Any HCs for Beta versions of our main 3 OTPs ;)? Maybe Vinira too, I’m interested in what you think the beta versions of the ships would be like

I've been putting this question off a bit because I honestly don't think a bunch about the Beta's themselves. Not that the Beta's aren't cool, but I've alway's been against the super violent, toxic form of Beta's that people seem to like. I prefer when the Beta's are more... human, for lack of a better word. Like, they're less serial killers and more sorta grungy teens with good hearts but not always the best upbringings.

So, I do have a couple of ideas for them, so I’ll write them down and hopefully they’re any good.

LUMITY: As cute a couple as they are in the show, though with a few twists.

Amity is very much an arsonist. Not a joke, just a fact. She loves summoning fire whenever she can, but especially to burn lovely messages to Luz in the sky or on tree’s. Luz find’s it a bit weird but so long as Amity doesn’t use it on people Luz finds it more quirky then horrifying.

Both Luz and Amity are still Azura nerds, even if they don’t openly discuss it as much. Despite Azura Book Club essentially dissolving into a way for Luz and Amity to have a private classroom to kiss in, they still do spend some time there discussing wacky theories, and both girls still dress up and go to con’s together whenever they can.

Amity and Luz like to make the Grom tree a place they go whenever things get stressful. Whenever Amity gets into a fight with her mom or Luz is feeling down or whatever, they always can just text their partner “Meet me at the tree please” and they’ll both be there within 15 minutes. Sometimes they chat about whatever is going on, sometimes they joke about other stuff, and sometimes they’ll just lean on one another, trying to get comfortable enough to just sleep away their troubles.

While both girls are still soft and sweet as their normal counterparts, if not a bit older and sarcastic, hurting the other will DEFINETLY get you to see just how the Beta’s got so associated with psychopathic mayhem and a disregard for human life.

SKARLOW: Just the cutest pair ever to have existed ever, now more grown up.

After over a decade of friendship, Skara and Boscha had a big, messy fight in the cafeteria, finally ending it. While Boscha will always say it was because Skara said Hexside’s Banshee’s were lame, the actual reason was because Skara had enough of Boscha belittling her and being a bully. When the two girls were finished, Skara apologized to Willow before collapsing from exhaustion. Willow was so shocked and impressed it planted the seed’s of her infatuation.

Eventually, Skara and Willow became friends, and after a while, Skara and Willow had a sleepover. Willow, laying next to a (supposedly) sleeping Skara, admits her feelings in an attempt to get it off her chest. The problem? Skara’s not asleep, and Skara’s so shocked and infatuated herself that all she can do is jump out of her skin and scream ”WHAT!?” Thankfully, shortly after, Skara was able to come enough to her senses that she admits that she likes Willow too.

Willow’s a lot more openly tough, a bit more hardened, so she stand’s stronger and able to push her enemies away with a single stare. But Skara is still a bubbly cutie, and she loves to hang around Willow’s arm, often breaking through Willow’s façade and leading the Plant Witch to laugh and kiss her girlfriend’s forehead often.

The two girls are still in the Entrails, and they love to play Flyer Derby still, often being the top scorers and flaunting their relationship in front of their enemies with kisses after every time they score (which is good because they both score a lot).

GOLDRIC: A pair of Bad but Sad and Romantic Boys

Like with Skarlow, Hunter likes to stand tall and be intimidating, and Ed likes to break his façade. The main difference is that while Willow will laugh it off, Hunter just get’s INCREDIBLY flustered, especially when Ed hugs him from behind, or by kissing his hand whenever he see’s him, which flusters Hunter to no end.

Flapjack likes Ed a lot, asking Hunter when they’re getting married whenever Ed brings the little birdie specially made Palisman Seed.

Thankfully, Hunter has his own version of this in the form of Alador. He and Alador get along surprisingly well, Hunter even learning a little of Alador’s abomination tech to try and use it himself. Alador see’s him as another son, and like Flapjack, asks Edric when they’re getting married, which Hunter likes to tease him about.

Ed often likes to be overly dramatic in texts to get Hunter to come by quickly. Not by lying about dangers or whatever, but by simply using all caps in texts. For instance, he’ll go “BABY, COME QUICK!” and once Hunter runs to Ed, Ed just missed him a little. It can be a touch annoying, but a quick peck from Ed get’s Hunter ok again.

BONUS VINERA: The Most Lesbian pair of Lesbians to Ever Lesbian.

Viney and Emira met at an animal shelter Viney volunteered at. Em just went with Ed on his insistence to grab as much food for Batric as possible. But, when Em saw Viney for the first time, she immediately knew it was love and signed up to volunteer as often as possible. Thankfully, Viney always did the same, so they spent time with each other often. Em often stumbled and couldn’t hide her obvious crush, though Viney herself didn’t realize it until a few weeks in. After that, Viney asked Em on a date, which was enough for Em to collapse onto the floor holding a baby gryphon, screaming into its feathers in joy. Then, she simply said ‘Sure.’

