Prologue? Pilot? IDK Man I Just Work Here
part 1.1
{hello and welcome to the very first chapter of the full house au. i know @moreover-clover and @redley-of-many-noodles offered to beta this fic for me; i appreciate that and i may very well take you up on it for later chapters, but tbh i have homework that really needs to get done and i will not be able to focus on anything else until i get this out of the way, so... hopefully its not terrible i guess. that said, i did initially start writing this in past tense and then decided to do it in present instead, so if anyone notices a typo/tense error, feel free to point it out so i can fix it lol
trigger warning for mentions of injuries and death
now without further ado...}

Stumbling past the automatic glass doors, covered in blood- but is it his own? Or does it belong to the barely conscious man he’s dragging along beside him?
Probably both.
The bright white lights overhead burn his eyes and the sharp sterile scent of chemicals does the same to his nose- this is not a pleasant place to be, but it’s the only place to be right now. It’s their only hope of not losing yet another person to this alternate dimension shit that’s been plaguing their lives for three years.
Seeing Eddie’s crumpled, torn-apart body in the Upside Down, watching Dustin sob over him- that had been bad enough. They may have had almost matching wounds, but Eddie’s were deeper, and there were twice as many of them, and, god, that could have been him, it should have been him.
Dustin’s devastated and the world is ending and we’ve lost someone else and dammit didn’t I tell him not to be a hero?
But then he’d found a pulse. The faintest flutter, but it was there, and it spurred him right back into action, adrenaline pumping overtime through his veins even as he was ready to collapse. Both of them might well be on death’s door, but they had hope.
And then, just as they made it back through the gate, they had gotten the call over the walkie about Max.
The panic and despair threatened to settle back over him, driving him into the ground with its weight. He had been trying so hard to keep her safe since they realized she was Vecna’s next target, and now…
They were supposed to meet up at the hospital, so that’s where he went. He has to see the kids and he has to keep Eddie breathing and maybe just maybe he’ll get a chance to get his own wounds looked at, if there’s time. Robin will never forgive him if he lets rabies take him out.
So he and Dustin have Eddie slung between them, barreling clumsily through the Hawkins ER like a lopsided bull in a proverbial china shop while everyone else stares on in confusion and horror at the state they’re in. If anyone recognizes the fallen king or the target of the ongoing manhunt, they don’t say anything, and for that one tiny thing in the long and awful list of what’s happened today, he’s grateful.
There are, however, voices aimed in his direction, lilted up at the end in interrogation, but he can’t afford to think right now; he can only keep moving forward, giving weakly shouted answers to questions that go in one ear and out the other. His mind is clouded with fear and the desperation to get all his important people back together in one room so he can see that they’re all still alive. If they aren’t, if someone is missing, if Max doesn’t make it, if no one will treat Eddie-
He’s vaguely aware that he’s begging at this point, but he doesn’t care. His brain is too busy listing.
Robin, Nancy, Erica, Lucas- they’re together, they’re with Max. The Byers are all the way in California; Mike is probably on his way back right now- what a mess to come home to. Dustin- he’s with me. Safe. Eddie- also with me, not safe, probably dying.
They may not have known each other long, but he does feel tears prick his eyes at the thought- they had literally marched into hell together, after all. A nurse offers him a tissue- when did they get here? When did he sit down? And why is the room spinning like the Starcourt ceiling last July?
He doesn’t get an answer to any of his questions, doesn’t even get to voice them, before the room is going dark and Dustin’s frantic voice at his side is sounding further and further away, until everything goes quiet.
~~~
The silence is broken by a harsh ringing noise, followed by muffled voices, the latter growing clearer as the former slowly fades out. He knows those voices.
He jolts upright, sending a sharp trail of pain through his lacerated torso, but is momentarily distracted by the fact that he had somehow wound up in a hospital bed between blacking out and waking up. As soon as his mind catches up to speed on his new whereabouts, he looks wildly around the room- not exactly a typical hospital room, but that hasn’t registered yet- taking stock of every face he can see, every voice he can hear.
To his immense relief- and also confusion- he sees Max in a bed just like his right across from him, Lucas and El at her side. She’s in bad shape, but she appears to be alive, at least.
Thank god. Wait- El? What is she doing here?
The next thing he sees is the entire Byers family- plus two extra guys, one of whom looks familiar but way paler and thinner and more beaten up than Steve remembers- squeezed onto a couch at the far end of the room.
Weren’t they in California? And- hold on- is that Hopper? Isn’t he dead?
Wait.
Am I dead?
Before he can have an existential crisis, though, something snaps him out of it. A hand on his shoulder, rougher than he would have liked, to be honest, but grounding. Dustin- who he realizes must have been sleeping in the chair between him and the next bed over- has just woken up in time to catch him doing the same, and the kid looks thrilled. Exhausted, emotionally drained, but thrilled.
“Steve! Guys, he’s awake!”
All eyes turn his way, just about everyone accounted for, it seems, and somewhere in the back of his mind he wonders how Robin and all the kids got here with their usual chauffer currently out of action. But then he notices something else. Something that honestly shouldn’t be as startling as it is, considering everything else going on.
All the parents are here too. And they look… well, about how they can be expected to look, given the circumstances.
