It was a little over a month into the New Year. Friday, February 14th to be exact. Valentine’s Day. Jaxon was supposed to take his girlfriend Gabrielle out on a date to celebrate love’s holiday, but after yet another toxic fight, Jaxon was home, in his own bedroom, pacing around with bone-white knuckles, while Gabrielle laid in her bed, texting her best friend Alexis. #fuckvalesntinesday, Gabrielle wanted to go out to a bar or club with her fake ID and talk, dance, or even fuck someone else. She wasn’t going to go without her partner in crime, though. A broken heart needs backup, and Alexis was Gabrielle's ride or die.

Meanwhile, Jaxon’s solution to heartbreak wasn’t any different. It would seem, although he and Gabrielle didn’t make great lovers, they did have a lot in common. Because, while Gabrielle was sending an influx of texts to Alexis, Jaxon sent a few himself. He figured they could meet up, hang out, and she could reap the benefits of everything Gabrielle forfeited. At times, their relationship may have come across as sleazy and double-crossing, but Jaxon did have feelings for Alexis – more than he had for Gabrielle. There were nights where they would stay up until 6am texting and snapchatting. There was something real there: casual sex and friendship that somehow overlapped and interweaved into more. Alexis was the one girl whose spell on him actually worked. He was mesmerized and drawn by her - like a sailor to a siren. She could make him do things he never thought possible. His voice held more laughter, his face felt more smiles, and his body had never tingled and stirred until she touched it. Still, he was with Gabrielle, and although his late-father never approved of that relationship, he couldn’t just break it off. They’ve been together for too long. Breaking up would feel like losing a limb.

Caught between Gabrielle and Jaxon, Alexis would have to make a choice on who to entertain, unless she could devise a way to make them both happy. She could go to the club with her best friend or on a date with her best friend’s boyfriend…
