The loss of (well made) manuscript pens makes me sad. Osmiroids and sheaffers will only become harder to find as time passes, and I just don't see any company making models like those again. I could go on and on but I'll sum it up by saying that because they're not marketable enough, the quality of what IS produced will continue to decline until they're gone. The death of good art tools due to greed is killing meeeee

#examples of the decline: lamy and kaweco stub nibs as well as the low budget (albeit relatively high price) of pilot parallels #twsbi stopped making 1.5mm iirc which already wasn't the best but it was better than lamy. and kaweco itself is infamous... -_- #basically finding a 3 tine manuscript nib is limited to two dip pen brands: speedball (BAD but usable) and tachikawa (ok?) #BRING BACK OSMIROID

Empecé con las letras que nos enseñó el maestro (llegamos a la “M” antes de la pandemia); nos dijo que son góticas y que la altura debe ser igual a siete veces el ancho de la plumilla. Como me fui chueco en el primer renglón, tracé líneas con lápiz en los siguientes para evitarlo.

Usé una pluma fuente de la marca Osmiroid; no recuerdo cuál plumilla usé ni la marca de la tinta.

Hi! What materials do you use for your traditional art?

hi!! i don’t really use anything special. for the piece i posted earlier this week, i used a pentel pocket brush pen (which i love a lot, though it doesn’t store a ton of ink), and one of my mom’s calligraphy dip pens. i think it might be an old osmiroid? but i’m not really sure. it looks like this:

and then i used higgins waterproof drawing ink.

#the reason i think the pen might be an osmiroid is that it was stored in an osmiroid case #BUT the case only mentions the two other pens. not the dip pen. so who knows. #w.ask #anon

Pardon the dirty pen cap. But it so happens that i decided to load a little bit of pink ink in the FPR Indus on a Wednesday so this quote is quite appropriate. Melissa found this in a local thrift shop today. It is the Osmiroid 65 drawing pen set. I think this one was made in the 1960s. I had to clean out some bad ink, but it still works. And the ink sac still has some life in it. I ended up putting the soft/fine nib in.