“Good, I’m glad you’re alright,” says Karen Wheeler, arms crossed over her chest, menacing gaze sweeping the room. “Because my son came home in the back of a pizza van, begging us to take him to the hospital, where apparently you and two of his other friends have been half-dead all night in the middle of these so-called ‘earthquakes,’ and I’d really like an explanation. From all of you.”
~~~
The room was dead silent, the parents staring in wide-eyed shock as the long-winded, traumatic narrative drew to a close.
“So… I guess you guys need some time to process all that, huh?”
Dustin’s question was met with a sudden cacophony of returning inquiries, sharp and frantic and tinged with bewilderment, overlapping one another in their haste. It was hard to tell who said what through the haze of whatever painkillers they put in his IV.
“How the hell did we not know about any of this?”
“Hawkins is cursed?”
“Why didn’t any of you say anything?”
“All this has been going on under our noses for years?”
He had been expecting disbelief, accusations of letting their imaginations run away from them, but… their tale connects a few too many dots, makes a little too much sense, considering how strange and malevolent life has become in their formerly sleepy little town.
“Are- are you guys- mad?” Will asks, even though he, out of all of them, has the least to worry about.
Before any of them could answer, Mike jumps in, “Because, if you are, that’s really not fair, we’ve sorta been through a lot as it is-”
“And that’s exactly why we’re mad- no- furious. Our kids have been going through hell right in front of us and we had no idea! Of course we’re going to be upset about it! You guys could have died, and we would have had no idea what happened!”
“Well, yeah, I guess, but- we didn’t. We’re fine, mom…”
“You are absolutely not fine. After everything you just told us about? There’s no way you could possibly be fine. This whole thing is so far outside the realm of fine.”
There’s a heavy pause after that; it’s not like anyone can disagree with her. When no response comes, she turns her fierce, teary eyes on the older teens.
“What about you guys? You- Steve, Jonathan, Nancy- you’ve known about all this the whole time! Why didn’t you tell us? Why didn’t you come to us for help?” It sounds like an accusation, and yet… there’s more pain in her voice than anything. Her targets wince, crumple, while Robin and Argyle- whoever that is- just sort of awkwardly shuffle about off to the side, none of them meeting Mrs. Wheeler’s gaze.
It's Joyce who ends up breaking the tense silence.
“In their defense, Karen, Hop and I knew about all this too. The thing is- we weren’t allowed to tell anyone.”
Having become one of her anger’s new targets, Hopper quickly explains, “The Hawkins lab freaks made us sign a bunch of NDAs, take a vow of silence on the whole matter, basically. It was the only way to get them to cooperate. If we had gone around telling people, we could’ve put everyone in even more danger. And besides, before now, would you have even believed us? If we had told you there were monsters like something out of a sci-fi movie hunting folks down, taking over minds, opening portals to another dimension- right in the middle of Hawkins?”
“Would you have believed your kids?” Joyce adds softly, addressing all her fellow moms in the room.
At that, Karen deflates. She exchanges a look with Sue and Claudia, and speaks for all of them when she says, “I… I guess not. I want to say I would have, but… it’s all too crazy. If we hadn’t seen what we saw today, and if you all didn’t have each other backing up your story, well… honestly, I would have thought you were making it up.” Apparently the Wheelers had almost driven right into one of the rifts- one of the very obviously otherworldly rifts- on their way here. Well, they had to find out somehow.
“And that’s another reason we couldn’t tell you. We didn’t want you to think we were crazy,” Nancy explains.
Lucas tacks on, “We also didn’t want you to send El back to the lab, or to any other messed up place that would lock her up and hurt her.”
El nods seriously, a fearful expression flashing across her face as she takes a step back, bumping into Max's bed. Lucas places a reassuring hand- the one not occupied with holding Max's- on her shoulder.
“Oh- honey, no, we would never do that. Don’t worry. We actually owe you a lot, it sounds like; I can’t thank you enough for saving my children’s lives. You’ll always be safe with us, as far as I’m concerned.”
“But that’s the thing,” Susan interjects, not taking her watery eyes off her comatose daughter. “They’re not safe, none of them are, not here. And they haven’t been for a long time, it seems. I don’t know when they will be safe. I hate to say it, but I don’t think our kids should stay in Hawkins.”
This triggers a rush of protests from the kids, voices once again blending in a way that’s difficult for Steve to keep up with.
“But- but Hawkins needs us! Now more than ever!”
“Yeah! We have to stay and fight!”
“We can’t just let Vecna have our town!”
Hopper motions for everyone to settle down. “Listen, kids. I know you want to help, but you’ve been fighting this battle for too long as it is. You all never should have been involved in something so dangerous in the first place.”
“Right, what he said. I mean, you’re just kids, for god’s sake!” Claudia adds in, although she still looks mostly stunned by everything she’s just found out about.
“This is not your responsibility. We’ll stay here and fight, and you all will get somewhere safe, somewhere far away from all this.”
This does indeed sound like a direct order from their returned-from-the-dead resident chief of police. What comes next, though, is much gentler, fatherly, and he’s definitely looking right at El when he says it.
“Let us take it from here, okay?”

