#overall better in the dub tbh
Text
what really went wrong with v force villains imo:
I really think the villains were the major issue in the season I mean like, it could’ve definitely worked out with a little better writing.
-the villains shouldn’t be team rocket villains (aka Gideon) they genuinely need to scare the heck out of you like Boris did
-the redeeming factor however about Gideon and his people was Wyatt’s arc. Dub or Sub, both the consequences showed us how much of a fucked up world those teenagers were living in and kai’s actions during his match with Goki showed us how much it affected him.
-also about Kane and Salima: Tyson vs Kane was good because 1) Kane was genuinely losing his shit and it was scary 2) Tyson was literally about to die (could have been executed better) 3) salima was screaming for Kane while Jim was laughing like a psychotic bitch and Goki was literally crying. So you know, it was psychotic as hell and I liked it tbh.
But the rest??? Like the island arc was??? It could have been executed so much better.
-also like ep 4 they were legit trying to kill Kenny and Hilary like…make that more serious buddy because it was no joke+why do they always cover up how anxious Tyson was? His battle stats were like 0 at that point and he was barely able to summon dragoon + he was humiliated in front of his hometown……he was obviously at his worst and for him to be the one saving both of them….why is that not serious?
-Overall saint shields and dr. Zagart and Zeo were good. The end-of-the-season tension remained. A little more angst overall and I think I could take Gideon a lil more seriously lol. And dr. K I forgot about her.
-king and queen were good for the amount of screen time they got
Still takes me sometime to realise that ep 4 was no joke but the writing made it look like one at some points.
It could have definitely been better if they showed us the consequences like we saw with Boris and all(they only showed Wyatt). You saw children getting thrown into fucking cells and going through some psychotic hanging above snakes training. The dub never showed us the cell part so as a kid I genuinely thought that Alexander (dunno his original name) was executed. Thanks dub. Oh yeah let’s not forget about Bryan killing people.

Gotta say, now that I'm watching the dub to Bucchigiri, I think it's pretty good, and even tries to clear things up in the dialogue, though not to the high standard of SK8's dub since there's no real standouts like David Wald's performance as ADAM.
The closest though has to be Ricco Fajardo's performance as Matakara. I've been following his roles for a decade now, and I'm impressed by his range across the shows he stars in and he manages to demonstrate that range so well here. Inversely, it's Arajin's VA who's new to voice acting, since this is his first major lead role in a dub.
Also a shout out to Shindo's dub VA for playing his first villain role in years and just delighting in chewing the scenery. It really sounds like he's enjoying this.
Yeah I caught a few of the dub clips on X/Twitter and while I do think that the dub cast isn’t as strong as the ones in SK8 (I WILL GET INTO THE SERIES SOON I PROMISE BUT NOT RIGHT NOW), I don’t mind it as I rather let some new talents shine and see how they perform in the long run. Well most of them are names I never heard of with maybe a few exception (Senya, Mahoro, Akutaro, Ichiya and Matakara).
So I’ll give out my opinions on some of the dub cast:
Arajin (Alex Mai): He isn’t bad by any means. I do like how in Episode 2, he made the scene where Arajin is forcibly pulled by Senya funnier than the original. Can’t wait to hear more of his performance.
Matakara (Ricco Fajardo): I only heard him a few times as Matakara but it is decent. It sounds close to his performance as Pandreo in FE Engage but with a much more mellow tone to it. (I don’t know how would Ricco tackle Corrupted!Matakara but I’ll just wait and see once all episodes are up) It’s a shame he doesn’t even mention or like any BUCCHIGIRI?! posts when I felt that it was a pretty decent role he has (tho then again not every VA’s are chronically online)
Mahoro (Lindsey Seidel): She’s ok so far. But I do think her raspy voice when showing her spiteful side felt a little off compared to the original VA where she just lower a few octaves or so but it’s still an okay-ish performance so far.
Marito (Kieran Fullton)- For a new-ish VA, his performance for Marito is just as close to the Japanese performance. I like how he balances out Marito’s playful side but also his sneakiness in some parts such as in the scene of Episode 2 where he asked Matakara about Arajin’s whereabouts before he gleefully says he is going to make him join Siguma.
Senya (Chris Guerrero)- I agent heard much but he does seem to act out the best he can. The part in Episode 2 where he managed to perfectly replicate the performance in the original where Senya is acting like a meow meow is just 👌🏻
Zabu (Daniel Van Thomas)- I think he’s ok but I do have certain issues in that I felt that his voice felt way too deep for a 16-17 year old boy. Still, it’s a decent performance but I preferred the original better (Sorry 😅)
Komao (James Marler)- I think he’s ok from the few clips I’ve seen, almost as close to the JP VA performance but still having some few differences here and there.
Outa (Wyatt Baker)- Can’t say much tbh. (Sorry)
Jabashiri (Alex Hom)- He’s alright so far. I only heard a bit of him back in Apothecary Diaries so it’s a bit surprising he was chosen to play Jabashiri.
Hagure (Van Barr Jr.)- Can’t say much tbh but I do like some of his performances from the few clips I caught of him.
