I know it's quite the topic of debate, but I thought I'd share my thoughts on Strauss getting kicked out of camp anyways.

Just to be clear, Strauss having a place in the gang proves that Dutch doesn't follow his own code unless it benefits him in some way. It's true that Strauss brings in money, but the fact that Dutch said himself that robbing banks is more dignified than usury - loaning money with insane interest to the poor - says an awful lot. He knows exactly what Strauss does to lure in the poor to take up his offers and still allows him to do it.

In a way, Strauss and Dutch are similar in how they lure in the poor and destitute to work for them. That's likely why Dutch has no strong feelings towards Strauss and his work, because they aren't too different from one another.

Common criticisms I see for Arthur kicking out Strauss is how unfair it is since "Strauss is as bad as the rest of the gang". While I would usually agree to an extent, but Strauss is a unique case.

Robbing banks, rich folk in trains, shops and killing lawmen are still big crimes that cannot be downplayed, but compared to deliberately prying on the poor - and offering them loans they will never be able to pay off - is sick work on its own. Especially when Strauss is so nonchalant about it, calling it simply "legal work" with physical abuse involved.

Strauss stayed in the gang because they protected him and he was able to use Arthur as means for guaranteeing payment. It's worth noting how much Arthur despised the work too, he loathed it entirely and his resentment for Strauss built up until he finally took action.

To highlight, majority of Strauss' "clients" were working themselves (and their families) to death even if they were already sick themselves. Families with children, the elderly, the ill, destitute, starving and working themselves ragged to pay off an impossible debt.

And Strauss knows this, that's why he still did it because he knew these poor families had no choice.

Compare that to robbing a train full of rich folk.

Almost laughable, right? The rich can afford to replace their stolen goods, Leviticus Cornwall can afford another train, the city can afford to reimburse the banks. The rich, however, cared very little for the poor. These destitute families had nobody to help them and these loans seemed like answered prayers until they needed to be paid off.

And they were beaten for not being able to pay.

The gang never targeted the poor for just monetary gain, apart from Strauss.

Strauss is a vulture, going for the easy pickings in his work. I believe he deserved to be kicked out and I agree with Arthur that it was long overdue.

juvia and lisanna headcanons pt.2

♡ when lisanna sees gajeel rock up to the guild hall for the first time with pantherlily at his side, she grabs juvia and asks how well she knows gajeel. all it takes is one word from juvia and the four of them are off on a guild mission. pantherlily asks lisanna how she's adjusting and suddenly they're recounting all of their edolas adventures to juvia and gajeel. the two, in turn, talk about their phantom lord days and how they joined fairy tail. to their surprise, lisanna laughs her ass off.

♡ after that, lisanna finally feels a semblance of normality. she goes on missions with juvia the most, sometimes with mira (if the job is simple and close by), and she even goes with gajeel and lily without juvia.

♡ the talking-to-everyone-again pipeline goes juvia -> pantherlily and gajeel -> levy and team shadowgear -> lucy (which lisanna still feels a bit weird about) -> wendy -> natsu and erza. when she finally, finally talks to natsu and erza again, lisanna finds that it's not as scary as she thought it was. they're both rather protective of her, but she supposes it's okay in the guild hall. less flying tables come her way.

♡ lisanna is the one who hypes up juvia to try to talk to gray again. or just get her to stop avoiding him. lisanna gets the deets from erza and cana, learning that their initial interactions were... less than ideal, and after gray flat out rejected her, juvia totally avoided him for fear of straining their relationship more. lisanna, regaining her mischievous streak, straight up shoves juvia to the table when she hears gray talking about the local sea life. awkwardness be damned, marine biology gets both of them talking. later, juvia thanks lisanna for helping her repair her friendship with gray with a small grin on her face.

♡ they gossip sooooo much. it's common to see lisanna and juvia seated at the bar, whispering and giggling to mira as they look over their shoulders at the guild hall.

♡ juvia didn't grow up around a lot of people, so she's very gullible about mundane things. lisanna decided that this is the one area she won't exercise her mischief in. she turns erza levels of scary when natsu convinces juvia that bunnies can hop high enough to get into trees.

♡ juvia likes to bake for her friends; lisanna can't bake to save her life. juvia tries to teach lisanna how to bake and they start a kitchen fire. erza scolds them but she's placated when juvia offers her a piece of homemade strawberry cake.

♡ lisanna is the more sociable of the two, and she's the one who drags juvia to any party going on at fairy tail. juvia usually sticks to gajeel and sometimes levy, but lisanna is elated when juvia agrees to play beer pong. they destroy cana and gray and all four of them end up very, very drunk.

♡ juvia and lisanna team up to tease gajeel. natsu always watches them in slight horror. gajeel usually pulls lisanna into a headlock, ge-he-he-ing.

♡ juvia also feels more acclimated to fairy tail. all of them are, in a sense, "outsiders," but coming together has strengthened their bond as a whole. so when the s-class trials roll around, juvia is both shocked and honored to be considered for it. everyone is cheering, but no one can beat lisanna's or gajeel's energy. they have to choose a partner to help them, and who does juvia choose to help her achieve s-class? her best friend, of course.

Fairy Tail Manga Reread Version

Erza Scarlet - The woman you are.

She’s literally had every single person fooled. This was such a power move. And her smug expression?! Yea she totally ate that up. I just love how the demons are celebrating the fact that she and Natsu destroyed the moon. The moon which is hundreds and hundreds of miles away from where they are. I mean the attempt to destroy it was pretty genius but it’s impossible without more power or technique. But Erza did achieve her goal in the end. Aside from the demons, I just love how Lucy and Gray are having such a hard time believing that the moon was supposedly destroyed. They know it’s impossible but then again it’s Erza they’re talking about. She’s the Queen of impossible and they all know it. It’s like they’re conflicted on whether the moon is destroyed or not. I also love how Erza was able to find the actual problem and solution in the matter of few days (or however long she was there) while fighting against their enemies. I just think this really proves her worth as an S class mage and one of the most powerful members of Fairy Tail. And it’s obvious not all about her strength and swordsmanship because she clearly has a clever mind. The other members (Lucy, Natsu, etc.) at the island are not S class and couldn’t figure out that the islanders were originally demons despite being there for way longer. I really like how the distinction between the mage status was made because it highlights the power levels and abilities to adapt to their surroundings. It’s important for their growth later on in the series. I think it was Mirajane who mentioned that S class missions often have a play between life and death which is why it’s crucial to think things through in a certain way. That’s really emphasized in this situation!