and the work day stretches into the night
you just get to sit there and watch the c.l.o. do paperwork. that's it. that's the fic. written in honor of the release date of corporate clash's 1.1 update's anniversary. thank you for bringing me the woman ever AO3 MIRROR HERE
You observed the C.L.O.’s hand, carefully crafted, drop a pen onto a wooden desk with a soft clang to the metal barrel of the writing device. Her hand took a brief pause before it switched a side’s desk lamp, from dim to a brighter setting that startled your eyes that had already adjusted to the previous on setting dusk. The pen was retrieved, and there was a mild shift of her shoulder that you rested on as the C.L.O. continued the barrage of tonight’s authorization signatures and god knows what else was in there. She was a swift one with paperwork, but it seemed that having somebody watching did give her a reason to take more detail into this work.
Many a suit would kill to be in your place now, but for different reasons. To climb the corporate ladder would be one thing, but you had managed to take an alternative route to be allowed the metaphorical throne of an “emergency reassembly of individual position” to become her assistant. To go over the history now would be pointless, but you two were...close enough. There was no talk of lovers, but rumors were already blooming from the more gossipy of the company of just how you had came to be.
And now, the literal throne – the silent observation as she does those nightly tasks, ones the C.L.O. had become so used to that any sort of annoyance at how mundane the busywork had become had numbed itself. You wouldn’t be paid any sort of overtime for being here hours beyond your usual time to clock out, but that meant nothing. It was enough to just stay by her side, the same side that emits the substantial noise of a cooling fan whirring around the shoulder blades’ joints and beneath her suit, overpowering once so close, but nobody had shattered her veil of professionalism enough to hear it before.
Her chassis was both modern for a suit and the sheer opposite. Some parts updated, some not, not to mention that her entire lower half went against the humanoid structure a suit usually would have. It was best described as tank movement, treads and all.
But something about that had always picked at your processors, fascinations that were maybe shared in a different way.
And now, the admiration you had for this supercomputer of your boss was unable to be avoided. Between that and the exhaustion coming over you (had you forgotten to recharge last night?), you instinctively leaned onto her neck. The metal was cold, your own shoulder meeting the seam where plating met, narrowly above a bolt holding it together, the humanoid structure hiding a jungle of vines, mechanicals, the very soul of the C.L.O. and perhaps every other suit, but for now, hers. And that seemed to have gotten some part of her attention, as the hand that was not busy with trying to re-ink a stamp with the department’s emblem retreated from holding a paper steady. It passed and drifted across the bow that decorated her shirt collar, and nudged the other side of your body closer to her neck.
You were now surrounded by the cold metal that made up what you one day could only dream of calling a lover, behind the wooden doors of the headquarters, because suits weren’t built for such things as romance. It had become more popular now to be open about such things, but mostly within those whose careers wouldn’t be on the line for it.
But for now, those doors were shut, and it was only the two of you perhaps in this entire building, however vast it was, so there was that freedom to do this sort of thing. And maybe it was unlucky to be positioned right below her ears, decorated with yet another circular bolt colored a deep purple that almost was an earring in its own way – she could definitely hear your own fans going haywire with how overheated you felt from the situation, as much as you could feel it within your chest.
You looked up for a second to see if there’s some sort of expression on her face. Her face – the sharp nose, the bright rounded glasses that framed a long shape sculpted to perfection of a suit, the way her hair was kept short and to a side – there was never a denial to those below her that age had not rendered her any less beautiful to those who apply to care about such things. And to believe she was not married after all those years, focused so narrowly on a career, not wanting it any other way.
The C.L.O. had a small smile on her face as she kept her hand close to you.
And she almost never smiled!
She wasn’t known for being warm like the Senior V.P., or being drowned in the apathy that the stalemate against the Toons had brought the other two department heads. She still had that fury against them, that burning passion to show herself as being capable against them, no matter how many times she had been sent down a trap-door by those pests. She was rendered cold by it all, and yet, she smiled just by having someone touch her, be by her side. That was enough to break the ice when nobody was there to see it melt.
And the next morning, both of you would have to pretend this moment was not shared, but for now, it was basked in. Her hand twirled around, before a finger slipped under your own arm. And then, the pen was set down again, before she broke the silence.
“Is there a reason why you haven’t said anything?” she questioned. Your entire body somehow grew colder than the metal to metal contact already was, surrounding the warmed core.
“If you want me to,” was your only response. Stepping out of line when you’re this close to underneath her command always seemed so daunting.
“Please do. This position is isolating, to put it at that. It’d be more than welcome to hear somebody else control a conversation.”
And all you could get out of your now-even-more-flustered state was a nod, which she could probably at least kinda feel through her hands, your entire body going even stiffer than being, well, metal, already rendered it. She wanted to know more about you. How daunting, how terrifying to have to open yourself up to her. It would feel like a vivisection of yourself, the piercing of a butterfly for her to see, but beyond all the fear involved in trying to develop more of a personal relationship outside of a work one – a sinking feeling knowing it could just be worth it.
