#otp: a second chance at keeping him safe
Note
since we on the ropic of sibling reader can you imagine how pissed bruce + batfam (and alfred, to a degree) would be if like talia ever did get with sibling!reader, she'd be smug af bcuz if bruce's sibling lives in the manor, it gives her a chance to see her love and her ex in one trip. cut to damian standing in the back conflicted that his uncle/aunt has the chance to become another mom/dad but also looking at his mother like "why are you dating my uncle/aunt 😦🤨"
can you imagine tho bruce throwing an aggressive fit if his sibling chooses to date Hal of all people?? Clark, Diana? He's sees the appeal tbh; he won't be too happy, but he sees the vision. Oliver, Dina? another pair of 'sees the appeal'. But Hal???? no no no bruce is shutting that shit down and fast. Barry is really the only safe option and even then he can quite literally sweep his sibling off their feet and away from the safety of the manor.
i want to imagine that the kids feel very strongly against this but also play matchmaker yk?? like some do it to piss bruce off (mainly jason, damian) and a few others do it for the drama (steph + cass by association, dick). the rest are a mix of both.
Talia totally takes pleasure in rubbing it in Bruce’s face that she’s with his sibling now and she loves seeing Bruce affected by it. He’s not jealous that she’s with someone else, let alone his sibling, honestly he couldn’t care less about that. No, it’s the fact that his sibling is in a relationship in general. Bruce is very much the type who thinks that no one is worthy of being with his sibling and no matter what they will never meet his standards for being a romantic partner to his beloved sibling who more than deserves the world and everything else. Not to mention Bruce knows damn well that Talia plans to take the Reader with her eventually and he’s having none of that.
I could kind of see Damian actually wanting the Reader to be more of a mother/father to him, they already act like one to him so why not officially become his second mom/dad. It wasn’t really until Talia was very open with her romantic intentions towards the Reader that had Damian really leaning towards making it all happen. I could also see Damian being very bratty and extremely jealous thinking of the Reader becoming a parent and having a family of their own that didn’t include him. As far as he’s concerned his aunt/uncle is already like another mom/dad to him and to have their focus and affections being taken off of him really irritates and frustrates him to no end. But when Talia mentions offhandedly about taking the Reader home with her, all bets are off and he’s fighting to keep them with him and Bruce. Unless the Reader was actually willing to go with Talia and start a life with her and the League of Assassins then Damian may be willing to go with them, not only to keep an eye on the Reader but also to stay with them as well.
All the batkids have their own OTP ships for the Reader and they would definitely play matchmaker to make it come true. Mush to Bruce’s horror and disdain. His own kids are going against him when it comes to the Reader’s love life. While he believes they shouldn’t have one whatsoever, the kids have their own ideas of what the Reader’s love life should really be. Also, this is all totally happening behind the Reader’s back without their knowledge. And I have no boyfriend that all the Reader’s suitors have and will continue to make impromptu and uninvited visits to the manor to see and spend time with the Reader. Whether the romantic yanderes were in actuality invited by/planned with the respective Baylis shipping them with the Reader or they came of their own accord to be around the Reader is debatable. But it certainly gets on Bruce’s nerves. Hell, even Alfred has his own ship of who the Reader should end up with adding more towards the betrayal Bruce feels with everyone in the batfamily going against him like this.
Just imagining Bruce’s reaction to Hal pulling up to the manor to take the Reader out on a date is so hilarious. I can’t help but see him being the one to answer the door only to slam it in Hal’s face when he sees him. If the Reader is adamant about going out with Hal then Bruce would totally be sat on their bed the whole time they’re getting ready trying to persuade them to cancel or at least go for someone else other than Hal. Bruce just Turing into a bratty sibling is just too funny not to think about. He definitely glares daggers at Hal the whole time he’s there. The only compromise Bruce could come to is either having the Reader and Hal’s date at the manor so it can be monitored or the date turning into a double date with Bruce and either Selina or some random woman he takes out just so he can keep an eye on his precious sibling. (I can’t help but imagine not only Bruce but the rest of the batfamily dressed in hilarious disguises spying on the Reader and whoever they’re on a date with. Or even the respective yandere’s rival suitors doing the same thing too.)
If you think Bruce’s reaction to his sibling dating Hal is bad, imagine how he takes to learning the Reader is going out with Guy Gardner.

PROPAGANDA
Mahiru Propaganda
"They got unfairly voted guilty in the first round and keeps getting blamed She never meant to hurt anyone and the only reason she did was cause she couldn’t read social ques"
"Mahiru Shiina is the most traditionally feminine character in Milgram, and she’s very in love with the idea of love. That makes her an easy fandom target. In Milgram, we are introduced to ten murderers. It quickly becomes apparent that not all of these murders are conventional. By the time we are introduced to Mahiru, we already know most of these unconventional murderers. Mahiru’s first music video depicts her going on various dates with her boyfriend, even though he is not shown in the frame. At the end of the video, Mahiru wakes up, turns to the camera, and has a horrified expression. Whatever happened, she didn’t want it to happen. And then a lot of the fandom accused her of being a stalker. Was that what got her a 55% guilty/unforgiven vote? I don’t know. I wasn’t there. But she heard what the fandom said. She heard these voices saying she couldn’t be forgiven. Saying that she was a stalker or that she didn’t really love her boyfriend, even though that wasn’t true. She was beaten to near-death by Kotoko, a vigilante who was forgiven by 67%. Fuuta, who also sustained serious injuries from Kotoko, calls out the audience surrogate, saying what we did with our verdicts would have made us the same as him if Mahiru had died. And yet Mahiru doesn’t blame either us or Kotoko. Mahiru’s second music video shows that she was indeed in a proper relationship with her boyfriend. She smothered him with her love. The video slowly revealed the toxicity in their relationship. She asked why she can’t do anything right. The fandom perception was better in that she was safely voted innocent/forgiven. Still, there are issues. Some infantilize her or say that she’s delusional. Yes, she had a sheltered upbringing and has difficulties reading social cues, but that doesn’t take away her agency. On the flip side, some have theorized that she kidnapped her boyfriend and wasn’t in a proper relationship with him. (Not sure what to say about that, but this is a series about sympathetic murderers.)"
Kikyo Propaganda
"Picture this: the love of your life betrays you and causes your death, then you're brought back to life later against your will and your lover is with your reincarnation. Anyone would feel bitter! She tries her best to keep living her half life and helping people. She's hated just because she's not the main character and gets in the way of the show's OTP."
"Kikyo was such an interesting character. She was murdered by the villain, who tricked both her and her love interest into thinking the other had betrayed them, brought back to life against her will only to find that fifty years had passed, the world had moved on without her, her baby sister was now an old woman, and she'd been condemned to an awful half-life in an unfeeling clay body where she was stuck in her worst moments and basically a vengeful spirit, but she eventually managed to move past it, gave up her one chance at getting revenge on her murderer to save the life of a child, and achieved some measure of inner peace before she died for good. But, she also has the misfortune of being the first love of the male lead, so of course the only thing anyone seems to care about is how she supposedly did him dirty and wasn't good enough for him. The whole fandom is chock full of meta posts about how she didn't trust Inuyasha enough and should have known he'd NEVER betray her like that. Meanwhile, Inuyasha fell for it just as easily when the villain framed HER for attacking HIM, but nobody ever tries to claim that HE didn't trust HER enough. (For further context, when she thought he'd betrayed her, she retaliated by pinning him to a tree and putting him in an enchanted sleep. He retaliated by destroying her village.) In at least 90% of the fanfics that she appears in at all, she's either the Bad Girlfriend or the Evil Ex, who either previously or is currently abusing the hero, or cheating on him, or trying to coerce him into turning human, or dating him for years only to break up with him by telling him he disgusts her because of his demon blood (huh???), none of which she did in the actual canon, solely so the preferred love interest can swoop in and kiss it all better. People will claim they're just making valid criticisms of her actions (which, to be fair, aren't always great), or saying she didn't properly earn her redemption (which is actually pretty standard for a shounen series) because she didn't apologize enough, but them multiple male characters who did far worse than she did somehow miraculously managed to escape the constant criticisms that she's subjected to, this despite having a so-called redemption that's literally just "He stopped eating people because he wanted to get into the heroine's pants", and remain very popular characters both in their own right and as alternate ships for the female lead. The double standards are so glaringly obvious, yet people will bend over backwards and jump through mental hoops that would give a gold-medal Olympics gymnast pause to insist that they're being completely objective and fair and that this isn't just about trying to score points in a ship war or holding female characters to completely different standards from male characters."

It was me yes! I love BlitzFizz so much, I really think that Viv dropped the ball on them, but I also kinda think that they originally were going to be a doomed ship only for the Stolitz and Fizzmodeus fans on twitter to lose their minds because their OTPs were threatened by the obviously superior ship and so she just gave them 15 years of no contact and just an unspoken possibly mutual crush. Even Alex in his Livestream seemed to be really fond of BlitzFizz and it makes my brain go brr lol.
The part of the song that I really feel is directed at Blitzo comes from the second verse:
Aware, aware, you stalk your prey
With criminal mentality
You sink your teeth into the people you depend on
Infecting everyone, you're quite the problem
Blitzo attaches to vulnerable people and like most narcissists and abusers, actively seeks out those he can take advantage of. Loona, Moxxie and Stolas are all shown to be in extremely vulnerable positions when he meets them and he takes advantage of that [IGNORE THE CIRCUS!!! I just pretend that episode doesn't exist. I know everyone seems to agree Seeing Stars was the worst episode but it really is The Circus for me. Ruined Blitzo and Stolas all at once.]
Add to Verosika's amber alert joke, you can even reasonably headcanon that she was much younger than Blitzo when they were together, also making her vulnerable. And it also shows Blitzo's codependency on his relationships but also how he ruins them through his shitty behavior.
