Steve huffs as he kicks a pebble down the street. It bounces a few times before settling on the sidewalk, doing nothing interesting enough to alleviate his boredom. He turns around, squinting against the sun shining in his eyes, and looks at his parents. His mother is speaking quietly to a woman with a shawl around her shoulders, both of them bent over some book that definitely should have been crumbling by now. His father idly taps at bricks on the building next to them, looking relaxed but alert.
Steve glances at the building his parents are avoiding, the one the woman with the shawl walked out of. It’s a pale, faded yellow, the kind that tells him the building is old, old enough to have seen wars and generations pass it by. Shingles line a low roof, but something that’s either incredibly durable wood or stone so old it’s turned brown makes up the vaguely mountain-shaped top that reaches to the sky. Steve studies the building, his eyes wandering until he sees the door cracked open on the side.
He takes a slow step towards it, checks that neither of his parents noticed, and takes another. This continues until he’s in the shadow of the building, his fingers brushing against the wood. It’s cool against his skin, and the door isn’t nearly as heavy as it looks. He pushes lightly against it, an eager feeling building in the pit of his stomach as he slips inside.
A dimly lit hall made of stone sprawls out in front of him, and Steve hums softly as he passes by the paintings and scraps of scroll that are framed along the wall. He recognizes Hebrew on all the scrolls, but he doesn’t linger long enough to read any of it. Instead, he continues to walk, glancing through an opening that leads into a sanctuary. The opening is to the left of the bema, and he’s momentarily caught by the ark that contains the Torah. He can’t even see the holy scrolls, but something in his spine jerks and he’s overwhelmed by the urge to open the doors so he can gaze upon them.
He’s already going to get in trouble for slipping inside, though. Maybe he shouldn’t make it worse. Steve grasps this thought tightly, holding it in his mind until he’s able to tear his gaze away and continue walking down the hall. Other than that opening, there’s only one door left at the very end. It, too, is made of wood and opens far easier than Steve expected.
Shafts of sunlight stream in through narrow windows, illuminating dust that floats in the still air of an undisturbed staircase. Steve looks down at the first steps, crouches, and drags his finger carefully over the stone. A layer of dust comes off, and Steve comes to the conclusion that nobody has been up these stairs in a long, long time.
With a grin, Steve begins to climb.
The stairs wind up and up, far higher than Steve thinks should be possible given the height of the building itself, but what does he know? He just focuses on climbing, on reaching the top as he passes narrow window after narrow window, breathing in stale air that stirs in his lungs and builds. Strangely enough, he’s not breathless from the climbing, but from something else entirely. He isn’t able to name that feeling until he finally (finally) reaches the top of the stairs.
As he stands on the top step and looks over the loft spread out before him, he realizes it was anticipation. Like the stairs, this attic-loft is covered in dust, untouched by people for a very long time. A large window is opposite the stairs, allowing sunlight to stream into the area. The space holds a desk, a bed, more books than Steve has ever seen before, and a statue.
Steve stares at the statue, licks his lips nervously, and steps into the room. He doesn’t spare the books or anything else a second glance, instead making a beeline for the statue. It’s huge, towering over the twelve-years-old Steve even though it’s sitting. Its legs are crossed, and its hands are held palm-up just above its navel. The statue is round and smooth, not a straight edge in sight. It doesn’t have a neck, and its head is like a little bump on its shoulders, just big enough to hold triangle-shaped divots for eyes. Carefully placed next to the statue is a small clay jar and a paintbrush.
Without thinking, Steve picks up the jar and looks inside. Golden-hued paint shimmers inside, and Steve wonders how it hasn’t caked over or disintegrated after all this time. He tilts the clay pot a few times, watching the paint slide against the edges, and then looks up at the statue again. At second glance, he sees that the statue’s head is big enough for more than just its eyes. He could probably write on it, too.
With that thought, Steve grabs the paintbrush and very carefully pokes his foot against the statue’s leg. It seems strong enough, so he climbs up, following the statue’s calf to its knee. From there, he carefully holds the paintbrush with his teeth so he can steady himself on the statue’s arm. Once he has, Steve pulls himself up onto the statue’s hands, finding himself at the perfect height to reach its forehead.
Steve holds the paintbrush and dips it into the jar. The brush comes out covered in the gold paint, and Steve pauses, looking at the statue’s forehead.
He remembers a story his mother once told him about this very city, this very building. It involved a statue like this one, a golem, that was brought to life to protect his mom’s ancestors. Steve hums softly and carefully paints aleph, mem, tav on the statue’s forehead. His mom will find it funny when he brings her up here to show her the “golem” he found.
As he finishes off the tav, giving it a pretty little flourish just for the fun of it, the ground beneath him jerks. No, not the ground. The hands he’s standing on. Steve yelps, losing his balance and about to fall only to be cradled and carefully set on the ground.
Steve blinks, looking up at the golem to see it leaning down and staring at him expectantly. “Uh. Hi,” he says, breathless as he receives a small nod and wave in return. “Holy shit.”
Before he can say more, he hears a familiar voice in the distance shouting, “Steve! Where are you?”
Keeping his eyes on the golem, Steve sets the jar and paint down, scooting back along the floor until he reaches the top of the stairs. “I’m up here!” he shouts, hearing a muffled curse and the slam of a door far below. He sighs and stands, slowly approaching the golem.
“You’re really real,” he mumbles, stopping in front of the golem as he hears someone running up the steps.
He turns just in time to see his father reach the attic, guns at the ready, and panting from adrenaline and the climb. “What the fuck is that?!” he shouts, aiming the guns at the golem without thinking.
“Don’t shoot it!” Steve yells, barely getting the words out before he’s scooped into the golem’s arms and completely covered by its hands. The world goes dark, and he’s pressed close enough to the golem’s chest that all he can smell is pomegranate and the old ink and paper of Talmud studies.
“It’s holding you captive, and you’re telling me not to shoot it?!” his father asks.
“It’s protecting him!” his mother shouts, her voice shrill and panicked enough about his father shooting a golem to make Steve almost laugh.
Steve wiggles around, tapping the golem’s chest. “Those are my parents,” he says, “Please let me down.”
After a few seconds of hesitation, the golem does, carefully and slowly placing Steve on his feet once more. Its hands stay on either side of him, looking ready to pull him back into its protective embrace. His father looks harried, but his mother looks awed as she steps forward. The golem allows her to approach, and she carefully runs her fingers over the golem’s arms. “This is amazing, Steve,” she says softly.
“Can we please step away from the dangerous statue now?” his father asks, taking a step forward only to stop when the golem suddenly stands and towers over him. “Uh, what’s it doing?”
“You’re not Jewish, Rick,” Steve’s mother says, looking over her shoulder. “The golem is a protective figure in Jewish folklore, among other things. It’s most famous stories are about keeping Jewish towns safe from pogroms. It’s wary of you.”
“I’m your husband!” Steve’s father protests, angrily shoving his guns back into their holsters, “And Steve’s father! We should be on the same team!”
“It’s okay,” Steve says, walking over to his father and taking his hand. “I just have to introduce you.” With that, Steve leads his father over to the golem, placing his father’s hand on its arm, and saying, “This is someone you should protect, too.”

