You breathed in the freshly brewed coffee smell as you tiredly stepped inside your favorite coffee shop with your tote and laptop bags slung over your shoulders.
When you couldn’t find any empty cabs, you decided to walk, but you didn’t think how tiring it would be to your already exhausted body. You were cursing yourself for wearing pencil skirt and heels today, knowing fully well that you would have some weight to carry around all day. It seemed like a good idea in the morning, but you should have known better to trust your own judgement in the mornings.
You groaned as you placed your bags on the table, breathing out a relieved and pained sound all in one. You rubbed your shoulders, trying to ease the pain, but you knew only a warm bath and hot press would ease the real pain in them. You closed your eyes and rested your forehead against the cool surface of the table.
Your legs were throbbing, your heels were numb at this point, and your stomach was grunting at you to give something to eat for the past two hours. You sighed. If you had even a little bit energy, you’d have already gone up and got yourself a coffee and a sandwich, no, a muffin. You were drained, though, so you opted out from the moving option. You could rest here a bit before you forced yourself to walk over the register.
So, you sighed again but deeply and tried to relax all the muscles in your body. A little break would do you good, you knew that.
You see, Bucky was lucky when he decided to be a good boy, and lately he had been the best. As a result, the universe was blessing him with the coincidence of coming across to you on his day off every week.
There was this voice that kept telling him to go out, to get coffee and treat himself ever since he woke up that morning. He almost didn’t listen to it, almost chose to stay in and under his thick duvet with his baby, Alpine, but he was so damn grateful that he indeed listened to that voice and went out.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to see you.
No matter how tired, sleepy and dead on your feet you looked, you were so pretty.
Bucky was kind of worried, though.
“May I take your order?” The girl at the register, Wanda, her name tag said, asked him gently. Bucky blinked and took his eyes away from you although he couldn’t help but sneak another glance: You were sitting at a table with your heavy-looking bags scattered on the large surface while your forehead rested on the table. “She overworks, no matter what we tell her, she does.”
Bucky blinked again and looked at Wanda. “She does this all the time?” Wanda nodded. “She looks like… she’ll sleep there if you let her.” Wanda smiled a little.
“Nothing she didn’t do before,” she murmured. “We told her not to pull any extra shifts if she didn’t have to, but she…” Wanda sighed. “She doesn’t listen. So, we try to get her blood sugar up and make sure she’s at home safely on these sorts of days.” Bucky frowned as his worry grew.
“Blood sugar up?”
“Yeah, her looking like that means she probably didn’t eat anything either since breakfast or lunch,” Wanda explained. Then, her green eyes observed you resting on the table carefully for a couple seconds. “It’s most likely the formal today.”
“Breakfast?” Bucky asked incredulously. Wanda shrugged. “Oh my God,” Bucky whispered and shook his head. “Alright. I’ll, uh, I’ll get a vanilla late, grande. A good ole tea for her, whatever size she prefers usually, and a muffin.”
Wanda hid her smile as she wrote down the orders, preparing the cups. It was nice to see that her friend had this charming, handsome admirer who jumped at the first chance to take care of her. “Anything else?”
“Um, can you add a sandwich into the mix?” Bucky asked. “But, like, cut it in half?” Wanda nodded slowly and added the order. She told him the total, and Bucky quickly paid it. Pietro called out for the orders and placed the muffin and sandwich on a small tray. Bucky thanked him and walked towards the empty table right next to yours.
“Hey,” he called out softly, careful not to cause you flinch. You breathed in sharply and lifted your head. Bucky saw the mark the table left on your forehead, he grimaced lightly. “Hey, welcome back.” You groaned and rubbed your eyes, forgetting that you had mascara on. Bucky went back to the register and asked for a wet wipe which Wanda handed him happily. He thanked her.
“There you go,” he murmured. You looked at the wet wipe Bucky had in his hand, and then looked up at him blankly. Bucky frowned. His worry was visible in his pretty blue eyes. He reached out. “May I?” He asked, and you nodded, feeling dumb and sleepy still. Bucky’s free hand took a hold of your chin, his grip very gentle and hand very warm and smooth, while his other hand slowly wiped the smeared mascara around your eyes. After he was done, he pulled back.
He grabbed the tray and put your tea and muffin in front of you. “Why don’t you eat something?” He said. “Tea will warm you up, and muffin will give you some energy.” You yawned, hiding your mouth behind your hand. Grabbing the big cup full of tea, you sipped it. Your eyes closed as you hummed and took a couple more sips from your tea. “Good, yeah?” You nodded. Bucky pushed the muffin towards you. “Eat a little bit of this, and I’m gonna give you a sandwich.” You placed your cup down, fingers found the muffin and tore it apart gently. You popped a small bite into your mouth, softly moaning at the taste. Your stomach grumbled. Bucky grinned.
“We’ll quite it down, don’t worry,” he murmured, winking playfully. “Eat some more.” You did. You plucked small bites from your muffin, almost inhaling the half of it under a minute, when Bucky placed a half-sandwich in front of you. “Want me to cut it into smaller parts?” He asked you, and you shook your head. “Alright.”
You swallowed your muffin and washed it away with a big sip from your tea. “Aren’t you eating?” You asked him. Even your voice sounded tired, and Bucky did not like that at all.
“I am,” he answered you, showing the other half of the sandwich. You nodded. Pushing the rest of the muffin towards him. Bucky raised a brow.
“’s only fair,” you mumbled before biting down your sandwich. You hummed as you ate it, sipping your tea occasionally. You watched Bucky munching on his own sandwich, saw him drinking his coffee and licking his lips.
Your sleepy self was waking up, albeit slowly, but you were utterly thankful for the sugar and some food he brought. You were still tired, your legs still throbbed and heels and shoulders ached, but you felt better than when you first walked in. It meant a lot. Especially when you thought about all the time you were going to spend going home. You made a soft whining noise, but it got lost in to the sound of blender.
“How do you feel?” Bucky asked. You wiped your mouth, finishing your tea.
“Good,” you said. “Better than before.” Then, you frowned slightly. “Still exhausted, though.” Bucky made a soft, broken sound. He wished terribly that he had come here with his bike or his dad’s car. That way, he could have given you a ride instead letting you slave away in a cab or subway.
“Good,” he muttered. His phone beeped. Sneaking a peek, he saw his mother asking him if he could come home a bit earlier. He tried not to frown. It wasn’t everyday his mother asked stuff from him, so he did not get to whine. “Is there anything I can do?” He asked. You shook your head.
“No, thank you,” you murmured. “I’ll probably have another tea and go home.” You took a deep breath and looked at him. “Thank you for the food and tea.” He shrugged. A shy smile formed on his full lips.
“Anytime,” he whispered. Your heart fluttered like it did back at the park. You cleared your throat. Bucky blinked. “I, uh, I have to go. My mom, she needs me.” He stood up and grabbed his half-full coffee cup. “Please be careful, okay?” You nodded, ignoring your heart’s reaction to his words with your whole will.
“Yeah,” you said. He smiled and sent you a small wave. You waved at him back. As he walked away from you, you slumped on your seat. Closing your eyes as you waited for food to do its job.
You didn’t see him placing a flower into the inner pocket of your jacket with a small note. You didn’t notice it until you came home, actually, since you opted out of wearing your coat because you decided taking a cab.
When you did notice, though, your face split up into a huge smile. All your exhaustion and throbbing limbs were forgotten with a beautiful daffodil bouquet and a small note that said: “You looked very tired and sad, for some reason that I do not know. Hope this will cheer you up and put a smile on your face. Your smile is beautiful.”

meow
A faint wail traveled through the back alley Bucky just passed. He stopped in his tracks, the wet tar under his boots crunching when he turned to the source.
Then, the clatter of metal bins and another small noise. His stealth mode was activated, back pressed to the brick wall to his right. Only the noise of his jacket scraping the stones hushed over the cars speeding through puddles on the road.
His hand traveled to his belt, his mind rattling with all the ways he could utilize his clothes as weapons, since he wasn't wearing any actual ones.
The rustling of plastic bags echoed in his ears. Bucky was tense, but before he knew it, a white, agile ball of fur sprung to his feet.
Bucky flinched, he would never tell anyone that, but he did.
"What are you doing here, buddy?" The brunette's voice was unusually soft, but the big blue eyes staring up at him through the streetlight hues did that to him.
He crouched down to scratch the feline animal, who willingly wound around his hands with a satisfied purr. It also eased the tension in his shoulders - strange, no, actually... nice.
"You really startled me there…" He spoke softly. His flesh fingers felt for a collar, the cat still purring in his warm touch.
"What's your name, huh?" He checked one more time, but there was nothing. It was a stray.
After a little while, Bucky got up from the floor to make his way home again. He felt sad, though, and the meowing in his ears didn’t make it easier. It almost felt broken, as if it was actually telling him something.
He didn't get really far. The white cat had found its way back to his legs, circling his feet and brushing up to him, playing with his laces and purring again. His heart grew heavy when he took her and sat her aside again, feeling how thin the animal was beneath the fur.
He kept walking, and the cat stayed put this time. But it meowed again, and Bucky stopped - again, looking back with a sigh.
"Okay. You can come with me." As if the cat could actually understand him, it began moving and walked up to him, following him through the streets of Brooklyn. Bucky looked down every few steps for the first two minutes of walking - a warm smile etching in the corners of his lips, but when he turned the corner to his apartment, the cat was gone. He couldn't deny that he was a little disappointed, though it was probably better that way.
He shook his head, chuckling. What a silly thought that had been. The keys rattled in his hand when he turned them in the lock, and then he felt the small weight against his shins again.
"I knew you'd come back," he whispered down to his feet. A little excitement spread in his chest as his smile returned.
"Let's get you something to eat." He picked up the cat, and it snuggled against his cheek, meowing and purring delightedly. Bucky’s heart picked up in pace at the immediate trust of the animal. It was nice to have something not be scared of him for a change.
Not even five minutes later, the animal was placed on his kitchen counter, happily eating a piece of ham. Bucky bit his lip as his hand stroked the soft white fur on her back.
"I think I'm gonna call you Alpine." The cat looked up, her eyes big and another meow sounding in response.
"Welcome home, pretty girl."

Mythological animals that I think should be used for Arknights character designs
I posted this on Reddit, might as well post it here too.
Arknights has a lot of myth-inspired characters already beside the obvious dragons, angels and devils: We have Pegasi (the Nearl family), Griffins (Archetto). Hippogryph (Hellagur), Phoenixes (Fiammetta), Kukulkán (Ho'olheyak), Cerberus (Ceobe), Typhon (well... Typhon)... you get the picture.
So... why not add some more mythical animal-inspired designs? Here are some that I think would be awesome to have in the game.
Cadejo:
Tumblr media
What they are: The Cadejo (Spanish pronunciation: [kaˈðexo]) is a supernatural spirit that appears as a dog-shaped creature with blue eyes when it's calm and red eyes when it's attacking. It roams isolated roads at night, according to Central American folklore of indigenous origin. In some variations of the myth, there is a good white cadejo and an evil black cadejo. Both are spirits that appear at night to travelers: the white cadejo protects them from harm and danger during their journey, while the black cadejo (sometimes an incarnation of the devil) tries to kill them.
What I think would be cool: A Perro Dollkeeper that switches between "white" and "black" mode in battle, giving some really nice flavor to the "doll" mechanic. Bonus point if HG goes the Archetto/Ho'olheyak route and give them Sarkaz or Caprinae horns while still having them be of Perro race, as lots of Cadejo artwork represents them with goat horns and/or hooves in line with the whole devil aspect of the legend.
Kamaitachi:
Tumblr media
What they are: Kamaitachi (鎌鼬) is a Japanese yōkai often told about in the Kōshin'etsu region. They appear riding on dust devils and they cut people using the nails on both their hands that are like sickles. One would receive a sharp, painless wound. The name is a combination of the words "itachi" meaning weasel, and "kama" meaning sickle. In the Musashi region and Kanagawa Prefecture, they are called "kamakaze" (鎌風, "wind sickle"), and in the Shizuoka Prefecture they are called "akuzen-kaze" (悪旋風, "evil whirlwind").
What I think would be cool: Seriously, why do we not have an Anaty operator based on these guys yet? Why wasn't Shirayuki one? It is not like Arknights has not based characters on yōkai before (Suzuran and Utage immediately come to mind), so where's our sickle weasel at?
