I think the Underworld has not only affected the characters...

It has affected the fandom. It’s trying to put us through a moment of hopelessness (aka with that rough bump with Belle and Rumple).

It gives me goosebumps thinking about how the Underworld sorta affects us too as viewers.

Well, guess what? Just like these characters, we’ve got to get through this! It may seem hopeless now, but come on, we’ve suffered through horrible times with Rumbelle.

Look on the bright side, Rumple will fix this and he will probably be the one to give Belle TLK. He’ll probably become the one from that prophecy.

The UW has taken a toll on us, and we have to fight back with hope. We can’t let something like this horrible episode take us down!

We’ll be stronger than ever, Rumbellers! We can do this!

40 Days of Positivity - Days 33, 34 and 35

Among all the possible Brotp’s on the show, I have three that are my unchallenged favorites.

The first I would like to talk about is Frozen Swan.

I’ve felt, from the beginning of Season 2, after we find out that Emma’s best friend is, in fact, her mother, and after their relationship takes a nosedive, that Emma needed a friend in Storybrooke. Someone who could understand her, who she could relate to in some way. When Season 4 aired, I didn’t realize she was about to get just that. Elsa is probably the one princess in the whole Disney panteon that can understand Emma Swan. Both of them have closed themselves off to the world at some point, even if for different reasons, and have grown incredibly lonely because of it. They both have magic that more often than not scares them and, eventually, bonded over it.

I loved their moments on screen and would have loved to see more. It’s a shame the Arendelle crew had to go back so soon. I really hope they can find a way to communicate, I can definitely do with some more girl time with those two.

Another one of my top Brotp’s is one of the fandom favorites. Captain Charming seems to be everyone’s favorite bromance, there are hundreds of fanfics, photo and gifsets dedicated to David, Killian and their unlikely friendship, and I’ll have to admit Tumblr got me in love with those two. I love their beginnings - punching/hitting people on the face with heavy things seems to be a great way of introducing yourself to potential new mates in Once. I like how, at first, their different backgrounds and interests puts them constantly at odds, a hero and a villain, until Neverland brought them together.

I like to think that David reminded Killian of Liam from the start, his brother with his courage and his righteousness,  and that is why he made sure to antagonize him more than the others and, eventually, went through some trouble to save his life. After that is a tentative friendship, they work well together and, with time, grow to trust each other. By the time the Queens were around, they were having conversations with their eyes and sharing meaningful nods.

Throughout their entire relationship - or almost that -, their love for Emma has been a major common ground for Hook and Charming. Now that she needs to be saved, I expect their relationship to keep developing on Season 5. There will probably be a lot of conflict between them, but I’m holding out for some seriously angsty bonding time.

All the friendships on the show are great, but, to me, the BrOTP of all BrOTP’s in Once is Swan Queen.

I never saw Emma and Regina as a couple. Except from one episode and a half back on Season 1, when I was pretty pissed about the writers setting up a sort of love triangle between them and Graham - absolutely sick of those, the greatest guy in the world isn’t worth a cat fight, and he wasn’t even close -, them being together didn’t cross my mind. Their personalities never screamed romantic interest to me, and even the chemistry between Jen and Lana looked more like potential frenemies than anything else. And what frenemies those two make!

They’re both snarky, stubborn and independent women, who lived through harsh childhoods and continued to face hardships as young women. Both Emma and Regina were placed in bad situations in their late teens, Emma pregnant and locked up, Regina married to a man who felt next to nothing for her. They’ve been terribly hurt and scarred, and are slowly overcoming old insecurities, finding love and companionship after years of loneliness.

It’s the perfect moment in the story for them to grow closer and I love how the writers are working their relationship. I particularly enjoyed how Emma made a conscious to be Regina’s friend and told her so, how she reached out even with all the history between them. I also loved their moments on the last episodes of Season 4. Regina’s support in face of the Lilly debacle was important to Emma, not only because she talked Emma down from shotting Lilly in the head. Regina did what a real friend would, she heard her friend’s troubles and acknowledged her feelings, but tried to keep her from wallowing in them, reminding Emma that not everything wrong in the world could be her fault.

I don’t feel, as some people do, that Regina’s presence on the show is a hindrance of any sort, that her development takes away screen time that could be better used on other characters. I also don’t feel that her presence is a threat to Emma’s relationship with Killian. Emma needs a friend other than her parents and her boyfriend, no matter how great they are, and at this point in the show, with darkness closing in, she needs all the help she can get.

40 days of positivity • day forty: three things I’m grateful for → #3 - the fandom Look, we’re a big dysfunctional family, and I get it. I get that there’s arguments and stupid fights and stuff like that, but I can’t be more grateful for this fandom. The moment I got into Once Upon A Time a year and a half ago, I was immediately welcomed in this fandom and I didn’t care if I wasn’t part of it from the very beginning, because it felt like I was. I have met amazing people because of OUAT, and I feel like I’ve grown up a lot because of these people. Also, we have some very talented people among us, and the creativeness spreading in the fandom is a constant source of inspiration and a challenging push towards becoming better at making art - be it editing, drawing, painting or writing. I know things get messy sometimes, and I know we will never agree on everything. But I am thankful for being part of this big, dysfunctional family.
