This is Otrona Attaché number 5300, one of the later models. It was likely produced in 1983, and runs CP/M 2.2.x. This computer is smaller, lighter, and more powerful than the contemporary Osborne and Kaypro machines—and its price tag was accordingly higher.

“We present Wall++, a low-cost sensing approach that allows walls to become a smart infrastructure. Instead of merely separating spaces, walls can now enhance rooms with sensing and interactivity. Our wall treatment and sensing hardware can track users’ touch and gestures, as well as estimate body pose if they are close. By capturing airborne electromagnetic noise, we can also detect what appliances are active and where they are located.”

Nel 1994, in occasione del primo governo Berlusconi, la stampa anglosassone coniò, per Alleanza Nazionale, la definizione di partito “near-fascist”, cioè “quasi fascista, vicino al fascismo”. Credo che oggi, per illustrare le politiche e i partiti che sostengono l’Eurolager, non sarebbe male coniare la definizione di “near-democrats”, cioè di “quasi democratici”, vicini alla democrazia (specialmente se fai tutto quello che vogliono loro, e ti adegui in fretta e bene) ma non propriamente democratici, perché – se non ti adegui – si abbatte su di te la mannaia del “sovranismo”, “populismo” e – naturalmente – del “neofascismo”, la salsa in cui una pseudodemocrazia totalmente fallimentare affonda tutte le sue nefandezze, di ieri, di oggi, di sempre.

       Mi sembra una bella definizione “near-democrats”. Quella che costoro meriterebbero davvero è “totalitari tout court“, ma vogliamo essere buoni, per ora.