After explaining everything, with plenty of interruptions from the kids after they came running back into the living room to escape Uncle Jonathan’s gin, Steve’s parents demanded to see the lab where it all started.
And now they’re here, standing in one of the lower levels, surrounded by dead vines that still haunt Steve’s nightmares on particularly bad nights. If he’s lucky, he won’t have one of those while his parents are home, but Steve has never really called himself lucky in situations that don’t involve life or death.
The wall that once held a gate to the Upside Down is nothing more than charred cement, reduced to a jagged line of something Steve really hopes is soot and not, like, disintegrated demogorgon. He carefully makes his way through the vines, avoiding them when he can and holding his breath whenever he has to step on one.
“Did you know this was a lab?” Rick asks, his voice echoing in the hall ahead of them.
“Of course, not,” Evelyn replies, and Steve can picture the glare she’s aiming at him. “I wouldn’t have let our son live here if I’d known.”
“Well,” Eddie says, “I, for one, and very relieved Stevie lived here considering several of us would be dead without him.”
“Me, too,” Dustin says.
“Me three,” El says.
“I think Steve and I would’ve found each other even if he wasn’t in Hawkins,” Robin says, nudging Steve’s ribs with her elbow as she grins. “Platonic soulmates can’t he kept apart.”
Steve snorts and stops when he reaches the wall. He looks around and notices the corpse of a demodog a few feet away. Or, well, he thinks it’s a demodog corpse. “Stay here,” he says, tightening his grip on his bat as he takes a step closer to it.
“Hold it right there, young man,” his mother says, her tone bringing him to an immediate halt. “Your father will go towards the monster, and you will stay a safe distance away.”
“Gee, thanks for asking,” Rick mutters, rolling his shoulders as he makes his way over to the demodog corpse. He studies it for a second before just kicking the thing with his foot. Steve nearly jumps in to yank his father back, but stays frozen in place by Robin’s hand coming to rest on his shoulder.
His father kicks the corpse again, and Eddie suddenly asks, “Why do I feel like this is disrespectful?”
“Because it used to be alive,” El offers.
“It’s definitely not anymore,” Rick says, crouching down and using the barrel of his gun to push back one of the petals on its head. “Shit, what’s it need so many teeth for?”
“The better to eat you with,” Steve says, earning a snort from Robin and Eddie.
“And there were how many of these?” Evelyn asks.
“Dozens. Like, multiple packs, and they were all connected by this hive mind kinda thing,” Dustin explains, walking over to the corpse with no fear. “I mean, they weren’t all bad. Dart was okay.”
“He ate your cat,” Steve says.
“Yeah, and then he didn’t eat us in the tunnel.”
“I can’t believe you were facing these things and didn’t use your guns to spare some girl’s feelings,” Rick says, looking at Steve over his shoulder.
“I can’t believe you didn’t just use the golem,” his mother says, frowning as she turns to Steve. “I mean, you know where it is, dear. You know how to bring it to life.”
“A golem? Like…from Lord of the Rings?” Dustin asks.
“You had a golem? Why didn’t you tell me you had a golem?” Eddie asks.
“How did we not think of the golem? Holy shit, we’re dumb,” Robin says, smacking her forehead with her palm.
“I couldn’t trust that it wouldn’t hurt one of my friends,” Steve says, ignoring Dustin for now. “It would only protect me and Robin. If something happened to one of us, it would abandon the kids without question. What’s the point then?”
“Hello! Confused people over here!” Dustin shouts, getting their attention. “What golem?”
“You know,” Robin says, “like…of Prague.”
“No, still lost,” Dustin says.
Steve sighs, about to explain it when Eddie beats him to it. “The golem is from Jewish folklore,” he says, tilting his head as he looks at Steve, “It was created and brought to life by a rabbi in Prague to protect his congregation from pogroms and acts of antisemitism. There are debates on why he had to disintegrate the golem, though. Some stories say it started killing innocent people, others say it fell in love, and others say the congregation were using it to do chores instead of letting it focus on protecting them.”
“Yes, exactly,” Evelyn says, smiling at Eddie and nodding with approval, “The golem doesn’t speak much, but it can answer basic questions. According to it, Rabbi Loew removed its aleph because it requested to go to sleep.”
“Oh, so it just wanted a nap,” El says, nodding as though this makes perfect sense to her.
“You said you had the golem,” Eddie says. “Where?”
“At the house,” Steve replies, watching as his father stands from the corpse and drags Dustin away from it. “I keep it in the locked room downstairs.”
“You said that was your parents’ room,” Dustin says.
“No, you assumed it was, and I never corrected you.”
“Can I see it?” Eddie asks.
Steve looks up, meeting Eddie’s gaze. After a few seconds, he nods once and looks at his parents. “Did you see what you wanted?” he asks, “Can we head back?”
“Yeah,” Rick says, frowning as he nudges a vine with his foot. “I’ll come back later with Ardeth. See if he knows anything that might help.”
“What do we need help with?” Dustin asks. “The portal is closed for good. We closed it.”
“There’s nothing wrong with making sure,” Evelyn tells him, smiling reassuringly before turning back the way they came. “Now that Rick and I are here, we’ll do everything we can to make sure those gates never open again.”
“And if they do,” Rick says, bringing up the rear as the kids follow Evelyn, “we’ll take care of it. You kids don’t need to put yourselves in danger anymore.”
Something in Steve settles at hearing this, his next exhale taking all the stress that had made its home between his shoulders with it. For the first time in a long time, he thinks about something normal. He glances at Eddie and Robin and thinks about going to see a movie with them, drinking at the lake, and just being stupid teens that don’t have to worry about interdimensional monsters.

continuation of this post!
sighs as I place this bad boy down
So I had this big idea of something I wanted to do for my mutuals. So basically, my love language is gift-giving, right? I wanted to draw a headshot and a little sketch page of the yuusonas/yuus (or just any character of my mutuals) and gift it to them!! Either for being my mutual and putting up with my incoherent daily screaming or whatever.
Now here's what happened:
Life happened, not enough time happened, and at one point I started to really dislike how I drew the current headshots :')))). My style had begun to change when I looked back on this and it bugged me so much that I'm currently abandoning this batch and starting from square one again orz.
Regardless, the characters (in order from left to right) belong to @ai-0uch, @twstlibrary, and @twstedstoryshop !! So sorry that I didn't do your characters justice
But anyway, if you want separate headshots of them lmk! Trust me, I'll do them right one-day orz