Akutaro (Aaron Dismuke)- I do like his performance as Akutaro, sounds almost close to the original as well esp in that clip in Episode 6 where he ‘thanked’ the whole of Minato Kai and Siguma Squad for being close to his goal.
Overall, those are just my thoughts on the dub VA performance.

✨ people I wanna know better! ✨
Tagged by the lovely @roxannes-love-letters thank you, hun!! 💗🥰
Last Song? I got into Sabaton recently (like, two days ago 😂) and went for a greatest hits playlist on spotify yesterday to check more of their music, so the last song there was "In the Name of God". A really good listen, y'all definitely give it a go if you like heavier sound! I sure missed it.
Favourite colour? Violet! Or, I guess most people say purple, but for me it's the more blue-ish shade I associate with violet, and that's the one ^^
Currently watching? Nothing much, I'm not exactly a tv shows person, and if I end up watching one, I usually binge it (which hasn't happened since Kinnporsche: the series tbh), so for now it's mostly gameplays and let's plays on yt or streams of games Im interested in ^^
Last movie? Oh, I can finally answer this! 😂 I actually caught up on three movies I wanted to watch for quite some time last week. The last-last was Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which hasn't sucked me in quite as much as I was expecting until the back half of the movie (tbf I usually watch animations with polish dub and this I watched in original, so maybe that had smth to do with it too?), but overall a very lovely movie and the ending was *chef's kiss* and two days earlier I caught up on John Wick Chapter 4 (Hiroyuki Sanada's parts were Amazing and absolutely my fave in the whole movie 💗💗 yes, Im biased, sorry not sorry xD) and I Finally watched Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among thieves too and y'all... Y'ALL, it was so good 😩👌 I LOVE IT! You can feel so much heart went into it, the humor was super fun, the characters Lovely, it Really felt like a DnD session in play and Holga my absolute beloved 💗 It actually managed to jerk a few tears out of me too 😂 Overall such a lovely movie, absolutely give it a watch if any of y'all hadn't already, it's definitely worth its time 💗 (Also, I'm surprisingly in the mood to catch up on some more movies, any recs anyone? ^^)
Sweet/spicy/savoury? Hm, out of these options, probably savoury. I've been trying to accustom myself to more spicy dishes too and it's slow going, but so far I'm liking that more and more too ^^
Relationship status? Single. Have been for years, unfortunately 😔 I miss having that sort of connection with someone terribly, but so far, no luck.
Current obsessions? Sad to report Im lacking a proper brain rot rn 😔 It was Astarion from BG3 for a while, but I kinda fell off the game after making a 100h in a couple weeks and now Im searching for a proper obsession again. There IS this new survival-building LotR-themed game but I Really don't need another one I'll play for a week or two and abandon forever, not to mention I shouldn't chip away at my savings any more than I absolutely have to now that I'm not working. So... We'll see if I'll cave in or not 😂 (for now I got Shadow of Mordor on sale so I might finally check it out tonight, who knows!)
Last thing you googled? Sabaton - 40:1 'cause I wanted to check the lyrics (and it's currently among my faves from Sabaton and no, not only because it's about polish history! it's just that good ^^)
Selfie? I'll do you one even better! Look at our lovely pupper:
Tumblr media
It's an older photo, but shhhh, no one has to know! And she's still looking good ^^ (better even, without the eye buggers!)
Friends I wanna get to know better: @dual-desires @fleet-off @asexualannoyance @the-cookie-of-doom @theflowergirl @livingbythewords @oenothera5 (This is no pressure tagging as always!)

Hi dudes! So I've been rewatching/thinkin about some old short faves that I feel like don't get enough attention so I thought I'd rec some anime if anyone's looking for somethin good to watch and why.
Dororo (2019) - 1 season
Criminally underrated. Literally only one season so you should watch it. It's got Demon Slayer vibes so if you like that, I'd give it a try.
Tumblr media
Hellsing Ultimate (2006) - 1 season
Tbh I didn't really like it until I forced myself to watch the whole thing. It's got a funky animation style but the characters are really unique and it's a fun watch. Plus Universal Studios made it for some reason??? Also VERY gory tho just a warning.
Tumblr media
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (2016) - 1 season + movie
I will fight for this one til my grave. I don't pick favorites. Nevermind I do. It's this one. It's like Attack on Titan except on a train. Never had a show where I've liked every single character. Except Mumei she sucks.
Tumblr media
Death Parade (2015) - 1 season
It's cute and sad. Plus it's got a mystery.
Tumblr media
Burn the Witch (2020)
Literally like 3 eps. How can you not watch it? I've seen this spike a little bit on Tumblr. But not near as much as it should. Made by the same guy who created Bleach.
Tumblr media
Ghost Stories Dub (2001) - 1 season
Ok this show is terrible in every possible way. Very offensive but also very hilarious. I think what happened is basically it tanked in Japan so they just gave it to an American dub studio and said do whatever you want. So it doesn't follow the original dialog. Even better that way tho.
Tumblr media
Fate/Zero (2011) - 2 Seasons
Ok I know the Fate saga is really popular but also like, noone talks about it??? I haven't watched all of them because the watch order is confusing af but this one is a prequel so it can stand on its own. Good characters overall.