Fee-fi-fo-fum, you better run and hide
I smell the blood of a petty little coward
Jack be lethal, Jack be slick
Jill will leave you lonely, dying in a filthy ditch
And basically calling Blitzo out for being a coward. Too afraid of loss to commit to anyone in any way. He treats moxxie like crap, is defensive and avoidant of Stolas, dotes on Loona who constantly abused him because he knows she'll never really love him [in his pov] and shows how he abandoned both Verosika and Fizz in the past.
Basically Fizz and Verosika warning everyone around him to be on alert because given the chance Blitzo will leave them with nothing.
AAAAGH sorry for the long post I just love the potential BlitzFizz had!
Woah this is like..the harshest reading of Blitzø I’ve ever seen. And knowing that a lot of Fizz’s resentment is based on a narrative he was fed about Blitzø being jealous and malicious, when in reality he loves him but never felt good enough, and actually always puts Fizz’s happiness first, But was probably told he wasn’t good enough, is pretty heartbreaking.
Verosika is probably completely right though, Blitz became what he was told he was, a worthless deadbeat. He was her bodyguard who clearly drank on the job and partied too hard, failing to actually keep her safe. I shudder to think what he allowed to happen.
Viv has barely even told their story, in past or in present, so it’s just too soon to say that yet. The 15 years thing is a tragic element to their story, it allowed them to also develop into their own identities and careers.
That’s…one way of reading it? Uhh? I guess the non-narcissistic non-abuser thing to do would have been to leave moxxie behind in prison and break out alone, the non-abuser thing would have been to not adopt Loona and give her a home and job? Right?
No I’m not ignoring the circus lol. I’m only sad Blitzø stole from the owl pervert because after doing this the owl pervert, the actual narcissistic abuser who exploits smaller people in vulnerable positions, forces him into an abusive exploitative sex and body guarding contract against his will and tries to manipulate him and take his heart next. Hell, The Full Moon deal and crystal is just a ‘test of love’ abuser tactic. Sorry but I think “The Circus” was a bit of reality check everyone needed to have. Even though in my opinion too much completely undeserved sympathy was on stolas.
Blitzø is scared of loss after I suppose, hurting and losing his entire family. Wow what an asshole(?) huh(?) like fear of commitment is bad and hurtful but it’s not built on malice dude?
He does treat moxxie like crap
He should get a restraining order against stolas and continue to defend himself from this toxic abusive man as hard as he can. Hopefully his friends and family eventually will defend him and tell him he deserves better than to be some fragile perverts comfort animal and “hero” archetype out of fear, coercion, and guilt-ridden obligation, too.
Are you trying to say that doting on Loona is an abusive thing now? If anything he spoils her. That’s hilarious…and she does love him actually. She’s struggling to adapt to the new life she has now, and doesn’t want to see him as some kind of saviour or hero, just a father. He’s slowly learning that too. It’s only in seeing stars, the episode where everyone broke character, that Loona is really violent to him. In other ones she’s not. It’s a shove at best. And that s2e2 ep was just plain sloppy shit.
The verosika age headcanon is based on, nothing? At all? We can agree he abandoned her, took advantage, was awful and yeah, still is. But are you trying to say he groomed her as well? Dude no.

P.S. You are right about Sakura's gentler personality. I mean, after all, she never particularly retaliated against Syaoran's (and Meiling's) initially abrasive behaviours. Honestly, that is probably why Syaoran fell in love with her. His heart definitely responds to Sakura's gentle yet warm and firm nature as opposed to his more "lively" and "aggressive" sisters and cousin or even Tomoyo and Akiho's more "serene" personalities. And without a shred of doubt, had Syaoran have had Kaito's level of power at his disposal and Sakura had been in Akiho's shoes, he would have pulled off a very similar thing. Definitely a moonie thing but I do believe that it is also Syaoran's own personality as well. After all, his alternate existences who share the same soul pulled off similar things for their Sakuras. One exchanged his Sakura's memories of him (and consequently their unconfessed love for each other) for the chance to save her life and restore her memories. The second pretty much tore apart the fabric of time and space, erased his very relationship with his parents and his world, trapping himself in a different dimension with no discernable way back at the age of seven and screwed over destiny and fate and landed up with a mindscrewing debt to save his Sakura. Clearly, Syaoran's priorities are in this order: 1. Keep Sakura alive. 2. Keep Sakura safe. 3. Keep Sakura happy. Now, clearly, in this order, if Sakura's safety is compromised, he would choose her safety over her happiness and her happiness over his own safety, not realizing that he is not just non-negotiable but essential for her happiness. Clearly, Kaito is the same. He chose Akiho's happiness over his own safety without his dumb brain realizing that all Akiho needs to happy is him (and Momo too).
Omg yes to all of this! I absolutely agree that Syaoran is naturally drawn to the gentler personality of his girlfriend, it's like his tense soul, always on edge, can find "peace" next to her. They complete eachother beautifully and despite my mind is in full YunaAki brainrot, I still recognize and have very present in my head everything that makes SyaoSaku a very well balanced relationship, which got only confirmed further the more we went on in Clear Card. They're still one of my OTPs <3 I'm having a lot of fun seeing them acting as the "experienced couple" and helping another one with their issues, it's so funny 😆
And I'm glad you agree on the "Syaoran would've done the same thing". Precisely because Sakura is everything to him, should the situation be that dire, he wouldn't have hesitated to pull off something similar to what Kaito did. Just like you pointed out, his counterparts in other dimensions did some incredible sh*t in order to save their Sakuras.
Kaito's priorities are clearly, clearly, the same as Syaoran's, in the same order. In the same way, Kaito was brought to the same extreme a bit for his personality, and a bit because by the time he was excommunicated by the Association, refusing to give Akiho back, he had already developed a very strong connection to her. I'm quite convinced that a lot of this mess also comes from feelings that didn't have the possibility to be expressed fully in an healthy way, because they weren't recognized, and so bottled up and brought to mistakes. Provided that wanting to save a loved one's life can never be a mistake, and it's something that I think anyone could relate to.

100 suns.
The Clone Wars drabble.
A/N: I'm not sure about the translation. If something is wrong, please don't kick me. This drabble is kind of my personal canon. No backstory, no sequel. Only calmness and one of my favorite otp (you should know them all:3)
Hurt/Comfort, AU, songfic (30 seconds to Mars – 100 suns).
Trigger Warnings: schizophrenia, anxiety.
Summary: After the mission to Umbara, Kix started having mental problems. He is haunted by hallucinations, the voices of the dead brothers in his head do not allow him to sleep peacefully. When Jesse finds out about this, he suggests that they leave everything and run away. Kix doesn't mind.
Tumblr media
He was always attracted to Shili. Attracted with its clear sky, mountain ranges and dense forests. A native of Kamino rarely gets the chance to see something like this. Feel how soft grass tickles your bare feet. Something in his soul stirred once when he first saw how drops of dew were falling from small coniferous needles, when he heard how a mischievous river was running among the mountains. Even the locals greeted the clones with all their warmth and hospitality, provided them with shelter.
Jesse suggested they run away somewhere. Kix wasn't mistaken with the choice.
The night birds are screaming. The bonfire spews dozens of sparks with a crack. Slowly, the lights in the wooden houses are dying out, even the noisy youngsters go to bed for the night. The first stars twinkle. The village goes to bed.
The last lamp goes out. Quietly the fire is smoldering. The sound of water in the distance. The forest nearby looks as if a violent artist has filled it with black paint: it was no longer visible in it the individual outlines of trees and animals. Nothing but darkness.
Once upon a time, Kix would have been scared. After the mission to Umbara, he quickly developed a fear of the dark. But just as quickly, mental illness pushed it into the background. It no longer seemed to him that a giant iron centipede or something worse could break out of the darkness. The clone chuckled. At least something fell into place.
He sat like that, listening to the measured sound of the mountain river that flowed down the slope, for a couple of hours. The cup with the long-cooled caf leaned forward slightly in relaxed hands, the knees were tucked in, the fingers trembled slightly. Some kind of Mandalorian lullaby was coming out of his mouth quietly, almost inaudibly.
And complete silence in his head.
It's happened so often since he fell apart.
'𝘕𝘪 𝘶𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘰'𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘢𝘴 –
𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘦 𝘬𝘺𝘳 𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵.'
The rustle of fabric sounds right next to his ear. Short fringe tickles the neck, slides down the shoulders.
'𝘕𝘪 𝘶𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘰'𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘢𝘴 –
𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘦 𝘷𝘩𝘦𝘩 𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘦 𝘒𝘢'𝘳𝘢.'
A strong, heavy hand rests on his chest. Where the heart beats. The second one carefully removes the cup from Kix's gentle grip, setting it aside.
'𝘕𝘪 𝘶𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘰'𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘢𝘴 –
𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘶𝘶𝘳 𝘳𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘦 𝘥𝘩𝘢.'
Kiss on the temple. Kix closes his eyes, fully surrendering to the feeling. Feeling calm, safe.
'𝘕𝘪 𝘶𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘰'𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘢𝘴...--'
'𝘈 𝘵𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘶𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴.' Jesse continues, hugging the medic from behind.
They don't need a fire to keep warm.
Jesse pours the rest of the kaf onto the smoldering coals, they hiss menacingly. Darkness completely envelops them. The song comes to an end.
'How are you?' Jessie whispers, adjusting the blanket over Kix's shoulders.
'Stable' the former military doctor answers without hesitation.
Jesse clicks his tongue softly, rolls his eyes. He never liked this answer. Kix laughs.
'Do you want to enjoy a little more?' he asks, following Kix's gaze. Stars. He looked up at the stars again.
