Oscar's Aunt noticed strange changes in him. He withdrew from her, began talking to himself when she wasn't looking, seemed to have a different aura around him. One day, much to her horror, he was just gone.
Aunt Em watched Oscar closely as he pitched hay, noticing a small change in how he moved. Instead of his usual struggling as the day went on, he almost seemed to have a renewed energy as if he had been doing this for decades instead of the few years he had been living on the farm ever since his parents died. Even his eyes seemed to hold a different look in them than they had the day before. “Oscar! Dont forget to brush the horses.”
“Dont worry, I wont forget!” Oscar called out as he stabbed his pitchfork into the ground.
Aunt Em smiled for a moment as she watched him, her smile fading as she watched him wipe his brow and walk into the barn. Over the last few days, it felt like he had been pulling away, changing in ways that she didnt understand. *Must be how teenagers are,* she thought to herself as she made her way back into the house. “He’ll be fine. Its all a phase and it’ll be over soon enough.”
The next few days caused Aunt Em to worry more as she watched Oscar withdraw from her. No longer did he seem to smile with the same youthful innocence as he had before, his smile seeming forced as he continued his day. Even the way he held himself seemed to change, almost as if he was a different person. She slowly knocked on his bedroom door, her voice shaking slightly as she listened to Oscar shuffle around in his room. “Oscar? Is everything okay?”
“I’m fine Aunty Em!” Oscar called back from behind the door. “I’m.. uh… I’m redecorating!”
“May I come in?”
“Sure.”
Aunt Em stepped back a moment as the door swung open with Oscar standing in the doorway, hair more disheveled than usual. Then, she noticed the bookshelf behind him seemed a bit more out of place than normal. Books strewn about the room, a few open to pages of the different huntsmen academies across Remnant. Aunt Em relaxed a bit for a moment. “Wanting to train to be a huntsman?”
“Yes. No.” Oscar moved to close the books and sighed as he put them back onto the bookshelf. “I want to see the world, but I dont think being a huntsman would be the way I want to do that.”
Aunt Em nodded and picked up a book, closing it and putting it back onto the bookshelf where it belonged. “There are other ways to see the world too. I’m sure that we can scrape up the money to send you out to a scholar-”
“I’m fine being here. Really. You need all the help you can get on the farm and I cant leave you to do all of this on your own.”
“Then will you tell me what’s going on? You havent seemed like yourself over the last couple weeks and I’m worried you’re hiding something.”
“I’m not hiding anything.” Oscar winced a bit and held his forehead, collecting himself for a moment as his eyes almost seemed to glow. “May I get some privacy?”
Aunt Em nodded and left the bedroom, shutting the door and pausing for a moment as she heard Oscar’s voice. She pressed up against the door, listening to him mumble to himself.
“I’m sure I saw a picture of that desk in a book before, so that doesnt mean that doesnt mean anything. Leave me alone and get out of my head!”
Aunt Em knocked on the door, leaning in a bit. “Oscar? Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine!” Oscar answered back. “I’m going to bed, I’ll start my chores in the morning.”
Aunt Em looked at her watch, frowning a bit when she noticed it was only two in the afternoon. Though, she left her nephew alone, making her way downstairs to grab her scroll and thumbed through her contacts until she found the number she saved for her doctor. She made a quick call, tapping her foot as she waited for an answer.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I’ve set up an appointment for you with Doctor Hyde to see if we can deal with those headaches,” Aunt Em called out through the door. “We’ll need to leave first thing in the morning to make it to him.”
Silence greeted her back as she waited for an answer, her foot tapping as she started to grow impatient. She opened up the door to peek in, her voice growing more firm. “Oscar-”
Aunt Em paused as looked into the bedroom, her heart stopping as she looked at the empty bed and a note sitting on the nightstand. She slowly made her way over to read the note, her hands shaking as she lifted it.
*I’m going to Mistral and I dont know when I’ll be back. All I can tell you is that it’s important that I do and I’ll write to you once I’m there. -Oscar*
Aunt Em dropped the note and rushed out of the house, nearly tripping down the stairs. She threw open the farmhouse door, panting as she frantically looked around for any sign of Oscar. She ran around the farm, looking for any sign of where her nephew was and hoping to catch him. Minutes turned to hours as she made her way into the nearby village, asking around if anyone had seen Oscar. As the sun started to set and the stars filled the sky, she finally dropped onto a bench and sobbed, hoping Oscar would be okay.

In a small Village in south Anima, Jaune Arc was buying supplies from a local shop after a long trip on a boat from Vale's docks to Anima's only open docks, which happened to be down south.
"That's one tent, a sleeping bag, a 12 pack of MREs, and a small survival kit," said the clerk, "All that will be 110 Lien,"
Jaune looked in his wallet and found the cash he needed and handed it to the clerk, the clerk took it and saw that there was some changed and handed it to Jaune and he took it. Jaune thanked the clerk and took what he bought outside and began packing it all up.
Thankfully his backpack wasn't full and he could fit the MREs and the survival kit inside. As for the tent and the sleeping bag, he was able to strap the sleeping bag to the front of the backpack and hook the tent to the bottom. With all that done, he got everything he had and prepared to make his way to Shion.
Jaune planned to get some supplies here in the village, make his way to Shion and pick up some more supplies, and travel along the road and get some experience, both in survival as well as fighting Grimm, his first major destination was Mistral, and then eventually making his way to Argus to visit his sister and her family for a bit. Once the visit was over he'd travel to Mantle and see about taking a trip to Atlas Academy, see if he could train there for a bit, and then after that, he'd make his way to Vacuo, a place he hadn't been but he had heard a lot about it and the people that live there.
He didn't know how long he would stay in each kingdom, but he would do his best to stay in each country, gain experience from his time there, and enjoy the culture there.
However, he wasn't going to leave the village just yet and managed to find a motel where he was going to rest for the night and then leave right in the morning.
Once Jaune made his way to his room and unlocked the door with a key he was given, turned on the light and he walked in, it was a one-bedroom room with a shower and a Tv, which wasn't bad. He smiled and entered the room and quickly set his backpack to the side and closed the door and locked it behind him, and then he unbuckled his belt that held Crocea Mors and set it on a small table, and he let out a heavy sigh and sat on the bed, and he wondered what the others at Beacon were doing.
"it's gotta be night by now, right?" Jaune asked himself, "I wonder if Ruby's staying up late and reading comics again, or if Ren is meditating, or maybe Nora's bugging him so much he can't focus," Jaune began with a smile, "I... I wonder if Pyrrha's on the roof?" He said
That thought made him feel terrible. Pyrrha had offered to train him and he promised he would do whatever it took to earn his spot at Beacon, but now... now in a way he failed. He got kicked out. He was no doubt branded a cheater and faker. He was a terrible person in the eyes of his friends now. He was-
"No, no, no, stop thinking like that," Jaune said, shaking his head and cutting off his thoughts, "I should just get some rest,"
With a heavy sigh, Jaune took off his armor and then his shoes and went to turn off the light and lay back down, looked up at the ceiling, and relaxed, and after a while, he drifted off to sleep.

The next day, Jaune set forth on his way to Shion, which he estimated would take him five to six days, and once he was there he would need some money to take a Bullhead to Mistral, which means that he was going to have to also stay in Shion for a few days or maybe more to earn some Lien and be able to afford a ticket. He hoped that Shion had some work for him to do, even if wasn't Huntsmen-related work, Lien was Lien after all.
