I want to add and ask something about Layla do you think she would struggle with her sense of blame as well??? Yk?? Realizing that someone you love has been going through so much silent suffering for so long, in front of her without realizing , is an immensly devastating thing. I can't help but see Layla naturally wondering if she'd done something wrong , putting blame on herself to compensate for not having seen it sooner, let alone done something about it , or even feel a little insecure about Marc not feeling comfortable or trusting enough to share with her his DID.
That's a difficult question here anon!
I did think about the answer today. It's one of these questions that I'm still not completely sure about the answer.
Here's what I got so far.
Tumblr media
I did think about Layla finding out that Marc didn't just leave her, that he really *disappeared* or wanted to. She did feel some guilt, but she mostly felt more sympathetic towards his situation and wished they could have talked it through with each other instead of all that additional pain they gave each other.
Layla does blame herself somewhat in this, but not to the point of being devastated by it. One main reason being that she did see, throughout their 8-ish years of knowing each other, that Marc had some problems. She saw that he wasn't doing well sometimes - for no apparent reasons related to their lives together-, that he had down times- or even periods of depression-, that he was keen to keep a certain independence (like she was too, so she didn't mind it too much), that he had a strained relationship with his family that he didn't want to expand on, that there were subjects he didn't want to talk about, that he had a hard time talking about 'real things' (emotions, experiences etc), and that he had a tendency to disregard his own physical safety in battles.
She saw all that. She lived with him, and she's observant. But at the end of the day, those behaviors could be due to all sorts of things. She could guess, but it was hard to really know if something was going on with Marc - and what specifically was going on - without more information to go on.
Guys who had a difficult past and - due to toxic masculinity, something else, or both - repressed their feelings and didn't share weren't all that rare, especially in a line of work like mercenary. Layla had her own difficult past.
Had she ever contemplated the extent of Marc's ? No, she didn't. But she knew he had something in his past that still haunted him, just like she did.
I'm sure she did try to know more. But she's not the kind of person to press the issue or pester him about these things. The only thing she could do was being clear with him that she was there for him, that she would help him, whatever Marc came to her with. After that the ball was in his court.
.
Would she feel that he didn't trust her enough to talk to her about these things (DID, his past, etc.) ? I'm not sure. I'd say yes and no here too. She might feel that she never managed to 'break that wall', that they never managed to become as close as she wanted to, but then again Marc never told *anyone* about his DID, not even Steven, his alter! So if Marc had lived all his life without telling Steven they were part of a system, why would she expect that he'd tell her about it? Of course, she didn't learn that detail in the show, but it's possible Steven will tell her pretty early on.
.
Another important element here to not forget is that Marc wasn't one of those emotionless closed-off icewalls with Layla. In an earlier meta, I pointed out that Marc seemed to be secretive with Layla in the show, but that the only things he tried to hide/downplay/lie to her about were related to his traumas. His DID, and even Layla's dad's death are related to his traumas. Layla's dad death is *closely* related to his childhood traumas because it was 1) other people he failed to save 2) someone else he loves who would then hate him if she learned about it (or so he thought) and also, that day was pretty traumatic in itself too.
You could even say that the reason he left her was related to his traumas. Obviously because he couldn't control switches anymore after their mom's shiva. Coming back to her then would definitely have Layla discover he had DID sooner or later. But also protecting her from Khonshu. When did Khonshu start to manipulate Marc by dangling that possibility and why ? I think Marc wanted out of being Khonshu's avatar for awhile, but his desperation for an out was recent. After his mother's shiva, he wasn't able to be Khonshu's avatar anymore (or so he thought) and definitely didn't want to. So being so close to Layla while trying desperately to kick out Khonshu wasn't a good idea in Marc's mind. I think those two events are very linked, and that's something important to remember.
So Marc, I'm pretty sure, told her about everything else in his past, in his life. He told her about Khonshu, he told her about Moon Knight, they knew about the scarab and started looking for it together. She knows he is/was a mercenary. He told her about his strained family relationship, even though he didn't tell her why.
So Marc wasn't secretive about everything. He was actually secretive about very specific things. Which, unfortunately, were big parts of his life. I'm sure Marc did tell her about problems he had, asked for help and even helped her on things that happened throughout the years of their relationship. Was it still difficult for him to do so? Yes. I think he still genuinely tried though.
.
This response actually lets me include something about Marc and Layla's relationship I've been wanting to post for awhile:
Their relationship, all things considered, worked remarkably well to have lasted for so long. And I think I know why.
Layla is like Marc, in all the ways that count. She was able to get him, without having to say anything, more so than anyone else before. They could just understand each other: their drive, their pragmatism, their ideologies, their temperament, their independence, their sense of adventure and morality, with some shared past experiences (and even their humor I would say). It had been easy for them to build that chemistry, and even that team work.
Tumblr media
[Couldn't find any of the other scenes I wanted in gifs ;_;]
However, their relationship couldn't grow any further without Marc being truly open with her, on everything. Their relationship, if it hadn't already, would've hit a wall eventually.
.
When Layla said Marc would do 'the lone wolf thing' it meant that Marc had done that before, but he clearly didn't do that all the time. I think with the teamwork they built, with their trust in each other, Marc did the 'lone wolf act' only when he thought there was a high risk for Layla's safety and life. (The lone wolf mention could also reference the times when they went on missions/adventures separately. I think Layla did those as much as Marc did. And some of these 'missions' were actually about letting Steven out for Marc).
.
Would Layla now think that Marc didn't trust her enough to confide in her about his DID ? Maybe? Although she knows he did trust her for a lot of things.
To me, Layla would feel * some* guilt, thinking about what she could've done differently so Marc would've told her - most of us would. But that wouldn't be the primary emotion she would be feeling. I think she'd feel regret. Regrets about how their relationship could've been different, closer, more stable maybe, if she'd known before - without blaming anyone specifically for that.
I think she'd feel deep empathy for the Marc system, and determination. Determination to make it work, determination to not let something like that happen again, and to connect with them in the areas she hadn't connected with Marc before. That's why she would listen eagerly to whatever Steven would tell her about DID - and theirs specifically - while also doing her own research.
.
Would she feel empowered to help them properly though ? Hmmmm initially maybe, but she'll find out that it is a pretty harduous task. She would need her own support eventually.
And what would she think of the
'You husband, he is in agony. More pain than anyone can bare'
Harrow said that to her shortly before reopening her own pain she had to deal with. I don't think she really was able to contemplate what it meant at the time. Would she be reminded of it, think back on it ?
I'm not sure.
If she did, she would feel that anguish about someone she loves so much being in such constant pain.
That doesn't negate what Layla herself went through though, and all of her reactions to Marc in season 1 were still fully justified.
.
So whatever guilt she'd be feeling, Layla is pragmatic and would rather focus on pushing forward and find all the ways in which she can make the Marc system's life, and her life with them, better.

