit her lip before telling him "I need to go make sure that he doesn't have a mental breakdown, do us a favor and don't tell Tikki or the Ladybug about what we told you". Chat sat there for a few minutes, his blood still boiling at the thought of what had happened to the last Ladybug, a meow from Belial snapped him back to reality. Keeping secrets wasn't exactly new to him but he found that this one in particular left a foul taste in his mouth, Chat hoped that his partner never learned of her predecessor's fate.
Plagg had apologized for not telling him sooner but Adrien waved it off like always "I'm not mad or disappointed Plagg ,I hate that stereotype, you warned me after all". Adrien had expected dark but Xylon's story was exceptionally grim but he did wonder what the long version of the story was, he felt like they weren’t telling him everything. "Who's 'they' and why would the end of a story be long?" these questions echoed in his head during patrol but he knew that neither the wielders or Plagg would tell him more. For the time being Adrien pushed those questions to the back of his mind, filing them under "To be answered" in his mental vault. He also decided to honor that favor Nalma asked of him and didn't tell a soul of what he knew about his predecessor.

(1) Hi Em, I'm writing to ask for your opinion on my MBTI. 40s, woman in PNW, freelance creative who writes and edits fiction all day. This is a second career after training in health care that I chose based on an MBTI® test I took while dithering in my last undergrad semester (I took an extra year to complete a degree that I found fascinating—interdisciplinary studies—but was not as useful in practice as the prospectus claimed).
(2) I'm high risk for Covid so quarantining since February, but my life has changed little. I WFH, and I do most of my communicating via the internet; I have been active on message boards and listservs since the mid-1990s, and I felt like the internet was the first place I could speak my mind and talk to people with fellow esoteric interests. Vastly prefer to communicate via written word over speaking because I like to have as much time to compose an argument as possible.
(3) I am not great off-the-cuff unless well-versed about the topic; then I can improvise, taking off on random tangents that I end up apologizing for when I realize I've floated off into talking about something I'm interested in, but not really related to the topic at-hand. I feel very at ease when I can go into a new situation and take skills and knowledge into a new context because it feels like a brand new experience even when I am using an old skill-set. An example, possibly not great:
(4) Poetic devices fascinate me; while they're typically found in form poems, I love to puzzle over how to use them in fiction in a subtle way that calls attention to word play, arrangement of the words on the page, the sound of the word order and what subtext they all convey when working as a whole within prose, which is often more informative. Literary style via grammar and structure are essential to my work philosophy, and I've been called pretentious / intense when arguing their importance.
(5) I tend to over-prepare via research with the subconscious plan that I can practice living via a simulacrum in order to do it really well when I go out. This is not actually the case, but it's taken my entire conscious life to get it, and even then, my therapist pointed it out for me to consider. I tend to plan great extraverted experiences with a lot of excitement but then I often putter out before taking any action, but it's usually more disappointing to the other people involved
(6) myself when things fizzle out.  In decision-making, I think I make the most logical choice, but I expect that the majority of people think so. I've pulled myself back from life decisions that I thought were too illogical only to regret not doing what I originally thought was the best choice for me. Example: choosing an MSW program over an MFA program because I needed a solid career that could be easily sought in most areas of the country. I did not think about how I run—sometimes, literally—
(7) situations and most people in ICU care are experiencing trauma, so they're not rational people looking for the most logical choice.  In the lowest points of my life, I pretty much enter a catatonic state where I drop out of life, and spend time I don't have on taking apart my favorite novels to see how they work and why with the intention that it will help me with my current project. I get paranoid that I've made mistakes with people that I'll never be able to make up for, and I need
(8) a lot of reassurances that I am not stupid. I sleep and snack, ad nauseam, while dwelling on how everyone hates me because I am a selfish asshole. Thank you for your time (and I hope I didn't just waste it). I really enjoy your blog, and appreciate the time you take to help strangers out in your free time.
----------
So I think there might be something missing between part 6 and 7? Feel free to ask me.
Based on this you definitely sound like you’re on the Si-Ne axis and probably Ti-Fe but I’m not totally positive on how they fit together. The examples are good but some happen to have a few potential causes. My guess is INTP.