'No.'
'Shall we go to sleep then?'
Clone nodded.
As he left, Kix took another look at the valley. Small cozy houses in the distance, a forest that now looks more like a lot of black spots, mountains, paths... He Inhaled clean air.
There were no voices in his head.
Everything was okay.

Ooh, how bout Nari for the prompts!
@/arcaneorderships
Send me a character || Nari || @arcaneorderships Since we know so little about the Order from canon, everybody has their own brilliant take on their background and so on - so heeey, these are for 'my' Nari. 💚🌿
1: sexuality headcanon Unlike Skrael and Bellroc, Nari was never human and as such has very little of humanity's limitations and hang ups. Let's just say she is ridiculously sex positive. Thumbs up for pleasure! In fact, in ancient Greece, her peeping behavior was the origin of all the horny dryad stories. If she was in the forest and a couple got busy, there's a good chance she was watching.
2: otp Omigosh, Bellroc x Skrael x Nari. For sure, those two are everything for her. Might be scenarios that are Bellroc x Nari or Skrael x Nari, of course. I need to consume/create more content about them jhfjdhs
3: brotp I mean, The Order is the ultimate brotp. There's no getting around that. However! If I had to pick another bro for Nari... it would be Douxie. Together (and not hunted!) they'd be a force of Chaotic Good. They have had sooo many late night talks as she tried to understand humanity again, and its current age. While he tried to understand the Order, and her, and what she's trying to do. There's a lot of potential for understanding and working things out, but the genesis of their friendship is him at his limit trying to keep them safe while being on the run from a threat that his old (deceased) master was running from - and her being at her limit, worn and torn and missing her family. And in between all of that, small moments of understanding, and bonding, and her smiling and watching him sleep because she's a plotting little shit.
But seriously, she's the worst room mate - zero boundaries.
4: notp I don't think I've seen much pairings with her, to be honest.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head Nari's first form, back when she first tried to interact with humans, looked very different from her current form. Horrifying. Nightmarish. Her second form, so mild and kind and harmless, was much better received. While Skrael and Bellroc take great care to keep their appearance as intimidating as possible, she, arguably the most dangerous of them, does the opposite.
6: favorite line from this character "Your time is not done."
She can bring a dead body back to life. A corpse. A carcass. She can go full on Pet Sematary on her own, no combined powers, no fancy symbols or chanting, just a wave of her hand.
7: one way in which I relate to this character Random kooky chaotic good. I apologize.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character This has more to do with the inane, toothless portrayal we get of her sometimes. Helplessly bleating 'Merrrlin' - please. We've seen what you can do. I'm embarrassed for her sometimes.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? BOTH. Cinnamon roll with a problematic filling.

You were his support
Jarvis: There's not a man or woman, no matter how fit he or she may be, who is capable of carrying the entire world on their shoulders.
Peggy: Steve was.
Jarvis: From what Mr. Stark has told me, Captain Rogers relied heavily on you. For courage, strategy and moral guidance.
Peggy: *holds up tears, smiling in disbelief*.
Jarvis: You were his support.
This scene from Agent Carter 1x02 is one of those times in which the show fleshed out Peggy and Steve's relationship better than TFA. Peggy was Steve's support, he talked to her when he wasn't sure of things, when his faith wavered. Isn't it great? We saw some of that in the movie, but in precise moments. Agent Carter was telling us this was a regular thing during the two years they worked together. They were friends.
But what I want to highlight here is in those first lines. Peggy believed Steve was that strong, which may not be very fair with his humanity, but it shows how much she admired him. She thought the world of him... And never told him. That's their tragedy. Most of the time, he was too shy, too flustered to admit his feelings for her. And most of the time she was hiding behind a mask of "I'm way out of your league, but I enjoy see you trying". (You know, those flirtatious things I have no idea how to do).
I can imagine her regrets: "I saved the best for last and now it's too late". Endgame's ending was a second chance for both of them. Peggy got a second chance to not play games this time: she was crying actual tears in Steve's arms this time. No masks, no "interesting girl". Just her heart, naked.

Okay, I am a huge InuKag fan. But, a lot of the time when I see discourse, fans are talking about all of the things Kagome did for Inuyasha. She gave him three families (Souta, Mama, and Grandpa, the Inu gang, and later Moroha). She taught him how to love and accept himself. And of course, Inuyasha's famous speech in the jewel says it all. But, what did Inuyasha give to or teach Kagome? He protected her, but what else? As I said, InuKag is my OTP, but it seems to one-sided.
I've kind of talked about this topic before, but thank you very, very much for the opportunity to expand on it. Before I do, though, I’d like to make some considerations.
First, it’s totally true that, thanks to Kagome, Inuyasha found a family in the Higurashis. But it’s also true that if it wasn’t for Inuyasha’s sheer existence, chances are Kagome wouldn’t have even met Shippo, Miroku or Sango.
In the same way, bringing up Moroha is funny because, you know, Kagome couldn’t possibly have conceived a child on her own. It takes two for that. And considering that she was more inclined to motherhood than Inuyasha was to parenthood, it’s safe to assume she would be the one longing to have their own kids while Inuyasha had to gradually warm up to the idea of giving her children.
In that sense, I don’t think it’s fair to erase Inuyasha’s role in the creation of those bonds because the Inugang and Moroha were two families that Kagome gave to Inuyasha as much as they were two families Inuyasha gave to Kagome. And this sounds like the opposite of “one sided” to me.
Second, when people say things like “he protects her, but what else,” it feels like awfully downplaying his devotion and the remarkable narrative weight of his actions. You see, from a superficial analysis it might not seem like it because he often reckless and impulsive, but Inuyasha actually values his life.
Tumblr media
From a very young age it was kill or be killed, so he developed a strong survival instinct. Life never treated him kindly, but this is precisely why he must have decided to keep on living: out of spite. Hell, one of the his most defining characteristics was having a defense mechanism that kicked in whenever he was on the verge of certain death to keep him alive. He wanted to be alive.
So when he voluntary prioritizes Kagome’s safety over his own life, that’s a huge deal. She once questioned, very early on the story, if he would protect her, forever and ever, to which he replied: “is your brain broken or something,” before backtracking and telling Kagome to shut up and ljust et him protect her.
But she never asked that this protection would come with the cost of his life. Kikyo was the one to make a claim on it after her resurrection and the only reason he accepted it was because he felt responsible for her death, but he very clearly didn’t want to be dragged to hell.
Other than that, Inuyasha actually held his life in high regards, even pursuing ways to get more power and becoming untouchable, so to say. When it came to Kagome, though, it was a different story:
Tumblr media
Notice that he willingly and without being asked, because Kagome would never do so, added the “with my life” part. Also notice that he was already doing precisely that long before he worded it out, by almost dying countless times (even going to the extreme of throwing himself off a cliff in his human form) to keep her safe even after he had promised his life to Kikyo. All that being said and considering how much he cares about honor, I think it’s positively insane that the fandom just decided to brush this off as if it was nothing.
Now, a huge part as to why some people might think Inuyasha gained more from the relationship than Kagome was because, indeed, the things she did for him carried more of an emotional impact and, therefore, had more focus on the story. This doesn’t mean the things he did for her were non-existent or didn’t cause an impact of her on their own.
The thing is: Inuyasha and Kagome were different characters, from different backgrounds, with different lessons they needed to learn in order to to fulfill their arc. A balanced relationship doesn’t necessarily mean supporting each other in the exact same way, it means supporting each other in the way your partner needs to be supported, so you can complement each other and meet half way.
Kagome needed physical protection so that’s what Inuyasha provided for her. Inuyasha needed emotional support, so that’s what Kagome provided for him. They are not the same thing, but the feeling behind them is completely mutual.
The thing about Kagome is that she starts her journey as this relatively immature, naive and spoiled modern girl. She takes her privilegies for granted and shows little respect for anything related to the shrine.
Tumblr media
But everything changed when she met Inuyasha. She found herself alone in a foreing world, with no family or frieds to run to and all of the modern stuff she could usually rely on gone. Inuyasha immediately took her out of her comfort zone, in every sense of the expression.
Tumblr media
Kagome was a sweet and popular girl, whose biggest worry in life was getting good grades at school. She wasn’t used to people not liking her and getting looking down on because of her lack of physical strength, experience and thoughness.
Tumblr media
She isn’t used to not getting her way. Inuyasha constantly challenged her in this aspect and more. He called her out on her bullshit as much as she called him on his. He pulled her buttons down, made her want to show him she was much more he gave her credit for and consequently, proof to him and to herself she could be helpful. And strong. And powerful.
Tumblr media
In a crooked way, he actually encouraged her to be a better version of herself. He helped to tough her up, to test her limits, to be confident. He was the one who pushed her to shoot an arrow for the very first time. He was the one to show her the world has other colors than black and white or pink sky rose. She learned by his side that there is more to life than her bedroom, that it’s not always gonna be okay or beautiful or fair, but you gotta to keep going regardless.
Tumblr media
She comes to appreciate how much she has more.
Tumblr media
She comes to understand and respect things she once was skeptical and indifferent about.
No, Inuyasha doesn’t provide Kagome with the exact same amount of emotional support that she does for him, but there are reasons for that. First, the support he needed was on a way larger scale because he grew up without any. Second, her emotional needs mostly revolved around his relationship with Kikyo, putting him as the very source or her sadness in a way that trying to comfort her often does more bad than good, so he tries to do the next best thing, which is letting her go. Kagome is the one who decides to stay even still.
Tumblr media
Third, while Inuyasha’s journey is about learning how to make friends and rely on people, the same wouldn’t have made sense for Kagome. She already has friends, she already trusts people. For her entire life, she could count on the very present support system. What she needed to learn was how to trust herself, how to make and sort things out on her own for once, how to be mature and independent. Her story is about coming of age and her meeting Inuyasha, the feelings he woke on her were the catalysis.
