The north star here is truth. We tell the truth, even when it offends some of the people who pay us for information. [...] The facts involving Trump are crystal clear, and as news people, we cannot pretend otherwise, as unpopular as that might be with a segment of our readers. There aren’t two sides to facts. People who say the earth is flat don’t get space on our platforms. If that offends them, so be it. --Chris Quinn, Editor of cleveland.com/The Plain Dealer
THIS is the kind of attitude that journalists and editors should have regarding reporting on Trump!
Chris Quinn, the editor of cleveland.com/The Plain Dealer wrote this excellent column explaining to his readers why opinion columns on his platforms are so critical of Donald Trump. His response is a credit to his integrity as a journalist/editor, and should be emulated by others in the mainstream media. Below are some excerpts:
A more-than-occasional arrival in the email these days is a question expressed two ways, one with dripping condescension and the other with courtesy: Why don’t our opinion platforms treat Donald Trump and other politicians exactly the same way. Some phrase it differently, asking why we demean the former president’s supporters in describing his behavior as monstrous, insurrectionist and authoritarian. I feel for those who write. They believe in Trump and want their local news source to recognize what they see in him. The angry writers denounce me for ignoring what they call the Biden family crime syndicate and criminality far beyond that of Trump. They quote news sources of no credibility as proof the mainstream media ignores evidence that Biden, not Trump, is the criminal dictator. The courteous writers don’t go down that road. They politely ask how we can discount the passions and beliefs of the many people who believe in Trump. This is a tough column to write, because I don’t want to demean or insult those who write me in good faith. I’ve started it a half dozen times since November but turned to other topics each time because this needle hard to thread. No matter how I present it, I’ll offend some thoughtful, decent people. The north star here is truth. We tell the truth, even when it offends some of the people who pay us for information. The truth is that Donald Trump undermined faith in our elections in his false bid to retain the presidency. He sparked an insurrection intended to overthrow our government and keep himself in power. No president in our history has done worse. This is not subjective. We all saw it. Plenty of leaders today try to convince the masses we did not see what we saw, but our eyes don’t deceive. (If leaders began a yearslong campaign today to convince us that the Baltimore bridge did not collapse Tuesday morning, would you ever believe them?) Trust your eyes. Trump on Jan. 6 launched the most serious threat to our system of government since the Civil War. You know that. You saw it. The facts involving Trump are crystal clear, and as news people, we cannot pretend otherwise, as unpopular as that might be with a segment of our readers. There aren’t two sides to facts. People who say the earth is flat don’t get space on our platforms. If that offends them, so be it. As for those who equate Trump and Joe Biden, that’s false equivalency. Biden has done nothing remotely close to the egregious, anti-American acts of Trump. We can debate the success and mindset of our current president, as we have about most presidents in our lifetimes, but Biden was never a threat to our democracy. Trump is. He is unique among all American presidents for his efforts to keep power at any cost. Personally, I find it hard to understand how Americans who take pride in our system of government support Trump. All those soldiers who died in World War II were fighting against the kind of regime Trump wants to create on our soil. How do they not see it? [emphasis added]
I encourage you to read the entire column. It is worth it.

Marco X Reader Angst-Comfort

Word Count- 3.5 K
Masterlist
“Good morning Y/N, do you need help carrying that?” Ace gestured to the large box filled to the brim with paperwork and medical charts.
“I’ve got this. Thank you for offering.” You smile at him and continue your walk to a certain blonde's office.
“Oh I see.” You look back to see Ace smirking wildly. “You taking that to your man?”
“He isn’t my man! ” You shoot a scowl at the smirking man. You could feel heat rise to your cheeks. You wish you had never told the freckled faced man anything about your crush. Now all he does is tease you any chance he gets.
“No not yet at least. You need to go ahead and tell him how you feel.” His tone turned slightly serious. “I speak for the entire crew when I say we are sick of seeing you follow him like a love sick puppy or I guess in your case rabbit.” He chuckled at his own joke. Classic Ace behavior.
“I’ll tell him when the time is right. I don’t want to ruin our friendship or our working relationship.” You wonder if there will ever really be a “right time”.
“There is no time like the present.” Ace gave you one of his comforting wide smiles. “Besides I have a good hunch he likes you a lot more than you think. You're his precious little Y/N after all.” Ace stuck his tongue out in a taunting way.
“Shut it fire farce. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got to get going. Unlike you I actually work instead of flaking out on job duties.” You stick your tongue back out at him, causing a pout to form on his face.
“Whatever. Anyways I guess I’ll let you “hop” to it.” He chuckled again at his own corny rabbit joke. You watch as Ace walks away. The jolly roger on his back flexed with every step. He was proud of it, and you were just as proud of the symbol.