No current drama with that ML (especially ML not being a fictional person but Qin Shi Huang himself) would ever pass censorship now.
But, more to the point, what I love about this drama is, forget the term "red flag" beloved by the kids nowadays - this man is shown a bona fide ambitious, capable, magnetic monster. No coy flag terms needed. He's totally fit to be a period ruler, but as a romantic choice, oh boy! (His troops also murder FL's grandpa on their conquering rampage, but he's not personally involved, so that is the least of his problems.)
Between that first ep, the historical QSH and the fact that this is a prequel of sorts to Legend of Qin, which follows FL's son and where QSH is the villain (!), everything about this screams "this is a not a man who will mellow and reform due to the love of a good woman." But the drama is so brilliant because it uses the viewers' own yearning for a proper romance narrative, their experience with the default narratives being "ruthless man reforms for love" and the fact that not only does the OTP have great chemistry, but that ZBB, who as ML gives the best performance of his career imo, does portray the ML as someone who is impossibly magnetic and impossibly intense and utterly, completely in love with Dilraba's FL, to lead on the viewers to go "but what if...maybe...maybe?!" Only to then slap you with that infamous ending. (One of my favorite, most logical tragic endings of all time.)
God, this drama is SO GOOD!
youtube
ETA: I always thought that ending was both a perfect punishment and a perfect test. Because she knew, KNEW, he would kill her if she came at him with a weapon. But the thing he has to live with is not just the knowledge she merely used him to commit suicide by cop because she flipped the dagger at the last moment making it clear she never planned to hurt him, but the knowledge that it was also a test by her, wasn't it? If he loved her enough to be willing to risk being hurt/killed by her, to trust her, she'd be alive, he'd be unhurt, and I think this would have given them another chance - she'd have known he loved her above himself even when it looked like her love turned to hate, and I think this really would have enabled them to be happy in the future. But, as she knew he would, he failed that test. And he has to live not just with the knowledge that he killed the woman he loved and who never intended to harm him, but with the knowledge that he took his future of happiness away himself.

I made a Grishaverse Controversy Meme!
Tumblr media
My favorite character for season 1 was Jesper cause he was so charming, hilarious, and always wore his heart on his sleeve
General Kirigan has been and will always be my least favorite character of the Grishaverse
Favorite ship will always be Kanej, no matter what
My least favorite ship will always be Darklina, it's toxic, how do you expect me to like it?
Episode 5 was the best, it was chaotic as hell! You have Alina living her dream life and Jesper limping around with that stable boy while Kaz, Inej, and Mal are running around trying not to die. It was incredible!
I don't hate episode 2, it's just there wasn't that much going on
My favorite moment has to be when Jesper, Kaz, and Inej first appeared on the show. That was simply iconic!
Watching Kirigan grow antlers out of Alina's collarbones made me really uncomfortable
I also made one for season 2!
Tumblr media
This time around, the best character trophy must go to Kaz Brekker. I mean, you all saw season 2 right? He was practically drowning in angst. His pain is now bare for the viewers to see, he was extremely vulnerable, but simultaneously badass and formidable
Kirigan is still the worst
Kanej is always the best OTP, okay? Especially this season. Kaz cleaned her wound, Inej watched out for him and pulled him out of the crowd when he was panicking, her dream, their goodbye scene? Okay, bye, that's enough. Should I say more, I'm going to cry.
Darklina still the worst
Need I explain myself when I say that Episode 4 was the best? The best scene of the entire show is the Kaz and Pekka showdown. The lighting, the dialogue, THE ACTING!!! FREDDY FUCKING KILLED IT!!! It's as if he extracted Kaz's spirit from the books, turned it into a beverage and drank it. He poured his heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears out on the screen... so someone give him an Academy Award, or else!
Episode 7 was the worst episode of the show. There were very little of the Crows, the so-called battle scene was horribly choreographed and cringy, and they made my beloved Jesper COMPLETELY out of character by making him chop off that tidemaker's fingers. Listen, Jesper is tough, but there's no way he would do something like that.
The best moment, I spoke about before, will always be the Kaz and Pekka showdown. In fact, it's not just the best scene of the season, it's the best scene of the entire show!
The battle scene in episode 7 is the worst yet. I mentioned it before, I don't think I need to repeat myself.

do that with Cassie
Sure! :D
Cassie:
favorite thing about them I adore how sassy she can be- like yeah she'll go down and save Gregory from the ruined Pizzaplex, that's her bestie she'd do anything for him, but that won't stop her from complaining about it. i.e. "Under Roxy Racers? *huff* that's all the way on the other side, I'm not even close." Also I believe her VA said something about her not being scared when going into the Pizzaplex iirc cause she "didn't know she was supposed to be scared" and I think that's interesting,,, "yeah that old, decaying, falling apart, creepy Pizzaplex? I don't see why I'd be scared. Gregory wants me to go there so I'm sure it's safe. Plus, what could possibly be hiding inside anyways? Bugs?" <---clueless
least favorite thing about them I'm not good at picking out least favorite things about characters I love LMAO They're just precious and beloved and I see no wrong in them<333
favorite line "that was too close. I was almost a Cassie sandwich" the DELIVERY. I love her so much even in the worst situations she's still making little shithead remarks/aff
brOTP Her and Gregory are the siblings ever<333
OTP Again- if these can be purely platonic and have no familial or romantic meaning, then her and Ellis should be and would be best friends and I stand by this forever and ever
nOTP x
random headcanon When she met up with Gregory again after SB she started helping him tear down his missing posters. She didn't know why he wanted them gone or why he was so hesitant in public, but she didn't want to pry too much and just wanted to help out. She tried, couldn't get a lot of answers out of him, and realized it was just too out of his comfort zone to talk about whatever happened while he was missing, so she just resorted to helping him however she can!
unpopular opinion Tbh I don't think she'd be angry after the elevator fall or even believe it was Gregory- at least not immediately!! Like- I could see her becoming angry over time, but I honestly think that at first she'd 100% think it was the Mimic- I mean- she literally just met a giant endo that was trying to kill her that mimicked her friends voice and communicated through speakers, I don't think she'd assume her best friend would try and kill her after meeting a dude like that. Maybe she'd end up thinking it was Gregory later and becoming way more bitter about it afterwards if we're going the Vannie route, but I think at first she'd just be really tired and sad and upset at the Mimic, but not at Gregory. She probably just thinks "he's my best friend, he would never do that. I'm sure he's on his way to get me right now, so I just need to survive a few more hours and I'll be fine." or something like that
song i associate with them Hmmm if we're talking Vannie arc then I'd say "I'm Irritated" by Fishy Bishie. If we're talking normal Cassie, then I don't listen to a lot of songs that I would consider "Cassiecore" that aren't specifically made to be Cassie songs if you know what I mean? But maybe that one really good part of "One Normal Night"
favorite picture of them
Tumblr media
She's so confident and happy how could you possibly hate her<333