From this, it sounds like you made a lot of decisions sort of...externally, for lack of a better way to put it? It also sounds like you were somewhat indecisive when younger, and I definitely think interdisciplinary studies sounds like it would particularly attract high Ne users. The part about using poetic devices in prose also isn’t going to be limited to a high Ne user, but that definitely sounds like something that a high Ne user would be particularly attracted to - taking something from one context and putting it in another, and the general blending of ideas.
The Ti-Fe comes more from first, suspecting high Ne in the first place, and then the emphasis not just on logic (I agree most people perceive themselves as logical) but on taking things apart to see how they work, and the focus on poetic and argument structure.
I think some of the preparation elements come from the fact that at this point you’d have pretty good Si, and because some of what you said sounds extremely like enneagram 5 (which also points to high Ti) - “ I tend to over-prepare via research with the subconscious plan that I can practice living via a simulacrum in order to do it really well when I go out” is pretty much the fundamental struggle of 5.

King Arthur Flour’s Baking Hotline Has Never Been Busier — and the Questions Are Getting Personal added to Google Docs

While it may not be as well known as the https://www.eater.com/2016/11/21/13680626/butterball-turkey-hotline-behind-the-scenes" rel="nofollow">Butterball Turkey Talk Line, it displays a level of homespun commitment not seen in other culinary help lines.

Active-Assistive Robotic Therapy is on the Rise. Here’s Why.
If you work in physical rehabilitation, you’ve probably noticed a major shift in thinking regarding stroke rehab.
These days, it’s generally accepted that high-intensity dosing is vital for optimum recovery following strokes. The problem is that achieving these high-dosage levels is extremely difficult using traditional techniques.
While the demand for increased dosage continues to grow, contextual and job-related demands remain the same. That makes the problem of meeting intensity demands—without increasing physical strain on therapists—a major challenge.
Active-assistive robotic therapy is changing that.
If you’re an occupational therapist, physical therapist, or physician, active-assistive robotic therapy could make a difference in your patients’ lives. Here is what you need to know about active-assistive robotic therapy, current evidence supporting its use, and the major systems on the market today.
What is active-assistive robotic therapy?
Active-assistive robotic therapy—also known as “robotic therapy,” or “robot-assisted therapy”—simply refers to the use of a robotic device in therapy.
But let’s take a step back and define what a robot actually is.
A robot is essentially a machine capable of performing complex tasks and actions—usually with an advanced level of speed and precision.
Robots vary in complexity and intelligence, and many people use them on a daily basis in their career fields. Some examples of robotic technologies might include industrial robotics in the car industry (which are designed for safer manufacturing processes), security and law enforcement-aiding robots, and robot-assisted surgical devices (including minimally invasive and remote surgery platforms).
Rehabilitation robots are their own breed.
Rehabilitation robots are intelligent devices that use sensors to monitor human movement and positioning, then use this feedback in order to interact with the environment.
These active-assistive robotic technologies are not only effective as clinical interventions, but can also help with assessments. Many of them are capable of measuring and storing parameters of patient function which can aid in long-term clinical evaluation. With the ability to detect and measure small changes in movements and forces, these devices can assist therapists in the process of treatment planning and goal setting.
What types of robotic therapy devices are out there?
Rehabilitation robotic devices fall into two categories: upper extremity (UE) and lower extremity (LE) systems.
LE rehabilitation robots include:
Exoskeleton devices
Foot orthoses
In-clinic body-weight support systems, such as:
Treadmill gait trainers
Stationary gait trainers
Foot-plate gait trainers
Overground gait trainers [8]
There are two types of UE rehabilitation robots:
Portable assistive devices or orthoses for the hand or arm
In-clinic devices used in occupational or physical therapy
Few portable devices are available today, but many choices are available for use in the clinic.
Example of an upper extremity in-clinic robotic therapy device.
Major in-clinic upper extremity systems
There are two general types of in-clinic robotic therapy systems: exoskeletons and end-effectors.