As Jaune continued to walk along the road, which already felt like hours even though he was sure it was more like 20-30 minutes. However, as he continued to travel along the road, he couldn't help but feel he was being watched, he had made it a good distance away from the Village by now, and as far as he could see every time he turned around, there was no one tailing him, but that didn't stop him from feeling watched.
'Maybe I'm just being a little paranoid' Jaune thought 'It's been a while since I've been alone, the last time I was by myself and traveling is when I ran from home,' Jaune thought with a small smile.
Thinking about his time before going to Beacon he smiled, He remembered how he first came to Vale City and how he thought it was so different then Argus, he remembered the Motel he stayed at for a bit as well as his first job at the book store in Vale.
As he remembered the happy memories of his time before and during Beacon, Jaune continued walking for hours. Eventually, he came across a fork in the road, but thankfully, there was a road sign that pointed in the direction of certain towns, Jaune looked to see two signs. One that was pointing to the road on the left said "Kaion" and the other one that was pointing to the right said "Shion", which made Jaune smile, knowing he was going on the right path, however before he could take the path on the right, a gunshot rang out and acting quickly, he ducked.
"Son of a Bitch!" came a strange voice from behind Jaune
Jaune quickly got up and looked behind him only to see two figures emerging out of the woods, one guy who appeared to be in his early 20s and a teenage girl that seemed to be around his age.
The teen girl had tan-colored skin, short brown hair in a pixie cut, and icy blue eyes, and Jaune noticed that she had a tattoo of a bird rising from flowers on her left arm. She wore a light brown vest with dark brown panels on the top and a dark brown buckled strap on the back, over a torn white shirt that was partially unbuttoned revealing what appeared to be a black bra, alongside a collar that appears to be slightly turned up behind her neck. She wore maroon-colored jeans with the right side rolled up to her thigh revealing the dark pink lining alongside a brown belt with a pouch attached to the right side. She also wore dark brown calf guards with one having a garter-styled strap that went under her rolled-up pant leg, and she wore a pair of beige and dark brown lace-up boots with folded over sides, showing over the white lining accompanied by a pair of maroon socks that partially covered her calf guards. On her hands, she wore a pair of dark brown fingerless gloves, and lastly, she wore a narrow dark brown choker strap around her neck. He also noticed she had two Pistols holstered to her sides
Jaune then turned to look at the man, who had a gun in his hand and who Jaune figured was the one who shot at him, he was a skinny man with long dirty blond hair and gray eyes, and he has stubble around his mouth. He wore a dark blue and gray jacket with torn sleeves over a long-sleeved shirt, a red bandana around his neck, and a shoulder pad on his right shoulder, and wore a pair of brown pants with brown boots, and he also wore a pair of brown leather fingerless gloves.
The teen girl looked over at the man with a smug smirk, "Nice shot Shay," she said
The man, now known as Shay, glared at the teen girl, "Shut it Vernal! He just got lucky!" cried Shay
The teen girl, now known as Vernal, kept smirking and just ignored Shay and turned to him. "What's your name?" She asked
Jaune swallowed his nerves and looked at Vernal, "Jaune Arc," Jaune told her, "And you?" He asked
"I'm Vernal Branwen," Vernal told him, "The shitty shot over there is Shay D. Mann," she told Jaune with a gesture of her thumb
'That girl is a Branwen!?' Jaune thought to himself, he knew that name, anyone who visited or lived on Anima knew the name Branwen, it was the name of a notorious bandit tribe. "So you guys are Bandits," Jaune told them,
Shay smiled, "Yeah," Shay began, "So you can guess what we want," Shay said
Jaune looked at Shay and he felt a familiar feeling radiating off of the man, it wasn't the feeling of Jaune somehow knowing the man, it was more like... he reminded him of someone. The more Jaune thought about it, he finally pieced it together, Shay reminded him of Cardin, but there was a difference between the two. Both were cocky and no doubt thought highly of themselves in a sense, however, the difference was that Cardin had the power to back it up while Shay... well it was easy to tell that without that gun, he wouldn't act so tough.
He then looked over to Vernal and felt a different feeling from her, she also had a pair of pistols holstered to the side, but they looked much different than normal ones, letting him know that they might be Mecha-shift weapons and that Vernal might be trained.
"And If I don't hand over my things?" Jaune asked, in a serious yet nervous tone.
"Well then I got a question," Shay began, as he smirked and raised his gun at Jaune, "You feelin' lucky punk?" Shay said
Jaune thought about how he could escape the situation, however, he had a feeling he couldn't, if he tried to run, they would shoot and while his aura could protect him, they would ruin his gear, and he simply couldn't hand over his things as he was sure they'd still try to kill him.
Jaune sighed and he began to unhook his backpack from his shoulders.
"Heh!" Shay said, as he lowered his pistol and turned to Vernal, "Look's like this one's gonna be easy!" Shay declared.
However, Shay didn't know that this was part of Jaune's plan, as once Jaune set his backpack on the ground, he quickly pulled Crocea Mors out of its sheath and activated his shield, and ran at the male bandit.
Shay didn't even notice until he felt the weight of Jaune's force and his shield ramming into him and sending him back and landing on his back and knocking him out. Vernal was surprised by the sudden attack, but acted quickly and went for her pistols, however, Jaune knew this was going to happen and quickly turned around and still held his shield in front of him, just as Vernal aimed her pistols at Jaune and fired at the blonde knight.
As the Bullets hit Jaune's shield, he stood his ground before he charged at Vernal, and seeing him running at her, she quickly stopped firing and stepped out of the way, dodging his charge. once he was missed, Vernal didn't miss a beat, as she quickly aimed her gun at Jaune, and shot him in the shoulder, but while he staggered, his Aura protected him. Jaune shook off the shot and looked at Vernal and took a fighting stance as did Vernal, her pistols still pointed at him.
Vernal looked at him with a glare, 'He's got Aura, and has some training, could he be a huntsman-in-training? But what the hell is one doing out here?' Vernal asked
Jaune examined Vernal with a glare as he still held up his shield, 'She's quick on the draw, way more than Ren, not only that, her reactions are sharp, she's got training,' Jaune thought 'I better be careful, one slip up and she'll wear me out and break my aura,'
Both stood tall, wondering who was going to be the first to attack, both waiting to either act or react. Vernal then decided to be the first to act and quickly fire her weapons. Jaune quickly blocked the shots with his shield and backed up, Vernal kept firing until she was out, which quickly spelled bad news for her as she backed up and dropped the magazines from her pistols, and tried to quickly reload, but Jaune knew no more shots were being fired and quickly charged at her, ready to bash and send her to the ground.
Vernal saw him charging in once again and due to feeling rushed, she only managed to load one of her pistols and fired a single shot at him. The bullet hit Jaune right in his lower left side, and he felt the force of the shot and felt slight pain, but he ignored it and still charged in. Vernal growled and waited for him to close in, and once he did and pushed his shield forward, trying to bash her, but she side-stepped the attack and delivered a side kick to the back of his leg, causing him to fall to one knee and Vernal quickly aimed her gun right at his head.
Vernal smiled as she looked down at Jaune, "Got ya," She said, "You give up Arc?" Vernal asked
Jaune looked to his side to see the barrel of Vernal's gun, but he didn't seem to look scared, and taking a huge gamble and also thinking on his feet, he quickly raised his sword, and with the pommel of Crocea Mors, he struck the bottom of Vernal's wrist, causing her to wince and drop her gun, she backed up only to be kicked out from under her feet and she fell backward and onto her ass. Vernal growled and looked up only to see the point of Jaune's blade in front of her and sort of smirked.
Vernal growled and glared at him.