OMG it’s already January! I’m so very late to this and I have seen so many wonderful lists, but I very much wanted to make my own, so I did. We are so lucky to be spoiled by so many incredible fics – here are some (in no particular order) that grabbed me by the heart and never let go.
💀 draco malfoy’s substitute murder service by @oknowkiss (Draco/Harry, E, 10k)
I HAVE. NO WORDS. In the best possible way. This fic has to be experienced first-hand. E is an insane genius. That’s it, that’s the rec.
🧑🏼‍🍳 Make This Leap by @oflights (Draco/Harry, M, 118k)
Competent Draco and disaster Harry my beloved! This fic is so sweet and lovely and I want to live in it forever.
📩 Per my last letter (I hope you choke on it) by @fluxweeed, @lastontheboat (Draco/Harry, T, 10k)
I laughed SO much reading this! It went straight into the bookmarks and I visit it every so often when I need a pick-me-up. And I swear I discover some new clever detail every time I do! Delightful, hilarious, perfect.
🐥 Robin’s Flufftober 2022 by @rockingrobin69 (Draco/Harry, M, 17,5k)
October was my favourite month because every day we got a dose of soft soft Robin sweetness - a moment of peace and safety every time her name popped on tumblr dashboard. I protect this collection in my bookmarks like the treasure it is.
❣️ Draco Malfory Absolutely Does Not Need to Be Loved by Harry Bloody Potter by @nv-md (Draco/Harry, E, 18k)
Draco’s voice in this fic! From the very first sentence (no, from the title!) I knew I was in the right hands. What a treat!
🛁 Rubber Drakey by @crazybutgood (Draco/Harry, T, comic)
This fic is an utter delight, creative and clever, adorable and laugh-out-loud funny. This is Draco in his cutest form!
🌞 Look For Me In the Sun by @wolfpants (Draco/Harry, M, 9k)
Obviously a wolfpants fic had to be on this list but which one? *points at the whole catalogue* There is no way to go wrong there, what a year they had! I think I have screamed most about Pages of you (the number of times AO3 tells me I visited that one is embarrassing), Romp and Circumstance, and The Hollow (yes these are links, what of it, no it’s not cheating), so I’m going mention another favourite: Look For Me In The Sun, gorgeously atmospheric, achy, stunningly written.
🦦 Kept in Cages by @sweet-s0rr0w and @ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm (Draco/Harry, E, 77k)
This has got to be THE fic this year for me. It’s fitting, because last year it was Nor All That Glisters, which got me into the drarry fandom properly, so of course it’s Sweet who just casually swoops in with another banger that won’t leave my brain, accompanied by the most incredible Joy art. I think this fic had me already at the tags but I was not ready for everything there is to love about the story - it’s impossible to do it justice in just a few short sentences, but if you haven't read it yet, it should be on your list for sure.
💍 Paper Rings by @lettersbyelise (Draco/Harry, E, 50k)
OTP: inevitable. Two timelines, both so exquisitely delivered: eighth-year drarry and grown-up drarry, both times so different and wholesome. This story is everything I love: nuanced, funny, full of pining and history.
🌙 Take the Moon by @tackytigerfic (Draco/Harry, M, 15k)
This fic grabbed me and squeezed, and I don’t think I’ve been able to catch my breath since. I’m actually lost for words here because the story makes me feel so much but I haven’t been able to name it yet and maybe that’s okay. It’s the Tacky way of reaching deep down into my feelings and letting me sit with them.
🍋 Preserving Lemons by @saintgarbanzo and @ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm (Draco/Harry, E, 17k)
I think this might be the only time I managed to guess the author when this was still anon (and, well. The genius artist too). Such intimacy and longing, gorgeous food and so many layers to the story.
🌼 He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not by @sleepstxtic (Draco/Harry, Draco/Astoria, T, 5k)
I know that the infidelity tag might put some people off, but this is a stunningly written (devastating) Astoria PoV that absolutely clawed at my heart in the best possible way.
🍎 The Wrong Sort by @vukovich (Draco/Harry, not rated)
This fic makes me want to scream even though Vuk came back with a second part that patched up my broken heart. “I didn’t know how else to keep it” will forever be etched into my eyelids. Thank you, Vuk.
🥂 Nights With You by @the-sinking-ship (Draco/Harry, E, WIP)
Technically, this counts because Sly started posting in Dec and I’m obsessed! Flirting! Banter! Oblivious Draco! *screams*