Tumblr media
Vinland Saga (2019) - 1 Season Cont.
Again popular but also not popular? It's a good one to watch if you wanna dip your toes into anime without just jumping full on into the weird shows 😂 Plus season 2 is coming soon! 🥳
Tumblr media
Ok that's all I got so far. I'll add more if I think any or please comment some recs too! Peace out ✌️

ok weeb moment ig but you all know how much I enjoy g.host in the shell and how much I love B.atou. tbh even my dad is like yeah. it's a type for you.
I'm watching G/host in the Shell SAC_2045 right now. The animation really gets an upgrade in s2 even though I would overall have preferred it not to be this cg kinda animation :/ I will take what I can get though but it would be so much better to look at and feel more like a continuation of the original SAC if it was 2D!! I watch this in english dub cause the voices are so familiar and comforting to me hahaha
I miss B.atou's ponytail though </3. I heard from other reviews that Purin was gonna be annoying but tbh I relate so much to her crush on B.atou it just felt like targeted light hearted ribbing LOL like same? honestly getting me/C.able vibes from their interactions HAHAHA :')
EDIT ok so I saved this to drafts and then kept watching and we do see B.atou with ponytail in a flashback but it's major spoilery stuff :') Everytime I'm watching gits media I'm always falling in love with his old ass!

back in your ask box!!! i watched your final thoughts for yakuza 1 video (well done on being able to stand some of the glitches like god) and i was wondering if you had any more that you forgot to say or didn’t think of in the moment? i just really love hearing people’s final thoughts on game or other piece of media
That video ended up getting WAY sappier than I expected in the end but I seriously should've seen it coming TBH. I'm a sappy person at heart and anyway let's not get too sidetracked.
So I will say I definitely forgot to mention the camera. Having no control over the camera does mess with me quite a bit. Because Kiryu will turn around and you'll notice in the videos I uploaded of fights-he sometimes just stops hitting enemies. They're gone. Lots of times enemies would get stuck behind wall and other objects. I was also constantly checking the map in the menu itself, because I kept getting directions mixed up.
Not a game breaker, does make for some intense awkwardness. (Some of it's my own fault, I am hardly the gaming champion around here ahaha)
Combat got repetitive. My own fault because as I said in the video, I didn't finish Komaki's training thanks to the input issue. I had other skills I developed too, but I wasn't ever remembering to pull it off. So I didn't vary it to the degree I could've.
At the ending, I was going to finish the hostesses but I messed myself up there because you have Haruka permanently in the endgame. And her bond with Kiryu decreases if he goes to those places (it dropped when I bought weapons at Beam) and I feel bad making her sad so that was my own issue.
There is one place where the original game is better than Kiwami that is..going to probably be a 'hot take' but-not having Majima ambush you every twenty seconds makes for a less stressful game experience overall. You can get from point A to point B with only the standard street goons (which are VERY persistent you can barely get around the block without at least two ambushes: and they have bigger enemies that are in larger groups) but those fights are fairly quick, and pay well!
Majima, meanwhile, can seriously drag out. It's not as bad in the beginning but you'll come up to the end of Kiwami like "please..just one break..I do not have any more healing items."
For RGG'S first game out of the gate, it's good. I enjoyed it more than I expected too. It's all the same elements I love with Yakuza (as I had sapped about in the video) and the characters are recognizable, even in this rougher around the edges stage.
The dub itself is a strange point. As I said, again in the video, I've done some digging on it. The localization is considered decent, (apparently 'hit some balls' is translated as accurately as it could be) but that excessive swearing really shoves it into the 'trying to hard B movie' stuff. HOWEVER.
It has a GOOD cast and there's times where it's done really well. I don't have the kind of professional experience to claim someone is 'phoning in a performance'. I can't make that call. Not all line deliveries are very good, and there's some odd changes between how characters talk from beginning to end. There was one point near the end where Kiryu delivered a couple lines and sounded like a completely different person?? It was odd.
Directing is where it really shows. I feel like with the voices behind it, and the localization team, had it been given better directing, it would've been a bit I guess. stronger? I feel it's important to keep in mind too with it being the first game (and RGG wasn't some triple A studio back in the day either) they did pretty good.
;)
The games good! It's fun, it's recognizable. and I honestly think that if I had gone into Yakuza with this as my first game, I'd still be here. I got into Yakuza via Yakuza 0 and have since gone through the entire series. It's very important and special to me and I genuinely enjoyed Yakuza 1 more than I expected.
I didn't anticipate hating it, of course. But I was still a little surprised regardless since it is so infamous in the fandom. My only regret is that unless you own a PS2 or a really good emulator, so many people can't play it. Which is a shame overall. That's not unique to this and Kiwami, the remake is out there and known. But still. Sometimes I get a little sad about how hard game preservation has gotten.

Giving my opinions on the Disventure Camp Cast cause why tf not, going from least fav to fav
Spoilers for Eliminations!
Tumblr media
Yul: he pisses me off,,, he’s rude, nasty, racist,, and overall just shitty. Never understood the appeal for his character. Although I do like his VA (dub and sub) and design.
Karol: she was cut too early to properly form an opinion, I do like her though. I thought her soft spot for animals was sweet.