  (Flashback)
Ever since you’ve joined the whitebeards you feel like you have the family you always wanted. Although you didn't exactly walk up and join the bunch, they more or less rescued you. When you were young your parents sold you off to a scientist for money, you spent most of your life being experimented on. The scientist planned on making a bio-engineered weapon to overthrow the world government by turning them into small weak creatures that could be controlled easily. He was almost successful. He was able to turn you into a rabbit after a few years, the only problem was you could change back into a human. Most of the time you could change at will. But sometimes it happened sporadically. He was frustrated at the fact. You’ll never forget the day he came and grabbed you from the small cage, the angry look in his eyes. He dragged you down a hallway until you were outside. The first time you had been outside in years. To your surprise you were on a ship of all things. He called you worthless, his failed experiment. Without a second look he threw you off the boat and into the dark sea below. The cold water had shocked your small body. You were never taught how to swim.
After struggling to stay above water, you were lucky enough to find a small piece of driftwood floating. It was your saving grace. At that moment you were glad to be in rabbit form, the wood would not hold up your human body weight. After a few days of floating at sea with no food or clean water along with the heat of the sun , you were so weak you could not move. The thought of dying scared you,  but then again maybe things would be better if you were dead. Maybe death will bring peace. You had accepted your fate, now it was just a waiting game. You could hear the sound of faint wings flapping.  All you remember after that was seeing blue wings of fire, big hands grabbing your frail rabbit body and a voice asking “Can we eat it?” Luckily Marco, the one who pulled you from the sea also protected you from becoming rabbit stew. The doctor took pity on you, he could tell you were on the verge of death and he had a soft spot for small animals. He took you to the infirmary immediately and started healing you. You were up and moving in no time. Marco would smile at your progress, not knowing the small creature in front of him was not just a rabbit. You tried hard to go back into your human form, but could not no matter how hard you tried. It was frustrating, you wanted to thank him for taking such good care of you. You also wanted to tell him your name was not “fuzzball”.
After a while you started getting used to being treated like a princess by the man.  He would hold you close to his warm chest as you took a nap.  He even made a small bed that sat on his work desk so could nap when he was busy. Every now and then he would caress your soft fur. His big warm hands had become your source of comfort and protection. It was unlike anything you have felt before. You have craved this feeling of safety for so long. But as they say, all good things must come to an end. One night Marco was finishing some paperwork while you watched. He placed the papers in his desk drawer and got up from the swivel chair. “It’s time for bed fuzzball.” He picked you up and cradled you in his strong arms. And just like that, poof, you were back human again. To make things worse you were as naked as the day you were born. You’ll never forget the look of utter shock Marco had on his face. He held you up for a few seconds before sitting your feet on the floor. He wrapped his purple jacket around you. And gave you a confused look.
“Thank you for taking care of me. And my name is not fuzzball, it’s Y/N!” You blurted out and  smiled up at the very confused Marco. He blinked at you a few times, processing what just occurred.
“Duly noted. You stay here, I’ll go get you some clothes fuzz- I mean Y/N” Marco ran out of the room. He had seen some weird stuff before but you took the cake. He came back with clothes and gave you some privacy so you could change.
You gave him his purple jacked back and explained everything to him. The first thing he did was apologize to you for petting your fur saying “It was rude” but you assured him it was okay. He took you to meet pops and the rest of the crew.  After the initial shock and questions from the crew you explained everything to Whitebeard, after he heard you never had family he asked you to join. Without anywhere else to go, you said yes and now you're officially a pirate and a child of Whitebeard.
Pops noticed how comfortable you were around Marco, so he gave you the job as his assistant/ secretary. Marco was a busy man and you know that first hand from watching. You accepted his offer. Now you mainly forged his signature on paperwork and help take vitals when it's time  for the crew's check ups. It was a busy job, but you wouldn’t have it any other way. Getting to work next to Marco everyday was the best thing to ever happen.
 (Flashback end)
As crazy as it sounds, you were glad that twisted scientist had thrown you overboard. You would have never met Marco or the rest of the crew if he didn’t. Fate had a funny way of bringing people together. Your trip down memory lane came to an end as you approached the door to Marco’s office/exam room. You knocked gently.
“Come in, yoi.” Marco’s voice called out. A smile found its way on your face.
“It’s just me, I got all the paperwork signed and organized.” He swiveled his body around to face you. He gave you the lazy smile he always does.
“Thank you Y/N, I appreciate your hard work.” He stood up, all 6’8 of him towering over you. He gently grabbed the box from your hands and laid it on his desk. “How are you feeling today?”
“No problem, I’m always glad to help. And I’m doing okay. I have a little bit of a headache, but nothing too bad.” Marco gave you a concerned look. You know he worries a lot about you and rightfully so considering most of your life was spent being injected with who knows what. All the unknowns made you anxious. His hand came down to ruffle your hair, he must have noticed the unease you were feeling.
