I saw this adorable fanart of rosekiller as girl dads by @industrations today and it got me thinking… assuming it ok with everyone involved, could you write something with them as parents? It has so much potential to be the cutest thing ever and I didn’t realize that rosekiller as parents was a need I had until today
Hello! I think this is the art you are referring to?
I love @industrations so this is an honour to write alongside their art. I hope this does justice to Indi's narrative and please know this was written with the utmost respect and love for their art - everyone go follow them! (I don't know them but I'd love to be mutuals!) thank you for this request - enjoy. with love
Girl dads (1/1) (rosekiller)
Barty and Evan never thought they would be dads. Kids really were just not in their plans. Barty wasn't even sure he actually liked Regulus' boy, but Evan is pretty sure it's just because he is part James.
Barty and Evan only decided on becoming parents when Luna was born. Evan was so in love with being an uncle, and maybe that's because Luna was exactly like Pandora, his twin whom he loved most in the whole world.
It was surprisingly Barty who suggested the new plan, because it was as Barty watched Evan with Luna that made him fall harder in love with Evan and finding that he had--and saw that Evan had--enough love to spill over into another human.
And that other human became exactly who everyone thought Barty & Evan's baby would be: a loud, sassy, and wild child. She had great manners and followed her dads' instructions to a T, but her dads were snarky and cheeky and so was she.
She ran the house. Made both of them laugh louder than they ever had, made both of them have heart attacks daily, and made both of them happier than they ever had been.
And every night Barty and Evan laid on the couch exhausted after putting her to bed. A mess of toys scattered on the floor. Barty pulled Evan into his arms, brushed a cheerio out of his hair, and kissed his forehead. Evan hummed in contentment.
"We should go to bed," Evan said.
"I know my back is still killing me from falling asleep here last night," Barty groaned.
"Shh she'll wake up," Evan hushed.
A moment of silence passed between them. A hesitance of sore and tired bodies not yet ready to move. And then a pitter patter of small feet and a tiny voice calling "dada!"
Evan patted his hand on Barty's chest: "dada that's you."
But their daughter was already climbing onto their laps. She snuggled right in and they sighed, allowing it. Too tired to care and too in love with their little family to let the snuggles pass them by.

i have no excuse for this other than the fact @clusterbuck and @hattalove were talking about big family buddie (correct) yesterday and this wee drabble popped into my head. so. enjoy.
“Hey, Miss Girl – what’s all this noise about, huh?”
Eddie couldn’t help but smile as he watched Buck tend to their fussing daughter, their eight-week-old leaving them under no illusions regarding the health of their lungs. Eddie was – well, he was tired. Delightfully, happily, down to his bones tired.
He knew – of course he knew – that the newborn stage was a lot of sleepless nights, and passing Violet between them as they did laps of their house in an attempt to get her to sleep, and he knew that newborn babies had zero respect for their parents need for a solid six hours (at least) of uninterrupted sleep, but he hadn’t expected the way tiredness had settled into his bones like a permanent state of being – he was a firefighter after all, he should be used to weird hours.
Then again, he’d never done the newborn stage. Eddie was trying – really, sincerely – not to beat himself up about a past he couldn’t change, but he couldn’t help but regret that he had missed this stage with Christopher: tiny screaming lungs, baby sick, tiredness, and all.
Shaking off the thought, Eddie watched as his husband cooed at their daughter.
“Ma’am, I can’t change your smelly diaper if you keep kicking me,” Buck said, fixing Violet with an endearingly serious look, Violet looking back at him with a face full of threatening tears and screams. “Yeah, I know – life is rough, you should be able to kick your father whenever you want. I didn’t want to have to give you a reality check at eight weeks old, but it’s a tough world out there, Violet.”
One thing they’d discovered in the eight weeks that Violet had been alive was how soothing she found Buck’s voice, how, often, a rambling stream of consciousness from Buck was the only thing that settled her. Buck had been absolutely triumphant about the discovery, gleeful as he explained to Chimney that his inability to stop talking actually had healing qualities.
The medical soundness of that was questionable, Eddie knew: but he’d always thought the same. The rumble of Buck’s chest as he talked had talked Eddie down from more than one panic attack in the years, they’d been together – he was on Violet’s side here.
“There we are,” Buck cooed. “A clean diaper. Isn’t that better, hm?”
Violet squawked in response, her little legs going a mile a minute, Buck laughing as he battled to get her onesie back on. She was full of energy, their Violet – Eddie had known from the moment he first held his daughter that she had gotten 110% of Buck’s energy. She had his bright blue eyes, too, and Eddie knew, they could still change, but secretly he hoped they never would – something about having a miniature Evan Buckley walking around in the world brought Eddie a kind of joy he couldn’t explain.
“Oh, honey,” Buck sounded genuinely sad as he spoke. “I got you a bottle, changed your diaper – I don’t know what else could be wrong,” he cooed, careful as he scooped Violet up and out of her changing table, cradling her in the crook of his elbow.
Eddie had long since believed his husband was the most attractive man on the planet – but now, drinking in Buck’s appearance as he stood in the colourful explosion of purples that painted the walls of Violet’s nursery, his husband wearing a two day old t-shirt covered in milk, and baby sick, his hair practically standing on end – a direct result of a night of tossing and turning, taking turns to check on baby V – Eddie wasn’t sure he’d ever seen a more attractive sight in his life.
“Maybe she just wants a cuddle from her dad,” Eddie hummed, his voice croaky as he finally spoke, drawing Buck’s attention.
Buck smiled, Eddie’s own tiredness reflected in Buck’s face – but the happiness was clear, too. Eddie had known, from the moment he met Buck, that Evan Buckley was one of those people who was just born to nurture, whatever the opportunity to do that was. Selfishly, Eddie was really damn glad he was the one who got to make Buck a father twice over (so far, anyway – because a house teeming with love, and laughter, and hideous coloured plastic toys sounded like a dream Eddie hadn’t realised he’d had before.)
Carefully, Buck shifted Violet so she was curled into the crook of his neck, their tiny baby looking even more tiny nestled against Buck’s broad chest. “You reckon?”
Eddie nodded, padding across the soft carpet of Violet’s nursey, folding himself against Buck’s side without asking for permission. If Eddie could ignore the baby sick smell, Buck could deal with a clingy Eddie for a few minutes. Softly, gently, Eddie brushed a finger against Violet’s cheek. “I know I’ve said this every day for the last eight weeks,” he began, keeping his voice quiet. “But I can’t believe she’s real.”
Buck smiled, kissing the top of Violet’s head, and Eddie’s, in turn. “We’ve done alright for ourselves, haven’t we?” he hummed. “Me, you, Christopher – Violet. The dogs.”
“And the fish, and the stray cat you keep telling me you don’t feed,” Eddie continued the list. “And the revolving door of Christopher’s friends neither of us can say no to, and our nieces and nephews.”
“And the alpaca,” Buck grinned.
Eddie rolled his eyes. “I still can’t believe you adopted an alpaca for Christopher,” he sighed. “The only reason I didn’t divorce you is the fact the alpaca has to stay living on a farm.”
Buck couldn’t hold in a laugh, wincing as a sleepy Violet fussed, for a second, before settling again. “You also love me,” he reminded. “That’s surely a second reason.”
“Third,” Eddie mumbled, pressing his face to Buck’s chest. “I want more babies. That’s the second.”
Eddie could practically hear Buck’s smile. “Let’s get this one old enough for pre-school first,” Buck suggested. “Then you can have all the babies you want, Eddie.”
They were quiet, for a second, before Eddie spoke.
“We did good,” Eddie reassured, wrapping an arm around his husband’s waist. Their teenager was – thankfully – soundly sleeping, and Violet was 90% of the way to sleep, and for a moment, he just wanted to drink the bliss of his life in: the kids, the dogs, the house he shared with the man he loved. “We did really good, Buck.”

i keep imagining Tim going to Fairmount as a child And Dr. Corenthal instantly being like "Okay this is my new son now ig" I have a very vivid mental imagine of lil Tim quietly sitting in a little graveyard and gently tracing the names on the tombstones and then Dr. Corenthal comes up and Tim's like "They all died on the same day." And Dr. Corenthal looks at Fairmount!Vinnie, Fairmount!Jeff Fairmount!Stephanie and Fairmount!Evan's tombstones and lets out the saddest sigh and is like "Kid, you shouldn't be out here. It's not a good place." Have a little blurb i'll turn this into an AO3 fanfic when I get the chance (also i have no idea how old the MT4 were when they were adopted or what year they died so I just made them all 10-12 and put the date of death as the day of the 10-27-1981 letter) Edit: due to extentuating circumstances (actually fucking reading the wiki) I changed all of their ages to 16-18) Dr. Corenthal looked around. Where was the kid? He'd been quietly coloring in his room, and now he wasn't. He glanced out the window and saw the kid, the new patient- Tim, that was his name, Timothy Wright- sitting in the little graveyard behind Fairmount Children's Home. Dr. Corenthal hesitated. Tim shouldn't be out there. It was cold outside, and... and a burial ground was no place for a small child. He shrugged on his coat and stepped outside. Tim sat quietly in the midst of the four tombstones, solemnly tracing the lettering on them with his index finger. He seemed almost as if he were in a trance, not hearing or not caring about Dr. Corenthal coming up to him. The doctor sat down next to the small boy. "Kid, what are you doing out here? It's cold. You'll freeze." He said. Tim's eyes remained fixed on the tombstone in front of him. "I didn't know you had kids." He said. Dr. Corenthal looked at the tiny tombstone, the hand-carved lettering- he remembered carving those letters into the stone himself with shaky hands and a film of tears, a process which took him most of a week. The words, which read: HERE LIES VINCENT CORENTHAL BELOVED SON BORN JUNE 21ST 1963 DIED OCTOBER 27TH 1981 MAY HE REST WITH THE ANGELS "They all died on the same day." Tim stated. Dr. Corenthal flinched. "They did, indeed." He agreed, slightly wary. Tim pointed to each of the other tombstones in turn.
