Thinking about how much Blake and Yang missed each other the entire time they were separated and how they were constantly on each other’s minds even while they were apart definitely doesn’t cause me any emotional pain.

Science Supports Bumbleby
Kind of shit post, kind of not. Just as an FYI.
Let's shed some light.
You see this:
Tumblr media
Who are you reminded of?
Yang Xiao Long, the woman whose semblance makes her hair glow and burn like the Sun. It's a comparison the RWBY community have made since the Yellow Trailer, right? ☀
Tumblr media
Now, to contrast.
Before I do, huge congratulations to Katie Bouman. If you don't know who she is, make it your mission to know. Katie Bouman (edit: forgive me; Dr Katie Bouman. Now I realise what Oobleck feels like...) was the woman who wrote the algorithm that gave us the first ever photograph of a black hole. Without her, we would have been pretty much in the dark about it still.
Speaking of the dark...
Who is it who is always likened to shadows in a lot of media, fan written or otherwise?
Blake Belladonna. And for reference, what do her eyes look like?
Tumblr media
And wouldn't you know it, what does humanity's very first picture of a black hole look like?
Tumblr media
What a coincidence!
Blake's eyes appear so similar to the image of a black hole - a universal body that is synonymous with darkness. 🕳
Not only that!
Black holes can only come to be once a star burns out and explodes in a supernova. The darkness comes after the light.
Without the star, the black hole cannot exist. Without Yang, Blake is not complete.

Blake... pulling Yang in by her jacket for a kiss... and Yang... running her hands through Blake's short hair as she kisses her back... that is all.

My current mood is just dying all over again thinking about all the soft Bees we might get in Volume 7.
Like my wishlist is basically:
Yang asking Blake for a hug and finally letting someone take care of her, preferably complete with Blake running her fingers tenderly through Yang’s hair while she holds her.
Yang wrapping her arm around Blake’s shoulders or waist when they sit next to each other, Blake taking Yang’s hand instinctively when they walk next to each other... just both of them being touchy feely and cute as hell.
Blake smooching Yang on the cheek and Yang turning bright red before she gently kisses Blake’s forehead in return.
Yang. Making. Blake. Laugh. (Please, RT. Please.)
Blake snuggling up to Yang when she’s sleepy and nuzzling into her and Yang just melting into a puddle from the adorableness.
A cheesy Romantic™ confession scene maybe at the Atlas Ball where they’re both shyly trying to admit their feelings and Blake just leans in and kisses Yang because she has waited Long Enough.
Weiss just suffering constantly and regretting all of her wingwoman activity now that she has to watch them being sickeningly sweet with each other. Bonus points if Ruby, Qrow, Maria, JNR, etc. all tease Blake and Yang for being so head over heels in love as well.
I don’t at all expect to get all of these and honestly I’mma die from whatever they give us but still. Let me dream okay.

Something I love is how Blake's bravery shows in her relationship with Yang as well as in her standing up to Adam time and time again and choosing to stay with her team. She says she wants her team to hate her for leaving, she clearly expects no forgiveness from them when she comes back, and yet in V6 she takes the initiative over and over in trying to rebuild her and Yang's bond.
She tries to help her on the train in Chapter 1, and it backfires, but then she still tries talking to Yang in the barn in Chapter 5, and that backfires too, but even after that she still tries to reestablish their dynamic with their conversation in Chapter 10. Yang doesn't discourage her at any point, but it isn't until Chapter 6 that she begins to open herself up completely to Blake again, and for Blake to repeatedly make the effort of reconnecting with Yang even before that demonstrates an awful lot of courage.
Not only does it prove that she's willing to put in the hard work and time necessary to make a relationship work, but considering how much loving people has hurt her in the past, with Adam turning her feelings for him back against her and using them to manipulate and control her for so long, it's an incredible act of vulnerability and strength on Blake's part to risk being hurt by love again and choose to try and fix her relationship with Yang anyway.
It would have been so easy for her to close herself off after she came back, to tell herself that there was no way Yang would ever forgive her and so there was no point even trying, but she didn't. She chose to grow instead— to understand that Yang never blamed her for what happened, and that she doesn't need to be forgiven for leaving, she just needs to be there for Yang now, because that's all Yang ever wanted.
It would have been so easy for her to give up after the misunderstanding in the barn, to tell herself that if Yang wouldn't tell her what she did wrong then there was no way she could fix it, but she didn't. She chose to grow instead— to understand that her guilt had made it seem like she didn't view Yang as an equal even though it wasn't true, and to demonstrate to Yang that that wasn't the case during the confrontation with Adam.
Blake was just so determined to mend her and Yang's relationship, and she was so admirably brave in the way she kept on choosing to do the work necessary to make that happen even when it would have been easier not to, and it just makes me very emotional.

Lots of people have screamed about the handholding here already but I just want to take a moment to really stop and think about what Yang must have been feeling in this moment. Because it is a lot.
Blake just nearly died. Blake just nearly died, and Yang couldn’t even care while it was happening. She could so easily have had to watch while Blake died--while Blake was taken away from her again by forces outside of her control--and she wouldn’t have felt anything about it until afterwards.
That is just... so fucked up. And you cannot convince me that Yang wasn’t thinking about it constantly for a while after Brunswick. That isn’t the kind of thing you just forget and get over quickly.
I think it’s very important that even though it’s a brief moment in the show they took the time to animate Yang looking down at Blake’s hand and back up at Blake’s face before she actually reaches over to take her hand. Because it makes it more than just her helping someone she cares about in a desperate situation because they were panicking.
It makes it a very deliberate, conscious choice on her part to take Blake’s hand. And considering the fact that their last interaction before this ended with Yang pulling her hand away from Blake and leaving her alone in the barn, it just makes this little detail even more significant.
Because not only could Blake have died and Yang wouldn’t have been able to care, but Blake could have died and the last thing Yang did would have been to walk out on her--to reject her--and I think it’s pretty clear that Yang is painfully aware of that in this moment.
Her taking Blake’s hand here isn’t just a nice little touch to show that Yang’s first instinct in a dangerous situation is still to make sure Blake’s okay, or to remind the audience that they do still care for each other very deeply despite the tension between them (though it is definitely both of those things as well).
It’s the moment in which Yang truly accepts Blake back, and the reason why after this episode their interactions become much less awkward and uncomfortable, because Yang couldn’t stand the idea that Blake might have been gone--might have left her again--and she’d missed her chance of ever properly fixing their relationship, of ever regaining the closeness they once had.
And I think that’s beautiful.

The official commentary said that “you can’t rush true love” with regards to Blake and Yang’s relationship. They really did that. It’s basically canon that Blake and Yang share true love. They actually are soulmates.
This feels like an appropriate moment to remember that shortly after Burning the Candle aired Monty commented on how “all good romance is earned.” He was absolutely right, and Blake and Yang have more than earned theirs by now.
Don’t mind me, I’m just emotional over the Bees like usual.

I don’t think I can say enough times that I adore how absolutely equal Blake and Yang’s relationship is. It’s so rare to see a truly balanced couple in media and it’s one of the many reasons I love Bumbleby so much.