End-effector systems offer a faster setup and greater adaptability when compared to exoskeleton devices, which instead offer more precise joint isolation. End-effectors usually make contact with the limb at the distal end of the device, utilizing a hand rest or arm cradle to support the affected UE.
Exoskeleton systems mirror the structure of the human skeleton and joint movements. Exoskeletons offer more precise control of joints, but they also require a longer and more complex setup time, can be a bit larger, and may feel confining for some patients.
What evidence supports robotic therapy?
New evidence shows that there’s a critical window in cortical plasticity during the first two weeks following a cerebral-vascular accident (CVA) [1].
This means that clinicians are tailoring stroke programs and interventions earlier in the rehabilitation process, and they are increasing both dosing and intensity.
Therapists are also integrating new technologies such as:
EMG/Biofeedback
FES (functional electrical stimulation)
Sensor-based systems
Virtual reality
Brain stimulation for neurological rehabilitation
New evidence suggests that by increasing the number of motor repetitions earlier in the rehabilitation process, patients will enjoy improved UE functional recovery [1]. Active-assistive robotic therapy is a promising technology to address intensity and dosing in UE motor training.
In addition:
Active-assistive robotic therapy has been shown to both reduce spasticity, and to improve motor function and range of motion in the upper extremity (UE) [2].
Sensorimotor training with robotic therapy can improve motor control of the shoulder and elbow, and it can also improve upper extremity (UE) functional outcomes [3].
Technologies such as video games or robotics can maximize motor control earlier in the rehabilitation continuum [4].
Driven by new requirements for earlier, more intensive training in stroke rehabilitation, the use of active-assistive robotic therapy is becoming increasingly common in clinical therapy settings.
How can active-assistive robotic therapy help our patients?
It provides forced use of the affected upper extremity
A review of the evidence surrounding constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) following stroke (such as the EXCITE trial) reveals many potential benefits of robotic therapy.
For instance, while CIMT is effective for higher-level patients with active movement in the wrist and hand, it has its limitations when used in the clinic with lower-level patients who have greater motor impairments. This has generally meant that more impaired patients miss out on the benefits of CIMT.
But one of the best applications of active-assistive robotic therapy platforms, such as the Barrett UE Robotic Trainer (BURT), is that it allows patients with trace-to-poor motor function in the upper extremity—ones who are usually considered too low-level to participate in traditional CIMT treatment—the opportunity to benefit from this type of forced-use intervention.
It creates proper intensity and dosing
Intensity is the name of the game in current clinical research. A 2012 study by John Krakauer found that animal test subjects required 400 motor repetitions per session to facilitate optimum changes in neuroplasticity following stroke [1].
But to achieve this level of high-intensity task dosing, clinicians face a dilemma: How can you meet the current standards of research and best practice—without increasing physical strain on therapists, leaving other clinical priorities unfulfilled, or breaking the rigid rules for therapy time in the clinic?
Active-assistive robotic therapies can help by providing high-dose, task-repetitive movements, while minimizing therapist fatigue and strain.
It enables gravity-eliminated planes and graded assistance
Do you ever wish that it were easier to work in gravity-eliminated planes when performing one-on-one treatments?
Upper extremity motor learning follows a natural progression—from passive to active movement, and from gravity-eliminated movements to movements against gravity. UE robots that target the shoulder let patients work in gravity-eliminated planes of the shoulder complex. Therapists can do this without compromising posture or being restricted to a tabletop surface.
Some systems even allow therapists to isolate the planes of movement associated with synergistic and reflexive movement patterns. Active robotic assistance can be graded across a spectrum, from passive range of motion (PROM) to active-assistive (AAROM)  and active range of motion (AROM), individualizing each patient’s needs to maximize motor gains.
It promotes targeted and individualized treatment
Every patient is different, with different treatment needs, and occupational therapists are constantly looking for that “just right” challenge for each and every one of their patients. With active-assistive robotic therapy, you can be picky about detailed task parameters, cues, and visual stimuli, and you’ll be able to create individualized performance feedback options.
Robotic systems also offer targeted interventions to the shoulder, elbow and forearm, or hand. During robotic therapy, patients experience a sense of increased independence in the early phases of therapeutic treatment, increasing patient initiation and encouraging early volitional movement.