“It's okay, you're okay. Would giving you a check up make you feel better?” You nod your head and sit down on the exam table. You would be lying if you said you're not nervous. You trust him fully, but being in a situation like this makes you remember things you want to forget. Marco went through a drawer and pulled out a thermometer and his stethoscope. He sat on his swivel chair and rolled over to you. “Breathe in and out normally.” You did as you were told as he moved the stethoscope over your back, listening to your lungs. “Your lungs sound normal.” He laid the stethoscope to the side and gave you a reassuring smile.
“Let me take your temperature and I’ll be done, yoi. Say ahh.” You open your mouth as he places the thermometer under your tongue. You hear a group of beeps meaning the reading was done. Marco had a concerned look on his face. “Your temp is 102. That is pretty high, I’m going to get you some meds to bring it down.”
“Okay.”  You wait as Marco goes through cabinets searching for the medicine. Your eyes wander over to the small bed that is still on his desk. You still use it from time to time to take a nap. No one dares to bother you, especially with Marco around. He would beat anyone who tried to wake you up. Just last week he sent Ace flying because he was being too loud while you slept. Your heart swelled thinking about how protective he was. All the more reason you love him.
“Here we go.” Marco’s voice pulled you from your thoughts. He turned to face you and what he held in his hand made you freeze. You could feel your heart rate pick up and heat rise to your face from the panic coursing through your body. He had a needle in his hand. “Are you okay Y/N?” Marco walked closer causing you to scooch back away from him. You could only stare at him in horror.
“No please, not that.” Your voice cracked as tears spilled down your face. You kept looking at the needle and syringe in his hand. Flashbacks came crashing in, all the time you were tied down and injected with something, all the times you screamed bloody murder for it to stop. All the small scars that littered your arms. It was too much. Your body unwillingly transformed into your rabbit form. Your flight response kicked in and you bounced off  the exam table and straight out of Marcos office. You need to hide, you need to find a safe place.
“Y/N?” You passed a concerned voice, but you were going too fast to understand who it was.
You ran until you got to your bedroom door. You go through the small hole Ace had carved out for you due to you sometimes getting stuck in rabbit form. At a time like this you were thankful. Your instincts to find safety landed you under your bed. Going to the main back corner, you curled into a ball and as the world collapsed around you.
~~~~~
 “Hey Marco, do you know why Y/N was running?” Ace peaked his head into the door.
 “Unfortunately it was my fault.” Marco held the syringe up to Ace.
 “What did you do?” Ace’s face went angry as he looked at the needle.
 “She has a bad temperature and I was going to give her a shot to help bring it down. I should have known better. After what she’s been through I can understand why she is afraid of needles.” Marco stood up from his chair walking towards Ace.
 “I see. Well I’m relieved to know it wasn’t on purpose. If it was, I was going to kick your phoenix ass.” Ace shot Marco an intimidating look.
 “That’s some tough talk for someone who wanted to cook her up, yoi.” Marco retorted.
 “I didn’t know she was a human at that time! What you did was much worse, scaring the poor girl who loves you.” Ace slammed a hand over his mouth a little too late.
 “I know she does.”  He could tell considering you made your feelings painfully obvious. “And it’s a mutual feeling. But that's not important right now. Which way did she go?”
 “She was going down that way, if I had a guess she went to her room.” Ace pointed down the hall.
 “Thanks, I’m going to go make this right.”
~~~~~~~~
The same scene kept playing in your head. Your body tied up to monitors, the sound of a iv dripping. You could hear it. It felt so real. The sense of doom was suffocating. Your eyes open, you're surrounded by darkness. You wanted to move but you feel frozen in place. Your ears pick up the sound of footsteps approaching your room. They stepped closer and closer until they were still in front of your door. The doorknob shook as the door creaked open.
“Y/N are you in here.” Marco’s voice softly called out. “I want to apologize.” You wanted to call out to him, but you can’t. The fear of the past had engulfed you.
“I am so sorry. I should have taken your past into consideration. I didn't mean to scare you and I swear on my life I won’t ever make this mistake again.” His voice was riddled with guilt.  After a few moments of silence, he started to walk out of the room, he must have thought you weren't in the room. You look at the one of the wooden posts that hold your bed up. You decided to kick your fuzzy leg against it to make a “thud”.
“Y/N?” Marco got down on his knees and looked at your body curled up underneath the bed. His heart shatters seeing you all alone, shaking like a leaf in the wind. “Hey there sweet girl. Can you come out for me?”  Marco reached his hand out towards you. You hesitate for a moment, but you hop towards him until you sit in the palm of his hand. He pulls you out from underneath the bed and sits you on his lap.