Tumblr media
And yet, we would be lying if we said he didn’t have his moments:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inuyasha might not have taught her how to make friends, since it's something she already knows, but he taught her even better: how to make meaningful friendships. The modern girls she interacted with had their hearts on the right place, but we can’t deny that the friendship was mostly superficial. Sure, they were fun to study and hang out on Wacdnalds but in the end of the day it was Sando, Miroku, Shippo and Inuyasha who always got her back and who she could talk about real stuff with.
That being said, it’s not too far off to assume Inuyasha also gave Kagome a purpose. She found her calling as a priestess and healer by getting better at archery to find alongside him, taking care of his injuries and learning how to make medicine that would help him heal.
The more she stays by his side, the more she can improve her abilities and feel acomplised in a way she would probably never been able to feel and the more she realizes that it’s not only for him that she does it, but for herself. Because she loves helping people. She loves feeling useful.
Tumblr media
Kagome: this is the herb that Kaede told me it was the best antidote for all kinds of poison. I’ll brew some up for you later. And this herb makes a good antiseptic. It really works but boy does it sting! Inuyasha: you learned a lot. Kagome: I guess. Inuyasha: Kagome, you’ve grown stronger. Kagome: well, you’ve finally noticed! How can I not get stronger running from demons day after day? I’ve learned a lot more than your average teenager if I do say so myself. And my archery is not too shabby either.
Tumblr media
He gave her an adventure, a Fairy Tale, danger, passion, excitment. He gave her his heart, his armor in the shape of the borrowed Fire Rat Robe, his sword in the shape of ultimate protection and devotion. He gave her a consuming, epic love that transcends time. And when he was free from any other obligations, he gave himself to her body and soul.
IN CONCLUSION: the dynamic of their relationship was perfectly balanced because his arc was about finding love, friendship and learning how to rely on people while her arc was about coming of age and learning how to sort things out for herself.

Ships and their wingmen
Part 2
Read -> Part 1
Because we can't be the only one who ship them. Or those who don't.
.
MinaSaku
In time-travel AU, Sakura will possibly the only one who will not ship it, if only because that will change the future. But casting that aside, Team Minato will do everything in their power to make sure the two adults soon sire a pink-haired, blue-eyed kid or blond-haired, green-eyed kid, or any combination of those colors for that matter.
Kushina will be conflicted whether to pursue Minato and fight her best friend/soul-sister (because Sakura is Kushina in pink hair) or allow Sakura get Minato and keep their relationships as it is. If she chooses latter, she will give up on Minato, simp on Hokage hat instead, and becomes the best damn Hokage Konoha has ever seen. If not, she puts up a good fight, insert-a-lot-of-angst, a heartfelt moment between Sakura and Kushina later simps on Hokage's hat, and becomes the best damn Hokage Konoha has ever seen. Either way, Kushina sooner or later supports MinaSaku, because she doesn't get Minato then only Sakura gets to have him.
Like Ino and Sakura, Inoichi and Sakura become fast friends, even if it starts with Inoichi flirting and Sakura hitting him squarely on his jaw, and the man is excessively protective of his pink-haired friend. He will probably root for KushiMina just so to protect Sakura's chastity. He will give up soon and will make sure no one gets in the way of his OTP.
If it takes place in canon, let's say somehow Minato selectively gets to be revived for extended periodof time for some reason. Or he time-travels to post-war time and finds himself thrown into a loop. Both, in which, MinaSaku is a very slow burn that even Naruto notices the strange air between his dad and his teammate, and everyone comes to conclusion exactly where Naruto had gotten his denseness from. Kakashi ships MinaSaku because it's his father-no-2 and favourite student together, as weird as it sounds. Naruto doesn't ship, at all, because that would make Sakura his step-mother. Most angst in this MinaSaku will be caused by one Naruto Uzumaki. Ino simps for this ship just because Minato is hot, is loosely Sakura's type and she, being a good friend, completely supports her best friend bedding a heartbreaker like Minato.
Tsunade ships because he is a good man.
Konoha council ships because Namikaze genes need to be retained in the village one way or another.
.
HashiSaku
For starters, Tobirama doesn't ship, at all. Hashirama was already very prone to get distracted even without Sakura in the picture, but now with someone of Sakura's colors by his side, it was as if Tobirama got prematurely promoted as the head of Senju clan AND Hokage. Tobirama doesn't appreciate it at all. He subtly tries to get Sakura killed, to ship her overseas without Hashirama noticing, and convince her to marry someone who wasn't tan-skinned, longhaired and a Senju to boot. When all failed, he tries to seduce her himself as a last-ditch effort to help her move on from Hashirama. He only manages to gain a black-eye and a harsh rejection on top of it. Then, it look a while, but he figured she would be a good leader and a competent backup if Hashirama remains distracted in all his future meetings.
Mito is a proud, powerful woman, and she desires strength in things that catches her attention. So when she found Sakura, she wanted her for herself but instead found herself in competition with Hashirama of all people. Regardless to say, they hate each other.
Madara sees Sakura as the second and the last brain cell of the Senju clan, next to Tobirama. He supports HashiSaku if only so his best friend can learn a thing or two about how to use his bright but otherwise inactive brain cell. He is always ready to adopt her into his clan should Senju throw her out, courtesy of Tobirama.
Izuna likes Sakura and if she likes Hashirama, then he will support it. Easy as that.
.
MitoSaku
Madara doesn't care because his best friend is married to not one but two beautiful but powerful beasts of women. Hashirama has no room for complaints.
Hashirama is a third wheel in his own marriage.
Tobirama doesn't know if he ships it or not because his brother is married to a woman who is in love with another woman and that woman insists that they all remain together for the better of future.
Izuna ships, to say at least.
.
TobiSaku
Hashirama is the biggest fan of TobiSaku. He grins his annoying grin in a way that makes everyone present in the room with him blush in embarrassment. He dubbed Sakura as his sister-in-law the moment he saw his brother with her.
Madara doesn't think someone like Tobirama deserves Sakura, but thinks someone like Sakura can persuade Tobirama to chill. It's better for Senju clan in a long run, so he supports their relationship.
Mito simps hard for this ship because she wants Sakura as her sister-in-law. Half of the TobiSaku moments happened because of HashiMito's meddling.
Izuna flirts with Sakura at every chance he could, if only to rile Tobirama. He might like Sakura as a bit more than a friend, but he also finds TobiSaku relationship precious in a passive-agressive way so he doesn't mostly get in their way because they make up to about 65% of his daily entertainment quota which he doesn't wish to lose.
.
MadaSaku
If there's one person who is a die-hard fan of this ship then it's one Izuna Uchiha. He enjoys teasing his older brother at every chance he gets, ruthlessly and sadistically. He enjoys the way his brother softens at the very mention of Sakura and he thinks that is the most precious thing he's seen his older brother do for anyone who's not him. Sakura gets along with Izuna so well that he often thinks she knows him better than he knows himself, and for that he cherishes Sakura as one of his family. His love for MadaSaku stretches so far that he would kill anyone who dares to get in between two of his most important people.
Tobirama ships them because he thinks Sakura will help Madara lose some of the madness inherent in Uchiha clan. It is because of Sakura that Tobirama becomes less wary of Uchihas and warms up to them.
Hashirama jumps at Madara and Sakura everytime they come for a visit, much to his wife's embarassment. Sakura is considered one of the Senju clan, and with her marrying into Uchiha clan, strengthens Senju-Uchiha alliance. Hashirama, like Izuna, is very happy to see Madara at peace and wishes the best for the couple. Like Izuna, he teases Madara mercilessly everytime Madara does something even slightly uncharacteristic of him. Sakura isn't teased often only because her becoming flustered results only in bodily harm.
Mito approves of the pair, if only because it gets her husband's attention away from Madara and his clan. She respects Sakura and knows the Uchiha clan will thrive with her as their matriarch.
.
IzuSaku
Madara doesn't ship it at first because his brother is easily charmed by beautiful women and she looked a little too much like a Uzushio woman. Mito and Madara aren't in the best of the terms, regardless of the alliance. He suspected it to be trap when he saw his brother smile a little too gently, his eye softening a little too much than he was accustomed to seeing. He didn't ship IzuSaku at all because he loves his brother first and foremost. Sakura and he started off in bad terms but he soon discerns her good intentions and her honest reciprocal of feelings for Izuna, so he gives them his blessings and promises his protection.
Tobirama doesn't believe it until he sees it. He thinks she is too good for someone like Izuna, but seeing Izuna happy and content with Sakura, he comes to an understanding that this arrangement does save a lot of women from falling his prey.
Hashirama doesn't hold a particular opinion on Izuna but knows his notorious reputation and thus fears for Sakura's heart. He doesn't get in their way but tries to make sure Sakura is safe. When he is assured Izuna is courting her with intention of marriage, he gives them his blessings as well because Sakura is part of his family.
Mito doesn't understand why Sakura chose someone like Izuna given his reputation, and how Izuna really fell hard for the woman like Sakura.
.
SaiSaku
Sai doesn't have lot of friends to support him, but luckily for him, Sakura has.
It is Ino who digs their relationship. Ino who helps Sai learn a thing or two about women. Ino who helps him learn new ways to impress Sakura (failed everytime). Sai and Ino became close friends the more she stayed around as his part-time trainer/babysitter everytime Sakura is away on a mission/hospital (because Sakura doesn't trust Sai alone without her for long). It is through Ino that they ultimately got together in the end.