In traditional interventions, especially in inpatient settings, UE motor training can be limited if you don’t have a second person to assist with the treatments. Active-assistive robotic therapies help to provide a sensory-rich environment and targeted individualized treatments—without the risk of therapist fatigue.
What should we consider when purchasing robotic devices?
With several rehabilitation robotics companies in the market, UE active-assistive robotic therapy devices are becoming increasingly affordable. Here are a few factors to consider when looking at these devices.
What’s the cost?
Consider what your facility wants to invest in technology. One of the major critiques of robot-assisted therapy has been the cost; however, one analysis concluded that there was very little difference in cost between using active-assistive robotic therapy, compared to traditional intensive therapy [6]. Many rehabilitation robots have a sticker price of six figures, with exoskeletons tending to be the most expensive. In an effort to make rehabilitation robots more accessible to patients and clinics, some device manufacturers, like Barrett Technology, are coming in around $60,000.
Is the user interface engaging?
One of the major strengths of these devices is they increase patient engagement. Make sure that the games the system offers are fun and motivating for your patents.
What area do I want to target?
Devices may target the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder complex, or a combination of these.
Does the device have the features you want?
Pay attention to the available range of motion (ROM) and anatomical movements the device features. Active-assistive robotic therapy devices may include some or all of these features:
Active exercise
Active robotic assistive exercise
Passive exercise
Gravity elimination
Haptic features (typically vibration or resistance)
Coaching feedback [7]
Also, ask if the device has features to combat tone/reflexive movement, and inquire about any additional cognitive features. Ask about setup time, and then ask yourself whether the time required is appropriate for your facility, given your setting and therapy time constraints.
What types of robotic rehabilitation devices are out there?
The Barrett Upper Extremity Robotic Trainer (BURT)
BURT is a rehabilitation robot for the shoulder complex and elbow that was designed based on the latest research on high-intensity repetitions and dosage.
This active-assistive robotic therapy tool is designed as a supplement to UE neuromuscular re-education, providing gravity-elimination and robotic active-assistance to the shoulder complex. BURT provides three anatomical planes of movement to the shoulder, and you can grade UE exercise across the motor learning spectrum, from PROM to AAROM and AROM.
BURT is highly adaptable, can be set up in less than five minutes, and can be easily moved to accommodate the patient. BURT includes a gaming system that motivates patients and is highly customizable; it supports therapist task-grading with features such as easy modification of cognitive stimuli, set and therapist-controlled initiation of robotic assistance, vibration, and visual feedback. BURT also aids in training normative functional movement patterns in the presence of reflexive synergies, by setting the precise isolation of a desired functional movement.
BURT isn’t just for treatment of stroke. The device provides UE ROM and repetitive motor training, which therapists can use to treat other diagnoses such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and Parkinson’s disease.
The InMotion ARM and Motorika ReoGo
The ARM and Motorika ReoGo are end-effector robots for the shoulder and elbow. The former is a well-studied clinical edition of the original MIT-Manus robot, which performs robotic assistance and resistance in two anatomical planes of movement. Additional hand and wrist attachments are available.
The Motorika ReoGo has a large distal point—one that resembles a joystick—upon which the patient’s hand rests. The device applies active or passive assistance to the shoulder complex. (Hand and wrist attachments are available.)
Tyromotion Diego
The Tyromotion Diego is a cable-driven bilateral device for adults and children. It has harness support at the wrist and forearm, which provides active-assisted shoulder flexion and extension.
Exoskeletons
Exoskeletons include the Armeo Power and Armeo Spring. Upper extremity exoskeletons are large mechanical devices that encompass the arm and hand and have multiple, precise attachment points between the anatomical joints and kinematic structure [9].
The Armeo Power provides robotic assistance for patients with more densely impaired motor functions, and it offers many advanced, research-grade features. The Armeo Spring provides gravity elimination for volitional movement, with no robotic assistance.
