Adding to the Loki 2 reactions (with spoilers), slightly critical:

*I still like the aesthetic, the set design is great

*trying to figure out if Loki does not quite feel like Loki, because he actually is out of character or because he's in a completely different environment. I mean, he basically went from period piece-like drama and fantasy to SciFi

Plus he actually gets to built connections with other people here (outside of his family), because the show makes room for it, so that's kinda new. And has to be acted out somehow.

*Regarding those connections, I still feel Loki is a bit too emotional and touchy. Might be on purpose to make him more relatable.

(The "she'll be fine" comment after the car crash though felt Loki-ish)

He is more human in the TVA, which is connected to him not having access to his powers there.

I don't have much hope, but it would be neat to see a shift in his and Mobius' interactions once he gets to use his powers more again.

*On Mobius. Intriguing character, still don't completely buy into the buddy vibe. Mobius does care about Loki in a way and there might have been time to built somewhat of a friendship (I don't know, how much time actually passed in season 1).

But imo Mobius still treats Loki a bit like an asset. Their interactions in 2x1 are more about managing. Mobius maneuvers Loki around to keep him out of an unclear situation and in order to get information. He also needs Loki. As an Loki expert Mobius is fully aware how capable and valuable for a fight Loki is. Loki also knows more about what's happening to the time line, so Mobius has to keep him stable and work with him.

I still don't feel he takes him completely seriously. It all seems a bit patronizing.

Otoh Mobius takes a great risk to keep Loki. Might make sense given the overall situation, but is a bit inconsistent.

They should not have forced the buddy comedy imo. I would have enjoyed enemies reluctantly working together way more.

But Loki needs a friend so I take what I can get I guess. And at least it's Owen Wilson.

(I still would love to see Mobius nearly shitting himself over a display of Loki's true power. He is way to nonchalant, which comes with his position and experience of course, but well...)

*Yeah yeah, we all love OB, that's a given

*does time travel in the MCU work like this? Idc, it was funny. The simultaneous conversation with past and present OB was a nice touch, funny and well done.

*was the time slip a one ep kinda deal? Trailer indicates it wasn't. We'll see.

*Hunter B15 being the moral compass, important.

*That TVA council seemed a bit all over the place. What's the course of action apart from finding Sylvie? But yay, Liz Carr.

*So Sylvie thinks Loki's dead-dead? Makes sense, that she would try to built an actual life after everything. The post credit scene was a bit anvil on the head, but I get it in regards to Sylvie's journey.

Btw my guess is Loki will make a sacrifice in the end, but that will probably be leaving Sylvie and Mobius behind so they can have an actual life.

And Loki will be alone again.

It would fit. It would be dramatic enough, but Disney would still keep the character alive just in case. Loki's a cash cow after all.

this not even a request is just a silly little thing that came to me when i saw a funny screenshot. riddler and joker becoming buddies in arkham and then ed meets another patient/inmate and falls in love. it goes like this in my head:

like him and his crush talking through the walls and the joker listening in and adding his own commentary? peak comedy, idc. i like my batman villains UNSERIOUS.

I really hope I’m not coming across like a bitch here because this is so totally unserious and you wouldn’t know this and you’re just sharing an innocent headcanon!! But my hyperfixation on the riddler ended about a year ago or so? And to be honest, I have a lot of very mixed feelings about that era of my time on the internet. So entrenching myself in that media again just isn’t fun.

This is with no hate at all, btw!! Just wanted to say that while I appreciate you coming into my inbox, I know that there are other folks on here who would appreciate this so much more. 🩷

Allegiant (2016) notes

Time for the epic* conclusion**, cinephiles, and what a ride it's been. We began with the totally fine and otherwise unremarkable Divergent (2014) before hitting the road like a ramp for Insurgent (2015). We're on an uphill trajectory, the stakes have never been more lukewarm, I just noticed Beatrice's tattoo is supposed to be birds, let's waste zero time and finish*** this.

>there's a factoid about this movie we cannot ignore. In going with the unhealthy body standard set by the Harry Potter movies, this final act, like Hunger Games and Twilight before it, was poised to be split in twain, ideally finished with the all new title Ascendant. However, a middling box office reception (because it couldn't have been critical reception), poor cast retention, and YA cinema fatigue (seems to be the only movie fatigue that actually happened) led to the hilarious conclusion of this conclusion being decisively inconclusive for no reason. Or I assume it's inconclusive. Maybe they pivoted the design at the 11th hour, maybe they didn't.