“I really am sorry. I hope you can forgive me, yoi.” You look up at him and nod confirming you forgive him. You know he had good intentions. “I’m going to make that medicine in pill form for you. Do you feel comfortable going back to my office with me?” Again you nod your head. Marco stood up from the floor and held you close. The sound of his heartbeat was grounding you. He walks out of your room and shuts the door gently.
“It looks like you found the runaway rabbit.” Ace walked up and smacked Marco on the back. He looked down at your small form and gave you a small pat.
“Yeah, we are heading back to my office, yoi.” Marco stepped back from Ace, as if he did not want him touching you.
“Dinner will be ready soon, don’t be late. Oh and Y/N, I have bad news. Thatch said we are out of carrots.” Ace gave you a fake sad face. Without hesitation you jumped from Marco’s arms and kicked Ace in the face with your little leg. He let out a small oww and you nestled back into Marco’s arms. “That was mean.” He came eye level with you.
“You deserved it.” Marco brought you up on his shoulder so Ace couldn't get to you. “Well be there soon, I’m going to make her medicine first.” Ace nodded as you and Marco walked back towards his office.
“I’m going to start grinding the meds, you focus on turning back human if you can.” Marco sat you down on his desk. He immediately started  rummaging  through different cabinets and drawers. Your body was calming down with each passing second. Marco had a theory as to why you turn into a rabbit spontaneously. He thinks it's something to do with stress levels. He told you to try to picture yourself in a happy place when you were stuck as a rabbit. It was funny, because being with him was your happy place.
“Ace told me something interesting.” Marco’s voice broke your thoughts. “He more or less told me how you felt towards me.”
You looked at Marco, who did not turn to face you. He continued rummaging through cabinets. You were going to beat Ace’s ass.
“You have definitely softened me up. Ever since you’ve been around the crew says I’m more “Gentle” on them. In all honesty you have me wrapped around your finger whether you realize it or not.” He started to mix together different ingredients while you sat still, listening to  his words. “I’ll never forget the time you wanted to go into town with me. I told you no, but you wasted no time turning into a rabbit and doing the little begging hands thing.” Your little trick ended up working. You and Marco went around the town collecting things for the ship. You didn’t exactly have money, but Marco insisted on getting anything you wanted.
“I guess what I’m trying to get at.” Marco turned around to face you. “I love you Y/N. I have for a while now, yoi.” He gave you a soft smile, one that melted your heart. So overcome with emotions, you jump off the desk and head straight towards Marco. Your body turned normal in the process, making you and him fall to the floor.
“Do you mean it?” You lift your body off of Marco’s, your eyes locked on his.
“I do. Here, let me show you.” His arms wrap around your midsection, bringing your face down to his. His lips met yours in a soft kiss. You felt like you could float away if his hands were not holding you to him. “Was that enough, or do I need to convince you a little more?”
“I believe you.” You had tears coming from your eyes. Marco’s hand cupped your cheeks wiping them away. “I’m sorry I’m crying, I’m just really happy.”
“It’s okay, sweetheart.” The sweet moment is destroyed by your stomach growling. Marco let out a laugh. “We better go get food before it’s gone.” He stood up, taking you up with him so your feet stood on the floor. “Take this before we go.” He poured you a glass of water before handing you the medicine. You gulped it down.
“Thank you, I feel better already.” You smile up at the blond who has a pleased look on his face.
“Good. Now we better get going before that glutton Ace eats all the good food.” You laugh at his statement.
“Maybe we will get lucky and he’ll be passed out before he could gobble it all up.” You wrap your arm around his as you head towards the deck. You could hear the crew's rowdy voices booming. Lucky enough you see plenty of food on the tables, and Ace was indeed passed out on his plate.
“Well well well. It's about time you two got together.” Thatch looked at you and Marco. You hid your embarrassed face in his bicep. Some of the crew whistled out, while others cheered.
“Huh, did I fall asleep?” Ace raised his head up. A piece of corn was stuck up his nose. His eyes settle on you and Marco. A big smile formed on his face. “Good. My work as a wingman is done.” His head slammed back down on the plate. Everyone shrugged his action off and continued eating.
You and Marco sat down next to whitebeard who gave you an approving smile.
“Do you want to sleep with me tonight?” Marco whispered in your ear. You nod your head. After dinner you escaped to Marco’s room. He carried your body as if it was weightless all the way there. He laid you gently on his bed and crawled beside you.
“I love you.” You say barely above a whisper as he pulls you close to him. The warmth from his body engulfed you.
“I love you too, more than you’ll ever know.”