Portable assistive devices and orthoses
There are just a few robotic orthoses and portable devices on the market. The Hand of Hope and Tyromotion Amadeo are active-assistive robotic exoskeleton hands that attach to a workstation. The Hand Mentor Pro system is a distal semi-portable robotic device for the wrist and hand. The Myomo Myopro is a custom wearable myoelectric robotic orthosis for the elbow, wrist, and hand.
Rehabilitation trends are certainly changing.
Now that we know that cortical reorganization peaks in those first two weeks post-CVA, rehab interventions are adapting to increase intensity and dosage as quickly as possible. The movement toward earlier and more intensive task-repetitive training can put stress on therapists who are striving to balance patients’ needs with safety and other workplace demands.
Active-assistive robotic therapy can meet these needs by providing high-intensity treatment, without causing physical strain to therapists. These new technologies offer new opportunities for increasing patient engagement, improving patient outcomes, and providing a way to keep therapists healthy and injury-free in the process.

Stop Taking Percocet (Acetaminophen / Oxycodone) For Those In Gainesville
If your Interested in stopping Percocet?
While the time Percocet remains in the body is relatively brief (detectable for a couple of days after last usage in urine), Percocet withdrawal can last for days to weeks. For very long time users of Percocet, be prepared to stop taking Percocet with time. In fact, you shouldn’t simply stop Percocet cold turkey (unless you need to) since of how Percocet affects the brain. Find out more about Percocet reliance, addiction, and ways to stop taking Percocet below.  If you live near Gainesville then, ask us your questions about taking Percocet at the end. Can I Simply Stop Taking Percocet? Yes, you can simply stop taking Percocet … but ONLY IF you’ve taken Percocet for short-term management of a health problem or injury, In fact, you can generally simply stop taking Percocet at any time for acute conditions when the drug is not needed as long as you haven’t developed physical reliance on Percocet However if you have actually taken Percocet for persistent discomfort management, it might be more difficult to quit. Percocet usage typically leads to a dependence, and can even become a dependency in some people.

Still have concerns about tapering Percocet or stopping Percocet cold turkey? Please leave us your concerns here. We’ll do our best to respond to you personally and quickly. Help For Percocet Abuse (10mg oxycodone and 325 mg acetaminophen) Gainesville FL Prescription drug abuse is on the increase leaving numerous who struggle with persistent discomfort and the doctors who treat them uncertain exactly what to do. Narcotic discomfort medication, such as Percocet, has actually been the response for many who cope every day with relentless pain. Thanks to the adverse effects these opioid analgesics deal, such as unabashed joyfulness and emotional calm, prescription painkillers are rapidly turning into one of the most mistreated drugs in the United States. Percocet, likewise called “White Collar Heroin” is a regulated compound which contains a mix of oxycodone and acetaminophen. Frequently, other drugs are contributed to narcotics to increase analgesic homes in a process called drug synergy. In large amounts, individuals who abuse Percocet feel a comparable “high” as those who abuse heroin, which is why Percocet (10mg oxycodone and 325 mg acetaminophen) is so addicting. The oxycodone (likewise called “Oxy,” and “OxyContin”) in Percocet is a time-release medication which can make getting lost a difficulty for those planning to get high. A Percocet addict may simply chew or crush the tablet rather than swallowing it as recommended, as this permits a more quick absorption into the blood stream. Some addicts may snort Percocet to achieve an even more quick high. Still others might dilute the tablets and inject it directly into their blood stream, which increases the threats for blood-borne pathogens related to shared needles such as HIV/AIDS and liver disease.
