a cover of "Panic Station" by Muse, ideally suited for chases through futuristic train platforms full of loop-de-loops and hostile robots!
usually I have a really hard time doing arrangements of existing songs, but I felt unusually motivated to tackle this one and managed to see it thought to completion! (took me a while because I kept spending too much time jamming out to what I already had done instead of working on the next parts lol)
♫ made with OpenMPT!

and here's the full-size cover art, while i'm at it!
(yes it sounds a lot like VGM because i want to make mostly VGM so it is harder to present it to broader audiences but i like it so much, i like the complement between different mediums of art on different senses, how the experience of music can complement other experiences it's "packaged" with, and aaaa)
I remade a song I first did in DefleMask about a month ago. DefleMask is cool, but kinda flawed. I’d be more likely to keep using it if it would import/export midi. On the other hand I go way back with Modplug Tracker, OpenMPT is really comfortable to use :)
my prompt for starting this was essentially "i'm in a bad mood and i want to make music that'll fix that". apparently what that translated to was whatever genre "music that would make 9-year-old me think they could do a backflip off the swings at the park" is, but like... it DID cheer me up? so, mission accomplished? i hope you enjoy it too!
Here's the second Teaser… actually it's the first track for this commission, still created in OpenMPT before I switched to Renoise and then to Ableton Live 11.
Got into music trackers recently, realized I could use them to do ASCII art or just write stuff. Long story short, here's the contents of a recent module of mine!
Which, when using a viola sound sample, results in the following:
So yeah! I thought this was a fun little project. I would love to share the tracker module with the world, but it seems I can't do that on Tumblr. Alas...
