long life update - TWs in tags
It feels like it's been ages. I'm so exhausted and in a lot of physical pain. Going on two months of it being the worst it's been right after a couple of months of the best it's been. Chronic pain + grief + trying to get help from doctors who should have their licenses revoked + dealing with a shit relationship with my mom + a good, decades-long friendship ending + the ongoing disability process with the SSA + LAW FIRMS.
I'm so fucking tired. I don't remember if I updated that the appeals council decided not to review my case because the 'judge followed the law' except that he didn't. So, as it turns out, my original attorney (and he did not tell me this) before he left, wrote that if they denied me, it should go to federal district court.
I'm now working with a NY law firm to take my case to federal court because my current law firm believes it has merit, and I guess they do, too. That's how fucked the decision was, and I'm glad my initial reaction of bewilderment and anger was spot on lol
The good news is, it should only take another year! ._.
My neurologist is the worst doctor I have ever come across and I'm quite literally stuck with him with nowhere else to go. I wish him upon no one. I'm so tired of calling the SSA, getting documents to them, signing things for law firms, contacting law firms, getting no responses, and contacting them all over and over again. I am in incredible physical pain, like this actively makes my neuro stuff worse. Everything makes it worse. I have autonomic testing in a few days, and idk if I'll get through it b/c I have to stop the meds that keep me out of the ER two days prior, and it scares me.
My relationship with my mom is fractured and I don't feel like family therapy is actually helping. I had to end a friendship with someone I love and care very much about but who was growing too comfortable mistreating me and I was giving them too many passes 😞 I've known them for the better part of two decades.
It's been over seven months since my cat Isis died. I don't know how. It feels like she was here just yesterday. Yet, all the nights I've sat and talked to her and wept are all too real. I miss her more than I can say. She was my soul cat. I keep thinking about tomorrow and how she'd be so nosy getting into EVERYthing when gifts are opened at Christmas. Having to stop her, move her, laugh because she was just so n o s y and it was hilarious. And she's not gonna be here for that ever again.
I'm having a really fucking hard time tonight. It's just hitting me how god-awful this year has been and how I have a bad week to look forward to before even getting to the new year lmao I have to stop taking so many of my medications 48hrs before 1.5-2hrs of testing to see if we can find out Yet Another Thing Wrong With Me but knowing my luck it'll be 'no findings' and the mystery of why my core body temp plummets to 93.9 in the blink of an eye won't be solved until I have suffered juuuuust enough.
It never ends. Never. I want to give up. I'm so tired of doing this. I don't want to anymore. It never. fucking. ends.
I absolutely cannot say it's all been bad, though. I've met incredible, warm, welcoming, giving, kind people this year. Y'all have helped me more than you know and I'm so so so lucky to be able to call you my friends. This year has sucked for so many of us, but I want to say I'm proud of you, and I love you all very much.
My fic is gonna be printed in a hardcover zine early next year. I participated in a Big Bang for the first time and that'll also go out early next year. I'm hosting a tiny event in my tiny fandom server that I'm super excited about. I have a raffle prize to write (bagginshield !!!! SO EXCITED to revisit the og otp) and a Valentine's gift to write for another fandom.
I posted 401,000 words this year and wrote many more unfinished wips, plus a long one (90k) that I am very invested in finishing.
I painted and drew so much this year. I improved a lot, too! I got a couple of portraits printed from inprnt to see how they looked, and it was MY art, and they were GORGEOUS. I thought I would hate seeing my art professionally printed, but no! I almost cried. They looked so lovely.
My cat Lilly had health issues almost immediately following Isis's passing, but she is doing so well right now. She's blossomed into another cat, and while she's not my constant companion, she is with me so much more than she used to be. When she walks onto my desk I am to stop everything and hold her like baby in my arms until she decides that's enough (or I really need to move) lmaaao she's such a goober. My heart cat. <3
I'm not doing well right now--my MH is bad. Especially tonight. But it felt good to write the good things.
I'm sorry for my lack of replies and kinda disappearing. I'm running on fumes. I hope next year will bring physical relief so emotional relief can happen.

The very last bauble. The very last hangout. As we move towards the conclusion to it all, we've heard from Vivia about what he wants us to bear in mind. Now it's time to hear what guidance Yakou has to offer us.

Really. We're really going to spend the last hangout yet again shilling the OTP that remains mired in the exact same place it was in way back in the Chapter 2 rooftop epilogue?
The answer, Yakou, is that it's not. Things are not going. There's been lots of blushing and lots of awkward pauses but nobody has said or done a single thing yet because writers despise romance despite how hard they try to inject it into their stories.
Ooh, Yuma doesn't know but that is a painful question.