HERE LIES STEPHANIE CORENTHAL BELOVED DAUGHTER BORN DECEMBER 19TH 1964 DIED OCTOBER 27TH 1981 MAY HER SPIRIT FIND PEACE AT LAST
HERE LIES JEFFERY CORENTHAL BELOVED SON BORN AUGUST 18TH 1964 DIED OCTOBER 27TH 1981 MAY HE DREAM PEACEFULLY
HERE LIES EVAN CORENTHAL BELOVED SON BORN NOVEMBER 22ND 1965 DIED OCTOBER 27TH 1981 MAY HE FOREVER SLUMBER "Why?" Tim asked. "What?" Dr. Corenthal said. "Why did they die? How did they die? Was there some kind of accident?" Tim asked. He looked up at Dr. Corenthal, and the good doctor was struck by how innocent and sweet his eyes were. He had no idea how cruel and evil the world could be. To him, the Tall Man was nothing more than a scary monster, and there were always going to be good people who could save him from the monster. But no one could save Dr. Corenthal. And no one had saved his children. No one had saved Jeffery, poor Jeffery- Dr. Corenthal still remembered his wife's screaming, poor Maryann was inconsolable, she found Jeffery eviscerated, his guts thrown around the room like confetti, and there was blood- oh, so much blood. Poor, poor Stephanie- lying with her arms and legs bent at awkward angles, her skull cracked open like an egg, her eyes blank and lifeless, lightless, no more life, no more Steph. She'd had a nasty fall, trying to stop- to stop the- the boy- from getting upstairs, from getting to Vincent's room, tried to protect Vinnie, but she couldn't- oh God, poor Steph. No one saved her, either.
Vincent, oh god, poor Vinnie- he tried so hard to stop- to stop the boy- even though he knew there was no one he could save, he fought- he tried- he could have run, could have run, the door was right there- but no, no. He stayed. He fought. He died. Poor Vinnie, oh god, collapsing when Dr. Corenthal finally made it up the stairs and into the room, bleeding, Vinnie looking at him with a sad smile, "I love you, Dad." And then no more, no more Vinnie, no more serious eldest child who always tried to take care of the others, no more baking with Maryann after school, no more talented crayon drawings that had turned into the beautiful oil pastels on the refrigerator, no more Vincent, all gone. He didn't want do do it, didn't want to kill him, but he had to- had to protect Linnie, had to protect the only one left, had to save her- had to get the gun, ran down the stairs as he heard the boy, the creature IN the boy- "Papa. Papa, where are you going? Come back." And then the voice, demonic and unholy, "YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM ME, RABBIT." The humming, that fucking humming, the creature that was in the boy, was in- in Evan, that THING- HABIT. HABIT chased Dr. Corenthal down the stairs of that house, chased him into the room where Dr. Corenthal slammed the door in it's face, heard it pounding, shrieking in an unholy tongue, and he prayed, he prayed for God to save him, and he yanked open the drawer, ripped out the gun, and the door crumpled, the wood splintered, and he was standing in the doorway, he was wearing Evan's body, covered in blood with a knife in each hand, and Dr. Corenthal cried and screamed, his hand shook but he did it, he shot the demon, and then it was over and it's rage filled purple eyes became confused brown ones, and it wasn't HABIT but Evan, Evan asking why, why. And then it was all over. No more Evan. No one had saved his children. No one could save him. Dr. Corenthal suddenly jolted back to reality. "It was a terrible accident, yes." He said. "What happened? Was it a car accident or something?" Tim asked. Dr. Corenthal hesitated. "Timothy, listen. You're young. Small. You don't need to be hearing about what happened to my kids, not now. Okay?" He said. Tim looked at him with those innocent brown eyes, so much like the eyes that had once stared out of the face of his beloved eldest son. "Okay." Tim said quietly. They both stood up, and Dr. Corenthal wrapped an arm around Tim's shoulders. "Do you have any more kids?" Tim asked. Dr. Corenthal thought of Linnie. Thought of how she was getting along, twelve years after the "accident". She was in college now. She was okay now. As okay as she could be. He thought of how easy it was for those innocent brown eyes, so much like the eyes of his darling youngest son, to lie. To hide the dark truth behind them. "No, Tim. They were it. I have no children left." Dr. Corenthal lied. Tim nodded solemnly. Dr. Corenthal turned and led Tim back towards Fairmount Children's Home, glancing back at the graveyard. "Tim, let me give you some advice, okay?" Dr. Corenthal said. Tim looked up at him, and what the good doctor said would stick with him for the rest of his life, through everything, through Jay, through Alex, through Brian, through everything that happened in Rosswood and everything that would ever happen to him again. "There are... things. In this world. Things like the creature who you draw sometimes. And some of them are good, but some of them are very, very bad. Timothy, son, you listen to me. You meet these things? Do not trust them. Do not try to kill them. Better yet, duck your head and run the other way. You understand me, son?" Dr. Corenthal said. Tim was never good at running. He ran, he ran so fast and so far but he never ever made it, the things always caught up to him, until he stopped running. But when he was a child, he understood. "I understand." Tim said. Dr. Corenthal sighed. "Bless you, kiddo."

unreliable narrator.
a short one-shot from William Afton's perspective–sort of a character study– canon to blips. notable warnings for physical and emotional abuse and neglect, s//h, and sui// behavior.
William Afton did not want his son to die.
When his favourite child– Elizabeth, of course– had died, he had not enjoyed the feeling. William was far from an emotional man, so he was surprised by how absurdly difficult balancing his work and his science became over the following weeks. Sure, he wasn't blubbering on about it for ages like Henry had been after his daughter's death– which was cute, at first, but became rather grating after the first month or so– but he did feel as if something was missing. It disconcerted him.
No matter. It was an oversight; one of the few mistakes William had made in his life. It was not going to happen again.
William Afton did not want his son to die.
Of all his children, William understood Evan the least. The boy was... strange. Sensitive. He had been alright as a baby– quiet, but adventurous– but, as he got older, the child's temperament had changed. He cried and cried over every little thing, and– while it was annoying, yes– William found it to, more notably, be confusing. He hadn't thought much of it at first– his first boy had gone through a similar phase– but the fact that he hadn't outgrown it by the time he was entering his school years was baffling.
Even so, William had treated him rather well. There was food available to him in the fridge, he was given clothes that fit, toys to play with, and high-quality medical care. Evan had been born with a cleft lip and palate– which William had paid a handsome sum to repair– and he'd required tube feeding as a baby. His mother had been wrought with the aftereffects of a turbulent pregnancy at the time, so the boy's care had fallen to William.
Caring for any infant was both tedious and fairly unsanitary, and this one had come with extra responsibilities. Still, William had done a good job. If he had grown up in William's childhood home, he...
Well, no matter.
As Evan got older and grew more daring in his exploration, the boy's father had gone out of his way to keep him safe. Nothing like what had happened to Elizabeth would ever happen again, because William would find a way to always be watching him.
The bear had been perfect. A radio, a camera. William would always know what the boy was doing, so there was no risk of him running his mouth, and there would be no repeat of Elizabeth's fate. Evan would be safe.
William had sacrificed quite a lot for children he didn't love. Elizabeth was likeable, at least, but the others...
Meh.
William Afton did not want his son to die.
The scene had been bloody. William could smell it as one of the panicked party hosts led him out to the dining area. His composure was intact, but the speed with which his legs carried him to the site was uncharacteristic.
The boy was pulled down. He lay limp in his father's arms; lifeless, but breathing.
Michael had done it, apparently. William was only a little surprised. It wasn't as if William hadn't encouraged the behavior. He wanted to see how far it would go, whether the boy had any potential, but Michael had always been just a bit too concerned with the wellbeing of living creatures for William's taste. His incessant fussing over the wounded mutt in their driveway had spoiled William's opportunity for a perfect kill. The behavior was swiftly corrected, of course, but William couldn't do those things at home anymore. Michael had ruined it.
Light bullying aside, doing any serious harm to William's things was off-limits. Michael should have known that.
William Afton did not want his son to die.
Six days. Evan had fought for six days, and William had been by his side in the hospital the entire time. He'd even taken off work.
William had been there when he died. It was a peaceful occasion, unlike any of the deaths William had seen before.
He was holding his son's hand when the breathing stopped, eyes fixed on the tight gauze fastened over a broken skull and swollen cheeks.
It would be fine. William could fix this.
William Afton did not want his son to die.
Michael couldn't be left alone anymore.
It wasn't something William had expected. Evan's death had carried the glimmering hope that Michael may have taken after his father– a delightful treat, because nobody was ever like William– but the man felt his hopes being quashed with each moment he spent with his remaining child. In response to the event, Michael had become... irrational.
William hoped it was temporary, because his patience was wearing thin. The last time he'd been left unattended, William had come home to a fairly lackluster attempt at hiding the arm Michael had made striped and bloody, the sound of something metal clattering into the sink.
It was a curious behavior that William didn't really understand, but– after a few cycles of observation, and one occasion of the boy losing control and going a bit too far– it was one that he had decided was bad.
Michael had been disobedient with the new rule. He'd also gotten more creative; more impulsive. William had to start child-locking car doors. It would cast a very unflattering light on William were all of his offspring to die in such a short span of time– and he was conscious of that– but there was something else.
William Afton did not want his son to die.
The boy quaked where he lay curled up on the couch, lip quivering and eyes on the telly. William watched from the other end of the sofa, exhaustion starting to seep into the look of dull interest that marked his features. This had been going on for too long.
Twice. Twice, today, Michael had broken the rule. William was tired from a long day of work, but he wasn't confident that, were he to go to bed before the boy fell asleep, Michael would remain relatively intact by morning. So, William sat with him.
Hours later, though, he was still awake.
William spied the clock on the wall. Four in the morning. This was getting ridiculous.
Sighing, William leaned over and tugged the boy towards him, pulling him by the back of his collar as if it were scruff on a cat.
Startled, the boy flinched, almost trying to wriggle away before deciding better of it and falling eerily still. He stared up at his father in frightened askance, voice faltering as he hesitated in questioning the action.
"Father, what...?"
William situated the child in his arms, feeling a twinge of annoyance at the inconvenience. Michael was nearly fourteen; he shouldn't need such coddling.
He positioned the boy's ear over his heart, allowing him to hear the steadiness of his father's breathing and heartbeat. This maneuver had always helped Michael fall asleep when he was a baby, and it was going to help now.
"Pipe down." William shifted, as miffed by his own actions as he was annoyed with the request for an explanation. William was as unused to this sort of thing as his son was, and he was making himself uncomfortable. "You need to go to sleep. I don't want to have to miss work because of you."
Still shaking, the boy quieted. William leaned his head back and closed his eyes, a silent request for sleep to consume them both.