Naruto, as if on a clock, becomes sceptical if she didn't see Sasuke in Sai, but that idea goes out of the window everytime Sai opens his pretty mouth. He supports Sai and Sakura because he could. As much as Sai pisses him off, he is still one of his good friends that he treasure, but one he would never admit to about his feelings.
Sasuke never thought his position in Team 7 would be threatened, much less by an ANBU/Root member, and he most definitely didn't think it will be that member who will ultimately date Sakura. As much as he knew the world wouldn't have stopped moving when he left, he also didn't expect new faces to join his team and take what had been promised his. Sakura punches him square on his face when he vocalises his thoughts. Regardless to say, he isn't happy with this arrangement.
Yamato is most pleased to see Sai flourishing as a person instead of a killing machine they were made into. He thinks Sakura is scary and will keep Sai on his toes, but also that she will be patient and guide him on the right path. They couldn't be more different, but he knew they understand each other like no one else.
Yamato and Naruto becomes the best men in SaiSaku wedding, and no sightings of Sasuke is observed anywhere.
.
ShiSaku
Surprisingly, Shisui gets green signal from all the members of team 7. When asked, he is told many reasons ranging from – "You're the only decent Uchiha" to "You're not emotionally dead.", which ultimately means he is approved because he is everything Sakura expects in a man, and that age is hardly a reason of disapproval from them if it is not a problem for Sakura.
Naruto sometimes – particularly on days when Shisui steals their female teammate to spend time with him – think if Shisui had not brainwashed Sakura into giving in to his vile intentions, because that's exactly what his Sharingan is specialized to do, but when Sakura hears a word about this, she always punches him hard enough to make him reconsider his words. Sasuke and Kakashi are smart enough to keep their opinions about her love life to themselves.
If Itachi thought Shisui was annoying when he was not in love, he thinks Shisui is downright nuts when he is in love. Sakura is all he ever talks about, and while Itachi is pleased to see his cousin and Sakura, who's a good friend to him, so happy in love, there's a line that need not be crossed. He is thankful that both make a lovely couple together who can make Uchiha clan a happy place with their shared positivity. But. But, Shisui is also a jealous idiot and those two words never make a good combination. Itachi blesses the couple for all happiness in the world, but he is just not the person they should come to looking for relationship advice whenever one of them (always Shisui) screws up.
You'd think since Shisui is not part of the main house and having no living family of his own, there'll be no family drama surrounding him and his love life, but you're dead wrong. Once Mikoto and Fugaku hear a word about ShiSaku being canon, they call Shisui in, gives him the earful of the lifetime, demands of him to propose marriage to her, and proceed to prepare for the big wedding. Sakura accepts but that's hardly a point, because next thing Shisui knows is getting adopted into the main house. There goes his freedom.
.
KibaSaku
Tsume loves Sakura. She wants to adopt Sakura. Inuzuka clan loves Sakura. KibaSaku is real, so what happens? Tsume threatens to disown Kiba unless he proposes to Sakura and make her one of the pack soon. According to Tsume, Kiba has finally chosen "the one who will make up for his lack-of-thereof brain and strength".
When the word gets out about his entanglement with Sakura, Team 8 is pleased – especially Hinata and Shino. Kurenai looks at him like she doesn't believes him. Shino repeats Tsume's sentiments on the matter. Hinata only smiles in a way that screams 'finally!'.
Team 7 is not happy that their precious teammate is getting it on with someone who smells like dog.
Kurenai who is like a mother to both Sakura and Kiba is happy to help them get started with parenting. It got too awkward to further ask Tsume who only said to "break the bed and let nature play its role". Kurenai will take turns with rest of the Team 8 and Team 7 to babysit many kids that KibaSaku will sire because they are wild. Tsume is proud though.
Tsunade blesses the couple and knows she will enjoy spoiling her many grandchildren rotten. Shizune is only happy for her sister-figure, even if she is a bit worried for the children.
Ino smirks at Sakura like a sly cat, every time they meet, all the way until her friend is happily married. Kiba is a catch, even if he smells like a dog. And they both know it.
.
GaaSaku
Baki cries in joy when GaaSaku reveals their relationship public. He had thought Gaara was a lost cause when it comes to romance. His son-figure made him proud that day.
Temari threatens Sakura if she breaks "her-precious-bean's-fragile-heart", she will see through that her body gets never found in the sand. When it became clear that Sakura was serious about Gaara, Temari crushes the other woman to her chest and cries over how lucky she was to have Gaara as her husband (because there's no way her precious bean, Gaara, is undeserving of someone).
Kankuro breaks down crying, thankful that his little brother Gaara was not asexual and that he only had high expectations of himself because there was no way Sakura wasn't the best bride for Gaara. A match made in heaven, he said. It doesn't help that Kankuro and Sakura are best friends who often conspire ways to make Gaara blush prettily like he does, much to Gaara's chagrin.
Tsunade stans GaaSaku and is aware of the political advantage in their marriage to back up their relationship. Temari marrying into Konoha and Sakura into Sand, is a fair exchange.
Konoha council begs to differ.
Naruto wants to feel betrayed but doesn't because Gaara deserves the love he will get from Sakura, and he knows him and knows her. That doesn't help him from sending threatening letters, dripping on rabbit's blood, to Gaara who isn't alarmed at all and patiently writes back about his feelings concerning his female teammate. Naruto cries like a baby on their wedding because Kazehime is such a fitting title for his precious Sakura-chan.
Sasuke never sees it coming. He is betrayed, but not because Sakura moved on but because it is Gaara she moved on to. He takes personal offence to it, confronts personally about it to her in Suna and Sakura isn't impressed. If Sakura gives him a beating that leaves him in Suna hospital for a week, that's not on Sakura.
Kakashi cannot care less whom his old genin team fucks and marries but he admits he is a bit impressed that Sakura marries Gaara of all people.
.
ShikaSaku
Team 10 is ecstatic when Shikamaru and Sakura makes their relationship public. Ino is on cloud nine when she hears Sakura gets to be official part of Ino-Shika-Cho. She breaks into Sakura's apartment to crush her best friend in a hug that might as well suffocate her to death but a girl gotta express her joy one way or another. She demands Shikamaru to invite Sakura for all future clan get-togethers so Sakura will feel comfortable in future.
Choji is happy for his best friend. He secretly meets with Yoshino to prepare for the big day. He exclusively invites Sakura for all Akimichi parties when he hears about her passion for cooking, even if she's bad at it. It's safe to say Sakura became part of Ino-Shika-Cho even before her marriage to Shikamaru.
When Sasuke hears about it, he corners Shikamaru and inquires about all the intentions Shikamaru has towards his teammate. He might not like Sakura like she once wished to be liked by him, but she was still part of his family that is Team 7 and he cares enough to make sure she doesn't get heart broken the way she had with him. When he gets right answers, he drops his arm against his throat, draws back his kusanagi and walks away like nothing was amiss.
When Naruto hears about it, he pokes fun at Shikamaru for his taste in women – first Temari, now his teammate. To onlookers, it would look like two friends playfully teasing each other, but if you look closely, you'd notice the red of Naruto's eyes, how the grip on Shikamaru's fingers were tad too tight and the way Shikamaru looked like he would rather be anywhere but there. After a measured shake and few more teasing jabs, Naruto returned to his goofy self.
When Kakashi hears about it and comes across him, Shikamaru doesn't let the older man get a word in. With Kakashi, it might as well be chidori to heart so Shikamaru rushed to firmly asserted his very pure, no vile, feelings for his sole female student. By the time he is finished with his monologue, Kakashi has left.
Tsunade is neutral when the news gets to her. As simple as Shikamaru was, he was also not the most committed person so she decides to test Shikamaru before she gave him her blessings.
Temari flips the table when the word reaches Suna. She immediately leaves the village to make sure Shikamaru was truly serious, this time, about her friend. Gaara follows after her because he is still pissed at the certain man for breaking his sister's heart. Kankuro passes the hat to Baki for the meantime and leaves after his siblings to beat certain someone if this is just another ugly fling for him. Also, because he isn't going to miss on a good show.
If some ink tigers pop out of nowhere and attempt on Shikamaru's life or some carnivorous plants tries to taste the meat on his nether region, he doesn't speak of the incidents to anyone, let alone Sakura. It is only after Sakura is pronounced a Nara that the attempts on his life cease.

COFFEE DATE
Fandom: Bungou Stray Dogs (BSD)
Word Count: 3138
Pairing: Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn x Akiko Yosano
Rating: T
Original Toyhouse Blurb:  THIS IS PURE. UNEDITED. UNPROOFREAD. SELF. MOTHERF*CKIN. INDULGENCE of my BSD OTP
There are no warnings this is literally the most self-indulgent coffee shop date ever. It takes place in a quiet lull between the end of the Guild Arc and the start of Cannibalism.
Read it Below!
Yosano’s foot tapped impatiently on the concrete path as she glanced up and down the street for what must have been the fourth time. She didn’t like to be kept waiting, especially when her lunch break was so short, but there was something even worse about being kept waiting for her mid morning coffee. The smell of ground beans and pastries wafting from within the cafe behind her, enticing her and reminded her of how long it had been since she last ate. She glanced at her watch, and saw it was almost nine. The glowing numbers on the face counting down the seconds.
“Two minutes and then he’s officially late…” she sighed, leaning back against the cafe window.
It was just the cafe underneath where she worked, so it wouldn’t be far to dash back up when her break was finished, but Yosano didn’t want to think about that just yet. She wanted a coffee and well… whether her supposed companion was going to show up or not would not hinder her from getting one regardless.
Just that it would be nice to have company.
One minute. Now Yosano frowned and watched her clock like a hawk. She had made the effort to turn up early for this… it felt odd that her companion hadn’t done the same. Maybe he got cold feet? They’d met here by chance around this time every other time before they actually decided to organise this. It was unusual of him… Yosano tapped her foot again and glanced at the crossroads. Nothing.