"Look, I don't wanna hurt you," Jaune said, "I just wanna make my way to Shion in peace, so if you're willing, we can just go our separate-"
However, Jaune didn't get to finish his sentence as a figure burst from the trees and delivered an extremely powerful kick to Jaune's stomach, and the young knight was sent flying back and tumbling across the ground like a small rock.
Seeing who it was Vernal was surprised but also embarrassed, as it was her leader who had just saved her. The infamous Raven Branwen, wearing her signature Grimm mask stood in front of her and looked at the young blonde teen who was slowly getting up, before turning around and looking down at Vernal.
"Are you alright, Vernal?" Raven asked, her tone neutral, no ounce of concern was to be found in her voice.
Vernal looked down in shame, "I-I'm fine..." Vernal said
"Then stand up," Raven said
Vernal was slightly angry and ashamed of herself, knowing she had seemingly disappointed her leader and the person she looked up to the most, she stood up and looked at Raven, who was looking back at her. Vernal was a little confused as to why Raven was here, but ignored it and looked over Raven's shoulder and saw the young man stand up and look in their direction.
When Jaune stood up, he groaned in slight pain from the kick he received. He looked back over to Vernal, he saw the new figure that was responsible for kicking him in the gut.
She was a woman who was a bit taller than Vernal. Jaune couldn't see her face or eyes due to the Grimm mask, but she had long black hair that was just as long as Yang's hair. She wore a v-neck black and red wrap style top with a black pleated skirt that has black shorts underneath. A series of beaded necklaces were around her neck, a red obi sash around her waist alongside a red tasset wrapped around her waist that carried her weapon's sheath, and attached to it was a long black object that was either fur or feathers, with a red and white bandana material like hanging from behind her. On her forearms, were a pair of bear red armored gauntlets that protrude outwards and black fingerless gloves, and she wore a pair of black mid-thigh high boots, that had armor plating with red splatter patterns and black heels.
Jaune looked at the woman only for the woman to look back at him, and he felt an overwhelming sense of danger, and in an instant, Jaune saw her appear right in front of her and stab him in the neck!
Jaune's eyes widened, but when he looked in front of him and to his surprise and utter shock... The woman wasn't there. There was no blade in his neck, and to make sure, Jaune touched his neck and felt nothing.
No wound.
No blood.
No blade had pierced his throat.
'W-What was that...?' Jaune asked as a few beards of nervous sweat fell down his forehead, 'I-I could've sworn she had stabbed me...' Jaune thought, gulping in fear.
"Boy," The woman called out to him, "What is your name?" she asked
The woman's voice held authority and power, and yet... every nerve and every bone in Jaune's body told him that this woman was immensely dangerous. Jaune gulped once again and looked at the woman. "Jaune Arc," Jaune told her
"An Arc... how curious," Raven muttered to herself, "Your father... is he Nicholas Arc?"
Jaune was shocked to know that this woman knew his father, "He is..." Jaune said with a questioning look, "How do you know that?" Jaune asked her
Raven however didn't respond to the boy's question but stayed quiet for a little while, confusing both Jaune and Vernal. Raven's sheath spun for a little before it stopped, and once it did, the Bandit leader then unsheathed her red sword, known as Omen, and then pointed it at Jaune. When the blade was pointed at the young blond teen, he felt the urge to run away from the fight that was no doubt about to take place, however, he tried to steel his nerves as best as he could, he was not gonna run and be stabbed in the back.
"Will you surrender and be robbed? Or will you fight and die young Arc?" Raven asked
Jaune gulped thrice, and took a fighting stance, thus, giving Raven her answer.
"Very good," Raven said, a hint of amusement in her voice
Without even missing a beat, Raven appeared right in front of Jaune, shocking the young knight. Raven pulled back her blade, intending on stabbing him, and seeing this, Jaune had a flashback to earlier when he thought Raven had stabbed him through the throat, so he quickly raised his shield to block the attack, and Raven had struck his shield, and the force was so great that the young Arc staggered back, which is all Raven needed and quickly swung her sword in an upward horizontal angle, slashing jaunce across the chest, but still only hitting his Aura. However, the result of such an attack put Jaune on his back.
Once again, Raven didn't even miss a beat as she turned Omen around and tried to stab Jaune while he was down, however, Jaune acted quickly and used his blade to redirect the hit, but to his surprise, her blade became engulfed in flame, and instead of stabbing him in the gut, the blade managed to bypass his aura and was able to stab his leg!
Feeling the pain, Jaune's eyes widened with shock, as he cried in pain. The pain was intense, more intense than any other wound he had before, as there was a burning sensation to the pain. However, Jaune pushed Aura through it to relieve as much pain as he could and tried to slash at Raven, but she jumped back and sheathed her blade, her sheath rotating once again before stopping and Raven's blade was no longer red, but blue.
Jaune stood back up as best as he could, but excruciating pain shot through his leg the moment he put weight on it. He took a few deep breaths to ease the pain and calm himself down, he looked over to Raven, examining her weapon and trying to figure out how it was able to bypass his Aura so easily.
'Her red blade lit on fire and once it stabbed my leg, it burned up, just like a fire dust crystal... meaning all of her blades are made of dust, and now her new blade is Yellow, meaning she might be using lightning dust,' Jaune thought to himself, 'But how was she able to bypass my aura? Weiss uses dust but I've never seen it bypass Aura, hell, even dust ammunition doesn't bypass aura, it just hits and we can still feel the force of it, which lets us feel the pain, but not get hit by it... so how the hell can this woman bypass my Aura? Could it be her semblance?' Jaune thought, trying to find an answer as to how Raven was able to stab him.
Raven knew that Jaune was trying to figure out how she was able to stab him, as his father had done the same when they had met once after her Beacon years.
'If he's anything like his father, he might not be able to figure it out at first, but he'll wise up sooner or later,' Raven thought, 'However... he doesn't have any of the same skill as his father did, he's good, but he's still got a long way to go,'
"I forgot to ask you something," Jaune began, "You know my name, but I have no idea who you are," Jaune said
Jaune hoped that a small conversation would buy him some time to figure out her weapon and figure out a way to counter it.
"I am Raven Branwen," Raven told Jaune, "I am the leader of the Branwen tribe,"
Hearing this, Jaune's eye's widened, realizing what he had just gotten himself into. Fear began to spread through his body, everyone in Anima knew Raven Branwen, she was a legend, known for her fights with other Huntsmen, fights that she had won over and over again.
Raven saw his reaction and could see the slight shaking of his blade, letting her know that fear was beginning to set in, and yet... he was smiling, a nervous one, but still a smile. Something Raven hadn't seen for a long time.
"W-Well ain't this just my luck," Jaune said still with that nervous smile.
"Are you going to give up?" Raven asked
Jaune was thinking and a part of him, a large part of him, was heavily considering dropping Crocea Mors and giving up. He was out-skilled, if he continued with the fight, he was going to die, that was the fact that Jaune was sure of.
Yet... He wasn't going to.
A small part of him, told him that he shouldn't run, that if he gave up, he was going to die and he was never gonna fulfill his dream, he was never going to be back at Beacon... He was never going to see his friends again.
That small part told him that he was a Huntsmen in training, he was an Arc! He wasn't going to let himself just be captured or killed! If he was going to die today, he was going to go out with a fight.
Jaune took in a deep breath, and then his nervous smile, went to one full of life, and his sword stopped shaking. This sudden change of behavior surprised Raven as well as Vernal, who was watching everything from the side.
"No, I'm not going to give up," Jaune told her,
"Then are you willing to die today?" Raven asked
Jaune shook his head, "I won't be dying," He replied, "See... I-I have to do something and I have people I want to see again, so until I do, I won't die," Jaune said, still with a smile.