In the quiet of early morning, the simplest of sentiments was the only one that rang true.
William Afton did not want his son to die.

Could you give me a recap on the David lore because I forgor :’(
Oh boy that’s a loooong question (also rather comical and foreshadowing) /pos
Ok I’ll give ya all the David lore I have. I’ll go in timeline and say where the main two aus diverge as both aus have the same start.
David Evans was born in Australia (10th of October, 1956) after their parents had moved from Wales 11 years previously. Growing up he was the only ‘girl’ out of the kids and his parents were unfortunately rather misogynistic and so treated him poorly. His mother was mother the verbal abuse kind while his father was physically agressive. His three brothers (well one ended up transitioning later but i’ll keep it simple) who were about 9-8 years older than him were mostly good siblings (excluding his oldest brother who mostly mimicked their dad and was a general asshole).
(Somewhere in the childhood part David sees the Beatles perform on their famous Ed Sullivan show appearance and he became obsessed with them. This obsession continues on for the rest of his life)
He started transitioning in his late teens and his parents were wholeheartedly supportive of it as they just really didn’t want to have a daughter. David’s sister unfortunately didn’t get the same love when she transitioned and was shunned by their parents and older brother (also the youngest brother ended up dying at the age of 12 from drowning I think).
Anyways so David gets an extreme interest in mechanics and engineering and purses a course in it.
Now this is where timelines diverge and I’m gonna use colour coded text to tell ya which au the info is from. Red = Canon AU, Purple = Non-Canon AU
David fails the course and gets a job as a janitor at the local Freddy Fazbenders. While he works there he falls in love with a dayshift worker named Toby, they start dating until everyone’s favourite Tangerine and Aubergine show up at the location. They start causing chaos and eventually rig the suit to go off and due to neither of them showing up David is forced to wear the suit by their boss. He dies and is sent to the factory to become a phone guy (at the age of 29). (While at the factory an employee there glues roller skates to David’s feet so they’re permanently stuck there.)
He starts working back at Freddy’s, seeing Toby but not knowing who he is, Toby doesn’t realise at first either. But as soon as he does he ends up being fired.
David works at the location for a few years before being sent back to the factory to wait until he’s needed.
This results in him working for Mr J (the same Tangerine from earlier(the best way to describe Mr J is that he’s more like the business Jack in dsaf 3, more caring for money then people.) and he is just the worst boss. The only good thing he does is giving David his alive name back to him but doesn’t actually let him use it in public. He abuses David verbally and physically, poor dude is just covered in bruises, tiny cuts and burn marks from Mr J’s taser as well as his skeleton just having so many fractures and improperly healed breaks. (Funfact cause this whole thing takes place in Australia, healthcare is free so Mr J could let David go to hospital for 0 charge but he doesn’t.) Mr J just continues to make him work like that.
Due to the phoney process David’s body can no longer age, permanently frozen at the age he died. He’s mostly immortal because of that.
During the time when his partner Toby was firstly fired a child randomly spawned in the house he and David had been living in and so Toby just started raisin them as his kid (Jay).
Long story short of that part after David leaves freddys (due to a complicated cross-over event) he goes to find Toby only to find Jay living there as a fully grown adult with his own (adopted kid) and to learn that Toby had died a while ago in a car crash.
David starts living with his family and starts to notice that immortality thing as he watches his son and granddaughter growing older but he doesn’t seem to change. It finally clicks in his head when his son dies (natural causes) and he stays as close to his granddaughter and her kids as he can, not wanting to loose them.
He slowly starts to disassociate and becomes a but reclusive, the only thing he still has is a dog named Parasite (complicated au cross-over event that carried over to the canon. Basically Parasite used to be a clone of mr j but he got turned into a small lil mutant doggo and mellowed out, becoming David’s therapy dog)
David does get to meet all his descendants though and he tries to be as loving and caring to them as his was to his son and granddaughter.
Ok finally time for the other one!
So this time around David passes the course and gets a job at Freddys as a technician. While he works there he falls in love with a man named Toby (same one as before).
David ends up starting to work for Afton Robotics and works his way up in the company.
One day a child spawns inside their home (Jay, yes he just spawns because its just funnier), David notices how Jay looks identical to how he looked as a kid so they both decide to keep and raise them.
A few years later Toby passes away in a car accident leaving David alone to raise Jay while still workin at Afton Robotics. He does his best and tries to make things work around raising Jay and still making sure the company doesn’t fall behind on things (as by this point the original owner and operator of Afton Robotics had been revealed to be a fraud and was sent to prison, David being basically in second command basically became the new owner and operator). Two years after Toby’s death David starts dating again and falls in love with a dude named Joia. They date for about 3 years before getting married. (David is 40 when he marries Joia)
Blah blah wholesome cute family stuff with raising Jay and Jay eventually going and adopting a daughter (Moon).
David is 59 and Joia is 57 when Jay adopts Moon and they continue to be a happy family together.
At the age of 67 David starts to notice his slipping memory and general recall issues and so he and Joia end up going to the doctors about it, they come back finding out that David is in the early stages of dementia. As the years go on he starts to be affected more and more by the dementia, loosing memories and the ability to walk, not wanting to talk, sleeping more and more, being easily confused at where he is and who his family is.
Joia stays by David through it, slowly watching his husband fade away. Jay and Moon both visit frequently to check in on them and spend time with them.
David eventually is taken into the hospital as Joia was informed he only likely had a week left. By this point David has no idea who Joia, Jay or Moon are. To him its just a room of strangers.
The last day he ends up getting his memories back for a short while (something that does rarely happen with dementia irl) and he gets to give a proper goodbye to his family. Joia holds his hand and kisses him one last time on the cheek before David falls asleep again. He sleep for about 30 minutes, his breathing getting slower and slower until he forgets how to breathe and dies at age 85
(And because my friends didn’t want it to be that sad heres the extra part)
David becomes a ghost, regaining all his memories, staying with Joia as he just couldn’t bare to leave him behind. Joia can’t see or hear him, he doesn’t even know he’s there but he does talk to himself sometimes in a way thats meant to be a conversation with David. David answers but yk he can’t be heard by Joia.
About 6 years later Joia also passes away and they are reunited in the afterlife to spend eternity together.
So there you go, all the David lore you could ask for!

I need to be spoken down to like a whole child cause Im so lost about Virgil lore and now his family lore?? omg
help me, i wanna simp so hard for this man but i needa know everything about him like his bloodtype and the time he was born asdfghujiklkjhgfds
Pfpfp yeah I get that lmao OK OK hang on tight! It’s gonna be pretty long!
Let me give you some info about his parents (mostly his mom lmao)
The world building is basically modern fantasy like, when humans and supernatural/mythical creatures co exist with each other, in a modern world like ours—
Erin Evans (Virgil’s mom) was actually half human and half fae (human witch mom named Agatha) (fae dad named Irvin) basically survived and escaped a witch hunt that murdered her mother when Erin was young. Of course her father was away at that time and when he returns, he found his wife dead and daughter missing, assuming she died as well, is in isolation out of grief.
Erin was soon later taken in and adopted by another fae, who is a single father of two, now three! Of course Erin grew up and met Thomas Evans (Virgil’s dad) during secondary school (or high school cuz this place takes in England ivdhcdjcdhc) They become high school sweethearts and marry each other during their mid 20’s. Erin is a designer who can also sew! Thomas is a florist in his family business!
Erin and Thomas has their first child, the one and only, Virgil Evans! Then the second child they have is their daughter Sarah Agatha Evans! And lastly, their youngest child is their son, Irvin Evans!
Sadly, Thomas passed away a few days before Virgil’s 10th birthday. Of course the family was devastated, especially Virgil because Virgil had a little argument with Thomas for going to miss out on his 10th birthday. Thomas had to go and visit his sister whose husband has passed away from another country and had to use the plane.
Sadly there was a malfunction during the plane ride. And before Thomas left to the airport, Thomas takes off his necklace and place it on Virgil’s nightstand as a little gift of apology, noticing that Virgil likes to play with it and wear it. So the necklace was the only thing that Virgil have of his father.
So growing up without his dad was a little rocky for his family but Virgil try his best to help raising his little brother. So whenever there are times when he’s alone, he copes by playing video games that his dad bought for him. Of course Erin notice this and took him to therapy.
Years has gone by and he was getting better, he use to be in a track team but eventually stop realizing that he doesn’t want to do that for the rest of his life, then there is his time in high school, things kind of gone well, his sister introduced him to theatre, became a theatre kid lmao, he has a pretty good voice and knows his way of instruments and met a couple of his classmates that has the same talent as him and went on to create a rock band called Below The Stars! Things have gotten pretty well with him and his band! That is until there is a fall out between Virgil and his bandmate that created a rumor about Virgil for “sleeping around” due to Virgil politely decline to their love confession.
Of course he has dated people here and there but that usually end on a good note. So the fact that his bandmate couldn’t handle the rejection and started the rumor offended and angered him to the point that he fought them physically. And thus broke up the band.
After graduation, he cut himself off from his ex bandmate and stay in contact with the others. Of course they drifted apart due to going to university and such. Virgil moved out of his family home to his apartment that is near his college. He adopted a Doberman puppy, he named him Scott! During his time, he got himself a part time job at a children’s daycare! Of course he visit his mom and younger siblings often! Usually take and drop off Irvin to school! He also take Sarah and Irvin out shopping! He also help take care of the house whenever Erin is busy working.
Everything was going well for him! He started focusing on himself, healing, plays music and post it online, he also has his streaming channel! He usually games or even cross dress for fun! He also try to go back to dating! Wanting to meet someone who he could spend his life with and maybe have a family together!
And so 22 year old Virgil is satisfied with his life until one day, that one day his life fall apart when he’s at his family house. The day that he had become sentient. He was enjoying his time, taking in his surroundings, his thoughts began to drift. Why is his pupil has a star shaped? Why is he the only one have that? Shouldn’t one of his siblings or parents have that as well? Or why everything looks like it was in 2D? Like the anime’s he enjoys watching? He looks down at his hands. Something’s not right. Why does he look off? Why does the living room looks off…Why does everything look.. off? So…artificial?
Suddenly, strange numbers and letters began to appear on the walls, startling him. Nervously he rushes towards his mom. However when he reaches towards her, he is horrified. She’s glitching and disintegrating into numbers and letters, and yet, she looked indifferent, no… she looks like she’s in a dazed. He could barely reach her to touch her and she disappears, he felt his stomach dropped, his blood run cold, he rushes towards his brother’s room, and there he was, laying on the floor, lifeless, disintegrating. The poor elf held his little brother into his arms, sobbing and pleading him to wake up, shouting for help.