Now we're getting to the meat of it. I expected Yakou to give a counterargument to Vivia, but they seem to be on the same page.
Vivia asks, "Is it always right to reveal a cruel truth?"
Yakou says, "You need to put Kurumi's wellbeing first."
These both feel like things that are going to be important for Yuma to carry with him in the final confrontation with Makoto. Which is why the two baubles were put here.
It's not, and I hate that you think that. This exact mindset, that men only exist for women and nothing else, is a major contributing factor to toxic masculinity.
This conversation must be, like, right before Chapter 5. Yakou's getting ready to carry out Huesca's murder. That's why he's trying to connect with Yuma like this.
Yakou Furiou. I didn't think very highly of him when I met him. But then I got to know him and see new sides to his personality. And through that journey, I was able to learn that I was overestimating him and adjust my opinion even lower.
I don't like Yakou on a personal level. I don't hold his drinking or his grief against him. He's a damaged man who's been through some trauma. But he's also a frequent obstacle who has gross opinions and mostly gets in the way.
Nonetheless, I still stand behind him 100% in the murder of Dr. Huesca. Like I said before, I'm not fond of Yakou the Detective but I adore Yakou the Murderer. That we were all able to pull together and carry off the Crime of the Century to avenge Yakou's wife and assassinate the most well-guarded man in Kanai Ward?
Yeah. I'm proud of that. We did it. Huesca isn't Yakou's victim. He's our victim. We made this happen for Yakou and I have no regrets about it. I'd kill Huesca again if Yuma would let me. Shove him over that railing and let him be a malfunctioning immortal in a pit at the bottom of the secret lab.
Yakou isn't someone I would want to hang out with for an evening. But I'm glad he found his closure, even if this was the only way he could.

Chapter 13 and 14 have me reeling omg ma'am! 😭 The fluff 💗 the twists😱 the smut 🥵 We been blessed! I love how Tamlin is finally getting his healing arc/found family/Lucien romance because the way you write our boy is so cuteeeee!!! The flashbacks were adorable, Lucien is so handsome and adorable and I need both of them to be happy and cherished forever. Goodbye SJM canon this is what's canon for me now!
Few questions tho, given that you've named all the other 'nameless' characters like the Vanserra family, Tamlin's family, and other secondary characters is there are a reason why you haven't named Rhysand's family? Like is it because you're looking for a fitting name or a story reason?
Also, given that the new Dusk Court is seemingly a mix of Greece and Japan do you have headcannons for the other courts? What would Spring, Autumn or Winter be?
Finally I can't wait to see more of the Njght Court rebellion. After the whole Dusk reveal I'm excited to see their reactions and maybe backstory, and them with the Valkyries because Gwyn and Lunara would be such a cute friendship. Also Grim is best boy I love this man he's had one scene and now I need a prequel we stan himbo dad warrior in this house! He's what Cassian should've been!
Speaking of, Nesta needs to come back and read everyone for filth! Book 2 might be all about her but she so fun to read here too, especially as Tam's sister (they'd be cute as a ship too but platonic siblings Nestlin is life)

Okay so to answer your questions, the reason I haven't named Rhysand's family (or the other bat boys family) is less interesting that twist a or story and has more to do with spite. So I have zero intention of naming any of those characters because I know SJM would grant them names before the Acheron parents or the Vanserras or any other more important character. So no, I'm just a petty spiteful slug in that case. Sorry to disappoint.
Glad to hear you cought the Greece/Japan mix invented for Dusk. Given that Night seems to be based on Greece along with Middle East at least from what little world building we were shown I thought it would be cool to have them have Greek influence due to Night's colonization but also retain the Japanese inspired culture and aesthetic that was theirs before their fall. I have some ideas for the other courts but these are just headcanons.

So thank him for the best boy and best himbo. Cassian's got nothing on the best dilf!
Nesta too will get more page time, I'm just keeping from adding too much before her own book, while her healing is mostly happening offscreen and she will be stable by the time of book 2 girlie will have stuff to deal with later that I need to put off for now, but do expect her to get a good moment along with the rest of the squad. When I saw this post and read 'not everyone has OTPs' I laughed and shouted COULDN'T BE ME lol. But currently I'm into TaiyoxMutsumi from Mission Yozakura Family, I was following this manga since it started almost and I'm very excited that the anime is finally airing! I just wish more people were watching it 🥹 I also recently started catching up to The Apothecary Diaries so MaomaoxJinshi is another ship on my mind, And even though Sousou no Frieren has ended, my obsession with StarkxFern is still going strong.
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Do I drop the entire list or I think everyone knows that most of the Tyson, Hilary ships apart from TyHil are my notps. But I'm mostly okay with TyKa or TyRei or HilaryxEmily or HilaryxMao in those if I absolutely have to sorta scenarios, but TysonxTala and HiromixMing-ming are the two ships that I'm just never going to like, no particular reason too lol but they're not the vibes for me.