Percocet Dependency in Gainesville
Anyone who takes Percocet for more than a few weeks dangers developing a physical dependency to the opiate drug. Anyone who abuses Percocet to obtain high for more than a number of weeks (whether or not the medication is legally recommended for pain) runs a high risk of dependency. And once you have a Percocet addiction, you have a serious problem. The Distinction in between Percocet Dependency and Percocet Addiction Percocet Reliance The chronic regular usage of Percocet, as is the case with the extended use of any other opiate, develops structural changes in the brain. Percocet binds to opiate receptors in the brain to produce analgesic and blissful results. If you use Percocet regularly (everyday) for a while, the brain reacts by growing more opiate receptors in the brain; and with greater numbers of opiate receptors, you require a higher quantity of Percocet to fill them. If opiate receptors in the brain go unfilled, you feel increased pain and depressed state of mind. When you have extra opiate receptors in the brain, natural levels of opiate chemicals in the brain can not adequately activate them all, and without taking Percocet to supplement natural levels of opiate chemicals, you begin to feel discomfort and a depressed state of mind. As soon as you have actually sprouted increased numbers of opiate receptors, you are physically depending on the medication, and if you do not take your medication frequently, you will begin to feel drug withdrawal. If you take Percocet daily for a few weeks, you will become physically reliant on the medication, whether you use the medication for the treatment of discomfort or to obtain high. Percocet Addiction Individuals who take Percocet for its analgesic homes just, and who never ever go beyond the recommended dosage amount or frequency, do not need to fret about addiction. However, after extended use, these individuals will develop physical dependence. Individuals who utilize Percocet to get high will likely establish a dependency to the medication, in addition to physical dependence. Attributes of a Percocet dependency consist of the following: Fixating on Percocet, and spending a great deal of time and energy thinking about, getting, and using the drug. Continuing to abuse Percocet even in the face of major repercussions from that usage. Lying about or concealing the quantity of Percocet that is used. People who are addicted to Percocet will face withdrawal signs and lasting drug yearnings after quitting. People who are only physically based on Percocet will feel symptoms of withdrawal, but not drug cravings. Drug yearnings can activate a relapse back to utilize and abuse, and so individuals who are facing drug yearnings often require dependency treatment to discover how to overcome the risk of relapse. Hey, i was the one who sent the “why do you think IxFJs cant be 5s” and to be honest I talked about ISFJs as well mostly to avoid sounding one of those “fuck you if you don’t think im an INFP 8w7 choleric slytherin” anons or something similar lol. I was mostly thinking about how a INFJ who uses Ni-Ti would at the very minimum resemble the 5 behaviour patterns.
The “only feels stuff after solving the problem” really is wrong, sorry about that. I remembered reading something about how 5s have kind of delayed emotional responses and must have used the terms people use to describe Te types and as you said 5s are hardly really problem solvers lol. I did that because I’m not used to like seriously “arguing” about typology in English. I do see myself as a INFJ 5w4 (granted, I think I have a very strong 4 as the heart type on my tritype.
I reached the conclusion that I’m a 5 rather than a 4-core because while I’m very emotional and have a strong “not like the other dudes” problem I feel like it doesn’t truly “define” my most deep fears, you know? While I always feel like an outsider and different from other people and I kind like feeling this my biggest fears have always been related to not being competent enough to solve any problems I come across, plus my disintegration/integration patterns are much more akin to the 5 ones:
I have a very big problem in “acting” in the real world and have been at times avoidant in problem situations. As you said, withdrawing to analyze (even if it doesn’t come naturally to me as it would to a Ti-dom lol) , the only times in my life that I felt like I had the ability to do so were when I was most confident, and when I’m stressed I isolate and feel I cannot rely on anyone but myself (an opposite from the 4>2 disintegration).
I also have a very big “hoarding” problem in an exaggerated SP sense of “I need more than enough to make sure nothing important will be lacking to me”, I’m very much frugal because I’m afraid of not being to support myself and I hate (and fear) depending on others more than anything else. I was actually very confused about if was an INFJ for quite some time because I feel like because of my 5 type I don’t really fit into the “empathetic, eternally patient and socially gracious therapist”
stereotype since I’m very much judgmental and socially isolated. I actually I thought I was an ISTP (even though my se is completely non-existent) for the longest time because I knew nothing about FE outside of stereotypes. Many of the asks about Fe you received on the last few days came from me, sorry lol. I’m sorry if I didn’t explain it properly, this was the first time I took the time to actually describe my reasoning on my type in detail (in a foreign language no less haha)
----------------
Hi anon,
I really cannot tell your type from this for either enneagram or MBTI - I know a language barrier can be difficult but almost everything here is about the types you’re talking about and integration disintegration and comparing yourself to different types and there’s very little here that’s actually about you, as a person, without all the surrounding language of MBTI. INFJ could be possible and 5 could be as well, but honestly you could be like half the types from what’s here.