Viney herself is an adventurous sort, and loves to travel the Isles for dates. Em was at first a bit nervous about the whole ‘Going to random places across the Isles’ thing, but quickly grew to love it, and even encouraged it (only partly because Viney has an incredibly cute adventure outfits).

Puddles and Em get along incredibly well, and Em is the only person outside of Viney who’s able to fly them, which is part of the reason Viney started to fall in love with her.

Apologies if this doesn’t really fit the ‘Beta’ characteristics and devolved into more normal TOH headcannons, but I hope you still enjoyed!

Fictional Character Ask: Scooter?

Favorite thing about them: His innocence and enthusiasm, whether in his classic Muppet Show incarnation as a theatre "gofer"/stage manager with dreams of stardom, or in Muppet Babies where he's an adorable child-prodigy computer nerd.

Least favorite thing about them: Well, in the original Muppet Show, at least, he can be manipulative at times, sucking up to people or using his uncle's status as the theatre owner to get his way. Although of course that's funny.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I enjoy theatre and performing.

*Like his Muppet Babies incarnation, I was "gifted" and a bit of a nerd as a child.

*I look good in green.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I've never worked in professional theatre.

*I don't have red hair or yellow-orange skin.

*I don't wear glasses.

Random headcanon: I don't remember if he's ever shown interest in a girl or not... but if not, then he's gay. Just like his original puppeteer, the late Richard Hunt, who based him on his own teenage self.

Unpopular opinion: I sometimes feel a little torn about whether or not he should have been brought back or permanently retired after Richard Hunt's death. Overall, I'm glad he came back, because he's always been one of the essential Muppets. But I also once read that Hunt requested that Scooter be retired, because the character was so closely tied to him that he didn't want anyone else to perform him. Now I don't know if that was true or just a rumor, but if it was true, then it seems a bit tasteless to ignore a man's dying wish just because we like the character.

favorite thing about them

he's my most favoritest guy. i love him. if like .03% of the things that had happened to him happened to me i'd be out there murdering bitches or something and he's still just out here being a nice friendly guy who tries his best for the ship and for other people. like sometimes they do a rly good job of making it clear that there's this very deep well of resolve to him and he is an incredibly hard person to break despite experiencing the horrors so so so often. BUT i also love it when he's unhinged like he absolutely deserves to get to go off the rails sometimes. and i like it when he's making little petty comments he deserves that too.

least favorite thing about them

i mean we all know this but he's SO fucked over by the writers/showrunners. there's literally no reason for the no promotion/left out of major storylines/frequently sidelined in favor of other characters deal except some like. racist bullshit. writers will be like "well we just don't think he's an interesting character" bitch then make him interesting lol that's your job.

brOTP

harry and b'elanna literally the single most important dynamic in the show to me. every episode that they don't have a scene together i think about committing unfathomable acts of violence. i really enjoy that they genuinely feel like friends who care tremendously about each other (although i wish we saw them hanging out more off duty or in the mess hall or whatever).

also like idk if it's a brotp because they're not like Bros but the harry and janeway dynamic makes me feel uhh vaguely insane. now that you're here someone can understand what i mean when i say it's kind of the inverse of picard and wesley in a lot of ways lmao.

OTP

honestly i cannot deny the weird gay thing he and tom have going on. with tom and b'elanna i can be like yeah she deserves better but a) he's usually better to harry than b'elanna because the writers don't seem to know how to write romantic storylines without some bullshit and b) it lowkey doesn't matter if harry deserves better because regardless of my opinions they just Do Have a weird and compelling fucked up gay thing. the chute literally exists.

also my beloved friend @aberfaeth who was my source of voy knowledge before i started watching voy is a ptk enthusiast and i like. very much see that in some arrangement i like whatever they've all got going on

uhhh. hm. i dont know that i have one in terms of things that people actually ship? i am very not fond of the show's trend of giving him like tall blonde traditionally (western) beautiful women as like short term love interests that we're clearly supposed to assume he has absolutely no chance with because he's a lame nerd. in a vacuum him always going for like women that fit a specific mold of Hot Girl that he basically never actually has chemistry with would give comphet but i do think in this case it's far more representative of, again, the racist bullshit and it being very clear that they don't see him as being a viable romantic option.

Usually I consider it safe to "post cringe" on tumblr because I've literally advertised my 70k word dipper pines x dib membrane fanfiction on here without any hate but I feel this one is going to cause at least one person to call me ableist or lesbophobic or chronically online.

Can I be honest with y'all? During the first season of the owl house and a few episodes into the second, I didn't like lumity.