Too busy holding his little brother, the walls, the items, the floors began to disappear. Geometric shapes appearing everywhere, the color of the sky turn into one sky blue to a deep blue. Irvin didn’t wake up, he dissolved into Virgil’s arms. Virgil, horrified, scared, confused, looks around, crying and sobbing. Shaking and trembling. His eyes darted around his surroundings. Where is his puppy? Where is Sarah?!
This is NOT his brother’s room.
This is NOT his family home
Everything is gone
Why is he still sitting there?!
WHY IS HIS BODY NOT DISINTEGRATED LIKE EVERYONE ELSE?!
What the hell even is this place?

-There’s Always Me-
OKAY YALL, no this ain’t a chapter of “There’s Always Me” BUT! This is a little something full of information that I think is gon be useful (?)
First! The new thing I’ve started is called “There’s Always Me” inspired from a song of Elvis’
-Quick info-
So just to keep in mind, this is placed basically “King Creole” time, no cellphones, television’s black and white, but the certain thing I’m taking from nowadays is the high ass prices. (Why am I noting this? Because it’s a trigger, fr 😭)
So just a warning I guess, there’s some crime into this series overall such as shoplifting, stealing, police (idk just thought I should warn that, but nothing like brutality and all that. God no) children, (again, y’all…children are annoying, so it’s gon be a warning for sure), some fighting, and that’s bout it for now. OH! And, just to keep in mind, these chapters won’t be inspired much by Elvis’ songs nor will I probably like tag lots of his songs, but more of what I grew up with that helped me out ♥️.
-Character and Setting-
Soooo, this part I think is gonna be very useful because like…ahem, I just feel it. (I won’t bother for Danny because we all understand why he’s the way he is, and that he’s misunderstood for the sweet person he is.)
👀Where we living? 👀 The reader, her 2 sisters, brother, and mother live in a small home with one bedroom, a living room that’s connected to a small kitchen, in a sketchy ass neighborhood that always got the police running around.
Tumblr media
(Here’s a lil sketch to try and make sense of it😭, if y’all need like ya know, furniture placement too, lmk) The dad’s long gone, and left right after the youngest, Evan, was born. They live a few blocks away from their near-future home (the apartment complex where we shall meet Danny and ‘em) until they gotta leave their current place.
•Y/N•
Y/N: Y/N is the reader of course! She’s the oldest of 4 siblings- Junbug, Tom, and Evan. She’s basically the mother figure to them since their Mama is rarely home. Shes working at a diner as a waitress, and a parent at home. -mature, caring, motherly, responsible and loving
•Mama•
I know I’m probably doing the most but I feel it’s best to give an understanding to “Mama”.
Mama is a single mother of four kids, she’s working 2 jobs. One as a janitor at a local restaurant and a cashier at a gas station. She’s doing her absolute best, she doesn’t want to have to work over time and hardly see her kids, but she has to, to manage a roof over their heads. Even through all the overtime and pass work hours, the bills aren’t always up to date and paid. From time to time, or more often now, there’s no hot water, the lights don’t turn on at times, or there’s even nothing on the table. It pains to see this and know that she can’t properly provide for her family, she doesn’t want her kids to suffer like this, so she’s open and continuously looking for better options in both work and home, and she’s more than thankful for Y/N and her help
-troubled, worried, doubter, but fierce and loving
•Junbug•
Junbug, nicknamed for James, is the only boy, and second oldest after reader. He’s is 12 years old. He’s not as payed attention to, and he’s a bit of a trouble maker. Grade’s are okay, but is messing and hanging around with the wrong kids, and under the wrong influence. -Sweet, troubled, lost, and isn’t a quitter
•Tom•
Tom, nicknamed for Tamera, is the third child, and second daughter! Tom’s aged 9 years old, and is a good kid. She’s got alright grades, helps out reader, and her Mama with Evan. She’s a bit of a loner at school, and is a confused, curious one. Without having Pops there, she’s confused on what’s right and what’s wrong for certain subjectsa and lost for how she’s to be treated, and isn’t much of a talker either.
-Generous, confused, quiet, lonely
•Evan•
Evan, short for Evangeline is the youngest of all children. She’s aged 5 years old, and is also a curious one. She’s loud, sweet, and a talkative one (she’s one of ‘em kids who would spill their family’s juice to a random stranger while playing at the park 😭.) She’s nosy, sassy, and basically what every toddler coming of age would be!
-Sassy, cutie, sweet, and nosy
……………………………………………………………………….
hopefully this’ll help when the series come, and I’ll always include the link for this in all chapters for everyone and anyone confused or just curious!
ALSO! PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE, TELL ME IF YOUD LIKE TO BE TAGGED! IMMA DO A TAGLIST SO YA KNOW, LMKKK
oh and feedback, notes, and tips, would be loved and so appreciated!🫶🏼♥️♥️
MTC (More To Come),
Lexi 🥰🥰

24 Bendy Questions/Opinions!
So user BeninjaLIVE over on Twitter has this Bendy thread happening that asks a bunch of opinion questions, and you know what? I'm feeling a little playful tonight, so we're gonna answer them here. If you didn't have a baseline of where I stand as a Bendy fan before, well here you go!
1. Which is your favorite game? feel free to say any of the unreleased ones too!
See this is already hard. XD I really love the original BATIM for its story and characters, definitely my favorite story, but I've enjoyed the experience of Dark Revival a ton too. I've probably been exposed to it more times as a result of friends casually booting it up to play in calls, and the fan service for the original was great, Chapter 4 still breaks my heart. But I am a lot harder on its storytelling since, I don't think it did as good of a job as Ink Machine, especially in terms of how fleshed out its characters were. So I guess, Dark Revival for overall experience.
2. out of all the games, Which Character is your favorite?
I think my answer is still a tie between Sammy and Malice. XD They are my beloveds.
3. Which character installs the most fear / is the most horrific?
That depends on the context! From a gameplay perspective? Carley scares the crap out of me (I love you ghost girl, I want to give you a cookie, even though you're mean to us). From a writing perspective? The ink demon is pretty horrifying both in that he's this terrifying monster and was horribly mistreated within his backstory. A victim turned predator.
4. If you were in charge of directing the new Bendy game, what would change? (new features, new characters, changed gameplay, etc)
This is a dangerous question to ask me. X'''D I would put more focus on story and have more time spent with characters so that we get to know them and care about them a bit more. If we're specifically talking about The Cage, I want more of Sammy and Joey (and Boris, I would kill for a Boris reunion). I want to get to know them (if we're continuing the "Joey Drew learning to be a better person arc" I want him to try and be kinder to Henry and mess it up in his own Joey way). I want to know Henry's feelings about what he's going through. But most importantly, I would be putting Archie Carter, Evan, Buddy Lewek, Constance Gray, and/or Abby Lambert in this game. It doesn't have to be big, but for the love of all that is good and Bendy, PLEASE give us a book character cameo in this game, I beg of thee Meatly! We literally just had a book release involving a ton of Gent stuff, please give us an audiolog from one of these guys while going through the horrors of it, I would be SO HYPED for that!
5. What is your LEAST Favorite Character
This is the silliest thing, but there's only one Bendy character I actively dislike, and it's that puppet in the mop bucket from the prologue of BATDR. That thing creeps me out. I'm so sorry. ^^''''
6. smash or pass the ink demon
Neither, I'm extremely ace and not here for smashing, but I'm not passing up on interacting with him. I'm instead inviting him over for some cookies and hot cocoa.
7. Opinions on Bendy and the Dark Revival? this goes for gameplay, lore, characters, everything.
Already covered this one earlier, but to reiterate, I like it! I just wish we spent more time with the characters. I do have some issues with the way the story was handled. As much as I loved Chapter 4, I do kind of wish we got the reveal that Audrey was the daughter of Drew sooner, or at the very least, gave her more time/scenes to grapple with it. Because love the ending as I might, Joey's speech about her being born of darkness just, doesn't hit for me when she doesn't seem to feel that way about herself at any point? Like we see her struggle with it once and then never again, it needed some more build up and punch. But overall? I loved it. I loved this cast, I love the atmosphere and locations, I loved the expansion of the ink demon's character, Memory Joey was a hit despite doing some things that kind of lessen the horror of the previous game, and Twisted Alice, as nonsensical as her plan was, was such a treat, I was so glad to have her back and have her be such a menace. XD
8. Do you have high hopes for any new bendy games? (mainly Bendy - The Cage)
I have a reasonable level of optimism and curiosity! I'm sure it'll be an interesting entry. Curious how they'll handle more disturbing horror after how disturbing the last game was. I'm trying not to expect too much, going in with fewer expectations makes for a better experience for me personally.
9. How did you feel about BATIM's ending when it first came out?
Mostly confused, but really excited that Henry didn't die. X'''D No joke, when Chapter 5 first came out, I was so freaking anxious about what was gonna happen. A friend got on call and watched a playthrough with me so I didn't like lose my entire cool. X'''D Still one of my fondest memories in this fandom. The ending wasn't everything I hoped for, but I still appreciate it and the rest of Chapter 5 as a result of the experiences I had with friends during it.
10. looking back on it now, how do you feel about Chapter 3 of BATIM?
When the original came out, it needed some balance and bug testing badly. But in its current state? It's not as bad as people make it out to be, but it is tedious. I get so lost in it as someone who's directionally challenged, but like, -gestures at Malice- my GIRL! How can I not enjoy it at least a little when my queen is right there giving some of the best and most informative dialogue of any character in the game?
11. if you could change / improve ONE THING about Bendy and the ink machine (the singular game) , What would it be?
This is going to sound ridiculous, but I would want it to have some gyroscopic control on the Switch port. I'm sorry gamers, I don't know how you play games where you have to aim with the analog sticks, I can't do it, I'm so bad at it. X'''D I use motion controls for stuff like aiming my view in Splatoon, give me that as Henry and I will be unstoppable.
12. Opinions of MAlice Angel / Corrupted Susie Campbell?
She is everything, she is the moment, she is my beloved, and I want to bake for her and tell her she's beautiful, because she IS! She was such a fun antagonist and I want more of her backstory! Like she has been an enjoyable part of every game she's been in. Boris and the Dark Survival with the Milla Tapes? Underrated Alice moment, she was GREAT there.