Tatzelwurm:
Tumblr media
What they are: In the folklore of the Alpine region of south-central Europe, the Tatzelwurm, Stollenwurm, or Stollwurm is a lizard-like creature, often described as having the face of a cat, with a serpent-like body which may be slender or stubby, with four short legs or two forelegs and no hindlegs. The creature is sometimes said to be venomous, or to attack with poisonous breath, and to make a high-pitched or hissing sound. Anecdotes describing encounters with the creature or briefly described lore about them can be found in several areas of Europe, including the Austrian, Bavarian, French, Italian and Swiss Alps. It has several other regional names, including Bergstutz, Springwurm, Praatzelwurm, and in French, arassas.
What I think would be cool: ...okay, I will be honest, I just find the idea of a lizard or serpent-tailed catgirl or catboy really cute (Bonus points if they have cute venomous little fangs). Yes, the idea of putting serpent tails were you wouldn't expect to find them has already been used for both Utage and Ho'olheyak, but not only are both of those examples also based on mythology (The Nue for Utage, Kukulkan/Quetzalcoatl for Ho'olheyak), but their designs also seem to be decently popular with the fandom, so why not repeat the formula?
Simurgh:
Tumblr media
What they are: The simurgh (/sɪˈmɜːrɡ/; Persian: سیمرغ, also spelled simorgh, simorg, simurg, simoorg, simorq or simourv) is a benevolent, mythical bird in Persian mythology and literature. The Simurgh is depicted in Iranian art as a winged creature in the shape of a bird, gigantic enough to carry off an elephant or a whale. It appears as a peacock with the head of a dog and the claws of a lion – sometimes, however, also with a human face.
What I think would be cool: As with the Tatzelwurm, I just want to see what HG could design based on this. There's no doubt in my mind that such a character would have to be a Liberi, just like Ho'olheyak, Archetto and Hellagur before it. I want HG to give us what initially seems like a new Perro or Lupo waifu, fluffy wolf/dog ears and tail, with just a easily missable peacock feather on her hair to foreshadow her true inspiration... and then when the character actually comes out they reveal her as a Liberi seemingly out of nowhere, big majestic Simurgh on her E2 art background, all Lupoknights players utterly jebaited. Let's keep this trend of weird Liberi going, please!

15 questions for 15 mutuals
Suprisingly, a bunch of moots tagged me to participate in this little game while I was gone and I couldn't be happier!
Thank you so much @s4sharkteeth , @ezra-trait , @igotsnothing , @salemsimss , @adoringsentiment , @lilamausmaus , @alpine-lapine , @itsmariejanel and @red-simulation. I love these things!
are you named after anyone? Not that I know of? I think my parents just wanted me to have an uncommon name back then. There are plenty of Vanessas where I live at the moment though 😅
when was the last time you cried? Two days ago. I was watching "The Whale" and ended up gross sobbing towards the end.
do you have kids? Nope. And I don't think I ever will.
do you use sarcasm a lot? Sometimes. I wouldn't say a lot though. To be honest it depends on how moody I am.
what sports do you play/have you played? I used to do Gymnastics and Swimming when I was a kid, then I moved and had to quit. I also practiced Karate, Fencing and took dancing classes in my teens. Right now, I don't do any sports, but I still hit the gym quite frequently.
what’s the first thing you notice about other people? I'd say the way they carry themselves. Maybe their tone of speech as well? While I don't like to judge when meeting someone new, there are a couple of actions and mannerisms that just sound the alarms in my head.
eye colour? Greyish blue. Fun fact, they're actually quite rare in my family, with two more relatives having them currently.
scary movies or happy endings? Scary movies all the way! Scary anything, to be honest.
any special talents? I wouldn't exactly consider it a talent, but I can bend the tip of my thumbs (so first knuckle up) all the way back. I literally can't 👍 without them bending back a little bit more than the average person and freaking my friends out.
where were you born? Lisbon, Portugal!
what are your hobbies? Cosplay, gaming, writing and reading.
do you have any pets? Yes! A 14 year old dog named Kiro and a 2 year old cockatiel named Venti. I also have a few Guppies in a nicely sized fish tank.
how tall are you? 164cm (5'4'')
fave subject in school? Any language subject, psychology and history!
dream job? It took me a while to figure it out, but I'd absolutely love to be an Exotic Vet! Currently studying to become one! In the meantime, I work for a social media platform I quickly grew to absolutely despise 🙃
Tagging @hamasutaa , @simarcana and @trappedwell if you haven't done it yet. If you have or don't feel like done it feel free to ignore this!

James 'Bucky' Barnes x Reader Imagine - Knocked Down
You were just getting home after a long day at work, and also having stopped on the way home to get some shopping, as your fridge was looking a little bare at the moment.
So as you were about to open the door to your apartment, you could hear a commotion but wasn't paying attention as you just wanted to get inside and relax, but the universe had another idea, as you were tackled to the ground, with your food now over the floor.
Opening your eyes you stared in to in a pair of blue eyes and face, that you knew too well by now.
While laying on the ground you said 'when I said wanted to be swept off my feet this wasn't what I meant' to what ever deity was listening, before saying with a groan 'Oi Barnes do you want to get off me now, you're heavy' as he wasn't getting off you and kind of crushing you a little
Once you said that, he was off you and holding his hand out to you, which you happily took, as he pull you to your feet and apologised, as you looked at the your on the food.
You heard someone, it sounded a lot like Barton, call Barnes name and you shooed him away, told him to go and save the city, and then watched he left, calling out to Barton for his location.
When all the fallen food had been picked up, you entered the apartment and was greeted by your black cat, rubbing herself around your legs. The other cat that was your partner seemed to be napping somewhere, so left them be for the moment.
Entering the kitchen, you began to put away the food away you have brought, and then started to make a proper list of food and other household items that was need.
Putting the Tv on, you turned it to the news channel, listening to the updates about the Avengers current battle. You did wince when you heard Stark was getting thrown around like ragdoll, he was gonna be feeling that tomorrow.
After getting changed out of your work clothes and into loungewear, you grabbed yourself a can of soda from on the fridge as you sat down on the couch, watching the news trying to spot all the Avengers.
You started working on dinner, just a simple dinner of pasta with chicken and some vegetables, in the pot with some sauce that you added some chill to just give it a little kick.
Once dinner was cooked, you poured yourself a glass of wine, then went back to the couch with your drink and dinner. Upon seeing that the battle had finished, you changed the channel to some nature documentary.
It was about hour and half later when you heard the front door unlock and heard your partner called out to you. As soon as they spoke, a white flash was suddenly came spiriting out.
Standing from the couch and making your way into the kitchen, telling them that pasta was dinner tonight, as you turned the stove on, and mentioned that there was beer in the fridge, they wanted one.
While at the stove, focusing on the pasta, you were unware of the impending doom until it was too late, when a cold metal palm was placed on your nice and toasty warm back, making you jump and cry out, at the sudden change in the temperature.
You jumped away and turned to glare, with your finger pointing at at them, before telling them off by saying 'Just cause you saved the city, doesn't mean I won't make you sleep on the couch, Barnes'
Hearing that, made him laugh as he held his hands up in defeat as he back away, before reaching down and began stroking Alpine under her chin, and watched you from the corner of his eye, before moving into the living-room.
Grabbing a bowl from the cupboard you filled it full of the pasta and brought it out to Bucky, who was now relaxing on the couch with both cats laying on him, as they were both getting stroking behind their ears.
After handing the bowl to him, letting him eat his dinner in peace, while you were trying to stop your cat from eat stealing any of it, as her bowl was fill with food.
Once Bucky was with finished you curled into his side, to enjoying the rest of the evening together.
While watching the Tv, you asked him if he beat Barton today, or if he was down by 1 now, he just gave a little grumble and then said it was a draw, as they were still on the same number of points.
You gave a chuckle while reaching up and kissing his cheek, saying he'll beat Barton next time.

The Definition of Nice
new fic! for the prompt "bicycle"
winteriron, meet-cute, Bucky has PTSD, low self-esteem and needs a hug, gets a cat and Tony! modern au, awkward flirting
The thing is, Bucky’s not a good person.  All this bringing in strays business is insignificant.
read below or on AO3
The thing is, Bucky’s not a good person.
He’s grumpy. He’s antisocial. He barely spends any time with his friends, and when he does, he’s not being very good to them. Forgets the important stuff, rushes out in the middle of a conversation, all that.
His therapist would say something about trauma if she heard him. That’s — partly — why he ditched her so many times recently — and see? Not very good of him.
Combine that with too-long hair, a resting murder face, and a missing arm, and you got yourself a proper image of the guy your parents warned you about when you were a kid.
Bucky’s fine with it. Doesn’t make sense to get upset with the truth.
So it doesn’t really mean anything that when he sees a street cat going around his house one morning, looking mournful and distressed and all the other synonyms to sad, he goes out and feeds it. He might not be nice, but he’s not absolutely horrible. And everyone likes cats.
The cat seems a bit afraid of Bucky at first, but after seeing the fancy bowl with half of his dinner it comes around and gets through the food in no time. It seems dirtier up close — its long white fur, matted and wet in places, is blackened at the ends. Bucky tries to pet it, but it runs away. Not that he blames it.
The cat comes back the next day. Still doesn’t let Bucky too close, but lies in the sun, tummy exposed, in his backyard, after he feeds her. It is her , he knows now. She’s got blue eyes. The dirt’s still all over her fur.
Then she comes again. And again, and again. Bucky buys cat food. She likes the chicken-flavored one more than the fish one. Bucky doesn’t think there’s too much chicken or fish in those packets, but it’s probably more balanced than yesterday's pizza, which is sometimes the peak of human food he has in the house.
The cat lets him pet her in a week.
Three days after that he’s having a bad day. Well, maybe not that bad. Bucky had his share of those ones for sure, and this is nothing like them. He remembers them.
That’s what he’s doing, really: remembering them. Also: lays in his bed, with no will to get up, feeling pity for himself. Great time.
From experience he knows that it’s stupid to expect anything from himself on a day like this. He won’t go up, he won’t do anything, go anywhere. Just lays down here, closing his eyes, phantom pain too strong to remember what year it is (where is he, that he’s safe, he’s home, he’s out).
But today is different, for today Bucky remembers the bloody cat. And it’s — it’s not like he cares about her, or he’s a nice person, or other bullshit like this. He just knows how it sucks when your life’s pretty shitty, and the only good thing last is suddenly less predictable than you thought. So he gets up. He finds the cat food and a bowl. He goes out in his boxers only — thank fucking God it’s warm — and puts the food down under the annoyed sounds of the waiting cat.
Bucky sits on the pouch and looks at her eat. Afterward, she snuggles with him and purrs.
(There’s a fifty-fifty chance a neighbor sees him and reports him for public indecency or something. He doesn’t give a fuck.)
Bucky names the cat Alpine and answers Steve’s texts. He thinks of going to his therapy appointment. He pulls up youtube and types how to wash a cat.
Bucky and Alpine have a game. It’s very competitive, and it’s called make Alpine an indoor cat.
Being an indoor cat includes: washing up, eating food only from the cat bowl, no yelling at night, no tables allowed, and not going out whenever Alpine feels pleased. So long Bucky’s losing.
The benefits include tons of adorable photos of a white furball. Also, the feeling of vindication that Bucky has whenever Alpine appears on his doorstep, wet and sad and begging to be let in.
If only she remembered it the next time she felt like going out.
At some point — a month in or so — Bucky gives up and texts Steve I think I have a cat now.
Time flies.
Tumblr media
Bucky wakes up in the middle of the night. Something’s happening at the door. It’s dark and raining outside, and he’s half asleep, so nothing registers in his brain as wrong when he thinks Alpine let in and goes to open the door and let the wet pile of sadness inside.
He opens the door. There is a wet pile of sadness out on his porch. Only it has brown eyes, an awkward smile, curls stuck to the forehead, and is generally more man-shaped than kitty-shaped.
“You’re not my cat,” Bucky says.
“My bike broke down,” the stranger says at the same time.
“Huh?”
“What?”
They stare at each other for a second, then Bucky notices that the stranger does have a bike with him, the front wheel of it at a weird angle. The stranger, meanwhile, notices Alpine, smiles and points at her. She stays behind Bucky’s leg, sleepy and dry and decidedly indoor: apparently, she did the smart thing for the first time and decided to stay at home during a rainy night.
“Cat!” the stranger exclaims with glee and gets down to pet her.
He drops the bike, which falls down with a bang, and the combination of a new human, rain from his hand, and the loud sound make Alpine run without abandon.
“Oh,” the guy says, sadly, then looks at Bucky from under his lashes. He’s still crouched down, and still half under the rain. His eyes are enormous and doe-like. “Sorry?”
Bucky sighs.
Half an hour later, he got the guy a change of clothes and a big towel, and made him a big cup of scorching tea. Alpine warmed up to him. Bucky, too — the reason for it being, maybe, the fact that dried up, the guy’s ridiculously pretty.
