Motto KISU Shite
Motto KISU shite by rnhr
"I'm sorry!" He apologizes to the person he bumped into.
Upon observing the person, Rin surmises they don't seem to be in pain anywhere, but he still feels bad nonetheless. He has yet to see their face properly with their head ducked and their fringe covering half their face. When they speak, their voice sounds a little deep, but gentle, monotonous, "I'm sorry, too."
"Uh, no need to apologize. It was my fault for using my phone while walking—"
The person suddenly looked up, and blue eyes presented themselves to Rin. It was odd what simply looking at the stranger had reduced Rin into, but for what it's worth, he's unable to continue with what he was supposed to say, tongue-tied. They look... quite... "It's okay. I was also looking at my phone, so I didn't see you. Half of it is my fault."
Oh.

god damn it i’m using a character from sk8 the infinity as a voiceclaim because it’s a perfect match to one of my characters and looking thru stuff i just.......the voice actors seem so fucking fun i feel like im being lured into watching this damn show
#kibumblabs#im TEMPTED#the dub is so good though honest to god like what the fuck they let so much slide nowadays#i sound like a boomer i know but like seriously dubs ive seen as of late are so much more realistic and casual like is that just me???#but yeah i absolutely adore the fact that there was not a single voice actor i recognized on the list at first like that is GREAT#i ADORE having newer/younger/less popular voice actors be the forefront and it seems like this show really presents how well it pays off#to cast new people instead of having todd haberkorn play his 5000000th role as someone who doesn't even make sense for his voice#yes im talking about haru free yes i'm still mad. watch 50% off instead. the real dub is absolutely garbage except like....sousuke#rei is ok too like i know thats j michael tatum whos also a big big big voice actor but that was a very good casting choice so yeah#sousuke's voice is one of the most realistic and imma be real by FAR the sexiest and hes a new character what are the odds#nagisa haru and rin piss me off to an absurd level like those voices. were absolutely garbage choices. and theyre three main characters.#other ones i was okay with were gou and kisumi#i didnt watch all of the dubbed ver so i dont remember some of the voices but those ones were okay#both were big voice actor names though i think- like im pretty fuckin sure kisumi was eric vale. i know eric fuckin vale when i hear him#and gou.......jamie marchi? yeah jamie marchi wow my memory of voice actors is pretty damn good. yes i recognize most of them from hetalia#what are you gonna do. i cant erase it from my memory so fuck you. anyway i got off track here alot point is the sk8 dub is very good#and so is haikyuu's from what i can tell so im pretty interested in both now hhhh they just seem honest to god really funny w/ the dub

Free! Headcanon - How They React When You Blurt Out Your Insecurities
(A/N: I will likely, at some point in the future, write one for characters such as Kisumi, Momo, Nitori, Sousuke and any other character requested. For now, enjoy this one for the Iwatobi boys and the Matsuoka siblings.)
Makoto Tachibana
Tumblr media
He hadn’t expected you to blurt out your feelings of insecurity about yourself.
You were one of the most confident people he knew, even if he did know about your frequent anxieties over what he viewed as quite minor things (he knew and understood that they felt massive to you).
But, never in a million years did he imagine you’d be insecure about yourself, more specifically your body.
After all, you were his girlfriend. Even if his opinion may have been biased, he believed that you were the prettiest girl in the world, and there was no changing that for him.
Due to not expecting this outburst from you, he has no idea what to say.
He sits silently in place beside you, just watching your tears cascade down your puffy face.
That broke his heart.
Acting on impulse, he lifts your face and brushes your tears away with the backs of his fingers, before pulling you onto his lap (even if you protest).
He wraps his arms around you securely, resting his chin on your shoulder.
“(N/N), I know it doesn’t matter that I think you’re the prettiest girl in the world, and I know that I can’t change how you feel about yourself, but I at least want to help. I’ll do anything if it helps you, okay?”
You nod, and he kisses your temple again, smiling faintly.
Gou Matsuoka
Tumblr media
Gou freaks out a little.
Did she make you feel this way about yourself?
Did she do or say something to make you feel less than the perfect person she saw before her?
Regardless, she still feels like she has some responsibility as your girlfriend to make you feel like you are gorgeous. She feels bad for not being attentive enough to see that you were insecure.
“I think you’re beautiful, (N/N). How could you think so low of yourself?”
She wraps her arms around you, almost suffocating you in a warm, tight hug.
Like Makoto, she feels like she needs to help you feel better about yourself in some way.
“How can I make you feel better about yourself? What do you need me to do?”
“I-I don’t know.” you mutter in response.
“Do you want me to tell you how pretty you are?”
“...I guess so.” you say sheepishly, cheeks heating up as you wipe away your tears. “Th-thanks, Gou.”
Rei Ryugazaki
Tumblr media
As one could guess, Rei isn’t amazing at comforting people.
Not to say he didn’t want to help you, or that he didn’t have the ability to make you feel better.
He so desperately wants to articulate how beautiful and wonderful you are, at least through the lenses of his red-rimmed glasses, but he just can’t.
However, he is caught so off guard, that he can’t help but blurt out: “Why would you think that about yourself, (Y/N)?”
“Because, I’m just not as pretty as other girls. It doesn’t matter if you think I am...Doesn’t change how I see myself...”
Rei just isn’t having this. In a moment of improvisation, he allows his thoughts to escape his mouth without thought.
“...You are beautiful, (Y/N). But, you’re human too, just like everyone else. All humans are imperfect to some degree, even if we all try to be as perfect as possible. But...your physical imperfections don’t denote your value as a person. They don’t make you any less beautiful, and anyone who treats you otherwise is no where near as perfect as you are.”
This brings a smile to your face, which had initially held an intrigued yet shocked expression. Sure, it couldn’t completely solve your problem forever, but it makes you feel a lot less insecure in that moment, and a little less insecure in the long run.
Though Rei had insisted no one was perfect, you can’t help but think that Rei is a perfect boyfriend.
Haruka Nanase
Tumblr media
Haru knows that you’re insecure long before you tell him.
As the most attentive and perceptive boyfriend you could’ve ever dreamed of having, he noticed every little thing you did, be it as subtle as a whisper caught in the wind.
This meant he’d observed, on numerous occasions, you pinching at your chub when you thought you were alone, or at least when you thought he wasn’t looking. He noticed how you always made sure to wear clothes that concealed as much of your body as humanly possible, even when you’d end up wearing what seemed to be winter clothes during the summer.
He simply listens as you lament about your self-hatred. His heart sinks a little with every word, but he’s glad you are comfortable enough to tell him about how insecure you are.
Haru’s always been a guy of few words, which is why he expresses his love for and adoration of you by wrapping his arms around your shoulders. He knows you’re smart enough to understand what he was saying. Whether you’ll listen to what he was saying through his actions is something he can’t predict.
He quickly realises that you listened when you bury your face in his chest, which soon became drenched by your warm tears.
Using his thumb, he caresses the back of your hand, and you feel a little more okay.
Nagisa Hazuki
Tumblr media
When you express your feelings of low self-esteem, Nagisa seems a lot more upset than you are.
You watch the tears prick in the corners of his eyes, thoroughly confusing you.
“Why are you crying?” you question. Sure, you were upset, but not to the point of tears. Is he really that upset about what you’ve said?
“Because, (N/N), you’re so amazing. How could you not like yourself?!” he said between sobs.
“Look...you thinking I’m amazing doesn’t really change how I feel about myself.” you explain, holding back tears of your own; Nagisa being so upset about it breaks your heart just a little. “Raising my self-esteem’s something I have to do for myself, but you can still help me feel better when I’m upset about it, okay?”
Nagisa wipes away his tears and nodded.
Before you can do or say anything else, Nagisa pulls you into the tightest hug of your life. A few moments later, he holds you at arms-length.
“I love you so much, (N/N).” he tells you, causing your heart to skip a beat.
“I love you too, Nagi.” you respond.
He grins at you and presses a kiss to your nose, causing you to giggle.
Your insecurities melt away for that night.
Rin Matsuoka
Tumblr media
Rin is overwhelmed when you blurt out your insecurities.
He’s always known you to be insecure, but he never knew how badly your insecurities affected you, especially because you often acted arrogant and confident.
Like Makoto, he doesn’t quite know what to say at first. Like Gou, he’s consumed by guilt, thinking he could’ve, somehow, prevented you from feeling this way. Like Haru, his heart sank. Like Nagisa, tears prick in the corners of his eyes. Like Rei, he’s not that excellent  at comforting people.
He just watches as you bury your reddened face into his pillow, as the both of you are sat on his dorm’s bed; you are completely embarrassed that you’d just cracked so badly in front of your boyfriend to the point of not wanting to look at him.
He really wants to stop you from crying and feeling so bad about yourself, but he just doesn’t know what to do nor say. This just amplifies his guilt.
How come he, the guy who was supposed to make you feel like the greatest girl in the world, couldn’t make you hate yourself any less?
You tense up when you hear a quiet whimper. You look up and see Rin watching you with tears rolling down his cheeks.
You look back at him.
“What’s wrong?” you ask shyly.
“I...I just wish there was something I could do to show you how I see you...” Rin says in a low voice, which wavers a little.
“There’s not much you can do or say to change how I feel, Rin.” you sigh, eyes locking to the pillow. You slowly look up at him. “But...I could kinda do with a hug...”
Within moments, Rin as his arms locked around you. He kisses your cheek and gently rubs your arm with his thumb. The hug’s enough to make you feel a little better.

Haruka Birthday 2020
Tumblr media
The constant rain up until yesterday miraculously cleared. I headed toward the place we always meet up. It's the first time in a while we've agreed to go out to dinner.
"There's somewhere I want to go today"
I quickly realized something was happening. He's never been good at hiding things. Or rather, he can't. He gets excited and talks fast...... He hasn't changed since we were kids.
He should just talk normally and not hide things...... as I thought that I walked along with him for a while. We arrived at a place I didn't recognize. It was a fancy building. The door had a piece of paper stuck to it saying "reserved for party".
That's right. Today is-...
When he opened the door Asahi and Kisumi were waiting with crackers they quickly popped.
"Happy birthday, Haru!"