HAVE I?? Idk I think other people would have to judge just how crack-y my content is by the normal crack standards 😂 Mimato was considered a crack ship for the longest time in the fandom so I guess a lot of my contributions can be considered crack lol. Though there is one Bleach fanfic I wrote, which was definitely intended as crack, where it's a high school AU and Gin is the school's guidance counsellor and well, he doesn't really take his job as seriously as one would hope 🤣
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
VOLTRON. I watched the first two seasons in one sitting almost, and then I came online and met the fandom and I noped out of there pretty quick. It's difficult to explain why tho...like it was an experience for sure and I'm just very glad that the fandom has quieted down now (or maybe I just became much better at blocking things).

Speaking of TyHil, because whenever am I not I have this perfect hate at first sight sort of meet cute planned for them in my Regency Era AU setting, and I'm hoping that when the new season of Bridgerton rolls around right in the middle of Mayblade, I feel inspired to write something that I can post. Not to give away too much but also wanting to rant about it at the same time, basically Tyson and Hilary and first meet on a train and their interaction isn't very nice. Later they end up travelling on the same ship to some other country in Europe which I haven't decided yet, most likely France and are dragged together for meals and stuff by others. Hilary writes mystery novels under a male pen name and one of the scenes that I've given a lot of thought about is how Tyson badmouths her books over dinner one night, and she ends up defending it to the point where her identity is revealed. By the time they're getting off the ship, Tyson starts to feel guilty about his behaviour and wants to apologise but she keeps getting away, and thus begins the never-ending game of chase.

Aw, thanks, Anon — that's very sweet! I've definitely been having fun with the show, and with this ship in particular, and I'm glad you've enjoyed all my (occasionally self-indulgent) posts!
If you're asking about the moment when Olek and Ling Yi meet in 1x03, then, no, I don't think he fell in love with her at first sight.
I think he was already in love with her.
I mean, look at this expression, the one he makes right after she tells him her name. He blinks, and you can just see a part of him go, "Oh, it's you." This is a look of recognition.
Of course, he doesn't know where he knows her from, only that he somehow does. And wherever that place was, it was somewhere that he loved her.
The only thing to really compare it to is when you have a dream about a person (an acquaintance or someone you don't know all that well), and in the dream something happens between the two of you and you forge a connection (often romantic, but not always). When you wake up, you know that it was only a dream — none of it was real —but it doesn't stop the traces of those feelings from lingering.
I think that's what Olek is experiencing in this moment: he doesn't know this girl, they've only just met, but that doesn't explain why he suddenly feels like he does know her, why he'll reach out his hand to her and ask her to come with him, just so that he won't have to watch her disappear from his life just as quickly as she arrived.

But, like, tell me about Uta. Do you self-ship with her? Do you have an OTP for her? What's your favoritest head canon for her? Do you have a favorite fic you've wrote with her in it? Or maybe one someone else has.

Oh my god yes!! Sorry this took me until today to respond to, I love any opportunity to talk about my favorite girl. 🥰
I do self-ship with her, both solo (UtaWurm) and poly with Sanji (lovingly referred to as the Heartthrob Trio <3). But I do also ship her almost exclusively with Perona! (I'm exploring some other ships with her as well, but this one if definitely an OTP)
I have a few head canons for her!
Shanks did not style her hair as a kid, absolutely no way. I think that job went to Beckmann!
Uta is bi (like most of my faves) but she definitely is very soft for the ladies, particularly a certain cute pink goth girl. When it comes to how Perona and Uta met, sometimes I like to think it's because of Shanks and Mihawk's... connection. Other times, I like to think Perona has always been a fan of Uta's and just fell hard for her favorite idol! If I had to assign a song to PeroUta, I'd choose Monster by King Princess. (if you're a fan of Adventure Time, you should check out the Distant Lands episode called Obsidian too)
Uta not only sings, she also plays piano and a little guitar as well! If you've ever seen the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, there's this scene where Audrey Hepburn is playing guitar and singing a ballad in her apartment window and it makes me think of Uta every time.
If you thought the ASL bros were a menace, add Uta to the mix for EXTRA shenanigans. She can turn on the charm and the cutesy eyes and create the perfect distraction for the brothers to take a bunch of food and treasure!
Her favorite fruit is strawberries, favorite flower is peony, favorite animal is a rabbit, and she always has a tea for every occasion. She's gotta keep her voice in tip top shape after all!
How did I pull her? She came across me playing music and singing and she decided to sit and play with me. She's very smooth... Sanji also had MAJOR heart eyes for her but could tell I felt a type of way about her, so he backed off until we became an item (she thinks he's a lot but in a cute and slightly pathetic way)
As for fic recommendations, I'm always on the lookout since her tag is pretty barren in that regard. I HIGHLY encourage you to check out my lovely friend @starblazer124 's works! For Family, It's Worth the Fight keeps me up at night. I'll also pitch my fic Sleepy Eyes as well, it's short and very sweet :)

