ok yknow what, fuck it. time for me to lay down a theory of my own about orange

i've been seeing a lot of theories about how orange is wrath (which i support) and how his name is apollo based on the end card (which i ALSO support and it makes me go insane). i've also seen a lot of theories where apollo and logan are brothers, and that got me to think about the sides' functions.

logan, obviously, cannot be orange. he's blue, he's logic, he's rationality. but let's focus on what he isn't, because that's the basis of my theory. logic cannot be emotional. logic cannot be irrational. logic cannot get mad, has to know all the right words and things to say, and he definitely cannot lose himself to his emotions.

so logan, one day, decided that he doesn't need to deal with all of that. perhaps as a young side he lashed out and realized thomas would not benefit from his emotional outbursts. and with the power of creativity (i like to imagine that this was before remus and roman's split), logan helped put away all of that nastiness.

just turns out that it couldn't just disappear, and a new side was born.

apollo is everything that logan isn't. while logan never got rid of his own emotions, he did project all of that onto apollo, who he also named (because probably thomas started to learn about greek myths at the time). so in essence, apollo is logan's son, but they don't tend to think of themselves like that. more like brothers, but not twins like roman and remus are. logan is the older brother, and apollo is a child. (also apollo and logan? i think its cute they can call each other lo)

apollo is, essentially, just a mess. he's angry, he's emotional, he has tantrums, and also doesn't know big words. janus helped take care of him (as well as the twins) since he was one of the first sides to appear, so he's the designated caretaker. its only after the lights split from the darks was when apollo went with jan instead of logan.

not many sides know about apollo's existance. obviously janus and logan know, but they're the only ones that know his name. everyone else knows him as wrath and only remus knows he's logan's brother. patton and roman know there's another side, but apollo keeps himself hidden most of the time.

let's not forget that he's still logan's little brother. even if he's everything logan is not, they still share similar abilities. he's the only one logan gets mad at, so a common sight (no one can see) is them glaring at each other orange-eyed. and it's apollo's influence on logan that gives him some of his rage back. logan never gave his anger away, only supressed it.

and now it's coming back, and apollo is thrilled that his brother is becoming more like him.

Me and Briar want to make a post with all our favourite female characters but the amount of "where's Shera?" comments would be tiring. I feel like I should broach this subject. I hate Shera. For various reasons.

I dislike it's creator for various problematic parts of the show, I dislike the way, mainly, it props up a cis wlw romance above all other representation it has. (My opinion is that if you put so much rep into a show it should be done well.) The main characters (Catra and Adora) are respectively mediocre and not articulated well and then an extremely dislikable protagonist. (Glimmer was the most well written.)

Catra is mediocre as a mean girl because everything she does isn't that bad and she's right about everything except the hoard being good in respect to her and Adora's relationship, and while normally I wouldn't be actively willing to let her off the hook on that one, Adora never explains anything to Catra properly in a way she knows she would understand and Adora's radicalization happens within a literal day.

So I don't support her support of the hoard but I do think Adora should've met her in the middle way more, because they were extremely close friends. Catra should've been more horrible to her. All of this makes no sense if you have no frame of reference for this type of mean girl character but if you do you're nodding along.

Adora is incredibly annoying who the series props up as a good person and doesn't acknowledge any of her flaws to the proper degree in which they need to be addressed. But she also didn't deserve for them to gaslight her over the writing team redeeming her abusive mother. (Which was a terrible decision.)

But I still think like Catra she's pretty shit if you know the type of character she's trying to emulate. I would describe these two as mediocre and annoying but it wouldn't be as annoying as it is if everyone didn't think they were the bee's fuckin' knees.