Our Trump reporting upsets some readers, but there aren’t two sides to facts: Letter from the Editor

Personally, I find it hard to understand how Americans who take pride in our system of government support Trump. All those soldiers who died in World War II were fighting against the kind of regime Trump wants to create on our soil. How do they not see it? The March 25 edition of the New Yorker magazine offers some insight. It includes a detailed review of a new book about Adolf Hitler, focused on the year 1932. It’s called “Takeover: Hitler’s Final Rise to Power” and is by historian Timothy W. Ryback. It explains how German leaders – including some in the media -- thought they could use Hitler as a means to get power for themselves and were willing to look past his obvious deficiencies to get where they wanted. In tolerating and using Hitler as a means to an end, they helped create the monstrous dictator responsible for millions of deaths. How are those German leaders different from people in Congress saying the election was stolen or that Jan. 6 was not an insurrection aimed at destroying our government? They know the truth, but they deny it. They see Trump as a means to an end – power for themselves and their “team” – even if it means repeatedly telling lies.

30 or 42? need some oppy angst (only if you can, feel free to delete this ask)
This ask game
42 is one I didn't do, so...OP angst...which timeline....TFP Optimus in episode 1, aftermath of Eren finding out about his powers and is brought back to the Survey Corps along with Armin and Mikasa. TFP Optimus in Episode 1 is on my masterlist for more context.
cw anxiety attack. panic attack Just to be on the safe side.
Eren wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear. This was too much for him. After finally overthrowing the government, after remaining with the Survey Corps for their own safety, after dealing with the fact that humanity wasn't extinct and that the power of the titans came from people like them, he thought. He foolishly believed that he could return to some semblance of normalcy. He was even able to convince his mom that he wanted to join the Survey Corps. He had a chance to join the Scouts after living with them for a while.
But there was an accident during training. He got cut by a grappling hook. It was a complete accident, but his wound emitted steam and started to heal. Mikasa and Armin looked at him with concern, but everyone else stared at him like he was a monster.
He couldn't recount too much of what happened next. He knows that he asked Armin to come with. He and Mikasa weren't going to leave him alone again. But the Survey Corps kept on demanding questions. How did he not know? How did he acquire this power? Which one of the nine titans was it? Eren said he vaguely remembered his dad and the needle, but...matching up with the information from Grisha's notebooks, and the interrogation of Rod Reiss, it was more than enough to conclude what Grisha did.
The Survey Corps look at him with pity. They've seen him grow up. How could they not? Carla is absolutely devastated, breaking down into tears as Mikasa goes to comfort her, his sister also masking her sorrow. Eren just wanted to throw up, he just wanted this to stop! He-!
"Eren." The teen felt a hand on his shoulder, and looked up to see Optimus' holoform staring down at him. Eren hated how concerned Optimus looked. He didn't need that right now! He just wanted to hide!
"I don't want to talk right now." Eren shrugged his shoulders, making Optimus let go.
"That is actually what I wished to discuss," Optimus proclaimed, "This is...overwhelming for you, I am sure. I have asked Commander Erwin to allow you to collect your thoughts, until you were ready with how to proceed next. You are more than welcome to stay in my alt mode. I can ensure that no one else disturbs you."
"That..." Eren shoulders sagged, "That actually sounds nice."
"Come." Optimus beckoned the teen, and Eren followed him out of the massive castle. Optimus deactivated his holoform as the two approached his alt mode. The Prime then opened his passenger door, allowing Eren to climb inside and curl into a ball in the seat.
"Thank you," Eren mumbled as Optimus shut the door.
"You are welcome," Optimus said, and the two...just sat in silence. Not a noise, a peep, a sound came out. Optimus...kept to his word. No one else was going to disturb him. It was nice to be left alone. But...the more the silence rang out...the more his thoughts became more chaotic. He was a monster. He was a titan shifter. People looked at him with fear. His dad gave him a power without telling him what it was for. He...he might have eaten his dad. He killed his dad! And he was going to die in who knows how long?! 11 years?! Less?! What about his mom?! She didn't deserve any of that! Mikasa?! Armin?! He needed it to stop! Please just stop! He didn't want this at all!
"Let me out." Eren's mouth felt dry when he made that statement.
"Eren-!"
"Let me out!" Eren yelled as he sat up. Optimus quickly opened the door and the teen stumbled out. He stood up and began to pace, gripping his hair extremely tight. He hated this!
"Eren-!"
"Did I do something wrong?!" Eren asked the Prime's alt mode, "Is this because I was too difficult for my mom?! I know we fight a lot, but I still listen to her! Is this because I left Armin alone?! It wasn't our fault! We were just scared!"
"Eren-!"
"Tell me what I did wrong! What's wrong with me?!" Eren begged with tears coming down his face, "What did I do wrong to have this curse get put on me?! I'll fix it! Please just tell me! I don't want to die!"