Oliver: he’s boring. I genuinely don’t understand the hype around this guy
Maggy: I like maggy! And I love how she stood up for herself in her elimination. That was rad,, however her timid personality does get on your nerves a bit. Anyway Kaggy for life
Connor: his arc was good, I like him! Nothing else more to say.
Riya: YESSSSS GIRLBOSS I LOVE HER! I cant wait for them to develop her character more!
Lake: I love her character arc! However sometimes it can be a bit in your face at times. Other than that I love her!
James: slimy bitch,, I love him and I hope he gets development. I can tell his character is going in a good direction.
Hunter: ok this man gets WAYYYYY to much hate. A lot of people said he was starting to get full of himself in episode 6, but honestly I never saw it like that. The way I view it is Hunter is awkward as fuck and already stressed out that 2 chicks like him, of course he’d be nervous about a third. He’s a GOOD CHARACTER. He’s quite smart, and super supportive and kind to Ally and Tess. Also he has one of the best voices in the show.
Rosa Maria: I LOVE THIS WOMEN SO MUCH Y’ALK DON’T UNDERSTANDDDD. The teen mother representation is actually really awesome, and it’s portrayed quite realistically with the way it’s been told so far. She’s super sweet, kind, and loyal to her friends. This women needs more love.
Ally: She’s so sweet and kind- I love her friendship with Tess and her crush on Hunter. Tbh I really hope we get some poly representation and it better be done well or istg,, anyways. She’s a super fun character.
Tess: Yup, Tess is my favourite out of the love triangle. She’s actually a super good representation of someone who suffers from depression, like her interaction with Hunter in episode 3 and her breakdown with Ally in episode 6. Her design is also super pretty, we love that for her.
Kai:
Number 15, Burger King foot lettuce-
Fr tho Kai is just so funny and a really neat support character. Also I absolutely love how he stuck up to Yul in episode 3, we fucking love that for our king. I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, Kaggy 👏 for👏EVER👏
Aiden: yes, aiden is my favourite character, cry about it. He’s popular for good reason.
1. His design and voice are easily the best in the show
2. He’s a nice person
3. He don’t take shit from nobody and we love that
I wish I had the confidence aiden has,, like deadass is not afraid to say it like it is and we love that for him.

Tbh they missed very closely with English dub, before discovering One Piece I was deeply into Infamous Second Son where Delsin looks somewhat like modern AU Ace and voiced by Troy Baker, and Travis Willingham (who voiced dub Ace) did Delsin's overly serious elder cop brother, and when I first heard the dub it was a huge mismatch for me. And Troy Baker's voice matches Ace's Japanese seiyuu and overall personality much better
Troy Baker voicing Ace…. Hmm. Idk it could work but i think the pitch aint it

I'm not sure if you ever gave a review and no pressure at all but how did you like Infinite Wealth? I am almost done with it and I am curious what you think of it after so so much hype. I have largely enjoyed it though there are some things I have not loved
SPOILERS for those reading this
Bryce was such a lame villain even if I usually like cult villains but with so many villains it felt really crowded. I want to like Ebina and I like him more than Bryce but his twist felt lame especially given what we knew about Arakawa. I LOVE Yamai but it all felt so crowded.
But overall I love the game play and the characters and I have cried multiple times. But yeah, I miss really good villains like Aoki. Also I developed a really strong soft spot toward Sawashiro in the game
Yeah, the villains were easily the weakest part of the game. Tbh it was kind of a mixed bag for me overall lol. Especially since Gaiden was so fucking good and Y8 manages to cock up a lot of the best story parts of Gaiden. Hanawa getting killed off so unceremoniously after all the buildup and characterization he had was unsatisfying as fuck.
I also think Bryce would have worked better in the Japanese version by having his English lines be spoken by the dub voice actor because holy fuck, any characterization and actual intimidation flies out the window when you hear this white American fella speaking lines by a seiyuu who is NOT pulling off the English voice lines.
Joon-gi was basically stapled onto the story at the very end and it sucks since I really liked his character (the real Joon-gi in 6 and the agent in 7). He also got nerfed in terms of skills but considering how busted Kiryu is it kinda evens out.
Also regarding the Memories of Kamurocho, RGG TEAM IS RYUJI ALIVE OR NOT, HOW ARE YOU STILL TEASING THIS MOTHERFUCKER BEING ALIVE AND NOT DOING ANYTHING WITH IT
The gameplay is easily the biggest improvement and my favorite class was Kunoichi! It was also awesome to have Seonghee as a party member and getting to know more about her. Also I still think Saeko/Seonghee is a better ship than Ichiban/Saeko but I don't take shipping bullshit that seriously lol
The final boss was just a damage sponge, but the soundtrack was fucking great. Though I don't know why Saejima, Majima, and Daigo even show up when all they do is help in one mob of basic enemies and do nothing in the final fight. Ebina already sucks as a character but having the three of them come in during stages of the fight as strikers or assists would have been better so they actually like. Contributed as opposed to just standing there
Yamai is the best new character and the fact they end the story with him back in Japan makes me hopeful that he'll come back in future games. Though I'm a little worried he'll suffer from the same problem as Ichiban who...Look, Ichiban is a great character, but after LAD and his personal arc, IW would up with him being very static and I'm a little worried about his staying power as a protagonist. If each game just has him trusting everyone, staying optimistic af and never straying from that it'll get a bit old yk? Also I personally feel like end of 7!Ichiban would forgive Eiji as quickly and easily as he does in 8, he should have struggled with it at least a little. The dude threw a child down a flight of stairs, tied to a wheelchair for fuck's sake. He almost felt like a parody of himself in some spots, and that vibe carried through a lot of 8 for me in a way that I really didn't like.