Hmmmmmm, maybe Talia. I didn't really acknowledge her much at first when I was still getting deeper into Batfamily stuff (not on purpose, just naturally) and when I finally started doing it and found out the crazy things she does in canon, I was like "Omgg why does she do this kind of stuff??? That's messed up!!" Lol, but then because of the knowledgeable side of the fandom, who does care about her, always making defensive posts that correctly inform who she's truly supposed to be and how she actually was like as a character before being heavily villainized nowadays, I began learning she's not an evil or insane person at all originally and is actually far much better than how she is portrayed in modern content by writers. So because of that, I've come to genuinely love and appreciate her character a lot now and she deserves so much justice for all the hate she has to constantly go through with most writers and fans who dislike her

Do you ever have Fates thoughts?
Oooh i do sometimes ! It was my first FE game, too !
I was admittedly too young to give much thought to the themes and details of Fates like I do those of Three Houses. I played Birthright while my sis played Conquest, and I've never seen Revelation edited in France but i know what goes on there as well- so my experience of the game is mostly shaped by playing Birthright and watching what was going on my sister's screen at the same time, and later on by the fandom.
Off the top of my mind, here are some of my thoughts:
Revelation really is the Golden Route, and i'm glad we have it. If i were Corrin though, I would've chosen Nohr- they met the Hoshidan side of their family just a few hours before and don't know a damn thing about them (I'm talking purely personal bonds here and not politics).
Sometimes, i have characters i fall head-over-heels for. Sometimes, i learn slowly to love a character. Sometimes... i'm just totally indifferent to a character, and no amount of propaganda will make me give a damn about them. There is absolutely no reason for this to happen, it just is. For that reason, I've never been able to give a fuck about Hinoka, even though i know she's objectively great. xD
Similarly, I have never really liked Azura ? I know how important she is to the plot, and how nice she is - but she just never did it for me. xD which is a bit sad but meh. I'm always keeping an open mind and I love seeing others enjoy her properly !
My real blorbo from Fates tho was Takumi. As a general rule I loved that the focus of the game was on siblings relationships, which are very important to me- but Takumi stood out because he was bitter and angry but he had room to grow and to learn to be kind. Later on, my otp for the game became Leokumi because their enemies to friends to lovers dynamic actively needs them to work on their respective biases, and learn to appreciate and respect both their common points and differences.
There are two versions of Lost In Thoughts All Alone is in my Hresvelg siblings playlist because of course there are.
Hana/Silas is the most precious ship.
They are only outshone by five different versions of The Edge Of Dawn.

I dunno if I'm supposed to go on anon for the ask game, but...
The way you have impacted me the most as an artist is you helped me get over a lot of my old-fashioned Fandom rules, and get into writing LGBT characters at all. I dare not write "gay" or accept gay OTPs growing up, lest my family find out about it. It was risqué and beyond what I felt I was allowed to do. Here my to-be best friend crashes into my life saying "Marth x Roy!" And at first, it put me off. I was a purist. "But Marth has Sheeda and who has a fling while in a crossover game?!" But listening to you and reading your work and hanging out with you, I got it. Who cares what the rules are, shipping is fun!! Crackships, poly ships, selfships, all the ships!
And now I write all sorts of relationships, and the only rule is we don't involve minors.
You helped me open my mind as a creator, sis. Thank you! :3
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 AAAAAA SIS. I'm so glad that I inspired and helped you in your writing and your views! I was skeptical of the LGBT+ too when I was a kid. Reading a fic where Shadow and Sonic kiss, I thought "but they're both dudes though?" But then I grew to love it, and I fell in love with my LGBTQIA+ ships ❤️
I also wanted to thank you for inspiring me to write more often, and encouraging me when I first played FFI! I probably would still prefer writing canon characters now if I hadn't met you, haha!
And even though Marth x Roy is no longer around in a way, I'll never forget everything they had done for me when I was a teen and now. I'm sure Drusus x Keme would make them proud now that Marroy stepped down as Main Muse!