Eren fell to his knees and just started weeping. This was too much. He couldn't take it anymore. Why? Why was he given this power? He didn't want it. He just wanted to be free. Eren then heard the shifts and clangs of metal, and looked up to see Optimus looking down at him in titan form, his mask covering his face. The Prime kneeled down, but also made sure that he wasn't crowding him.
"Eren," Optimus began, "There is nothing wrong with you, and you did not deserve to have this power thrusted upon you. It just seems like a cruel twist of fate."
"So then...what do I even do now?" Eren asked.
"There is much to consider," Optimus explained, "But no matter what comes next, we will not leave your side. None of us will."
"...even though I'm a monster?" Eren mumbled.
"You are a child," Optimus declared, "A child with a heavy burden, but you will not shoulder that burden alone. I vow with all of my spark."
"...I don't want to be left alone," Eren confessed, "I...don't know what I really want right now. I know I don't want it to be quiet, but I'm also tired. But I don't want to sleep." Eren laughed at that. "Sounds weird, right?"
"No." Optimus shook his helm before offering his servo. "Would you like to watch the stars with me instead?"
Eren wordlessly climbed into the Prime's servo before he was lifted to the titan shoulder. Eren sat on the titan's shoulder, and the two turned their gaze up towards the stars.
"Would you like to hear a story?" Optimus offered.
"Yeah." Eren nodded.
Optimus then told Eren a story about one of his travels to distract him from the current situation. Optimus didn't bring up his own concerns. His own worries, his own fears. None of it. He didn't want to discuss his own pain regarding the situation. Eren needed comfort. He didn't want to add to the boy's trauma and dilemma.
(I feel like for Eren, the titan powers in the Episode 1 timeline would be ten times more of a gut punch, because he's essentially gotten everything at once.)

“Remind me. Are we now the good guys or the bad guys? Are we on our way to overthrow the government, or is today the day we unleash a mutated strain of virus on innocent women and children?” “Does it matter? You’re a hired gun. People used to offer you cash. Now I’m offering your life. But it’s not open-ended. We need an answer now.” Connor tried to think. This was no longer black and white.…

Dream SMP Recap (June 9/2021) -        New Citizens
Ponk has a chat with Sam, Fundy and Purpled officially join Las Nevadas, and Ranboo receives an update message from the Council.
---
VOD LINKS:
Ponk
Fundy
Purpled
Ranboo
---
- Ponk continues building the bridge in his new valley
- He returns to Foolish’s summer home and finds the countersuit Puffy left. He reads it. Many of the claims he doesn’t think are actually against the law of the land. He insists he wasn’t quoting Roadtrip during his Banquet speech, but rather an old man
- Ponk will have the best lawyers (he also may pay the jury off but don’t tell anyone). He’s amused that Puffy would work with BadBoyHalo and call Ponk the ‘dirty Eggpire supporter’
- He finishes reading the lore suit and greets Purpled in chat, telling him that he’s getting sued by Puffy
- Sam logs on and Ponk takes him over to the valley. They’ve had their differences, but Ponk is in need of a good lawyer. Sam suggests Tubbo, but Tubbo is expensive and intimidating
- Ponk points out that Sam will be the only one in the jury with an elevated IQ like his own. Sam hasn’t been officially selected for the jury yet, and they might think he’s biased, having cut off Ponk’s arm (Sam says he did it for good reason)
- They reach the valley and Sam approves of Ponk’s bridge
Sam: “You can see Kinoko Kingdom from here.”
Ponk: “(gagging sound) No, you can see Niki’s place! Niki’s communist cult! It’s great! We’re gonna set up a nice trade agreement, and (mumbling) then we’ll burn Kinoko Kingdom down to the groun-- I mean, then we’ll have nice trade deals with everyone, you know?”
- Ponk is bitter about losing his arm and Sam blames it on him for stealing the keycards
Ponk: “Sam...just so you know, just so you know...You can come to me after...after everything. I will still support you, Sam, okay? You’ll have a place to stay, because, all the wrong you’ve done is gonna catch up behind you, you know? All the wrong that you’ve done--”
Sam: “I haven’t really done anything wrong.”
Ponk: “Haven’t you? Haven’t you?!”
Sam: “No, I think I’m a good guy.”
Ponk: “You think you’re a good person?”
Sam: “I don’t know, you don’t think I’m a good person?”
Ponk: “I mean -- my opinions are biased.”
- Ponk asks Sam to walk and talk with him on the way back to Spawn. Sam’s spoken with Purpled recently
- They visit the animal sanctuary and Sam suggests they steal the strider. Ponk tells him stealing is bad. Sam wants to let it out. They play with the strider a bit
- Ponk explains his conflict with Puffy in general terms
Sam: “Look, I have a random crossbow from one of those guys that we killed.”