>I cannot deny this situation the comedy. I don't even remember this movie coming out, and until five minutes ago I thought it was a 2017 joint. Unfortunately my external critical eye stopped working around 2017, I'm a Divergenthead (Divergite? Divergoid?) due to the funny, and I will not look down on this movie unless I think I have to. .......................(that's me inhaling) okay, I liked that one less than the previous two. Going off the movie's wikipedia page, I have that feeling in common with the cast. Not a new take but splitting this thing in twain was a demonstrably bad idea. Instead just worked to prove the lack of direction for this Epic Final Installment. I can find enjoyment in watching a stick float down a river, so I'm not a good person to ask wrt pertinent YA criticism, but I'm glad I got Miles Teller. Real MVP of this series.

NEXT UP... more YA. I'm in a mood.

I'm a bubbly and social person outwardly however I am a major overthinker which is annoying and impairs my social life a bit. Omg the anon that said that the only Wuko fics are smut 🤦🏻‍♀️ When they said Wu and Mako were a “buddy comedy” it just tells me they watched the ‘what does this LOK ship say about you’ video and got triggered af that people ship them. They just assumed everyone here were straight fetishist or something. I don’t mind when people don’t like Wuko or some of its fans. Some ships are not for everyone or certain people. Despising the ship is fine too, I have in the past/present. But it’s so upsetting to have little to no content for the ship rn and then seeing a hate post. Idc what the original blogger says, it was a hate ask. It wasn’t someone who was genuinely wanting to see change or look for wholesome fics. It was someone who didn’t like Wuko in the first place and didn’t care to look into it. If they did they’d see the majority of writings being G-T fics. Like, hello! Have they not read any fics? Anyways I heard you were going on a bit of hiatus because of things like this in the fandom so I’m sorry this is happening rn.

Basically, I previously answered that I am fairly sure they’re talking (unfairly) about the fic complicated which does have a bathroom stall scene. being generous I think what they want is more buddy comedy and are not getting that. But wtf why would people write wuko based on a jokey YouTube video.

but yeah why make broad statements about the wuko fandom from one fic. There’s hardly any content at the moment and it’s a small fandom. It had an uptick in interest last year but that has faded. (Most of TLOK had an uptick but it was noticeable with wuko as it was a small fandom before and it gained larger interest).

it just gets into ‘x isn’t doing fandom right’ and I’m just sick of this attitude. Lots of wuko fans have been here for years trying to create fic and content they like and its being dismissed because it doesn’t meet someone’s standards.

it gets into why I withdrew from fandom a bit. It’s like ‘x is popular and I don’t like it and I don’t like them’. I just don’t like this whole dunking on or generalising fandoms that you’re not a part of because they’re not doing things correctly, like wuko being too smutty (when it isn’t) or like… Zukka currently being a lot of younger teens/YA or whatever and not being ‘cool older people like it used to’. Things are popular for a reason. even if wuko was all smut, why is it the job of some anon to tell wuko fans they’re doing it wrong?

I’m still about, but I deleted the app off my phone and blocked it on my pic so I use tumblr on a mobile browser. It’s not great, but I needed to force myself to take a break but I still like seeing content So I am logged in here. But this is what we’re getting in the tags?

everyone talkin about the king jumpin off the building at the end of fallen kingdom and how sad it is but everyone is forgetting the part from take back the night where the master villager guy was crushed by the spike flail. like fellas. the king survived. he survived the entire thing, but that master guy is like actually dead.

you know what? time to do a rundown on this original minecraft plus one parody series (take back the night, find the pieces, and dragonhearted are all original songs)

so first of all, let me point out something about fallen kingdom. people dont seem to notice it in the first listen and sometimes they never figure it out but the majority of it is actually a flashback. notice the king’s beard is longer in the night time scenes and everything’s broken. like, of course the king isn’t dead. how would he be walkin around after all that shit happened in the destruction if he was??? anyway, lets move on to something i spent too much time writing.