While I have to develop the lore more, there is this specific Savanaclaw student who particularly likes giving Ru a hard time. I just wanted to draw the aftermath of said fight! You'll see that his clothes are a bit burnt at some parts and that's because it's hard to win a fight where magic is being used against you

Hii I'd like to give a lil suggestion about your rewrite character's name. Considering how the story gives off fantasy, mystical and even medieval vibes for that matter, look for names along similar lines. Like Xian totally fits the vibe but since it reminds many people of a guy (all thanks to genshin heh) maybe Xia would be more accurate.I personally like the name Raya coz it fits both ancient and modern au and has an aura to it. Im kinda out of characters here so ill j do an ask2 sorryy :3

I definitely have it in mind to give the protag a meaningful name, but at the same time we have to keep in mind that the protag is not from a fantasy/medieval world and is really just a regular person from our modern world XD; so it'd be out of place to give her a name that doesn't fit in with her background, which is that of a student (keeping this in the rewrite!)
I didn't want to reveal the chinese characters that makes up Xian's name yet since it's still up in the air (pending meaning and whether it is a strange character combo to have in current society) but definitely even this placeholder name isnt there willy-nilly without meaning to it hahaha once I have decided on a more solid name, I'm giving her the same treatment I gave a different character in the rewrite...and that is the Chinese parents/Asian family check! hahaha I ran through any characters that had a Chinese name through my family to get their thumbs up XD;
And I guess if this and the previous asks didnt reveal it already, atm the protag is of Chinese ethnicity; one or two other characters are too. It's definitely a colorful cast at the moment with characters of varying backgrounds haha... one of the things I'm struggling on in the rewrite right away is deciding proper names and backgrounds for each character whilst balancing it with that of their Hyquile counterparts orz (on that note, I am quite happy with a small fun fact regarding his name that I created for the OC that takes over Kuroo!)
As for when the next chapter of GWS is coming out, I do not have a set date for it unfortunately. I write when I can but I have priority on commissions and life atm (work hasn't been kind to me for the past year, and it's been acting up again recently... if things go south I might be jobless by the end of the year so it's a point of stress rn OTL). Due to that, I havent been able to work on C38 as much :(

so since you're up to ryoji, any conclusive thoughts on the new vas, if any?
I'm not that far. He only just showed up and I got one rank in.
.....Let's just say shit hit the fan for me on Thursday and I've gotten REALLY busy....ummmm.....fixing it so I can get back to my normal routine? Is that the best way to describe it (I still have stuff to do, but I'm not longer in "emergency mode")? I haven't picked up any game stuff since then (I literally passed out yesterday night cause I was so tired jfkldsjf). (oh wait, I'm so out of it I misread it as only asking about Ryoji....lol, well I'm talking about him first I guess, )
Going off the one interaction....... Yuri. I prefer Yuri. I already preferred Yuri's Pharos to Aleks' Pharos. I like both as MC.
There's something about Yuri's........Between OG/FES/P and the manga...... But Aleks' Ryoji feels more like it fits the P3 movies (same with Ikutsuki tbh). There's something about THAT portrayal of Ryoji that hits different compared to the other's.
THAT BEING SAID. I'll take Aleks. BUT ONLY if that means we can have Yosuke going back to not sounding as squeaky. TT0TT I can handle Adachi's voice change (feels like he decided to put on a more deranged mask). But Yosuke I want him back to sounding chiller. orz

Um....Aki's ok. I don't mind him. There's something about Liam's voice I prefer BUT, I wouldn't mind the new guy coming back.
Junpei is good (both in general and as a replacement). Keep him (if I have to deal with Junpei again that is)
Mitsu is good. I prefer Tara tho. Nothing against the new girlie, Tara's just one of my fav VAs. (the other VAs I like are Naoto's OG, Laura Bailey, Lily Vonnegut, Jamie Marchi, Kristen Bell, David Gallagher, and KH1!Haley Joel Osment, Santino Fontana...something about their cadence makes my brain go brrrrr but like for diff reasons)
Speaking of Brrrr, I really like Yuko's and Shinji's a lot.
Both old and new Shinji are great. Love them.
Love the new Ken. I never hated his OG, and Cindy did a good job too. But the new one is really good.
Fuuka......she's cute (I'm more annoyed that they didn't add to her at all so far :'D thanks atlus). I miss the OG one. Wendee Lee did great too (she always sounded like a higher pitched ver of the OG to me).
I think I liked both Natsuki's VAs? I do miss the old one. I can't recall the new one's voice atm TT0TT
Koro is fine lol
I don't like Takaya's new VA. I like the old one give him back.
I think I like this Chidori VA more? I didn't mind the old one. (also Chidori run, stay away from Junpei TT0TT)
Jin.........I think I like him more?
Ikutsuki. Prefer the old one. New one would be good for the movie ver tho!
I miss the old Igor. Gimme back Dan Woren you cucks! TT0TT Kirk is fine but I want Dan back! (wait Dan is Byakuya from Bleach???? Gimme him back! TT0TT)
Aigis is better. I didn't mind the old one, but this was an improvement.
All the VAs for the SLs are great so far tbh (haven't done Moon yet, not cause I don't want to, but because it's optimal if I wait)

