Prompt 31 - Opposites
@wolfstarmicrofic January 31, word count 1030
The day was warm and sunny, unlike the night, which had been freezing cold. Even their warming charms hadn’t held up to the frigid temperatures. So Remus had snuck down to the Common room and stolen some of the sofa cushions to transfigure into blankets. It wasn’t exactly against the rules, but it was a bit naughty taking communal property.
He’d made himself and Sirius a nice little nest to snuggle up in.
By the time he’d put the blankets where he wanted them, Sirius had opened a full bottle of firewhisky.
“To help ward off the cold, Remus.” Sirius had whispered as he drank another mouthful.
Remus had shaken his head but taken a hearty swig anyway.
But now it was morning, and Remus’s stomach was gurgling angrily at him over being empty. He needed to go downstairs and eat something. There was bacon in his very near future. He could almost taste it.
Peter rushed past him, desperate to get to the loo. Almost tripping over Remus’s feet as he did.
“Oi, Wormtail, watch it.” He yelled at the bathroom door.
Sirius took his hand, and they wandered down the spiral staircase together. The Common room was busy with students from each year waiting for their friends to come down so they could go to breakfast together.
Sirius bared his teeth and emitted a deep growl at a group of first-years, who had been staring open-mouthed at their linked hands. Remus quickly snatched his hand out of Sirius’s. He looked over at him apologetically, hating himself for putting the hurt that now shone from Sirius’s eyes there.
That was one difference between him and Sirius. He always tried to be docile, and Sirius didn’t care. He was wild.
Remus had often wondered if he would have been different if he hadn’t been bitten by Fenrir all those years ago. Would he be more brave than he was now? Or would he be just as cowardly?
Sirius had been eyeing him intently as they waited for the moving staircases to move again. He grabbed Remus’s hand and dragged him away into the nearest corridor.
“Sirius, what are you doing?” Remus protested, attempting to pull his hand free of Sirius.
Sirius pulled a tapestry aside, revealing a small alcove just big enough for them both to squeeze into. Sirius pushed him into it and followed after letting the tapestry fall back down, covering them from view.
Sirius reached his hand up, cupping Remus’s face. Remus relaxed into the soft touch of Sirius’s smooth fingers as they brushed the rough little hairs on his cheeks.
“Why did you pull your hand away in the common room?” Sirius asked quietly. Remus bristled. He didn’t like being cornered, especially when he was hungry.
“I doubt you’d understand.” He grunted, turning his head out of Sirius’s palm.
Being a werewolf meant he’d had to hide a lot about himself, and showing people something real about himself seemed almost impossible. Sirius had never been afraid of showing the different sides of himself.
“Have a little faith in me, sweetheart. You never know. I might get it. I’ve been told I’m quite intelligent.” Remus rolled his eyes and scoffed. “Why are you making this so complicated?” Sirius asked, running his fingers through his hair in exasperation. “I love you, and you love me. It’s simple.” Remus shook his head.
“Our friends might understand, but the rest of the school won’t.”
Sirius brought his hands back up and cupped Remus's face between them. His expression softened.
“Moony, my love. Where there is good, like our friends, there will always be bad, such as the bigots that refuse to understand that we are just two people in love. I can promise you now that I will always be there for you. We’ll take them all on together.”
Remus would never admit this to him, but he got a little bit turned on when Sirius played the heroic knight.
Remus took a steadying breath and grabbed Sirius’s hand. He could do this.
They walked hand in hand down to breakfast. Remus kept his eyes on Sirius, ignoring everyone else.
The others were just finishing up their breakfasts when they arrived.
“Where have you two been? James asked as he slurped the last of his cup of tea.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Sirius wiggled his eyebrows. James groaned.
“Right, we’re all off now. See you in a bit, yeah?” He said as the others all disappeared out of the great hall.
Sirius shuffled closer to Remus and whispered in his ear. His breath tickled the downy hairs on Remus’s neck.
“I have a simple question for you, Remus,” He smirked gleefully. “That requires a simple answer. Do you or do you not want to go upstairs while everyone else is in Hogsmeade and have your wicked way with me?” He wanted to be strong. He really did. Their friends were waiting for them, and they were already running late.
But he was a weak- weak man when it came to Sirius Black. So he nodded.
“Okay.” He said and turned on his heel and headed back up to Gryffindor tower, Sirius catching him up and urging him to go quicker.
“Sirius, promise me you’ve locked the door.” Sirius looked him in the eye and tried to keep the laughter from escaping his mouth. “You’re the Devil, you know!” He moaned into Sirius’s chest.
“And you’re an angel,” Sirius murmured, peppering Remus’s face with kisses. Remus melted into Sirius’s ministrations, humming contentedly.
Before he had Sirius, he had realised that his world had been dull and monotone, and now it was full of colour.
Sirius grinned into Remus’s mouth as his left hand drifted low, and his right pulled the bed curtain shut around them.
After they were finished, Remus felt so loved and relaxed. He was a puddle of ecstasy. He snuggled into Sirius’s arms and let his thoughts turn to their relationship as he drifted off to sleep.
He and Sirius were so different from each other in so many ways that he didn’t know how they worked. But then again, they always say opposites attract.

Its interesting how similar Nam-soon and Shi-oh are. The more we find out about his past its like the dark version of Nam-soon's childhood. Children lost to their families, raised in a foreign country under another name, participating in fights as children, etc. And it left both of them with the same ideas (change the world, find love) but using different methods.
Oh my god, this is such an interesting take and I agree anon! It clearly goes to show that the atmosphere that people grow up in, the trauma they face etc, clearly affects the person they grow to be.
In Si-Ohs case he was literally hardened by the mafia, he doesn't know anything else. Kindness is something he never had, so he lives the way he knows how. He wants to break free from the hold they have on him sure, but the only way he sees is gaining more power over them. Which is also probably why he finds himself attached to Nam Soon. Since she doesnt carry that much darkness, and her inherent nature seems kind.
Nam Soon on the other hand, might have lost her parents but she had another set of parents who treated her with love. Weirdly though she is supposed to be empathic, I dont see that in her interactions with Si-Oh mostly. Those seem a little one dimensional. Like yes this is the guy who is causing problems in your family which is not cool, but even when he is opening up to her there doesn't seem to be a lot of understanding?? If you get what I mean?
Sorry I went off on a tangent xD