those songs introduced so many characters that are all unique but arent explored really at all (mostly because the songs dont tell much of a story. just the bare minimum because thats about as much as you can do with minecraft parodies.)

like the guard with the nose itch,

these fellas

and the archer

like you cant really notice it while youre dancing and stuff but these guys are pretty cool to me. notice in the second image of the guard, his mustache is bigger. this shows that time has passed from the flashback on the left and the flashback on the right. it’s showing how the characters age. might just be me but that sort of thing really shows that these characters have lives. the pigs you can tell someone put effort into their designs and the archer you can kind of tell he’s confused and has seemingly never really had to shoot at anyone before

and then onto the more “subtley characterized” characters

the queen

you can tell all the violence is too much for her. she cries as she watches her husband take the sword and go outside. other characters in reaction to the mobs simply grabbed weapons and fought back whereas the queen was just crying. granted we dont see many citizens fighting back against them at all but you get my point.

the three villagers from the search party

you can tell the white and green ones are more experienced. the brown one seems jumpy, frightened, and confused. the white one silently grieves when the green one tells them that the mother is dead.

...and now onto the more heavily focused characters

the pig king

surprisingly, the pig king isn’t really shown to do much other than sit around. they make it seem like he’s the one in charge of everything though. he’s important but he’s not shown as much. just wanted to get him out of the way cause this was a cool screenshot

the pig commander guy

this guy just screams “cocky bastard”. literally every time he’s onscreen he either has a smirk or is reacting to something else. bonus for his little science man on the right. he doesn’t show up again (to my knowledge) but you can tell exactly what kind of character he is. we’ve all seen the “science man raises one finger as the boss ignores him” scene. anyway, back to the cocky guy.

this scene really i think shows his character the best. mustache man here is cornered and afraid and resorts to crying and giving up. this pig guy mocks him for a second before raising his sword.

the trio from the beginning of find the pieces

the chef is another character you can kind of get. like, he’s your basic “happy neighbor pal” or.. or just you know. “the buddy”. he’s sittin there cooking and he’s real happy about it until the hero bursts into the room and he drops the bowl. he takes a second to see who did it and when he sees the hero he laughs about it. like a “ha ha classic hero”. his expression on the bottom is a fading smile after the hero explains a dream he had. this is important for later so hold onto that.

the farmer.

you can tell he’s just done with life. he’s living basically on autopilot at this point. he looks like he’d wear the “i really wish i weren’t here right now” pin. you can kind of see bored and “done with everyone’s shit” and maybe a bit of vague “nostalgia sadness” yknow? also, this is off-topic but this panel makes for a great meme template. go ahead and use it please thank you.

the scientist

honestly? this guy doesnt have any characterization other than “i am the smart”. like he’s just the guy that gets the scroll off the shelf and tells the hero about the kingdom. but i do really like this character nonetheless. you really know exactly what kind of person he is because you’ve seen this kind of person so many times before.

ok so. remember before when i was talking about the chef and told you to remember something? notice the colors of these three’s robes. these might be the same villagers from the search party. this could explain why the hero went to these three villagers and why the cook lost his smile when he heard the hero’s story and why the scientist had a map and knew about the kingdom. the farmer was the confused jumpy guy before but now it seems like nothing can phase him. this might be because he didnt really get to do anything and he wasn’t involved as much because he was just the backpack guy. ‘s also why he doesnt do much here either. that might be a stretch but idc man let me theorize.

also they show up again later

the scientist is the one designing all the iron golems and planning where they patrol during the big fight scene in dragonhearted. the scene is set up in a way that makes it seem like he is crushed and killed by big robo pig herobrine. this is not the case though.

all three are seen later in the final scene. theyre not dead (thank god)

anyway lets talk about the master

sorry for the weird stretching btw i edited all this in paint from screenshots. anyway uhh so the master. you get a little bit of characterization here from him. a lot of these characters are stereotypes but that’s really expected considering this is a minecraft parody series. theres not a whole lot of talking you can do. this guy is literally the master guy in an action comedy. you can tell what kind of action comedy master you get from this scene alone. he makes the hero stew so he’s obviously a very caring master, and the following scene shows that he has a sense of humor, but hides it just to look cool. the moment he notices someone see him laughing he pretends it never happened. also a small detail here i wanna point out real quick. i love that the villagers can separate their arms here, but i ESPECIALLY love when they put them together. like, they dont always do it but they still do. i just love it. anyway...