His name is Tony. He’s alternating between apologizing and enthusiastically telling Bucky some weird shit about a botched stars-watching expedition that’s supposed to prove some unprovable thing.
Bucky makes him a grilled cheese.
(He doesn’t know why this is happening. He doesn’t even like people, even the pretty ones. He doesn’t make friends, date, flirt, anything. Plus, the odds of Tony not only being queer but also into a creepy one-armed vet? Not great. Don’t even go there, brain.)
“This is soo tasty,” Tony says and flutters his eyelashes at him.
(He’s ridiculous, and young, even though intimidatingly smart, and Bucky has a thing for strays, apparently, lost and small and with hidden greatness lurking within. But at some point strays figure themselves out and leave him. Bucky doesn’t need it.)
“Thank you, again,” Tony says for the millionth time. “I would have managed the bike — nothing I can’t fix, my baby’s half custom anyway, but the rain, and the night, and I totally wouldn’t make it back home. But I recognized your home — I hung out during the summer at Carol’s place, your neighbor, but she’s away so — saw you a couple of times and knew that you were the one I had the best chances with. And here we are!”
He grins, and it’s so contagious that Bucky kind of grins back, but then the rest of it registers with him.
“Wait, what do you mean you had the best chances with me?”
“Oh! I saw you with that dog. And with Alpine here. And that time you helped that kid to find their parents. Remembered your house really well. Because, you know, buff guy, small kids and cute animals, incredibly hot combo.”
They stare at each other for a while. Then Tony grows bright red, as if only now processing what he just said.
“Can we pretend you didn’t hear the last bit here?”
“Nope,” Bucky says, a little gleeful. The smile shows on his face no matter how hard he tries to fight it, but he thinks it isn’t as creepy as usual, judging by the way Tony watches him. It feels heady, but it also stops him from thinking too much about what a mess he is. “But you’ll get more food for more compliments.”
“Will I?”
“Uh-huh. Might get some compliments in turn, too.”
Tony’s still blushing, but he looks pleased now.
Bucky pets Alpine and thinks: maybe some strays are different. Maybe there aren’t strays at all.
Maybe they’re here to stay.

The Companions as perfumes
I did it anyways lol. Once again let me know if you want a link to any of these.
Tumblr media
Rose Tyler: Blackberry peach preserves- Nui Cobalt
Fox in the flowerbed- Imaginary Authors
Notes: Blackberry peach preserves-Deep and delicious, this scent recalls the purple skies of Autumn’s sunset. Ripened plump blackberries, vanilla sugar, luscious peach, and subtle spice. Wear for soothing, healing, and protection.
Fox in the flowerbed-Jasmine Tulips Frankincense Wildflower Honey Pink Peppercorns Silver Thistle Alpine Air
I feel like these both complement the ninth and tenth doctors pretty well. And they are both a sweeter and sort of flirty scent which suits Rose's personality. A note about fox in the flower bed is that it isn't a artificial flower scent. It smells exactly like if you laid down in a bed of flowers. I'm not one for florals but this is a perfume I would be reaching for.
Tumblr media
Martha Jones: Zuma 1975- Thin Wild Mercury
Notes: Top Notes Bergamot, Coriander Middle Notes Ocean waves, Jasmine Sambac Bottom Notes Sandalwood, Vetiver, Ambrette Musk
I don't have this perfume but from what i've heard it is very good. It's advertised more as a beachy summery perfume I believe.
Tumblr media
Donna Noble: Yesterday Haze
Notes:Fig Iris Cream Tonka Tree Bark Walnut Bitters Orchard Dust
This perfume immediately draws you in. It's personally one of my favorites and would suit Donna insanely well. It's just one of those perfumes that if you smelled it out in public you would never be able to forget about it.
Tumblr media
Amelia Pond: O'Unknown- Imaginary Authors
Notes-Black Tea Lapsang Souchong Tincture Orris Butter Kyoto Moss Musk Balsam Sandalwood ???
Another perfume that I don't personally have but just from the name alone I had to pair this one up for Amy Pond. Each of the Imaginary Author perfumes have a story behind them and this one is Amy's. A man that left for adventure ready to leave it all behind.
Tumblr media
Rory Williams: Classic Old Spice.
Look. I love Rory. I really do. But I have a pretty good feeling the only thing he wears is old spice. It's comforting and well known scent. Not only that but it's dependable and I feel like that Rory to a t. In order to have Rory wear something else I'd feel like it would have to be a gift. And if that were the case I'd choose Painted Fires by death and floral.
‘Painted Fires ’ - Dry desert rose & dusty ground, sweet summer citrus, leftover bonfire ash, white sage distilled in New Mexico, sun-warmed ghostly glow
Tumblr media
Clara Oswald: Saint Julep- Imaginary Authors
Notes:Sweet Mint Tangerine Southern Magnolia Bourbon Grisalva Sugarcube
This smells like drinking a sweet tea with some bourbon in it during the summer time. It's not over powering but it still lets you know that it's there. It's a delicate sounding perfume that gives a nice hit once you smell it.
Tumblr media
Captain Jack Harkness: Apre's - Ellis Brooklyn
Notes: Juniper Berries, Bourbon, Cedarwood
I have heard this perfume is that it is the embodiment of cutting up wood all day out in the forest and coming back home to sip on a glass of bourbon. There's also some notes of sweet vanilla to some. It's a more masculine leaning scent that envelops all who smell it.
Tumblr media
River Song: Whiskey 1969- Thin Wild Mercury
Notes: Top Notes Pink Pepper, Cardamom Middle Notes Raspberry, Nutmeg, Ylang Ylang Base Notes Cedarwood, Bourbon Amber
This is a perfume I wish I had. From what i've heard its a more sexy and sultry scent that breathes of something wild. Another perfume oil I had in mind for River Song was Two cups of tea a summer monsoon and me and you by Death and Floral. It's a sweet summery petrichor scent that I just adore.

TALK ABT HAZED MEMORIES!!!!!! *STARES AT YOU*
Ahaha I don't know if u want like a specific stuff, I'm pretty sure I've mentioned the story before of "getting these bitches therapy since they 1: need it. 2: I love them all to hell and back, and 3: that getting help and being being doesn't only imploy certain types of bad and that anyone can fix their behavior and actions if they try hard enough. And only other stuff happens ig" but I'm also using this as an excuse to talk about the planets and species sorry,,
Put it all under the cut bc itz long,, hope it's good ^w^
The planet ahit takes place on is called Ninrao, no reason I chose that name it just sounded nice. The planet runs on anarchy, probably the only planet that works on anarchy that is (somewhat) peaceful.
The planet is very medically advanced yet has very little technological advances, its also quite small (while the planet is bigger in my idea its still relatively small compared to others). The planet is made up of 7 main-ish areas, such as the canon areas (ie- mafia town {also known as Aurora Island}, the place where dbs is {unnamed for now}, subcon kingdom/forest it's basically the same area now, alpine skyline and nyakuza metro) but there's also the original mafia town (which is unnamed rn also) and the Luxyren Kingdom aka where the Prince/Snatcher comes from (shouldn't technically count but there's still like 1 and a half ppl there so).
The moon that goes with it is called Lotune. Lotune is a very cold place that is basically soley inhabited by the moon penguins, it's also one of the very few moons that inhabited but we'll talk about that later.
The planet that the Remphs (again will talk about them later) live on is called Ixion, it's a very technically advanced planet it's main city is basically a sci-fi area, tho every other area is very forest and earthy. Ixion has a president (or ruler? Idk) named Cassia (she's unimportant rn :))
Ixion also has a connection to- on wait that's classified, whatever anyways onto the species!
The Remphs as talk about above is the species that Hat and Bow are apart of! They're a species that are able to control and protect time since they can withstand it and it's drawbacks. They're also the only species that can travel galaxies far away from their own.
The Remphs' are very secretive and rarely leave their planet, the only time they do leave is mostly the children when they are studying on about other planets (which is what H&B were doing!) some do leave the planet tho, and if they do they're seen as outcasts and disgusting traitors and are to never be realized as ever having existed getting rid of any and all evidence of their existence. If they dare come back they are killed. :)
Oh! And a bonus of the fact they are naturally very strong and also have acidic spit <3
Now onto the species of Ninrao;
Humans are the most normal and uncommon species on Ninrao, they used to be pretty common yet their two kingdoms both fell (thanks Vanessa's mental issues and N-.. You.), the only civilizations are the Aurora Island (don't worry the previous lives there didn't die or anything they just went somewhere else) and OG Mafia Town, they did have one is the desert but like,,,, that one just disappeared and nobody has tried to check on it since.
Humans have magic, elemental and non elemental magic the elemental magics are fire, water, plant, electric, and ice. The only non elemental magic I have rn are puppeteering and servent magic (I've only started working on it 2day so I don't have a lot for now sorry)
Humans also have pointy ears (as seen in my mb & mu designs) , their ears make it easier to hear from distances but it makes them sensitive to loud noises like yelling and fireworks. Humans are also very connected to their souls of course everybody has one but humans are the most connected to theirs, it's the host of most of their magical abilities. Removing a soul from a human is horrific and painful both to see and experience (gee I sure hope no ghosts do that to scare ppl hm)
Oh yes speaking of which let's talk about ghosts, ghosts are mostly made up of humans, ghosts are normally small little noodly creatures sometimes called dwellers, the dwellers cannot speak unless they have a host to due so. The hosts are things such as dolls and game consoles things they can mess and/or communicate with. They however cannot posses humans or any other species no matter how much the movies say so.
Ghosts don't remember their pasts, the most they remember are a few small snippets and vague feelings about stuff, they can remember however if they meet somebody or go to locations that they have memories from. Also they can eat and vaguely taste said food, not important to what I was saying before but yeah.
I'm gonna start making these shorter so I don't just like kill u with my talking, okay next is uhh Moon Penguins!
The Moon penguins are based around dancing and music, that's their entire culture and identity! They're very good with the cold, living on a coldass moon it just makes sense for Ninrao cold to not bother them. They live on both Ninrao and Lotune being able to survive both climates.
The Dust Owls, commonly also called the Express Owls live mainly in the desert and use the Conductor's train to get places (hince both names), they generally have bad and/or sensitive eyes normally needed glasses. They can fly short distances/heights, their insides are also akin to engines. They're naturally clumsy and commonly get stutters or other speech problems
There's also Phoenix's but they're unimportant rn ;) just know they're very closely related to fire spirits and are rarely seen by others (outside the nomads since they live near them)
Anywho the Anthro Cats are similar to normal cats, able to see in the dark and have very sharp claws, either being super tall or short. They have a good sense of smell and hearing (not as good as humans but still)
There is one other species, being connected to the Remphs' and possibly the Moon Penguins buy that's classified so I'd rather not waster ur time
There's the gist of the species not really a lot else to not that I have for now,,, besides the fact that the Ninrao species have a harder time having kids together plus hybrids but they ain't too special just a mixture of both of the parents species
Wowie I've rattled on way too long about this haha oops,,, welp I'm not talking now <3 hope it's good

Best of all, when you get rung, it will speak the caller's name to you.overall brilliant piece of kit that I'm very happy with :D Voice is crisp and clear, callers say I sound crisp and clear too and it's unobtrusive and very svelte :).Īll functions are handled by the red/green buttons and the large rotary dial in the centre (which is nice and tactile).
#Parrot 3200 Ls Firmware Update update
This time round, everything worked fine, so the long and the short of it is that if you buy one today, it'll work correctly out of the box D (don't bother trying to update the software as it's already at 1.25). I ended up having to do a memory reset and starting again from scratch (hold red an green buttons down together). This resulted in being unable to record voice tags, nor use the voice dialling nor to even successfully do a firmware re-update (win 7 圆4 not supported at all and the connection kept getting dropped this time round on OS X). However, I made a mistake in trying to update it when it already had the latest v1.25 firmware. not delivered yet (but then, neither is my car ))ĮDIT: Recieved mine today after all (late post )): I also like the fact that it's unobtrusive (on the sun visor) and I can remove it from the car into any other one.Ĭosts £50 from Amazon. Yes, not as "integrated" as the other parrot products but I have an iphone and this had a few pluses - namely that it syncs contacts seamlessly with it, has it's own voice tags and the voice quality is excellent. Yep, I was looking at getting some BT action in the car :D.ġ Honda factory fitted BT system - Too expensive £290Ģ 3rd party handsfree earpice for phone - cheap but don't like having to wear those for long periodsģ Replace stock HU with one with BT functionailty - Expensive and no guarantee it would be "better" than a standalone unit (plus, the Alpine's I was looking at had Parrot tech anyway) - plus, I like the stock dash )Ĥ Get a Parrot handsfree solution - what I did Just thought I would share if anyone else was in the market. Mine has been well tested and for £200 fitted I am well impressed. Has its own amp, but sounds fine in the Jazz and the other options apart from the phone are really good. Great little bit of kit, 2 year warrenty using the above company. Screen is to the right of the wheel by the little window and all the connectors go in the glove box. Just got a Parrot MKI9200 fitted by these guysĬame to work, fitted within the hour.

