Just an aside to my tournament experience post: the venue also hosts Star Wars Legion and Warhammer tables, and the terrain there ist just beautiful - but see for yourself:
Tumblr media
Yes. That is an impressive recreation of Mustafaar! Just imagine playing there!

From the deserts of Tattoine, to the barren wastes of Hoth and the ruins of Yavin IV, and the lush forests of Endor - no planet is spared in the conflict between Rebellion and Empire.

Also the Warhammer tables were works of art!
Great work from the organizers!

You down with OPOP? (Other People’s Organized Play) Yeah, you know me. Join Bryan, Charles, and Marcos as we have special guest Niccolo Paqueo. Niccolo has been an L2 judge in the Flesh and Blood Judge Program for several years, and the current team lead for the FaB Rules Team. We discuss their game, their organized play, and similarities and differences with Magic Judging. Spoilers: Running Magic events and running FaB events are pretty similar, except when they aren’t.

DP x DC: Ghost x Family
So, back on my cute romcom BS
So the premise. Dani, as Danny's speed grown clone, wasn't the most physically stable. Turns out, it's really hard to speed grow a clone, and even harder when ectoplasm is involved. There's not enough time for the structures to properly stabilize and that leaves the cellular structure pretty weak and prone to breaking down into goo. The ecto dejecto was just a temporary solution and other measures were needed
aka Dani had to essentially grow a body from scratch the old fashion way, so she's now physically her actual age minus a couple months
So Danny, at the age of 20, is the father of a 4 year old Dani and is trying to keep a low profile in Gotham. His and his daughter's existence is still illegal, and being the single father of a 4 year old ghost girl isn't exactly easy. Now Danny has to deal with the very real threat of CPS being called on him by a neighbor, and trying to get Dani into school without either of them having papers for their assumed identity of Danny and Dani Nightingale and money to by fake documents. He'd ask Tucker, but that requires braking radio silence and potentially putting a target on all three of their backs.
Danny, desperate, asks his neighbor Jason to pose as his significant other for a meeting. Jason agrees, but things escalated and frankly he's now emotionally invested and committing to the bit
So now he and Danny have legally been married for about 4 months according to the papers Babs made them. The fake ID, birth certificates, SSNs, and high school diploma for the Nightingales were simple enough for her to do, but man Jason is going to owe her a BIG favor for this.
They move in together, Dani goes to a good private school, Jason is effectively Danny's sugar daddy paying for a sizable chunk of all this, and they are committing to the loving married couple bit, which is hard to do when the new in-laws are detectives
The best part?
Danny has not figured out Jason is the Red Hood, and Jason doesn't know about the ghost stuff. The only one that does? Dani, and she is physically and mentally 4 and watching Jason and Danny fall in love
oh the shenanigans
OR
I've been watching SPY x FAMILY and just need the fake relationship/family turns into a real relationship/found family dynamic. Jason is basically Loid, Danny is pretty much Yor, Dani fills the role of Anya, and uncle Dick is Yuri, except he's doting on Dani.
Dick is a smart man, but I love the headcanon that Jason is his emotional blindspot. Jason? MY Littlewing? He couldn't possibly.

under-realized horror concept from Danny Phantom #714298: ecto-acne.
In the show it's basically a joke. Haha! Vlad's life-ruining ghostly medical disaster... was acne! The proto-portal accident gave him ghost pimples! This is relateable humor for teens!
But damn when you think about it. There is ectoplasm, the very essence of something dead, rolling and roiling under your skin. Your living body is trying to reject this dead thing that is part of you; your skin bubbles, warps, pops under the strain of your body trying to reject itself, your body trying to force this otherworldly thing out of you. Your skin is twisting and cracking as it slowly kills you, your body destroying itself trying to get it out.
But from the outside sure, haha acne, right