I think the thing that irks me about the new voices are.......the new voices for the already existing secondary/background chars (chars who were never voiced before? no problem). I. DON'T. LIKE. THEM.
"Oh but it's cool to hear!" or "We need Yuri to still get a check" I don't care. I don't like it. It's weird. It's weird hearing P3MC's voice coming out of Yukari's dad ("oh like Aki's is any better?" AKI ISN'T A LOVE INTEREST FOR YUKARI OUTSIDE HC! TT0TT)
I hate that they swapped Mitsu's dad and Kurosawa. Did they eat? Yea, they did great. Does it bother me because I find it COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY???? YESSSS!
My 9/11 is the damn principal's voice being changed. oh my god, it's not the same. He was so perfect in the OG, he was bumbling it just.....god it worked. The new guy.....doesn't give the same doddering vibe. man orz (I know most people are coming for the new Aki guy, or someone else, but man I'm very annoyed by the NPCs being changed orz)
I think one of THE BIGGEST issues I have with them just....redubbing the whole damn thing is (MORE SO the side NPCs than the main cast).....just how costly that must've been. Like stupidly costly, like they didn't need to do it. It was just wasting money kinda costly. Like they coulda used that money for something else, like I dunno....PUTTING THE FUCKING ANSWER AND FEMC IN????? >_> *inhales* I know I know I KNOW. Before you say it. Before my lil strawman I talk to in my head says it. The english localization's funds were probs separate from the JPN devs funds. I mean, unless Atlus JPN controls Atlus USA's funding directly, and thus have more direct involvement. I mean, haha, that'd make sense. Question, why're you so hateful towards any and all things that has happened with persona games post p5?
What is the problem with p3reload? I literally cannot find any problems well apart from the well worn down complaints of the lack of femc and answer.
If this is about the Ken post, I think it's fair I'm a bit miffed that (SEA) Atlus posted that. TT0TT Otherwise, I'm going to be assuming this is just a reaction of seeing my other posts. XD
Now....hateful? P5.....most likely, I mean I went from loving it to....well... I felt betrayed (I've gone into my issues with P5 time and time again on this blog tbh TT0TT If you want more specifics I'll can go into it again but not atm for this post to save time ;w;). All in all P5 broke my sanity, I used to be very excited for it, but it turned sour when I actually saw how.....much it sucked.
P3 is salt. I'm pissy. I'm just angry at the choices made. It's something I love that's just.....it just has so many issues tied to it now (I do like some stuff, I do like the new singers voice BUT I hope they allow us to play OG tracks, but that goes for any remaster/remake). This broke me into going villain era ("you aren't making those posts anymore silly" I know I have other stuff outside the internet sadly ;w; orz if I wasn't wiped every day I would be showing my distain on every Atlus post but alas I can't I must pick and choose my battles and if it means bitching on here I'll at least take that orz)
Tbf to P5, I love Kamo's arc. I'll always stand by that. After that it gets complicated.
Spinoffs in general I really just don't like the......non direction the P5 spinoffs have had compared to P4. Arena/Q1/Ultimax were like a mini narrative. P4D was a send off. P5's are....aimless. But that's not hateful, that's just frustration with the direction. (I'm thinking it's cause the team got restructured so.....random events go I guess it's whatever). Like as burned out of P4 as people were for the P4 spinoffs (a bit unfair since 3/4ths were also P3 spinoffs TT0TT), they had some great writing highlights in the franchise and were released in a very natural way. (and the hype of announcing 3 games alongside P5's teaser? Oh god that was fun!)
P3/5D I'm.....very upset with how Atlus handled it. It's price gouging (wanting $60 for each game SEPARATELY), lacking content compared to the previous game P4D (less story and less songs, again P3/5D are counted as two separate games), and horrible timing. The latter is that....P3 didn't have a modern console for people to play on. Atlus screwed P3D over. They should've used this opportunity to funnel the new P5 fanbase into the older games, but instead of focusing on porting P3/P4 over ASAP within that year (which would come to hurt the next game), they pushed for P3/5D instead and didn't give it a fighting chance. Now P5D is screwed in a way that....P5D didn't have the best song selection, like P3/4 could pull from MULTIPLE games and animes, P5 only had P5 and an anime airing. P5D should've happened later, maybe as a send off like with P4. TT0TT (I think timing for P3/5D right now would've been great, considering it feels like we're ending the P5 era and P3R is coming out. I'm hoping they port P3/5D or give us a sequel/remake now would be the BEST time).
PQ2 I'm upset because the lore and how things work are fundamentally fucked over (only a minority may care or notice but it's there TT0TT), like it literally was "P5 broke me 2, electric boogaloo". And I hate how P5 focus it is....esp when I don't think they do much with the story that's meaningful. Love it has FeMC in it (one of the best highlights), love that Yosuke/Teddie are finally written closer to their original game counter parts (outside P4D). Sad that it feels like they game constantly licks P5's boot for some reason (it feels very one sided compared to the equal praise P3/4 did in it's era). I don't mind Hikari but I'm kinda......eh on the PQ2 story as a whole. Was excited to see Climax Theater again only for it to be....eh. The worlds felt eh compared to PQ1. It just felt like an all around downgrade in story compared to PQ1 (it def has better characterization, tho I want to attribute some of PQ1's flanderization to the translators, also to PQ1's benefit.....flanderizing was to help give all the cast members screen time, which PQ2 doesn't do well). I hate that FeMC and P3MC barely interact even tho that was a big freaking advertising point. TT0TT The cast is too bloated, I like to say PQ2 would be better without P5 (it would), but really we need to cut a team. If they wanna keep the FeMC/P3MC plot line then we gotta cut either P4 or P5 (if we gotta change some story/setting I'm fine with that too). Hell, I'm fine with a PQ2 game with just P4/5 and no P3. But the game is just too bloated atm. TT0TT Also Atlus screwed this one too, 1) by not having P3/4 ports available yet, but also 2) putting it on a dead console. orz they really had no fighting chances.
P5R it's.....unnecessary tbh. I like the 3rd semester, but Sumi/Maruki would've been better suited for a spinoff game. One were we could just focus on them and not have to slog through a game that barely anything changed. Also really? 3 years? And we need an updated release? AND IT'S NOT DLC??? Fuck, at least FES The Answer you had an option to get the updated version or buy the Answer itself at a lower price (basically the PS2 ver of DLC). And at least the portable ports of P1-4 were on a different console. P5R is doing this ON THE SAME DAMN CONSOLE. It's BS. Feels like a cash grab like P3/5D were. (I probs prefer vanilla more than Royal tbh, even tho I love Sumi and like Maruki).
P5S......I just....thought it was bad. Felt hollow, like not enough social stuff and too much focused only on gameplay (aka not enough balance, if you ignore the gameplay you're left with.....not a lot). There's issues with characterizations at time (not that P5 was consistent to begin with but still). Like P5 I'm fine with the premise of the story, I hate the execution. While playing I was like "Wow this game doesn't understand P5....I feel sorry for P5!" I was appalled at how they handled some of the villains. Gameplay is fine, just wish there was more to do outside the gameplay. Annoying P5R couldn't be more involved in this (timing is just all over the place with these games wtf atlus??? TT0TT), it lacking P5R isn't a break it for me I just find it to be VERY odd. Esp since they released it after P5R???? At organize it like you did with Arena and P4G, it'd be less strange. TT0TT
P5 anime fucked up Kamo's dungeon didn't want to touch it after that. I don't think I'm in the minority of people not liking the anime.
P5 manga, need to catch back up but I didn't mind the first two dungeons. Liked the new additions. I'm probs in the minority.
P5MM manga: it's ok. Love the artist. Story started off strong but ended up kinda meh at the end.
P5 Daybreakers OVA: I like it a lot. Wish we had more like it.
P5T: Nothing against it atm actually. TT0TT I'm liking the pink villain so far (so far she's being handled better than Alice! YAY!). I really like the new spinoff only chars of this game so far (I'm neutral/positive leaning on the other's but I don't LOVE them). Atlus' statements on the timeline of this game is confusing, and if it IS non-canon to the main timeline I find it very shitty of them to only say that AFTER people have bought the game. ;w; Other than that...uhhh DLC is my only other issue (which I haven't brought up a lot, barring P5S, and on the lower end of PQ1/2, DLC has been ASS with the P5 era games. Like P4D DLC was ass too ;w; And Arena/Ult/Q1 weren't great either, so it didn't start with P5, but it got worse with P5). It's not the WORST DLC practice they've done, but it's still not great. DX
P5X: Nothing to say here, we vibbing. Like what I see so far. Sad it's a gatcha but que sera sera I guess. Probs my fav overall P5 spinoff so far.
P3P/P4G ports: Eh audio this, AI background that. I'm just happy these mfers are finally ported. TT0TT Now do it again with P1/2!
Ultimax Port: Just happy it's ported tbh. Shame they couldn't add a new route (since this game's writing needed a bit more ironing out).
Now P3R.........I think people being upset about the lack of FeMC/Answer is completely valid and talked about for a good reason. Hear me out! A big reason me and a lot of other people have been clamoring for a P3 remake is because we wanted to FINALLY have a complete version of P3. Both Journeys and AT LEAST one Answer (two would be great, but the bar is in the GROUND right now, we're asking for the BARE MIN TT0TT). Then P3R is released and............nope we get another non complete version of P3. It's not just FeMC/Answer fans who are upset. It's the fact we can't have it all in one STILL. And it's not just "one complete game" It's about "One complete story" we lack being able to experience the full story of P3. ;w; *spoilers for key elements of the Answer below* (I just want all three journeys to be treated with respect, but Atlus cutting the FeMC and Aigis journeys....it just puts a bad taste in my mouth and causes issues in the fandom).
(hell the manga, movies, and stage plays NEVER made an Answer adaptation, and the manga/movies never pulled a P4tGA for FeMC either! If they were upset with how they first made The Answer they could always rewrite it at this point and keep the key elements which spoiler: Wild Card Aigis, Metis appears, Erebus fight, Liz leaves, and everyone grieving and then finding out the reason behind the Seal. Like I'm pissy as a FeMC fan first and foremost, but I'm very upset as a Metis fan about the lack of Metising I get to see TT0TT)
I also don't like the look, I hate the lighting and the new art style (I got into Persona cause of Soejima's art style tbh, so I'm vibbing more with ReFan and P5X) and (esp) models (I could overlook the art style if I didn't hate how the models look so much). They look plastic, the heads are overly round and it throws me off (like how Anne's head portrait go more circle in P5R compared to P5 vanilla/P5S), and their....facial features....it's probs cause I'm used to Soejima....but something abt them feels off like they're smooshed. I dunno. The environments outside Tartarus looks like shit with the shitty lighting. "Oh it's just the lighting" well it keeps taking me out of it along with everyone's plastic looking helmet hair.
I'm not the biggest fan of some of the UI. (did I ever finish that post? I don't think I did sigh I gotta dig it up if I didn't TT0TT).
I'm sad about certain gameplay changes (lack of tired system esp, but lack of splitting up and such as well). It was a big identity to P3 that I loved and it being gone now is.....sad ;w;
I'm happy about other gameplay changes (and aspects I've had on my wishlist have come true, such as expanding on P3MC's friendships w/male chars in these new eps or even expanding on Strega). But what I'm happy with so far is mostly the social gameplay additions/changes, not so much some of the combat/exploration changes.
I don't really care about the voice changes for the english version. I know other people are but I'm eh. I'm sad we're missing Yumi and have a new singer. I like the new singer, tho I'm eh on some of the covers (as long as we get the OG tracks to swap to I'm gucci, but I'm good regardless). Only issue with the new singer is they......hired ANOTHER new person??? I feel a bit bad for Mayumi (FeMC singer) and Shuhei (PTS, anime sequel to P3, and P3P op singer) who were already tied to P3 and were passed up on....ngl I would've loved more Shuhei. TT0TT Really drive the male vs female. Just....why did they pass up on them? Esp Shuhei? TT0TT
But I'd be able to overlook all these little things I hate about it......if they would JUST GIVE ME A COMPLETE VERSION OF P3. If they just gave me FeMC and Metis, I'd accept all the other stuff.
That being said, again I don't want to be gouged by DLC a fucking again. Which I fear is what WILL happen to FeMC/Answer...... but gd I'll choose the devil I like more and I'll take. I'll hate it but I'll freaking take it. But considering Atlus LOVES showing off day one DLC, and not a peep of FeMC/Answer anywhere....I'm feeling like we aren't going to get that even. orz.
And I know there's a tired counter "But that's extra work!" well consider this:
There's already a complete script (story wise, and planning wise)! P3R is working off an existing script, sure they've added stuff and tweaked other stuff, but it's not like they had to start from scratch. Same goes with FeMC/Answer, they have a baseline. They have assets they can work off of. (translators and new Eng VAs besides that)
Atlus already copied and pasted A LOT of the male events into the FeMC. Like the main story is nearly identical (maybe 20% has differences?) 14/22 SLs share the same people, with only 1 really being completely rewritten and the rest being nearly exactly the same outside a handful of dialogue. Music wise there's only 6 song differences and 1 additional new song. (tldr; they could totes be lazy and just copy and paste with slight differences I'll take it, small changes can still go a long way and it's something rather than nothing).
(related to point 2 but looping Answer in now) The dungeon and story beats are the same between male/female. So gameplay structure is the same. Answer's dungeon and areas is basically a copy and past assets (with some recolor) as well.
Atlus is a big boy studio, they aren't in financial straits like in the P4 era, they have big daddy Sega to help them. They can handle it. And it's been in development for a while, I'd rather they delay it and give me an actual full version like people voted for. (And yes, the votes included P3/FES/P when asked, not just P3 vanilla or male).