“Maybe he didn’t actually want it to be more than just running into each other…” she muttered with a small sigh.
The street was bustling, and people walked on blissfully unaware of their surroundings. Of the violence that occurred right beneath their noses whilst they lived and worked. Yosano and the rest of the Armed Detective Agency worked hard to keep people safe after all - it was nice they hardly even knew they were in trouble.
Yosano was so preoccupied with her staring that she almost leapt out her skin as a voice spoke behind her.
“My apologies,” a soft spoken man made himself known, and Yosano whirled around to see him.
“I had a little trouble at work that delayed me…”
Yosano glanced at her watch on instinct and smiled up at him. “You’re actually bang on time Alek… I’m impressed.”
The man laughed a little, and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
“I suppose… I always somehow seem to make it on time even when I leave late…”
Yosano felt a little bit of a blush creep on her cheeks at the laugh, so she turned her head to hide it and opened the door to the cafe for them both.
It had been about two weeks since she and Aleksandr had started bumping into each other at the cafe. She’d noticed him a few times in the crowd, mostly because he stood out as non-Japanese, but hadn’t really paid him all that much attention til one morning when she’d managed to leave her wallet on her desk. Without batting an eyelid the man had kindly paid for her coffee, and that was the start of their friendly conversations.
Aleksandr was a tall man, thin and honestly a little underfed. He normally dressed a little scruffy, but today Yosano could tell he had tried to smarten up somewhat. Notably his brown hair was in a low ponytail today, and not the haphazard braid Alek usually tied it in. He still wore that tattered blue scarf, however, and she wondered if it held sentimental value to him.
The two of them stepped inside, and Yosano pushed her doubts out of her mind. Instead, it was time to think of the most important thing, coffee with a companion. She hesitated to call it a date per se, they’d only known one another for two weeks. This was just… a little organised meeting between friends. And that was nice.
“Let me get you something today…” Alek’s voice interrupted Yosano’s thinking.
She glanced up and met his lilac eyes, distracted a moment and then realising he spoke. Feigning a shiver she shook herself out her daydream and smiled, putting a hand to her lips.
“How chivalrous,” she teased. “You probably know my order already…”
“It’s customary where I’m from…” Alek replied, and it was his turn to flush somewhat at the realisation. “And it’s a black coffee, double strength and no sugar, correct?”
“Make it a triple… I gotta deal with Ranpo’s reports later since the guy’s behind again”
Alek nodded, and he turned to the owner at the counter to make and pay for the order. For himself, Yosano noted as she watched him, Alek also stuck to the same drink. It was always a black tea, and he’d add honey to it for sweetness rather than sugar. Alek also paid for a couple of the fruit tarts to go with their drinks, getting them before Yosano had a chance to offer to chip in or pay for them for them both considering Alek got the drinks. She huffed a little, but thought it a kind gesture. She really wasn’t used to having someone do this much for her when going out as friends.
Still, Alek didn’t seem to mind. He asked her where she wanted to sit and Yosano gladly led him over to her favourite spot. A booth by the window, overlooking the bustling street below. It was the table most often chosen by members of the Armed Detective Agency, and her favourite place to sit and people watch. She took the cups from Alek and set them down, letting him sit opposite her. Then she took her own seat, and adjusted her skirt a little as she got comfy. Her butterfly hairpin glittered a little in the sunlight through the window.
“I actually realised…” she began, thinking it best they not just sit in silence while they drank. “We’ve bumped into each other almost every day here and yet I still don’t know much about you aside from your name…”
Indeed, Yosano felt she hardly knew the man at all. But his kindness had been infectious and even without knowing all that much she had found herself wanting to be around him. She also knew he probably didn’t know that much about her either, and at least that put them on equal footing. Now though, they had the chance to change that.
“Hm… There isn’t all that much interesting about me…” Alek hesitated, but laughed it off gently. His hand fiddled with the handle of the teacup while he spoke, and he looked pensively into the amber liquid. As he spoke his voice was gentle, and Yosano could tell he was thinking his sentences through in Japanese first before each reply. Though they both spoke English as a common tongue, Alek had insisted he needed the practice.
“I am from a tiny village in the middle of nowhere in Russia… though most places are middle of nowhere in a country that big I’m sure you can imagine…”
He paused and laughed a little at that, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear and looking up at Yosano.
“I did journalism work in Moscow before deciding to transfer out here… I felt like a change of scenery would do me good, and to see the world a bit.”
That was actually pretty nice of him! Yosano let herself smile and relax back into the soft leather of the booth. She took a long drink of her coffee, very appreciative of the strength that it would give her to push through work today, and listened carefully.
“I’m a doctor.” She replied, putting her cup down carefully and eyeing her pastry.
“A worthwhile profession,” Sasha replied, tilting his head a little.
“Of course, I help others with all kinds of injuries… I can prescribe things for when people get sick too. It’s a lot of work but worth it…”
“And you do all that for the Agency?”
Yosano frowned, glancing at Alek.
“How did you know about them?”
Alek blinked, like he’d made a mistake and just realised it, and sat up just a little. He put down the cup he’d been drinking from, and for a couple of seconds he didn’t quite meet Yosano’s eyes.
“You came from the upstairs offices,” he explained. “I thought it was more common knowledge that that was the base of operations for the Agency…”
“Well… I suppose. Guess I didn’t really expect someone from out of the city to know of it right away.”
Alek smiled at that, seeming a little more himself. Still nervous, but the twitch was gone. “I take pride in being very observant of the places where I live. I’ve taken a lot of time to learn Yokohama well… it helps when writing. Besides… Sometimes when I come in here there are some of your colleagues eating and drinking here and they’re hardly subtle…”
He made a good point, and Yosano relaxed once more. She sighed, flicking her own hair and putting down her now empty coffee cup.
“Suppose you’re right… It was bound to be said down here sooner or later.”
There was silence for a little while, as Yosano made quick work of eating her pastry. She’d had breakfast before work, but nothing beat a snack that hadn’t been partially “taste tested” by Ranpo first. And any food bought for her rather than with her own money always tastes best of all.
Alek seemed to pick at his, eating much slower and more carefully. She wondered what made him so skittish, especially when they were in such a safe environment, but maybe it was just the way he was. Finishing her tart, she glanced at her watch a little. There was still plenty of time for her at least.
“When do you need to be back? Wait… how far away are you from work when you come here?” She asked. She didn’t want him to run late because of them having a nice time.
Alek smiled reassuringly at that, finishing his tea. “I’ll be back there on time, I always find a way to get there without being late…”
That was good to know at least. Yosano wanted to probe more information out of her friend before they parted ways. Sure, they could probably do this again another time when they had a break, but there was no time better than the present! Thinking quick, she caught the owner’s attention and ordered a second tea and coffee for them, determined that this time the round was on her.
“So tell me, Alek,” Yosano rested her elbows on the table, chin in her hands and watching him. Seeing what his reactions might be. “Since you know about the Armed Detective Agency… then I can presume you’ve heard of what makes them so special?”
Alek raised an eyebrow at that.
“I have heard rumours…” he hesitantly replied.
Yosano kept pushing. Curious to know what her companion thought.
“People there are known because of their unique skills. Skills said to set them apart from the regular people in Yokohama. But that also means people tend to think differently of them and-“
Alek lifted his hand a little to interrupt her, tilting his head with a flash of worry in his eyes.
“Do you think that I’d think differently of you for having such a skill?” He asked tentatively.
Yosano frowned, folding her arms.
“Well I’d be pretty pissed off if you did.”
“Well…” Alek put his hand down once again, closing his eyes as he smiled gently. “It’s a good thing that I don’t Hm?”
Yosano paused, and found herself breaking into a small laugh as well.
“Good!” Came her reply.
That was very reassuring at least. Even if she’d been treated well these years she’d spent with the Agency, she knew full well that not every person she encountered in the world were as open minded. People still regarded abilities and ability users with a degree of suspicion, and there was stigma attached to being so different. Seeing Alek so relaxed by it was polar opposite to how this topic was normally thought of - it caught her off guard a bit. Maybe he knew more than he let on?
Yosano chose not to let it plague her - and before she could press further their second round of drinks arrived. She gladly paid, and took another long drink of coffee. It hit the spot.
Alek on the other hand seemed pensive once again. His brow furrowed and he stared into the drink in front of him. Yosano couldn’t read his expression much, but she could tell that something was bothering. Was it what she just said? No… He’d seemed honest when he’d told her that he didn’t think differently of ability users. This had to be something else. Yosano took a sip of her coffee, mostly to keep herself from interrupting Alek whilst he was thinking. It calmed her nerves somewhat.
Eventually he looked up, realising he’d spaced out entirely and muttering a small apology.
“You’re not the first ability user I’ve come across, actually” he confessed, seemingly just trying to find the right words in Japanese more than anything. “They’re treated poorly in Russia, however, so I know a lot of them prefer to keep their talents hidden. Hearing you talk so proudly of it is a little new to me… but… I suppose I would be proud to be a healer if I was one as well.”
“I never said I was a healer,” Yosano quipped. Alek seemed to always be a step ahead of her. She couldn’t help but think he must knew more than he let on. She was no Ranpo when it came to deducing things about people, but she was hardly stupid either. Her gaze met his once again, lilac and magenta staring into one another, and she expected an explanation.
Alek obliged, and smiled gently despite her frown.
“I made the assumption based on you telling me you are a doctor, that’s all.”
That… made sense. Inwardly Yosano chided herself for overthinking.