Something about the way his wings droop onto the floor…
I don’t know how to explain how this scene impacted me… the contrast of the cathedral with his angelic presence, the piercing echo of the organ as you approach, I could feel the anger radiating off the way he played…
But I might just be a little silly about it all and a bit too into the storytelling here

Aaand off to the next international adventure! Spending a weekend in Rome to play Armada is as fun as it sounds! There‘s the world open qualifier, and I participated in day 1a (Friday) as one of eight players.
Tumblr media
First game was against a Moralo Eval list that just chewed through my list. Seriously. That guy is broken. 2:9.
Tumblr media
See above - my squadron component gone. At least I took Moralo with me.
Tumblr media
Game 2 was against another imperial list: a Warlord-VSD, a rare sight! Complemented by a small fighter wing, an Interdictor and a Gozanti:
Tumblr media
I outmaneuvered the speed 2 ships, killed the (Most Wanted) Gozanti and finished off the squadrons! 8:3 for me.
Game 3 was challenging as well; facing my first Onager:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Superior Positions played, me Player 2. Again, a sweeping move over a flank, avoiding the Onager as good as possible, taking down the enemy fighters and killing an Arquitens in the last turn! 7:4!
Last game was against my travel companion. He disengaged, resulting in a 5:6 loss without any shots fired or damage received.
Overall a mediocre performance - but well enough to qualify me for Sunday!

I don't think I'll ever get over how Organization XIII was hyped up as this super nefarious villain group but then you get to their game 358/2 Days and they treat it like a job. A 9-5 soul crushing job. They have their daily menial tasks and then they go home and wash, rinse, repeat with little else occupying their lives. Even their hobbies and pastimes seem so limited, although you can arguably chalk that up to the game just not being interested in developing them like that (which is part of why the manga is great, because it has a tendency of developing them in ways the main writers aren't interested in). From the way they talk about it, they almost sound like they work at an office sometimes. A very bizarre, particularly backstabby office, but still. It's a soul crushing job AND a weird cult all at once and it's treated with this mundanity that's both hilarious in a way I didn't really get when it first came out and oddly humanizing.
I know for some dumb reason they didn't do a remake of Days and it's harder to access because of that, but if you can and it interests you enough to where you've wondered if it was worth playing, I really recommend playing it or watching a playthrough of the actual game instead of just the cutscenes. The story really is partly told through the mechanics and so much is lost when they just gave us the cutscenes pulled from the game in the compilations.
They really reinforce how bleak and mundane Roxas' life is most of the time, how bleak and mundane most of the members' lives are. How much control the Organization has over them. You don't just level up organically like in other kh games, you have to do this weird puzzle thing that limits your growth and abilities. They don't give you munny, they give you heart points that you can only use at the moogle shop in their castle, so they're literally paid in scrip. If you're unfamiliar with it, scrip is a currency you can only use in certain places instead of throughout a whole country or other type of political union like the eu, usually with the store at the company you work at. When you're on missions your path is blocked off, you can only go to certain areas that are directly related to your daily mission. It's suffocating and genius, especially since in most other series entries you get so much freedom comparatively.
With all that context it starts making some of their vices a bit more understandable. Can you really blame Demyx for not wanting to do his work when all he gets out of it is room and board, and the distant, vague promise of maybe someday getting a new heart? Especially since he's probably been with the Organization for years?
Can you really blame Marluxia and Larxene for wanting to mutiny when their boss is useless and all of their colleagues seem indifferent to it? I mean like. The murder isn't great. I'm still a bit sore about that. But I can definitely get behind the 'screw our boss' sentiment. I'm still very fond of my 'instead of going the cloak and dagger route Larxene and Marluxia somehow, possibly with the help of devil magic, manage to get everyone to cooperate so they can unionize and kick Xemnas out' au. An Organization XIII union au, if you will. Imagine Xemnas having to explain that to the other Xehanorts.
Master Xehanort: The people you gathered up for us to use as our vessels. Unionized?
Xemnas, the biggest loser in the entire series: :/