Her hand lowered down, and you re-adjusted as to not fall from the front. There was a sudden noise of the treads of her lower half pulling away from the desk – something, just something so admirable about the more abstracted machinery she was made up of. The noise accompanied that of the cooling fans and the general whirring of her insides, and as she went to the other side of the room leading to what separated her quarters from the rest of the HQ, she spoke once more, going from the unusually personal tone of voice from before to that usual commandance.
And now, the C.L.O. ordered, “Tomorrow. Same time as today was. Make sure to open up a little, however. It will be good background noise, if not more."
With the advancements of suits more software part of the brain, that would be jotted into your mental calendar. Around an hour after everyone else would be gone, in other words.
She once again reached up to your smaller chassis, opting to just pick you up entirely, reaching downwards to place you at the edge of the stand her body connected to the tank half, and used the back of her fingers to gently nudge you off. You landed onto the tiles with a bit of a bounce in your lower legs, and with a silent wave from the same hand that had led you down, you were on your own ways once again, but not for long.

Happy STS! My first time participating, so I'd like to spread some positivity. Would you care to share something about your writing that you're proud of, be it a snippet, strong suit, scene, theme, etc? - @new-royston-cursebreakers
Happy STS and thanks for the ask, @new-royston-cursebreakers!
I dug around and found the very First draft of Crater City, which was written almost a year ago on August 18, 2022! I will be celebrating its birthday soon, Yes. Starting this story is an Accomplishment in itself, and something I am very Proud of!
This draft used to be the very Beginning of the story, back when I wrote linearly. And also back when the story started out with Blair and Elijah having a pre-established relationship. But yeah, I can share a piece of it after the line break!
...
Section 1.1: At the Diner
(Note: it's in Blair's POV)
The night was stormy. It was 3:30 AM when my phone buzzed, alerting me of Elijah’s tragic accident. I was in my fifth dream and getting to the best part–but that's beside the point. I had no choice but to put on a shirt and some pants and drive my ass to the arcade.
I took the freeway and barreled at a speed of 90 in a 70, headlights struggling to keep up with the thick summer smog. I could hardly see where I was driving, so I rolled down the window to smell the way to the arcade. The aroma of pizza and crime filled the car, so I knew it wouldn't be too long until I'd reach the place. Suddenly, the car moved on its own. The steering wheel waved back. Going once…going twice…going thrice…sold!
After the triple donut had concluded, I arrived at the scene.
There were no police or anything because of the sheer number of crimes that occurred on this side of the river, so I was on the lookout for suspicious characters. In the alleyway behind the arcade, lay Elijah, unconscious. I checked his pulse. Cold. I tried to do some of those chest compressions I saw in a movie once, fear climbing up my throat as I realized that in approximately 2.5 seconds, I had to make mouth-to-mouth contact with my best, most platonic friend in the whole wide world. I–
“Oh my god, stop it!” Elijah, unable to hold back laughter, slammed his body against the booth. “‘My best, most platonic friend…’?”
“But you don’t understand, Elijah, I had to resist every urge to make it not look platonic. For the police records." Getting a police report was a privilege these days, so trying to bump up the likeability a notch would help appeal to the boys in blue. Paying for a police report was hard enough as it was.
Elijah scoffed from across the table, “You didn't mention the part where all I texted you was a keyboard smash before passing out.” He ran a hand through his side-shaved green hair. “Seriously, how did you know I was in trouble?"
"Don't be ridiculous," I took a sip from my coffee, now empty, "You don't ever use numbers in your key smashes unless you're drunk. And you're only drunk when I'm with you. And," I leaned over the table with a crooked smile, "We agreed to get drinks the next night. That's how I knew something was up."
Elijah rolled his eyes. "Call it a hunch, I guess..." traces of melancholy were in his smile. He averted his eyes to the window where the tiny people walked a few stories below.
The incident happened a month ago, yet his wounds still seemed fresh. We both understood the severity of that night, yet there wasn't much we could do. With those bastards on the loose, there was no telling if or when they'd strike again.
The only reason we were out in town was because Elijah hadn't been out of his apartment in weeks. It took a bit of bribing him that my plan was flawless before I tied him up and threw him in the passenger's seat, so I'd say things went pretty smoothly. Ultimately, we chose to go to some hole-in-the-wall cafe, none of which the likes of his aggressors could catch wind of. I was like his bodyguard now.
It made me feel sick to see him hurt. I took in his presence in front of me. It'd been five years since we'd known each other and we'd been through some rather unfortunate circumstances. It was insane how we were both still alive. But we promised to stick together no matter what.
Maybe it's the side effects of acute radiation poisoning, but every time my eyes catch a glimpse of his face, there's this golden halo that surrounds him…
"Blair?" Gah! Elijah must have caught me staring at him because his face began to flush. I snapped out of my daydream.
“You’re so cute.” My tongue slipped and it came out like a drunk confession. I leaned into him for a kiss, brushing his lips for a brief moment, then making a direct shot for his drink straw. Bingo. He scowled.