As for the story, I feel like Yokoyama needs someone on staff to wrangle him the way Hideo Kojima does. 5 and 8 both have plots that kinda go off the rails and are messes regarding pacing.
Kiryu has a great sendoff and as someone who's had family members pass away from cancer, seeing him at the end in the wheelchair looking so frail was heartbreaking. But the fact he finally has his family back and is with Haruka again makes me so happy. He deserves to rest. Like in Gaiden, you see just how much it hurt him to be separated from them--I was bawling when he broke down seeing the kids at his grave and saw Haruto's drawing. And 8 kiiiinda lessens the impact of that plot point since he gets to see some of the kids in the end, but I am happy and satisfied with him reuniting with Haruka. The fact it was at the last second of the game and the actual reunion happened offscreen was kind of a letdown but still. Good end for Kiryu.
So if I had to TL:DR, Infinite Wealth is a delicious brownie in the parts where it's actually baked properly. A lot of spots are undercooked as fuck though, but it's still quite good.

What are your fave English voice actors (or voice claims) for Sonic characters? I'm mostly interested in Rouge, Shadow and Sonic cause I wanna know which voices I should assign to them while reading your fics but feel free to list whoever else you'd like!
oh good question!! none of them are a perfect match for what's in my head tbh, but i'll list what's closest! i don't care if you imagine other voices tho, it's all abt having fun! this is just what i think of :> rouge - kind of a more laid-back version of caren manuel's voice for her? like, less inflection overall (IDK she's got a bit of a stoner voice in my head, for lack of a better term haha). i like lani minella's voice as well ^_^ shadow - jason griffith is definitely my favorite, followed by ryan in the snapcube dubs! sonic - there's no voice actors i dislike for sonic tbh! penny's voice in the snapcube dubs might be my favorite though, because it sounds more real and human compared to most of the others, or honestly i do love devon mack's take! as far as the more classic voice actors go tho, ryan drummond is probably my fav

About Sam🦇
Tumblr media
"Sam Manson, Aka Amity Park's "Ghost Girl" is well known for her love for the supernatural and paranormal, ESPECIALLY for Ghosts. She lives for all the crazy horror that happens around her town. Imagine how she feels that one of her BFF's a super cool ghost! She's always ready for an adventure with her friends, her motto, the crazier the better!"
Personality:
I know there's been ALOT of arguments about Sam's character, I figure we already know them. Point a lot of people see her to be very judgemental, selfish, hypocritical, causing trouble for her friends, especially Danny and have "I'm not like other girls" vibes. Tbh I think the main problem was that she just didn't have proper development. I think a lot of characters had that issue, not just her. Flaws and all she's a good character or atleast I think so. She cares a lot especially for her friends and what's right and I love that! With that said I am making some changes for my personal take.
A huge change is her idea on ghosts. While OG Sam said they're "too mainstream", my Sam LOVES GHOSTS!!!!
Another change is that she's on the more spontaneous, out there side, like(Mabel Pines, Marcy Wu, Louise Belcher, Anne Boonchuy, LMK Mei, Glitch Techs Miko, Luz Noceda, ROTTMNT April, Casey Jones/Foot recruit, Kid- Kid Cosmic, Molly McGee, NSR Mayday, Star Butterfly) vibes. She definentley vibes to Luz's "Us weirdos needs to stick together!" She is still unapologetically herself and wouldn't change herself for anyone. With that said is actually rather self concious of herself and secretly feels rather lonely, feeling distant from the people around her, being "too much or weird" for them, sometimes wishing she could fit in better with people. Atleast she has friends who like her the way she is.
For my version I also want her to be more focused on horror stuff, such as ghosts. I remember in ep 1 she thought they were "too mainstream". Scrapping that completely. I want this girl to be OBSESSED with ghosts. But at the same time her activism was a huge part of her character and I think that should stay. The main problem I think personally was her not properly learning better ways to get people to listen to her ideas.
My Sam-Klemper and Frostbite could remake all the polar ice caps, Lunch Lady could end world hunger and Sidney could straighten out the school system and how they tackle bullying!
My Sam's on the more immature, impulsive side and tends to dive head first into stuff. She doesn't take herself as seriously and like any kid doesn't always think things through. She'd be far more open to haunting pranks and goof around, doing crazy stuff.
I'm keeping her stubborn impulsive side. She's known for biting off more than she can chew and getting WAY ahead of herself in stuff, usually winding up into as well as cause some crazy trouble.
Overall she still has Sam's passion and care, I just also made her not as serious and more relaxed, open and unafraid to show how much she enjoys stuff, not caring if other people like it or not.