“I am a healer,” she agreed. “Thou Shalt Not Die can cure otherwise fatal wounds. But only those that are fatal. Unfortunately for those only mildly injured I actually have to do more harm to them before I can patch them up…”
Admittedly, sometimes that was the part she most enjoyed. But Yosano thought it best not to tell Alek that just yet. He was a man of a nervous disposition and she didn’t want her companion running away screaming.
“Sounds painful,” was the response from her friend. He wasn’t wrong.
“Still better than dying right?” She laughed.
“Absolutely. I know I’d rather not die just yet. I’ve come close a few times but… thankfully I’m still here.”
Now it was Yosano’s turn to raise an eyebrow. But Alek shook his head a little.
“Long story. Not really enough time for all the details… and honestly it’s incredibly depressing. I'd rather our break be more about the present than worrying about the past…”
Yosano could definitely agree to that, and she smiled and nodded towards him. She knew nothing of his past, and he knew nothing of hers. But in that moment they both seemed to get what they meant. Their agreement not just from logic, but from the bottom of both their hearts.
She liked this man. Alek was a good friend.
“Speaking of time..” reality snapped back and she glanced at her watch. “Ah crap… I really do need to go back upstairs. Before Kunikida comes to ask me where I am and where my reports are…”
Alek sighed, getting up carefully. “I should likely do the same… I have a meeting with my higher ups later. New project I think..”
“Sounds busy… what kinda project?”
Alek hummed nonchalantly, shrugging. “Something to do with their plans for operations in Yokohama.”
Yosano shrugged too, adjusting her hairpin.
“Sounds boring, hope it doesn’t put you to sleep. You always look tired yaknow, Alek… You not sleep well?”
Alek smiled at that. He guided Yosano to the door and held it open for her, she couldn’t help but think how polite he was. Normally she wouldn’t accept such gestures, Yosano was an incredibly independent person by nature, but this was nice. It was always nice to be spoiled sometimes.
“I always look tired,” Alek confessed as he let her go through the door before him. “I won’t deny I’m overworked… and it isn’t looking like I’ll get a holiday anytime soon but…”
The door shut behind them, and Alek stepped over to Yosano for a last goodbye.
“I do appreciate the breaks I get. Especially with such nice company.”
Yosano turned herself away from him and clutched her cheeks. They burned bright! What was that?! It was so… so nice? So…
“W-Well I do too!” She replied. Coughing and vainly trying to regain her composure. “We should do this again tomorrow!”
“Same time?” “And don’t be late!” “I was on time today! Trust me… I’m good at time keeping.” “Well… good! See you then!”
Alek laughed at that, and he waved as Yosano hurried up the steps. Watching her go with a fond but… increasingly sad smile as she left. He turned, looking back towards the main road and glancing at his own watch. Four minutes to be back for his own meeting.
Well. Four minutes to everyone else at least.
He closed his eyes and took a breath. When he opened them again, they glowed a lilac-blue. The light spread across his body, and at his feet, a bright, ticking clock face appeared. It’s hands slowed down, more and more, til all of time around him was almost still. Not stopped, but slow.
Sasha took a step forward, and the world continued to stay suspended in slow motion. Four minutes? He could make That at a leisurely pace.
Better that Yosano didn’t know about this. The longer she remained innocent of who he really was, the longer he could pretend he deserved to have happy moments like this. Sasha wanted it to last, to be just her friend Alek and nothing more sinister, for just a little longer.

Back again lol. Even though the writing just hasn’t been the best this season, I’m not really that mad about the way they’ve portrayed Jeresa. Just looking at this logically, I feel that they gave us 5x02 as our Jeresa episode early on and there really was a lot of sweet moments. Now, inevitably we had to have angst in between. But it’s been constantly cemented that James is in love with Teresa, and strongly implied that she loves him too. They can’t just build that up and leave it unresolved. Plus, with TV shows in general, a couple being together early on in the series just leaves it open for unnecessary conflict and the ship just loses its intrigue. If they give us the Jeresa ending we’re hoping for then it makes sense to have not got them together any episode earlier than the final 2. And despite everything, I think the writers have been a hell of a lot better than others in keeping their ship alive and not causing a irredeemable issue between them. I probably shouldn’t defend them before seeing the next two episodes, but I am hopeful. All that being said, there most definitely should have been more scenes and dialogue between them. We should’ve had a Tony moment between them (I’m so mad about this, especially since the writers acted like it was such a pivotal part of the season and then only showed Pote’s ‘grief’). I’m very sorry for rambling, just wanted to hear your take.
Oh, yes hello, back again, I see. Your ask made me sigh because I think it opens me up to be honest and critical of this season’s writing, and that kind of opinion may not always be favored around here, and also because it requires a response of essay length. But I’ll do it for you, anon, I will. Okay. So you want my take on the portrayal of Jeresa in season 5. Here we go. After the jump:
Let me preempt this by saying the show isn’t too serious (try and tell me this is still a serious show after the kerfuffle that season 5 has been), so you shouldn’t take this too seriously either. I have an opinion but I’m just…me. I encourage everyone to stick to their guns about what they feel about QOTS; what you like about it, what you love about it, what gets you excited, what you think has been done well, what is worthy of praise, etc. etc. etc. I go in pretty hard on the show in the next several (LOL, yes, really) paragraphs. But I am in no way the ultimate authority on all things QOTS.
I don’t think Jeresa would have unnecessary conflict and I don’t think the good ship Jeresa would lose its intrigue. In lieu of conflict, we’ve gotten…*crickets* nothing. No conversations of real value, no meaningful exchange of ideas, no arguments, nothing. If anything, the conflict between Teresa and James that is necessary had been absent. In seasons 1-3, there were always disagreements between Teresa and James. There was never a point reached where it created too much conflict, or unnecessary conflict. It created tension, which is like the very essence of Jeresa, and it showed the dynamic they have that made so many of us fall hard for Jeresa as our ship, as our OTP. I don’t think making them a couple or having them together early on in the season would create unnecessary conflict. I think it could’ve created different conflict than what we’ve seen before, and wouldn’t that be a beautiful thing, to have seen them evolve and deal with each other in ways we haven’t seen before?
So, related to what I said about different conflict, as far as intrigue goes…I don’t think presenting Jeresa as a couple or in a relationship would ever make them flat or boring. When I think back to season 3, when we got Jeresa in 3x05 and 3x09, I wish we’d been offered the chance to see them succeed and see what happened with them if they tried. Like I said, it’d be a different kind of conflict, a different kind of challenge for them to face and have to face together. That sounds so opposite of lacking intrigue to me, anon. That’s a side of Jeresa I would have loved to see.
You’ve pointed out that, in general, on TV shows, getting a couple together too early usually means doom and gloom and failure for them. One of my favorite shows ever was Veronica Mars, the first two seasons especially. When the showrunner, Rob Thomas, has talked about the first kiss Logan and Veronica have, he refers to it as being earned. For QOTS, and for Jeresa, I really felt that when they shared their first kiss in 3x05. It took so much and they went through so much to get to that moment. It was earned. So, with that idea—of the earned kiss, of the earned get together, of the earned relationship—in mind, to me, there is no point in season 5 that would have been too early for Jeresa.
Talking about TV shows and how they usually go in general leads me to my next point: as a viewer, is that what I want and is that what I should expect, to be given more of what’s typical? Maybe the writers and critics and people much smarter than me will tell me it’s my fault, I’m the fool, for wanting to critically engage in media that’s not meant to be consumed that way. Maybe I’m just supposed to accept and enjoy and be happy with what I’m given. No one claimed this wasn’t going to be typical. So okay. It’s on me. It’s my bad. But here’s the thing. If I’m supposed to accept and enjoy and love this as it is…well, give me something to love. I’m not asking for a revolution or anything life-changing here, just something I can appreciate (and this season, in my opinion, has really lacked things that I can hold on to and appreciate). So as for typical TV…I’m not down with merely accepting that because things usually go a certain way, that’s how they always have to go.
Why do Jeresa have to fail if they got together earlier in the season? Why is it so out of the realm of possibility that they might succeed together? Are they so emotionally stunted, do they lack so much compassion and understanding of each other that it would be impossible for them to listen and move forward together? What if they could discuss their issues, tell each other how they feel, stop hiding, and try? Who says there wouldn’t be angst and tension between them as they try to work through their issues? What if they’re actually supposed to be together and it would make them stronger—individually and as a couple?
Now, forget everything I just said. LOL. Let’s say we have to go by TV in general and typical TV rules. Let’s assume if Jeresa got together early on, then we’d see them struggle and fall apart and break up. Fine. Okay.
Here’s how Jeresa could have played out after the first two episodes:
5x03 banging honeymoon phase, probably
5x04 arguments and frustration with each other as T embraces being the white queen
5x05 J finds out about T’s coke usage and has to walk away from the relationship because he can’t stand to be complicit and stand idly by while she destroys herself
5x06 classic Jeresa angst and tension
5x07 KG’s death leads to T’s breaking point and J is there to support her
5x08 honesty hour, where it’s made clear that these two mean so much to one another and they’re running out of time to let each other know that, so they tell each other
5x09 one last united mission + they hatch the plan to get out and be free + a farewell with the promise and intent to see each other in another life
5x10 reunion in another life
Are these all headcanons? Of course they’re headcanons. Of course I would never expect the show to go exactly how I thought it would or with my own ideas. My point is that if they would’ve gotten together early on and we’d been given a glimpse of what that would be like, even if they failed, it doesn’t mean it would’ve been impossible for them to ever find themselves together again before season’s end.