I feel like a lot of y'all were shipping it from the viewpoint of relating to Amity but I'd always related to Luz more, and as an Ex Troubled Kid rather than an Ex Gifted Kid it felt kind of... weird? Like, as an Ex Troubled Kid, the Amities of the world weren't falling madly in love with me: they were bullying me. Like, actually, legit, BULLYING me.

I didn't like it AT FIRST (keyword: at first) because it felt like just dipcifica all over again: sometimes snarky but good-natured nerd is absolutely tormented by a rich girl significantly more privileged than them and the moment they get along, apparently that's romantic? :?

But it was mid season two that made me completely flip the switch and lumity is one of my OTPs now. I was a "mean" kid around Luz and Amity's age in the way the adults hated. (screeched or yelled at people or made Autism Noises at them.) Meanwhile, the kids the adults in my life loved were being mean in the way Amity was in the first season.

The difference was that they meant it and they enjoyed it. I was really tired of "but her parents made her do it!!1" excuse for a while but then I realized Amity didn't like being a rude person. I was just so used to all the rich bullies in my life enjoying it.

And that's what flipped that switch: I love Lumity now because Luz didn't "fix" Amity: she's what made Amity realize she can let go of what's causing her to act the way she does, which is a plot line I can relate to much more.

What I like about them

shes so very optimistic and kind and genuinely wants to help people! she's very enthusiastic about everything it's sweet

What I dislike about them

hmmm. this was more of a S1 thing but I guess when she would just. S1 Luz was more assertive which is something I miss a little bit but also sometimes it did not work out well for her. im gonna elaborate on this in a second

Favourite moment

i loved Camila comforting Luz and then her realizing what she Actually wants with stringbean it's so sweet

Least favourite moment

S1 Ep17 where she pushes willow into having a grudgby match with boscha despite willow being extremely uncomfy with it. like yeah sure it worked out but still. this is also ties into her being more assertive? I don't think assertive is the right word here but kind of just disregarding others feeling sometimes for her. She grows out of this though which was kind of the whole point of the episode so

A situation with this character that I want to see explored more

i wish that there was like. more conflict with the human realm and her mom? like in her eyes her mom sent her away to camp and then when she came back she was "fixed" and her mom didn't even notice anything was wrong until Luz told her she she had been replaced like. I feel like that would fuck a kid up a little bit. add that to her feeling like she shouldn't be upset bc A. She offered her home to Vee and B. vee had it worse then her so she has no right to feel upset!! but like. I have a lot of thoughts on this concept

An interesting AU for this character

umm hmmm. i have lots of toh aus. ive even written a fic about one! uhhh in general i have my reverse au but a good one for her specifically...

not really an au but i think it would have been cool if there was an episode in S1 where Luz had to go back to the human realm for one reason. Maybe she wanted her laptop/phone charger or maybe she was showing Gus around or something. I know she wanted to stay in the BI but I feel like the portal could have been used more

Why I like them

I love that she's a socially anxious tall nerd, and I also love that people can kind of find her off-putting initially-- she's not being scary, she's watching you while being shy in the background! I feel like it'd be interesting if she ever had the chance to interact with Kanae.

Why I don’t

Hmmm. I like that she has the opportunity to branch out beyond the apartment trio and interact with other characters, but I feel like the Ayaka friendship goes too far into comedy sometimes. That's more a flaw of writing than it is of her though?

Favorite episode (scene if movie)

Man it's been a long time since I've rewatched See You Tomorrow. Anything from her in there would fit.

Favorite season/movie

The aforementioned See You Tomorrow is just really good in general. I still believe it would make for a good spinoff manga.

Favorite line

"I end up daydreaming a lot during class. But it seems I have a serious expression on my face while doing it, so I never get caught."

This is such a damn mood, I love her. Also I love the trope of the serious-looking character actually having their head in the clouds.

The Apartment trio B) How can you not love them all together? They're great and balance each other out. Mito keeps everything in control, Seika and Leila keep Mito down to earth. They can bring out the best and sometimes even the worst in each other, but their misunderstandings can be worked through to make their bonds better in the end.

Head Canon

The Shadowhunter Chronicles

M/F OTP: there are others I really like or love in a more normal way, but Emma/Julian Will/Tessa and Jem/Tessa are the ones that hit on another level for me emotionally, I’m clinically insane about them. Also it’s a bit hilarious to think about, since this was formative media for me (I first read TID in late elementary/middle school and TDA as they were coming out in high school) how my taste in ships generally speaking was shaped… like if you look at pairings I gravitate towards in other fandoms since there are def patterns xd. The impact!

Other M/F ships I have love for (including this category because ik i don’t talk about them as much and in another fandom where I had less dynamics I’m super fond of to choose from I could have placed them in that first category think of them as like second tier Otp’s for me ): Mark/Cristina, James/Cordelia, Simon/Isabelle (last one also was formative they were thee hot girl/soft boy nerd ship to me in middle school. But it has been a while so unsure if they’d hit the same on reread, they are the tmi couple I would most like to see in the better in black collection though!)

