Space - Model Making and Orthographic Drawing

Week 7 - EDAM

Due to a personal matter week 6 was missed….however I caught up with the key points and drawing techniques during the session.

This project consists of model making - the theme being space - then interpreting it through photography and drawing. To do this, the session consisted of drawing cubes with differing angles, to show different viewpoints and to enable shapes to be created within the cubes.

I decided to create a space station using recycled material. This is the starting point and inspiration for a creative piece.

trying to develop a semi-phonetic vowel system for my dutch tengwar mode. this sucks ass <- is enjoying it but also it’s hard :(

#it’s not fully phonetic bc I want it to at least slightly resemble dutch orthography to make it at least kinda intuitive for native speakers #who don’t want to constantly have to look up the ipa bc they forgor (me) but it’s definitely more phonetic than my current system which is #pretty much purely orthographic so #elli rambles #much of that can be helped by for example /ɛ/ and /e/ being one and two e-tehta(r) respectively #and ​similar things can be done with the i and o and u tehtar (for long a I use a flipped a-tehta) #but what about /ø/? /œ/? #and of course the whole Thing with /u/ /ʏ/ and /y/ orthographically being oe u and uu #& the u tehta—at least in tolkien’s modes—being used for /u/ #like which do I choose for the u and double u tehtar and what do I do with the one that’ll be left #anyway. The one thing I remember about you as a writer is in Till Then your oc Benjamin. Who the reader never meets. But I feel like I know him so well from Damian's dialogue about him. I'd never had that happen to me before.

Oh that's fantastic actually, thank you, I'm very pleased to hear that! It really makes me want to take Till-Then out of mothballs and get to the end.

It got shelved because I was writing it at a time when DC kept tearing down and rebuilding their multiverse system every year or so, and I reconceptualized how I was handling the timelines to comply with the new multiverse mechanics twice before I gave up.

At this point I feel like the story might have been left far enough behind by canon (and possibly fanon also) to be charmingly retro instead of just out of sync and behind the trend lmao. Also DC kind of gave up the pretense of having coherent rules so I can do what I want eh?