Year of the OTP - November 2023 - Missing Scars
(An unusual look at the "De-aging" prompt, perhaps, but Shadowbringers' resolution for the Scions sits with me. 980 words.)
Tumblr media
The differences were so subtle, it was difficult to explain. Six years all told had passed, which was not many, but just enough.
In six years in the First, he had watched children and adolescents grow up—had watched Ryne grow up, most importantly. Yet now, looking out over the Toll, local children exactly as he remembered them played in the yards and through the streets of their small frontier town.
Animals too; six years could be quite some time for many a beloved pet or farm animal. In dangerous lands and uncertain areas, six years was an entire lifetime for many. Yet the same dogs and cats scampered through the Toll after their masters.
The external similarities, where he expected changes, were not the only ones, of course. He turned back to the hand mirror and inspected his eye once more.
After his misadventure in the Lifestream, and all that had followed in Coerthas, and then their participation in liberating Ala Mhigo, he just hadn’t taken the time to let it rest and heal. The best he had done, that he could do, for so long was to keep it covered and unused, or at least as little as possible. His depth perception had suffered, and even now he had to practice to get back to using both his eyes, instead of compensating for missing one.
His body’s enforced slumber, tended to by their excellent healing staff, had finally allowed the aetheric damage time to heal. He didn’t see so much as a wisp of aetheric underlay, there was no eye strain, no clouded vision. He had been concerned about that, returning from the First to his own body once again. But the damage was finally healed.
A few other aches and pains he thought he ought to have seemed to have vanished as well; he couldn’t be certain if it was due to the rest, or if their healer team had taken advantage of his soul’s absence to repair some old damages.
Not to mention missing scars; he knew when he had arrived in the First, his mental image of his Self had neglected a few minor ones, or those he did not see and think about often.
Aeryn had noticed. The first time they were together as lovers again, she had noted the differences in his scars; some missing, some new—to her anyroad, there in Norvrandt, and his misadventures over the years he had spent caring for Ryne while missing Aeryn.
He had not asked yet about the changes to his scars again now. The ones they had forgotten, the ones that were now missing—all the evidence of his time in that other realm. Scars were stories, and so he had always been proud of his. Evidence of times he had survived, his years of experiences.
Six years wiped away and lost forever.
He finished shaving, cleaning and packing away his kit, tossing the soapy water. “You look years younger, clean-shaven and with your hair cut” more than one person had told him, in more or less those words. He had, perhaps, let himself go a bit, after Dravania.
After the Antitower.
Aeryn had never minded the stubble and long hair, but Ryne had quietly bullied him into shaving and trimming up. And it had made him look more fitting to be her guardian in the First, rather than a rough wilderness scout.
He turned, and found Aeryn silently watching him now, arms crossed, leaning on the doorway as he stood on the small balcony. “The washroom not bright enough?” she asked.
He shrugged. “That, and I didn’t want to disturb you, sleepyhead.”
“As if I ever mind being woken by you,” she pouted.
“Oh, you mind. I simply know best how to distract you from your ire,” he teased.
She blushed, as he knew she would, tracing her finger down an old scar on his bare chest. “How are you feeling this morning?”
“Fit as a fiddle—though we shall see if Krile agrees, and allows me to train with Radovan yet.”
“Just don’t overdo it, old man,” she joked.
“Oh, don’t you start that again,” he grumbled as she giggled. He frowned, looking down and away in thought. “I do keep forgetting how old I am now. I have to think about it.”
Her fingertip hooked under his chin, turning his gaze back to her lovely gray eyes. “Old enough,” she said gently, pulling him in for a kiss.
He hummed thoughtfully as they broke, leaning his forehead on hers. “There is some time before I’m due to see our healers,” he noted. “Perhaps a private demonstration of just how young and healthy I feel right now is in order.”
“You’re incorrigible,” she murmured, blush tinging her ears now. She traced another scar, still reacquainting herself with his reset appearance.
“That isn’t a no,” he pointed out, slipping his hand under her shirt to touch her skin, fingertips finding a scar that she had earned in the First, that she got to keep, having been there in both body and soul, only five physical years between them now instead of six. It wasn’t much time at all really, and yet—
His thoughts came to a stop as she pulled away, clasping his hand to draw him after her. Her face was very red now, the ease with which her blush appeared ever endearing. “It wasn’t, and there is time,” she said.
Five of those years had been spent missing her. There had been an underlying fear of growing old—worse, growing old without her.
But only a handful of moons had passed in the Source, those years he spent in the First reset, only the memories good and bad remaining. And here she yet was, here they both were, finding what had changed and what remained the same for all those years that had passed in no time at all.

4. My Cyberpunk 2077 OC, JV AKA Jared V. I wanted another male OC, and JV kind of appeared in my lap and I fell in love instantly. He's around, lurking in the shadows a lot, but he's there. ;)

My Cyberpunk 2077 Ship, otp: Golden Hues. Originally called "disaster boyfriends" and for good reason. I refuse to tag that old ship name xD and don't you go looking for it either. Romantic partners, Goro Takemura & my OC Vaughn Leblanc. Running the Badlands together like the coolest nomads you ever did see. (My ship heavily leans Nomad Goro, with some occasional downtime in the city). My #1 ship, and my most cherished ship yet. They own my heart entirely. ♥
2. My Cyberpunk 2077 Ship, otp: Rebels With A Cause. Romantic partners, Johnny Silverhand & my OC Mercy. I don't have a whole lot in their ship tag right now, hoping to change that soon with my growing love for Johnny. These two are insane (affectionate).
3. My Cyberpunk 2077 Ship, otp: Knives Out. A fairly new ship involving Patricia from Maelstrom & my OC, Maggie Borden. Also not many photos, but they will be appearing more often very soon ^_^ These two can be seen around Northside, probably covered in blood, probably carrying at least 2 knives on them at all times. Opposites also couldn't attract anymore than with these two.