M/M OTP: Jem/Will! And then follow up Kit/Ty Surefire ways to get me invested in a ship: they do necromancy together, meet cute with a knife to the throat, they break up without ever dating. Triple check.

F/F OTP: along those lines it’s Lucie x Grace literally the main reason I want to reread TLH (well I do also just want to see how it reads back to back and not broken up and I have other reasons but like. Those are less important) is to be able to properly write fic about them, like it genuinely pisses me off this fandom is so boring and tasteless I can’t believe I actually miss the legacies fandom they were annoying as hell but at least they understood that when women do dark magic together it’s polite to write detailed analysis of how gay they are 😭. The way I know cc has seen Buffy too like flop. Also it just fits archetypes of antagonistic femslash I tend to love in general see: Julia/Marina Aria/Alison Elena/Rebekah and more

OT3: Herongraystairs and then Kierarktina

Friendship OTP: Tessa & Magnus + Will & Magnus! And for familial relationships I adore all The Blackthorn siblings in TDA and their dynamics but especially Julian and Mark’s relationship is v compelling to me and I also love Cordelia and Alastair’s relationship v much it was my favorite overall development in TLH. And then for psuedo familial dynamics I Love Charlotte’s relationships with Tessa Jem Will and Jessamine. her relationship with Jem might be my softest spot overall especially because they have moments in CP2 that make me go 🥺 but as a documented Tessa lover I adore how having Charlotte as a mentor figure effects her arc. So those are my favorites Ik I failed at picking just one. Oh I also adore Emma and Cristina’s friendship although I also sometimes ship them romantically

Canon OTP: Blackstairs Wessa Jessa like I said

Crackship OTP: what even counts as crackship? I will admit that during my CP reread I did look up how many Will/Magnus fics there are on ao3 although I did not read them (there are 12 for inquiring minds).

Anti-OTP: The worst ship to me is Jordan/Maia but it’s been a long time so the vitriol has worn off and I don’t have another solid notp besides them but the other canon pairings I’m #unimpressed with are Clace Ghostwriter and Gracetopher … Lucie/Jesse probably irks me the most these days because I actually want to like them because the concept is so good but the execution falls flat for me and I really like Lucie and want someone more interesting for her (like Grace lol.)

Community

M/F OTP: ultimately when I’m actually watching the show it’s Jeff/Britta love their emmaxknightleycore vibes. But I did get really into Abed x Annie at one point and even wrote some fic about it over quarantine (when I first got into Comm) so I have a soft spot for that concept too

M/M OTP: Troy/Abed. They of course are The otp of the show.

A snowy night outside the apartment while they're both inside, sitting on the living room couch, cuddling eachother underneath a nice warm blanket, watching their favorite movie while drinking hot cocoa filled with marshmallows and smashed up pieces of candy cane

8. What happens if the other gets sick?

When MJ gets sick, Peter will be by her side, ready with whatever she needs when she needs it. Hot warm soup? Check. Extra pillows and blankets to keep her comfortable while she rests? Check. A cold towel to keep her burning forehead feeling cool? Check. Tissues for her runny nose? Check. "A very loving, very handsome and very awesome boyfriend keeping her company until she gets better?" Check.

And whenever Peter gets sick, MJ will make sure he stays home to rest until she knows that he feels well enough to go back out to take care of business with the criminals out there, cause as a loving girlfriend, she can't just have her sick boyfriend running around out there fighting criminals while feeling unwell like it's nothing, so she makes sure that he gets his rest and energy. She will also do the same that he does for her while he's getting better

At first Peter wasn't completely on board with having kids, due to having such a dangerous and busy lifestyle as a hero of New York City, it was MJ who had mostly desired this thought while being married to Peter for three years. She adored the idea of growing a loving family with the man she loved. They've had many difficult discussions with eachother before about starting one, but it was hard for Peter to actually take that next step in their marriage. Peter did want to be a Father someday, he really did...he was just too terrified of what he could lose if he ever did have them.

Though, after some time and a lot of hard thinking, wanting to overcome his fear of getting hurt so that he could be happy with his wife and future kids, he had finally decided to take that next big step in his marriage with Mary Jane

So after a year, they finally had a baby girl named May Parker and a second daughter named Anna-May Parker two years after. They are a happy family.

10. Describe their first date

Peter and MJ were both just 16 years old when they had their first date, it was also around the time Peter had gotten his first part time job delivering pizza's so that he could save up for their date. They both went out to eat at Applebee's and were having a great time with eachother, chatting and laughing together about things as they both ate their delicious meals. Unfortunately though, their date was soon disrupted by an attack from the Green Goblin at the place, causing chaos for them and everyone else in there. So as usual when it came to situations like this, Peter was forced to to leave MJ behind to run away safely with the rest of the crowd, while he went to go suit up and stop the Green goblin.