"Hey hey, Haru, you've become even more of an adult now huh?!"
Asahi said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders. Kisumi was smiling happily beside us. It seems that Asahi and Kisumi have to be the ones who set up most of this for my birthday.
The guy who dragged me here, Makoto, smiling happily.
I can see a birthday cake on the table. And is that mackerel acqua pazza......!
Behind me, Kisumi started talking joyfully.
"Rin told me how to make that! I heard that you two have been exchanging recipes? But Rin said "I have something I want to say to Haru!" what happened?"
Ah. Rin was probably upset that I wasn't making the recipes he sent me.
I'm not really making any excuses, I've tried to make them a few times. It's just that Rin makes too many dishes with meat. That's why I-... As soon as I thought that my phone suddenly vibrated. It seems he has something to say to that.
"Happy birthday! You're not making any of my recipes are you? Since I figured it can't be helped I told them how to make a fish dish that it seemed like you would eat. It's a special version with spices from here! Haru, it's okay to say it's good honestly, okay?"
I laughed at Rin's message displayed on my screen. I picture Rin grinning proudly in my mind. It's the same as when I met him, hating to lose and strong, that smile full of confidence.
The acqua pazza certainly wasn't bad. I didn't hate it. But I was confident I could make it better. I can't lose to Rin. That's obvious.
Then I got a message from Sousuke. It just said "grats" so at first I didn't know what he was talking about but then I figured out he was probably congratulating me so I said "thanks" in return.
"Haru-chan!" "Haruka-senpai!"
Nagisa and Rei were displayed on the phone that Makoto was holding.
"We can't celebrate with you together this year but I wanted to surprise you no matter what so I talked with Mako-chan and came up with the idea for the party!"
Of course what started this plan was Nagisa. Nagisa is always thinking about how to make people happy. That's right there was also that time back then that he made me a birthday cake out of sand at the training camp.
"Haruka-senpai, happy birthday! We all thought really hard about what presents to send you so please enjoy them as you use them!"
"That's right! You got protein from Gou-chan and a dumbbell from Romi-chan, and the assorted dried fish set from Suzu-chan, and the tea set from Ayu-chan and then there's-......!
We sent a "picture of me enjoying the party" at Nagisa and Rei's request. I don't know if that really is a repayment for this but they seemed really happy.
After a while Ikuya showed up.
"Congrats, Haru. We went to go buy you a present after practice so sorry we're late. Please use this if you'd like."
Touno was also with him.
"Ikuya had no idea what to get you so I gave him advice about what's popular"
When I opened the wrapping paper there was a swim towel. It seems it from the same brand and the ones that Ikuya and Touno use. I think I'll use it and the next training camp. For some reason Ikuya and Touno both seemed happy too.
I talked to Ikuya and the others about training camps and playing at the game center for a while.
Time felt like it was passing slowly. It was a feeling I hadn't had in a while. The sound of their happy voices echoed in the room.
Suddenly my eyes met with Makoto's. That's right I feel like Makoto is always here for my birthday. I spaced out thinking about it. Makoto always smiles at me. I shrugged my shoulders without really thinking about it. I was probably smiling a little.
"Let's go ahead and eat this special cake soon, Haru!"
Asahi led me to sit in the birthday seat and I blew out the candles. A day like this isn't bad.
Thank you for today, everyone.

I wrote this just cause I noticed, I wasn’t the only one thinking about this happening. Tagging @rinmatsuokatrash, I know it’s not exactly what you wanted and I’m not a writer, but I know you were thinking about it, too <3  And yeah, I totally agree with "with how oblivious Rin is I feel like Haru could literally ask him to be his boyfriend, and somehow Rin would still misunderstand” post (he already told him to call, right to his face and he was still like “I really want to call him, but should I tho?” I was like “Nevermind, Einstein” lmao). But I honestly think that at one point a long time ago Rin thought that the possibilty of his feelings being requited was zero, and now he just idiotically thinks that Haru’s “I’m totally in love” face when he looks at him is meant for a tree behind him aparently *smh*
Here the link to AO3.
Just Be With Me.
Rin accidentally finds out what Hiyori said to Haru (cause I've been fucking dreaming about this since 3x04 lol). Which leads to an unexpected turn of events.
Set after arcades, but doesn't fit the canon timeline, since it's also set after Rinharu reunion and Haru isn't at camp.
______
They were on their way out of the arcades, when Rin overheard Kisumi and Asahi actively arguing about something.
"He has some good qualities!"
Asahi only shrugged angrily.
"He’s an asshole!"
They were clearly still deep into the argument, that Kisumi has started with Sousuke about that Hiyori guy. Rin just shook his head, smiling. Pink haired boy was almost laying on Asahi's shoulder, while he was talking.
"He’s not that bad."
"You weren’t there. And you didn’t see Haru’s face when he said that. And he still didn’t even apologize. That asshole clearly knew, what he was saying. Haru looked miserable for days, he didn't even listen much, when I said that it was total bullshit. If it wasn’t for Nao-se.."
Rin found himself beside them, without even realizing it.
"What did he say?"
Asahi immediately lost his train of thought, startled by sudden interruption, and Rin tried to pull himself back, noticing that his tone was too harsh.
"Sorry..."
"It’s okay."
"What did he say? To Haru?"
Kisumi's face lit up with a grin, his eyes stopped on Rin's face, as if trying to find out if his guess is true, which Rin didn’t quite get and decided to ignore.
Asahi shrugged again.
"He said that everyone who swims with him ends up getting hurt, I just don’t get why Haru reacted like that. It’s a complete bullshit, that doesn’t make any sense."
Rin's blood went cold. He thought he hurt you, so he quit swimming.... Rei's voice resounded inside of his head. It felt like many years ago and at the same time like yesterday. To Rin it didn’t make any sense either, at a time. But he knew that Haru felt differently... Still? But he thought they cleared this up already. Rin frantically tried to replay all the events from that day. He clearly remembered saying to Rei that he never blamed Haru for anything that happened, but he just realized that he actually never said anything about it to Haru himself. But there was no way he could still feel that way. That felt surreal. Why? Rin's brain completely short-circuted.
He suddenly felt someone touching his shoulder.
"You okay?" Asahi was looking at him worriedly.
Rin shook his head, trying to get back to reality.
"Yeah, I’m... fine. Hiyo.." He turned around to look at the doors.
"They already left." There were clear hints of disappointment in Kisumi's voice.
Rin turned to Sousuke.
"You guys go without me. I need to..."
Sousuke just shook his head smiling and lightly waving.
"Go, Romeo."
Rin didn’t even hear him, already turning another way. It wouldn’t be the first time him and Haru unexpectedly needed to talk in the middle of the night. The only thing that Rin could think of right now is that he wouldn’t be able to sleep without talking to him after hearing that.
***
Haru was staring at Rin with wide eyes in the doorway, his hand froze on the doorknob. The pure shock in his gaze was quickly replaced with a flick of something that Rin couldn't quite identify, but what made him blush for some reason as he averted his eyes and awkwardly noticed.
"You shouldn't just open doors like that. It's not Iwatobi, you know. It's Tokyo."
When he raised his head again, Haru's face was already back to its usual unreadable self.
"Did something happen?" his voice was full of worry.
Rin shook his head. It was late and he didn't even know how to explain why he was here now.
"I.. I just needed to talk to you."
Haru just stepped out of the doorway, silently inviting Rin in.
"Actually we met Kisumi and other guys, when I was visiting Sousuke and I accidentally overheard them talking."
The door closed with too much force. When Haruka turned to Rin, his eyes were almost glossy.
"What is it?" His voice was tired now, no trace of the glint in his gaze, from when he saw him at the door. He looked as if he was expecting Rin to bring him mackerel, but got celery instead.
"I've heard about Hiyori."
Haruka rubbed his eyes, sighing. Honestly, this was the last thing that was on his mind.
"Do we really have to do this right now?" He snapped.
Rin furrowed his brows.
"You’re angry. Why are you angry?"
Haru took a deep breath. Seeing Rin's genuine concern made him feel embarrassed about his outburst.
"Sorry, I just.." His voice was barely a whisper. "It's because I thought you came here for another reason."
Red eyes got filled with confusion.
"What? Why would I come here?"
Haru chuckled bitterly.
"Of course. Why would you? You can go home, Rin. I’m okay now, promise. I forgot about what he said a long time ago."
"You're lying!"
"What's it to you, Rin?"
"Because it is about us! And I just want to know, why you let him think it was true!" Rin raised his voice, as he felt the anger filling him. Because that asshole was given the much wanted satisfaction of seeing Haru hurt. Because Haru was hurt and couldn't say anything back. Because he wasn't there with him. Because that asshole used him to hurt Haru. His Haru.
Rin tried to calm himself down.
"Did you think I lied, when I said that swimming with you was the only surprise I needed from that stupid party? Or when I said that without you I don't even see the point of this?"
Haru's eyes softened. He raised his hand for a moment as if he wanted to touch Rin, but then dropped it.
"No. I didn't. It's just..."
Haruka stopped for a moment. He honestly didn't know how to say this without it leading to him telling things he shouldn't. Rin's voice brought him back from his thoughts.
"Talk to me, please."
Haru felt himself giving up, catching the warm look in red eyes.
"I can't get this out of my head, you know." He said weakly. "A thirteen year old you sitting on the pool tiles and crying, because of me."
Rin winced. God, how many times since he grew up, he wanted to relive that moment and do everything differently. He looked into Haru's eyes, desperately trying to put everything he felt in these words.
"Never because of you. I swear, never once the thought of blaming you for anyhing has crossed my mind, Ha..."
"I know. Rei told me. I know you weren't. But I thought it was me. For four years I thought, I was the reason for that, and it just.. I can't get it out of my head. Just the thought makes my stomach turn and I can't sleep and I still can't get used to this."
The last time Rin heard Haruka talk this much was when he was yelling at him on that bench. Haru took a deep breath to calm his voice and smiled sadly.
"I think, I've felt like this just three times in my entire life, and I still don't know how to deal with this."
Rin watched him carefully, before asking, "W.. What made you feel like this the second time?"