And Round 1 is Done!
PROPAGANDA
"Picture this: the love of your life betrays you and causes your death, then you're brought back to life later against your will and your lover is with your reincarnation. Anyone would feel bitter! She tries her best to keep living her half life and helping people. She's hated just because she's not the main character and gets in the way of the show's OTP."
"Kikyo was such an interesting character. She was murdered by the villain, who tricked both her and her love interest into thinking the other had betrayed them, brought back to life against her will only to find that fifty years had passed, the world had moved on without her, her baby sister was now an old woman, and she'd been condemned to an awful half-life in an unfeeling clay body where she was stuck in her worst moments and basically a vengeful spirit, but she eventually managed to move past it, gave up her one chance at getting revenge on her murderer to save the life of a child, and achieved some measure of inner peace before she died for good. But, she also has the misfortune of being the first love of the male lead, so of course the only thing anyone seems to care about is how she supposedly did him dirty and wasn't good enough for him. The whole fandom is chock full of meta posts about how she didn't trust Inuyasha enough and should have known he'd NEVER betray her like that. Meanwhile, Inuyasha fell for it just as easily when the villain framed HER for attacking HIM, but nobody ever tries to claim that HE didn't trust HER enough. (For further context, when she thought he'd betrayed her, she retaliated by pinning him to a tree and putting him in an enchanted sleep. He retaliated by destroying her village.) In at least 90% of the fanfics that she appears in at all, she's either the Bad Girlfriend or the Evil Ex, who either previously or is currently abusing the hero, or cheating on him, or trying to coerce him into turning human, or dating him for years only to break up with him by telling him he disgusts her because of his demon blood (huh???), none of which she did in the actual canon, solely so the preferred love interest can swoop in and kiss it all better. People will claim they're just making valid criticisms of her actions (which, to be fair, aren't always great), or saying she didn't properly earn her redemption (which is actually pretty standard for a shounen series) because she didn't apologize enough, but them multiple male characters who did far worse than she did somehow miraculously managed to escape the constant criticisms that she's subjected to, this despite having a so-called redemption that's literally just "He stopped eating people because he wanted to get into the heroine's pants", and remain very popular characters both in their own right and as alternate ships for the female lead. The double standards are so glaringly obvious, yet people will bend over backwards and jump through mental hoops that would give a gold-medal Olympics gymnast pause to insist that they're being completely objective and fair and that this isn't just about trying to score points in a ship war or holding female characters to completely different standards from male characters."
Kairi Propaganda
"The Kingdom Hearts game series is about Mickey Mouse battling the forces of Darkness with an alliance of fashionable anime boys. Kairi is a major character, and one of the few female characters. She is part of a trio of childhood best friends, with the protagonist Sora and their other friend Riku (who had a villain arc and then a redemption arc). Though Kairi is constantly and clumsily sidelined by the canon narrative, she arguably has more backstory going on than any other major characters. She is a refugee from another planet. She implicitly lost her beloved grandma at five years old in the traumatic destruction of their hometown. She was kidnapped and experimented on by an evil wizard-scientist—she escaped thanks to having a magic charm that basically teleported her to her soulmate(s). Then she had to adjust to living on a new planet and being adopted by a new family. In the very first game, when she's 14, she turns out her pure heart is one of 7 in the entire universe to be free of Darkness—she shows a full emotional spectrum of fear, sadness, frustration, defeat, but she isn't vulnerable to corruption. In KH2, she becomes one of the Chosen Ones who wield a magical weapon called a Keyblade. She loves her friends very much, and she has the unique talent to instantly recognize them even when they've been transformed into monsters. She has saved them several times with nothing but the Power Of Love in her heart randomly manifesting in, like, telepathy and teleportation and resurrection—she doesn't even consciously know that she has powers, her love is just so great that it's accepted as a tangible force of nature. She is frustrated and ashamed by her role as a damsel in distress, and she wishes to be stronger and combat-capable so that she join her male friends on their adventures instead of waiting around where it's safe. Also she was kidnapped by an evil assassin clown who's ten years older than her, and then they became friends. NOT ONLY does the fandom plug its ears and claim there is nothing interesting about this character and no potential in her story—Kairi has been demonized by the fandom for about 20 years. Somehow Kairi is useless and boring while also being a Mary Sue at the same time. She was called a bitch and a slut and a whore. She was hated for wearing too much pink and wielding a girly weapon with a floral design. She was criticized as a slut for wearing a short skirt, and for THE PLAYER being able to manipulate the camera into a contrived angle to look up her skirt to see her panties in the first edition of KH2. You can find nearly 20-year-old fanfiction and fanart of her being twisted into an evil schemer driving her friends apart, and of her being gleefully brutalized and insulted. Haters STILL comb for every crumb to make elaborate anti-canon theories about why she's an agent of evil, even though canon has FIRMLY ESTABLISHED for TWENTY YEARS since the very beginning that she's THE ONE CHARACTER incapable of growing Darkness in her heart. The theory is that she exists only as a puppet sent by the main villain to sabotage her friends (the plot for two out of the four main female characters) for all ten years of their friendship. The theory is that she's been using her powers to force her friends to love her—and their Power Of Friendship that is the EMOTIONAL BACKBONE OF THE STORY, and THE MAJOR FORCE OF GOOD IN THEIR UNIVERSE, and THE MOST CONSISTENT MOTIVATION FOR THE HEROES is all Just Misdirection LOL building up to a shitty Plot Twist. The theory is that she's secretly a custom-manufactured Chirithy (a cute talking animal companion that serves and guides humans)—and not a human girl with her own natural feelings and aspirations. AND THEN after stripping her of every important trait and role, these fans claim they're making Kairi more important and interesting than she is in canon. I don't know what causes the fandom to so desperately hate a sweet 14-year-old girl who literally canonically never did anything wrong."

19, 27, and 37 from the OTP asks for Tommy and his darling wife 🥰
Eek thank you for requesting these 🤩 OTP relationship asks link
19 - How do they deal with being away from each other for a long time?
The Mrs. is alright. She often feels safer when he is around, so his absence makes her a little more anxious than normal. (Being married to a gangster is anxiety inducing stuff I'd imagine) She doesn’t sleep quite as well without him there. She hates eating alone. However she does take advantage of the nights she has alone to get caught up on reading (Tommy often distracts her) and after they have their children, she plans little activities to do with the children, who are also missing their father. She usually comes up with sweet ways to welcome him home that involve his babies. He gets the biggest smile on his face when he sees the little projects they've made for him while he was away. (And this is super top secret, but he's never thrown a single thing away that they've made for him. He'd never admit that to anybody though. The Mrs. only found out about it one day when she was shuffling through boxes in his closet trying to find a very specific chain for his watch.) Tommy though… after a few days of being away, he gets quite irritable. His men hate when he has to be away for more than two or three days at a time with him. His temper is shorter and it doesn’t take much for him to lose it on somebody. Patience is super thin on trips when he’s away from his beloved. When he gets home he just wants to snuggle and be close to her. He tells her every time he returns home that it'll be the last time he's away for that long. (Which, inevitably never happens but he swears one day he'll never have to go away again.)
27 - What random everyday object/activity makes them think of each other?
When Tommy was in his rather serious accident the first few years of their marriage, and he had cracked some ribs, it was difficult for him to bend for a while--it caused him some pretty severe pain. And so, tying his shoes was nearly impossible for a long while. So for those months when he was healing, his wife knelt in front of him in the mornings and tied his shoes. The first few times he was embarrassed beyond belief. I can't even tie my own laces, he'd think to himself. But she'd look up at him with those eyes and he'd have to look away, overcome with emotion. And after the embarrassment faded, an overwhelming feeling comes over him and tears spring to his eyes. Whether it's because he can't believe he got this gem, or because he can't believe he was almost robbed of so many more years with her, so many more memories with her, he can't figure out. But he thinks of her every time he ties his laces now. For their first anniversary, Tommy got his beloved a locket with his initials engraved on the back, and a photo of them on their wedding day tucked safely inside. Whenever she was lost in thought, whether concentrating or finding herself nervous, she would start fumbling with the locket, anxiously running her thumb over the engraving on the back, and instantly thinking of her husband--every fear disappearing.
37 - What do they like the least about each other?
Aah jeez. The Mrs. has some serious issues with how arrogant Tommy can be--with how above death he seems at times. Most of their fights revolve around her reminding him he is not immortal and that one day his arrogance and pride will take him to the grave. Tommy has some serious issues with how trusting his bride can be with others. She, despite all the evil she has seen in this world he has brought her into, has never seemed to be able to shake the ability to see the good and the best in people, which much to his annoyance, she manages to find in everybody. It's gotten her into some pretty sticky situations before. (In her defense, Tommy is skeptical about everything and everyone... any time she tries to tell him about a new person she met at the market or the store he narrows his eyes and tries to see it from every angle. How they could be trying to take advantage of her. Sometimes its worked in her favor and others... not so much.)