Salvador Ibanez ~1900 Flamenco
Tumblr media
Very beautiful historical guitar by the famous Salvador Ibanez, built around 1900. Fantastic looking guitar with an amazing sound! Salvador Ibáñez (1854–1920) was a Spanish luthier. He made all kind of stringed instruments. These instruments were considered the finest of their age and are prized for their excellent quality and impeccable workmanship. At eleven years of age Ibáñez became an apprentice in guitar construction at Calle Muela Valencia. In 1870 he started his own company: Salvador Ibáñez y Albiñara. The company was registered at Calle Cubells. Working in his shop were the ten-year-old José Ibáñez and Magdalena Albiñara y Magraner, from Ollería, Valencia. In 1896 he first appeared in the trade guides at Calle Ruzafa Valencia and from 1898 to 1906 his shop was located at Calle Bajada de San Francisco. Salvador Ibáñez made bandurias, lutes, six and nine-string guitars and also guitars with detachable necks. In 1897 he made the world’s first double-necked guitar. In the period 1915-1920 Salvador Ibáñez e Hijos (Salvador Ibáñez and Sons) were located at Calle Bajada de San Francisco and at Calle Padre Rico Valencia. When he died in 1920 his workshop continued to be managed by his two sons until it was sold in 1933 to Telesforo Julve. Julve bought the Salvador Ibanez name, personnel and machinery and incorporated it in its own enterprise. Julian Bream has played a Salvador Ibáñez guitar. Eric Clapton has owned several original Salvador Ibáñez guitars, one of which was sold at a benefit auction in 1999 obtaining a final price of US$42,000. It is a pleasantly light guitar, finely built with a nicely coloured rosette, a straigt forward design and a smooth and fluid headstock shape. This guitar has a wonderful vintage sound, the playability is incredibly comfortable and the guitar responds to the finest touch. It has a lyrical, singing quality to the sound and the bases are thick and well present. It can be very loud with a piercing volume and still it retains a charming tone. It is a truly graceful instrument with a fascinating sound. If someone is trying to find a lightweight flamenco guitar with this typical old world and deep flamenco sound at a reasonable price … this is the guitar to go for! The guitar is in a restored and well playable condition. The scale lenghts is 648 mm and the nut width 51 mm. The top is of fine alpine spruce and the back and sides of very beautiful and high quality cypress. Read the full article

<h1>Face Wash & Scrub</h1>
This cleans nicely and feels great happening however afterwards leaves my skin feeling to dry. Created an excessive amount of shine and promoted oil manufacturing. Great product for any skin sort, cleans without over drying, has labored great for my acne with the acne therapy lotion. Caudalie's grape water, chamomile, and glycerin formula promises to draw moisture back into the skin. This makes this micellar water a go-to for magnificence and skincare fanatics. This remedy cleanser is a favourite for darker skin tones, formulated to handle widespread issues corresponding to oily skin and uneven tone. While it could sound just like the fairer intercourse has the raw end of this deal, consider that almost all ladies usually have a history of taking better care of their skin. The term 'fragrance' was developed in an ingredients list to protect an organization's commerce secrets and techniques beneath the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act of 1966. Unfortunately, the chemical compounds in parabens can even disrupt hormones within the body, causing harm to fertility and reproductive organs as nicely as rising your risk of cancer. Definitely what I wanted all alongside and is replacing all the opposite products I’ve been utilizing which value more and has not helped me. My face is way lighter than what it was before as properly. When looking at any face wash ingredient listing, there will practically always be some artificial components within the bottle. However, it’s important to know that some chemicals are needed for removing oil or dirt build-up. For 19 years we've been associating international manufacturers offering high quality and innovation making our products your vibrant secret! With over eight brands under our name, with island broad distribution and retailers we've been catering our clients services and products to satisfy all their beauty necessities. I’ve personally used this Clarins face wash daily for the past four years. Since then I’ve gone from oily and pimply to clear-skinned, and I’m certain that this Clarins played a key role. In addition, every day shaving has an exfoliating impact on their faces. I use this product day and night and it leaves my face feeling clean and refreshed. Can't wait to use it together with the advanced face lotion. I really have very sensitive skin and most face washes go away my skin too dry to too greasy. I use the face wash each morning and it leaves my face feeling clean and easy. Does not leave your face soapy or dry or over-moisturized. Got my order at present and actually glad with supply. I definitely advocate it to everyone who need to buy unique Dr. Rashel products. If you've severe acne, you may wish to try using a face wash that accommodates benzoyl peroxide. oil face cleanser Active charcoal and other natural exfoliants gently extract toxins while dissolving deep-down filth, preserving breakouts at bay. Meanwhile, antioxidant-rich alpine caribou moss protects the skin from environmental assaults like air pollution by boosting suppleness. Ceylon is probably considered one of the few manufacturers that create products particularly for men of color, and it offers a straightforward range of cleanser, toner and moisturizers. The formula contains tea tree oil to scale back irritation. This cleansing milk is a creamy face wash that uses alpine herbs to softly dissolve makeup, impurities and pollution whereas also hydrating skin.

》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ ˚ ˛ • 。* 。° 。* 。 • ˚《
The first time you knock on Bucky’s door Alpine wanders over curiously.
Bucky stares at the door silently urging you to go away. You knock again and Alpine begins to paw at the door before meowing loudly, which makes Bucky groan. “I’m coming.” He calls as he stands from the couch. He pauses the movie playing on his television, something ridiculous that Sam had insisted on. Alpine meows again and Bucky can hear you laugh through the door.
He pulls on a hoodie that’s laying on his counter and stuffs his left hand into the front pocket. When he pulls the door open you smile brightly. “James!”
The two of you had met briefly when Bucky had originally moved into the building. You had smiled the same bright smile in the elevator and offered up your name easily. Bucky had smiled tightly in return and told you his full name, a habit he had yet to break, and he deeply regretted it. Every time you passed in the hallway you called out a cheery James despite Bucky’s corrections.
“It’s Bucky.” He mutters. Your eyes move over his shoulder and Bucky watches as you take in his very undecorated and barely furnished apartment. Bucky didn’t mind how seemingly empty his place was. He wasn’t home a lot and nobody but Sam spent time with him. Sam might think it was time to add barstools and a spice rack, but Bucky was content with how things were.
Your attention is pulled to Alpine as he peeks out from behind Bucky’s legs. “And who are you?” You ask quietly as you squat down to meet his eyes. You hold a cautious hand out and Alpine only stares. You wait for a moment before he turns and moves back into the apartment.
You don’t seem to take it to heart though. You laugh as you stand up. “He takes after his dad, huh.” There’s a teasing glint in your eyes and Bucky should be offended but the comment actually makes him smirk.
“His name is Alpine.” Bucky says monotone as he watches you rock back and forth on your feet. “Did you need something?”
“Oh!” Your eyes light up as if you had completely forgotten your reason for coming here in the first place. “I need salt! Do you have any?” Your eyes move behind him again as if you’re now suddenly worried the answer won’t be yes.
“I have salt, yes.” He doesn’t move from his spot and only stares down at you. Your eyes flicker around the hallway before you smile nervously. “Can I have some?” You ask quietly.
Bucky nods and makes his way into his kitchen. He expects you to stay and wait in the doorway, but he hears the door shut behind you.
“Didn’t want him to get out.” You say as you lean against his counter. Bucky’s a little put off by your brazen personality, but you don’t seem to notice his discomfort. “How long have you lived in DC?” You ask as Bucky moves to pull the salt out.
“How much do you need?” He asks instead of answering.
“Not much! A couple teaspoons.” Bucky’s stoic attitude doesn’t seem to deter you at all. He glances around the bare kitchen before deciding to just give you the shaker.
“I don’t have anything to put it in, just make sure to return it eventually.” He shrugs as he slides it over to you. You grasp it in your hand but make no effort to move. Bucky sighs. “And I’ve lived here for a couple years now. I… I moved here after the Blip.”
He wonders briefly if you know who he is. He’s not sure what happened in the years of the blip, if his name had been marked on one of those memorials. That had been before his pardon, so he assumes not. He wonders if Steve’s exhibit had been changed. He hadn’t been back since before the blip. Was he still in it? Had they changed it or was Bucky Barnes still dead in America’s eyes? His eyes find yours and then he wonders if you did know who he was, were you worried?
You seemed fine around him. He hadn’t seen any recognition on your face when he had introduced himself all those months ago. A frown tugs at your lips. “Were you…” You trail off but Bucky knows the question.
Bucky nods tightly and you take a step away and move towards his door, like you know he’s reached the limit on sharing personal details for the night. “Me too.” You finally say when your hand lands on his door knob. You pause. “It’s weird. Right? Coming back to a completely different world?”’
“Yeah.”  He nods. You have no idea, he thinks. He had just begun to figure out how to live free again and then he was gone. And when he came back, he was thrust into battle then lost Steve to a world Bucky was no longer a part of. “It’s weird.”
You smile apologetically. “Thank you for the salt, James.” You say quietly. His eyes flash to yours but your face doesn’t give much away.
He nods and the door slams shut. Alpine comes trotting out and rubs against Bucky’s shins. “Yeah, she’s weird.” Bucky reaches down to softly pet Alpine’s back. “Pretty though, huh?”
Alpine pushes against his hand and Bucky takes that as agreement enough.
//
Bucky liked helping Sam down at the VA. Handing things out, setting things up, and talking with veterans gave Bucky a sense of something. It gave him something to do when Sam and him weren’t away on missions.
And he got to spend time with Sam. While it was something he would never admit to the man, he enjoyed his company. Sam had slowly become Bucky’s best friend. Not that Bucky really had any other close friends.
“Thanks for helping out today.” Sam smiles as Bucky leads him through the hallway towards his apartment. “But you know, you can just come for a meeting. To talk.”
Bucky nods. He did know that, really. But Bucky was okay with listening for now. Maybe one day he would share some of his story, but helping out now was helping him.
Bucky stops short in the hall when he notices something sitting outside his door. He throws an arm out that Sam slams into. “Jesus, what…” He trails off when he notices what Bucky had seen.
There’s a small brown box sitting on the ground. “Stay here.” He murmurs as he begins to move towards the object. Sam gives Bucky a look before following behind him. “Or not.” He glares. Both men kneel down in front of the box. There’s not much that gives anything about what’s in the box away, just his name written in fancy script.
He reaches a hand out to touch it when the sound of your door opening makes him second guess and pull away. You were a little weird, but he didn’t want to blow you up.
“James!” Him and Sam look over at you as you lock your door. You’ve got a red apron wrapped around your waist and your bag is slipping off your shoulder. Before Bucky can say anything like be careful, you furrow your brows at the men. “What are you doing? Do you not like cookies?”
“Cookies?” Bucky asks as he glances down at the box again. Sam has already stood up and straightened out, but he’s still kneeling in front of the door. He can hear Alpine pawing at it, no doubt having heard Bucky’s voice, and he feels a little ridiculous now. “It’s Bucky.” He adds on now that he knows it’s not an explosive sitting in front of him.
You nod slowly with a confused smile on your face. “Cookies. I made a bunch so I packed up the extra for you. When I knocked nobody answered so I left them, I wasn’t sure if I’d be home when you got back.”
Bucky feels heat rise to his cheeks. He hastily picks the box up and stands. Sam laughs loudly and Bucky glances at him coldly. “Thanks.” He says quietly.
You rock back and forth on your feet again. Must be a nervous habit, Bucky thinks. “I also made some cat treats. For Alpine.” Bucky recognizes the nervous tone in your voice as you stare at the box in his hands. “Thank you. For the help.” You say before spinning on your heel. You freeze and turn again, this time your eyes land on Sam. “Nice to meet you, Captain America, sir.” You look like you’re thinking of throwing your hand up in salute, but instead you turn again and rush down the hall.
Bucky just stares after you until a muffled meow breaks his focus. He shakes his head before shoving the box into Sam’s hands and moving to unlock the door. “So.” Sam says with a poorly contained smirk as he follows Bucky inside. “She seems nice, James.”
Bucky groans before snatching the box from his hands. “She knows I go by Bucky, she just calls me that to mess with me… I think.”