Haruka eyes drifted, like he was reliving something. I don’t have to swim with you ever again. Ever. His voice was distant when he simply answered.
"You."
Rin swallowed hard, feeling like he was about to puke and already dreading hearing the next answer.
"And.. and the third?"
Haru's face flinched, as if he was in pain, his voice was barely a whisper, when he finally said, "Can we not do this, please? It’s humiliating."
Rin lowered his gaze to the floor, unable to meet the bright blues.
"I’m sorry. I..."
But Haru interupted him as soon as he started to speak.
"I didn't mean it like that.." His voice was much clearer now and yet sounded so much softer, that it made it made Rin raise his eyes again. "What do you have to be sorry for? It’s my problem, not yours. Besides..."
He froze for a moment, as if considering, if he should finish the next phrase. The second of the vulnerability in his eyes was immediately replaced with determination, as he looked right into Rin's eyes.
"...if I got to pick the happiest moments in my life, they’re all about you, too."
Rin felt like his heart actually stopped for a moment. There's no way Haru meant it like that. He cleared his throat.
"Don't, don't just say things like that so easy."
"E..easy?" Haru looked at Rin for a long time, his gaze still unreadable. "I just said the truth."
Rin let out a quiet chuckle, that meant to be sarcastic, but turned out sad.
"Right, sorry."
For a second he thought, that he saw Haru's face turning ever more pale.
"Right, sorry?!" Behind the irritation in his voice, two words were filled with so much hurt that Rin felt his blood going cold. "Well, don't be, it’s not your fault, you don’t feel the same."
Rin froze. It can't be. But there's no way those words can be interpreted any different. No, there's no way he heard this right.
"Haru... you’re killing me, it can’t..." Rin ran his shaky fingers through his hair. "But you can't be. In love with me?"
No, with Gou sarcastically remarked Haru in his mind. He couldn’t believe that this absurd idea of him being with his sister somehow has crossed Rin's mind already three times in his lifetime, but not once he would think about him being Haru's second half.
"Go home, Rin."
"You didn’t answer my question."
"I don’t think it’s fair Rin. I think, I’ve said enough already."
"Will you please look at me?"
Hearing a shaky voice, Haru lifted his head only to meet eyes, that were staring at him so intently that he suddenly forgot how to breathe. He honestly just felt very tired. Of everything. And of this stupid constant pretending.
"I love you" Haru’s voice was very soft and quiet, but his eyes were full of challenge. "That's what you wanted to hear, right?"
"It’s not funny."
Haruka’s eyes grew a bit wide, when he suddenly swallowed and turned away, before saying, "Can you please leave, Rin?"
The barely heard shudder in his voice by the end of the phrase felt like a bucket of cold water. Suddenly Rin was shaken back to reality. Cause Haru would never joke about something like that.
Haru was in love with him? Haru... the one that made his heart an absolute unrecoverable mess throughout all these years... the one he wanted so badly, it hurt sometimes, wanted him back? Rin never even allowed himself to think about this possibility. He forced himself to take a shaky breath.
"You’re serious.. you’re actually serious."
The relief that filled his heart at this moment was so sudden, that he felt his eyes become watery. He never even realized that this feeling he tried to keep as deeply buried as possible was weighting down on him so much. It's like there was a constant hurt inside of him that he got used to living with, that has finally stopped. Rin needed to touch him. He caught Haru near the door, grabbing his wrist and forcing him to turn around, only to find himself eye to eye with a dreary blue gaze. Rin's hand traced Haruka's cheek, catching the wet trail and just like that the pain in his heart was back again. He made him cry. He never saw Haru cry. Rin buried his face in Haru's neck and felt a shaky hand on his hair.
"It's okay, Rin. Really. I'm gonna be fine..."
Only then Rin realized that he didn't even say anything. Was he.. was Haru just comforting him after thinking that he was rejected? Rin felt tears falling down on Haru's neck, when he pulled him closer, wrapping his arms tightly around the slender figure.
"I love you." Rin breathed out in a wet warm skin. He let his hand trace Haru's neck and felt the body in his arms tense. He forced himself to raise his head a stared straight into the disbelieving blue eyes. "I love you."
His mouth crushed into a slightly opened lips with such fervor, that the fingers in his hair harshly gripped the red strands. Haru's body shuddered in his arms as if was holding his breath for too long. His other hand trailed down Rin's stomach, until it found the way under his shirt and his arms got wrapped around the hot naked skin. Closer, he needed him as closer as possible. When Rin's teeth slightly grazed Haru's lower lip, he let out such a sinful moan, that Rin started to shake. Haru... Haru was so warm, no, he was buring in his arms. His legs quivered, when he felt Haru's tongue licking it's way past his lips. As if sensing that, Haru grabbed Rin's shirt and pulled him, while taking two steps back until his back hit the door. They pulled back for a second, taking a breath and catching each others eyes, still so close that their noses were touching.
Haru's hand found it's way behind Rin's ear, brushing the sensitive skin. "I've missed you. I’ve missed you so much."
Rin kissed the tip of Haruka's nose, his cheekbone, the corner of his mouth, thumb gently stroking over red swallen lips.
"Feels like I'm dreaming."
Haru let out a little laugh, but it still sounded almost painful.
"Stupid.." He breathed out into Rin's mouth, pinching his earlobe.
Rin's eyes slowly traced Haru's face and he felt himself blush. Haruka was just an absolutely beautiful mess. His eyes were still glazed with unshed tears, but were shining so brightly, that Rin found it hard to look away. He looked... he looked so breathtakenly happy, that Rin felt his chest clench.
"I'm sorry, I made you wait for so long."
Haruka's fingers under Rin's shirt thoughtlessly went up and down his ribs, making Rin shiver.
"Maybe... maybe now is better." His eyes drifted for a second. "I'm not sure, I could've let you go to another continent after that."
Rin laughed breathlessly, suddenly felling very shy.
"You want to... Will you go out with me?"
Haruka's eyes glinted.
"No."
Rin visibly flinched, his arm slightly loosened his grip around Haru.
"N..no? Sorry, I didn’t mean to assume that..."
"No, stupid" Haru's eyes softened. "Just... be with me. I.. I really need you to just be with me. So... skip the dates, okay?"
Rin's head dropped to Haru's shoulder, as he tightly wrapped himself around him, hiding his face. He can really stay with him, for as long as he wanted. He felt the lump in his throat, as tears of relief soaked Haru's shirt, when he barely whispered, "Deal."
Haru was still holding him in his arms, when he suddenly softly chuckled, making Rin raise his head.
"What?"
Haru's hand cupped Rin's cheek, brushing the soft skin.
"Just thought for a second, that maybe, we should thank Hiyori next time we see him."
Rin eyes flashed, when he angrily mumbled under his breath, "Sure, right after I punch him in the face."
Haruka chuckled again, wrapping his arms around Rin's neck and lightly brushing their lips together.
"Deal."

thoughts on free! s3? what do you think went wrong/right/what you wish it would’ve went etc
I could quite literally go on FOREVER about season 3 and y’know what you asked for it so I’m just gonna ramble until I feel good about it lmao.
Now first I have to say that I wholeheartedly love season 3 with the deepest passion in my bones. I genuinely didn’t think that we were ever going to GET a season 3 in the first place, so the fact that it exists is just... so meaningful to me as someone whose favorite franchise is Free! and someone whose life was saved by these dumbass swimmers.
I will say that season 3 isn’t what I wanted from it. I wanted it to be centered on Nagisa, Rei, Gou, Sousuke, Ai, and Momo. I love Haru with my entire being but I really really REALLY wanted to see a series centered on the Iwatobi trio. They’re so underrated and I felt like they were lowkey sidelined in Eternal Summer so I wanted to see them shine and grow together in their third year. But of course Kyoani has just been setting them aside more and more as time has gone on so I feel like that was nothing but a hopeless dream lmao. I have a lot of headcanons and AUs about what went on with everyone who was still in Iwatobi while the rest of the gang was in Tokyo. The little bits that Kyoani gave us of them were beautiful, I will admit. Episode 11 is my FAVORITE episode of season 3. The fact that Rei WON A NATIONAL RACE??? Like, come on. I wish we could’ve seen the work that he put in to even be able to do that in the first place. That moment where he ponders what he’ll be doing after high school really gets to me too because I would love to know what the fuck he and the others are gonna do. I wish we could’ve seen the moments in their third year that led to whatever decisions they will make. I wanted to see the Iwatobi trio go through the absolute wringer together lmao. I wanted angst I wanted to see their journey that led them to where they are now. I wanted to see more of them growing with the new trio too. I wanted to learn more about Gou and Sousuke’s past through their interactions in her third year. If the season was longer I feel like they could’ve had it be half the Iwatobi arc and half the Tokyo arc, y’know what I mean?
Nonetheless, I love season 3 for what it was. I’m so beyond happy that they brought in Asahi, Ikuya, Natsuya, and Nao, you have no idea. The High Speed! characters hold such a special place in my heart. I wish Asahi would’ve had more of an arc/character development though, and I wish Nao was more included. I think Natsuya’s character arc was my favorite of the whole season. Seeing the trash traveling man that he had become and his interactions with Rin and Sousuke really stuck with me for some reason. And that line that he had when he was talking to Ikuya and fucking crying like, “a dream to fight for my strength and pride, plain and simple.” That shit fucked me up bro. We all meme about Natsuya a lot but I feel like there’s a lot of deeper shit there that’s yet to be explored. When we met Ryuuji I was genuinely convinced that he was Ikuya and Natsuya’s father because it would explain a lot about Natsuya’s behavior. A trash dad who wasn’t really there for his family and just kinda fucked off to travel the world training swimmers until he found one that met his expectations? That would’ve added so much to Natsuya and Ikuya’s background stories and their character arcs. Like can you imagine? Natsuya not initially going into professional swimming because the fact that his father LEFT to find a swimmer to train instead of training his own damn son because he didn’t see that potential in him??? Natsuya being inspired by Ikuya to work hard to prove their father wrong??????? Nao punching Ryuuji square in the nose the moment he sees him???????????? A fucking gold mine that Kyoani could’ve dove into, but no he’s related to Shizuru lmao.