I've been in the Star Trek fandom spaces long enough, time to talk publicly about a thing that I am injecting into every fic where it is relevant
So if you've been paying attention to my blog the last couple months, you will know I am a huge fan of @enbygesserit 's work. They write the absolute best Dominion lore and fic I have ever had the pleasure of reading/encountering, and I eat up each new piece like my favourite confectionery.
What I am about to discuss predates any exposure I had to their work by at least thirteen years.
And the ship it surrounds was my DS9 OTP for two entire decades (before I discovered the O'Brien polycule and now my DS9 otp is a "One True Polyamorous tangle", but moving on).
That ship being Kiraodo. My heart broke when Odo confessed his love to an apparently dying Kira, she said she loved him back, and that was the clue for him to realise she was not Kira at all. And then when the Female Changeling Voice of the Link told him Kira would never love him because he was a Changeling, I was a tiny sad twelve-yo who thought, "But I love him!" And then I wanted it to be a thing.
And when I found out it was a thing in canon but they had to part ways at the end of the series, I was happy and sad at the same time.
I was a teenager, I didn't know the relationship felt awkward to some (though to be fair I still hated Children of Time and what the alternate/Gaia Odo did, but I address that in another fic so it's fine). I just wanted the sad Changeling and the fiery Bajoran to prove the mean Changeling wrong.
But also, I acknowledged to myself, even in 2009-10, that it would not be fair to Odo at all to make him leave his people again so quickly. I felt sympathetic toward the Changelings/Founders even as a teenager who had not and would not see DS9 in its entirety (curse you, cable TV! You with your reruns and exorbitant prices making it so hard for us to keep you for more than a few months at a time!) Anyways, I knew even then that I didn't want to take Odo away from his people again, even for him and Kira to be together.
So what was my solution?
Here were the canon points I considered at age nineteen (I was creating the bare bones of the Galactic Warp AU at the time and also had a strict must-adhere-to-canon policy for any fanfic ideas I'd had at the time):
The Great Link turned Odo into a solid.
The baby Changeling in The Begotten turned him back, at the cost of its life (but maybe not if it hadn't already been dying).
Therefore, it is canonically possible for a solid to become a Changeling.
What if Kira had been Changelinged?
WHY IS THAT NOT CANON?
I have this as a significant plot point in any Kiraodo content I'm going to write, so if you see Kiraodo becoming a thing in any fic, expect to see Changeling Kira show up somewhere.
"But wait!" someone yells. "You just said you didn't want to take Odo from his people, and Kira's Bajoranness is a huge part of her identity! And you're gonna just take that away from her?"
No, actually. You think the Prophets give a shit whether or not Kira's corporeal form is solid? Fuck no, they're not corporeal and time is not linear for them! The Kira is always the Kira. The Kira is always of Bajor. The Kira is always beloved of the Prophets.
This holds true in every single fic in which I have inserted this. Kira doesn't always become a Changeling full time (some of my AUs have magic), but more importantly, She never stops being Bajoran in the ways that really matter.
Which, if this had been a canon episode, would have been emphasised by the Prophets themselves and I am not taking critique on this.
"But the Founders would never do this in canon!" I hear you cry. "They hate solids and the Voice doesn't like Kira especially!"
First of all, the convoluted love triangle between Odo, Kira and the Voice was stupid.
Second of all, it doesn't even have to be them who do it, we got other more powerful entities around! Q was basically banned from DS9, sure, but what if Kira and Odo weren't on DS9?
Here's my idea for how this could have happened in canon, if the writers had really wanted to sell us the ship.
Odo and Kira have been away on a mission together (doesn't matter where, they just have to be off the station). It's sometime in Season 6, post the Dominion occupation of DS9. When the runabout returns, Odo coms the station and says he needs to give them warning about something, and they're going to have to take him at his word, however hard that may be.
"What's wrong?" Sisko asks. "And where's Major Kira?"
In response, Odo holds up his bucket. There is a Changeling in goo form inside.
"There was an—incident while we were returning from our mission. It was successful, by the way."
Sisko stares at the screen intently for a moment.
"Are you saying," he asks slowly, "that Major Kira was replaced by a Changeling?"
"No, Captain," Odo responds. "I am saying this Changeling is Major Kira."
Cue opening theme!
And possibly this would be a two-parter! I feel that with the whole theme of DS9 being nuance, and with the Dominion being such a big deal, it deserves to be!
Basically the plot would first involve a flashback to Q popping in while Kira and Odo are arguing about something Changeling-related or whatever, going "You know, I've been watching you and yours for a while now—from a safe distance of course—and frankly, I've been surprised by the lack of nuance with regard to the Founders."
And Kira's all, "Oh come on, don't you start with this high-and-mighty attitude! I read all the records about you after your last visit to Deep Space 9, you don't have any room to talk!"
"And neither do you," Q fires back. "You think your terrible acts were justified, don't you? Oh, you know they were dreadful, the fact that you could be so violent distressed you so! But when it comes down to it, you can sleep at night, because you helped drive out the Cardassians and set Bajor free. But when the Dominion imposes their order on their part of the galaxy because they used to be oppressed and were traumatised, you sit there on what moral high ground you have and pass judgment on them!"
"I don't need to hear this! Especially not from you! Sisko made you stay away from the station—from us! Now get off this runabout and leave us alone."
"Oh, you do need to hear it, Nerys. But if you insist on me leaving, let me do so on my terms. Don't worry, my little firework, I'll make sure you don't need my help undoing this." And he snaps his fingers and disappears.
And Kira's form begins to melt and she barely has time to call Odo's name before she dissolves into Changeling goo.
Back on DS9, everyone's a bit frantic after seeing the runabout footage, which confirms Odo's story. He links with her and is able to help her reform after a little time, during which we get to hear panicked Kira thoughts and some cool visuals of what the link is like for her. We get a scene after she's able to shift back into herself where Jadzia quips that she's got purple hair and Cardassian neck ridges or something, which is not amusing to her at all.
Then there's a whole discussion on how they're going to fix her before the rest of the Federation finds out, because "Are they going to believe the testimony of one rogue Changeling and the footage from a runabout computer? What if they decide Kira's a threat and take her into custody?"
And the answer is pretty obvious, especially after Julian examines a sample of her matrix and discovers traces of her dna are still in it.
They have to take her to the Great Link so she can be restored to solidity. The Founders are rather good at genetic manipulation, after all. It'll be fine!
Except they're at war, and the Voice does not like Kira, which forms the majority of the conflict, as they have to convince any Dominion forces they meet that "Seriously, we are not here to fight, please don't blow us up, we just want to help our friend, yes we mean it, don't fire!"
And in the end Kira has to pretend to be a Founder just to get the various ships to leave them alone, and it's weird as fuck for her but she makes it to the Great Link and the Voice is there and doesn't believe her at first until they link and she gets proof from her memories.
Which leads to Kira finding out about the morphogenic virus early, and being incensed, because "Look, I don't like you, but that's crossing multiple lines! I'd never have signed off on that if it were up to me, and I know Sisko wouldn't either! Doctor Bashir's brilliant—he can help you, I'm sure of it."
"Even if we did not help you right away?"
"I can wait, if I have to. I'm kind of getting used to this whole thing. It's been—an interesting experience."
And after another link to confirm that yes, she means that and it's not even in a bad way, the Voice consents to help her regain her solid status and she goes into the Great Link, gets a small taste of the Founders' collective trauma and is deeply moved by it, bursting into tears when she emerges, once more humanoid. There's a whole final scene about how she wishes more people in the Federation could have experienced what she did, and then she goes to write a log entry on the whole thing or something.
But this would absolutely change the trajectory of the war because that's how DS9 works, so it wouldn't just be handwaved away. in subsequent episodes, Julian is able to find a cure—possibly with help from within the Dominion itself because the Founders would very much like to not die and Julian is being Julian at them and they're taking a real liking to him.
And the galaxy is saved because Q did a thing! But also Kira understands Odo better after this and their relationship is all the richer for it.
*Starts chanting* It should've been canon, it should've been canon, it should've been canon, IT SHOULD'VE BEEN CANON!