13. Do you think Sammy dying, and THEN coming back was good or bad?
I don't think I can classify it as good or bad, but I did enjoy it! Like hey, ink creatures don't necessarily stay permanently dead, and they can have some really interesting mental things happening when reforming, that was cool world building! And then when we got to see under the mask, and he's ready to kill us? Oh MAN, oh that was a thrill. Would not trade that brief Sammy boss fight for anything, that's my GUY right there!
14. On a Scale of One to Ten, how convoluted do you thing Bendy's lore as of Present Day?
Eh, gonna roll with the devil's number and say a 6.6. It's not that bad. BATDR convoluted it more than BATIM did, and there are some book moments that puzzle me, but it overall? It's workable, and I only drive myself a tiny bit nuts over it (I say as I've been going "NOTHING IS TRUE THE CANON IS A LIE" for like two weeks trying to assemble a series timeline and classify ink creatures).
15. Opinions / on a scale of 1-10 on the Bendy Books?
Dreams Come to Life - 7/10, needed more clarity in parts, had some good moments with returning characters, Dot we love you, JACOB WE LOVE YOU
The Lost Ones - 7/10, was a little weird not seeing most of our studio cast and being so far removed from the studio itself, but it's an enjoyable read, really liked our new characters and swapping perspective, living for that Wally intro, and I have a lot of questions about what ink can do to your brain and Tom's mental state in 1946
Fade to Black - 9/10, by far my favorite, great balance of old and new, Joey Drew was DELIGHTFULLY UNHINGED (something something that's the Joey I knew), Rose was fun, Evan was fun, DOT HI I MISSED YOU, Archie Carter was THE BIGGEST SURPRISE and I ADORE HIM, never thought we'd get a YouTuber cameo audiolog character as a MAJOR PART of a book, Wilson was a treat, and the studio sections of this one destroy me, I love it love it love it
The Illusion of Living - 7/10, the greatest Joey Drew character study to ever exist, which is great but difficult to read when he jumps all over the place and rambles about who knows what for pages at a time, offered some really great moments that I can't imagine the series without, and it solidified my love of Abby, please give Abby a spot in the games, this book made it very clear she is important to the Joey and Henry backstory, and I am so frustrated that we have not referenced her ONCE in these games when she's one, the head of the art department, and two, the one with the braincell of this trio, also Detective Sinclair's murder mystery was fun, I didn't know I would enjoy that genre so much, also Sammy and Jack were GREAT in this book
Employee Handbook (the original) 6/10 - It's a game guide mostly, but I go back to this thing often since it's one of the few things in the series that ACTUALLY GIVES US DATES for when things happened.
16. Opinions / on a scale of 1-10 on the Crack up Comics?
Crack Up Comics is a solid 9/10 for me, it was genuinely fun to read. Sucks that so many comics got spoiled for me on Twitter (much like the ending of DCTL, still sore about that), but the art is really cute, there's a small bit of lore, and the characters are written in such a fun way. Bendy you little scamp, I love you. Hindsight being what it is, I'm still a bit sore there was no cameo appearance for Carley in this book, and I feel the same way about all the toons from this book not appearing anywhere in Dark Revival. What is the point of having fun cartoon characters if they're not at least making a small appearance on a wall poster or something? That is such a missed opportunity.
17. Best Toon Character? (Out of Bendy, Boris, and Alice)
Alice, by far. Don't get me wrong, I love Bendy and Boris too, but Alice has such a fun character, especially in the comics, I LOVED her.
17 (2). Best Butcher Gang Member? (toon)
Edgar. I've warmed up to Charley a lot over the years, but Edgar is my baby boy, I want to hold him and squeeze him and love him, he's so SWEET.
18. Not a question; but SHOW US YOUR / AN OC!! FEEL FREE TO LORE DUMP !!
So hiiii, this is my girl Bella Ewe, a young woman who got roped into Joey's shenanigans as an apprentice animator (after he accidentally broke her leg), and accidentally ends up in the cycle. She gets sacrificed by Sammy, ends up as a searcher that steadily evolves, he has regrets about it, and now with Jack, they're working as a trio called The Shepherds to try and help break the narrative that everyone's been forced to play a part in. Her dive ability allows her to plunge into the depths of the ink, where she talks to people to try and help them regain their humanity. She goes from timid and hopeless to fiery and surrounded by found family, and she is my beloved sheepy daughter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
19. Best Human Character? (Out of Henry, Joey, Audrey, Wilson)
Oooh, that's hard. I'm gonna have to say Joey. I love Henry and Audrey, but the two of them don't get a lot of characterization. Joey however, we get to know him throughout multiple stages of his life AND an inky memory of him, and all of them are such a fun time to explore.
19 (2). Best Human Character? (Out of Wally, Nathan, Sammy, and Bertrum)
Okay that's not fair. X'''D Sammy is my favorite, I love his human iteration just as much as I love his inky one, but Wally is also high up there. He's a fun comedic relief.
20. Best Inked Creature? (Out of the ink demon, Malice, Sammy, and Buddy Boris)
This also isn't fair, how dare you make me pick between my wife and my husband. X'''D But I'm gonna have to say Alice. She's got the more compelling story, but Sammy is also really good as our first introduction to what can happen to a human tainted by ink, he's the one that pulled me into liking Bendy in the first place.
20 (2). Best Inked Creature? (Out of Shipahoy Dudley, Lost Ones/Searchers, Allison, and Tom Boris)
This is hard, but I think I'm gonna say Searchers and Lost Ones. Back when BATIM Chapter 4 dropped, you know that part where that one Lost One goes "when can we go home" and then you open the door to see a room FULL OF THEM? Shivering and miserable? That broke me, I just kept whispering "I'm sorry" as we went through there. (Also Porter and Heidi are great, I hope we see them again someday.)
21. Whats the best ink demon variant?
BATDR, hands down. He is a much more intimidating monster, the voice gives me chills (thank you Sean), I can't get over his silly little hooves, he's great. Still love all the others though, they're good in their own ways.
22. The Better gloves? three lines or two dots?
I prefer the two dots for Bendy, but it doesn't really matter. Alice got infinitely cooler gloves, I'm sorry. X'''D
23. Did you prefer Wally being Boris, or Buddy being Boris?
I'm a Buddy Boris kind of gal. Buddy stole my heart in the books, and I love him a lot. That said, I think they both have merit, and I can appreciate fan content that explores both of these options. When the original game was in development, and Wally and Boris were the characters that were left, all the others we could make pretty reliable guesses about the fates on, so him being Boris was a process of elimination theory that people tried to justify with details like him knowing his way around the vent system. And it would have been so sad as a twist since his whole thing was "I'm outta here," him not getting out would be the unfortunate punchline. I get why it was popular, and like I said, I enjoy a number of fan works that use it. But I won't lie, it didn't ever feel like that was the canon for me, not enough information to back it up. I mean Buddy has a similar problem, but at least we know he's a Boris. Whether or not he's Henry's Boris friend is the inconclusive part. Regardless of canon, that's how I write him at least.
24. Did you like Joey being inky or the newer lore?
I'm not sure what this is asking, but I get the sense this has to do with the old theories about Joey being the Ink Demon vs. what we have now with Memory Joey and the human Joey being dead? I'm okay with it to be honest. Would I have liked Joey to be the big bad that also suffers as a monster for his crimes against his co-workers? Yes, that would be very satisfying. But I think in a lot of ways, his current lore can still be satisfying too. It's no secret that I have some mixed feelings about his slideshow presentation, but let's reiterate for anyone who doesn't know me, because I think it ties into this in an important way.
I struggle with the decision to change the lore for Henry and Allison, and it affects my feelings about Joey. Memory Joey is a great character, he's a Joey Drew that's trying to be a better person, and that's what I like about him. He's imperfect, because he's a Joey and Joey is far from perfect, he's going to make mistakes and botch things up, but he's trying. He cares about Audrey, he's trying to help her through the studio without overstepping the boundaries, because again, he's still figuring out this whole "being a better person" thing. And ultimately, that was what endeared me to him. You don't need to change the lore of the previous games to give Joey Drew a redemption arc. All we needed was Joey choosing to try and be better. It doesn't erase his sins and all the bad stuff he did along the way, it doesn't change how he treated people, it doesn't change the literal murder and chaos he caused, the lives he ruined. And it shouldn't. Redemption arcs aren't about a character being forgiven or given a pass, they're about a character choosing to be better regardless of how the world sees them, and that's what's SO POWERFUL about Memory Joey! Joey Drew in life was so concerned with how the world saw him at several stages, so much time is spent being stuck in the past, despite his insistence that he doesn't want to think about the past. And finally we have an iteration of him that has tried to move past what he was before, and I am SO PROUD OF HIM!
That was all we needed, we did not need Henry and Allison being clones to soften his crimes. That does not help with Joey's redemption arc, in some ways it kind of cheapens it for me. Instead it has caused more confusion on whether or not ink creatures require a soul, lessens the horror of the original BATIM for Henry's characterization, brings about SEVERAL questions about who is and isn't a clone now (looking at you Tom), and just like, it's been really weird when it comes to Joey's murder and victim count. Like, the guy has been responsible for multiple deaths in BATIM and the books, why are we deciding now that these two aren't part of that? Also the one note about the ink children that came before Audrey, that is also a can of worms and I'm very exhausted thinking about it.
Overall, I like Joey as he is now. As stated before, I think Fade to Black has some of the best Joey writing in the entire series (as does TIOL, even if it was a bit of a slog to get through). I like Memory Joey a lot, I mean I wouldn't have made a doll of him if I didn't. X'''D He's alright.
Thank you for these wonderful questions! You guys, if you made it to the end and wanna go engage with the original, here's the link one more time, just so you don't have to scroll to the top. XD Have fun.

☆ –– (chris evans, he/him, cis man) who is SAWYER CLARINGTON anyways? ew. you don’t know about HIM, we’ll bet you want to. they’re feeling 42 and RUNNING WITH HIS DOGS feels like a perfect night to them. rumor has it they’re FINICKY and OVERCRITICAL because they care, but they’re also INTELLIGENT and COMPASSIONATE in the best way. HE works to make a little money as an CO-OWNER OF SWEET NOTHING & BAKER. they’ve rented a place on cornelia street in the form of A BROWNSTONE. EVERMORE (A) & SWEET NOTHING (B) is the song they could dance to the beat of forevermore.