because of this and the fact that the hero and the master were pretty much the only two in the song for a while there, it actually stings when the master is killed. the hero’s reaction is DEFINITELY a factor in this too. this guy was like a second father to him and now this is the second father he’s lost. FUCK i love these songs SO MUCH. i wonder what it would be like if the master ever met the king

note: i didnt characterize the hero, the king, or herobrine given that they are the main main three characters. you can probably figure out their personalities on your own. (well, almost all of them. herobrine doesnt really have much of one other than “occasionally turns into a disney villain when he finds out the king took the eye out of the portal”)

anyway uh, another thing this series really does is just visuals. cool lookin scenes all over the place here.

like look at this shit. especially the ones from dragonhearted. i think that picture of the golem was used everywhere for a short time and i dont blame them. its an epic shot and i love it.

...and i didnt even include the two classic scenes that you can visualize in your head at any moment

these two moments are so fucking powerful you don’t understand. like look at these. god. shit, this is just.. hhhh i love this series so much. you know, sometimes i like to think of stupid theories... like imagine if revenge was actually part of this series. it has no effect on the story but it seems to follow the same “rules” (all characters are in hardcore mode is a big one). idk maybe they did happen in the same universe but steve is just a great ancestor to the king or something. anyway, thats all the energy i can spend on one post. it took an hour and a half to write this and grab the screenshots. feel free to add on to this list of things we all love about fallen kingdom and the others.

My notes got messy so I’ll just put them under a cut to save yall’s dashboards but tl;dr I think I just made a buddy comedy

Pine

Born of the wonky generation of gaolers who were still born in the Fortress/during the first stages of migration away from it but were raised elsewhere in Sornieth

Confident, hotheaded and often inconsiderate of others (rarely out of malice, mostly out of to getting carried away), your typical “himbo rookie who needs to be knocked upside the head a couple times before they learn to be more humble and work as a team”

Despite being born in the Fortress (ignore the eyes, idc), he doesn’t much care for ancient gaoler traditions and history and would fail in history class if gaolers had history classes

Original favourite hobby is being an asshole for fun, later learns to maybe not do that

Current favourite hobby is annoying the banescale (and getting the pearlcatcher involved in annoying the banescale)

Originally a loner bc he doesn’t think anyone could keep up with him anyway

???

Born from the first generation of modern banescales

Uptight and reserved

Determined to find out everything he can about his breed’s history through any means necessary, though unfortunately his only way to do that currently is through, uhh, Pine

Refuses to ever raise his voice so as to never impact his wonderful singing that’s so culturally significant to him, the only thing that can make him scream any day is Pine (with rage that is, the absolute shithead)

Firmly believes that one cannot know their present unless they know their past and acts based on whatever he thinks the Elders would have approved of the most

(And so eventually there comes the time when he learns to consider the present and himself over what he thinks long-dead strangers would want of him)

Surprisingly fond of coatls (knowing his general nature of not being fond of Anything that’s younger than a century). Pine doesn’t understand the hype

???

(I hatched this kid myself to make them a banescale but they’re So Gorgeous with modern stuff I just Can’t. Also I wanna dress them now)

Just a kid! Would be around 10-12 in human years maybe?

Knows a bunch of random trivia about random things and everything there is to know about the fire flight

Sleeps in spike-free parts of Pine’s mane and loves travelling on his back

Doesn’t appear to have a pearl?

Uhh I don’t have much else on them yet

The overall deal with these guys

Pine wanted to go on his own big adventure, somehow ended up in fire territory. The banescale hatched from the lava flooded cave and now travels fire territory in search of answers about the banescales and for sources on their history. The banescale approached Pine in a small clan they were both resting at to maybe get some history lessons, decided real quick that Pine sucks, and left. The two of them met again later that day when they pulled the pearlcatcher out of trouble together and mostly just glared at each other for various reasons

They learned that the pearlcatcher knows a lot about the territory tho which Pine needs for adventuring, the banescale needs for going around doing research, and all good local guides are taken at this point due to recent stirrings bc of the ancients. So they decide to tolerate each other for a lil while and ask the kid for instructions on how to get to the next big clan, in hopes of finding a guide there despite the shortage

The kid offers to just guide them themself, and that’s how their joint adventure starts!