I could go on forever about Natsuya in season 3 cuz I just really, really loved his arc but I’m gonna keep rolling haha. Hiyori was probably the most unexpected thing from season 3 and I just... love him so much. Like his absolute snakey behavior gave me the same chills that that scene of Sousuke pushing Haru against a vending machine in episode 2 of Eternal Summer gave me. I LOVE that shit. The Free! antagonists just keep getting bitchier and bitchier lmao. I also relate to Hiyori on a deeper level. I too have been selfishly protective of my best friends in a way that... really just wasn’t the way to go. Like jeez Hiyori I understand how you feel but maybe let them talk to Ikuya at least once??? Chill with the possessiveness? Idk I know Hiyori is the source of a lot of discourse lol, but that’s just how I feel because of my own similar experiences with myself and others who’ve acted in a similar way. I do wish his beef at the other boys wasn’t solved by just fuckin... swimming with Haru lmfaoooooo. Like I wish they just would’ve added more to his conversation with Ikuya when he asked him to join the relay with him.
I was quite satisfied with Rin’s arc in season 3. It just like, made perfect sense to me I guess lmao. I know he wasn’t there much but I don’t know what else they could or should have done with him, if that makes sense. The fact that his coach is Ai’s uncle is just the best thing ever too lmao.
I was also very happy with Haru’s arc actually!! Seeing how much he has grown makes me feel like a proud mom. Ya boi is tired of the bullshit and the miscommunication haha. Of course I’ll always wish he didn’t go into pro swimming but alas, gotta deal with it I guess. I love his dynamic with Ryuuji and the way that he has dealt with pro swimming though. And his decision to go into the individual medley absolutely made me lose my mind. I didn’t know I needed to see him swim the other strokes until it happened and I just, I loved that so muchhh.
I alsooooo enjoyed Ikuya’s arc. Seeing someone from your past again like that can 100% have that effect on you. I just kinda wish we understood more about like, why he just randomly faints while swimming sometimes? I feel like they didn’t solidly explain it? Cuz I don’t think it was always from overworking himself. Idk maybe I’m just a dumbass and remembering incorrectly.
Kisumi deserved better. YOU CAN’T TELL ME THIS BOY DOESN’T HAVE UNDERLYING ANGST THAT KYOANI HASN’T DELVED INTO. He gave us that line of “We’ll never make friends like the ones we had back then” and then him worrying about whether or not there was anything he could do to help with the Ikuya situation. This boy feels left out and you can’t tell me otherwise and it is 100% because of the fact that he’s not a swimmer. Someone give this boy a basketball team that he can experience that kind of bond with PLEASE. I AM BEGGING ON MY KNEES!!!
Makoto also deserved better. Like, okay, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved his arc with the kids and Nao and all that. I love his new dream. BUT!!! Kyoani has yet to go into depth with his insecurities with Haru. I’m still not over that damn dream he had on that bus. All we got in season 3 was Makoto’s aNGSTY looks when it came to his relationship with Haru lmao. GIVE MAKOTO A BIGGER ROLE AND A BIGGER ARC DAMMIT. He’s one of the most popular characters I’m surprised his angst hasn’t been touched on more. This dumbass just needs to stop holding things in i SWEAR TO GAWD.
I thought the inclusion of Albert was kinda weird, dunno what the point of him is aside from making Haru shake in his bones. Kinjou is definitely interesting. He scares me lmao, but I am here for that. Give us an antagonist who is just absolutely unhinged at this point LMAO. I have some headcanons about him too but I feel like the new movie coming up is going to crush my dreams soooo yeah.
Isuzu is a goddess. I’m so happy she’s finally here and she has a name and a FACE. We learned that the Mikoshiba bros had a sister before we even knew that Momo existed lmao (Sei mentioned her in a drama cd from season 1). I almost thought they were never going to give her to us but she’s here and she’s beautiful and she’s everything that I wanted her to be. I’m so happy she thinks Gou is cute and that GOU LIKES HER and I just ugh yes thank you so much Kyoani I never expected that we’d actually get this but I’m so happy we have it. I hope she goes to Hidaka Uni and gets to race Haru like she wanted haha. And I’m so happy we got to see her swim! Our first in-anime female swimmer with a name. I love her.
Speaking of FEMALE SWIMMERS. Sighhhhhh.... My biggest disappointment. Aki Yazaki. Where is she? We deserve her!! I promise we do!! She was SUCH an important character in the High Speed! novels and kyoani decided that she just doesn’t exist anymore lmao (biggest reason why I’m not the biggest fan of the Starting Days movie). At this point I’ve lost hope that she’ll ever be included in the anime, and it makes me so sad. I love her so much and there’s so much potential for an amazing beautiful story arc with her if she reunited with the boys. I don’t think we’re going to get a season 4, (the new movie is scaring me making me think it’s the end of the series with the way it’s been advertised...) but if we DID get one I imagine it beginning with Haru walking through a snowy day, huddling close to himself to shelter from the cold, when he passes by a tall figure and catches a glimpse of familiar caramel hair with a loose little braid peeking out from behind one ear and a large scarf that has gotten quite messed up over years of wear and tear, a memory clicks in his mind like a light switch and he stops in his tracks to turn around and let a long forgotten name slip from his lips: “Yazaki Aki?” ... cue opening sequence. LIKE WOULDN’T THAT BE SO AMAZING???????? I WOULD FUCKING SHIT MYSELF OKAY YOU DON’T UNDERSTANDDDD. Aki is one of my favorite characters I’m so mad she wasn’t in season 3. I’m also mad that Satomi Nii wasn’t there either like!!! She would make a great trio with Ikuya and Hiyori that’s all I’m sayinggggg. I would probably start crying if either of them showed up at some point like genuinely I would just be a mess sobbing on the floor. ALSO I FEEL LIKE GOU AND ISUZU WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM LIKE PLS GIVE ME THE GIRLS THAT WE DESERVE!!!
The art style of season 3 was pretty good. The only thing that bothered me about it was how fucking WIDE the characters’ shoulders were sometimes. Especially with the big bois like Makoto and Sousuke. Like please god no stop that. I’m always gonna miss the art style from season 1 tho, the crazy expressions n shit that were there were just too GOOD lmao. I feel like in season 3 they kind of attempted to bring that back but it just wasn’t executed the same and done to the same extent. R.I.P. the comedy from season 1, it will be forever missed.
I love the opening and ending themes, always. So fucking good. I’m so happy all the characters were included in the end theme animation sequence. I’ll never get over Gou and her BEAUTY.
ANYWAYS. Those are my thoughts in the general sense. Idk if I forgot anything because I have so many thoughts that’re all unorganized haha. If anyone wants me to talk in more detail about anything specific I am soooooo down! Thank you for sending in this ask, talking about this show makes me happy hehe.

A criticism of Free! DTTF
As a preamble, let’s get disclaimers out of the way. I genuinely like Free! a lot. I’m a fan of it. It’s a show that’s very near and dear to me. When it used to be more active, so was my enthusiasm for it; now that it’s come back, so have I. I watched seasons 1 and 2, read the synopsis for the middle school movie, and didn’t watch Timeless Medley. With that background, I’ve kept up with season 3 and watched episode 4 a day after it released.
Having brought this up as context, I want to say this season of Free! has been very disappointing. And if it continues the way it’s going right now, I think it will keep being disappointing.
Of course, this judgement I’ve formed is only one that applies to how it’s done so far. It also mostly concerns the quality of the main arc, i.e. Haru, Asahi, and Makoto trying to reconcile with Ikuya. Maybe come episode 5, everything that’s contributed to my disappointment turns around and the show soars for me once again. I acknowledge all this, and even hope for it. But for now, I feel disappointed enough that I want to express exactly how the show so far has disappointed me.
Three words: juvenile, unoriginal, and scattered.
Let’s start with juvenile.
Typically, the word is supposed to be ‘youthful’, which is supposed to befit sports animes. The underdog high school student from the underdog high school team avenges their retired third years in the local interhigh qualifiers to compete for nationals, powered by training, teamwork, and camaraderie. It’s a tried-and-true story-line that brims with youth, and is supposed to. On top of this, Free! is unique in sports anime as being one that is not really one. The sport itself, swimming, is not so much the focus as the characters are, as their friendships are, which is especially true of season 1. Aiming for prefecturals is the plot vehicle that by and large plays second fiddle to Haru rediscovering his passion for competitive swimming with reviving the Iwatobi Swim Club, and reconciling with Rin who has lost his way. Maybe they should focus more on their schoolwork, or on their training, rather than getting lost in banter, marvelling at constellations, or ruminating about old friends. But that is youthful. That’s the charm of Free!: it focuses on friendships, and fits comfortably with that youthful tone.
There was also a maturation in the through-lines of the main seasons. The first season was simple, youthful, yet powerful. The second one on the other hand was a bit more mature, a bit more relevant. What does it mean to have a dream? What does it mean to pursue it? What does it take, and where does one even begin? This is the main struggle Haru goes through when he is a year before graduating into university, which is a pivotal moment in his life being (and becoming) a young adult. This is a season where you have him lashing out, even arguing with his best friend Makoto of all people, out of the stress his aimlessness gives him. Season 2 is more mature in its themes, but like season 1, it has the main character grow. Over time, he comes out of a shell of apathy and cares about his friends more openly than he used to. As the themes of the main stories become more mature, so do the characters.
But come season 3, that maturity has regressed to not being youthful, but even further into being juvenile.
What is the main story of season 3? What are the themes we can see so far? At the moment, it’s about the fight for friendship once again. Haru, Makoto, and Asahi are butting heads with Hiyori to be able to find closure and reconcile with Ikuya. Over what exactly? A flashback sums up Haru’s motives neatly: a pinky promise he made with Ikuya to race freestyle with him that following summer. A promise broken by circumstance and time. He cites this to Hiyori as the pressing reason to see Ikuya when Asahi’s hackles and Makoto’s diplomacy fails to gain headway.
And I’m like, really?