“And she knows Alpine?” Sam kneels down to pet said cat, but he jumps away and hides behind Bucky’s legs. “Come on, Al. We’ve known each other since you were adopted.” Sam stands up and rolls his eyes at Bucky.
Bucky laughs softly at the cat. “She asked to borrow salt last night and kind of met him. Alpine didn’t really stick around to hang out with her.” He begins to open the box and notices a small note taped to the inside of the lid.
He pulls it off hesitantly. “What’s her name?” Sam leans against the counter and pulls a cookie out of the box.
“Y/N.” He says quietly as his eyes skim over the note.
James,
Thank you for the salt. And the conversation. I hope you enjoy the cookies. I made some simple tuna treats for Alpine.
Step One in getting your cat to love me.
Bucky lays the note on his counter and looks into the box. His shaker is standing in the corner next to a small plate of cookies and a jar of what he assumes are the cat treats. Sam laughs and Bucky glances up to see him reading over the note. “Hey!” Bucky yanks it out of his hand and shoves it into one of the drawers in front of him.
“Getting Alpine and you to love her, she means.” He laughs again and Bucky rolls his eyes. “That’s cute. I didn’t know you had a little flirtationship going on.”
Bucky scoffs. “I don’t… What does that even mean? Did you see us in the hall? I don’t flirt with her.”
Sam reaches for another cookie. “Really? Just felt like that’s how you would flirt. And you blushed so…” He trails off with a smirk.
“I wasn’t blushing!” Bucky says defensively. He didn’t blush just because a pretty girl gave him cookies. He wasn’t in middle school. When Sam reaches for another cookie, Bucky yanks the box away. “Are you gonna order dinner or stand here and eat all of my cookies?”
Sam throws his hands up in mock surrender and pulls out his cell phone. “Hey. No need to get defensive. Maybe it was just hot in the hallway.” He moves into the living room and flings himself onto the small couch.
Bucky scoffs and looks down at Alpine, who has made himself comfortable at Bucky’s feet. “I wasn’t blushing.” He says quietly to the cat. Alpine just blinks. Bucky pulls a treat out of the small jar and holds it out to him. “You know I wasn’t blushing.”
//
The next time Bucky sees you, it’s him at your door. He’s got a clean plate in his hand and is decidedly not nervous as he waits for you to answer.
He lifts his hand to knock again when the door swings open. You’re standing in nothing but a sweatshirt and shorts that barely peek out from beneath it. Bucky swallows and forces his eyes up from your legs to your face.
He gives you an apologetic smile when he sees your raised brows. “James.” You smile kindly as you lean against your door frame. “What can I do for you?”
“Bucky.” He says automatically. He holds the plate out and notices your eyes catch on his gloved hands. “Figured you might want this back. I washed it.”
You take the plate from his hands. “Thank you.” Bucky doesn’t move from his spot in the hallway. He’s not really sure why because he’s done what he needed to do. He just wanted to enjoy your presence, he assumes. You had begun to grow on him and your cookies were really good. Or maybe he had always kind of liked you.
“Do you want to come in?” You ask. There’s an inviting smile on your face and he almost says yes. He wants to say yes. But he didn’t want to leave Alpine alone, he had already been gone for most of the day.
Bucky gives you an apologetic smile. “I would… But I don’t want to leave Alpine alone.” You nod with a soft smile and Bucky watches for a moment before taking a step back.
“I’ll just…” He points over shoulder at his door. He turns and starts the short walk to his door.
You laugh quietly. “Have a good night, James.”
“Bucky.” He corrects. He takes a deep breath and turns to face you again. You’re still standing in your doorway watching him amused. “Do you want to… You can come to mine instead?”
Your small smile transforms into something bright and excited as you nod. “That would be great. Let me grab my keys.” You hold a finger up and disappear into your apartment.
As soon as you're out of sight Bucky slumps against the wall. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. He thinks. His living room is bare except for the small, shitty couch Sam had persuaded him into buying. That and a lamp on an Ikea side table and his television.
He imagined your living room was much homier. Probably decorated to fit your aesthetic and cozy. What would you think of his place? What did you think? You couldn’t mind it too much if you agreed to come, right?
His nervous train of thought is disrupted when he hears your door slam shut. Bucky watches as you lock your door quickly. “Lead the way!” You look at Bucky with teasing eyes.
Bucky smiles hesitantly as he turns towards his own door. When he opens it, he finds Alpine laying on the back of the couch and he stares confused at Bucky and the new addition to the apartment.
“You remember Alpine.” Bucky says with a small smile as he beckons you further into the apartment. “It’s not much-“
“-It’s nice.” You cut him off. You’ve got a genuine smile on your face and Bucky begins to wonder why he had ever been nervous. You’d always been kind, he couldn’t imagine you having anything rude to say. “Hi, Alpine.” You say quietly as you step cautiously towards the couch.
Bucky watches as Alpine looks up at you equally as cautious. “Nice to see you again. I hope you like the treats.” At the word, Alpine perks up and looks at you intrigued.
Bucky quietly pulls a couple treats out of the jar. He moves as subtly as he can in order to avoid shifting Alpine’s attention. “Here.” He slips a treat into your hand. “See if he comes to you.”
You hold the treat out in front of you and Alpine sniffs the air. You don’t say anything, like you know trying to coax the cat to you might spook him. Alpine seems to appreciate it and moves towards you slowly. He snatches the treat from your hand before dashing away. He disappears down the hallways, but you don’t seem to care because you spin around to face Bucky with a happy smile.
“Did you see that?” You laugh. Bucky swallows and nods. Briefly he thinks you have a beautiful smile before shaking the thought off. You take a seat on his couch and pull your legs up underneath you. “I’ll be his favorite in no time.”
Bucky snorts. “I’m sure.” He says sarcastically. He sits next to you on the couch and moves to hand the remote to you. He lets a small smile be directed at you as he watches you make yourself comfortable in his home. It’s not much, but you seem to fit right in.
When your eyes land on his gloved hands again, he thinks you’re gonna ask for a reasoning behind them. He’d have to come up with a poor excuse, not wanting to share the truth yet. But your eyes move from his hands to his face and you take the remote with a smirk. “You ever seen Legally Blonde?”
And, well. That’s that.
//
The next time you and Bucky see each other, it’s in passing. He’s going out as you’re coming in. There’s a grease stain on your shirt and your red apron is barely stuffed into your purse.
Bucky hesitates for a moment. “Hey.” He says quietly. You spin around and slam backwards into your door. “Fuck. I didn’t mean to scare you, I’m sorry.” He takes a cautious step towards you. His eyes trail over your face, your eyes are red and he can tell how exhausted you are.
“It’s okay.” You say quietly. You take a few calming breaths. “I was in my head. It was a rough night.”
Bucky leans against the wall next to you. “Wanna talk about it?” He’s grown so used to you just stopping to chat that this tense silence feels wrong. Normally he wouldn’t even have to prompt you, he would listen as you just launch into a story easily.
You trail your eyes over his outfit. “You look like you’re headed out.”
Bucky shrugs and doesn’t move from his spot. “Just a recap then. I have time.” He’s not sure what’s inspired him to do this. But he thinks it has something to do with this newfound fondness to your bright personality. He wants it back.
You take a deep breath and nod. “Come in for a glass of water? Then I’ll let you go.”
Bucky sighs in relief. “Sounds perfect.” He follows you into the apartment. It’s different from his. Bright, like you. You’ve got posters hanging neatly on the wall your tv is against. Plants sitting by your window. A large couch and soft rug. “Nice place.” He comments as he moves to sit on one of your barstools.
You laugh softly. “Thanks.” You drop your purse onto the counter and turn to pull two glasses out of the cupboard. “Where are you headed? If you don’t mind me asking.”
Bucky glances at the time on your stove. “Oh… I help my friend out with meetings at the VA. I was headed to help him set up.”
You slide a glass of water towards him. “You’re a vet?” He takes it with an appreciative smile. “I didn’t…” You shake your head. “Thank you.”
Bucky shakes his head. “I’m not…” He trails off unsure of how to explain his status to you. Did you really not know who he was? “Tonight's topic is you.”
You roll your eyes and lean back against the counter. “Have you ever just had a bad day? Where nothing seems to go right?” Bucky nods and you sigh. “My master’s thesis, I’ve been working on it for months, I got back my draft today from my advisor and he tore it apart. Had a good cry about that. Got called in early to work, I need the money so I said yes. The diner was busy and we were short staffed. To top it off, my last customer of the night was a douche. He hit on me all night. When I told him no to getting my phone number, he threatened to take my tip away.” You laugh bitterly as Bucky sits in silence, listening intently. “And then when I walked away, he tried to grab me. So… Stellar night over all.”
“Want me to kill him?” The words are out of Bucky’s mouth before he can think. He couldn’t imagine being forced to be nice to somebody who was just harassing him all night. In fact, he knows he wouldn’t be. And he knows you certainly didn’t deserve treatment like that.
You let out a shocked laugh that turns into a full blown laughing fit. Bucky lets out an awkward chuckle as he watches you shake.
“That’s…” You trail off and Bucky notices tears gathering in your eyes. “That’s really sweet.” You say wetly.
“Hey.” Bucky stands up and takes a step towards you. He pauses, unsure of what to do, but when you start to shake again, this time with tears, his decision is made. “Hey. You’re okay.”
He pulls you into him and you come easily. You wrap your arms tightly around his waist and rest your head against his chest as you let it out.
Bucky rubs your back and tries his best to calm his rapidly beating heart. He hopes you can’t hear it because he’s sure it would break any kind of aura of nonchalance he had created.
He glances at the time again. He really has to go. The meeting was starting soon and he’s sure Sam is worried about where Bucky is. He pulls back slowly, not wanting to let go.
You look at him with sad eyes. “I’m so sorry. I have to go.” You nod dejectedly and take a step back. You don’t go too far, both of your hands still clinging to his jacket. “Can you watch Alpine?” He rushes the words out and he knows there’s a light blush rising to his cheeks. He just wants to make you feel better and he really does hate leaving his cat alone.
You furrow your brows. “What?”
“I mean.” He takes a hurried step back suddenly aware of you still wrapped in his arms. “I hate leaving him alone. And… You look like you could use some furry company.”
A slow smile spreads across your face. “Are you saying your cat likes me?”
“No.” Bucky laughs. “But you are the only other person he doesn’t completely hate.”
“I would love to watch Alpine.” You take a few rushed steps out of your kitchen. “I’ll change and head over.”
Bucky lets out a relieved breath and nods. “Good. Cool. I mean-“ He shakes his head. “-my spare key is on top of my door. You don’t have to do anything but hang out with him. Don’t expect cuddles though, I’m not sure you’re on that level yet. Don’t give him too many treats.”
You’re nodding like his instructions are even the smallest bit important. “I have to go.” Bucky says ago and takes another step towards the door. “I’ll see you later.”
You nod and take off down your hall. Bucky lingers by your door for a moment.
“Wait!” You yell and come rushing out again. Bucky freezes and turns to look at you. “Thank you…James.” You smile brightly before spinning around again and disappearing.
Bucky smiles to himself as he leaves. The bright was back.
//
When Bucky gets home he’s more nervous than when he left. His palm is sweaty and all that’s on his mind is Sam’s constant teasing.
Bucky didn’t have a crush. He just… Liked having you around. That didn’t mean he wanted to date you. Maybe he did think you were pretty. And sure when you had let him hug you earlier it had made his heart race.
But it wasn’t a crush. Bucky was too old to have a crush. He takes a deep breath before opening his door. He can hear a movie playing softly before he even looks up.
“Hey.” You say quietly from where you’re laying on his couch. You sit up hastily with an embarrassed smile. Alpine is laying on the chair across from you. “We’re friends!” You point to the sleeping cat.
Bucky nods. “He actually stayed in the same room as you all night?” He asks doubtfully.
You frown, but there’s a mischievous sparkle in your eyes. “Maybe not all night. But he came out like an hour ago. I think he gave up on waiting for me to leave.”
You pat the spot next to you on the couch and Bucky moves as quietly as he can. “How was your night? Do you feel better?” He looks you over. You looked less tired and from the blankets piled on his couch it looks like you had taken a nap.
You nod. “A lot better… Thank you. I really appreciate you letting me hang out with your cat.” You look up at him with a nervous smile. “He’s just like you. You two were made for each other.”
Bucky glances at Alpine. “What does that mean?”
You poke Bucky’s leg with your socked foot. “Hard exterior, secretly wants to be best buds with me.”