What are you most excited about when you start to write it/publish it?
That it gets done, at least in a stable/solid enough state to share. 😭
Granted it's also equally exciting and terrifying in hoping that what comes out is coherent and turns out at least decent, but it's new territory for me with the wip I was thinking about with that ask list in that not only is it an original work story, but an attempt to fulfill a lifelong dream of making a game of some kind (it's a script for a visual novel, just in its early state it's in fic form right now that I've been kinda haphazardly working on and off on).
It's not technically the first time I tried to make an original-work fic, but all my other works up to this point tend to be in scattered states of progress, disjointed on what I have to show for them or what's figured out for them due to varying constraints (same issue with current fandom stuff too even, my summoner/feh OCs lore and art are all over the place too), and a lot of past attempts at making something original either wound up shelved, scrapped, or lost in time due to various circumstances.
This project in particular is the first that got far enough to have a set plan (however roughly), a cast with consistent ideas of how they look and feel (not just a name and a vague yet-to-have-a-face concept), and I'm at a place now I feel like I can approach learning how to make it the way I wanted (the game side of it) when in the past I felt really easily confused and discouraged pretty much right at the start.
So even if it gets to a state I can actually share even the characters or snippets of their world, or the project in its completion, it already means a lot to me even at that state, and further than I got before. I've also got other projects cooking alongside of it too, but this project is the furthest out of them so far, and seeing even one of them see the light of day helps have faith in the others too later on.
How far have you planned ahead?
I feel like I have a definite start, and a definite conclusion point, but the problem I'm stuck at is the actual specifics of how we got from point A to B and the specific details throughout. (A problem that follows me a lot even in fanfics haha orz) On the bright side it has the most of itself figured out to see a rough roadmap of the story I wanted overall, rather than just a collection of fragmented ideas like a lot of my wips are/end up being, or a play-it-by-ear work until the "and then what?" wall like a lot of other fics otherwise. It's been very much like the Plankton meme from here on out of "Well I didn't think I'd get this far".
I also had rough concepts of a lot of factors determinant of the MC of the story and how the story shifts and where, though in its current state I'm trying to plan out at least one complete story start-to-finish first before getting too far ahead in those beyond concepts. (It's not necessarily a "canon" set of events, but just enough to cover the most ground in the first pass before the branch-offs happen.)
Do you have any unwritten scene that you think about a lot?
A lot, yeah. There's one that is in a place really late in I'm working up to that's very spoiler-heavy, but there's another early on that I'm still thinking about and keeping my fingers crossed whatever iteration of it that it settles on would carry the feelings across that I hoped it would.
One 'scene' that's early enough I think is safe to spoil a bit about might be a bit of a stretch cuz it's more of a theme and intent for multiple scenes than just one particular scene: How the MC meets the rest of the main reoccurring cast and gets his ducks in a row, and establishing early parts of them I hope carries through.
Specifically, the MC in question is named Enoli, and at the start, he was already recently living together with one of the reoccurring main cast, Hiroto. Eventually, there'll be others that appear and are recruited into the fold from varying backgrounds and happenstance (maybe it's safe to also reveal this is a BL magical boy series, for better context), and while I have set plans I want to start with for now in its fic form, in game form I was hoping they might vary in order and timing to an extent. I sorta get nervous of the first impressions they make and whether or not the intent I have with them carries across well enough. (Let alone later on when the order you get them has subtle differences later on.)
Enoli and Hiroto are set to be the first you start off with, and right from the start, I wanted and hoped they carry their hints across on the how-we-got-here's of the two. Hiroto is very frail, sickly and bedridden, and can't do much at first, and Enoli would risk everything, including his life, to try to get him medicine, and his cat some food and supplies, even if he has to defy his instinct (or rather, the player's input) to do it. They both newly moved in together, yet the only thing actually moved in proper is all the treats and toys and assorted other things for his beloved cat. Everything else are still in boxes. Hiroto's things in particular were haphazardly packed, and many possessions outright destroyed. Why?
I want to tell just enough that I hope I get some questions going, but I worry of crossing the fine line between being vague enough to either hint something more or spark answers, or become too vague as to be cryptic and confusing. And I want similar hints to tell something of the other eventual characters, but not enough to tell too much, too soon, all at once. For one later characer, I even wanted to challenge him with setting him up for a bad first impression, but I still feel equally curious of how well it'll go, but also scared of putting him OOCly in a bad light.
More specifically, there's one character later on who accidentally roughly bumps into Enoli. To Enoli, it was just an accident, both mean well, and there's no harm and no foul. But to the perspective of Enoli's beloved cat - ever the protector - he thinks that man actually did worse to Enoli than what happened actually, and ends up hostile and protective as a result of the misunderstanding, something that remains and shapes how he and Enoli's cat react to one another for quite a while. Maybe it's me being too tilted of extreme bad-faith reads on fandom getting to me, but it's details I think of constantly and worry and weigh if it's worth going into directions like that.