STATS !
birth name : sawyer jasper clarington nick name : baker boy birth date : june 13th sexuality: bisexual biromantic currently residing : brownstone 10 occupation : co-owner of sweet nothing/baker
family : james clarington (father), andrea clarington (mother), oliver clarington (adopted brother), elorie clarington (sister), maverick clarington (adopted brother), rosaline clarington (daughter) pets : two rescue dogs relationship status: married to liliana clarington notable past relationships: n/a
hair color : dark brown eye color : blue height : 6'2" noticeable scars: various knicks and cuts from baking piercings : n/a tattoos: lily and rose tattoo over his chest
HISTORY !
sawyer clarington's life starts on a warm summer morning. the light of his parents' life from the time he is born and the immediately favorite of the family. his life is easy, and he's not a fussy baby (much to his mother's relief). but the first four years of his life are lonely with only his parents to keep him company.
then comes elorie, a new addition to a family with so much love to give. sawyer takes his role as big brother very seriously and never lets el out his sight for too long. where ever his little sister goes, sawyer is happy to trail along.
then comes the adoption of oliver, another younger sibling for sawyer to look over. his parents are more than happy to have sawyer tag along in helping with his younger brother, even if he more reluctant to do so this time around.
sawyer starts playing football during his middle school years, loving the thrill of it all. it was something that was just his and his alone. he was great at it and eventually made the varsity team in high school.
then comes shay, the final sibling to complete the set. sawyer is 16, and his parents are seemingly always busy. so sawyer has to step up to the plate and help out more often. at first, sawyer is happy to do so but then realizes it means missing out on spending time with friends. but they're his younger siblings and they need him, so sawyer watches them when his parents can't.
everything changes when sawyer tears his acl, pcl, and mcl in his knee during a football game. he can suddenly no longer play football, barely able to make it out of the house to get through his senior year. he spends more and more time at home, his entire future suddenly turning to ash in front of him. he'd planned on riding out a football scholarship at whichever school would take him and suddenly that wasn't an option anymore.
so he watches his grandmother bake when she'd come over to help him watch his younger siblings. it's something that keeps his mind off everything and he gets a job at a local bakery helping out whenever he can. he also starts saving up for a place of his own, needing the space to just be. he tries to keep up with what is going on his sibling's life but it's a lot harder when they're not all under the same roof.
as soon as graduation hits, sawyer moves out of his parents house and into a small new york apartment on his own. he gets a job at a sweet nothing, starting off as nothing more than a cashier that some times gets to help bake things. it's there he meets liliana and immediately falls in love with her.
he slowly works his way up in the bakery, become an assistant at the same time he proposes to lili. he gets the job of baker just a few months after marrying lili, and gets the head baker job the day after lili tells him she's pregnant. sweet nothing and his little family are everything he needs in life.
when the old owner steps down and offers up ownership of the bakery to sawyer, he doesn't even hesitate to take it. then comes the brownstone, a big home for his family to live in. and then everything comes crashing down when his father announces he's sick. it takes everything in sawyer not to drop everything and move back home, but he wouldn't do that to lili or rosie.
when his father dies, it's overwhelming. a sense of grief that never goes away and sawyer buries himself in sweet nothing. the entire menu gets an overhaul.
then his mother gets sick and sawyer feels like the entire world is crumbling around him. sweet nothing gets a complete makeover and it's only rosie begging not to leave her friends that stops him from suggesting moving again. but if he can't move back home, he can bring his siblings to him. he offers up the spare bedrooms and is shocked when all his siblings slowly start piling up in them. together, they can grieve everything they've lost.
WANTED !
co-owner of sweet nothing: sweet nothing is sawyer's second child but he needs someone to help run it. he wants to spend more time with his family now that they're all under one roof again, and this muse is the way to do so. they were probably already a baker and had been for a while. friends: other parent friends (or friends through their kids), people who frequent sweet nothing and like sawyer, or brownstone neighbors that ended up being his friend. all the friends. fellow volunteers: sawyer adores dogs and probably spends a lot of time helping out at a local shelter. give him friends that met that way.

“Oh, Merlin, tell me, does THE LOYALIST get what she deserves?” She is in THE DEATH EATERS & CLOSED to finding out.“
name → bellatrix black pronouns → she/her identification → cis-female year of birth → september 1950 - september 1951 face claim → crystal reed blood status → pure-blood sexual orientation → up to applicant occupation → socialite amongst high society in wizarding london future information → wife of rodolphus lestrange
— she is best described as ;
A DEADLY WEAPON, SHARP as a KNIFE’S EDGE & as COOL as the STEEL. She is as VIOLENT as TSUNAMI but appears CONTROLLED like CALM WATERS. She is POISED for DANGER, ready for ATTACK, prepared to SHED her SKIN to MORPH into something NEW to add another CARD to her evergrowing HAND.
— her story starts with ;
tw: death
A tenacious young woman, Bellatrix possesses the ferocity of her father of CYGNUS BLACK [father] and the charm and bone structure of her mother DRUELLA BLACK [mother]. Raised with strict beliefs regarding blood purity, Bellatrix grew up believing her family were the elite in the wizarding world and strived to make them proud. Whilst NARCISSA BLACK [sibling] longed to find a handsome pure-blood prince like Druella and ANDROMEDA BLACK [sibling] wanted to be just like Cygnus and lock away the bad guys, she was different. The idea that a muggle-born could sit as the Minister of Magic was shocking to her, although a career in the Ministry sounded appealing, the idea of working alongside blood traitors made her blood curdle. Bellatrix enjoyed the attention that embracing their family rhetoric brought her, including from her very busy father. Cygnus was often at work, meaning gaining his ear was difficult. At dinner, Bellatrix would proudly announce what she had learned and her thoughts and ideas about the world, much to her mother’s embarrassment. Druella longed to have three well behaved daughters to make respectable marriages.
Her father encouraged them all to have their own minds beyond that, although even Bellatrix could tell that sometimes her overly aggressive need to give her opinion made even her father grimace, secretly scared she might blurt something out at a work party. Although she believed it with all her heart she was careful to choose private moments to make her opinions known, knowing to some they weren’t popular. Once at Hogwarts, Bellatrix tried to find those who would mirror her thoughts, though her tact as a young child was far from perfect. She established herself as the strongest character in her school, packing a punch with her wand and ensuring that mudblood and muggle-borns knew not to darken in her presence. CASTOR WILKES, [best friend], NATALIA SIMINOVA [close friend], RODOLPHUS LESTRANGE [friend] and ARISTAEUS GREENGRASS [friend] became her closest friends. Good pure-blood Slytherins who shared her thoughts and feelings. Other people like DOLORES UMBRIDGE [rival], were desperate to join the fun, but Bellatrix hadn’t decided how she felt about half-bloods, though she did know her feelings on the pathetic, so Dolores became an occasional target for good old fashioned schoolyard bullying, despite her thoughts on purity.
Bellatrix really came into her own, however, in her later years of Hogwarts, when she had younger pupils to follow her around and aid in her schemes. Her cousin EVAN ROSIER [cousin] joining really changed the game at Hogwarts, as did LUCIUS MALFOY [friend], DECIUS FLINT [friend] and ALFHILD ROWLE [close friend]. It was all school games until her final year, when her entire outlook changed. At her parents’ Yule Eve party she was sent to collect a bottle of her father’s best firewhiskey from his study, where she was approached by an older wizard she had not met before. He asked about her life at home, her friends at school and replied that she was destined for more than the schoolgirl antics. Later that evening her father would tell her she had a very special task, to return to school and seek out those like her, who could be persuaded to be more open in the right settings to speak on their way of thinking. Bellatrix knew that Evan, Castor and Alfhild were certainly just like her, as was Lucius; though she needed more time to be certain. She began telling a small circle about THE DARK LORD [leader/object of affection] and his rhetoric, which they were all too eager to learn more about.
About to leave school, she knew the key to success was to get into the minds of those younger. THORFINN ROWLE [friend] was quickly recruited and later RABASTAN LESTRANGE [close friend]. Only the very best could be entrusted at this stage, the numbers would come with trust. After leaving school, Bellatrix noticed her father began to intrust her with more responsibility, allowing her to know his personal thoughts and feelings, knowing now she could be discreet. With his blessing they decided it was best for Bellatrix not be brought out into society just yet. Her reputation as a bully at school had meant people had begun to look at her, which wasn’t helpful given their aims. Instead she stayed at home, studying families and identifying persons of interest, then passing owls to those still at school to carry out their aims. The Dark Lord visited often and then after a while, he began requesting Bellatrix come to him. Living in his residence where she could be at his beck and call, just where she liked it. The Dark Lord trusted her to build her own team to surround him. Evan became her right hand, with Rabastan becoming more and more valuable to her the older he became.
When the murders began happening of course she and her team were behind them, though no one would know. She’d been ‘travelling’, learning and growing. Bully Bellatrix was in the past, replaced by a polite yet stern society girl, though she still publicly ignored her blood traitor cousin SIRIUS BLACK [cousin/adversary]. The aim was to work in plain sight and recruit as many as possible. Some people didn’t listen to reason and measures had to be taken. Recruiting her younger cousin REGULUS BLACK [cousin] helped in this area as he worked for Wizengamot with Andromeda and Rodolphus, which meant burying evidence was easier. Recruitment was going well, which meant it was time to enact phase two of his plan, creating chaos within the Ministry. The plan was triggered early when her usually trustworthy protege Rabastan murdered the Minister’s son BOOKER BAGNOLD [person of interest] in cold blood on Halloween, but in hindsight it had been a blessing in disguise. The plan was clear. Make people believe there was a series of creature attacks, let the Ministry turn on them, recruit the people turning on the Ministry, recruit the creatures who feel put out.
SILAS CRUMP [victim] was a tragedy. Sent to Azkaban for Booker’s murder, when he could have simply joined the cause and leant his expertise and leadership to them, though they were fortunate enough to have come away with his daughter CORIN HALE [person of interest] to aid in recruitment. Bellatrix found that although she was able to carry out The Dark Lord’s plans, other people were constantly making stupid choices that impeded his mission. AMELIA BONES [victim] had to die because she’d come to suspect the truth about Booker. Summer Solstice 1983, she watched with poisoned smirk as a voice echoed that The Order's HQ had fallen and a prophecy they so needed was in hand. Fighting ensured, MARLENE MCKINNON [person of interest] crucioed ROSALINE DAVIS [person of interest] under the imperious and Bellatrix made off with the leg of ALASTOR MOODY [adversary]. Chaos was ensuing, but more was to come. Almost three years on from Amelia’s death, the Ministry needed to seem more unstable than ever. With her trusted follower CRISTIANO PARKINSON [close friend/potential love interest] handling The Dark Lord’s mission for locating special artefacts, Bellatrix can focus on the more important things. Starting 1986 off with a bang.