The things that I could strip away from the MBTI language are:
- very emotional; examples or more detail would be useful. Do you feel deeply but not express it much? Are you outwardly very emotional and demonstrative? are you very sensitive to criticism? and so on.
- strong ‘not like other dudes’ tendency, for which I’d appreciate some elaboration; this does happen with 4 a lot but it’s also age specific (lots of teens/young adults go through a phase) or context (are you in an academic/professional field with a lot of macho behavior? Are you trying to express something unique in yourself you haven’t been allowed to in the past?)
-for the fear of incompetence, if you keep going, is that where it stops? Is the fear “I won’t be able to solve a problem and I will be incapable and useless?” or does it keep going to “I won’t be able to solve a problem and people relying on me will be hurt”?
-avoidant in problem situations - do you withdraw to analyze and learn more about that problem, or do you avoid thinking about it all together?
-5 withdrawal is a sign of low confidence - when you’re feeling more confident, you should be withdrawing to analyze less, not more. What do you do when you aren’t feeling confident? How do you behave then?
-feeling stressed and like you can only rely on yourself is something I associate a lot more with disintegration into 4 from 1. 5 disintegration into 7 tends to become fragmented and unfocused more so than feeling like you’re the only one you can trust.
-You mention a fear of being dependent on others more than anything else. Is it that, or is it incompetence? Are these two things connected in your mind?
- while it’s true high Fe users aren’t the patient and empathetic therapist, they also do tend to be fairly comfortable with some degree of interdependence.
This probably didn’t help you find out your type, and again, this doesn’t rule out INFJ and/or 5, but based on what you’ve said neither of those sounds definitive. Hopefully these questions will help in guiding some more introspection though, and in considering other possibilities.

Hi Em, I’m the Fi vs Fe anon. Please disregard my previous question as I was high when I sent it in and doing some pondering, coming up with random ideas. My real dilemma lately has been in identifying Fi vs Fe in myself, because I can’t tell. I care about other people’s’ emotions, about not treading on them or hurting their feelings somehow. I think it comes from a standpoint of not wanting to have my feelings treaded upon by others so I apply that to other people-my approach to things (1/3)
is a very “this is how I’d want to be treated” approach. I’ve heard that’s Fi, but what I’m unsure about is just how much I care about others feelings, even strangers, as I’ve been led to believe Fi only cares about the feelings of a select few. I only care about the opinions of a select few, but I also want to be generally regarded as the kind of person I believe I am-I don’t want to be seen as something I’m not, whether that’s a “tryhard” image, or even being seen as a type of person I (2/3)
generally dislike, whatever that is. I don’t care what people think but I don’t want to be seen as what I hate.  I also want to become a therapist, if this info helps, because I want to help people with the exact issues I’ve dealt with, because I have an understanding of their experience. I consider myself in tune with other people’s emotions, like I feel I’m good at reading people, but I also tend to assume they’ll feel how IVE felt in a given situation, which is why I care so much. (3/4 sorry)
I tend to empathize not through distinctly ‘feeling’ the emotions of other people (although I do consider myself sensitive to the feelings of others, as I’ve said before, and if the general mood of a room is bad I find myself being zapped and put in a bad mood too) but rather I imagine myself in their situation. In examining what I do I’ve realized that thats how I operate, more through sympathy. Is any of what I said sticking out to you as Fi or Fe? Thank you in advance!
-------------------------------------
Hi anon,
So I have a couple caveats first:
All of what I’m going to say here is specifically assuming that you’re a feeler. I think Fi vs. Fe is arguably the hardest set of functions to tell apart and I think once you’re talking about low feeling it gets even harder and it’s basically impossible to talk about the lower feeling function without it being filtered up through the higher thinking function. So if you think you’re a thinker, this doesn’t apply.