tony stark for your ask game? <3
peachy fren! thanks for the ask!
Favorite thing about them All of him. Every last bit. I left this question for last because I had no idea what to say. He's my favorite character of anything ever. Picking just one favorite is impossible.
Least favorite thing about them Hmmmmm, maybe how smart he is? But mostly just because it's so difficult to write. Oh, I know! The fact that Marvel, in an effort to keep up with the economy, has made him a billionaire because I'm so tired of seeing the coldest takes on how being a fictional billionaire makes him the literal devil.
Favorite line MCU: "I am Iron Man" (the first time) I'll admit I wasn't sold on the idea of Iron Man when I originally saw it. I grew up on the Tim Burton Batman films and only watched the X-Men movies for the scenes with Rogue in them (baby Alle had a crush), so I thought I knew what superheroes were and I wasn't overly impressed with them. And then Tony stood there and took accountability for his actions and at the very young age of 12, I sat up and took notice. Comics: "Good morning, beloved" because he's just so blasé about the whole thing. Why are you calling him beloved, Tony, hmm? Answer me, Marvel. I demand answers.
brOTP Rhodey & Tony. Hands down. Best brOTP in the entire world. My favorite chaos duo. Super smart when they're apart, the biggest idiots in the entire world when they're together.
OTP I feel like I shouldn't have to say this, but Stony. *gestures vaguely at my ao3* Obviously
nOTP Any of the pairings that came out of CACW. Are there good ones out there? Yeah, absolutely. Are they overshadowed by the absurd amounts of bashing fics that were written just to dump on Steve whether or not he'd been romantically involved with Tony in that verse? Yeah, and I don't feel like scrolling through all of them just to locate the gems.
Random headcanon Tony learned how to play the piano from his mom. She had a grand that was kept at the mansion that moved with him to Malibu and then to the tower (he's beyond thankful at his past self for insisting on having it moved instead of leaving it in the Malibu house to sink into the ocean when it was destroyed).
Unpopular opinion My unpopular opinion about Tony for the greater MCU fandom (and non-fans) is that he's a good character who doesn't deserve all the hate he gets. For actual Tony fans? My unpopular opinion is that he has the same mentor/mentee relationship with Peter that he has with Harley and the only reason Peter's gets so much more emphasis in the fandom is because Peter had his own movie with Tony in it.
Song i associate with them Taylor Swift's The Archer
Favorite picture of them This one. He just looks so happy!