'Is he that idiotic?' Vernal thought to herself, 'Or is this his arrogance showing?'
Raven knew better, shat Jaune was showing wasn't idiocy or arrogance, or even pride for that matter. It was conviction. Conviction to fight and live and not back down from death. Something that Raven respected in others.
"Very well then," Raven said.
She then appeared above Jaune and swung down at him, but Jaune blocked it with Crocea Mors, however, this was part of Raven's plan and she activated the dust blade and sent a shock through Jaune's body. Jaune cried in pain, as the shock spread through his body and he could feel his whole body tense up and frozen in place, and not letting the opportunity pass, Raven quickly took out another dust blade, this one a cyan color, and she thrust Omen through Jaune's side!
The shock was over, but Jaune grunted in pain, his eyes widened with fear, he dropped his shield, and he slowly looked down to see Raven's blade embedded in his side. Jaune then coughed up blood as he realized just how bad of a situation he was in, one part of him was in shock and was crying that he was screwed, the other part in disbelief.
His vision began to go in and out.
Jaune looked at Raven, he felt a mix of anger and sadness but glared at the Bandit leader. Still not wanting to go out without a fight, Jaune put all the strength he had into his sword arm and swung as best as he could at Raven, shocking the rouge Huntress, and causing her to back up, not realizing she had let go of Omen.
'Incredible!' Vernal thought, stunned by Jaune's last effort
Jaune growled and groan in pain, he looked to see Omen still embedded into his side, and knowing what had to be done, he grabbed the blade and pulled it out, pushing past the pain as tears ran down his face.
"AHHH!" Jaune cried as he pulled Omen out of his side and threw it to the floor.
Blood leaked out of his side and Jaune tried his best to push his aura into the wound to heal it as best as he could, but his vision blurred again and he felt dazed. but he refused to fall and did his best to stand up. But he knew that this was the end, he was going to black out and Raven or Vernal were going to finish him off.
Tears fell from his eyes, but a glare graced his features. "I... I can't die!" Jaune cried his tone a mix of anger and sorrow. "I still have to... see them!" Jaune cried once more
He gripped Crocea Mors and he stepped forward, walking towards Raven, much to her and Verna's shock, and they watched as Jaune took two more steps before he fell to one knee, seething in pain. He tried to get back up but the pain intensified and he cried one more.
'Get up! Get up, you idiot!' Jaune yelled at himself, tears falling from his eyes and the blood fell from his mouth and out of his wound. 'For once in your life don't fail! Get back up and fight! You can't die now! You made a promise to go back! You gotta get back up for them! I'm gonna see them again!' Jaune thought
He still tried to get up, but the pain shot through him, and he pushed past it.
'For Ruby!' Jaune thought
He slowly got on two feet.
'For Nora!'
He began to rise and put weight on both feet, even as the pain tripled.
'For Ren!'
He finally stood up fully and stood in front of Raven with a glare as blood leaked from his mouth and his face was full of rage.
'FOR PYRRHA!' Jaune cried to himself
Raven was stunned by just how strong the young knight had to be, pushing past such pain to still try and fight. However, Jaune didn't stand tall for long as all of his energy was used to push through the pain, and his eyes rolled into the back of his head and fell backward.
Seeing the opportunity, Vernal grabbed her gun and quickly went over to Jaune and aimed it down at the unconscious teen. But her hand was grabbed and she was stunned, but she looked to her left only to see that it was Raven who stopping her from finishing off the blonde boy, confusing her right hand.
"Don't" Raven said in a stern voice.
"But Raven-!" Vernal cried
"But nothing," Raven replied, "The boy has shown fearlessness, bravery, and his strength as well as his conviction... I think he'll be of use to us," Raven said
Vernal was shocked by what her leader had said, "What!?" Vernal cried "You can't be serious! You want him to be a part of the tribe! He nearly killed me!"
"He wasn't going to, he's still too soft to kill, but he proved his strength against you, he won, which is something not many in the tribe can say," Raven said, "Perhaps this is a wake-up call for you to resume your training, I know you've been slacking off as of late,"
Vernal wanted to protest but she knew raven was right, and that made her more angry and ashamed. He balled her unarmed hand and reluctantly moved her pistol away from Jaune's direction and holstered it.
"Good," Raven said, "Now, while I stop the bleeding, wake up Shay, and tell the fool that he'll be carrying Jaune here back home as his punishment for being so easily defeated," Vernal said
Vernal didn't respond but did as she was told. Rage, embarrassment, and shame filled her entire body, as she looked back to see Raven patching up Jaune, the very same boy the nearly killed her.
Vernal glared and gritted her teeth, 'What makes him so special that Raven wants him alive!? What use could someone like him have for the tribe!?' Vernal thought angrily to herself, 'One of these days' Arc... You're gonna regret pissing me off!'

Oh man... this doesn't look good for Jaune, what could happen when Jaune wakes up and finds himself being held by a bunch of Bandits? It also seems that Jaune is on Vernal's bad side, this ain't gonna end well...
How was Jaune able to beat Vernal? Well, again, Vernal's well trained but as Raven stated, she was slacking, so she's a little rusty and doesn't have her signature pistols as she does in volume 5 as well doesn't have her Aura or Semblance unlocked yet. Speaking of Vernal's weapons, I might change them up a little, I mean I know RWBY makes up some interesting weapons, but Vernal's weapons baffle the hell out of me. This is weird because most of the time, I don't question the weapons of RWBY but there's just something with Vernal's that just seems odd to me.
Also, the updates/new chapters will be slow as this story is going to be deep and I want to explore its themes, characters, and relationships, closely.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed today's chapter!

Deaged Oz AU - Custody Arrangements
Em Pine sighed in frustration as she filled out yet another form to try to become the legal guardian of her new nephew. She didn't remember it being this complicated to claim custody of Oscar, surely it shouldn't be in Oz's case? She double checked to make sure the birthdate matched the other forms, happy she'd asked what Oz's birthday was before they'd left. (He'd sounded so confused, the poor dear, as though he didn't think he deserved one.) So much about Oz made her angry, so many red flags. If she ever found his parents, they would be having words, she was very certain of that, if nothing else. She filed the latest form and left, at least they'd promised to actually look into things this time...
"There is no record of the boy in question. Denied." Was all the letter said. Just that and nothing more, so much for the promises they'd made. She stared down at it in frustration and anger before picking it up and storming back to the train station, hoping she'd make it in time before the office closed for the day. This needed to be sorted out as soon as possible, if only to give Oz some form of legal identity.
The official behind the desk sighed. "Look, ma'am, we can't find any record of this 'Tip Pine'. Do you have any proof he exists? Pictures, physical proof? The boy himself? Even talking to your nephew would help."
"I'm not certain where the boys are right now, they're travelling with a family friend and friends of their own, but I do have pictures, yes. She dug out her scroll and started to show the pictures to the official. Lots of images of Oscar and Oz together, a few of them with her, too. There were even a few they'd sent her of all nine kids together with Qrow in the background. The official tutted to himself.
"Tell you what, contact the older boy, see if he picks up. We'll go from there." He seemed willing to listen at least, though part of that might have been the sheer adorability of the boys in question. They'd looked so sweet asleep against each other in the house in Mistral. It had been rather nice of Qrow to send her that one.
Oscar blinked as his scroll rang, he hadn't been expecting a call after all. Pulling it out, he grinned at the caller ID.
"Hi, Aunt Em!"
"Oh, hello Oscar, do you have a minute?"
"Sure, what do you need?"