Elijah and I were getting cold glares from the other patrons in the coffee shop. I quickly checked myself: I'm pretty sure I zipped up my pants…I washed my hair yesterday…I even flossed this morning because I ate chicken and I hate it when the stringy bits gets in my teeth…
What was I forgetting? I tilted my head. Maybe it was the intriguing story about Elijah? Perhaps they were jealous. I wouldn’t blame them because I think it’d be an honor to become a news story right after the weather’s announced. That weather girl is fine…
“What? Something about that weather girl?” Elijah was reading my thoughts! Or maybe my thoughts materialized and radiated onto my surroundings. He looked up at the screen in the corner of the ceiling and smirked, “Yeah you’re right, she sure is pretty.”
I scratched my head, “I kinda wish I knew what she was talking about…you know, on the news?”
The news was always talking about things like global warming or nuclear threats or rads or how the world technically ended 5 years ago, yet scientists were surprised that we as a species have still made it. I never really cared too much about it, though. What was there left to do anymore? Besides, I wanted to get to the bottom of who beat the shit out of my boyfriend. The news mentioned neither a "Mister" nor a "Star" yet. What does it take to get some notoriety in this place?

we haunt ourselves — act 1, part 4
Caitlyn had never met anyone she liked looking at as much as she liked looking at Vi. Even here, even now, she still noticed little details for the first time. The bridge of Vi’s nose wasn’t completely straight, probably a souvenir from a bygone fight, a break that had only mostly healed correctly.
She felt a melancholy ache in the pit of her stomach. “You can’t do this,” she said, almost hoping to goad Vi out of her slumber. “You can’t come barreling into my life, turn it all upside down, and just—leave.”
Or: Caitlyn finally discovers the truth. Silco signs a treaty. Jinx contemplates all that she’s lost, and what she still has. Something goes on the prowl. chapters: prologue | 1.1 | 1.2 | 1.3 | 1.4

COP27- Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
COP27  was full of people from all over the world  who are working on different initiatives to address climate change. We attended many sessions from organizations and every one of them is working on their own separate project that  they’re passionate about and that brings us one step closer to climate justice.
For example, we attended a few sessions that had Indigenous people as its panelists, they were from different  countries like Brazil and Mexico. They presented some of the problems their communities faced due  to climate change, and spoke about  their rage due to lack of  equal treatment back home. They explained  that climate justice is social justice and demanded equality to be given to them .  if It was relevant to hear that from them, because  of their relationship f to nature  and  their   belief to give back to nature if they want  to take from it
Another interesting  session was titled  From the People to the Highest Court, one of the panelists managed to get 18 nations together to revise a resolution that they’re intending to present to the United Nations and then take it over to the International Court of Justice. That reminded me of the activity we did in the  Global Kids CFR Summer Institute where we practiced how UN meetings occur and the process of drafting resolutions and voting  for whether they should pass or not.
In one of  the sessions that focused  on  supporting  women and youth, an Indian lawyer in the panel talked about how they are working to provide women in India and other countries with opportunities to learn about  climate change and  sustainable development . They also help with financing programs that have the  same  goal  in  order to help spread awareness about  climate change in as  many places and  to as  many people  as possible.
Finally, in  one of my favorite sessions, the Partnership for the SDGs session,  Yohany spoke on the panel.  I  got  to talk to a scientist who does research  about sea acidification and  their work with legislators to create laws that are coherent with  the  plans  to  fix  or reduce the found acidifications. I talked with him about the abandoned Safer storage ship  that’s on the shores of Yemen and is threatened to  start  leaking its load  of 1.1 million barrels of crude oil at  any time. This connected the issue of climate justice to my own community back home in Yemen.  He gave me  his email address after  our  discussion and told me to email him with more details after.  He can talk to his colleagues that can  make a diagnosis of  the ship using radars to see how bad its erosion is so far and other details regarding the ship. That should be helpful to presenting this case when trying to gather donations to start the mission of offloading the barrels off the ship because of the more details we will have.
Overall, the COP 27 was a promising  event and  hopefully successful. Many  of  the  sessions we attended were focused on ongoing projects from people and organizations that  have different fields of interest but are all aimed to bring Climate Justice to the people who’re affected by their field. There was an entire pavilion dedicated to youth and kids which was good but at the same time I thought it was insufficient. That pavilion was one out of so many, and you couldn’t notice it unless you’re looking for it. Moreover, it only had youth in its audience so it was not very useful because their messages weren’t reaching the people who were in charge and had real power to make change. But nonetheless, it was a great experience  attending COP and I learned a great deal that I didn’t know before. I’m hopeful about the effects some of the presented projects will have and I look forward to hearing about them.

Each year spent in the barrel allows the whiskey to develop rich flavors and smoothness, giving it a character that stands out from its younger counterparts.
2. The Distillation Process of Jack Daniels 12 Year Old
2.1 Sourcing the Finest Ingredients
Jack Daniels 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey begins with the careful selection of the finest ingredients. The distillery uses locally sourced corn, rye, and malted barley to create the whiskey’s distinct flavor profile. This commitment to quality starts from the very beginning, ensuring that only the best grains make their way into each batch.
2.2 Mashing and Fermentation
Once the grains are sourced, they go through a process called mashing, where they are ground and mixed with water to create a mash. This mash is then fermented using a unique strain of yeast, developed specifically for Jack Daniel’s. The fermentation process converts the sugars in the mash into alcohol, setting the foundation for the whiskey’s flavor.