Facts:
Definetley keeping Grey DeLisle
Abilities-HUGE horror expert, huge occult expert, knowledge in nature stuff, chaotic smiling friends level energy, athleticism, agile, good fighter, knows self-defense, strong, creative, resourceful, confident, very motivated, comfortable with her own company, knows some natural medicines, good at sewing, cooking, can play the piano, ball dance, knows some ballet, multilingualism-knows Japanese(learned it so she can watch anime that don't have Eng Dub or Sub), likes to stay hopeful and never gives up for what's right!
Weaknesses- Reckless, stubborn, impulsive, tends to get WAY ahead of herself, has trouble talking about feelings, can be uintentionally insensitive, blunt, has trouble connecting with people, doesn't always think things through and tends to distract herself and get lost in her own world in order to avoid having to deal with her feelings and issues.
I see Sam make DIY horror themed art from recycled objects. Waste not want not.
Goes ALL out for Halloween🎃
Calls herself "gremlin" 😈 Has also been called "batgirl"🦇
Knows how to write in cursive.
Would LOVE stuff such as Ruby Gloom, TOH, Amphibia, Smiling Friends, Dead End:Paranormal Park, Final Space, TGAMG, Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss, etc.
Owns a sewing machine. Knows how to sew and knit. Perhaps learned from her grandma.
I can see half of her decor and stuff be made from recycled stuff she created herself.
Totally runs like Naruto.
Likes- A good chunk of what OG Sam liked, LOVES GHOSTS, hanging with Danny and Tucker, her grandma, when her parents aren't overbearing, Mother Nature, stormy weather, cult classics, night, stars, horror stuff, horror stories and media, animation, art, books, parkour, drawing, indie projects, webcomics, animals, conspiracy theories, testing out Tucker's inventions, stargazing with Danny, magic, bats, lizards, amphibians, insects and spiders, anything creepy, slime, classical literature, poems, the dark, thrift stores, explosions, antique and vintage stuff and people accepting her for who she is.

so. the ml movie huh. hm (big ol post with spoilers under this cut btw)
so after almost 10 years of being on this bug and cat train they finally get a big ol expensive movie and I think it was. fine? maybe? there's a lot going on here and while I don't think I can call it good and mean it I don't think it was the worst thing ever. a 6? out of 10 feels kinda right for me. got a lot to say here fwiw so buckle in if ya wanna read it all lol
main issue I feel is obviously them trying to adapt 5 seasons, each of which was dozens of hours at least, and a near decade of storytelling into a movie that doesn't even hit two hours. no idea why - I imagine the money ran out tbh - but running through the entire thrust of the series in ~1h40m movie just. was never gonna work man. feel like there had to be better options out there, like just adapting Origins with some episodes from S1 thrown in between them getting their miraculous and Hawkmoth revealing himself or something. idk. I ain't a writer
but then also I felt despite the short runtime that it sorta dragged on at times? like it got stuck spinning wheels here and there. Marinette constantly needing her confidence boosted even after being Ladybug for so long was weird. it's so strange bc they flashed through a dozen akuma - some of which looked kinda cool btw, be neat if they made the jump to the show - and yet it felt like there'd been no progress made? like the flow of time in the movie just. didn't work. a lot of stuff just sort of happens at you and you gotta hang onto whatever ya like and hope it doesn't just vanish in the river of events
voice acting in English was like. pretty solid honestly. maybe the best performances I'd heard from that side of the dub tho I have no idea what they were thinking with the singing voice for Marinette at least. couldn't really tell if Adrien's was still Bryce (I don't think it was but it wasn't as jarring) and I know Keith sang for Gabe's songs but whoever they got for Marinette just. wasn't even close to Marinette's normal speaking voice and it's super distracting. really weird choice. no shade on the singer tho she was solid imo just like. no connection to Marinette's normal voice really took me out of it
also the songs were kind of nonsensical most of the time and there's way too many of them. some are kinda good - Gabe's, Chat's and tbh I kinda liked the one over the credits to name a few - but like. they were not good enough for there to be what felt like 6-7 different songs in a movie that doesn't even crack 2 hours lmao
they made a ton of changes in terms of the story and general world and I actually kind of liked some of them - Ladybug learning to swing through the yoyo (which had a neat redesign) and doing so using that Ladybug vision was cool, I appreciate that we get a reveal and how it's done even if the end card was brutal, the miraculous seeking them out felt more like nice compared to just having the weight of the world dropped on them by some ancient man lol - but then there's others I didn't. Ladybug just never uses the cure until the end? I guess? she also doesn't purify the first akuma I don't think and like. nothing happens? Adrien's just sorta out and about? going to the school already? he gets a really understated intro imo. Gabriel sort of doesn't get an ending. I'd assume he's in jail? we get almost none of Adrien's perspective on getting the ring which is really weird
and that sorta extends into my feeling that somehow we did not get enough Gabriel in this. really weird saying that after having enough of that bum for the last 4 years of my life but his motives are carried hard by my knowledge of the show, and even then they're not really shown enough - he's not shown enough, and I don't feel Adrien is either. neither is the school setting or side characters, heck I'd say Adrinette gets kinda shafted overall since most of the development they get is in a montage sequence. there's a lot chopped out of this for the sake of a brevity that doesn't feel all that brief?