— she is a LEVEL 9 WITCH & readied for war ;

Aha hello it’s the nosy person again
(Sorry for asking so many questions, every time I send an ask, I think of like ten more, if I’m annoying you or something just let me know and I’ll stop)
If you haven’t guessed already, I have more questions again. It’s just the way you word things, Afton!! You make it all sound so mysterious. So you were a familiar once? Interesting. What was it like? What made you want to… well, transition to the goals you have now? According to your responses, it sounds like demons are just corrupted gods, existing to keep the world in a sort of balance. What kind of debt do you owe to… the Aberration? How did you even go about seeking him out? Also, how do you feel about being a demon that looks like an old decrepit rabbit? (I mean no insults by this, just my observations)
Why did you adopt kids? Why did you even go about having kids? You don’t really strike me as the type of demon that would want children to take care of. How do demons even have kids? All right, with (most) of the serious questions I have out of the way, how about some (two) questions about your preferences instead?
Who’s your least favorite god? Favorite? And those are all of my questions ahaha…. (I ask far too many I’m so sorry-)
Hello!
Before I bully Afton- ahem- ask our friendly rabbit to answer your questions: You're not annoying! Afton may make cranky comments, but those are purely the character. I've had lots of fun reading and answering your questions! You never have to worry about sending too many asks or asking too much. If it's something I can't answer for spoiler reasons, I will let you know! I'm honestly happy to answer most questions, so long as they're not just downright insults or bullying. I also try to keep the characters amiable, even if they're the antagonists.
"Oh boy. Here we go..."
The rabbit rose from the throne with a soft groan, making his way down the steps to pace absently.
"Yes, I was a familiar. I can't really tell you about my early years. I was a young rabbit and don't really remember much of the first twenty years or so. But I do recall the moon god. I adored them. We had a good bond. There was also Hermea- the familiar of the sun god. He was this great, golden bear. We were good friends. And his daughter, Charmea, was the reason I ended up deciding to foster a child in the first place... She was so bright. Eventually Hermea had a son, too. Fred'r." He half-smiled, recalling those simpler days.
"I think you ought to know how children are made," Afton mused. "The reason I adopted was because I had no love of my own to mother a child- so I adopted a young fox god... Redtail. He was a good kid, a god born from a legend, so he had no parents of his own. Redtail was always a bit rough around the edges. He was like me in that way, I suppose. Rushing forward with his heart on his sleeve."
"I did eventually have two children, but their mother and I weren't exactly in love, so I took them in and she left. My daughter, Elizabeth and younger son, Evan. They were human, like their mother. By this time I was well into my godhood, so it wasn't all that strange. Evan and Elizabeth never really got on with Redtail, since he was so much older. But I loved all of my children, regardless of what history will say about me."
The rabbit moved to one of the windows. He stared out into the darkness for a long time.
"...It was when Evan died that things shifted." He picked at some of the grime on the glass.
"We all know what happens when the gods die. Their stars remain and become new gods. Their consciousness rejoins the Mother Star, up in the heavens." He sighed, mangled ears dropping.
"But we're not really sure about humans. I mean- we understand decomposition. And sure, you could argue that a body returning to the soil is beautiful in its own right. But what about the mind? What about the soul of my son? Was that it? Was he gone forever?"
Violet light bubbled off of his skeletal hand as he clenched his fist.
"I didn't want to lose my son forever. He was still just a child."
Afton turned back to the tapestry handing just behind the throne. A red banner emblazoned with a glittering gold sun, tattered and ruined.
"I pleaded with the greater gods to find some way to undo it. They told me I was meddling in something I'd be better off leaving alone. I couldn't stand that thought. Even my former master told me that the only choice I had was to let go."
"But I didn't want to let go." The window beside him shattered as he slammed his fist against it.
"I poured myself into my research, and I confess I neglected all else. The humans began to pray for me less and less and I grew weaker. Older." Afton dragged his good hand down his face.
"...And then Elizabeth died, playing around in the ritual room of the temple. Ensnared by one of the very tools I'd created to try and understand how I might bring Evan back to us." Afton laughed bitterly.
"At that point, my oldest son left for the seas. He no longer wanted anything to do with me. And my good friend, Hermea, had lond since taken to wandering... I became desperate. When I again appealed to the greater gods, most of them shunned me. They told me I had only myself to blame... But the youngest of them. He took pity on me and told me a well-kept secret. He told me about the Aberration."
Cold white eyes bore into you. Afton seethed with a hatred that couldn't be fathomed.
"Do you know what corruption is? What it truly is?"
"It's not a disease or some sort of physical change. Corruption is what happens when a god makes a pact with the Aberration. It hasn't happened many times, but I'd take being forsaken by the Mother Star a hundred times over if it meant I could see my children again. I don't care how this body festers. I don't care what it costs."
"...As for what the Aberration asked of me... I'm afraid that I can't say. You'll know soon enough. Everyone will." He turned back to the ruined window.

Fall Fanfic Reads
Tumblr media
Inspired by the lovely @oneofthesirens a compilation of what I’ve been reading this season. I’ve made more of an effort to read published books but have still devoured some lengthy fics.
The Last Enemy Series by @chdarling
It’s 1975 and war is simmering beneath the surface of the Wizarding world...but at Hogwarts, it’s magic as usual as the fifth years prepare for their O.W.L.s amidst politics, pranks, and other poor choices.
Severus Snape wants to prove his worth. Lily Evans wants a fresh start. James Potter wants Lily Evans, though no one is more surprised by this than him. Sirius Black wants to write himself a new story. Remus Lupin wants to survive the next moon. Peter Pettigrew just wants to keep up.
But as tensions bubble over, sides will be chosen, friendships destroyed, families parted, and paths forever altered.
Pairing: James/Lily, also eventually Remus/Sirius
I recently got back into Marauders fanfic and I’ve now completely caught up on this two part series. It’s fantastic and I don’t have enough words to praise it. Reads like the prequel I always dreamed about. I may or may not have recommended it to my massage therapist when we talked about Harry Potter...
even the bones will do by @oneofthesirens
In the midst of a brutal war, Lily and James are betrayed by one of their best friends and manage to survive. Harry, still only a baby, is declared the Boy Who Lived, a child of the prophecy.
But Lily will tear the wizarding world apart before they use her son for their gain. Faced with an impossible choice, she leaves James behind, retreating to the Muggle world and her sister who she had almost given up on.
When James appears in her life once more, Lily has to decide between the relative safety of their Muggle existence and the man she still loves.
Or: Lily and Petunia raise Harry.
Pairing: James/Lily
I am so grateful I found this story and author! I am obsessed with hidden child fics and this has quickly become a top fave and it got me back into Jily after 10 plus years. If any of you enjoy Iris, read this! This story will crack your heart in half but you won’t care since the writing is so beautiful.
Chasing Life by @mppmaraudergirl
James Potter enjoys the simple life. That is, being a national Quidditch star, drinking profusely with his mates, and no-strings-attached companionship. At least until he meets a beautiful, clever redhead who is immune to his charms and uninterested in his talents. She just might also help him see there is more to this thing called life than perpetual, meaningless bachelorhood.
Pairing: James/Lily
Sat down to read one chapter before writing, and instead caught up in one siting. All the amazing slow burn goodness. Also adore James’s parents and Sirius and Remus in this.
In the middle of the night by @svalewayland
Hermione Greengrass is known for her intellect as well as her unparalleled ability to make a grown wizard tremble on the spot with just a raise of an eyebrow. The formidable witch is nothing if not self-assured. But when she and Potter are sent on an auror mission undercover as a married couple to a small Irish town, she is forced to re-evaluate everything she knows about him... and herself.
I had the privilege of being her test reader and I’m so excited it’s now starting to update! A unique idea of exploring Hermione as a character if she was raised as a pureblood. Also it’s fun to read an enemies to lovers in Harmony since it’s not often done. Her writing is gorgeous. Also James and Lily live! Sirius and Remus too, extra bonus!
Pairing: Harry/Hermione
We Were Born Sick by NuclearNik
When Harry and Hermione's first child is born, the joy they feel is dampened by the news they receive from the healers—their baby is plagued by an unknown ailment, likely a curse. Hermione will do anything to save her daughter. Even dabble in magic she'd be better off avoiding.
Pairing: Harry/Hermione
I  discovered this writer in September and immediately read all of her Harmony works. I am so in love with her writing style. The raw emotion in this story gets under your skin and you can feel Hermione’s desperation and love for her child.
Finding Jane by Delivermefromeve
This is, primarily, a tribute to that wonderful character, but seeing as I suddenly have this opportunity to enter this in the Elder Wand Competition (the deadline got extended, apparently), I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea. ^_^
If you're expecting a red-hot romance, it's not happening in this one-shot.
This was also inspired by all the Janes in Harry Potter. If you're a true-Harmonian, you'll know what that means
Pairing: Harry/Hermione
Not much of a summary from Portkey but Hermione is newly divorced from Ron and finds an old copy of the book Emma which sparks some discussions with her Mother. This is an old favorite I re-discovered. A lovely character study of Hermione...and Harry. I love the dialogue between Hermione and her mum about love and marriage. Epilogue compliant.
The Letter by @alexandra-emerson
You know what, Hermione? I’m never going to be able to win you over with words. You know how I want to win you over? When you walk into my house tonight I want to push you against the wall and snog the breath out of you. I want to taste you and feel you moan against my mouth. I want to vanish whatever you’re wearing and look at you standing naked in my hallway.
Hermione finds a letter from Harry she was never supposed to read. What now?
Pairing: Harry/Hermione
This was everything. Harmony angst mixed with Atonement vibes. YES!
On my TBR is her newest story which just finished In the Garden of Shadows is a spooky vibes Dramione which I’m excited to binge!
Hope this gives someone out there something to read!

“Masquerading as a man with a reason,
My charade is the event of the season,
And if I claim to be a wise man, well,
It surely means that I don't know...”