2.3 The Distillation Process
After fermentation, the liquid goes through the distillation process, a crucial step in producing Jack Daniels 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey. This process involves heating the liquid and separating the alcohol from impurities through a carefully controlled distillation method. The result is a smooth and refined spirit that will later be aged in oak barrels.

3. The Unique Charcoal Filtering Method
3.1 The Lincoln County Process
One of the things that sets Jack Daniel’s apart is its iconic charcoal filtering process, also known as the Lincoln County Process. This extra step involves dripping the whiskey through charcoal made from sugar maple trees before it goes into the aging barrels. This traditional method, named after the county where the distillery is located, contributes to the whiskey’s distinctive character.
3.2 How Charcoal Filtering Impacts the Whiskey
The charcoal filtering process not only removes impurities but also imparts a smoothness and mellowness to the whiskey. By allowing the spirit to pass through layers of charcoal, any harsh flavors are tamed, resulting in a refined and balanced taste. This unique filtration method is one of the secrets behind the exceptional quality of Jack Daniels 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey.
4. Tasting Notes and Flavor Profile
4.1 Aromas and Fragrances
When you indulge in a glass of Jack Daniel’s 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey, prepare your senses for a delightful experience. The aromas of rich caramel, toasted oak, and sweet vanilla will greet your nose, inviting you into a world of indulgence and complexity. These enticing fragrances set the stage for what’s to come in each sip.
4.2 Palate and Mouthfeel
As the whiskey touches your lips, you’ll be delighted by its velvety smoothness and full-bodied nature. The rich flavors of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and a hint of spice dance on your palate, creating a harmonious symphony of taste. The 12 years of aging have allowed these flavors to develop and intertwine, resulting in a truly satisfying drinking experience.
4.3 Finishing Notes and Aftertaste
The journey doesn’t end with the last sip. Jack Daniel’s 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey leaves a lasting impression with its long, warming finish. The lingering notes of caramel, toasted oak, and a touch of fruitiness will stay with you, giving you a moment to savor and contemplate the excellence of this well-aged spirit.
So, the next time you seek a whiskey that embodies tradition, craftsmanship, and exceptional taste, look no further than Jack Daniel’s 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey. Cheers!
5. Aging Process and Maturation of the Whiskey
5.1 Barrels and Oak Selection
When it comes to aging whiskey, the choice of barrels and oak plays a crucial role. Jack Daniel’s 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey is aged in newly charred American white oak barrels. These barrels give the whiskey its distinct flavor and character, as the wood imparts rich and complex notes during the aging process. The selection of oak is carefully done to ensure that each batch of whiskey achieves the desired taste profile.
5.2 Warehouse Aging and Climate Influence
The next step in the maturation process takes place in the warehouse, where the barrels are stored for years. The aging environment plays a significant role in shaping the whiskey’s flavor. At the Jack Daniel’s distillery, the whiskey is exposed to the natural variations in temperature and humidity, which have a profound impact on its development. This unique climate in Tennessee contributes to the smoothness and richness of the 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey.
5.3 The Role of Time in Developing Complexity
Time is an essential ingredient in creating a delicious and well-rounded whiskey. The 12 Year Old Tennessee Whiskey benefits from a longer aging period, allowing the flavors to mature and develop complexity over time. As the whiskey rests in the barrels, it absorbs flavors from the oak and undergoes chemical reactions that bring out different layers of taste. This extended aging process is what gives this particular Jack Daniel’s expression its smoothness and depth.

Sig Sauer P365 Accessories: Two of the Best Upgrades You Can Make
The micro compact Sig Sauer P365 is one of the best-selling handguns in America. It’s reliable, durable, and comes in optics-ready configurations.
Tumblr media
It also offers plenty of capacity and comes in NJ/CT/IL/HI/CO-compliant configurations with 10-round magazines.
There’s just one thing about it. It’s tiny. At only 5.8” long, 1.1” wide, and 4.3” tall, this thing is really small.
Which, on one hand, is a good thing. It’s light and easy to carry and conceal, and with such a small footprint, it’s not likely to print.
But there’s a catch. It can be tough to handle for those with larger hands.
No worries, though. Here’s a Sig Sauer P365 accessory to combat that, plus another upgrade.
A Pinky Rest If you have large hands and the P365 is just a bit too small for you to shoot comfortably, one of the best Sig Sauer P365 accessories you can use as an upgrade is a pinky rest.
It’s not what it sounds like - it’s much better, more like a pinky “extension.”
This pinky rest for Sig P365 handguns extends the grip of the handgun, making it easier for shooters with larger hands to get all four fingers on the grip. In lieu of an extended magazine, it’s a pretty solid option.
It is easy to install, will not interfere with carrying potential, and will improve handling and thereby accuracy.
Getting a surer grip on your P365 can also help you perfect your aim and control recoil at the same time. This can help you manage faster follow-up shots which can be critical in defensive situations.
Also, it’s available in 5 colors (purple, red, black, blue, and gold) and is made in the United States from tough aluminum.
It is easily one of the most impactful upgrades you can make to your Sig P365.
A Nitrided Barrel Looking for another valuable upgrade while you’re tinkering? Get a gold nitrided barrel for your P365.