14. How do their personalities compliment eachother? Do they clash?

MJ is a fun, outgoing girl who makes Peter a more confident person and Peter brings MJ joy with his kind and humorous personality

22. What reminds them both of eachother?

On special days or just to surprise her, Peter will always get MJ Hydrangea flowers since he knows that she loves them very much. So he's always reminded of her whenever he sees them behind flower shop windows when swinging (or walking) by them in New York

The song Riptide reminds him of MJ

Musicals remind him of MJ too, since she loves to be on stage and loves singing

There are these strawberry cupcakes that are sold at a nearby bakery that reminds MJ of Peter a lot since he loves them very much, so MJ will sometimes get them for him as a surprise

MJ has an old oversized, blue, space hoodie that Peter let her "borrow" back in highschool, she's always reminded of him whenever she wears it

Sometimes little random spiders will also remind her of Peter as well

Apritello Express Evidences, part 1

Greetings, Apritello enthusiasts and attention! Here comes a loong post is written by totally nerd. You've been warned. Here we go.

The thing is that Apritello is a double-edged sword. The series shows us established friendship of these two, give us a lot of content with them. We can see development of relationship through interaction between the characters, their reaction about the situations they are put in. We can sense their synergy and bound through the show.

Donnie and April have incredible chemistry, and both options, brotp and otp seems fine to me.

But let me tell you why I ship them.

Apritello is the kind of pairings, which consists of small details, hints, that's hidden, but if you're sharp and attentive one, you will notice that. Apritello has a strong foundation: the best friends trope.

And from the very beginning, it works as planned.

When I start watching show, I could say that April and Donnie are best friends. It is worth noting that April is like an older sister to the other brothers, more of a sisterly figure than a friend, but with Donnie she behaves somewhat differently, namely, as best friend. Obviously, she sets him apart from his brothers, although girl tries to pay attention to all of them equally. And Donnie behaves as well.

Dee's battle shell designs for April needs as well as his. His shell transform into comfy spot for taking ride for April. Special and only for her. Because his bros are not supposed to use it (at least, he carries no one on his back), Donnie carries them by his techno-bó or his limbs.

This tiny detail shows his special treatment to her. April is a very, very special occasion to D. Don does care about her comfort, he accept the way she is. Donatello does not try to prevent her from participating in their affairs because he respects her decisions and is pleased that April can be shoulder to shoulder with him.

D is glad to be at her service.

Yeah, Dee's still playing cool, he has image to perform as tough and coolheaded guy. So Don doesn't show his intentions, interest and feeling to other people (he's tryin', but fails). Because his actions matter. They are always small, hidden, but meaningful.

April, in return, trusts Dee and depends on his tech, even knowing what his inventions are the opposite of success (usually).

Go on. Look at Donnie's facial expressions and body language when April is near.

Donnie seems more relaxed when she's around, happier. His emotional response is always different from his brothers ones.

Oh, and look, he wanted to be first to give her a high three.

They worry about each other. Look at Don. He does worry about her way more than his brothers. Yeah, they all want to protect her, but Donnie is more expressive.

Mayham has no particular sympathy for the brothers: he is afraid of Raph and behaves aggressively, he is indifferent to Leo and Mikey. Mayham immediately takes a liking to April. And then the details come back: he let Donnie touch his neck. The most vulnerable place for any living creation, for a second. Let him to study an important vial without any hesitation. Mayham depends on April trust for Donnie. When everything goes wrong for Don, the little doggie comes to his rescue, just as April would have done. Is the hint transparent enough?

We can see links with "A mystic library", wherе Donnie begins to look for solutions to save April's pet. Yes, this may seem like his next leap, "sit down, I'm smart, and now I'll solve all the problems, watch and learn," but Don says one phrase that opens up the veil of the second plan, what happens behind the scenes. "My illiteral colleagues and I was conducting a mustic research, with a life of the beloved pet, hanging in a bounce".

Strange wording, Donatello. Beloved pet? Not yours, as we can see. I can say, that everything in this sentence is true, but Donnie and Mayham has something more.

Continue. Next episode "Origami tsunami". Interactions are kept to a minimum, as April herself appears for a maximum of 5 minutes in the series itself. But devil is always in the details, dear friends.

When April was attacked and hung up, the only one who excitedly called out to her was Donny. Raph is furious that the thieves have escaped, Leo is frustrated that their plan has failed, and Mikey is worried about the salami.

Yeah, we didn't see his worries about her when she fell, because Donnie is on the mission and must be coolheaded turtle, and second, he's calm because now April life is safe and sound, out of the danger.

Dear passangers, Apritello Express arrives to the next station - episode "War and Pizza".

