I'm crying laughing, the DVDs are even worse than I remember... Season 1's menus are silent with a single static jpg of the same key character art they use for everything else, and the episodes on the Season 2 discs don't even match what's listed on the box! Absolutely stunning lack of shits given. Truly unparalleled. But I really shouldn't be surprised given... well... everything about how this series has been treated since the very beginning.
Time for a quick ~✨PHANDOM HISTORY LESSON✨~ to give newer/less hyperfixated folks more context for why the graphic novel being as great as it is is such a HUGE deal:
Danny Phantom was one of Nickelodeon's MAIN cartoons, in its time. It was a central pillar. One of the top three or four of their lineup, which is saying something when the competition includes the cultural juggernaut that is Spongebob.
Despite this, and despite its superhero theming making it perfectly marketable, it got basically ZERO official merch.
What little we did get was often ugly and very, very cheap. The dedication at the start of the graphic novel that jokes about collecting the Burger King toys? That's because it was some of the most notable merch the franchise EVER had. (I sadly do not have any of it. There was no BK in my hometown. Here's a pic from the internet, though, to give you an idea.)
Tumblr media
If you think I'm exaggerating about that being the most significant physical merch to come out of the series, consider that the first video game had an entire menu option specifically for the Burger King promotional tie-in:
Tumblr media
That video game, by the way, was one of only two ever based on the show. The first was an adaptation of "The Ultimate Enemy" in the style of a short sidescrolling beat-em-up, and the second was themed around "Urban Jungle" and (as far as I can tell--I've only played the first couple levels) was an arcade-style scrolling shooter. Both were for the Gameboy Advance, and both are...... fine, as far as cash-grabby video game tie-ins to kids' shows go. This was pretty normal for the time, so I suppose we did okay in that department, actually. They're not GOOD, but they're playable and have at least a bit of effort put into them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But besides those two video games (plus a handful of simple, long-defunct Flash games on nick.com)? In the decade and a half since the show ended?
Nothing.
No books, no games, no comics, no web shorts--unless you count mega-crossovers with every other Nicktoon (a la Nicktoons Unite), or soulless promotional material like "Fairly Odd Phantom" (which, trust me, despite being the first new DP animation in over 10 years was not even worth the effort of watching).
...I think there was a limited edition FunkoPop once?
So yeah.
A Glitch in Time is not just the first cool, well-made thing we've seen from the franchise in a while. It's the first THING we've seen since the show. PERIOD. And arguably the first worthwhile supplementary material to EVER come out of the show, depending on how you feel about those GBA games and the Nicktoons crossovers.
This franchise is widely beloved even now, almost 20 years after it first aired, and it feels like that fact is now, finally, FINALLY getting some official recognition.
PLEASE read A Glitch in Time. Tell other people about it. The series--no, the fans--deserve this (and more of this, if the folks in charge see enough of a response and decide to grace us with any followup). It's LONG overdue, but better late than never.

Saw Roier and Cellbit's communities freaking out today and I was worried I (somehow) missed a major stream, then I realize they're just reenacting the Guapoduo breakup for the funnies because Rubius' community called Cellbit's community "Gatinho" (a nickname Roier's community had exclusively used for them until now)
I've been watching it all unfold live and this is the only kind of fandom drama I've ever been invested in. Here are some highlights:

Bonus: (I'm afraid, because Roier would 100% do this)

I am physically unable to wait till I finish this, so let me throw another WIP Shoutout to @a-aristippus @madnessandlovesstuff @tales-of-ryloth @snowleopard-from-venus and many others who added tags and words in their reblogs for me to smile at ♥ (pspspspspps I am also absolutely looking to join an Obikin/StarWars discord, fuck knows I need friends to deal with these star-crossed tragic soulmates) Awkward Motion by Hellhills.mp3 (read as a person talking to themselves) So tell me why I feel this way Someday it has to go away We didn't really like this place We made a promise we would stay Been so unbothered by this hate Now you found comfort in my pain And you keep staring at your grave And you keep wishing that was me
Don't give me options, you got none yourself Don't make me worthless, you got no one else
Don't let go, it's not your fault You're all alone and no one's gonna change that Don't let go, it's not my fault I'm on my own, I would do anything to change that I forgot your face, yet I still remember to scream your name It all got erased, nothing but a waste of time, a waste of space