While a titanium-nitrided barrel won’t improve handling, necessarily, it will be a lot easier to clean.
This is because titanium nitride is exceptionally hard and offers excellent permanent dry lubricity. Fouling, dust, and oil just do not want to stick to it, making it much easier to clean off.
Even if that were not the case, this barrel has a loaded chamber indicator which offers another benefit.
And, if you don’t need any other reason, it’s an easy and affordable way to customize your P365 and add some color - especially if you trick it out with a gold pinky rest.
Where Can You Get These (and Other) Sig Sauer P365 Accessories? Looking for Sig Sauer P365 accessories like these? Visit Anarchy Outdoors via the previous link. They carry pink extensions and nitrided barrels for P365 handguns as well as slide plates, grip modules, and holsters, among many other high-quality aftermarket parts.
They also carry a wide range of other shooting accessories and firearms upgrade parts. Visit their website for more information or get in touch with them at 833-980-0333.

Living Nightmare | Esmée | 1.1 | RE: Bian, Luz, Yuliya, Perry, Theophania
Esmée had been far too silent, aside from the occasional scratching of her quill against the parchment in front of her. Taking notes as though she was in some hellish seminar rather than in the midst of the trial, yet this back and forth was beginning to annoy her
“Everytime I hear Mark and Gun Gun I feel like I’m going to lose it- Ugh. Anyway.”
She places the quill down, stretching her wrists as she stares out amidst the group. She wasn’t suited for this conversation, she wasn’t suited for investigation - and yet she was here. Dumped into a place she was completely unqualified for, stuck until someone else died, and then they’d have to repeat the process again. It made her eye twitch.
“If we’re going on about where we were- I’ve already been cleared but it can just be like…I dunno. Shed light on other movements and all. Yuli is right, I was sleeping from about 9 PM to 11 PM. I uh…tried not to wake her though. Sorry.”
Tumblr media
“I then went to the library, around liiiike. 11:06? Anyway, Vee, Theophania, Harriet and Frank were all there. I grabbed some books on stamina training so I could teach Nao better and pissed off. I left the library about 11:30 ish.”
“Saw Germain exit the lounge- then when I got to the dining hall I saw 19, she did just go in and out but she gave me a wave. So- that confirms what she said. Then I just sat down with my books to read, got interrupted by the murder announcement, so the books were left there.”
There, that was her alibi done. Yet it did nothing to make her feel less irritated, it just cleared her name. Her life was still on the line if they fucked up and got this wrong.
“So the question we’re stumped on is who’s Mark and Who’s Gun. Right? That’s it? And we’re thinking Both can be Francis. ‘Least that’s what Luz said and I’d say that could make sense- I mean.”
A glance to Bian.
“There was a gun on the scene. It was not too far from Francis’ right hand, there was a discarded gun there. A flintlock pistol I think- which is where Gun Gun comes into play. It’s loaded, but the barrel was cold. It hadn’t been fired. Again makes sense, we all woulda heard it if she fired the damn thing. But there- explanation I came up with was taken in self defence. But if we’re on the Francis set the trap up herself train, she could’ve taken it to deter someone from going in. Like, in case someone showed up while she was setting the trap up, it was a Plan B.”
Francis seemed prepared enough to have backup plans, right? Esmée simply huffed a bit as Theophania talked.
“See. Order. So she would’ve been prepared in case something went wrong. Uh…that being said like- the domains are intrinsically connected to us. You’re right there. But the way in which they are connected varies so much we might wanna connect other proof together first. Before we just throw out accusations, it’s an idea we can build on but has flaws. It IS our lives on the line here.”

Newfoundland and Labrador paints rosy financial picture with budget
Newfoundland and Labrador is hoping to eliminate its deficit in the next two fiscal years.
The $9.8-billion provincial budget tabled today projects a $160-million deficit for the 2023-24 fiscal year, and a return to black the year after.
It says the province recorded a $784-million surplus for the fiscal year ending March 31, with a record revenue of $10.5 billion.
Health care dominates the spending outlined in today's budget, with $3.9 billion in total investments for things such as new family care centres across Newfoundland.
The government is also expecting $1.1 billion in revenue from the four oilfields off the coast of St. John's, based on an average oil price of US $86 a barrel.
The provincial net debt is expected to hit $16.2 billion, which works out to approximately $30,500 per person in the province of about 531,000 people.

What’s in Store for Oil Stocks After the Latest IEA Forecast?
The stock markets have had a shaky start in 2023, fuelled further by the routing of Adani shares with the release of the scathing Hindenburg report. Not far behind, various commodities, such as oil, have had a shaky start, as the jury is still out on China’s recovery.
The IEA Report
Against this backdrop, the IEA has released its monthly report stating a rise in global demand for oil by two million barrels per day, which will take the world's oil consumption to 101.9 million bbl. Even more so, it expects the oil markets to see a surplus as the Russian supply continues to be robust.
With China opening its doors again and the USA all set to refill its strategic reserves, the oil demand will remain buoyant in the first half of 2023. However, this may change after June, with the kicking in of the sanctions on Russian oil.