i'm convinced she's simon's mom bc of the "rosebud boy" thing, which simon misattributed to natasha's ghost but rly it was lucy talking about Him (the mage isn't his dad tho bc 1. didn't he have to like submit documentation to make simon his ward or his heir or smth and 2. as we just learned he and lucy ended up breaking up a few years after graduating watford. lucy did run away to america tho so idk how simon would've ended up back in the uk. ok fine it's possible the mage is simon's dad but He Better Not Be)

i didn't liveblog it at the time but there's a mage pov chapter waaay back in bk 1 where he talks about wanting to "fix" simon, like his magic is broken, not working the way it should, and he just needs to find the answer that will make everything click into place. actually let me go find it
I'd thought I could be of more help to Simon, especially by now. Help him come into his power. Help him take hold of it.
There must be a spell for him....Magic words that would fortify him. A ritual that would make the power itself manageable. I haven't found it yet, but that doesn't mean that it isn't out there. That it doesn't exist!
And if I do find it...
Is it enough to stabilize his power, if I can't stabilize the boy?
This isn't in the prophecies; there's nothing about headstrong children.
like. his #1 concern is getting simon's power up and running, he's not important to him as the boy he is but rather for the potential he embodies. rather than wanting to help him control his power for his own sake, he wants to help him control his power so he can fulfill the prophecies proper

And what does it mean to take care of power? Do you use it? Conserve it? Keep it out of the wrong hands?
1. who did he promise to take care of simon. my money's on lucy; i could see her running off to america, having a child there, Circumstances Happening and her having to bring simon back, asking a trusted old friend to take care of him, etc etc SOMETHING like that
2. the progression of these thoughts is so interesting to me bc it goes from "i promised to take care of him" to "how can i take care of a child with this much power" to "what does it mean to take care of power" like, in his mind the original request of "take care of this boy" translated into "take care of this power"
i think to an extent the mage does care about Simon the Human Boy, but i also think the majority of that feeling comes from his perception of simon as something Valuable and Important. he has astronomical expectations for simon and those take priority over all else
so to get back to the original excerpt, the reason i think it's so interesting seeing how excited he was reading through the prophecies back then is because it provides further context on how he views simon and his "purpose," and lays out his motivations more clearly, all of this in contrast to simon's feelings on everything- on being The Chosen One, on having these impossible duties to fulfill, expectations to live up to, all of it
just more details leading up to simon's definitely upcoming departure from the underside of the mage's thumb :)