Here’s the thing; it’s obviously important to Haru, Makoto, and Asahi to see Ikuya again, and it’s clear that Ikuya needs to talk to them to get closure, too. But the nature of youthful sports anime is to make the relatively unimportant very important. In season 1, Nagisa must get Rei from the track team into the swim team, because he has a girly name too. Also his form is beautiful. A whole episode is dedicated to this. It’s establishing a new character in the form of shenanigans, but it’s still shenanigans. It’s childish, but it’s okay that it is. Because it fits the tone of the season, it’s entertaining.
For season 3, not so much.
Like Kisumi said, isn’t it kind of childish for them to bet things on swimming like this? And for the writers to spend three episodes to have this conflict culminate in such a manner? At the characters’ age, with Hidaka U’s priorities to go national, and the whirlwind that is university life in general, there’s a whole array of other things that could be focused on that gives the writers even less reason to have the characters circle back to a single-minded intensity about camaraderie that is, ultimately, immature. In a moment of interaction with the Hidaka U swim team with Haru and Asahi analysing their teammate’s form, potentially focusing on the team dynamic that so far received precious little development, it becomes hijacked by the arc of Saving Ikuya again with another regurgitation of what happened with them in middle school. This plot point consumes them to the point that all other affairs, which could be and really are equally, if not more important, are lost on the wayside, and that is clumsy writing.
What rubs more salt in the wound is that the characters are supposed to be past this. They’re supposed to have grown past resorting to swimming challenges and spending days grouping up and strategising how to meet up with an estranged friend, like having gone through the same beats in high school wasn’t enough. The writers could have, and should have, continued to develop the maturity of the characters as well as the story, and they pointedly miss the mark. And to their credit, they could’ve been much more lazy; they could have had Kisumi tell them Facebook exists. But they were lazy in a different way; they relied on clichés to drive the main plot and conflict forward.
Which leads to my next point: season 3 is unoriginal.
Let’s cover the main conflict of the three seasons. Season 1: Rin swimming hard but aimless and needing saving. Season 2: Haru swimming hard but aimless and needing saving. Season 3: Ikuya swimming hard but aimless and needing saving. Adding insult to the injury, season 3 even takes The-Overprotective-Best-Friend plot device of Sousuke in season 2 and pushes it to the extreme with Hiyori.
Even the execution of this conflict in season 3 is an inelegant mish-mash of the ways seasons 1 and 2 handled theirs, and not even in a creative way. The repetition kills how compelling the narrative is and my ability to look forward to what happens next. Having a working memory of those past seasons, I feel very bored with the direction the new season is going in, and I’m worried that I feel that way. There were already the recap movies of Bonds and Promises; I don’t want brand-new content to be some lazy remix of them with the characters shuffled around, which is how season 3 is shaping up to be.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is at least similar to how other fans familiar with the franchise would feel, which means the strongest case in which this wouldn’t happen is with new viewers or those who have only heard of Free! in passing. They won’t need to worry about repetition if it’s their first time getting to know the world and its characters. But the chances of this are slim, because season 3 is only intelligible in character motives if the viewer knows what happens in its predecessors. And even if someone decided to watch season 3 first, going back to prior seasons would have this problem of repetition and lack of originality resurface, but just out of the expected sequence.
Lastly, season 3 is very scattered.
So far my beef has been with the content and execution of the main arc of season 3. But I will say the current side arcs are very promising, and, though this is another worry in itself, they’re miles more entertaining than the main one. Rin training in Australia and meeting Natsuya is new and interesting. Sousuke’s shoulder is shaping up and he could rejoin the fray. Rei, Nagisa, and Gou are continuing to do their best with new team members to make sure the Iwatobi Swim Club thrives with Haru and Makoto having gone to university. These side arcs show signs of progress with roots in the previous seasons. This progress is what the main arc lacks, and what make these side stories more promising.
Of course, these side arcs are pretty hit and miss. I don’t know what to think about how the person Mikhail wants to swim with is quite likely the mysterious advisor stuck in Movember who shadows Haru and co., so I elect not to think about it. Not to mention most of the villainous-looking characters being foreshadowed with 50% transparency in the opening haven’t even been introduced yet. But this dovetails with the final, main problem I have with this season.
Far from looking forward to how these side arcs will tie in with the main one, I worry if they even can in the first place.
As I mentioned, the minor arcs, while promising, are hit and miss. And with many old characters returning and new ones coming in, there are also a lot of them. That they, their motives, and side-plots have to be established and rounded off in presumably the standard 12 to 13 episodes, the concern that the writers are biting off more than they chew is a looming and well-placed one. Another impact this has is that the predominant theme of the season is murky, or even non-existent, to accommodate a multitude of different goals and plot-lines. Compared to its predecessors, season 3 is unfocused and lacks direction. This is what I mean by scattered.
So that’s me roasting the season so far on a spit. With a mismatch in tones that has youthful spirit come off as immature, the obvious repetition of previous major themes and story beats in the series, followed by a variety of story arcs and character both current and upcoming that threaten messy storytelling and coherency in theme, Free! Dive to the Future as it stands now is utterly disappointing.
Worst of all, the main story’s not entertaining. It doesn’t grip me like past seasons of Free! did. For this to happen to biggest franchise that Kyoani owns, for them to flop this hard on the first series they’ve done a third season for, it’s a nagging reminder that the series is no longer the labour of love it used to be. In the first season (that to the best of my knowledge was supposed to be standalone, or at least could have been regardless), there was a small cast with a lot of heart, with fleshed out relationships that made the viewer want to keep watching, and want to see how they were resolved at the very end. The second season, while far from perfect, was witnessing that beloved cast of characters undergoing key growth with a some new friends. The current season as it stands now is a faint shadow of what made Free! charming and good to watch, and I only hope that it improves from here on out.

Single Dad Support Group AU
Okay so, I know I’ve been gone and I haven't been posting and that’s due mainly to not really knowing what to write for a lot of requests or not being in the best place mentally (I’m working on it! Don’t worry!) or kinda worrying that what I’m writing isn’t good enough. And I don’t even know if you guys know that I write for Free! Iwatobai Swim Club. But this ideas been stuck in my head for a while and I just gotta get it out there. So without further adue, I present the Single Dad Support Group Au.
Basics
Okay so it was Gou’s idea to start the group, mainly because her brother’s a mess and has no idea what he’s doing and the others aren’t any better
They make Makoto the head of the group because he’s the one who seems to know what he’s doing the most
This AU includes the boys form the movies but not the third season, I haven’t seen it yet
Makoto, Haru, Nagisa, and Rin are all still friends from swim club and thats how they all joined the club. Rei lives in the same building as Nagisa so he got dragged in that way. Ai and Sousuke joined because of Rin. Kisumi joined because Makoto invited him and he brought along Asahi who in turn brought Ikuya... eventually.
~
Makoto:
Makoto has twins, two beautiful little girls both 10 years old. One called Aiko and the other called Hina. While both look almost completely identical to each other, Aiko has Makoto’s eyes where as Hina has their mothers, a beautiful deep brown.
The twins mother dyed in a house fire when the girls were 3 years old, while the three have mainly moved on there is still a lot of grief over what happened
Makoto works at a childcare centre, it works with the girls schedules since they have school and then head off to their respective clubs before all meeting again to head home. Everything is relatively close by. Makoto takes the weekends off so he can spend time with them and so he can attend the fathers support group
On the topic of clubs, lets talk about the girls for a second
Aiko is the shyer of the two. She’s younger by a couple of minutes and is more artistic than her sister. She’s apart of her schools art club and is actually rather talented. She prefers to wear shorts and teeshirts along with sneakers because they’re more comfortable and if the school has a uniform she’d much rather wear the boys, mainly because it’s comfortable and that way she doesn’t need to worry as much about getting paint on her. It unfortunately gets all over her clothes and Makoto has to spend every night cleaning it out
Hina is the sportier of the two. She’s a member of her schools soccer club. She’s also the one who gets in the most fights. She’s not one to sit idly by when someone’s being picked on, unfortunately this ends with her fists most of the time. Hina prefers to wear dresses and skirts when she's not playing sport. She’s also very interested in things like makeup and design, but doesn’t really have a talent for it. Her clothes often end up covered in mud if she’s playing sport or not. Makoto ends up with a lot of washing
Makoto is the member of the group who looks like he’s got his shit together. He somehow manages to make enough money to care for all of them, have time to attend all the important life events and club things, have a loving and close relationship with his daughters, and still somehow make time to cook and clean for not only his family but Haru’s as well
When the girls were younger Makoto used to jog with them in a stroller. Let’s just say he was pretty popular with the ladies and still is
But it’ll take someone very special to distract him from his girls
Haru:
Haru’s a mess
He loves his daughter, Nami, he really does. But sometimes he can hardly take care of himself
Haru is a divorced father. He actually got married but started questioning his sexuality shortly after, and realised he was gay when Nami was 1. The divorce wasn’t messy, his ex wife understood that sometimes it takes a long time to work things like sexuality out and she doesn’t hold it against him. They have joint custody of Nami but she stays with Haru most of the time since her mother travels a lot for work, she does send gifts though
Nami is currently 8 and is the spitting image of her father, just a girl. She’s also quite like him as well. Both share a love for swimming and the water and both are quite socially awkward. Naimi doesn’t have too many friends outside of the other kids in the help group, Makoto get’s worried about her sometimes. But Haru isn’t. Nami may be shy and socially awkward but she’s not weak. She’s just like water. Gentle yet strong.
Haru works as a swimming instructor at the local pool. He could have gone pro as a swimmer, and almost did, but wanted to focus on raising his daughter instead.
Haru spends most of his off time at Makoto’s house, as a result the three girls are very close and I pity anyone who picks on Nami because they will catch Hina’s hands
Nami know’s somethings probably up between her dad and Makoto but she doesn’t ask. She loves him now and if anything happens with Makoto she’ll love him then, she’ll just gain two sisters out of it
Nagisa:
You know who else is a mess? Nagisa
Nagisa had a similar situation it Haru where he realised he wasn’t straight. While he wasn’t gay he wasn’t attracted to the woman he was with anymore. The two weren’t married but the custody fight was hard. His ex moved across the country after the split and took their son and daughter with her. He had to fight to be able to see them and the two eventually agreed that during holidays they would be with Nagisa and during school they’d stay with their mother.