Moreover, monetary tightening and recessionary fears may play a spoilsport for future oil demand. Besides, Russia has announced its plans to cut down oil output by a million barrels per day (bbl/d), against the IEA’s initial estimates of 1.6 million bbl/d.
But how will it pan out for oil stocks in India?
The Fortune Favours the Oil Conglomerate
With the oil demand set to hit a record high in FY23, refining margins could improve significantly, benefiting Reliance Industries (RIL). Besides, RIL’s SEZ refinery is already exempt from the levy of windfall taxes and additional excise duty (SAED) charges.
Moreover, refiners have seen their margins squeezed owing to the waning diesel spreads. This has been aggravated by the EU’s decision to build its stockpile before the sanctions on Russian gas and oil go into effect. The rise in demand, complemented by slower refinery throughput, will bode well for refining margins.
OMCs’ Stars Lack Sheen
But these positives are unlikely to flow for oil-marketing companies (OMCs) that are already reeling under heavy losses from 2022. This is because, despite an elevation in crude prices, the Indian government forced their hand by not allowing for a corresponding rise in retail prices.
Subsequently, while the PSU OMCs (HPCL, BPCL, and IOCL) did experience strong top lines in FY22, their bottom lines left a lot to be desired. This was reflected in the 20% and 10% drops in HPCL and BPCL share prices in the last year, respectively.
On an aggregate level, OMCs have already posted losses exceeding Rs. 27,000 crore in the first six months of FY23. This is despite the moderation in oil prices over the strong Russian supply and the EU’s stockpiling efforts. They have stated under-recoveries totalling Rs. 1.1 lakh crores from petrol and diesel sales that have been cross-subsidised with ATF and naphtha sales.
Having said that, BPCL may still be able to post better performance, considering its high refining-to-marketing ratio. Moreover, relative to its peers, BPCL has better ROCE fundamentals.
Additionally, IOC’s shares may remain resilient, as its business model is more refining-driven vis-à-vis HPCL and BPCL, thereby making its fortunes less dependent on marketing margins. But heavy debt pileups—the IOC’s gross debt went up by 30%—can be a cause for concern.
Finally, with the nation set to go to elections next year, the chances of retail price hikes seem bleak, which can further dampen the shine of oil companies in the stocks market.

Stocks rise as data tempers recession worries
KEY POINTS:
Fed funds futures price U.S. rates higher for longer
Stocks focus on economic signals and climb
Stocks rose on Thursday as recent economic data from around the world fed hopes that the global economy might not face as hard a landing as feared a few months ago, even as interest rates threaten to remain higher for longer than expected.
France's CAC 40 PX1 hit a record, up 1.1% as investors bet on more demand for luxury goods from China as it comes out of its strict COVID-19 curbs.
Louis Vuitton owner LVMH MC, Europe's largest company by market value, was up 0.7%, while Kering KER and Pernod Ricard RI were among the biggest boosts to the pan-European STOXX 600.
London's FTSE 100 UK100 continued its recent run of record highs thanks to with a flurry of share buybacks from banks that lifted their shares.
MSCI's all-country world price index IIACWI rose 0.2%, set for a gain of more than 1% this week and on track to recover last week's losses.
"What is becoming clearer... is that the U.S. economy in particular has been very resilient and so as a result, the market is sort of pricing out this risk of a hard landing at least in the short term," said Julien Lafargue, chief market strategist at Barclays Private Bank.
"People are feeling a bit better about getting invested. It is positioning that is driving the market, because if you have people who are positioned more for recession and the data... is telling you well, it's not going to be as bad as you think, that forces people into the market."
Risk assets generally got a boost on Thursday.
U.S. stock futures, however, pointed to a lower open on Wall Street as investors braced for monthly producer prices data. Producer prices are seen having climbed by 0.4% in January on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.4% fall in the previous month.
The greenback cut some losses, but was still below six-week highs against the yen, yuan and kiwi.
Benchmark 10-year Treasury yields US10Y, which rise when bond prices fall, hit their highest since the start of the year earlier in the day, but subsequently retreated and were last unchanged on the day at 3.805%.
Only a couple of weeks ago U.S. interest rate futures (0#FF:) implied the Fed funds rate, currently fixed between 4.5% and 4.75%, would drop below 4.5% by year's end. They now flag rates above 5% through the year. (FEDWATCH)
Two-year Treasury yields (US2YT=RR), which also track short-term interest rate expectations, hit their highest since November at 4.703% overnight.
Other central bankers on the radar for the day are Bank of England chief economist Huw Pill, Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem and Fed officials James Bullard and Loretta Mester.
DOLLAR ASCENDANT
While equities keep climbing, the repricing of the interest rate outlook is putting the brakes on a couple of months of selling of the dollar.
The U.S. dollar index DXY, which was roughly flat on the day at 103.8, is eyeing a third weekly gain in a row - the longest streak since September, when the index was galloping towards a 20-year high.
The dollar made a six-week high of 134.36 yen USDJPY on Wednesday and hovered at 133.915 on Thursday. It eased a little on the euro EURUSD to $1.0692.
In commodity markets, Brent crude futures BRN1! were up modestly at $85.54 a barrel. Gold GOLD, which pays no income and has been dragged down by rising Treasury yields, inched up to $1,839 an ounce.