Ponk: “You said that so casually...life is precious, you know.”
- Ponk asks about the bank. He’s free to work. Sam says it’s up to Hannah. The two discuss the bank system
- Ponk hasn’t seen Technoblade in a while. Sam thinks he must be overthrowing governments in a far off land or something
- Ponk offers to trade with Sam for two stacks of redstone blocks. He asks how much for his arm back. Sam says he destroyed it. Ponk is upset that Sam didn’t keep it, but Sam says it was too mangled
- Sam trades some gold for the redstone
- They fight a raid together and capture a Ravager
- The two continue to chat for a while
- Fundy stands by his bed. He had a great sleep! He dreamt about a Windows update and he’s looking...a little sleepy?
- He checks the to-do list. Today’s the day. He grabs some things for the road. Fundy decides he’ll go alone. He doesn’t want to risk losing his snow fox friend
- He says hi to his Aunt Panisha (a salmon in the river) as he sets off, asking her to wish him luck
- Fundy reaches Las Nevadas wonders where Quackity’s office is. After some deduction, he heads to the Needle and spots Quackity going up the elevator
- After some hesitation, Fundy goes up the elevator too and comes face-to-face with Quackity, who sees him and asks if he’s okay. Fundy says he’s doing fine, he had a weird sleep and may have woke up outside the window
- Fundy tells him that he took his advice and bettered himself. They sit at the table and Fundy shows him his new diet. Quackity says he’s proud of him
- Fundy mentions that last time they spoke, he suggested they play cards and back at home, he didn’t sleep because he was waiting for Quackity to come over...and then he didn’t
- Quackity explains he just had a bunch of paperwork to do
- Fundy spots some slime blocks bunched at the side of the room and asks what that’s about. Quackity says it’s “a friend” of his, that he’s probably asleep
- Quackity gets Charlie to emerge from the slime
Charlie: “Hey, Fundy from L’manburg!”
- He was in the middle of his gloop-morphosis. Fundy is confused at how he knows who he is. Charlie digs into the floor and gets Fundy to greet him, slurping up some slime
- Quackity tells Charlie he needs to speak with Fundy. Charlie says he can “sell it” and starts telling Fundy he looks like he wants to gamble. Fundy asks Quackity why he’s talking like this, and Quackity says he must have learned it from TV
- Fundy finds out that Charlie is incredibly old and asks Charlie about how he knew he was from L’manburg. Charlie declares them best friends
- Fundy tells Quackity that he’s changed, that he’s a better man. Quackity thinks it’s great, but he doesn’t want Fundy to portray a false version of himself
- Charlie looks at Fundy close-up and says he hasn’t changed
- Quackity doesn’t want Fundy to join under these conditions. Fundy insists he’s fine, he isn’t portraying a false version of himself
- Fundy’s lived in that cottage for way too long. All these nightmares are because of him interacting with people and he’s ruining it for them -- but ever since he’s improved himself and become more healthy, he hasn’t had those nightmares
- Quackity has thought about it a lot, and Fundy’s work in L’manburg was exceptional. He thinks Las Nevadas will be a stepping stone to Fundy’s success
- Charlie gets Fundy to smell him and asks him what it’s like to dream. Fundy sniffs and maybe swallows a piece of Charlie. Charlie tells him one day he’ll be whole again
- Quackity passes Charlie a bone of one of their “mutual friends” in L’manburg and asks Charlie to analyze it
- Quackity and Fundy leave Charlie in the Needle and go back down. Quackity brings him downstairs, where he tells Fundy there’s no going back. He wants to make sure Fundy can trust him and hands Fundy a book to sign:

SIGNED .  .  .
QUACKITY
FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF LAS NEVADAS
---
- Fundy is nervous and hesitates
Quackity: “Fundy, I -- You’re like a brother to me. We’ve gone through so much. But I still have to protect my nation...surely you can understand that.”
Fundy: “No, I -- I can. Yeah. Yeah yeah yeah, um...it’s strong...You really believe in this nation, right? It’s like your child--”
Quackity: “Fundy...this is all I have left...if this nation dies, I die along with it.”
- Fundy signs the document with his full legal name:
Fun Jonatahan Micahel Vincent Georgina James Sus Dy
- He signs the book, gives it to Quackity and asks that if he ever reads it, to not call Fundy by his legal name
- Quackity welcomes Fundy to Las Nevadas as an official citizen!
- Charlie has control over the piece of slime inside Fundy. He tells Charlie not to do that
- Quackity asks Charlie if he has a name. They decide to call him “Meat” for now, but Charlie tells Quackity in “secret” (very loudly) that he isn’t actually meat...he is slime from the ground
- Quackity suggests they call him Slime From the Ground. He then says he is bones
- He leads the other two to the edge of Las Nevadas’ road and points out that they have a big issue: Tubbo’s outpost nearby. Quackity suspects that Tubbo may be planning some dangerous strategy against the country
- Quackity gives Slime some armor to put on
Slime: “Ready for war...don’t take my music discs!”