Nagisa has a son and a daughter, the son being the younger of the two at 9 and his daughter being 10. His son is called Kaede and his daughter is called Mami. Kaede is the more mellow of the two, Mami having inherited her fathers joy for life. Kaede is rather quite and scared of people at first but quickly warms up to them, especially if his sister is there to show that they aren’t a thread and are nice. He’s a sweet boy with a huge sweet tooth who looks just like their father. Mami on the other hand is loud and bubbly and makes friends everywhere she goes. She’s a giant ball of sunshine who spreads smiles and happiness everywhere. She has her fathers eyes but long, straight brown hair.
Nagisa kind of act like a child, even with kids. He’s a young spirit who will play games with the two endlessly and let them win just to see them smile. He takes them out for ice cream and cannot say no to them ever
Nagisa works with Makoto at the childcare centre but also works nights at his local diner, he wants to be able to pamper his kids when they’re with him and while they aren't. He sends gifts all the time and often pays more child support than he needs too.
Nagisa is also pretty active on the dating scene. While he doesn’t go on dates when his kids are in town, he’ll often be seen at speed dating nights when they aren’t around and is one of the few in the group who still goes out drinking and clubbing. Gotta live while you’re young, after all
Rei:
Okay, so Rei ended up with a son because he accidentally got this girl pregnant and she didn’t want the child so Rei offered to take full custody of the child, who is currently only 2
He works a desk job and his son is enrolled at the daycare that Makoto and Nagisa work at
His son is called Michi and is a very inquisitive toddler. He seems to be at the stage of life where he will grab anything and everything and put it in his mouth. He will get anywhere he wants whether he has to crawl, walk, climd, or jump and has ended up in places that have given Rei a heart attack. Other than having a knack for getting himself in a tight spot Michi is a good natured boy who bares a striking resemblance to his father, we may have a mini me here
Rei is the kind of dad who really needs a break. He works all day and them picks up Michi and takes care of him all night. He’s a great father, don’t get me wrong, but boy is tired and his boss works him way to hard
Rei and Nagisa are relatively close. Nagisa has hit on him a few times but Rei hasn’t reciprocated which lead Nagisa to believe he wasn’t into men. However, when Nagisa had one of his female friends over and they hit on Rei he didn't respond either. Nagisa isn’t sure what Rei is looking for and kind of wants to take him to speed dating just to see what happens. Rei refuses, claiming he doesn’t have time for such things.
In what little time Rei does have to himself he reads and does quiet things... or he just naps. God knows he needs it.
Rin:
I give you the epitome of a child who is just like you
Rin’s son, Nobu who is 9, is literally the spitting image of his father and has the same loud and competitive personality. Nobu love swimming and thinks of his father as his idol, since Rin is a professional swimmer. Nodu values his friends a lot, of which he has many. Nobu is the type of child that the other children swarm too. He’s a natural born leader and an all around good kid. He’s just like his dad
Rin has shared custody of his son with his ex girlfriend. The two were long term until she cheated on him while he was away for a competition. Rin didn’t want to make a big deal out of it in front of Nobu but it’s a cold relationship now, they don’t talk much outside of their son. They’re civil about everything. Rin vents to Souske about it every week
As mentioned before, Rin is a professional athlete now. Not much to say about it other than he’s good at what he does and his son idolises him a little
Rin’s a great fucking dad. While he’s a little bit of a mess in terms of forgetting playdates and some important school events he’s very loving to his son and if his son asked him to show up somewhere right that moment he’d drop everything and rush to whatever event he missed or play whatever game he wanted. Rin also takes Nobu on the best holidays, his mother needs to keep up because last golden week they went to Hawaii and had the best time ever
Rin taught is son personally how to swim, the only other person he’d trust to teach his swimming prodigy of a son his Haru
Speaking of Haru let’s talk about how their kids get along
Nobu has a giant crush on Nami and Hina is not pleased. While Hina doesn’t necessarily dislike Nobu but she also has a crush on Nami and thinks Nobu is too loud for the quite girl. Akio has no opinion on the matter, she sees Nami as a little sister anyway
Sometimes Rin has Got babysit for him and Nobu loves her a lot, they’re very close and You spoils him
Sousuke:
He’s wrapped around his daughter finger
She could ask him for anything and she’d get it no questions asked
She’s adorable really. 7 year old little girl. Bright blue eyes, dark hair, often seen in white. But she also knows that she can have whatever she wants from her father so she can be a brat at times
Sousuke’s relationship with his ex wife is messy. When they first divorced she took custody of their daughter, Suzu. His ex, however, was not a suitable mother, not by far. He took her to court over custody almost immediately and it was really messy, there were tears and lies everywhere. But at the end of the day he walked away with custody and Suzu was away from a mother who couldn’t/wouldn’t take care of her
Sousuke works as a physical therapist, having experienced an injury in his younger years he didn’t handle properly he now tries to make sure young people don’t do the dumb shit he did
Sousuke takes Suzu out a lot. He thinks her getting enough fresh air and sunlight is really important. Even when she was a baby he used to take her out on jogs with him, he’d have this little baby strapped to his chest while he ran. Now he mainly takes her to the park or out on bike rides. They’re a very active pair.
Sousuke sometimes goes out on dates but its rare. On the odd occasion he does he’ll have Rin or You babysit for him. Suzu love them both like family and they all get along swimmingly.
Nittori:
So Aiichirou is a shy baby. Accept when it comes to his daughter. If anyone fucks with his daughter he will fuck you up.
He has fought the principle of the school before. Boy was yelling. He might have thrown a stapler at the ground. He’s not proud but it did get things done
His daughter, Yuuka, is 11 years old and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She’s quiet and shy and doesn’t fit in. She’s often bullied by people, which is why Ai fought the principle because he wasn’t doing shit. She has a flair for artistic design, when she’s older she might go into architecture. She’s smaller than most children her age and it’s something she’s insecure about. She has a lot of insecurities. I want to hug her.
Ai works at a bookstore and restaurant while studying chemistry at an online university.
The duo spend a lot of time watching movies together and playing video games. They also go sight seeing a lot, Yuuka likes architecture and has her own little camera she uses all the time
Nittori actually adopted his daughter. She was his sisters child who is no longer with them and after Yuuka’s father died in a car crash Nittori took the girl in and legally adopted her
Nittori is one of the few who has some idea of what he’s doing with raising a child. He's capable of taking care of her, makes sure she attends school on time, does her homework, works nights but makes sure she has diner in the fridge when he does. Makes sure she has plenty to read and expand her mind
Kisumi:
Kisumi is raising both his child and his brother. His child is a son, not five months old. The child’s mother had complications during the birth and didn’t make it. Kisumi is still very much filled with grief from this event but he’s preoccupied with raising young Yuuma.
Kisumi works from home, running an online store and runs a successful photography page online. He's very aware of online presence and is an influencer himself. Any pictures that are of his son, which are few, get the most traction. Yuuma’s a cute baby. Soft pink hair, soft green eyes, very pale. He’s adorable
Hayato is in his last year of high school at this point and loves his nephew so damn much. He helps take care of him when Kisumi has to go out and loves it so much.
Hayato may or may not be very popular with people because of this
So many people want to date him man
People just like people who are good with kids
Kisumi is also very popular because he’s good with kids, not just his own. Even before Yuuma, Kisumi knew he wanted to be a father, he loves kids
They’re a very loving family
Haru is not pleased that he’s in the group but what you gonna do?
Asahi:
Okay we have another mess
Sometimes it’s his daughter taking care of him
Asahi what are you doing, get your shit together
He works in a cafe and restaurant
His daughter is called Izumi and has bright red hair, just like her father, and soft brown eyes. She’s almost her fathers opposite. Where her father is loud and a giant mess she’s calm and somehow seems to know what she’s doing. She’s so mature for her age, she’s only 10.
Her mother died in a car crash when she was young, Asahi’s doing what he can to help but he can barely take care of himself
Someone help him, he’s trying he really is
Ikuya:
The last to join the group, Ikuya has a 10 year old daughter who is shy and socially awkward and he would do anything for her. Her name is Hibiki
Hibiki has long black hair and red eyes. She loves swimming and her dad is her favourite person. Her mothers never really been in the picture but neither are really worried about it, they have each other and that’s what matters to them
She meets Nami before she meets the other children. The two met at a swimming lesson and hit it off almost instantly, the two are so similar and both fathers are glad their daughters have friends
Ikuya is a journalist (IDK I just feel like it fits him..) and is actually pretty popular
He and Hibiki often go on swimming weekends where they’ll go on a trip somewhere they can just swim and talk. She tells him everything, they have no secrets, she trusts him with everything
Surprisingly Ikuya is also very open with her about his feelings. Not to the point where its too much for someone her age but if he’s not having the best day or has met someone he might be interested in he’ll let her know
They are each others most important person and if Ikuya is interested in someone she has to approve of them before anything happens

Okay, so when I first heard the news about the third season of the swimming anime on Facebook, my immediate reaction was, “If it doesn’t end with Makoto and Haru getting married, or at least engaged, then what’s the fucking point?” I was kind of being facetious, but at the same time, I’m actually a little serious.
I normally don’t care very much if my ships become canon. I mean, obviously it’s great! It’s always nice to have a canon ship, but it’s not the end-all, be-all. Fandom is there to provide what canon can’t or won’t. I’m a fanfic writer. If canon doesn’t want to make my ships canon, then fine, I’ll just make some fanon myself, it’s nbd. Even in the event that I’m the only person on a little inflatable raft of a ship because the juggernaut ships are notps, that’s fine, I will happily row myself and my fics right out to sea, see if I won’t.
But in this case, I actually do care. Not just because MakoHaru is one of my all-time favorite ships (seriously guys, I love it so much), but also because at this point . . . look, I’m not one to whip out the queerbaiting accusation very often. I think that, a lot of times, people in fandom use that term too loosely, applying it to ships that they personally like a lot, but that were never actually teased to be canon. Queerbaiting is very specific; there has to be actual teasing that insinuates that the ship has a real shot at being canon, only for it to be yanked away at the last minute (and often replaced with a het relationship instead). So I’m cautious about lobbing that accusation out there, because oftentimes it’s just not true, and I don’t want to be someone who reads too much into something. I don’t.