Wyllvember Day 18: OTP
A/N: This prompt just gave me the excuse to talk about Wyll and my Tav lol. FOr those that have read my other ficlets for Wyllvember, this is the Tav I have in mind in all of them, if mentioned. I didn't give my Tav a name, because although I lover her to pieces, I would rather not name drop an OC that I will likely never bring up again in a different context. Prompts are posted by @sagscrib, additionally tagging @commander-yinello WC: 782
Wyll never thought he would be able to settle down in peace, at least not since he had signed a pact with Mizora. He resigned himself to forever adventuring, forever roaming without proper home, and when he eventually died, to forever belonging to the blue devil. And although he desperately wished there was a way to change that, he came to terms with his seemingly unchangeable fate. Until he was thrown into the turbulent circumstance of having a parasite stuck to his brain. That’s when the first slivers of hope, of change began to appear.
They were subtle at first. Slight whispers of longing in his heart he attributed to fellowship, eyes following their leader's every movement, the curve of her face as she sat by the fire, that he attributed to curiosity. But the lingering touches when he helped her up, the unconscious smile when she chuckled at his stories, the fluttering of his heart when she shyly revealed a piece of her childhood, entrusting him with the memory. That was no coincidence. And so, he tried to spend more time with her. He would stay up later than usual to sit with her while on watch, to either whisper conversation or simply observe the human woman as she mended arrows or read. He couldn’t help but admire her warm eyes, the curve of her lips, the way her hands nimbly moved with practised ease as she busied themselves in the quiet of the night. That was when he first admitted to himself there may have been more to the ceaseless warmth in his chest than friendship.
When he asked the ranger to dance, her nervous smile and uncertain movements almost made him worry he overstepped despite their earlier kiss at the party, but as she accepted his hand after displaying dancing skills only taught to nobles, it was almost as if everything fell into place. He may not know more about her than the nickname, Tav, she called herself or the tidbits of their previous adventures she sometimes shared, but he knew right there and then as they looked into each other’s eyes that this was the person his heart longed for. This was the peace he dreamed about.
Later, right before they parted ways for the night, Tav pulled him closer to press one final, soft kiss to his lips, and whispered her name into the air as they parted, those golden brown eyes betraying vulnerability, and he almost couldn’t contain the waves of affection that came over him then.
Slowly, as their journey progressed, the mysterious ranger made an effort to stop being so mysterious, at least around him. Wyll felt incredibly giddy that she was dropping her walls because of him, for him. Of course, the others began learning about their leader more as well, but that was byproduct of traveling with others in such proximity. He didn’t mind. The blush that sometimes overtook those cheeks and the bashful lack of eye contact was his doing, after all. And eventually, during one of their evening cuddle sessions, he pieced together that she was the shy, socially awkward wallflower he danced with at one of the masquerades, her lovely giggles, breathtaking dancing and admissions about how sunflowers were one of their most beloved flowers leaving him with a strong enough impression that everyone else paled in comparison since that day. He made sure to ask Halsin to druidcraft him one later to give to her.
They became the subject of everyone’s teasing as well, because even though they did their best to not engage in anything lovey-dovey outside of camp, the looks, and smiles, as well as protectiveness in battle could only be described as devotion. Of  course, while in camp there were no such restrictions, and although Tav was more comfortable with being affectionate in private, she didn’t stop him from holding her close while eating or from holding her hand as they talked. According to Astarion, the pair almost make him starve himself from the pure amount of ‘tooth-rotting fluff his palate is subjected to’. And although the elf was prone to dramatics, the Blade supposes his description wasn't entirely inaccurate.
But that didn’t bother him. Because when they finally had a tavern floor all to themselves, the sweet nothings they whispered, the soft touches they bestowed upon him, the praise about his very being that rolled of their tongue almost mindlessly during one of his rougher nights was something Wyll Ravengard would cherish for the rest of his existence, whatever that may be. Because now, his peaceful fate was holding him in their arms and stroking his back absentmindedly and that was all he could ask for.

Lukadrinette and Clemmy for the ship ask game !!!!
THANK YOU HEHE 💖
Lukadrinette ✅
Tumblr media
1. What made you ship it?
Honestly? Migration! Pretty late to the party, I know. As someone who loves unconditional and overpowering devotion (romantic or platonic) between two characters, I don’t have many poly ships in general, and Wishmaker left a bad taste in my mouth. I did not want my boy Luka to constantly be the Love Square’s third wheel.
In that sense, Migration did the exact opposite of Perfection and Protection, which crushed the remnants of my interest in Adrigaminette beyond repair. It started off on the wrong (but admittedly hilarious) foot with the therapy session, and yet somehow by the end I could see Luka taking great care of these two idiots and being cared for in return. As far as I’m concerned, all three of them are in a long distance relationship by the end of the episode.
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
Lukadrien
Seriously though. I think @paracosmicat said it best when they called Luka the Love Square’s grounding force. They need his quiet strength and kindness to not explode the fucking moon.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Okay okay. Do not stab me.
… I think Lukadrinette could have been pretty toxic in S4, given the dynamics between the characters then, but that it is leagues healthier than Adrigaminette as of S5.
And yeah, I’m biased, obviously. It doesn’t change the fact that I am absolutely right.
NOW THAT I’VE BEEN CONTROVERSIAL ON MAIN. Let’s move on to my obscure ship, my beloved rarepair, the OTP amongst my OTPs.
CLEMMY ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅

1. What made you ship it?
The actual origin story is that I joined a Layton roleplay group wayyy back then, and picked up where their former Clive had left off. Keep in mind, I was just about to turn 14, which means Azran Legacy wasn’t even out yet.
AND THEN IT WAS. AND IT MADE EVERYTHING A BILLION TIMES BETTER.
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
I absolutely love the parallels and contrasts between Clive and Emmy. Both are twist antagonists, both are redeemable, both deeply care for Hershel despite having betrayed him. One is a manipulator, while the other has been used her entire life. Most importantly, one accepted the consequences of his actions, while the other ran away.
There’s just so much potential here, and the fandom has been sleeping on it for over a decade.

AS MUCH AS I COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LACK OF FELIGAMI AND SENTICOUSINS CONTENT, THERE ARE 10+ TIMES MORE WORKS FOR THEM THAN FOR CLEMMY. I WROTE TWO OF THESE. I AM DYING SQUIRTLE.
Get on it, people. I’m saying that in your own interest. The Clemmy agenda will prevail anyway — you want to be on the right side of history when it does.
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Clive is bi, but doesn’t know it because he is also demi and as such did not have any crushes before meeting his future wife.
Emmy is pan. For some reason, non-lesbian Emmy seems to piss off fans beyond belief, even though there are no canon elements to hint either way. As a lesbian myself, I am perplexed.