Bare facts:

1. April has Donnie's number on an emergency call.

2. "Anything for you"

3. Donnie is the reason why Alberto knows April's name.

No one calles April by her name (except for Donnie, while phone call, but Alberto wasn't nearby) it was "Captain O'Neil" by her chief, her badge seems blank. And yeah, you can say, that's just economy of budget, but I assure you: in the first episode we were shown the name of the delivery guy. The animators were not lazy bones and wrore "Stewart" on his badge. So if something isn't there, then it either shouldn't be there, or it really isn't, that's how this show works.

So, the reason explained in the episode. When Al has short circuit, parts of its new code flashed through its mind.

Info about April was in its memory, in its code. Alberto was a lame animatronic, and it seems somewhat outdated. I do really doubt about Alberto is being something smartass machine with complicated AI like Freddy's Pizza's ones. Quite questionable. Donatello fix Al's brain and wrote code, synchronize with his remote control. He put information about Cap O'Neil into animatronic's head. All this pictures are kind of massage: "You was created for birthday celebrations. You are machine, and there concepts of "life" and "birth". Do great party for this birthday kid and April won't be like this". Or, something like that.

So Alberto did - do a memorable party. And he do what his creator programmed him to do, but in his way.

4. In other words, Alberto was a tool to impress April. Don flaunts himself in front of her, stating how he did the upgrade while doing the upgrade, even though April is fully aware of his tech wizard. And his abilities supposed to help Cap O'Neil to finish the birthday party, so she will stay at her job, not fired. All thanks to Donnie and his upgrade Alberto. (Or not)

By the way, Donnie was the last to leave April in ruined "Alberto's". And it's not an isolated case, it is a pattern.

5. They understand each other without words.

First, Donny came at her at the speed of light. Second, she hadn't even finished speaking before Dee was taking Al apart. Third, their chaotic, well-coordinated work? Donnie was a distraction (although he wanted to just take a break from the battle or let Alberto's guard down, while April just knocked him out). Donnie and April are great team, and sometimes the DonniexApril team is much more precise, coordinated, and interdependent than the DonniexBrothers one.

D&A feel each other and anticipate each other's actions, their skills complement each other, creating an incredible synergy of their interaction. They act as a whole, while it's not always possible with his brothers, even though they're family and know each other the way more Donnie know April. And Dee hasn't trained with cap O'Neil.

Donatello didn't show his crush for April. No puppy, loving eyes, no lovey-dovey speeches, no planning schemes (at least, the audience don't see one) . He just want her attention, but stays cool and hidden. D is already her BFF, but still.

The same thing is claimed in 5B episode - Mascot Melee. Donnie has no problems with interaction with idol of his childhood - Atomic Lass. She'd put Leo in a stupor, but Donnie? He playfully challenges her to a dance duel. Yes, he adores this character, who may have become his measure of the attractiveness of others to Donatello, determined his type. But still, he's playing all cool and confident guy, he's really smooth with girls, so you will never see a puppy loving eyes from him. Only two things can betray him at this point: his voice and his body language. Remember, how's soft his voice became for Atomic Lass? Now I want you to remember the scene before, in turtle tank, when April sent guys a meme.

D is the first to respond to the message, despite the fact that Mikey is sitting closest to the screen. And the responding is a little too emotional for this situation, don't you think?

And this face of his. And he comments it. He likes her sense of humour.

The only difference between April and Atomic Lass is that the first one is a real girl who is a friend of their family, practically a member of it; and the other one is just a fictional character. It is easier to say about love for a fictional character, because it brings less problems for a teenager, especially when he is living with three brothers and a father who likes to tease as well. Donatello needs to be careful and outline the area of emotions he could show, so that he does not get hurt.

Now, dear passangers, we are returning to the previous episode, shall we?

Donnie presents to his brothers his precious Turtle tank, but she's gone, and it's really necessary to find out, who has taken her. And the first person to suspect is April.

Something is odd, don't you think? Yeah, Raphael has taken tyre for their "Midnight special", Leo claimed that Donnie's stuff is common, but they are D's beothers. It's natural for family to borrow(stole) stuff of each other. But this trend was not observed in April. She would never steal anything from Donnie, much less steal anything from him.

Actually, there is a good, logical and solid explanation here. April was number 1 in Donatello' suspect list, because he simply told her about Turtle tank. His brothers didn't know he were working at Moon buggy, except Mikey (Orange helps Dee get the vehicle from Repomantis), but they didn't know what exactly Donnie was working for. They didn't know he build the Turtle tank, he kept it a secret, to surprise his brothers. But April knew.

- Alright you! Where's our turtle tank?

- Hi, DONNIE. You have 9 seconds to say, why are you just broke my door.

- Someone's stole Donnie's turtle tank.

- Haha-ow, I see. As your best friend, you naturally suspect me.

- She gets it!

- Oh-ho, don't give me that! You're the only one could taken it!

The only one, because she knew about it.

As Splints said in this episode - "April is not a snitch"

Donatello does trust April and share with her both, sorrows and joys. But we are not shown this directly. We do not see the action itself, we do not see their calls and conversations on the phone late at night, we only see the consequence. We have no choice and take it as a given.