“There’s not enough time,” the writers said. “It’s an action packed season,” the writers said. Okay. Why? There was enough time to spend on backstory of minor insignificant characters. There was enough time to introduce characters, tell us a bit about them, only to see them dead by the end of the episode. There was enough time to focus on Kote’s story, over multiple episodes, with not just a baby plot but a kidnapping one as well. So why? Why was there no time for Jeresa? Forget about them getting together and kissing and sex. If that was what it was (and it was) they wanted us to not have, then fine. Some of my favorite Jeresa moments were in the first two seasons, when Jeresa getting together was very much not a thing, when tension was high. So if it was just the portrayal of them not being together, if we still got the scenes of tension and them having no choice but to communicate, that would be completely fine. Like I said, I know I’m never going to get exactly what I want, my headcanons are mine, so that’s okay. Oh. But…no. Oh no. There was not even enough time for Jeresa to have more than short, throwaway, blink-and-you’ll-miss it conversations? Well. It’s the writers’ decision. They wanted it that way.
“It’s a Teresa-centric season,” Dailyn claimed. Like I’ve said before, James is a big part of Teresa’s journey and story. If you’re going to have a Teresa-centric season, it’s hard to accomplish that without shedding more light on James and Jeresa. This isn’t a Teresa-centric season. This has become the Kote show. Teresa is the main character but her journey has been pushed aside, diminished, and downplayed in order to make way for Kote ultrasounds and Pote grunting and Kelly Anne thinking “positive” and hopeful that Marcel will come to a party at the safe house. Instead of getting conversations that would offer insight into Teresa’s relationships with those in her family, we got an extended deep dive into the most chemistry-lacking relationship we’ve ever seen on the show. Well. It’s the writers’ decision. They wanted it that way.
“It’s Queen of the South, not Jeresa of the South,” the writers will insist. If by that they mean it’s Kote of the South. Imagine for a second that it actually was a Teresa-centric season but they were adamant about keeping James in this minor capacity. Okay. It would still be different than it is now because we’d be in tune with Teresa. We would’ve gotten a glimpse into her thought process. Was this not, at some point, meant to be a story about a strong woman? I can even extend that question to Kelly Anne. Was this not, at some point, meant to be a story about strong women? Then why do we keep seeing them make asinine decisions? Why are their most extreme actions in reaction to what the men have done?
Moreover, if this show is about the people in the cartel, in Teresa’s inner circle, rather than just the Kote side plot becoming the main plot, there’s no way this is the James we would be getting. James, our beloved reluctant assassin…who we know nothing about. He can’t even get a backstory on a show on which he is supposedly one of the main characters. Five minutes—five seconds—couldn’t even be spared on James and how he came to be who he is, how he got where he is. But Isidro Navarro? By all means, I need to hear his life story. Who’s Isidro Navarro, you ask? Right. Exactly. Apparently we don’t deserve backstory and explanation and conversation and introspection from our protagonists. But a character who is there for ten minutes or less on a single episode and will never be heard from again in any significant manner? Of course he needs his screen time. Well. It’s the writers’ decision. They wanted it that way.
“This is not a romance show,” the makers of season 5 said. Honestly? Fuck that noise. Fuck that sentiment. Fuck that ignorance. When has Jeresa ever been about romance? Where do the people who make this show get off saying something like that as if we are so stupid we don’t know that? A romance story and a love story are not the same thing. Jeresa is love. God forbid Jeresa ever experience love within a successful relationship. God forbid Teresa and James ever become mature enough to use love as strength rather than weakness. But pile on all the Kote. Focus on them and emphasize how Teresa and James can barely even look at each other. Well. It’s the writers’ decision. They wanted it that way.
So now here we are, on the cusp of 5x09. We got a spoiler in the last promo trailer. We know, after 7 episodes since their last conversation that actually meant something, after the writers missed the mark and didn’t have Jeresa interact in a way that was significant and necessary over the course of the season, that there is at least one kiss. They might even have a conversation. They might even share more than one kiss that leads to more (but also, don’t be surprised if we get a mere few seconds of a kiss and nothing more before fade to black). This is going to make us so happy because finally, finally, they’re giving us what we wanted. And then what? What does it mean if those things are true? Is everything forgiven? Is the instant gratification of seeing our ship sail for a scene or two enough? Does it make up for the character assassination of the characters we love? If we somehow get the ending we want, or at least one close to it, is it even believable anymore? Is what has been broken all season so easily fixed?
Listen, I already know the counter argument. I’m going to be told I’m crazy, that Teresa has to be on her own, that it wouldn’t be interesting, that it would diminish the payoff for Teresa and Jeresa in the end. I get it. Typical TV rules, right? We have to go with what people know, what they’re used to. But what have we gotten, really, to preserve these ‘rules’ for TV in general? Teresa has been dumbed down and is now lacking a lot of the intuition and street smarts she had before. She makes bad decision after bad decision and she doesn’t see what’s coming. The actions she takes are in reaction to those bad decisions. James hates so much of what he’s been made to do but for some reason he keeps going along and carrying out Teresa’s orders; he’ll just stew over it quietly in a corner without saying anything. Teresa and James don’t talk to each other, at least not about anything important, and when they do talk, they give each other heart eyes but never scratch the surface—how could they when they talk for like 10 seconds at a time? So. Has this been a good portrayal of Jeresa? You tell me. If it’s fine with everyone else, then I guess it’s fine. I’m probably the wrong person to ask.

Barok for the Character Headcanons! :D
Coming from you, this feels like the ask came from Barok himself!
Character Headcanons:
1: sexuality headcanon - May be projecting for this one, but I see him as either ace or demi. At the very least I don't think he'll even be thinking about relationships until he's better worked through his trauma (losing your ability to trust others for several years makes being vulnerable with a S/O a little difficult methinks).
2: otp - Barok X Arts and Crafts. I'll be honest, even though Albert/Benjamin was the first character to pop into my head, I didn't really see them as being romantically involved. And so, this is my OTP. I see making the diagrams for cases as something almost therapeutic for Barok. Considering he spends a lot of time tense and on high alert, I feel like it's probably nice to be able to just sit and work on something like that in the safety of his office. He'd take pride in all the little details, perhaps so focused he doesn't notice when he gets some paint on his face from moving his hair out of his eyes (wiping it off as soon as he notices though because an English gentleman can't walk about with a dirty face). I just want Barok to be able to relax from time to time, and art (even for the sake of work) is a nice outlet/distraction.
3: brotp - And this is where Albert/Benjamin comes in! I loved their dynamic. That belief Barok had in him, defending the instant kinesis machine so much because even if it was utter nonsense it was important to Albert/Ben. Not to mention sending his only real friend back to Germany despite having the opportunity to catch up and have some positive and happy interactions for once, all out of concern for his friend's safety? Like, Albert was more or less all he had left from his happier past (I know Tobias was there too but they seemed to interact on a mostly professional bases now), Albert/Ben was someone Barok knew he could trust in a world filled with perceived enemies. He was someone that genuinely made him happy! And yet, Barok was willing to put his own happiness and this chance for one good day aside because he was so worried the Reaper's curse would take Albert/Ben away and it'd be Klint all over again. He cared about his friend that much!! I have many many feelings about their friendship and how great it is but I am going to stop myself now xD
4: notp - Barok X Sholmes - As entertaining as it is to see the dynamic of serious/closed-off and "I'm just here to start s***" I could never do this to Barok. I feel that over time the two of them could have the occasional evening of fun debate, or maybe even intellectual discussion with the right topic, most likely because Iris is pushing for them to get along better, but it would probably only work if it's in small doses, so a relationship would be out of the question.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head: This man sleeps at a desk more often than a bed. Office aside, I feel like back at his home he gets ready for bed, glass of wine in hand, bed ready to go, and thinks "I'm not quite tired yet" and heads to his writing desk instead, working on paperwork, or perhaps reading a book that's caught his attention. Then, before he knows it, he wakes up with his pen in hand or a book on his lap. I feel like it started when he was taking his break, since he was no longer on a work schedule, and perhaps the poor sleeping habit stuck around. Or alternatively, it's a result of him not wanting to be alone with only his thoughts before bed. He needs to keep his mind distracted or he begins to think of Klint, or the curse, or if he'll be taking a safe enough route to get to that meeting tomorrow, perhaps he's less likely to get jumped if he takes that street instead? or...
6: one way in which I relate to this character: Barok seems to try to avoid getting close to people. It took two whole games and a jailcell for him to open up to Ryu about his past, and even that took some effort. While it's not to the degree of our wonderful god of death, I also find it difficult to trust or open up to people out of a fear of it hurting more when they inevitably leave. I'll say what's needed in the moment, what's expected of someone in whatever relationship I have with them, but I find it hard to properly open up about my feelings and allow myself to be vulnerable despite seeming honest on the outside. And then, just as he did in the final case, one day someone with enough persistence crosses that invisible threshold and I'm like "alright time to exposition dump if you're clearly sticking around anyways"
7: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: His "passive aggression" (to put it mildly) to Ryu is probably the biggest culprit. I could go on for hours analyzing the causes of, mindset behind and thematic purposes of his treatment of Ryu, but it doesn't change the fact that he does say some pretty rude and uncalled for things at times. Explanation does not equate to excuse after all. Though, I don't remember it being as bad as the fandom portrays, so I'll be paying more attention to it on my Twitch playthrough. (At the very least, he isn't physically assaulting the defense like some other prosecutors, as low of a bar as that is to reach). That being said, I also appreciate the fact that the characters in this game have flaws! People aren't perfect, and the less appealing sides of the Great Ace Attorney characters make them feel all the more real.
8: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? Enemy of his liver, Old Bailey janitors, Japanese Lawyers and his own emotions, I have to declare him a Problematic Fave xD

If Agent Carter wasn’t cancelled?
A couple of seasons more. Everything is good with Sousa for one season, then it goes sour for another one, and at the end of the next one they’re making up things again.
Things are working out for Peggy and Sousa, little by little. Then the final season is anounced for 2019 or 2020.