But the thing is, the swimming anime has been known as a fanservice anime since it’s introduction. I mean, look at it. The very first season of the very first episode has Makoto pulling Haru up from the bathtub (with Haru’s swim trunks revealed at the last minute). One of the characters, Gou, routinely gushes over the boys’ muscles. The animation is gorgeous and no expense is spared at showing just how built these athletes are. Couple that with how close all of the relationships are in the show, and yeah, you can see why it’s called a fanservice anime. That’s justified. Likewise, like with many sports anime out there, the relationships do veer into homoerotic territory sometimes, with “wink wink, nudge nudge” jokes made about it sometimes. That’s where the accusations of queerbaiting come in, and where they start to gain more legitimacy.
Nonetheless, this was something I accepted at the start. I figured that no ship in this anime would become canon. And to be perfectly honest, when I first started watching this show, I did so as a joke. My friend and I started watching it with the intention of getting a good laugh, because we thought it was hysterical how the OP to a swimming anime went as hard as it did, and also everyone on tumblr was talking about it. So we figured, hey, why not. We never expected to get invested, and I especially never expected the story to be as rich and emotional as it was, but here we are. Nonetheless, even after getting invested, I still didn’t expect anything to become canon, much less my preferred ship. I knew what sort of anime I was getting myself into. I was prepared.
But then . . . well, everything happened.
The thing is, it’s not just content within the show itself, although there’s plenty of that as well. It’s also everything surrounding the show. Everything in the side materials, the official art, interviews with the directors and writing staff. There have been so many insistences that Makoto and Haru are not only the closest of best friends (able, as we’ve had reiterated to us time and again, to communicate without spoken words, pretty much telepathetically, due to how close they are), but also that they are literally each other’s other half. The directors and writing staff have gone out of their way to paint this picture for us, and most of the extra materials (such as the first movie, which was a prequel) have focused around their relationship. By now, so much has piled up that it genuinely feels they are one step away from canon---one tiny little nudge to canon. Just off the cuff (and in no particular order save accessibility):
In the official novelization for episode six, it’s revealed that losing Makoto is Haru’s biggest fear. It’s also apparently said at another point in the novel that Rin “taught Haru what nakama is,” but that Makoto “is different from that.” (Additionally, Haru tries to answer Makoto’s “it’s meaningless without you,” but Makoto understands what he’s feeling without words once again.)
In the new movie, Makoto has a dream about living together and cooking for Haru. Additionally, he has concerns about Haru’s new apartment because there’s something creepy there (?) and he’ll be coming over a lot. This prompts Kisumi to tease him about how close he and Haru are.
KyoAni made a magazine spread titled “sweet love life” with Makoto and Haru (and also Nagisa/Rei).
When asked whether Rin was Haru’s other half, the director not only said no, but specified that Makoto is Haru’s other half.
In one of the drama (well, comedy) CDs, Nagisa, Rei, and Makoto think Haru has turned into a mackeral and can only be awoken with true love’s kiss from a prince. Both Nagisa and Rei immediately assume this means Makoto must be the one to do it.
One of the lead writers has called Makoto “Haruka’s childhood friend and partner”, and has said that their relationship “makes you wonder ‘what’s going on with those two . . .’” because they’re so close.
That same writer has said that “it’s very easy to become a married couple’s conversation” when describing the dialogue between Makoto and Haru, and in that same conversation, the director said “they belong together.”
The director has also said that they have a “telepathic relationship” and that “they need each other.”
The director of the prequel movie has said that Haru and Makoto’s relationship is “an inviolable sanctuary.”
The show director has said that Makoto is the only one who is “drawn to Haru’s existence alone,” and that when he tells Haru “it’s meaningless without you,” he means that it’s meaningless without Haru as a person rather than Haru as a swimmer. The director also “strongly fought” to keep the line “it’s meaningless without you” in the anime.
In the prequel movie, Makoto is asked by another member of the swim team if he’s swimming because he actually likes swimming, or if he’s there because he likes Haru. Makoto is conflicted for a good part of the movie, and avoids Haru because when they’re together “his feelings are more confused.” He ultimately apologizes for the unintentional avoidance, and comes to the conclusion that, “I love swimming, and I love you, Haru-chan.” He uses the word “daisuki,” which is very powerful when said to another person. It’s powerful enough to be a romantic confession. The way Haru’s eyes light up doesn’t help shake this feeling.
When Makoto and Haru fight near the end of season two, Haru not only races home to curl up in bed, but he’s so depressed over it that he doesn’t even bring his swimming gear to Australia with him. (This is big for Haru.) I don’t have a link for this, but it’s in the last couple of episodes of season two.
Likewise, no link, but in the bonus episode following season two, Nagisa starts to say, “Our Haru-chan and Mako-chan are . . .” before they both look panicked and hush him. Hm, what could they not want him to reveal?
And so on and so forth. The implications in the show alone could be an essay, but looking at everything that has been said in interviews and the like (and there’s more I’m sure I’m forgetting), the feeling that they are one tiny nudge away from canon is, I believe, a justifiable one. When you consider that Yuri On Ice! has a confirmed queer pairing in Yuuri/Viktor, thus opening the path for such relationships in mainstream sports anime, I feel that at this point, KyoAni has absolutely no excuse. I always forgave them for it in the past because I know how Japan is with LGBTQA issues, I know they’ve still got a long way to go, I figured there was no way they could get confirmed, canon MakoHaru greenlit. Both since Yuri On Ice! did it, I feel that now they absolutely can. YOI opened the gate. KyoAni could do this now, particularly with how popular the swimming anime is, and how much emphasis they have placed on Makoto and Haru’s relationship. (Again, the first prequel movie---released in theaters, iirc!---was all about their relationship, and the emotional climax had young Makoto telling Haru that he loved him. Come on.) It’s right there. They are so close. And if they don’t do it, then I feel that not only is this flat out queerbaiting, but also that there’s no point, there’s no excuse, what are we doing here if we aren’t going to make these two officially, inarguably, canonically involved?
So yeah, I have a lot of emotional stakes in this. To use a meme: Just make them fucking canon, you cowards. I’m of course not going to attack KyoAni over it or anything (I’m not one of those), but . . . god, KyoAni. Please. Come through for me on this. Please. I’m not asking much, but if they’re not at the least engaged by the end of all this, then honestly . . .
. . . what’s the fucking point?

Today I saw Free! -Take Your Marks-!
It was great!!! It was EXACTLY what I ALWAYS wanted after Eternal Summer ended: To actually see the boys growing up, finding apartments, driving cars, while the younger ones become leaders, etc... I love it when my anime is allowed to grow up.
Except... several years too late, after I already list interest in this series during High Speed and moved on to other things. Oops. Well, this movie made me remember.
(Speaking of the High Speed boys, they are still trying to awkwardly sandwich them in with... mixed results.)
So I’m sure most folks know what this movie is about, but here are some spoilers anyhow:
There are four different segments which all flow together. The first one is about Makoto and Haruka looking at apartments in Tokyo, the second is about the Samezuka boys bonding at an onsen, the third about Nagisa, Rei, and Gou preparing the recruit new members to the swim club, and the last one is about everyone trying to plan a surprise goodbye party for Rin but due to classic, wacky circumstances he thinks Gou is dating Momo which culminates in a showdown between the Mikoshiba brothers and RinHaru.
During the MakoHaru apartment hunting segment, they look at many rooms which Haru rejects (bath isn’t big enough, no grill for mackerel, etc). He finally finds one he likes only to end up rejecting it because someone died in it, and although he didn’t particularly care Makoto would be scared to visit. (Ahaha aaaawwwgh.) This entire time I kept expecting the payoff of this segment to be Haruka saying, “Makoto why don’t I just live with you” and... he didn’t. I was honestly surprised. They even foreshadowed that happening by having Makoto have a dream where they were in the same apartment in the beginning. And then they just didn’t go there. They went with a different surprise ending. Which was. Well. Oh. Realy? Well. Okay.
Kisumi had a good part though haha. My favorite line in the movie out of context: “If he looks like Kisumi I’m leaving........ I’m leaving.”
Nagisa and Rei film a recruitment video for the swimming club at the Tottori sand dunes, both working in Tottori prefecture’s famous tourist attraction and making sense of that desert ending!! It was great.
Also got to learn some dark history of the Iwatobi swimming club, which used to have more female managers than members due to a particularly muscular past member ahahah.
Still have no clue what Sousuke is going to do after graduation......
But!!! Damn this movie was funny. Good, classic Free! and now I am pumped for season 3. Why did it take them so long.

Sorry to bug you but will we ever get to hear the story of how ama-chan sensei adopted gou and chigusa? Or maybe how rinrin reacted to finding out he has a sister?
You’re never a bother anon. Come by anytime~ ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
I’m actually still working on the details but I certainly have more to say than last time. Since Kisumi works as the supervisor for the Baby Darling Agency on his side of the town, he gets to go over the files of those darlings that have been recently adopted in order to assign a caretaker, or even he himself, to go and visit the little darlings to make sure they are adapting well and there’s no concerns. The files not only contain those who were adopted from his BDA but those from other BDAs in the event a darling and their new parents move out of the area and need a new BDA caretaker assigned to their case that’s closer to their new home.
Each time a caretaker goes and visits a darling and their family, it gets recorded onto the system as well as the notes taken for that day in order to keep track which sometimes allows other caretakers who want to go out of their zone and visit other families. Of course, they must first communicate with the respective agency in order to get their okay. It’s rare, but it happens. Kisumi ends up assigning himself to Makoto’s darlings and sometimes teases poor Makoto but Makoto retaliates by telling Kisumi that he’ll report him which makes Kisumi behave LOL
One day, upon scrolling down the list alphabetically where he had left off last time, Kisumi comes across Rinrin’s file and to his surprise, the next name that comes about is Gou’s. The resemblance between the two was too much and very twin like that there was no way they couldn’t be related! Makoto never mentioned that Rinrin had a sibling and Kisumi can certainly see why–both Rinrin and Gou were not listed as siblings at all! Not only that, but upon reading further, Kisumi finds out that both of them were separated too early in their baby lives to even know about each other’s existence and were assigned to different agencies a town away from each other. Kisumi doesn’t understand how this came to happen but soon comes to the conclusion that since Rinrin is one year older, he must have been assigned and taken to a BDA before Gou was even born.