"I have a gentleman here that needs to talk to you, if that's alright?" She passed the scroll over to the official, who smiled.
"Hello there, you'd be Oscar Pine, correct?"
"Yes? Hello, who are you?"
"Well, my name is Aster Lyme and I work with the families department here in Haven. I just have a few questions regarding one Tip Pine? There are no records of him, you see. Your aunt claims that you see him as a brother?"
"The families department?" Oscar sounded confused, but shrugged. "Yes, Tip's my brother now. I always wanted a brother, and now I have one!"
The man smiled to himself. "Well, you certainly do sound very attached to him. Now, the records your aunt submitted claim that he's ten? Do you know his parents, at all?"
"Uh..." Oscar looked uncomfortable for a second. "I'm not sure who they are? He's never really talked about them. I can go and get him for you?"
"That might be for the best, yes."
Oz blinked as he accepted the scroll from Oscar, who just grinned at him, looking slightly confused.
"Hello?"
"Oh, hello there. You'd be Tip, right?"
"I, well, yes, who are you?"
"I'm Aster Lyme and I need to ask some questions, if that's alright? Do you know where your parents are? Or their names?" He sounded softer than he was when talking to Oscar, his eyes sympathetic as the little boy on the other end blinked in shock.
"I... I'm not sure who they were, why do you need to know?"
Oscar, in the background, sent a horrified look towards Oz. He hadn't known that his brother didn't even know who his parents had been. Who'd raised him, how... just, what?
"I work for the family department here in Mistral, an Emerald Pine has tried to claim custody of you, but your records are incomplete. Are you sure you don't know your parent's names, can't describe them at all?"
"I'm certain. i have no memory of them, I'm sorry."
The official sighed heavily. "No need to apologise, little one. I'll mark your parents as unknown, that's alright, I just needed to check."
Oz pouted slightly at being called little one, but still looked confused. "Aunt Em is trying to claim custody of me? But... why?"
"She seems rather attached to you, as does your brother. Now, do you know where you were born, at all? Or is that unknown, too?"
"I'm sorry, sir, I'm unsure. As stated, I don't really remember that, either."
"Noted. You have a Vale accent, so I'll note that as the possible origin point, but I think that should be just about everything. Nice to meet you both. I'll let you talk to your aunt for a while and thank you for the help!" The scroll was passed back to Aunt Em, who looked rather concerned.
"Aunt Em?" Oz sounded confused. "Why exactly are you trying to adopt me? I'm really, really honored by what you and Oscar have done for me, but custody? Really?"
"Oh, Tip. Is it really that hard to accept that we want you? You're my nephew, Oscar's brother. This just makes it official. And besides, it's only guardianship, just like I have with Oscar. Just because you don't know who your parents were doesn't mean that you didn't have them and I'd no more try to replace them than I would my sister and her husband. You're just gaining more family, and so am I."
"Yeah!" Oscar chimed in. "You're ours now, my brother and Aunt Em's nephew. Whoever raised you can't claim you anymore. You're safe."
"Safe?" Oz breathed, as though tasting the word for the first time. "I am unsure just what safe feels like, really."
The others, who had been trying hard not to listen in, glanced at each other, looking vaguely horrified.
"Oh, pocket sized." Jaune breathed. "None of us would ever hurt you, you really are safe here, or at least as safe as any of us are."
Oz looked deeply touched by the statement, smiling rather sadly back at Jaune. Aunt Em smiled to herself too, thankful that her boys had friends they could rely on.
Later, months after everything had been finalised, Em Pine got a call out of the blue herself. She answered it rather gingerly, not instantly recognising the man on the other end.
"Hello there, I'm General James Ironwood and I'm calling you regarding Oz. Well, and Oscar, I suppose. I was hoping you'd sign over custody to me. Surely they'd be better under my guidance."
"Excuse me?" She stated, flatly, eyes hard. "And just why would I give up custody of my nephews to you? I also note that you seem worryingly interested in Tip for an Academy Headmaster, does your council know about your predilictions?"
James spluttered out denials, face red as Em glared at him.
"What? What? No. Why would I, why would you imply... Oz is my friend. He needs protection while he's here, they both do. Not... not, that!" It was rather amusing for Winter Schnee, who was still in the room, to see her normally unflappable general in such a state. But then, this was a call involving her uncle and she'd heard... stories, about him, over the years.
"He may need your protection while he's there, but I'm not signing over custody. You can have temporary guardianship, but Oscar is my blood nephew and, as for Tip? There's a saying here in Mistral, General."
"Oh?" He still sounded vaguely dazed, but at least with temporary custody he could recover from the conversation. He might try again, then again, he might not.
"Yes. Finder's keepers. Tip is mine, go find your own."
Winter laughed. Maybe James had finally found his equal after all.

Full Metal Alchemist RWBY Au Pt. 1
After having a conversation with someone about user's names, I sudden got this idea to write.
Unsure if it will turn out to be a full series, but I got something to start it off.
================================================
Edward Elric: Mercury Black (With a metal arm and metal legs)
Alphonse Elric: Oscar Pine (The Gentle Suit of Armor)
Winry Rockbell: Emerald Sustrai-Pine
Pinako Rockbell: Lurine Pine
Roy Mustang: Qrow Branwen (He was my first choice)
Riza Hawkeye: Winter Schee (She would have sharp eyesight in my opinion)
Ling Yao: Yang Xiao Long (This Sounded Funny to me)
Lan Fan: Blake (I couldn't help myself; Lan Fan is like a ninja after all)
Scar: Hazel Rainhart (The better choice for being Scar, this actually makes sense.)
Father: Salem (This one was obvious in my opinion.)
Greed: Cinder Fall
and that's it for the main characters, I think? If I missed anyone leave them in the comments and I will fit them into part 2.
================================================
Mercury was great friends with the pair of siblings Oscar and Emerald, living with his mother.
He grew up reading his father's book on alchemy and growing a good natured interest in it, until his mother becomes ill one day and doesn't recover.
After dies Mercury decides to use the alchemy, he had learned to bring her back to life only, Oscar happen to be there because he wanted to help, but neither knew what tragedy would befall them that day.
So, the Truth took both of his legs and Oscar's soul to pay for his sins of trying to summon from the dead, Mercury not wanting to leave Oscar to die, goes back to Truth to get him back, but instead is only able to tie his soul to a suit of armor and lose his arm in the process.
Now he is in search of the Philosopher Stone to restore him and his brother in arms.
While in the background Salem and Grim Homunculi try to take over the world.

So remember the AU idea of Oscar’s Aunt tagging along with the journey?
Well, one of the ideas I had is that Ozpin starts calling her “Auntie Em” the same way Oscar does. At first it’s only once or twice, and nobody notices except Em, who knows exactly what it means so she never brings it up; well this changes in Volume 8, after Monstra, when Oscar is finally reunited with everyone Ozpin is now calling Em “Auntie Em” consistently, as if that was her name, and the guys do notice now, it’s hard not to; and Ozpin who hadn’t noticed until someone points it out is like “shit” because he knows exactly what it means, actually Oscar is the same, he hadn’t noticed either and knows what it means.
And Em admits that this has been going on for a while, she just never brought it up because she didn’t want Oscar to be more worry than he already was; but it is more noticeable now

Discussion
The track Oscar’s life is on starts to shift.
Juniper Yew, June to her friends, has been working for Esmerelda Pine for years now. And that meant the fox faunus was also quite familiar with her boss’ nephew, Oscar Pine. He was a good kid, if a bit quiet. So, when she hears him chatting merrily away to the cow, she’s surprised. When she hears him talk about becoming a Huntsman, she’s even more surprised. Oscar had never really expressed interest in leaving the farm before, to the best of her knowledge.