And the way she cooled him down? Fast, efficient, and Donnie seems to used to it. Moreover, she slapped everyone, but still, she throw Don out of window the last. However, why such a large time delay between him, being slapped and him, was throwing out of the window?

And my favourite scene. It was obvious that Donnie had taken the hardest hit (judging by his scream and the way he was putting his knuckles back in place). Don then claims that their inner circle is secure, Mikey tries to make amends for everyone, and April agrees, blowing them a kiss and closing the window. Cute and mean, isn't it? (You're cute! but mean! why do I always go for your type?! - ep. War and Pizza)

Nota bene: Donnie wouldn't apologize to April. Tough, not caring badass boy image, remember? Even to best friends. It's hard to him to express his feelings by using words, he cannot do it in proper way. But he has Mikey, who is so alike inner him. Michelangelo apologizes not only for himself, but for D mostly, because D starts suspected April.

Let's continue: the episode 8B: Hypno Part Deux

• Donnie put "Donnie's blocker" at April's phone to protect her.

It's common thing that your friend install some programs or apps on your device. But you will always ask your friend to do such a favour, and you will always know about what, when and where were installed on your phone.

And April didn't know Donnie had done something with her phone. It was a real surprise for her, to see blocker with "Donnie says no-no-no".

And you know, the interface of his app. The way he tell this current phrase. Donnie could put a huge banner "THE APP YOU WANT DOWNLOAD TO IS A REAL PIECE OF GARBAGE", as usual antiviruses do. But no, voice interface. It makes the app more personal and thoughtful. Because when Don made gifts for his brother, the program was voiced by a computer-generated female voice. Yes, the tank's interface is voiced by Donatello himself, but his voice sounds more like Google than the real Don. And, we talking about HIS BABEY, for a second. Bit still, the point remains.

• Also, Dale.

Dale is nerdy boy in purple, wow, how convenient for making a parallel with certain purple turtle.

But thing is, April doesn't like Dale. He's clingy, remora guy, who has a little obsession with April, even he's not harmful, still, such behaviour freaks girls (and not them only) out. Her classmate is usually tell her what April O'Neil is "his favourite person" and he loves her. There is little that is attractive about this behavior.

So, there is nothing new and unpredictable here that Dale was rejected. Because April didn't, doesn't and won't like him because of his lame personality and strange behaviour. Our girl in yellow do right thing: she clearly sets personal boundaries and does not allow any dubious personalities to invade them. So that's the reason she refuses to go on a date with him at the end. He's weird, obsessed, and she doesn't like him.

Donatello, as far as I concerned from different versions of TMNT, was always a little obsessive with some things. And, you know, putting a blocker inside your best friend's phone seems a little weird, because it's, in simple words, violation of privacy and personal space. And there are people who may regard this as stalking or sorta.

Yeah, for the most part, he gets away with it, not only because April's focus is in a different area, but also because their bond is stronger than April's with anyone else at school.

She has known him for years. Donnie is her best friend. I can't say that it's fine to her when Dee violates her personal space - her phone, but April can accept Donatello's personality in general.

And he does really have good intentions. Donnie installed this blocker, developed by himself only for one reason: to protect personal space April from fishy apps from nowhere, from being hacked and etc. Don knew her too well, how much she depends on stupid apps that will distract her. He also knew well, that he can't be with her 24/7 to fix problems with April's phone, so Dee put a part of himself to prevent any harm in the future.

And again, "Donnie's gifts"'s vibes. Donatello genuinely cared about April, because he wrote, coded, developed, designed, and dubbed it, turned on the database, and installed it all on April's phone. 'cause, you know, writing programs in general is a bit of a hassle, but writing an antivirus is much more difficult, because viruses are changing, and questionable applications are finding ways to bypass. Do you feel how much effort Dee put in for her?

But Donatello didn't mean to fix April, as he tried to do with his brothers. Purple turtle accepts this girl the way she is, and tries his best to play smoothly with April, by adjusting, not being passive aggressive jerk. It's his outstanding way to show his caring nature, soft side.

Remember, small but meaningful actions.

Maybe, Donnie also can foresee that April may be forced to download some suspicious program, but still, it work: he managed to prevent April being hypnotized, even if couldn't be physically with April at the this moment - Dee was working for Repo Mantis, building dog's paradise for Todd. That's why, by the way, Leo and Raph were dragged into this whole situation. Mayham would teleported literally anyone to help his hostess. Donnie just wasn't at the Lair at the moment.

There are many funny lines that I love, and some of the things she has said to Brittany are my favs ever (the one pre-breakup where she talked about counting her smiles sophomore year and the proposal), but for a meaningful quote that's just Santana that always sticks with me, it has to be her coming out scene. "I love girls, the way that I'm supposed to feel about boys" was so powerful to me.