Kisumi doesn’t want to inform Makoto what he found out, not until he can verify this for himself. One call later, he’s up and about making his way to Gou’s home. Gou’s caretaker lives a town away. It’s a long drive, but Kisumi knows it will be worth it, specially when seeing the happy expression little Gou would make upon finding out she has a sibling and vice versa! Kisumi was lucky enough to find Miho home so early in the day. She usually leaves her darling little girls with the babysitter until she comes home from work but that day in particular, she had stayed home because she had a sick little Chigusa kitty.
Miho lets Kisumi come in right away when he had identified himself as a BDA Supervisor. She was a bit concerned since most visits, if not all, were always by caretakers. After Kisumi explained to her that she had nothing to worry about and that this visit in particular wasn’t to check in on her and her darlings, she was relieved but still a bit confused as to why then Kisumi was here. Kisumi was about to explain to her his reason for being here until little Gou pitter pattered her way into the living room, curiously wondering who their visitor was. Kisumi warmly smiled at her and kneeled down to her level to greet and introduce himself.
Gou’s encounter with Kisumi was magical to say the least. He had grabbed her chubby little hand and gently placed a kiss, greeting her with a “Hello, princess. I’m Kisumi. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” It was just like her bedtime stories that mama would tell both her and her sister, Chigusa! Kisumi must be a prince, is what’s going on inside her little head. Her little cheeks get rosy pink and she gets a bit shy, slowly swinging her little body left and right just knowing that there’s a real prince in front of her! After that, little Gou was stuck like glue to her prince, showing him her toys and trying her best to get his attention.
Soon after, after having a bit of small talk about Miho’s darlings, Kisumi revealed the reason why he was there. Little Gou, sitting on his lap heard everything. She didn’t quite understand what the adults were talking about but she surely understood “Gou has a brother.” Both Miho and Gou let out a small gasp in surprise hearing Kisumi’s words. Gou curiously asks “bwother…?” to Kisumi just to confirm she heard right to which Kisumi smiles and nods, giving her a couple of pats on her little head. Gou’s eyes sparkled getting her confirmation. She had a brother? A big brother? Not only did she meet a real prince today but also, this prince gave her the best news today!
In the end, it was agreed that Kisumi would bring little Rinrin and family to meet his sister and her lovely family that weekend ♡

full list of makoharu headcanons if u want pls i love makoharu
BOI I FUCKIN GOTCHU.-Haru's first kiss was with Makoto when they were kids and they saw Makoto's parents kiss one day.-So this is based off of something my friend said, but we all know that Makoto is pretty oblivious to obvious things. Headcanon that one time when they were younger Makoto started feeling sick and was bleeding down there and called Haru like "HARU I JUST GOT MY PERIOD HELP" and both of them were freaking out trying to figure out how to insert a tampon when Makoto suddenly passed out and they took him to the hospital and realized he just had a really bad kidney infection.-Headcanon that ever since Haru almost drowned, Makoto has always felt a need to protect him.-Headcanon that in femverse Makoto called Haru crying saying she got her period and Haru came over and made her soup and watched movies. -On the same topic, Fem!Haru doesn't show it when she's bloodbending but Makoto can always tell so she always brings her lots of things like Midol and a heating pad to make the week less painful.-Headcanon that both Haru and Makoto are really scary when they're mad. (Actually on Haru's part this is canon but I wrote this long before episode 9 came out.)-Headcanon that whenever Nagisa makes the group watch a scary movie, Haru holds Makoto's hand the entire time so he won't get scared.-Headcanon that one time Makoto pulled Haru out of the bathtub when Haru wasn't wearing his jammers and he still hasn't returned from the embarrassment (yet he still helps him anyway).-Headcanon that the reason why Makoto has to come to Haru's house every morning is, not only because he wants to see him, but because Haru will just stay in the water if he doesn't come to get him.-AU where Makoto and Haru are married and they adopt a daughter and Haru insists they name her Saba.-Headcanon that Makoto's first love was, and has always been, Haru.-Headcanon that Makoto is actually fucking incredible in bed (ahem, this is Tatsun's fault damn the drama CD) but is always like "OH MY GOD ARE YOU OKAY I'M NOT HURTING YOU AM I??? WE CAN STOP IF YOU WANT IT'S NO BIG DEAL", and Haru seems passive like he always is because he's so quiet, but breathes and moans a lot.-Headcanon that one time in middle school Kisumi was playfully flirting with Makoto to piss off Haru, and then kissed him to which Makoto got so flustered they almost had to take him to the nurse but instead Kisumi had to go to the nurse because Haru punched him in the face.-Headcanon that Makoto and Haru occasionally sneak out to the pool and skinny dip and do cute boyfriend things like kiss underwater and shit.-Headcanon that Makoto and Haru watch the stars together and Haru will lean his head on Makoto's shoulder and Makoto will place his hand on Haru's and they just stay like that without speaking and aSDFGHJKL.-Headcanon that sometimes the main five play truth or dare at Haru's house and that's the story of how Makoto and Haru had their first kiss together.-Headcanon that Haru discretely kisses Makoto in the club room whenever Nagisa and Rei aren't looking.-Headcanon that Makoto and Haru have a little girl when they're older and she sits and puts Makoto's hair in ponytails and paints his toenails and ASDFGHJKl-Headcanon that Makoto and Haru used to take baths together as kids.-In the Future Fish AU, headcanon that Rin teased Haru about wanting to be a mermaid when he grows up so Makoto said he wanted to be a fireman so he could help save people and spray water on Haru when he needed it.-Headcanon that, being neighbors, the Nanases and Tachibanas were actually quite close, which is how Haru and Makoto met.-Headcanon that when the two first met, Makoto was very shy around Haru at first.-Along with that, headcanon that Makoto was actually rather shy as a kid.-This is actually technically canon, but headcanon that Makoto has an ear pierced and will occasionally wear an earring. Haru likes to play with it.-Headcanon that Makoto and Haru go on dinner dates every Friday.-Headcanon that before Haru leaves for training and Makoto leaves for class, Makoto always comes to help Haru out of the bath and gives him a goodbye kiss.-Headcanon that Haru is demisexual, meaning he's attracted to people whom he has a very deep connection with, ie Makoto. Makoto is Harusexual. That's it. Granted, I can see both of them being asexual.-Headcanon that Makoto is a really ridiculously good singer and Haru loves to listen to him.-Going off of that, headcanon that Haru likes to lay his head on Makoto's lap as Makoto sings and strokes his hair.-Headcanon that Makoto cries during sex.-Headcanon that in relationships, Haru is very clingy (but in a good way).-Headcanon that Makoto and Haru's first kiss was at Haru's eighth birthday party. He didn't have a gift for him, so instead he kissed him. -Headcanon again that their first kiss was when they were very little, after having met in kindergarten. Haru was playing at Makoto's house and they saw Makoto's parents kiss and Makoto's like "Mommy, why do you and Daddy do that?" and she laughs and says "because that's what you do when you really love someone" and when she walks away Makoto pokes Haru and is like "I love Haru-chan a lot, so can I kiss Haru-chan?" and Haru nods and quickly kisses him and they just giggle and go back to coloring. Makoto's mom snapped a picture of it.-Headcanon that Makoto and Haru like to slow dance in Haru's apartment late at night like the saps they are.-GOD I HAVE SO MANY FIRST KISS HEADCANONS FOR MAKOTO AND HARU. Headcanon that the entire swim team was rooting for the two to get together; and one day, Makoto and Haru were alone in the club room as Makoto was telling a story and met eyes for a moment after Makoto was finished and stared at each other for a few seconds before Makoto leaned down and kissed him. Little did they know Nagisa, Rei, and Gou were watching them. And you better believe they bursted into the room to congratulate them when it happened.-Headcanon that hARU HAS TO STAND ON HIS TIPPY TOES TO KISS MAKOTO WHICH IS SERIOUSLY THE CUTEST THING EVERz-Headcanon that the Tachibanas and Nanases totally ship their children.-Headcanon that Haru not only stayed after his parents left because he wanted to stay with his grandma in his hometown, but also because he didn't want to leave Makoto.-Headcanon that Haru loves helping Makoto with the twins.-Headcanon that Haru is a very light sleeper, whereas Makoto is a heavy sleeper.-Headcanon that- because it is inevitable that Makoto and Haru will eventually get married- they both cried when their babies (twins) were born.-Headcanon that Haru likes to curl up in a fetal position when he sleeps, and Makoto lays on his back. Most of the time they snuggle, though.-MORE MAKOHARU FIRST KISS HEADCANONS. Headcanon that the two we were walking home together after going out to dinner after swim practice and it started snowing and as they said their goodbyes at the bottom of the steps leading to Haru's house and Haru kissed him (to which Makoto reciprocated) very gently and I'M SORRY I REALLY LOVE CHEESY WINTER KISSES OKAY.-Headcanon that Haru doesn't like coffee, but Makoto lives off it.-Headcanon that Haru has scared the living shit out of Makoto by falling asleep in the bathtub...more than once.-It's canon that Makoto and Haru have known each other their whole lives, so headcanon that their mamas used to let them have playdates as babies.-Headcanon that Haru was a really cute baby. That's it.-Headcanon that Makoto goes to every single one of Haru's races, no matter how far away they are.-Headcanon that Haru has an unusually small mouth and, likewise, thin lips. Makoto thinks it's cute.-Headcanon that Makoto is self-conscious about his body; although Haru loves him anyway-Headcanon that Haru gets extremely clingy when he's tired and will latch onto Makoto like a leech.-This is technically canon, but headcanon that Haru is /very/ protective of his friends, especially Makoto.-Headcanon that, although Makoto had a huge growth spurt in middle school, Haru's voice changed earlier than his. This isn't even all of them I have like 700 more but I'm too lazy to dig them out from my notes on my phone lmao.