The idea he might’ve had wishes beyond being a farmer had never occurred to her before, though she supposes it makes sense. His father had been a Hunter after all and, while June had never met him, Em’s always spoken highly of the man and how he would defend villages that other Hunters wouldn’t because they were too poor to be particularly profitable. So, the idea that Oscar admires him and seeks to live the same way shouldn’t be much of a shock.
She’s happy for the boy, being that dedicated to something is an idea to cherish. And with this new information in mind, the times she saw him training with his father’s old staff take on a new significance. But then she watches the boy’s face fall, and become clouded by worries about doing right by Em. About the farm. June shakes her head. “You’re too young to be worrying about stuff like that,” the faunus woman says in a low voice so that he won’t hear. “We can take care of your aunt just fine. You should be free to live your life, Os.”
June brings it up with Em later, and the older woman smiles sadly. “I should’ve known,” June’s boss says. “That boy’s always had too much of his parents in him. He’d never be happy stuck on this farm forever, not really. But he’s not interested in hurting anybody, either.” Em smiles wistfully. “He really is just like Cy was…”
“Ma’am?” June says confused.
“I’m not the first owner of Pine Farms,” Em says. “It was my parents before me, and my mother’s parents before them. We Pines have lived on this farm for a very long time. But that wasn’t enough for my brother. The first chance he got; Cyrus left for a combat school. My parents tried to talk him out of it, but Cyrus was too stubborn to ever stop when his heart was set on something. He took every job he could get in town and then some to pay for his tickets to Vale, and then worked the entire time he was a student to keep himself enrolled.” There’s a bittersweet smile on Em’s face. “That brother of mine couldn’t stand being cooped up here when people needed help. And Jade was the same way, even though she wasn’t a Huntress.”
“Jade was a field medic, right?” June asks, trying to remember what she’d been told about Em’s sister-in-law and Em nods.
“That’s right. It’s no coincidence that we lost my brother not long after he lost his wife,” the older woman said sadly. “When he got in over his head protecting the latest village that couldn’t afford more than one Huntsman, and one willing to work dirt cheap at that, she would patch him up. But she died not too long after the boy was born… and, well, Cyrus never could bring himself to slow down.”
“You’re going to have to talk to Os,” June says. “I doubt that he’s going to bring it up himself.”
Em hums in agreement. “His birthday is coming up,” the elder Pine notes. “But the next term won’t be until next fall. I think that’ll be as good a time as any, don’t you?”
June’s purple eyes sparkle. “If it’s alright with you ma’am, I want to tell the other farmhands,” the young woman said. “Oscar’s a good kid, we all like him. If we pool our lien, I’m sure we could get something nice to help him out.”
Em chuckles. “Go right ahead,” she says merrily. “What you all do on your own time isn’t any concern of mine.”

Oscar Pine Redesign/Rewrite
(Note: I do like Oscar how he is, he is my favorite character, but I wanted to do something fun because midterms are kicking my ass and if I have to use more brain cells towards my academics without a break I will lose it.)
So… I made him a fox Faunus, not only because we only have one in the main cast, but because it would be interesting. (And even more adorable)
Tumblr media
He’s a little more imaginative here, while still carrying his sarcastic humor/streak. I decided to double up his fairytale inspirations with The Little Prince and his original Tip! I also added some actual pine green because not only does it look good with the orange but because HIS NAME IS OSCAR PINE! PINE!!
I also thought of the idea that he got his last name from his mother, a huntress who decided to retire when she gave birth to her only child, only to pass away after defending that son from a Grimm attack. Everything other than that is about the same, works on a farm, lives with his aunt, but has more respect for hunters/huntresses.
Okay, I get that his magic is supposed to be his semblance, but dang it, I wanna explore the possibility of him having a semblance but it going out of wack because of the sudden invasion of magic.
Tumblr media
(The name is a work in progress.)
He got his semblance not long after he lost his mom, out of the wish to be able to save a couple of minutes with the people he cares about. (Also because I like the idea of semblances reflecting some kind of trauma idk call me a weird psychology major) When he stops time, he has to be touching someone or something so they can still move around.
Volume 6-9:
Tumblr media
This is what boredom and the need for a break gets ya. Rwby fanart.

Fairly Off-Topic
Ruby: Woah! Action-figure Jaune!
Jaune: No, Ruby! It's actually me! Someone shrunk me down!
Ruby: Shrank?
Jaune: Shrunk! Shrank! Whatever! Get me back to normal size!
Ruby: Who could have done this?!
---------------------------------------------------
Ozpin: YOU'RE IN MY WORLD NOW, JAUNE ARC!
Ozpin: AND YOU'LL DIE IN MY WORLD!
---------------------------------------------------
Jaune: I'm noticably smaller than this ruler! I'm, like, six inches!
Yang: Snrk!
Weiss: Shut up.
---------------------------------------------------
Ozpin: What's wrong, Arc? AFRAID?!
Ozpin: Don't have your HUNTRESSES to help you?!
Ozpin: You'll die here! You'll die here like the roach you are, and at the size of one, too!
Ozpin: I MADE YOU SMALL, JAUNE ARC! The final sound you hear will be my laughter!
---------------------------------------------------
Jaune: Help...
Blake: Huh... Who knew ladybugs could be so vicious?
Yang: How did you almost die from that?!
Weiss: I don't want to think about it...
Ruby: Shoo! Ladybug! Shoo!
---------------------------------------------------
Ozpin: I'LL KILL YOU WITH NOTHING, JAUNE ARC!
Ozpin: I'll kill you with the suggestion of knowledge! The world is mine to command, Arc! And soon you will be, too, as well as your SILVER! EYED! HUNTRESS!
---------------------------------------------------
Jaune: Achoo!
Ruby: How did he freeze?
Weiss: Your body can't support you in this shade. You'll freeze to death!
Jaune: Th-Thank you...
---------------------------------------------------
Ozpin: I'LL TURN OUT YOUR LIGHTS, JAUNE ARC! BLACKOUT!
Ozpin: (Reading his files) I see you like Bulima games, Jaune Arc. You've been playing a lot of Kung-Fu Ninja Death Slayer Ultimate Battle 2. Enjoying some quality time with Just Maria?
Ozpin: What's the matter, Arc? Are you losing your cool? Are you giving me THE COLD SHOULDER?!
Ozpin: I have your Playstation Network password, Jaune Arc! Let's look at the trophies and see what kind of man you are! You didn't have Ruby play these games for you, did you?
Ozpin: F! FOR FINAL BREATH!
---------------------------------------------------
Jaune: Where am I? What is this place?
Ozpin: WELCOME TO MY MIND PALACE, ARC!
Ozpin: You'll never escape the Huntsman's dream, Arc... I SEE YOU, ARC!
Ozpin: If you paid attention to your classes, you may have learned of Hunter-Gatherers... I am going to HUNT you down and GATHER YOUR SILVER-EYED HUNTRESS!
Jaune: Who the hell are you?
Ozma: Me? I'm just a guy. Don't worry about me.
Ozpin: Does this resemble your uncle, Arc? Memories of your sweet aunt?
Ozpin: Do you remember when you left the Non-Descript Winter Holiday party all those years ago without saying good-bye? I assure you, they do!
Oscar: Hi there, Jaune!
Oscar: I'm Oscar Pine! I love you!
Jaune: What the fuck- (Turns away) I can't fucking do this...
Ozpin: The clock's ticking, Arc... 30 seconds. Is that enough time? Is it ever enough time? 5 seconds!