Since the arguments about Wolfwoods age is beginning to start up again. Info taken from this post by @tantei-armin . As well, here's another post with screen caps from the manga. Both Livio and Wolfwood are legally adults.
Also, if you don't like something? Block the tag, block the people, don't try to wage a puritanical war. Much love and peace ✌️
Edit (same day as posted): Some people are wondering in the tags where this is coming from, so I thought I'd clear it up for those who are confused.
This rumour comes from the manga panels which talk about how from the serum and surgeries Wolfwood's metabolism is faster, and so he doesn't look the age he should look. Since Wolfwood was never explicitly given a set number for his age, and if you're not paying attention to the context, some people have assumed this meant that he's actually still a minor at the time trigun is set, while in reality he's been confirmed to be in his early/mid twenties, and so would look like he's in his late twenties/early thirties (and it would make very little sense for Stampede to have changed the ages for the characters). It's alright to be a bit confused, since it's not ever explicitly stated; however, this rumour that he's a minor has then been used as slander for ship wars. I've only seen one recent post calling Vashwood an underage ship, but it looks like it was a bit of an issue in the old fandom, and I (and I think most people) would prefer the newer fandom to avoid that if possible. Again, just going to reiterate using the blocking function liberally for things you don't like!
Edit (Apr 15): as another person so kindly explained on a reblog it wasn't actually a problem in the old fandom; it's always been a small minority of people, often those who are against queer relationships in the first place, who've used it as a way to slander others.

Alastor aka The Guy Who Doesn't Fuck being the most shipped character in the entire Hellaverse, either in fun "what if" ships or canon dynamics, is still the funniest thing ever, like does he ever think "life is so tough when everyone wants to have wild and passionate sex with you while you're just standing there"

Imo Jason is “irredeemable” by default because I don’t see what he needs redemption from.
#I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but joining this fandom made me fucking hate the word ‘redemption’#no person I’ve seen who is in love with the concept knows the who what where when why or how it should work in a story#apparently it isn’t just themes and tropes anymore people don’t understand the proper use of the word ‘villain’#kelseethe#also hilarious: Jason should recieve sensitivity training HR style from Bruce ‘I’m the government and children are my cronies’ wayne#if Jasons headstrong/‘answers to no one’ attitude towards vigilantism is what makes people think he's villainous#I hate to be a broken record but the baddie you’re describing is Bruce#nobody thinks he’s a villain for only trusting in his own methods/self and repeatedly isolating himself#and on top of that gaslighting and hurting people around him in attempts to do what HE **thinks** is the right thing#you people always thought *him* heroic not problematic for all these traits#the only difference is Jason isn’t psychologically abusive & controlling#yet he’s still the bad guy just cause he liberally kills folks in the crime business.#l'd argue goth ham war is the b*tman story to remind you of everything that makes Bruce authentically himself#Idk how to tell you that Bruce mentally compromising/crippling his son in a twisted attempt to ‘save him from himself’#is perfectly in line with slitting the same son’s throat because he couldn’t stand to see him avenge his own killer#and yk what a redemption arc could be interesting for someone like Bruce#because he rarely questions or doubts his choices esp wrt Jason. no matter how morally dubious they may be#I think it would be quite fun to witness his extremely restricted worldview be challenged/shattered he deserves that humbling experience

I loved this season of Fallout so much. I think they touched on every part of what's good about fallout: the suspense, the horror, the comedy, the morality, the mystery. Ugh I just think it was so so well done.
I remember watching the first few episodes and thinking "shit I hope they dip into the Lovecraftian horror that the games tend to get into" and I know it wasn't quite all the way there, but I felt like the scene with the worshiping surface dwellers in Vault 4 came pretty close and was really cool. It was a really interesting buildup from worship service to slightly disturbing/unsettling elements involving blood sacrifice. I was reminded a bit of the Children of Atom from Far Harbour and their worship of the Mother of the Fog. FUCK
idk man I just feel like this was a tv adaptation of a series made by people who love the series and that really makes my chest warm.

the best thing about being very attached to classic children's shows is that most of my friends have engaged with them (they watched them as kids). the worst thing about being very attached to classic children's is that none of my friends are currently engaging with them (they watched them as kids)

