*puts hand on your shoulder* Hey. First of all, this blog is a 100% pro-cringe zone where everyone (especially me) can be as cringy as they want. Second of all, incredibly good taste in fictional characters. And third of all… I know exactly how you feel! I mean, it’s no secret that I love both Iyami and Nezumi Otoko and, while they’re inarguably pretty scummy guys… they lead pretty deprived lives! I don’t think anyone who’s seen Osomatsu-kun/-san or Gegege no Kitarō has never wanted one of their scams to work for like, once, so they can have a good meal and a roof over their heads. They’re pretty much textbook examples of jerkass woobies!

Ofc, they’re not super popular characters but we’re definitely not the only ones who like them! I know a good amount of people who do too, either just one of them or both! I mean, you’d expect for there to be some overlap between people who like the bucktoothed shōwa era con man who thinks he’s French and people who like the bucktoothed shōwa era con man who’s a yōkai.

I rambled here for a bit but my point was… you’re definitely not alone! Being emotional about fictional characters is a super common phenomenon (I mean, we wouldn’t have fandom if it wasnt!) and so is wishing that we could personally bring happiness into their lives! I’ve drawn self-insert art of my Osomatsu-sona just bear hugging Iyami more times than I’d like to admit, heh.