there's some good stuff in here for sure. the animation is undeniably pretty and slick even if some models are kinda wack. most of the action was fun and cool, the final sequence with Chat running up the tower and such was neat. I loved the Ladynoir something fierce honestly, the bantering and the sparring and the getting closer and closer. missed them being like that a lot tbh, someone on staff clearly did too. couple of jokes got me too like the opener with Chloe getting a single drop of coffee on her shirt lmao
but then there's a lot of stuff that really didn't work for me. Plagg being reduced to a fucking fart joke kind of made me mad lmao. them being super inconsistent with their powers was so weird. no lucky charm?? WHAT?? did I miss something?? no side character getting any focus beyond Alya was disappointing too and even Alya just dips out of the story after a while. breaking out into song once every like 15 minutes got old kinda quick too regardless of song quality (tho it was funny that Marinette seemed aware of the fact that she'd just participated in a musical number at one point lol)
Fu opens the movie with some really weird monologue and basically dips after the first akuma and they just. never find him again? he plays zero role beyond that point? Adrinette's first meeting is kinda cute in an understated sort of way but it's also sort of nothing and doesn't feel like a lingering thing for long afterwards - it ain't no umbrella scene dude. also Chat Noir seemingly drops the "my mom died btw" thing on Ladybug like she'd know that and she just sort of goes "Ah. Sorry, Chat." and that was. super fucking weird lmao
like I said. there's a lot going on - tho I gotta say for sure the writing was not consistently good. there were moments, flashes, Ladynoir is the strongest thing in the movie imo but there's so many fucking craters in terms of quality that it makes me so happy we get what we do in the show
on the whole I felt the movie was somehow way too condensed and yet too long at the same time. it felt like it was made by someone who really likes the surface details of the series but not the whole thing and like that's fine but I wouldn't say it was a good representation of the show. like the things I like about the movie are kind of all things I've liked about the show, and I like them more so because of that but also like I can't say the movie was good just bc I like the show lol
shallow is a good word for it I think. a flashy, expensive hour or so with little more beneath the surface which I feel sorta betrays the show it's based on where it's cutesy on the surface but has more going on under it. which like this feels very much made for the younger demographic and those that aren't into the show, like sort of an ad for someone's ideal version series even if it sorta strays really far from the show itself. as if someone perhaps in charge of this movie was clinging to what elements of their flagship series that they thought were keeping their company afloat and foolishly believed they could do it better than the creator or any other actual writer. wonder who that could be. anyway
as an adaptation of the show I don't think it was good overall and as a movie on its own it was like. fine. imo. wouldn't sway people into picking the series up but definitely not the worst movie ever made. super safe and super shallow, really messy with a few bright spots thrown in. a cluttered Ladynoir reveal fic where the Ladynoir bits are good and the rest is not. etc.
I like it but mostly bc I love the show - I would not introduce someone to the series with this and might not even urge casual fans to watch it either tbh. real mixed bag imo
also what happened to the "Awakening" subtitle? I kinda liked it and it's just gone. weird

As I promised Anon a few days ago, here’s my controversial post: 20 episodes in, I think I’m enjoying Zhuohua more than the sword and the brocade.
I was trying to figure out why. I think if I have an objective criteria, the latter exceeds by most measures. A script that’s able to go deeper into social meta, and because it came before the newer CCP restrictions, the overall flow was better. Plus there’s less post-production madness, and Wallace was the only actor dubbed over. I don’t really get why they felt the need to dub over FSF and JT. But with that disclaimer:
I think it just comes down to me liking the OTP dynamic a little bit more. It’s interesting that @mercipourleslivres mentioned she had a hard time warming to FSF and didn’t have the issue with Wallace, and TBH I think I had the opposite problem. I loved Wallace’s Lingyi from the perspective of “finally introvert representation” but honestly once Lingyi and Shiyi confront their feelings with each other I more or less lost interest? Idk, maybe I’m used to Wallace having literal combustion level chemistry with his co-stars and his chemistry with Tang Songyun was like … nice space heater. Meanwhile I really enjoy FSF and JT’s chemistry.
Anyways, I do think this is a good example of what is “good” and what is “enjoyable” for me is more of a ven diagram.

aight so I finished SOJ finally and these are my thoughts, under the cut cuz spoilers
+ The sprites are significantly better than DD’s, Phoenix and Trucy are the most notable improvements. The DD sprites were clunky and gave off a cheap mobile game vibe, the SOJ ones are more fluid. The only one I still dislike is Edgeworth, maybe he doesn’t translate to 3D well? I don’t know, but his face shadows just look weird.
+ 3D is overall utilized very well. I’ll always prefer the 2D look but the breakdowns in this game are IMO the best in the series, I actually laughed out loud at Paul’s.
+ Most of the introduced characters (e.g. Dhurke, Datz, Rayfa) are nice!
+ None of the cases are outright bad, even the throwaway nostalgia bait DLC case was cute.
+ The soundtrack rocks, it has this Spyro vibe to it.