A couple of random Brittana ones I have is that Brittany constantly takes photos of her and Santana pouts and asks her to stop but secretly loves it (Santana pretends to complain about a lot of Brittanyisms but secretly- or not so secretly- loves them all) and she always falls asleep in movies but gets mad when Britt turns it off and pretends like she was watching the whole time.

Out of two het Meatbun novels on jjwxc, one has the very first (!!!) chapter of it locked.

I am unironically in awe. (I started on another one whose heroine is a tough MFer and I like even chapter in. It also has locked chapters but I can find those elsewhere.)

In general, jjwxc account and chrome auto translation is a great great invention since I discovered the author of Mistakenly Saving the Villain has a bunch of other novels (alas all modern) and the author of Those Years in Quest of Honor Mine does too and they are period!!! I am going to check some out (tho elsewhere since I prefer deepl to google translate and I can’t paste jjwxc text and also they have locked chapters.) I can see where my paycheck will be going haha.

Oh and I read the Mistakenly Saving the Villain extra and eeeee!!!! Some favorite bits:

1. Memory wiped An Long showing up at Yue Wuhuan’s house going “ugh this is so boring you were busy so you didn’t make the wine I normally drink and then I can’t even drag you out for our customary fun brawl since your spouse is just there.”

2. Qing Luan x Min Hong!!!! My one het otp in this one. The bit where MH finally discovers QL didn’t seal her memories after all.

3. The whole BZH x Peacock thing aka who knew this novel would give me an awesome secondary otp! Where Peacock is all “I don’t want to come back to heaven I finally got a spouse!” And YWH is all “fine here is a permit for coming and going from small world and power upgrade for BZH so he can also run around.” And also since all his feathers are out, Peacock is hiding at home and refusing to peek out or even do his usual lady clothes etc so he just basically hangs around BZH all day and the rumors become that BZH locks up some beauty in a dungeon for kinky times and BZH who is long used to all this insanity is just rolling his eyes.

Honestly, BZH storyline is one of my fave things about this novel because it’s such an inversion of genre stereotypes about bed roles corresponding to externalities so to speak - Peacock literally dresses and acts like a girl to such an extent most those not close to them don’t even know he’s not a woman. And BZH is the reserved, tough, tragic past head of assassin/bounty hunter sect who at the end is the freaking ruler of the Imperishable Peak aka he runs the world. And he’s the shou. (Also I will never be over the fact that while enough time passed, people don’t even know it was him, the vague story of his origins is around but the past got distorted enough that the abuser rapist in chief Jin Feiren is portrayed as an unfortunate victim killed by his cruel terrifying faithless spouse BZH. BZH doesn’t give two hoots - even if Peacock does and commissions books where BZH is an innocent victim rescued by a beauty aka him and BZH still doesn’t give two hoots - but the reason I love it so much is that it basically tramples JFR into dust so much further - to be “remembered” as a hapless little victim and his perfect toy BZH as some sort of sinister monster is the most humiliating reversal and I love it.)

4. All the OTP stuff!!! I saved the best for last. The fact that Yue Wuhuan saw SQS when he was still a stone and he’s always been obsessed with collecting beautiful stones so he asked the Heavenly Emperor for it and HE was all “it’s getting infused with spiritual power when it’s done sure” and then SQS actually turns into a person and HE is all “sorry YWH oops” and YWH goes “he’s a person? But why do I still want to take him home?” Awwww!!! That is why he used to fly by his window every day before the calamity!!!! Awww.

SQS still being a super big research nerd. He adopts that snake in human form and is all “I won’t be picky just one PhD will do!”

I like that a lot of YWH’s issues are fixed once he’s in his proper body/environment since he’s all “my actual body didn’t get get touched/I have a ton and ton of normal not horrible memories to balance the horrors out” but it’s not fully 100% fixed tho it probably will sometime be. Hi there realism!

Those two have a swinging sex life heh. My fave bit is it turns out the blood mole pops back out at some point and he hates it so he wants to figure out how to remove it but SQS is all “scientific research! Let’s see what makes it pop out and go away!” And it turns out it’s if he’s feeling particularly hmmm and if SQS and he have a really good time in bed it goes away again. And SQS is all “don’t need to figure out some insane ways of removal, I am willing to assist any time!” Hahahaha

They build some sort of replica of medicine valley because YWH is all “ugh my palace is too freaking large it takes me forever to track you down and even the bed is way too large.” Heh. I wish I had those problems.

Ok, this is just hilarious but at some point SQS gets so engrossed in his research he forgets to bang his spouse on the reg and when that finally ends YWH drags him into some sort of harem simulation where everyone is various avatars of YWH and afterwards SQS is all “omg I must never neglect him again for long because I can’t do this again I am too exhausted!!!”

5. Lady Nian Nian is 100% lesbian. Fight me.