~“Carry On, My Wayward Son” by Kansas
x~x~x~x
written to Cornelius Fudge, Minister for Magic, July 1990
x~x~x~x
Cornelius, my old friend,
I’m sure this owl must come as something of a surprise. I have frequently been on the receiving side of an owl from you, but I realize I often neglect to send you as many in return. I know I’ll inevitably fail to match the regularity of your correspondence, but considering the frequency in you’ve called upon me for my insight, I hope that you will spare a portion of your time and patience to consider a very important matter.
The matter in question is a young man named Jacob Cromwell.
I know you’re aware of Charles Cromwell and his family, the Cromwell Clan. I know not if you’ve already received the news of Charles’ and other Clan members’ arrests. You may recall Jacob’s own unceremonious expulsion from Hogwarts, back in the fall of 1982. You might even recall the rumors circulated at the time of his supposed involvement in the death of Duncan Ashe and the disappearance of Olivia Green, as well as his possible alignment with Dark wizards and magical criminals, perhaps even Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Before you pass judgment on Jacob Cromwell, however, if you have not already, I implore you to let me make a proper case about how wrong I was to expel Jacob so long ago and why he should now be allowed to take his NEWTs next spring, so as to complete his Hogwarts education once and for all.
First, let me paint you a proper picture of Jacob’s upbringing. This is a boy who was raised entirely in the Muggle World despite having magical blood, since his mother -- Charles Cromwell’s third daughter, Lane -- ran away from a toxic, abusive family life in order to elope with Jacob’s father, a Muggle named Evan Bach. Jacob was born with extraordinary magical talent -- including a strong potential for Legilimency, which makes it incredibly easy for him to predict other people’s actions before they happen. He had so much talent, in fact, that his power was incredibly difficult to contain, even more so than the average magical child. In Jacob’s childhood alone, I am aware of over fifty known instances of underage magic registered by the Improper Use of Magic Office, prior to him attending Hogwarts. Because of Jacob’s father’s lack of magic, however, Jacob’s mother could tell neither him nor her son the truth about his abilities, and so Jacob was frequently punished both by his teachers and his own father, all supposedly for things he hadn’t done (or, at least, had no control over). It was only his mother and his little sister, Carewyn, who truly understood Jacob: Carewyn especially, since even if she was only a toddler, she was born with the same powerful Legilimency potential that Jacob was -- and so the two forged a powerful connection the likes of which I have never seen. When Jacob received his Hogwarts letter, he finally learned the truth about his abilities, but the revelation prompted his father to abandon his family, never to return. From that point on, Jacob was solidly the man of the house and -- one can surmise -- was determined to succeed in school and take care of his family, whatever it took.
Now that you have a picture in your mind of Jacob’s modest, but promising origins, allow me to bolster this image with a first-hand testimonial of his academic brilliance. Were you to take the time to write to any of the professors who taught Jacob, they would undoubtedly all agree with me that he’s easily one of the most talented students Hogwarts has ever seen. Jacob’s Head of House, Filius Flitwick, has frequently cited Jacob’s talent for Charms. My Care of Magical Creatures professor, Silvanus Kettleburn, very frequently would have Jacob help him handle dangerous creatures like chimaeras and matagots, even in his early years. Previous Potionsmaster Horace Slughorn said at one point he could see Jacob creating the next Wolfsbane Potion, with his genius intellect and gift for Potions. According to my Deputy Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall, Jacob memorized the Transfiguration alphabet before even starting at school, and I’ve seen him use Switching Spells expertly on himself, switching effortlessly with stationary objects close by so as to “Apparate” around his opponent. Several of my other professors have even said in the past that Jacob’s intelligent enough that he could be an excellent teacher himself someday. He scored O’s on every one of his OWLs with very little effort -- even Abraham Tofty pulled me aside to remark how impressed he was by Jacob’s interest in integrating the principles of Muggle chemistry to Potioneering. Overall, if things had been different, Jacob Cromwell would certainly have graduated top of his class in all fields and would today have undoubtedly risen to a position of great respect in the Wizarding World.
So why, you ask, was Jacob Cromwell expelled? This answer will perhaps take the most explanation, Cornelius, so I hope you will indulge me.
While at school, Jacob -- along with two of his classmates, Olivia Green and Duncan Ashe -- had taken on the burden of dealing with Hogwarts’s lost Cursed Vaults, the defenses of which had deteriorated to the point that their curses were targeting the school’s students. The teachers and I both hypothesized that the Cursed Vaults were acting up in response to Voldemort’s rising power -- a hypothesis that I regret to say we fancied a lot longer than we should have, since it ultimately was incorrect -- and Jacob and his friends stepped up to deal with this threat that came from within, while the adults around them were so on-guard about the wolves outside clamoring at our gates. By 1981, Jacob, Duncan and Olivia had already broken the curses on two of the five Vaults. That year, the three students found and entered the final Cursed Vault under the Black Lake, with the thought process that if they passed over the decoys to get at the only true Vault, they could find the treasure within and, in doing so, break all of the curses at once. This thought process unfortunately turned out to be incorrect, and the Sunken Vault -- so as to protect itself -- petrified Olivia Green, turning her to stone. Jacob and Duncan only barely made it out unscathed.
The fate that had befallen his friend, however, only heightened Jacob’s urgency. The only way to save Olivia now was to break all of the Vaults’ curses in the correct order, and so Jacob and Duncan set about doing so. Unfortunately Jacob wasn’t the only person with his eyes on the Cursed Vaults. When Jacob, Duncan, and Olivia first started investigating the Cursed Vaults, they were contacted by a mysterious entity solely called “R,” who threatened them to stay away from them. Apparently the treasure within the Vaults and the immense magical power it would bestow upon the wielder was “theirs” for the taking, and they would not take kindly to anyone getting in their way. Rather than these notes deterring them, however, Jacob, Duncan, and Olivia decided that they had to do something now, if this dark shadow wanted to steal the treasure inside the Vaults and use its power for their own selfish purposes. Little did Jacob know that R -- or, more appropriately, a certain member of R -- had calculated that he and his friends were noble enough to make that exact conclusion, and that that decision would play right into their hands.
You will recall, of course, that I said that Jacob’s mother was the third child of Charles Cromwell, I hope. Well, this is where that knowledge becomes relevant -- for Charles was a high-ranking member of the criminal organization known as R when Jacob first sought out the Vaults, and before long, he’d supplanted the previous Leader and taken it over, with the main goal of not only securing power for himself, but also using that power to reestablish control over what he had lost: namely, his daughter Lane and her two children, Jacob and Carewyn. And so, after R had threatened his sister’s life, Jacob was forced to join R against his will, in a misguided attempt to protect his mother and sister from harm. It was for this reason that Duncan -- thinking to put some distance between R and Jacob -- used his own talent for Potions and tried to give R something valuable to deal with the threat inside the next Vault (a Portrait Vault, as it so happens). It was in this attempt to shield Jacob from the criminal syndicate that had him in their cross-hairs that Duncan tragically lost his life and was doomed to haunt a bathroom in our castle as a ghost for the next eight years, before he finally found some rest.
It was not long after Duncan’s fatal injury that Jacob returned to school after having completed his first real mission for R, and I immediately summoned him to my office. That meeting ended with me expelling Jacob from Hogwarts -- for I had no concept at that time of just who was part of this organization he had joined, and therefore now had access to Hogwarts castle through the cursed mark now burned into Jacob’s skin. That mark’s magic -- so akin to the Dark Mark, even if it was invisible to the naked eye -- could potentially give someone the power to torture or even control the person branded with it, so long as the person who cast it had access to a wand. And that person was the leader of R -- a man who I didn’t know at the time was Charles Cromwell.
As much as I knew Jacob would never have willingly harmed anyone, thanks to the alignment he’d been coerced to choosing, he was now a pawn of R...and at that time, when Voldemort had disappeared so suddenly without any explanation and his supporters were still being rounded up and tried, I rationalized that I couldn’t put Jacob’s well-being over those of the rest of my students. Not long afterward, Jacob found and tried to break the curse on the Portrait Vault, only for the Vault’s curse to activate to protect itself, trapping Jacob in one of its many portraits. The poor seventeen-year-old boy would remain in that portrait for the next seven years, until his younger sister Carewyn -- with help from both her friends and her aforementioned Legilimency that connected her mind with Jacob’s -- finally was able to find and free him. And it is thanks to Carewyn, Jacob, and the friends Carewyn made during her own time at school that Charles Cromwell is now imprisoned and wandless, and that the possible hold he had over Jacob is now once and for all severed.
As much as I will acknowledge there were no good choices when it came to dealing with Jacob’s forced servitude to R, the choice I made is one I think I shall regret for the rest of my life. I cannot know if allowing Jacob to remain at Hogwarts would’ve hindered him from reaching out to Patricia Rakepick -- at that time a loyal servant of R herself -- rather than to me or any other member of the school staff who could’ve actually helped him break free. I cannot know whether Jacob would’ve chosen to stay in line with R longer, had Duncan not died so tragically and he not lost all chance for the future he’d wanted. I cannot know if any of this could’ve been prevented had I simply put all the pieces together sooner, nor if more mistakes could’ve been averted had I been upfront with Carewyn Cromwell, when she asked me back in her very first year why I expelled her brother. I am old and wise enough of a man, however, to know that one can’t go back in time and change the past, merely attempt to make up for mistakes made -- and so I ask for your help, old friend, in helping me rectify this one. The Ministry of Magic sends examiners to Hogwarts to test outgoing seventh years for their NEWTs -- a series of tests that formally puts a seal on one’s time at Hogwarts and lines each student up for future success, in the outside world. Although yes, Jacob has not completed his seventh year at Hogwarts, I do believe were he to study and take those exams with my seventh year class this upcoming spring, he would pass with flying colors. Such validation from the Ministry, even despite his past record, would give Jacob a clean slate to start his life over, after the trauma he’s undergone in the face of evils he could not have foreseen or defeated alone. Furthermore, I think Jacob’s courage and selflessness in fighting to protect both Hogwarts and his family from the likes of Charles Cromwell and R -- even at great personal risk to himself -- is something that should not be overlooked.
I hope for an expedited letter of approval, on your part. After how long Jacob has already had to wait, I would hate to make him do much more of it -- especially when he could instead be contributing to our society the way he so clearly can and so desperately wishes to.
