1. Try to think up alternatives to cuss words, especially when writing canon characters, knowing that the only character to actually swear in game is Ikora (who, honestly, is probably the person you’d least expect from unless you know her background, but even then...)

2. Read lore for inspiration.

3. Discover that the phrase “What in the Traveler’s crack” is a legitimate curse/exclamation (fucking love you, Lady Efrideet).

4. Proceed to laugh because honestly that is better than anything I could come up with.

//I must apologise for not being active of late here. I’ve been so obsessed with Destiny 2 of late, especially since getting my gf into it. I’ve been playing the heck out of the Season of Arrivals and demolishing whole entire fireteams in Scorched without batting an eyelid so there’s that.

And if I’m not destroying Hive with my Hunter, annihilating Fallen with my Titan and obliterating other Guardians with my Warlock, I’m also currently writing a collection of Destiny lore-style fanfics which is quite fun.

I’m honestly debating turning this blog into a kinda multi-muse blog featuring my Guardians because I’d love to rp with them and it would help me get their voices down a bit better but we’ll see if I can pull myself away from gaming long enough to do that XD.

//Was playing on Clash in the Crucible on Destiny 2 last night.

I ended up pretty much single handedly fucking the entire enemy fireteam, including two Arcstrider Hunters mid-super.

I am firmly in camp ‘Anti-Hard Light’ and I do believe this gun needs to be nerfed, but until then, if you can’t beat them, join them. With a side helping of Mobius Quiver Shadowshot.

//I dunno why, considering we know next to nothing about Zavala’s Ghost, but I always headcanoned them as being called Victory or maybe even Nike (who is the Greek goddess of victory).

And she (they’re female in my mind okay?) does take her duties seriously, but she’s a little more carefree than Zavala and tries not to let things get to her or her Guardian (the one piece of lore where Zavala’s Ghost actually speaks, they basically catch him worrying about the Red War and tell him to stop doing it, so).

She would also have a mischievous side (though not to Sundance’s extent) and on the rare occasions Zavala breaks into humour, it’s his Ghost that has suggested it.

Wash’s recovery comes along in surprising leaps and bounds, and just over a week later, he is discharged. Grey is careful to warn you that he still has a long road ahead of him, that some things may never fully heal. You know that more than anyone, dear Carolina, but you keep silent, let Grey explain. It’s easier to make peace with it that way.

He is released into your care, and you are determined not to fuck things up this time. You actually take the time to read up about Cerebral Hypoxia. You ask Grey questions whenever the need arises. You insist Wash moves into your hotel room with you - because it makes sense, you tell the others. That’s not exactly a lie, but who are you kidding, Agent Carolina, you know better than that, and it’s only a matter of time before everyone else catches on…

You manage well enough in the hotel. Everything is close by and familiar, so Wash doesn’t get lost whenever he wanders out for a walk and the Reds and Blues can visit whenever they want. There’s also a nice park nearby where you can take a jog when things with Wash get a little… too much to handle, despite your best efforts not to try and let it get to you. After all, Grey had warned you that was a possibility.

But you weren’t going to do this alone, not this time. As you had told your past self, you had friends to be strong for now, and they would be strong for you, in turn. Things would still be difficult, of this you had no doubt. The worthwhile things always were. And Wash, you decide as you softly gaze at his form napping in a chair across from you, is definitely a worthwhile person to fight for.

You will take comfort in that piece of knowledge gladly.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS.

Hair colour: Black with Red highlights Eye colour: Emerald Green (milky green in blind eye) Skintone: Light tan, tends to pale a little if she’s been in her armour a long time. Body type: Toned, heavy boned, kind of androgynous in appearance, even more so in armour. Dominant hand: Right for those rare writing situations, but trained ambidextrous. Posture: Depends on the situation, but mostly arms folded across her chest and casual, possibly leaning on a wall if the situation is really relaxed. Will fold her arms behind her back and stand up straighter in more formal situations. Rarely stands completely straight and to attention unless ordered. Regardless of the situation and her posture, however, she is always ready to leap into action; something that almost always takes others by surprise. Most noticeable feature: Height (for a woman), facial scars and tattoo, blind left eye.

CHILDHOOD.

First words: Ally (as in her brother, Alistar) Siblings: Alistar Harwell (deceased), technically most of the House of Vadam (honourary). She considers her AI, Dias Darrow (aka Digamma), somewhat a sibling too, but their relationship is a little complex. Parents: Evonne Harwell (nee Boardman; mother), Henry Harwell (father) - both deceased Parental involvement: Her mother was killed when she was two, so she was mostly brought up by her father (and brother, when he was older), who was very caring and protective of her, but was often busy trying to keep the family afloat. Unfortunately, her father was also killed in her early teens, meaning that her brother was the closest thing she had to a father while growing up. Even before their father passed, Cali was close to her brother and was devastated when he was killed. Even decades on, though she recalls her father’s wisdom, it is her brother she misses and recalls the most. She also regrets not being able to know her mother.

ADULT LIFE.

Occupation: Mercenary, occasionally plays ambassador between the UNSC and the Swords of Sanghelios, and between the Swords of Sanghelios and any rogue Covenant splinter factions. Current residence: No permanent place of residence as such, unless you count the Pelican dropship she flies in from place to place. She’ll moor up on larger ships for travelling longer distances or space stations if she needs a base to launch from, but she does not like to stay long in one place unless she has to. She only goes planetside if a contract demands it, or when visiting Sanghelios. Close friends: Her AI is probably the closest friend she has left that hasn’t betrayed or abandoned her at this point. She’s also reasonably close with Carolina and Wash. Her and Thel ‘Vadam are professionally close; they do have personal conversations sometimes and both respect each others’ skills, but their relationship is business most of the time. All other friends are verse dependent. Relationship status: Single for the most part, though it does depend on the verse. Driver’s license: No, but she can drive. Thing is, would you want her to? On a side note, she is a registered pilot, though she can’t fly without her AI helping her. Criminal record: Technically no, as she faked her own death. Otherwise she’d be wanted for her activities during Project Freelancer, as well as theft of PFL/UNSC property (her armour, weapons and AI). She’s was also in breach of the Cole Protocol when it was a thing while she was in possession of her Energy Sword/Great Key during her time as a Freelancer, though this matter wasn’t officially recorded.

SEX AND ROMANCE.

Sexual orientation: Pansexual Romantic orientation: Demiromantic Relationship tendencies: Tends not to allow herself to get too emotionally attached to others due to her past experiences of losing people she was close to. In the unlikely event of a relationship starting to blossom, Cali tends to be cautious, almost to the extreme, not because she doesn’t trust her partner but because she’s... been through a lot. She is selfless and had to rely on herself much of her life so having someone care about and want to support her goes against her very nature. She’s not really one to open up either; again, not out of trust issues but due to painful experiences. Patience is key with Cali here; if she opens up (not just romantically either here), consider it an honour, and if you value your life, don’t ever do anything to betray that trust.

MISCELLANEOUS.

Unless practicing her sword skills counts? Mental illness(es): C-PTSD and PTSD (not officially diagnosed but she definitely shows signs). She also shows signs of survior’s guilt. Previously had issues controlling her temper but that has mellowed out for the most part. Just don’t piss her off. She does her level best to conceal all of this however and you wouldn’t know she had anything wrong with her mentally unless you knew what to look for. Physical illness(es): Not an illness per se but she is blind in her left eye. Part of her right hand is also prosthetic.