Bucky snorts and gently shoves your foot away. “My secret plan has been outed. Make the girl from 4B my best friend.” You laugh and move to tuck your feet under his leg. It’s silent for a moment, and Bucky knows you’re watching him so he busies himself with watching Alpine.
“Hey…” You trail off waiting for Bucky to turn his attention to you. “I don’t want to upset you or anything.”
“That’s always a good start.” Bucky says nervously as he focuses on you. Your hands are fidgeting in your lap as you watch him. “What’s wrong?”
You shake your head quickly. “Nothing’s wrong! I just… Promise you won’t be upset with me?” Your eyes are pleading and Bucky can feel himself get anxious. What could you be so nervous about?
“What’s wrong?” He asks quietly. You don’t say anything, so Bucky swallows hard. “I promise.” He nods slowly.
“Okay.” You take a deep breath. Bucky watches your eyes shift around the room before landing on his hands clenched together in his lap. “I thought I recognized you. Like, your name is so familiar and then when I saw you with Captain America…”
Bucky looks down at his hands and nods. He knew where this was going. “I…” He trails off.
“I looked you up.” You rush the words out. Your voice is small and Bucky feels any hopes he had for this friendship shatter around him.
“I don’t… I’m not any of those things anymore.” Bucky cringes. His leg is shaking anxiously, but he just can’t get it to stop. He can’t even get himself to look up from his gloved hands, didn’t want to see the fear or disbelief that would be painted across your face.
Your toes poke at his thigh again and it forces Bucky to look over at you. Your eyebrows are furrowed as you watch him, but there’s no trace of fear or anger, you wear the same kind smile that you always did.
“I know that.” You whisper softly. Your eyes move past him and Bucky follows your line of vision to Alpine, whose bright eyes are staring at him. Bucky smiles gently at the cat as he stretches out and hops off the chair. Alpine rubs against Bucky’s shins, a welcome distraction from the impending conversation. Your feet curve upward to poke Bucky in the leg again. He looks up hastily at the gesture. “When I asked if you were a vet earlier, why did you say no?”
Bucky purses his lips to think. The truth was he wasn’t at all sure how to explain everything to you. He didn’t have to explain things to Sam or Steve, they knew. “My war was a long time ago.” He settles on saying.
“That doesn’t make you any less a veteran.” You say firmly.  “And there’s not much online about the Winter Soldier-“ There’s ringing in Bucky’s ears as the words come out of your mouth. What had you found? And what were you thinking?
“Hey.” You lean over and place a gentle hand on his shoulder. “There’s not much online, but I didn’t read what there was because I knew that it was your story to tell me. When you’re ready.”
Bucky inhales sharply as you look at him with curious eyes. “I… I did a lot of bad things. I… I worked on making amends and I… I was pardoned.” He pleads with you like he’s sure you’ll walk out if you know everything.
“Okay.” The word is quiet and your hand is still resting on his shoulder. “You don’t have to tell me anything. I just wanted you to know that I’m your friend. Even with your super cool secret identity.”
Bucky laughs at that. “It’s not a secret if you use your real name.”
“Ah! You agree? We’re friends?” You say with a smirk. “Does that mean I get to see the super cool metal arm that’s always been covered around me?”
Bucky shakes his head, but laughs. “Not yet.” You’re watching him carefully so he gives you a small smile. “I would say we’re friends though, yeah.”
//
Suddenly, you’re always there.
When Bucky has missions with Sam, you check in on Alpine for him. His spare key has moved from above his door to your keychain.
You’ll come over with treats when he gets home from the VA. (Bucky likes to think you check for him when you hear the heavy footsteps in the hall and that’s why you’re always there right after he gets home.)
He’ll bring dishes back whenever he sees you get home. (He does check the peephole when he hears footsteps.)
You send him pictures of Alpine when he’s away. Alpine who still won't cuddle with you or even touch you, but who lays in the same room and has recently started allowing short pets. He sends you pictures of Sam and cities they’re in.
And tonight, while he’s in New York, you’ve sent him a picture of you in his bathroom mirror with Alpine sitting pretty on the counter.
He’s not supposed to be up there.
All he gets is another picture in return, this time you have a thumbs up and Alpine is still on the counter. Bucky smiles. Sam notices.
“Your girlfriend texting you?” He teases.
Bucky scoffs. “She’s not my girlfriend… She just watches Alpine for me sometimes.” He looks back down at his phone. Nice. He sends back before stuffing it into his pocket and looking back at the man.
Sam nods slowly. “Right. She just watches Alpine sometimes. And hangs out with you when she’s free. Don’t forget the treats she makes you and Alpine.” Sam lists off casually as he looks down at his fingernails.
Bucky feels an embarrassed heat crawl up the back of his neck and looks down at his feet. “We’re friends. She’s a good friend.”
When he looks up, Sam doesn’t have a teasing smile, but instead a genuinely happy one. Bucky thinks that this one is somehow worse when Sam grips his shoulder firmly. “I’m glad you have such a good friend, Bucky. Someone outside this super hero business.”
Bucky nods and swallows the lump in his throat. “Yeah. Thanks, Sam.”
“I’m serious, Bucky. You deserve it.”
Bucky gives him a grateful smile unable to say anything else.
//
Bucky creeps into his apartment at four in the morning. It’s quiet, like usual, but Alpine isn’t sitting on the couch like he normally does when Bucky isn’t home.
“Al?” He calls out quietly. The logical part of him is aware that Alpine may have fallen asleep in his bedroom, or underneath a piece of furniture. But there’s another part of him that panics at the routine being broken.
Alpine was always there to greet him.
Bucky would rather be safe than sorry. “Al.” He whispers again, already reaching for the knife strapped to his ankle. He bends slowly and lifts his pant leg as he scans his eyes under the couch and coffee table in search of the cat.
He stands with the knife in his hand and moves slowly down his hallway. His bedroom door is ajar, Bucky takes a deep breath before pushing it open all the way. Alpine blinks at him from the edge of his bed. The knife slips from Bucky’s hand as he stands, shocked in the doorway. You’re asleep. Asleep on the bed that he never used.
The knife clattering against the ground stirs you from your sleep and your eyes widen when you notice Bucky standing there.
“Hey!” Your voice is raspy and low. You rub your eyes and Bucky can only stare at your half-asleep form. “I… I thought you were going to be gone until tomorrow night.”
He nods. “Yeah. I mean, we got things done sooner than expected.” He explains. You lean over to flicker the light next to you on. Bucky doesn’t recognize the pillow sitting behind you or the blanket that’s thrown over your legs, he thinks you’ve brought them over from your apartment. You must have because his pillow and blanket was sitting folded in his linen closet waiting for the next time he camped out on the floor or the couch.
You smile apologetically. “I’m sorry. I… I got tired of falling asleep on the couch.” You whisper. “And Alpine lays with me on the bed.”
Bucky hastily shakes his head. “No! It’s fine. You don’t have to apologize. I should’ve told you to sleep in the bed. I didn’t even think of it.” I don’t really sleep in the bed. He moves further into the room.
You scratch nervously at your cheek before freezing in action. He almost laughs at the annoyance that crosses your face. You had mentioned once that touching your face was a bad habit you had been trying to break for months. “I should go.”
“You don’t have to.” Bucky opens his dresser drawer in search of sweatpants. “Stay here. You’ve already got yourself set up. I’ll crash on the couch.”
You push the blanket off of your legs and Bucky has to force his eyes to stay on yours when he notices the already short shorts you’re wearing have ridden up your thighs from sleeping. “I can’t make you sleep on the couch, James. I’ll go!”
“You know it’s Bucky.” He stops you with a hand on your shoulder. “It’s fine.” He stresses. “I… I don’t really sleep in the bed anyways. The couch is better.”
Your eyes narrow. “You don’t have to lie to make me feel better.” He can tell you’re hesitant, but your rushed movements have paused. “My apartment is across the hall! I feel awful for invading your space like this already.”
Bucky sits on the edge of the bed and watches curiously as you shift to sit next to him. Both your legs are dangling off, almost brushing his, and Bucky feels warmer than he had all week. “Doll, I’m serious. Beds are weird for me. I haven’t had one in so long that sometimes they’re just too overwhelming for me to sleep in.”
He almost jumps when your head rests against his shoulder. “I’m sorry. I didn’t… I didn’t think of that.”
“It’s good to see somebody getting good use out of this bed.” He leans into you slightly. “My ma would have thrown a fit if she saw how much this bed was. 800 dollars for a mattress... 800 dollars back then is like, thousands now.”
You laugh softly. Bucky glances down again. Your eyes are closed and he thinks you’re almost asleep until you talk. “Do you… Would someone being there help you sleep in the bed?”
You don’t open your eyes and Bucky’s almost glad for that because he can’t look away from you. “I… I don’t know. It’s only been Al and I.” His eyes follow the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe slow and calm.
You finally look up. “You should stay with me. The couch isn’t comfortable to sleep on, I would know.” You elbow his stomach gently.
He nods before he can even think about it. “If… If you’re comfortable with it.” He whispers.
“I wouldn’t have offered if I wasn’t. I promise.” You move away from him and Bucky already misses the warmth you radiate. “I’ll let you change.”
He leans against the bathroom door as soon as it’s shut behind him. “It’s okay.” He mumbles to himself. His nightmares had been getting better, but that didn’t mean they were gone entirely.
They probably never would be. And he knew he couldn’t let himself be afraid of the bed for the rest of his life. He had bought the bed. He just hadn’t expected his attempt at getting over the anxiety to be with you.
Why had he said yes? He thinks as he shakily slips his jacket off. He looks at himself in the mirror and sighs. It was a good question, why had he said yes?
He slips into his sweatpants and just stands in the bathroom. He couldn’t change his mind now.
Well, he could. He knew you would give him a kind smile and reassure him that he didn’t have to do anything he didn’t want to. You were just that person. Kind and understanding and holding no judgement.
“Okay.” He takes a deep breath. “Okay.” He shakes his shoulders out and picks up his discarded clothes. He stops at the linen closet and pulls out his blanket and pillow.
You’re already wrapped up in your blanket again when Bucky comes back into the room. Alpine has moved to lay the floor in front of his bed. You smile sleepily at Bucky. He feels himself smile back. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.
(When his eyes crack open the next morning he finds Alpine curled at his feet and you curled into his side, he knows being with you wouldn’t be bad. It’s the first time he lets himself think maybe this really is a crush.)
//
So, Bucky has a crush. Which is a little ridiculous because he’s over a century old and having a crush is so high school, but it’s there. When you smile in the hall and butterflies rush through his stomach or when his chest warms at a picture you’ve sent of you and Alpine. It’s so obviously there.
“What are you staring at?” Your voice shakes him when he realizes he’s been staring at you this entire time. You’re sitting next to him on the couch, so close your legs are touching. “Do I have something on my face?” You reach a hand up to your cheek.
Bucky shakes his head hastily. “No. Sorry, I was just lost in my thoughts.”
“Penny?” You ask softly and Bucky furrows his brows in confusion. “Penny for your thoughts.” You clarify quickly.
He thinks the smile that appears on your face is bashful and it makes Bucky feel just a little more confident. Maybe he made you as nervous as you made him.
“You’re really pretty.” He says suddenly. Your eyes widen and you look away nervously. A hand scratches at the back of your neck and Bucky bites down on his lip as he watches you. Not exactly how he hoped that would go. “I mean… I was just looking at… how pretty you were.” He cringes at the words as they come out of his mouth.
He used to be so much smoother than this, he thinks. He remembered having a new girl on his arm every week and a friend of theirs for Steve.
Alpine meows loudly and Bucky just knows the cat is laughing at him. “Thank you.” You finally say quietly. “I… I didn’t think you thought that about me.”
“‘Course I do.” He says equally as quietly. “Always thought you were pretty.” He glances at you and smirks, “Even when I thought you were weird too.”
You gasp and turn to look at him. “You thought I was weird?”
Bucky laughs and nods. “After you came in the middle of the night for salt? A little. And the fact that you keep calling me James when I’ve told you it’s Bucky.” He raises an eyebrow.
You smile brightly. “You introduced yourself as James. Why would I call you anything else?”
Bucky presses his tongue to his cheek as he tries not to laugh. “Yeah. I’ve regretted that every day since. Nobody’s called me James since the forties.”
You scoff. “I find that hard to believe.”
Bucky looks away. “Well for decades I was referred to as soldat.” He glances down at his hands. He’d stop wearing his gloves around you after you’d spent the night, even told you a little of his story the next morning.
Sam thinks your relationship is weird. You spend the night sometimes and both of you find time to spend together when you can. It’s like you’re dating, but Bucky knows it’s not really like that. He thinks you both bring a sense of calm to one another.