"Good morning, my beloved."
You were still hallf asleep, when your husband's smooth voice spoke to you from the door of your shared bedroom. Along with his voice, the scent of his strawberry pancakes filled your nose.
Quickly, your sleepiness faded away and was replaced with happy excitement. You did not expect him to get up early for you today.
"I hope you're hungry", Jumin mused as he carried the tablet on which he balanced not only the pancakes but also a cup of coffee.
You did not answer him. You were watching him closely, ready to jump out of the way should the tablet come falling down on you. You knew Jumin was quite good at holding his balance, but there was always the chance of Elizabeth 3rd jumping in front of his feet out of nowhere. To your relief, both Jumin and the tablet made it to the side of your bed unharmed.
With the pancakes being held right next to you know, the scent was a lot stronger, immediately making your stomach growl.
Jumin let out a low chuckle. "There's my answer."
"I'm sorry Jumin", you said, looking up to him with a sheepish smile, "the suspense was just too much for me to say anything. Plus, I didn't want to distract you and make you fall."
"I think it's too late for that, darling. I have already fallen for you a long time ago."
Blushing at his words, you hit his shoulder. "You can't say things like that! For a moment I thought you really fell in the kitchen or something. I got worried."
With an adoring smile on his lips, he whispered a small apologie to you and placed the tablet in front of you. Finally, he walked around the bed, to climb in next to you.
"Enjoy your meal."
"What about you?", you pouted, "Did you have breakfast already?"
Jumin nodded. Still, you decided to share your plate with him. He was slightly protesting as you started to feed every second bit to him, but you wouldn't have it. So eventually, he accepted his fate, his eyes laughing each time you lifted the fork to his lips.
Havin the meal took a little bit longer as it usually would due to you insistence to share, but inevitably, the plate ended up empty.
"Thank you Jumin. They were as tasty as ever", you smiled, placing a soft kiss on his cheek.
Then you leaned over to your sidetable and started to rummage around in It's drawer. Jumin watched you curiously. It took you a while, but eventually, you pulled out a small velvet box.
"Please just take it, quick!", you rambled, almost throwing the box into his hands. You shivered as you looked at him holding it. "God. This fake velvet is so gross to touch."
Jumin grinned as he was about to say something about your peeve, and how you two could easily afford real velvet, but he held his tongue. He knew you weren't too keen on being reminded you were rich now, and that you could use his money whenever you pleased. In a way, he found it very charming that you still insisted on paying for things with your own money, although it ended up being frustrating for him sometimes.
"Go on, open it."
You looked at him nervously as he turned the box in his hand. He never understood why you were so worried about the gifts you gave him. No matter what it was, he always adored your gifts, solely because they were from you. The fact that you went out of the way to find something for him, was the most beautiful gift he could receive from you in the first place.
Opening the little box reveiled a small cravat pin with a white little cat head on the front.
"It reminded me of Elizabeth", you smiled softly.
Jumin was in awe. He looked back between you and the pin repeatedly. Then, a wide smile settled on his face. "Thank you, my love. What a wonderful gift. Both you and Elizabeth 3rd will always be with me now."
"Just one thing. For the sake of Jaehee's sanity, please don't wear this pin to important meetings."
Jumin frowned at your request. Why would a little pin be a threat to his assistant's sanity?
"Of course I am going to wear it to work and especially to meetings. It will surely bring me luck!"
"It's just not the most professional pin", you sighed. "You can wear it at work but please put it in your pocket in meetings. For me?"
You husband was clearly not quite happy with you proposal, but at the smae time, he could never refuse any of your requests. If it was something that was important to you, he was going to put his wishes on second place.
"Alrihgt. If you insist, I will not wear it to my meetings. Even though I don't think it would be too much of a problem if I did after all-"
You immediately interrupted him. "If Jaehee tells me you're visibly wearing that pin at a meeting, I will give Elizabeth into Saeyoung's care over the weekend."
Your final statement made every argument he had redundand, ending the small discussion right there. If you were to pull poor Elizabeth 3rd into this, giving here to Saeyoung of all people, there was nothing that would make it worth it to deny your wishes.
Smiling, he pulled you into his arms. "I did not think you'd play this dirty.", he hummed, kissing the top of your hair.
You smiled triumpantly, turning into his embrace. With a sigh, you ran you hand down his chest, only stopping shy of the hem of his pants. "We both know how dirty I like to play.....no....?", you hummed, pulling on it lightly. Your smile turned into a grin, as you pushed yourself off him just enough to move on top of him. Your hands wandered back up to his chest, playing around with the buttons of his shirt, opening them swiftly.
Placing your lips on his chest, you left a trail of kisses on his torso, all the way down to his bellybutton.
"Can I have my other valentines gift now?", you purred.
Jumin's breath was shallow, as he watched you with hungry eyes. "I am all yours, my love."

Eeehhh?? Really? Omg! I just kept writing and at some point I thought of Albedo and his own mindset as a yandere...and I ended up adding him into the mix. There are so many great themes I can touch on when I write with Albedo (science theme, psychological theme, comparing humans to simple research/data and not actual people, a relationship that’s similar to a hazardous chemical reaction, etc.) That might not make any sense, but when I write I like to base it around a general theme.
For example, if you’ve read Half-Off Love, I based that around the idea of ‘cheap love,’ also gold-digging or love that comes from a relationship built upon materialistic things. It sounds expensive in theory, considering all of the things Scaramouche buys for his partner. But in the end it’s nothing but cheap garbage in his partner’s mind because they sell it off as soon as they can. The only value it has is monetary, not sentimental or romantic. Hence the idea that the s/o’s love is cheap and false. And Scaramouche’s is...questionable yet undeniably real.
Eek! >_< Didn’t mean to ramble about that. I just like adding themes to my writings. It makes it more interesting. For my yan!Xiao story, I plan to base it around the theme of certain flavors/tastes. Sounds strange, right? Lol but it works for the impact I’m going for!

don't worry! you didn't scare me away, and i get what you meant with being picky. i know how hard it is to find good fics in the descendants fandom where characters are portrayed in the right light (particularly with uma and audrey).
i love heartsfate! so many good evie ships (especially audrey/evie my beloved!). ooh did you write a fic for heartsfate?
i read a lot of short fics in the descendants fandom, but i am always hesitant with long fics bc i'm worried about running into bad portrayals of uma and audrey and people don't always tag for the things i tend to avoid. but yeah, i have some friends that will send me links and assure me a fic is safe to read.
definitely agree with the parts about audrey (and uma in the reply)! she's allowed to have flaws. and from her point of view, everything she did was justified. it was smart of her to be wary of the vks, and she only really started to be mean to them when she saw mal and ben's connection. that insecurity kicked in and who wouldn't be upset to have their boyfriend stolen in front of the whole school?
yeah, i really didn't like that they played off audrey's humiliation as a joke, like we're supposed to see mal as some hero for getting rid of her. and they kind of imply that audrey and chad deserve each other. like no. audrey deserves so much better! anyway, i could rant about how audrey and uma were treated poorly in canon, but i'll stop there. this ask is already getting really long and the post you linked pretty much sums it up!
audrey definitely deserved more apologies from ben and mal. and it just makes me sad that she retreated to fairy cottage to recover and it feels like no one was checking in on her. jane definitely would have kept in touch with her (we know she did, even if canon won't tell us). probably lonnie as well. audrey deserves to have a support system too.
love those headcanons on audrey! i definitely see auradon as more of a high king (ben) with the small kingdoms having a good amount of control over their own kingdoms. i love the idea that audrey is actually really tough. i feel like she would have to be to survive that strict grandmother of hers.
that's valid! the characters and costume design were so good! the characters are definitely the most important aspect to me too. that's how i form a connection with shows and movies enough to write fic about them lmao

oh maaan i can only imagine how some writers treat uma or audrey. i can only tell you how some readers react to them. i have a long ass trash fic i'm writing [another disclaimer to not go looking for it], and it's like these people don't have great reading comprehension. they seem to think that whatever a POV character thinks is The Truth without understanding that POV characters do not have all the information, and when it comes to the core four, have pretty strong biases. and so there's comments like "audrey is such a bitch i hope they do something Bad to her" and i'm just like. wow. someone needs to log off for a bit and do better in school lmao
audrey has depth but not many want to see it and it makes me sad orz
i only celebrate christmas, and this year will be my first christmas where it will actually snow!! i'm both excited and nervous cause i've lived in louisiana all my life, and now i'm in new york so. big change lmao but usually we didn't much for the holidays. there's several movies that are tradition, go to the park for holiday train rides for my niblings. get pics with santa claus. our family did kk's, or secret santas, so we picked names outta a hat and whatnot. i wasn't one for decorating, but the rest of my family did that, both the house and the tree.
i am looking forward to making a real snowman tho xD