Jaune: I did it!
Ozpin: FUCK!
Jaune: There's the way out!
Ozpin: You'll never solve my spinning platform puzzle, Arc! Not even I could.
Ozpin: AND I INVENTED IT!
Ozpin: I've taken away the platform, Jaune Arc, leaving you stranded with nothing but time to think!
Ozpin: Remember, Arc? Remember her promise? You said you'd love her until the end of time. The end of time is coming, and even though she said she would love you back, I must ask! What do you do when she can't keep her end of the deal?! How do you cope?! We create these mind-games for ourselves in our grief. Our shame. To what end, Arc?
Ozpin: WAKE UP!
---------------------------------------------------
Jaune: AGH!
Pyrrha: Jaune! Are you okay?
Jaune: I'm... I'm normal-sized? (Sighs) Finally...
Pyrrha: You were having a nightmare.
Jaune: Was I? It felt so real. But it doesn't matter now, right? Because everything is back to normal.
---------------------------------------------------
Ozpin: Or is it, Arc?

🌹 A Year of Rosegarden Prompt 10: Death/Remembrance🌹
@ayearofrosegarden
He first saw her in the hospital, coming out of someone's room. His aunt was in the room with his grandmother, talking about something personal he wasn't privvy to. Ever since they'd arrived, dread had hung heavy over his head.
Until it was replaced by the surprise of seeing her.
Sheathed in red with a scythe twice her size. She was petit, her skin pale enough that it could be mistaken for bone at a distance.
"Excuse me?"
The girl made a noise that could only be described as adorable as her weapon clattered to the ground, though no-one around seemed to take notice. The girl clapped a pair of eyes the color of mercury onto him, astonishment written on her face.
"You saw me?" she asked more than said.
Oscar nodded.
"Why... wouldn't I?"
He felt his cheeks darken from the scrutiny the girl was giving him, the heavy sound of her boots on the linoleum tile as she came into his personal space. She squinted, gaze flitting across his face as if she was counting every freckle and blemish on it.
"You're not dying or dead," she finally stated.
"My last doctor's appointment went really well," said Oscar.
The girl shook her head.
"I don't get it."
"Don't get what?"
The girl waved her hands at him.
"This! You shouldn't see me! The living shouldn't see me!"
Oscar's eyebrow rose.
"You're a ghost?"
The girl snorted
"No. I'm death.. well, death-in-training. I'm supposed to take souls of the departed to the land of the dead..."
Watching her babble (cutely) Oscar couldn't help the idea that wormed it's way into his head.
"Could I ask you a favor?"
The girl frowned.
"That's... not really my job..."
"Please... my grandmother... we're here to visit her. The doctor's say that she probably doesn't have a long time and she's in a lot of pain..."
The girl cocked her head to the side in curiosity.
"Who's your grandmother?"
"Esmeralda Pine."
"Right. Leukemia. I remember now."
Oscar nodded.
"Could you make sure that... that she goes peacefully?"
For a while, the girl said nothing, just standing across from him while doctors and nurses passed them, paying no heed to the boy talking to an invisible girl. Finally, the girl in red spoke.
"I'll see what I can do."
The pressure that had been in Oscar's heart since the announcement of his grandmother's illness drained and he smiled at the girl.
"Thank you so much, miss."
The girl smiled back.
"By the way," she said, "my name is Ruby."

hello- [i hope you are having a nice time existing]
i honestly cannot for the life of me think of a question for you so uhhhhh gimme ur favourite fable headcanon[s] you have.
i will eat them
please and thank u /nf /lh
Favorite hcs.. Hmmm this is probably a decently long post so...
Little rae would give little ic funky aura things if he found them to put in potions.
Also Ic and Rae (and isla) have a very specific whistle that was one little little icarus did and the rest of them picked up.
Little centross was the best at hide and seek.
Icarus's feathers will get everywhere. Fully convinced that currently there are some in Morningstar castle. How did they get there no clue.
Jamie knows all the gossip all the time. I mean, people tell their secrets to their pets all the time.
Jamie can understand Ic's birb whistles
Had he been given the chance to Centross would've made an amazing knight for either wolf's fam or the morningstars
The necklaces that soul gave isla came in a crimson wood box with an orchid on the top (totally not a cosplay prop I have)
Soul, Isla, and Alerion (and probably Vivienne) had a book club (read: probably a gossip group)
Had anyone gotten therapy, fewer people would've died
Ocie does the thing where you put only your eyes above water and creep towards people
Wolf is one of the people who runs the warmest (probably right behind Athena and Jamie)
Atlas has amazing emotional reading skills
Oscar reminds Len of little Athena
If given flowers, they will end up in Oscars mouth
Unblinking stare into wolf's eyes (gold prebby) [<- Oscar mostly but thena occasionally]
Connor the crusty white dog and Ulysses sound a lot alike
Oscar will bite those he gets bad vibes from (learned from his aunt chaos <3 encouraged by mother)
Aax enjoys ridiculous amounts of humidity
Caspian perpetually smells like pine needles
Ic will wrap people in their elytra when hugging
Ocue will grab peoples ankles when they're swimming to startle them
I made most of these up on the go for 20 minutes but it was fun and I do adore these.

Rg drabble #1: After Oscar brings Ruby home for the first time
Oscar wished Ruby farewell with his aunt as Ruby set off for home. He stood there long after his aunt went back to the house, watching as Ruby’s form fades into the distance, dark cloak and all. When he joined his aunt in the farmhouse later, she told him to wait by the fireplace mantle as she disappeared further into the house. He sat on the couch wondering what this was about and just as his eyes started to drift closed she re-emerged. There’s a box in her hands, ornate with silvery detailing of pine trees and ferns. She sat down next to him and placed the box gingerly in his hands. It’s smooth, and cold but something about it had his stomach fluttering. “Your father gave this to my sister, right when he was about your age. They would want you to have it,” Aunt em opened the clasps to it. The inside was lined with a red velvety material, making a soft place for the item residing inside. His breath catched a little when he first saw it, glinting in the fireplace’s light. A simple silver chain with a ring attached. The ring held a green stone, with flecks of red, orange and gold adorning it and the metal part of the ring was carved like the bark of a tree. He stared at it, enraptured as he ran his hands over the textured ring. Aunt Em picked it up, gently placing the ring and chain in his palm, and closed his other hand around it. “I trust you know what to do with it,” She said, a knowing glint in her eyes and a mischievous smile on her face. She left him there, on the couch when she retired to bed for the night, sitting with a silly smile on his face. His cheeks were warm and his ears were red with the thoughts of his future. His future with her. Years later, Ruby Rose, the hero of Remnant, could always be seen with something silver glinting around her neck.
(lemme know if I should write more, constructive criticism is welcome)

Deaged Oz AU - The Farming Daze
Oz stretched, moving into a set of warm up exercises that felt as familiar as a second skin. He was still slower than he'd like, but the reflexes were slowly coming back. He glanced over at Oscar, who was watching, sighed and stopped.
"We really do need to source you a weapon, Oscar. At least temporarily. You stated you wanted to learn, after all?"
"Yes, of course I do! But... I don't have anything. You're really certain we can find one?"
"Anything can be a weapon, if you believe in it. However, if we can find something to use as a base, I may be able to alter it for you. It would be better with a workshop, but that can come later. Is there anything in particular you'd be interested in attempting to learn to use?"
"Something with an edge. That or a gun, do you think we could find a gun? Sorry, I know you're more comfortable with the cane, but... I don't think I would be?"