He’s not sure how to shift that, or if you would even want to, into a relationship. He glances back at you with a tense smile. “Steve always called me Buck. Sam calls me Bucky. Last person to call me James was probably my mother.”
“I’m sorry… I never meant to-'' You take a deep breath like you’re preparing yourself for what you're going to say next.
Bucky shakes his head. “It’s fine. I’m not trying to make you feel bad, I was just pointing it out.” He tries to smile reassuringly.
“I was just trying to flirt.” You say so quickly the words sound jumbled together.
It takes him a moment to comprehend what you’ve said. “With me?” He points to himself. The words make his confidence rise exponentially. “You were trying to flirt with me?”
“With you.” You confirm with a slow nod. You start laughing, but it’s soft and happy. “Of course I was! I wanted you to remember me! How could I do that if I called you what everybody else does?”
“I don’t know. Anything else?” He laughs along with you. “I…” He shakes his head with a smile.
You both settle and Bucky hears you inhale sharply. “The salt to come see you and talk, the cookies and treats for Alpine… I’ve had this huge crush on you since you moved in.” You say softly.
Bucky nods, he could see it now. Then he starts laughing again. He feels you smack his shoulder. “I’m sorry… You… Sam said that those cookies and treats were you trying to get me and Alpine to like you.”
You roll your eyes at him. “Keen eye. He saw I was flirting.” You tease gently. “Does it… Does it bother you? Or change anything? The fact that I was flirting?” You ask softly and full of nerves.
Bucky smiles sweetly. “That depends. Do you still want to flirt with me?”
You narrow your eyes, but nod. “I don’t ask just any boy to sleep in the same bed as me.”
“Just me and Alpine?” Bucky nudges your knee with his. You nod softly and he inhales a deep, nervous breath. “It worked.” He says quietly.
You nudge his knee back. “It did?”
He turns to look at you again. You’re already looking up at him with hopeful eyes and Bucky feels his heart race. “Yeah. I like you a lot. I don’t... I haven’t felt this way in a long time.”
A smile breaks out on your face. “I like you a lot too.” You whisper, like you’re afraid anything louder will break the moment.
“Can I kiss you?” He whispers back. You nod excitedly and lean towards him. Bucky places a gentle hand on your cheek as shuts his eyes and leans in.
His chest warms when your lips press against his tentatively, like you’re both still nervous it’s not real. Your lips are soft and Bucky knows his own are chapped, but he feels you smile against him and can’t stop his own smile from overtaking his face.
You pull away, but you’re still close enough that your lips are brushing against his. He’s caught up in the moment staring at you when he feels something rub against his shin.
It makes you pull apart. Alpine is rubbing himself against both your legs and purring softly. Bucky presses a kiss to your cheek.
“Think you won both of us over.”

a faux pair
Summary: you and alpine do not get along
Warning: none!
Pairing: Bf!Bucky barnes x reader
-
If you were water, Alpine was oil. If you were Steve Jobs, Alpine was Bill Gates. If you were a fork, Alpine was definitely the toaster that burnt you to bits. If you were a phone, Alpine would be the water that ended you immediately.
In summary, the two of you did not get along. At all. It was very unfortunate too seeing as you were dating Bucky Barnes. In turn made you stuck with the cute, little demon.
Something soft was tickling the back of your neck, but you're tired and could care less at this point. From Bucky’s point of view, he watches as your hand floats away from his shoulder, so your fingers could graze the back of your neck.
You went back to sleep, but he wasn’t satisfied with that. You yawned the second time and scratched the back of your neck again, nuzzling your face closer to his chest. The third time, he could feel the frustration flowing off of you, as your eyes scrunched then finally opened.
Bucky closed his eyes without delay, letting his mouth hang open as if he was asleep.
“You’re really annoying, has anyone ever told you that before?” you yawn.
“Yeah, Sam let’s me know from time to time” he smirks, not even hiding how guilty he is. “Morning, baby”
He grips your hip, tugging your body up so your face to face then gives you your routine morning kiss/kisses.
“Morning, plum” you recited, it’s amazing how frustration washes away when you look at him.
Bucky would knock the socks off of someone if they ever had the balls to call him plum. Hell, he stopped what he was doing the first time you decided to give him the pet name. But then his heart started doing that weird thing it did when he said or heard things like ‘I love you’. Once he realized you had actually given him a cutesy name to begin with. The nickname didn’t seem so bad after all— plus it was coming from you which was a major bonus.
So, once he sorted his thoughts out, he stared and smiled. A creepy smile if you were the one to tell the story, but you were glad he found it endearing.
You watched him contemplate going in for another kiss. You closed your eyes, puckering your lips. You were ready. Because if there’s one thing about Buck, it’s how much he loves kissing.
If this were a movie. That sound effect where the record scratches to reveal an awkward stop. Would play at this exact moment, you swore that cat could sense whenever you wanted your time with Bucky.
You hear her meowing first and then watch her stretch out at the end of the bed, near Bucky's feet. She walks along the comforter, like royalty, before reaching Bucky's face. Fitting herself between your faces. Her rear to your face, tail whipping in front of your face.
Your hand nudges her tush to the side when you hear his raspy chuckle. as she gifts him kitten licks on his cheeks.
“You have a good sleep? Yea? Can tell” his knuckles scratching her cheek.
The pitch in his voice as he talks to her isn't lost to you. Alpine is literally his child.
You turn on your other side to get your phone.
‘That little––”
Your thoughts get cut short when you feel the extreme body heat of one super soldier on your back. “You alright?”
“She chewed through my charger” you groaned, You twist your head, the first thing that catches your eye is Alpine sitting behind Bucky's body. Eyeing you as if she didn't do it or she could be owning it and was testing you. Licking her paws all while she looked down on you. "And now my phone's dead"
Bucky turns to Alpine, his back to you. Taking the opportunity, you stick your tongue out towards her. Trying to keep your brave face when she throws a deep hiss towards you.
“Aye,” he snaps his finger. “That wasn’t nice, it also wasn’t nice that you destroyed her charger” he reprimands her. It seems to work as she puts down her paw immediately, throwing Bucky those big eyes.
As you’ve said, a literal child through Bucky’s eyes.
He can’t resist, bringing her into his chest and placing a kiss on her head. She purrs when his fingers–– the vibranium ones–– scratch her fur. There’s only two things you and Alpine could agree on. The love for his vibranium arm and the love for Bucky.
“What time is it?”
“9:45. I’m so sorry about that, doll.”
“It’s okay Buck, really. Is it alright if I use yours? I’ll buy a new one on my way to work”
“Go ahead, what do you want for breakfast?”
“Those plum parfaits?” you ask warmly.
“You got it, babe” he kisses you once. “Go hop in the shower”
Watching him walk away, you eye the way his back muscles flex and the way his sweat pants hang low. Low enough to see the band of his briefs. The way his bun hangs low, after tying it back fast last night. It was a perfect mess, with those fly-aways and the strands in front of his face.
You want to scream into your pillow thinking about how this morning should've gone.
-
The shower you take helps you sizzle down. Now you’re walking out of Bucky's room, your hair styled away from your face. Lavender scrubs with paw prints patterned adorning your body.
“Lookin’ hot, doc”
You laugh him off, taking a seat at his kitchen island. Inserting his charger in your phone.
A major paradox with your relationship with Alpine was that you were a veterinarian. Surrounded by different animals everyday, especially cats and dogs.
So imagine your surprise when your boyfriend introduces you to his cat and she doesn't like you very much. You and Bucky assumed she needed time to warm up. She's only around Bucky eight percent of the time, the Avengers for the rest of it. Now, there's this random lady who keeps staying at her owner's place, taking him away.
You’ve gotten along with ninety-nine percent of the pets you interact with. Aside from the ones that weren’t domesticated or hated the vets.
In truth, she seems to be territorial of Bucky.
They say cats, animals in general, can sense energy in people. It seems like a load of crap now.
Bucky takes a seat next to you, sliding you your parfait, holding onto a spoon.
“Thank you!”
“Anything for you” he smiles at you, sticking the spoon deep in the cup.
“Bucky!” you push his hand off the spoon, pulling the spoon up. There’s yogurt on the middle of the spoon and you scowl at him.
You sit and talk with him, laughing or giggling most of the time. his arm naturally around your shoulder.
“I gotta go” you raise from your seat, striding to the sink.
“What?” He checks the time on the stove, “You usually leave in like, 10 minutes.” He recounts this like it’s easy math, remembering your routine to a t.
“I have to go buy a new charger, remember?” Your back is to him.
“Oh...well, I’ll see you later love you”
When you turn around from placing the dishes on the drying rack. Bucky stands a few inches away from the door. Your jacket hangs on his arm, purse in hand, and a pack of treats he picked up at the store clutched in his other hand.
With their meet-cute, he dropped by with the notion of adopting a pet, you could tell a cat was the pet for him. It usually was what all the biggest, broodest men need. So he came by and you guided him, helping him meet cat after cat. Sadly none of them clicked with him.
“How do you know when one is for you?” he asked, an Orange kitten sat in his gloved hands.
“Trust me you’ll feel the bond before you know it” you smiled at him, a senior cat in your arms.
That day you talked him through all the demands of a cat, they aren’t as simple as most people think they are. He listened to every piece of advice you gave him.
By the end of the two hours he spent there. Getting to know every single cat that was a part of the shelter connected to the vet. He went home empty handed and you could see how bummed out he was.
You advised him of two options: you could call him when you had new cats or you could send him to other great shelters.
He chose to look around some other shelters.
You don’t see him until four days later.
You were beginning to spread peanut butter on the lick pad in front of an eager young husky. When a knock was on your door, causing the puppy–– storm–– to bark and howl.
“Come in” you replied. When you looked up Adah poked her head out.
“Hey, Bucky Barnes is here to see you” she couldn’t hold back the sleek look on her lips as she talked.
“Oh, uh,—“ the popsicle stick in your hand falters, giving Storm an easy advance to the peanut butter. You laughed mumbling a sorry to his owners, taking away the lick pad. “I’m still doing his check up, can u ask him if he’ll wait in one of the rooms?”
“Gotcha”
The puppy is all good to go, happy as he gnaws on his treat, and healthy with the shot you had to give him.
You knock on the door Adah told you. Revealing Bucky Barnes sitting in a chair, a cat carrier on the seat next to him. He's talking to the cat in the carrier and you laugh when his head shoots up in embarrassment. Smiling when it washes away to see it's you, when he smiles back
“Hey!” Bucky greets, his hand waving.
“Hey Bucky, is everything alright”
“Everything is perfect. I went to another shelter like you told me and picked her up. I wanted you to meet her.”
Your smile stays at his information, “I’m glad you were able to find a pet. What’s her name?” You asked, sitting in the chair next to him.
“I named her Alpine” he grins, unzipping the carrier.
“It’s a cute name”
You peek in to see a white cat rolling around a plush sushi toy between her paws. She stops when she notices the intruder looking into her temporary home.
When you reach in your hand cautiously, palm down. Letting her get a sniff. You retreat the motion at the sound of her hiss and the image of her canines at attention. You laugh it off awkwardly, embarrassed.
The look on Bucky's face shows his embarrassment, “I’m so so sorry!” He zips the carrier in a wild manner.
“It’s fine—“
“She’s never done that before, really, I took her to meet my friend Sam and his nephews. So I don’t really—“
You could never be mad at that. But he also doesn’t know that, you note as he apologizes profusely.
“It’s fine, Bucky, seriously. I deal with it all the time. She probably enjoys her personal space!” you spring.
He nods his head, letting his hands rest on the carrier.
“I—“ he clears his throat, “I also wanted to ask you something”
“Shoot.”
“‘Was wondering if you wanted to go on a date?”
“That sounds great” you wish you could control how hard you're smiling now. Hoping it matches the charming one on his face.
“Yeah?”
“Definitely”
Ever since then. He's dropped by with the guise of bringing you lunch or that he wanted to see you (which wasn't all the way false.) He couldn't fool you so easily. Because he somehow always had a cool gadget in his hand or treats that he thought the animals would enjoy. Heading to the back to play with, take care of, or clean up after the affirment of animals here. And getting to know your co-workers in the meantime.
“Thank you. I love you, be good” setting a kiss to his cheek then lips.
“I’ll try” chin jutted out to touch your palm.
-
You walk through the familiar doorway. You huff as you hang up your coat and drop your purse on the floor. You stand against the cold metal, loving the contrast from the heat outside. Today was starting so good only to end in complete shit.
“Baby is that you!” you hear Bucky yell from his bedroom.
“No! It’s an intruder” you mumble the last part, absolutely done with this day.
