Shawn’s POV
[Juliet’s POV] [Lassie’s, Vick’s & Gus’s POVs]
Shawn Spencer’s elbow swings into the glass, causing it to shatter loudly. His best friend, standing next to him, jumps. Shawn ignores him and sticks a hand through the broken window, unlocking it. He yanks the window open and climbs into the house.
“You know, you’re a hazard to society sometimes,” Gus comments, and Shawn glares at him.
“What? You are. Mainly when it’s me or Juliet or your parents, but you can be a hazard.”
“Ah suck it, Gus,” Shawn snaps, his patience is wearing thin and has been for the past week.
“You suck it.” They dissolve quickly into nonsensical bickering. Shawn can barely pay attention to what’s coming out of his mouth, let alone what’s coming out of Gus’s.
“Maybe you should prepare yourself in case what the expert said was true,” Gus says, his voice quiet.
Shawn whirls around. “She’s not dead, Gus!” he yells, his voice loud. He glares at his best friend.
Gus opens his mouth to say something, but Shawn hisses “Shut up! I think I heard my name.”
“JULES!” he shouts, and Gus elbows him in the gut.
“What if it’s the criminals?” he demands, and Shawn gives him an annoyed look.
He hears his name again and Shawn shouts her name again. It quickly turns into a twisted game of Marco Polo. Gus follows him, giving Shawn an odd look that combines annoyance, worry, and fear. Shawn ignores his best friend. It’s not Gus’s wife that’s missing, after all. He keeps going until something smacks into his back.
Shawn whirls around and a weight lifts off his chest. “JULES!” He wraps his arms around her tightly, and her hands grip his shirt.
“Juliet! You’re okay!” Gus exclaims, before elbowing Shawn in the back. “We should get out of here, right? Those guys could come back at any moment.”
“Yeah. Let’s go,” Shawn agrees. They untangle and a small yelp escapes Juliet’s lips. He freezes and gives her a concerned look. She doesn’t respond, instead anchoring an arm against him.
“Wait! My gun and badge!” she exclaims and Shawn forces himself not to roll his eyes in irritation.
“Later. We can get them later,” he says.
They leave the abandoned house through the front door, instead of the window Shawn broke earlier. Their car is parked two blocks over and there’s the roar of an SUV coming closer. Shawn swears in his head. They manage to make it two houses over, before hiding on the far side of the house.
Juliet looks between the two of them. “Did you two tell the chief where you were going?” she asks. Shawn glances down at his sneakers.
He sighs. “I’ll call her now. Tell her it’s urgent and an ambulance might be needed.”
Shawn shoves his hand into his pocket, fishing his cell phone out. He dials Chief Vick’s number.
“Vick speaking,” she says.
“Hey, Chief. It’s Shawn. We found Jules!” he says.
“Wait. You found O’Hara? How? Actually you know what, I don’t want to know. Where are you?”
Shawn rattles off the address of the house, and then suggests that Vick may want to call an ambulance. He frowns a little when he walks closer to Gus and Juliet.
“Vick’s on her way. With an ambulance. Are you okay, sweetheart?” he says, directing his question to Juliet.
“My head hurts and so does my leg. I also think they may have drugged me. I didn’t know that I’d been missing for a week,” Juliet says. Shawn’s fist clenches. Bastards, he thinks angrily, before pulling her into his arms and pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
The ambulance ride and Chief Vick’s questions are a whirlwind. He’d needed to convince the paramedics that yes, he really was her husband. He never let go of her hand.
They’re given a few forms to fill out in the waiting room of the ER. Juliet’s hand is shaking. He hates this. He hates seeing her like this. The only other time he can remember that she was this shaken was after Yin and the goddamn clock tower. At least, this time he can actually be there for her.
“Here, let me do it,” he says, and Juliet blinks at him. “Jules, I’ve known you for over a decade, and we’ve been together for like half of that. I can fill out your medical forms.” Her head comes to rest on his shoulder, watching as he fills the forms out, answering any questions he has.
It’s nearly midnight when they’re finally called into the exam room. Shawn has a few arguments with some of the doctors about his presence in the room. They only agreed to letting him stay when Juliet had asked for him to stay.
She needed ten stitches in her leg. She has a mild concussion. She is dehydrated. They’d taken some blood samples to test for drugs, mainly sedatives. The doctors’ words still rattled in his mind.
Visiting hours have long since ended, given that it’s nearly two in the morning. But Shawn still hasn’t left or been asked to leave. Maybe it’s the badge, maybe it’s not. Shawn doesn’t care. He’s not leaving. He’s not going home to an empty apartment again. He glances up from his feet to see tears rolling down her face.
“Jules?” he asks, cautiously.
“God, Shawn. It was a week. I don’t know what happened,” she whispers.
“Oh, sweetheart.”
It’s an impulsive reaction. He kicks off his sneakers, not caring where they land, and climbs into bed with her. He kisses her forehead. They have a soft kiss. It’s short and Shawn can taste the salt from the tears. He wraps himself around her, the best he can in a hospital bed.
He finds himself whispering soft nothings as she falls asleep, surprisingly quickly. Especially in comparison to after Yin had finally been defeated.
“I got you. It’s safe. I’m here. I love you, Jules.”

Sleep Asks
Who is a night owl:
Both, but Shawn more so. Juliet’s mainly up really late if she’s working a case, while Shawn could watch TV all night.
Who is a morning person:
Juliet. It’s pretty much canon that Shawn’s not a morning person. Plus, Juliet just seems like she’d handle mornings better.
Are they cuddlers:
Yes, especially with the Snuggie.
Who is the big spoon and who is the little spoon:
Shawn’s usually the big spoon to Juliet’s little spoon.
What is their favourite sleeping position:
Pretty much anything they find comfortable, from the side to the stomach. Shawn has tendency to press his face into Juliet’s shoulder when he’s asleep.
Who steals all the blankets:
Shawn. It just feels like something he would do.
What they wear to bed:
Shawn usually wears pajama pants and an old t-shirt, but if it’s really hot he’ll do boxers instead of pants. Juliet usually wears a long sleeve shirt and pajama shorts, but if it’s hot enough she’ll just wear one of Shawn’s t-shirts.
Who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt:
Shawn, without a doubt. He couldn’t fit into Juliet’s shirts, anyways. He tried once and then almost couldn’t get it off.
Who falls asleep mid-conversation:
Both of them could. It would just depend on how tired they were. Although, Shawn occasionally talks in his sleep and Juliet has a had a few interesting conversations with him. (It was Gus who first mentioned Shawn’s occasional sleep-talking and told her to roll with it because you can get some really weird and funny things out of him.)
Who wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares:
Both. They’ve seen a lot of things and Mr. Yin and Mr. Yang have left a mark on both of them.
Who accidentally punched the other in their sleep:
Both, but they’d feel really guilty about it. It would most likely happen during a nightmare as well.
Who can’t keep their hands to themself:
Shawn seems more likely. But I could see it with both of them.