"Different people find different weaponry preferable. You don't have the training yet to use a blunt object as well as you might one day be able to. I do, but... hmm. Maybe we should ask your aunt if she knows of anything? Or at least if she knows of any tools that might help? I rather doubt we could locate a gun, however that's always a thought for the future?" Oz sounded amused, even though it was obvious that he wasn't a massive fan of guns.
"Maybe. Oz? You promise that you'll teach me to be a real huntsman?"
"Of course I will. It would be my honor to help guide you, Oscar, even if you only ever use it to kill the local Grimm."
"I. Okay. Thank you." Oscar looked like he wanted to say something but bit it back. Oz looked concerned, but decided not to press the issue.
Going back inside to find Oscar's aunt, Oz considered. As a farm, there might be something in an outbuilding, but... part of him wondered about Oscar's parents, whether they might have had anything. There was no guarantees that Oscar would want to use something like that, of course, but it might be an option if there was nothing else available.
Aunt Em looked confused for a second. "I... I'm not sure, honestly? There might be something in one of the further barns? Back when Oscar wanted to go to Signal, the plan was always to let him make a weapon there..."
"Understood." Oz said. "Oscar? Could you show me where the barns are located? If nothing else, we could take the time to explore a bit?" A very brief grin crossed his face at the thought and his eyes lit up behind the goggles they'd found as a temporary measure to shield his eyes from the light.
Aunt Em smiled at that. Oz had almost acted like a ten year old in that moment. Almost. Ah well, small steps...
Oscar looked worried as they both scrambled over the rough terrain towards the barns. Oz's limp was more noticeable the further they walked, but he seemed to be coping well enough.
"Are you sure you're okay, Oz?"
"I'll be just fine, Oscar. If I need any help, well, the cane does work as a walking aid as much as a weapon for times such as these."
"You shouldn't need the cane for that child, I'm sorry..." Ozymandias' voice echoed in his mind and Oz froze in shock. He hadn't heard that voice in years, why would he now?
"... Ozymandias?" He thought back, tentatively, but there was no response. Shaking his head, he grinned up at Oscar and kept walking.
"I'll be alright. Besides, I think we can see the barns from here. My, they are in bad shape, aren't they. Maybe you should stay outside, just in case it's dangerous in there."
Oscar stared at him for a moment, visibly comparing their physical statures, a strangely protective look on his face and Oz sighed.
"Then again... maybe not. I am not actually a child, Oscar, I can look after myself, you realise?"
"You're tiny and you limp. Besides, what if there's something on a high shelf?"
"Then I doubt either one of us could reach it, you are not really that much taller than me, after all."
"Hey! I'd still have a better chance than you would!" Oscar sounded wounded, but the smile he gave Oz was fond. "Hey, I wonder if this is what it's like actually having a brother?"
Oz's eyes were soft. "From recollection, it does feel rather similar. Well, well. That is rather interesting, isn't it?"
"If I'm your older brother, then there's no way I'm letting you leave here on your own, okay?"
"You may be something approaching a brother, Oscar, but you do realise you are not, by any measure, actually my elder?" There was a laugh in Oz's voice.
Oscar rolled his eyes and entered through the broken door, turning to quirk an eyebrow at Oz. "Yeah, yeah. Are you coming or not?"
Oz followed him in, watching his steps carefully in the gloom. There was no way of knowing if the floor was entirely level, but thankfully both boys had packed flashlights.Switching his on, he swept the area, looking for the telltale glint of metal. Ahead, Oscar sounded triumphant.
"Hey! Look, I found something!" The scythe he held up, however, was rust pitted and heavily corroded. Oz pulled a face.
"I'm sorry, Oscar, I do not believe that is rescuable without either a replacement blade, maybe the handle, too, or some sort of minor miracle."
"Can't you... you know? Magic it?" The scythe's wooden handle took that opportunity to start leaving flakes on Oscar's gloves and he pouted, seeing Oz's point.
"Magic cannot fix everything and, even if I were to use it on that, I doubt it would stand up to any serious usage. No, we need to keep looking. Maybe one of the other barns may be in better shape?" He glanced up at the roof, or more accurately the hole in it, looking doubtful.
"Yeah, maybe." Oscar left the barn, Oz in tow and went to look at the next one. At least the door to this one seemed more sturdy, surely a promising sign? It was also locked. Oscar looked discouraged but it was Oz's turn to raise an eyebrow. He also raised his cane and proceeded to open the door via the other route. The way the hinges creaked definitely made them both think this barn was certainly a better option than the last. Shining their torches upwards, they could find nothing wrong with the roof and though it smelled musty in there, at least it didn't smell damp. Definite improvements.
There was a sound in the corner and Oz went into a fighting stance. He relaxed it a few seconds later as what was probably a cat streaked past them, obviously startled by their entry. That made both of them chuckle a bit, though they might need to work out just how it got in, since the place had been locked up.
Moving along the walls, they could find plenty of tools. They were even still in good shape, though most of them were just hammers, screwdrivers, spanners, that sort of thing. Maybe, if they could find enough other items, they could build something? Again, though, that would depend on Oscar. Whose sudden excited yell ahead sounded rather like a very good sign.
Moving to join him, Oz watched as Oscar happily swung a short axe, unlike the scythe in the other barn it looked spotless and more than sound enough as a practice weapon. He wouldn't necessarily recommend using it to kill Grimm any time soon, but at least Oscar was happy with it.
"Do we wish to keep looking, or will that do for now?"
"It's perfect! Maybe a longer handle later, but... I have a weapon all my own now!"
"I wonder if we should inform your aunt as to this barn and the state of the other one? There are things here that she would probably have mentioned had she remembered them, I'm curious as to just how long this has been here?"
"Ages! The farm's old, been in the family for generations. I thought Aunt Em told you that? But yeah, it's full of places like this. There's a well and old farm buildings and all sorts of things scattered around. We can go look at some other stuff tomorrow, maybe? If you're my brother now, that makes this your home, too!"
Oz looked poleaxed at that statement. "Oscar, you... you even sound like you mean that."
"Of course I do! I've always wanted a brother!"
Oz was mostly quiet on the journey back, Oscar's words had given him a lot to think about. If he couldn't stop him from going with him and, he was beginning to suspect the futility of that, then how would he ever protect him, out on the road? There had been so many things, even in the barns, that were too high for him to reach. What if he was too small, now, to fight the Grimm properly?
What if this war was one he really could never win?

Oscar Pine Headcannons
As I worked on finishing writing several ideas involving the farmboy I thought I throw out my headcannons that I mostly use in works regarding him.
Tumblr media
Oscar is great at picking up strays. Emerald, Raven, Ozpin(Ozma), Mercury, and more that I could place, but can't at the moment.
I say that those end up as vessals for Ozma can't have a semblance, and instead have a better maniuplation of magic.
I believe that Raven, Qrow(After they rekindle their friendship), and Robyn would call him Little Prince for fun.
Every good natured adult that meets Oscar wants to adopt him. By the end of the series his Aunt will probably have to fight for custody of her own nephew.
Oscar has the burn scar from Salem, and even better when he was fighting grim in the desert he ends up getting a slash scar identical to the mark that Ruby left on fake Oscar.
When Glynda arrives to offer Aid, Oscar retreats in his mind so Ozpin and Glynda can have a private conversation without him evasdropping.
Oscar lost his parents to a large scale attack.
Oscar knows how to cook several different country foods that he uses to help get over the missing and the dead.
Oscar starts to wear his orange/rainbow colored rag/hankerkif, on his right leg, similar to how he saw Yang wear it.
That's all I have for now, but its real fun to come up with these ideas.