+ Dhurke being dead legit shocked me, up there with AAI2’s twist imo
o Khu’rain. A lot of people absolutely loathe this setting. I didn’t despise it or anything, but the same-y locations/aesthetic get old.
o SOJ’s writing has been criticized a lot. I acknowledge these criticisms, but tbh it didn’t inhibit the enjoyment of playing for me.
- Maybe I’m just an idiot but the solutions to the Divination Seance were not intuitive most of the time, I usually ended up looking at solutions for these bits. I enjoy the concept, but the execution was a bit lacking.
- Like DD, voice acting is hit or miss. I skipped through Rayfa’s speech every time before the seance, that anime English dub voice makes me cringe.
- I’m not typing out his name so it doesn’t show up when you search him, but the prosecutor. By far the worst in the series and the only one I’ve outright disliked as in dreaded whenever he came on screen. Despite Ema saying he’s nice or w/e (I interpret that as her simping for him) 95% of the time he’s even more of a dick than von Karma but not in a funny way. His design is cool, that’s all I can give him, sorry.

Wanting to spread some positivity among fic writers.
When you get this ask, link your:
Favourite fic/series you’ve ever written
That one fic/series you poured your heart & soul into
One underrated fic/series of yours you’d recommend
You don’t have to link just *a* fic. Go ham! Even link your masterlist! This is all about all your hardwork.
Thank you for creating!
ooooh FUN
Favourite fic/series you’ve ever written
besides the vampire au, I'd say imaginary homelands
Summary: Two years after Jyn and Cassian separated, a chance encounter brings them back to each other again. Confronted with what she lost, Jyn wonders if it's too late to make it right. Canon-verse, post-war, exes to lovers, angst with a happy ending
I recently reread it because I got a new comment and although I'd change some things now (mostly world-building stuff, my SW-world knowldge is still shitty, but I've gotten better and I do see a few holes) but as far as the relationship and story goes, I really do love it. I was actually kinda surprised, I thought even my writing was pretty solid
but shoutout also to my beloved shadow preachers
Summary: Jyn doesn’t like other hunters, and there’s a good reason for that. She doesn't trust other people, preferring to work alone, a lone wolf by nature. Cassian Andor is no exception to that rule. But they keep running into each other - and he keeps surprising her.
Modern au, monster hunters, supernatural inspired, rivals to friends to lovers
I always love this one for the 100% self-indulgence. while there’s some angst, it was more lighthearted than usual and I enjoyed writing the banter and the humor a lot
That one fic/series you poured your heart & soul into
this is where I wanna use Blood Red Rose no question about it
Summary: 1920, London. An unknown creature dubbed 'the Beast' is terrorizing the streets at night. Vampire hunter Jyn Erso and recently turned vampire Cassian Andor might just be the city's only hope to catch the monster...
Vampire au, historical setting, enemies to lovers
I mean... there’s no doubt about this one. It’s been over a year and I’m still working on it, although we’re close to the end now. Before this one, the longest multichapter I wrote was around 4 chapters, so not that long at all. Writing this story, actually having a plot besides the relationship, trying to do worldbuilding, it was all very challenging but I learned a lot. I honestly used to think I wasn’t capable of writing such long stories (hell, we’re past 90k now) and I’m just very proud to prove myself wrong and keep trying
One underrated fic/series of yours you’d recommend
it’s hard to decide what I’d consider underrated so I took a look at my stats and I chose two fics based on comments and kudos (neither of them have the least amount of kudos and comments overall, but taking into consideration length, plot, my love for the story, date since published etc, I felt like these deserved the spot)
so comment wise I chose small rebellions
Summary: Imperial Jyn Erso finally seizes her freedom and escapes with undercover agent Cassian Andor. But the Krennics catch up to her.
Canon divergence, imperial Jyn, undercover Cassian, torture/violence
tbh I’m not 100% satisfied with this (and I think the plot/warnings themselves do turn some people off so it makes sense it did a bit worse than my usual stuff). I think I kinda chickened out in the end because I wanted to push it a bit further and make it even darker but didn’t in the end.... idk, maybe that’s what’s missing. but at the same time I always wanted to write something like this where one person is kinda in the position that they have to choose between hurting the person they love or possibly dooming them to death, and I think Rebelcaptain is the perfect ship for it, so I’m gonna advertise it anyway (although I kinda wish a writer more talented than me did this concept instead but sometimes you just have to write what you want to read)
and kudos wise I’m choosing i’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Summary: Released from prison after three years, Jyn Erso is just trying to pick up the broken pieces of her life. But the man who catches her eye might not be exactly who he says he is.
Modern AU, thief Jyn, assassin Cassian, Good Behavior inspired
writing this felt a bit like writing shadow preachers, kinda self-indulgent, kinda humorous, kinda intentionally messy. I absolutely adore writing modern Jyn who’s just a mess and super snarky, it makes for fun internal monologues, so I think that’s why both this and shadow preachers have a huge place in my heart. also hitman Cassian is really fun too, and if I can ever finish Blood Red Rose, there’s definitely more to tell in this universe. if I had to choose just one, I’d definitely recommend this one over small rebellions