“Funny!” he yells back, it actually wasn’t.
You know he’s coming closer by the heavy footsteps. If he were to live in an apartment he'd definitely get complaints left and right.
Bucky notices almost immediately the frustration within your body language.
“Shit day?” he asks, arms open wide for you.
Your heart melts all while you crash into his chest and let your arms wrap around his waist.
“Yes!” groaning, your face clinging to his chest. “I got pecked by a parrot” you complain, raising the now band aid wrapped pointer finger.
He chuckles at the high-rise pitch in your voice, bringing you finger to his lips so he gives it a gentle peck.
“I’m sorry”
“It’s fine” you pull away, his hands warming your cheeks. “I just want to get in my sweats and watch New Girl”
“You got it,” he tells you lovingly. “You want salted or kettle corn”
“I’m in a salted mood today”
“I’ll get that ready, go change and put the show on”
You had no idea what you did to deserve a guy like Bucky, but you weren’t going to question it as you kissed his cheek.
Walking into his bedroom, Alpine was sunbathing on the catio Bucky built her.
A wooden box with a screen, built on the outside of the house. Letting her lay and relish in the breeze or whatever weather/image would catch her eye.
“Hey Alpine” you say tiredly, going straight for the drawer in the dresser that bc your clothes.
She meows back, walking out of the box, and most likely to the kitchen since that’s where Bucky is at the moment.
When you’re in your sweats and Bucky’s black tee, you stride over to Bucky who’s putting the salt and pan back in their places. Two bowls of fresh popcorn handed to you.
“Thank you!” You cheer, grabbing one bowl.
“You’re very welcome” Bucky replied, kissing your temple as he walked you both to the couch.
He sits first, arms away from his lap to allow you to settle onto his thighs. With utter audacity, Alpine dashes from in front of the television and between Bucky’s legs. Circling a bit before she decides to lay horizontally against his legs.
You stand there like an idiot as she turns onto her back, belly up, requesting for Bucky to rub her tummy.
“Alpine!” Bucky chuckles, giving in as he rubs her belly. “Okay, enough time to move, Al.” His voice is soothing as his thumb goes to run under her chin. Yet, when he goes to move her next to his thigh she meows in protest, clinging to his top, turning herself into liquid.
“It’s all right Buck” you smile, zipping to the spot next to him, as close as possible. A smile on your face as he slides an arm over your shoulders.
“Sorry ’bout that”
You turn your face to his, “It’s all right, I understand the need. It’s best spot in the house”
He laughs in response–– the cute, husky laugh where his eyes squint just a bit–– before he kisses you
-
The night was going perfectly. There was no way you were going to get the spot on Bucky’s lap as Alpine said her Z’s. But the kisses. Squeezes on your shoulder at the abnormal parts to let you know he found something hilarious. Made up for the bad day and you not being able to cuddle with Bucky.
In the middle of the episode, his phone that settles on the coffee table beeped three times.  Catching the attention of everyone, waking up Alpine.
He shuffles forward, to the end of the couch, reaching over to the coffee table. Alpine meows in annoyance.
“Yeah. Yeah. I know, drama queen” he huffs as he sits against the couch once again, tickling the cat’s belly when she argues back.
“Is everything all right?” you ask.
“Yeah…Sam texted me” he sighs, running his vibranium hand through his hair. “Just have a last minute mission in four hours.”
He tries not to let the sight of your eyebrows dropping and your hold on the bowl loosen a little bit, get to him. Tomorrow you had your day off in a while and the both of you had planned a cute date! Bucky feels like complete shit.
“Oh–– well it’s okay plum, we can––”
“It’s not okay, doll. I’m really sorry, but I promise I'll make it up to you when I get back–– Hey! I’ll take you to that extreme milkshake place.” he snaps his fingers when the idea clicks, proud of his quick thinking
“You got a stomach ache last time we went,” you mumble.
“Don’t worry about me. If you wanna go, we’ll go”
“Can we pass by the bookstore after?”
He nods, his thumb rubbing soft circles on your shoulder.
“All is forgiven then” you tease him, your thumb and pointer finger pinching his chin.
“I’m beat, you ready to go to bed, dollface?”
When you yawned a yes. Bucky lifted Alpine so she's cradled in his shoulder–– his literal child. A hand strokes her back while the other holds your waist.  You in front guiding you all to the bedroom.
He rests Alpine in her plush cat tower, her latest obsession with how fast she abandoned her cat bed for it. Then you're both in bed a minute later, chest to chest, as you hold each other close.
-
“Baby” Bucky stands next to your side of the bed, body tilted down as he tries to whisper you awake. But, you don't budge.
When you finally do squint to see the lamp on your nightstand turned on. Springing awake when the blurs clear and you see Bucky standing over you in his tactical gear. Drowned in dark leather, his hair pulled back in a low, sprouting ponytail, and a duffle bag clutched in his hand.
“Bucky!–– You can’t do that, you almost gave me a heart attack” you breathe out, palm covering your face.
The sun hasn’t even risen yet, looking at the clock set on the desk across the room, you see it’s only three-thirty eight.
“I’m heading out,” he whispers.
“Okay, I’ll walk you out” you force a tight lipped smile. Taking Bucky’s offered hand, stepping out of bed. Unwelcome to the way the cold air glides against your legs.
He leads the way, your conjoined hands acting as a link. Before he gets to the door he makes a stop at Alpine’s fortress. You watch in adoration as he kisses her cheek then scratches under her chin. The sound of her purring in her sleep bouncing in the room. The paradox of him in his gear, all masculine and dark, while he says a goodbye to his cat, in utter softness. Isn’t lost to you.
Now you're both standing in the doorway. His duffle bag rests next to the boots on his feet, your hand waffles with his swinging in the small gap between you two.
“Be careful, allright, and tell Sam I said hi and to be careful too”
He smiles at your concern, lifting one hand to kiss the back of it.
“I will doll, don't worry yourself.”
You bring him into a hug, letting one hand rest on his neck while the other cards through his hair. “It’s kind of hard not too” you mumble.
He pulls you back by your waist to send you a pert kiss, “Don’t forget Alpine gets two feedings, half a cup. Nothing more. A treat or two if she’s being good”
You let him finish the rundown.
“Buck we've been together for months, I know what to do. It’s cute how you worry though”
He tickles your waist at your teasing, smiling at you fondly.
A cloud flies over both of your heads, when his phone beeps three times. Messages from Sam you assume.
“Sam is downstairs, I’ll see you later okay, Love you”
“Love you too,” you kiss, your hand holding onto the back of his neck.
You watch him run towards the exit and over his shoulder he shouts, “You both stay out of trouble!”
“We’ll be the best of friends!” you shout, cupping your mouth with your hands.
“That’s what I'm scared of” he says last, blowing you a kiss.
The dynamic between you and Alpine was something he couldn’t not notice. But, he also wasn’t worried, knowing it wasn’t deep. He had his two favorites fighting for his attention, half the time, how could he hate this. He shouldn’t enjoy it as much as he does. He knows at some point whatever is between you two will go to rest.
-
Oh my gosh.
You scoot further to the edge of the bed, away from incessant meowing in your ear. It’s your day off, you want this one thing (to sleep!) As if she had sensed it, she crawled closer. Leaning her mouth even closer to your ears than before.
“Okay, okay” you sit up, looking down at the feline. Her ears tuck back, looking even closer, you watched her make biscuits in the soft sheets.
You rub your eyes of sleep, you should’ve known, you sigh. Now, you feel like an asshole.
“Yeah...I miss him too, but Bucky will be back soon.”
A low, long meow is her response.
“Let’s go get breakfast”
You get out of bed, Alpine paced beside you.
Once you’re in the kitchen, you reach up for a can of cat food, today’s special: tender beef and chicken, placed on the counter. You spread it on her fun feed mat. You also add some salmon flakes.
“There you go” her food placed in front of her then you begin your breakfast, which you planned to eat in the living room.
-
You’re finished with breakfast and enjoying the movie in front of you. It was hilarious, so hilarious you didn’t notice something soft rubbing against your leg. Or the sound of the purring over your laughter. The hair on your leg stands up at the intrusion and you look down to see It's Alpine, obviously.
You move your leg and the shock on your face when she follows it, is very evident.
You assume that because Bucky isn’t here to give her the affection she’s used to, she has no choice but to get her elsewhere.
The shock continues when she jumps on the couch, prances over your leg so she’s sat in the space between your legs. Her head nudges your stomach.
You’ve had your fair share of cats, animals in general, come in for a check up. At first some are bitter as ever, no one likes going to the doctor, but they soften up or at least tolerate for the time being. But this— this is a monumental event, Bucky probably wouldn’t believe.
You grab your phone quickly, taking a picture of her all cuddled up in your lap. Your hand reaches down carefully to caress the white fur. She doesn’t hiss or fight it.
It could honestly make you cry, getting to finally cuddle with Alpine in a way like this. You know she doesn’t hate you, but wants her respectful space away from you.
Picking her up as you lay on your side, Alpine stays close.
“You’re so adorable when you're nice, you know that?” you coo, your finger rubbing under her chin.
“Hi baby” Bucky rasps. He’s in the quintet laying on his back as his hand fiddles with the necklace his love got him for his birthday. The mission was a feat, nothing too harsh for him and Sam. Now, he felt like he was in the 40s, talking to some girl he was tripping all over.
“Hi, how’d everything go?”
“Went fine doll, told you nothing to worry about”
“Well excuse me, but I’m glad to be proven right this one time” you smile.
It’s night time for the both of you and he’s ona quinjet back to you. It’s quiet except for slight snoring of Alpine, who’s laid right next to you.
“How’s pine?”
“She is perfectly fine, sleeping now–– you won’t believe it Bucky.”
“Continue, doll” he laughs at the habit of yours. Always expecting him to guess, by keeping a long pause after each ‘you won’t believe it’ or ‘guess what, Bucky!’
“Alpine and I cuddled today! Like full on cuddled, she rubbed against my leg and sat in my lap. We took a nap while the movie was playing, and now here she is again cuddling with me while she naps.”
“You guys are what?!”
“I know!” you whisper your excitement “She’s a little angel.”
He laughs at your remark, he couldn’t agree more, you somehow pulled the short end of the sticks.
“She do the nose twitch thing when you pet under her chin?” He knows the answer.
“Yes! She likes getting her beans massaged too, it’s adorable” you groan, overwhelmed with a cat so cute. “When are you gonna be  home?”
“Landing around five am, I'm pretty sure. I’ll be there to wake you up before you know it”
-
“Good morning” whispered in your ear.
You groan at the sun then turn around to face a shirtless Bucky, plopped up on his elbow.
“I thought you were gonna wake me up when you got here?”
“A good morning would be nice”
“Good morning, Buck, I thought you were gonna wake me up when you got here?”
He smiles, his index finger hooks under your chin and his thumb takes space on your chin. You let your thumb take a spot on the dimple of his chin.
“You’re cute when you’re sleeping” he murmurs, letting his face get closer to yours. He’s eyeing your lips and barely trying to not be obvious.
It’s so close, so so close to getting your morning kiss when Alpine jumps on the bed. Her meows are off the wall at the sight of Bucky in his spot once again. Bucky jumps away in surprise, bringing Alpine to his chest once she’s close enough.
“Hey girl, missed you too” he scratches under her chin. You can’t even be mad, melting at the sight in front of you.
You turn over to your nightstand...Your phone isn’t charging. Someone was hungry it seems. Inspecting the charger to see bite marks indented all over. When you turn back, Alpine eyes you cutely, telling you:
‘It can’t all be love’
-
It’s Monday morning:
“Bucky, I'm getting ready to leave” you yell, gathering your keys, lunch box, phone, and jacket.
“Okay! Bring me a kiss” he shouts back, from the couch.
You speed to the living room. Walking in on Bucky sitting on the accent chair, Alpine on his lap while he does her daily stretches. He has her up in the air as her arms spread up in the air. Then she’s taking a break cuddled in his lap.
“See you later Buck, be good” you give him a kiss at the end, then reach your hand down to scratch the top of Alpine’s head. “You guys are too precious, just wanna squish you” you coo, your finger pinching Bucky’s cheek. He blushes at the comment, trying to hide his face.
“No we’re not. Right Alpine? We’re manly men” he growls, saying the words in low pitch. You laugh at his goofiness.
You could practically howl when Bucky raises Alpine to your face. In a high pitch voice states, “Need your tires fixed?”
“You’re such a goof, have a good day, see you later” you lean down to kiss him again.
“Drive safe, Dinner will be ready when you get here” he hums, his closed smile thrown up at you almost puts you in a daze.
“Love you”
“I love you”
And you're on your way.