The two ancients realise that they can’t just leave this kid out in the fiery wasteland, so they tolerate each other in order to keep the kid safe, and eventually yknow. they warm up to each other and become better versions of themselves and their journey turns out to be beneficial to everyone

Every time the kid is asked about going home they say things like “oh, yeah, sure, I’ll head home soon, I’ll just get you guys over to this place” (and then they don’t leave anyway) or “don’t worry, my parents aren’t worried about me! They know I’m fine!” and stuff like that

(The truth is that their clan had been little but it was completely massacred in a clash between old generation gaolers and some banescales seeking revenge for what had happened to their breed. The kid is the only survivor)

I promise most of it is just goofy “two idiots who can’t stand each other are now in charge of a child together” and like. sweet and soft things as time goes on, I’m just too tired to write well rn

Pls get into Penny Arcade Adventures: a summary

I killed the creators it's my city now

here's the setting;

1920s lovecraftian horror comedy-to-tragedy with Sherlock Holmes undertones and gay subtext that for the purpose of my rendition I'm making explicit

Plot synopsis;

You play as Yourself. You live in a nice suburb, nice home, on Desperation Street, in New Arcadia - a fucked up city with a power imbalance. A giant robot just crushed your house and 2 weird guys are chasing after it, so you pick up your rake and start swinging at tinier robots, which also just suddenly appeared. You crave vengeance. You also team up with the guys to take down a few gods and it all goes downhill from there.

Game one: d--k jokes galore + f-ck mimes

Game two: comedic torture + f-ck ableists and rich people

Game three: the world ends + we meet some badasses, Gabe gets a cape

Game four: HELL WE'RE UNDER HELL also you're playing pokemon the whole game too

Characters;

You! You're blunt, snarky, and rightfully pissed that you're now homeless because of a stupid robot. You stop at nothing and you are so, so tired.

Tycho Brahe. A respectable guy who no one respects, majored in Apocalyptics, always on his toes, has a very leaderly aura. He's smart, kinda dorky, but probably cares about a well-read book more than a human life. He uses guns.

Jonathan Gabriel. I only draw him as kinda burly so that's all you're gonna get. The dumbass who gets pegged and probably thinks gender is a myth (he's right). He's silly, imo he's autistic-coded and I for one identify with that, and he's always down for a good brawl.

Anne-Claire. A sweet little girl in a pretty pink dress who is a mechanical genius, has shitty parents, and loves scientists and getting her hands on tech. She's Tycho's niece and helps you beef up your weapons.

Jim! He's a skull in a jar of green goo, and talks too much.

Moira. Tycho's ex fiancé? Wife? Girlfriend? Shrugs. She's a detective who also wields guns, hates Tycho so much, but sticks around because the world's is falling apart. She's pretty cool but only shows up in the 2nd half.

There's many more. That's only a chip off the gold block.

Pros;

Watching the descent from comedy into tragedy is one hell of a ride you will not wanna miss. It makes you go thru fridge horror thinking of all the implications when comparing 1 and 2, to 3 and 4.

The plot twist still gets me and I've been a fan for years. Don't trust the Narrator. That's all i wanna say.

The creators had little to say for the 3rd and 4th games, so in comparison they're better written and the difference is noticeable.

You get to beat up rich people

If you make fanart or fanfic, it will be noticed by the whole fandom

The games have f-ck all to do with the comics, god bless

Cons;

The fandom is 3 people big 😔

Fuck the creators

The plot of 2 is a little over the line of offensive, taking place in an asylum. It's overlooked if you consider that the enemies are all brainwashed, but if it's still bothersome then it's easily ignored.

If you don't like homeless jokes?? I guess avoid this

Grinding sucks d--k and 3 and 4 drag on forever because of this. The songs will get so annoying. I will kill Fish Force with my bare hands.

The games cost money :(

If you enjoy Flux Buddies, especially S4, or Ao Oni - then you'll definitely love this series. It's a trip. It really is.