Second, as mentioned Fi vs. Fe is often really hard and so if you feel confident you’re a feeler, I recommend typing your perceiving function if you have any sense of that. Basically, I think that in most cases, if you’re pondering Fi vs. Fe for your own typing, you should try approaching the problem a different way. If you think you’re a feeler, try typing your top perceiving function. If you think you’re a thinker, try typing your thinking function. If you’re not sure, go back to your perceiving function and then think about your thinking/feeling functions.
With that in mind: I think if you are a feeler you would be a high Fi user, and I’m going to go through a few of your statements.
I think most reasonably healthy people, on the whole, don’t want to intentionally hurt the feelings of others. They may want to hurt the feelings of specific people and sometimes I think that’s justified (offending the Westboro Baptist Church is in my opinion objectively good) and sometimes it’s not great but it’s human (making an ex jealous) but their default feeling towards others is “I’d rather not do harm.” A person who regularly goes into situations with the intent to hurt others has something that is, in my opinion, pretty deeply wrong with them; a person who just doesn’t care also seems like they could use some serious help. I don’t want to speculate because I am by no means a biologist or anthropologist but people are societal animals, and we want to make that society work out and part of that is respecting the feelings of others. So regardless of type, I would think and definitely hope that people generally don’t want to cause emotional harm to others.
This also covers another broad thing which is societal rules. A good example of these is manners: it is not in any way harmful to others for me to lick my plate clean, and in the privacy of my own kitchen I do it all the time, but I don’t do it at a restaurant because we as a society have decided it’s rude. This is also something basically any healthy person does. Manners may differ to an extent by culture, so the important thing isn’t what the manners are but rather any fairly normal person, regardless of type, will follow basic societal rules.
With that in mind, it’s not that Fi doesn’t care about the feelings of strangers so much as the opinions. An example I’ve used in the past here is going to the movies alone. Some people get really hung up about going to the movies alone, and a lot of that comes down to whether a bunch of strangers will think they’re weird or lonely. Like, if a stranger thinks I’m weird or lonely, that’s their projection on me, not my experience (well, loneliness anyway; I might be weird and I’m fine with that). A healthy Fi user doesn’t want to be seen as harmful or rude, but they’re not that invested in whether strangers like their outfit, for example. But they might be invested in whether specific people they respect like their outfit. Whereas Fe users tend to be more invested in the opinions of others regardless. And of course all of this has limits because people are complicated; Fi users might feel weird on occasion if a stranger seems to be judging them very intently, and Fe users might not care about specific things, and the shame triad in enneagram can add a second layer to all of this, but if someone is not invested in the opinions of strangers as a rule, and they are also a feeler, that is often a sign that they are a high Fi user.
The other sign of high Fi user is that you’re more concerned that people’s perception of you is authentic. No one wants to be blamed for something they didn’t do, but authenticity for its own sake is also often high Fi.
Now, reading people. Here’s the thing: I still firmly believe no one can truly read people with a hundred percent accuracy, and with that in mind some of the times I have been most annoyed or even angry with people is specifically when they thought they were doing a great job of reading me and they weren’t. So I’m kind of anti-reading people on the whole because, as Dr. House once said, when you assume you become an ass to me. The good thing is that you’re aware that you may be projecting, and hopefully will focus on actually communicating directly instead. It’s okay if you find people more relatable or you care more because of those projections, but when it comes to actually helping them, talk to them. Either way at this point I think the ability to read people has been so overhyped and is in my opinion so much more useless than people think I don’t think there’s much to be understood about type. Most reading people strikes me as a lot of projection, regardless of whether it’s an Fi or Fe user doing it.
With that said about reading people - it’s yet another truth that to some extent emotions are contagious no matter what, and if the mood in a room seems bad the vast majority of healthy people will pick up on that. So that’s another thing that I don’t think says much about type so much as the fact that the person has at least the normal amount of empathy. Which is yet another reason why Fi vs. Fe are so hard; a lot of feeling stuff is just human and not any specific type. That said, the fact that you specifically seem to be putting yourself in the position of others in almost all of your efforts to relate also points to high Fi more than high Fe; not that Fe users can’t project but I think they see what they do in a different way (as in, they don’t see it as “this is what I would do” but rather “this is what people do” even if it’s not).