There is a fic in the hobbit fandom where Bilbo has a Gift and he can take someone's injury from them. Aka. They scrape open their shin, he holds onto them a sec, and they're completely fine, but his leg is now bleeding. Direct transfer. This came about because that fandom really enjoys killing Bilbo in myriad horrifying ways.
So I was thinking about ST fandom, and how much we love to see Steve be insecure and self sacrificing. And If I'd watched the show maybe I'd have the details to do it right and talk about him taking head trauma from Lucas in 2, and undoing the damage to Robin before she wakes up and knows about it, but I don't know much more than that.
So just consider Dustin begging Steve to help Eddie after the bats. Dustin, who knows that Steve doesn't heal the injury, he takes it on. Dustin who would never ever ask for this if he was thinking straight. But Dustin is hysterical, and Steve is desperate, so he tries, and he succeeds. Steve sort of falls sideways after its done. For a second, Dustin is too focused on the color coming back to Eddie's face, and the way his eyes are focusing again to notice.

Anyway… gender non-conforming teenage Billy discovering metal for the first time, seeing men in makeup with long hair and feminine clothes. Metal being a “safe(r)” way for him to express himself than outright saying he doesn’t want “to be a man” 100% of the time. He can deal with Neil thinking he’s a degenerate brat, but he won’t survive if Neil knows for a fact that he’s queer. So, he dresses himself up like his heroes and plays the part well. Girls flock to him because he breaks the mold and Billy likes girls in the way that he wants to be like them. Pretty. Dolled up with perfume. He envies video vixens and fantasizes about bassists. Metal allows him to walk the line between the safe and expected (masculinity) and unexpected and dangerous (femininity) he would love to embrace more.

"Team Black is better than Team Green because Luke's funeral is private while Team Green hold a public funeral for propaganda purposes!"
Kingslanding is the biggest city in Westeros and is densely populated, and while Dragonstone is also densely populated, it's infinitely smaller. If Team Black were in Kingslanding instead of Dragonstone, they would never have been able to have a private funeral because the small folk would want to attend too. Furthermore, as an island, Dragonstone is isolated as few would travel for a funeral in a time of war. Kingslanding even during war, has Westeros' highest population density. Aemma and Baelon also had a public funeral in season 1.
In the books (hopefully in the show too), Haelena is remembered as being beloved by the small folk. Jaehaerys, as her son, was loved by and is mourned by them too. Even if they wanted to - and likely they did want to - have a private funeral, they wouldn't have been able to due to public reaction and outcry.

i am once again disappointed but not surprised at the COD fandom only caring about “sensitivity” when it’s convenient for them
#telling people it’s morally wrong to simp for makarov#whilst simping for graves or valeria#or ANY character in this damn series#just shows that you only give a shit about ‘sensitivity’ when it doesn’t inconvenience you#‘but he’s bad :(’ my brother in christ. let’s talk about western militaries#price nikolai and gaz literally kidnapped and tortured an innocent woman and child#the UK and US militaries have DEVASTATED vulnerable countries#y’all wanna talk about sensitivity?? then acknowledge how even the ‘good’ characters like the 141 are shitty!#none of these characters are good people!#i cannot stress this enough. eliminating characters because they’re ‘problematic’ eliminates the entire cast. every single one of them.#MAYBE farah would be safe?? i’m not knowledgeable enough to say for certain. but everyone else— 141. los vaqueros. laswell. alex. nikolai. +#valeria. graves. every last warzone operator. EVERY single character is ‘off-limits’ with that logic.#COD fandom is also horribly racist despite pretending it’s not. notice how people only talk about this when it’s white folks being impacted#no one gave a shit when a middle eastern woman and child were kidnapped and tortured. or when fans were romanticizing cartel violence.#or how the SAS CIA and Delta Force have histories of terrorizing vulnerable people; especially in the middle east and asia#i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again before anyone accuses me of smth false:#sensitivity is important. it can co-exist with letting people enjoy problematic things. the source itself is problematic —#ergo. everything that comes from it (even the ‘good’ things) is as well.#you can’t cherry pick which characters people are allowed to be critical of. you can have your faves and have the ones you dislike#but don’t act like you’re doing something noble when your sensitivity is biased.#sylph.talks