I saw your thing about sensory overload issues, so I hope it's okay to share my small advice here. Personally I have the most issue with auditory overload, so I always make sure to keep noise-canceling headphones with me so I can blast music when I'm getting overwhelmed. I find it helps to limit/control sensory input as much as possible. For texture issues, the first thing to come to mind was using hand washing as a "cleanse"? I know if I touch a bad texture, I feel like it "sticks" and lingers, and I know I really like the texture of foam hand soap. idk if this will be at all helpful, but I hope so. I'm glad you have a cat who's very in-tune with you, and I hope you find some techniques that help you :)

i truly appreciate the advice bc even scouring the internet i didn't find much-most was info on how to avoid a sensory overload which, yeah, too little too late at that point ;;
honestly sounds don't affect me too much? or like, idk how to explain it exactly-if i start feeling overwhelmed by other sensations, then sound will follow? it's rare for it to be the first sensation to affect me except v specific things, but this does help! I should really invest in noise cancellation headphones orz
100% get what you mean about the bad textures sticking! my main main issue is w textures rly, i get so picky w them it sucks-touching a bad texture means i immediately need a 'good texture' to wipe the texture off on or a shower asap ;;
honestly limiting sensory input like you said has helped the most-just a dark room + some ambient noise playing to drown out any other potentially unpleasant noise, and/or a shower after to get rid of 'bad textures'-it's just hard to think of it in the moment when everything's so overwhelming?? idk hnggg

Why is Timothy considered a Parasyte type and not a Crystallization type ? His father made him swallow that innocence (and I'm still offended by this btw, it could have ended up really badly if Timothy didn't happen to be an accomodator of that particular innocence) and his innocence reappeared in his forehead after that, that sounds a lot like what crystallization type are

Timothy is… really a special case. I mean all innocences are somewhat sentient but his own is really pushing it as well, perhaps due to it being this much into his brain?
I suppose it may be the same reasoning as for Krory’s though - that the innocence was injected in them by an external means but remplaced a clear part of their bodies too (Krory was bitten by a plant who carried the innocence, and the innocence spread into his blood until making his teeth fall off and remplacing them.).
Timothy… He did have to swallow the innocence, but it was in solid form wasn’t it? Lenalee’s and Kanda’s were weird by the fact they were liquid- so i think that might play there. Timothy had to swallow a jewel that happened to have the innocence in it, the same way the plant’s innocence found its way in Krory’s body.
But unlike Krory or the others parasyte we can think of, the crystal on his head doesn’t really seem to “remplace” anything, unless it has a direct deformation from his own brain that comes out of his skull, which is horrifying to think about. But I guess that would make sense if it was the case?
The crystalizations are made of blood. From what we know the crystalization is a new form and well- it only happened so far with exorcists who already had used the innocence in an equipment way. (albeit Kanda’s a whole can of worm as well bc his first official syncronization with his innocence was.. odd.), and it happened with the innocence being drunk at its purest form- so without a plant or a jewel. The innocence therefore passed through their blood, and created the stigmas on their arms/legs, that left the innocence’s come out and create a weapon from it, from their blood, hurting for ever.
but… sighs considering how the innocence acts with Krory’s blood in his fight against Jasdebi… I don’t know doesn’t that sound like crystalization too? His innocence is supposed to be in his teeth but when he was crushed by Jasdebi his blood became sentient and became a weapon in itself. And it’s not to mention that his blood itself filter the akuma’s poison when he drinks it so it is extended to his body, to another level than just parasyte type like Allen who can neutralize the poison. The innocence is scary man.
Timothy….. doesn’t exactly sound like any of those cases in term of how his blood remains well in his place- and idk perhaps the thing on his head is part of the jewel, so it means it’s not like the pure innocence is in contact with his blood?
I think even with all that overthinking tho? the most important thing to take into consideration is that “Parasyte/Equipment/Crystalization” is how the Black Order define the innocence when they take a certain shape. While Equipment is rather obvious, they probably used “Parasyte” more freely as just, the opposite, of “extension of the body”. I suspect the reasoning is more how you started to use the innocence- as a part of your body or as an object. They didn’t really have reasons to overthink it (and even what i mention with Krory happened when NO ONE could see so perhaps no one is even questioning Krory’s parasyte type).
Lenalee, and then Kanda, were special cases. They were equipment type for years. Their innocences always behaved like Equipment, unlike Krory and Timothy’s who always behaved as a part of them. It’s later that the Innocence evolved and became a part of them. “Crystalization” would therefore be more about the process of going from equipment to parasyte type, of the innocence still taking the shape of an equipment despite being part of their bodies. So i suppose it’s more a question of process that was completely unseen by the Order before.
(I suppose it’s worth noticing that Lenalee and Kanda were the two characters who rejected the Innocence the most. And both their crystalizations happened after they got problems with their innocences and had to keep them away from them - from Lenalee’s ark arc’s problem and later having to give it back to Hevlaska, and Kanda’s whole Alma’s fight that had Mugen being kept by Zu Chan until he came back to the order months later. It could be therefore a sort of further test by the innocence of basically going “oh you need me now? Prove it. Devote yourself to me.” that the parasyte types don’t even have to bother about. But it enters into a whole new question on Innocence sentience and how therefore each might have a personablity putting the characters through hell and.. boy. And it’s not even touching the “influenced by the Heart” theory that Timothy cannot be focused upon as we know the Heart was retrived by the Order before Timothy’s arc- but then again it’s not like the Order knows that so their characterizations had no basis on that.).
So i think honestly it’s just as simple as “The Order decided it was simpler to determinate it like that and the process of Crystalization took them by surprise”. As long as they don’t have any reason to think Timothy would have been an equipment type, they just put him in the parasyte type category and didn’t overthink it.
Bc tbh at this point except some very precise things we can pinpoint (the liquid, the stigma, ect..) the innocence has already been so damn weird already so i think anything is fair game. It’s really more how specific the patern of Crystalization is that makes it Crystalization rather than the way it behaves with the body. I think Parasyte Types are a whole other can of worm that can be summarized by “the innocence is so freaking weird”.
…… THIS WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE but this is a complicated subject orz sorry!
