I can hear you my friend,
Even though I don't recognize your face,
I can sense your fear,
Even though we are far apart, I share it.
The same land has nursed us,
The same mother, air and centuries,
Mine and your sanctities are the same,
But inhumane people divide all.
The same heart beats in our chests,
From the same cloth woven are our souls,
Mine and your sanctities are the same,
But inhumane people divide all.
ref.
Pride shines in our eyes,
Because my heart beats the same as yours,
Our Soul Metohija,
Is a part of those who speak and spell Serbian
Kosovo, Kosovo,
In my soul, the bells are ringing
For you Kosovo.
Protect our holy land,
All our prayers aspire unto God,
To many misdeeds and atrocities,
The sanctities remain voiceless,
If they could speak they would be crying out
And all the bloodied land
I can hear it whispering to me:
"Don't give me up child, I'm Serbian for eternity."
Take care my friend,
With song and prayer I embrace you,
Testament we keep,
Wherever we are, it is in our hearts, I know
That the prayer goes up to heavens
Ljeviška, our mother, protect us
In your heart keep for eternity
The covenant of Kosovo.
Today’s photo with the most hits: the Kykkos Monastery, Troodos Mountains, Cyprus. There are fabulous frescoes on the upper walls of the portico’d cloister. This scene: the conversion of St Paul on the way to Damascus.
Northeast of the town Aleksinac, near the source of the St. Stepehn’s river in the village of Lipovac, there is a MONASTERY OF THE HOLY ARCHDEACON AND THE FIRST MARTYR, STEPHEN. Above today’s monastery, on the rock Leskovik, there was a fortified medieval town of Lipovac, which was the fortress of the Serbian despotate. It was occupied in 1413 by Musa, the son of the Ottoman Empire’s ruler Bajazit. Originally, the monastery was dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, but despot Stefan Lazarevic and his brother Vuk donated vineyards and help to the monastery for the construction of the narthex, so the name of the monastery “Sveti Stefan” became popular among the people. The monastery is also mentioned in Turkish writings.
Today’s temple was most probably built in 1399. It was built on the foundations of an older necropolis from the 10th century. The church was built in the Moravian style, with rectangular basis and with three architectural pieces. The first, smallest part of the church was built by a nobleman, whose name has unfortunately not been preserved. He was buried with his wife and their three children in the southwestern part of the Church. The family died of a serious illness, as indicated by the eight tombs in the crypt. In one grave, there is also a 15-year-old boy buried with a noble belt, which indicates that he was the last descendant of that lineage, which was extinguished by his death.