Fundy and Quackity: “Wh -- what did you just say?”
- Quackity has an informational video he can show Fundy later. They investigate the outpost. He reminds Fundy about the military protection portion of the document
- Quackity remembers the Butcher Army and asks how much experience Fundy has with the military. Fundy was part of every single one that’s existed
- Quackity suggests they build their own version of the outpost
- Slime starts breaking Tubbo’s windows. Quackity encourages it and tells Slime it’s called “griefing,” handing him dirt to spread around the place
- Quackity finds the two Totems of Undying they have at the outpost and asks if they should take them. He then says they should test them. He doesn’t know what they do
- Fundy isn’t sure they should, or what Tubbo’s intentions are. Quackity decides to leave them unless Tubbo retaliates for the griefing
- They notice the bridge and Quackity suggests a tollbooth
- Quackity explains the concept of taxes to Slime, who’s been watching Purpled recently. Purpled hasn’t done much, just farmed
- They start building the tollbooth and Fundy brings up how medieval castles used to have boiling oil above the gates that they could use if there were people they didn’t like, and they could do something similar
- Slime starts throwing slime and Fundy can feel it (and it doesn’t feel good)
- Quackity asks for the bone he gave back, but Slime can’t tell the difference between all the bones
- Quackity remembers how when L’manburg exploded, Fundy and Niki came up to him and said it was a good day...what was that about?
Fundy: “The way I saw it was, during that time, everyone was trying to divide each other, right. Everyone was trying to divide each other...every one was either left or right and there was no in between. There was no...People always wanted to separate themselves and make war and destroy everything that was loved. When L’manburg was a thing, I cared about L’manburg, and then it got destroyed, right, and eventually, my hope at that moment was...that people just like, accepted that they shouldn’t--”
Quackity: “But you betrayed the nation...Fundy, the thing I’m getting at is, I don’t know your excuse or your thinking behind that...that will not happen again at this nation. No betrayals, no backstabbing. Not here. Understand?”
Slime: “What’s backstabbing?”
- Quackity and Fundy try to teach Slime how to backstab, then how to work the tollbooth against Tubbo
- Slime starts putting buttons on the walls. Quackity tells him not to, as it gives him bad memories
- Slime asks Fundy again what it’s like to dream. Fundy doesn’t want to talk about it, but Quackity notes that he’s been vague about it
- Fundy explains that every time something big happens in this place, he has dreams where he can sort of see what happens before it does. It’s like gazing into the future, except he loses details before it happens
- Quackity presses him on it. Let’s say they have a big war coming up, he takes Tubbo’s totems and Fundy sleeps and tells him what happens next so that they can prepare?
- Fundy doesn’t think that’s a good idea. Quackity doesn’t understand how real these things are
- What if they build an entire building for Fundy so that he can have these dreams comfortably? It’s just a possibility...
- Slime’s gloop-morphosis isn’t “complete” yet
- Quackity asks if Fundy knows Foolish. Fundy remembers one time he blew up a little bit of Foolish’s house and he finds out Foolish lives in Las Nevadas
- Quackity asks how long ago this was. Fundy says it happened a long time ago, but Slime corrects him
Quackity: “Just know, Fundy...he doesn’t know how to lie.”
- Quackity leaves to get diamonds and Fundy confronts Slime alone, asking him how he knows things. He tells Slime that in certain situations, it’s helpful to keep quiet on certain things for the benefit of other people
- They move on and Fundy teaches Slime a bit about fun and hobbies
- Quackity returns and they notice many squid in the nearby river. Quackity goes down and starts killing “cod” (salmon). Fundy corrects him that they aren’t cod, but to Quackity fish is fish. Fundy looks away while Quackity kills them
- They suggest Fundy be the food-gatherer. Fundy suggests a diet of fruit and plants
Slime: “What’s wrong with salmon? Your father loved them!”
- Quackity asks Fundy to elaborate on his father, if he came from a fishing family. Fundy asks Slime again about how he knows. Slime continually refers back to people “turning to dust.”
- They ask about what Slime knows about them, then about Slime’s favorite memory. He digs a whole in the ground and waits for a bit
- They teach Slime about humor
Slime: “Two people walk into a bar. One is green, one is red. The green one is shaped -- is a bigger guy, and the red one is a smaller guy. To get to the bar, both got off a train. The train the red guy was on was going west at 40 miles an hour for 60 miles. The train the other guy was on did not serve lunch. They both walked into a bar, and 500 years later they were still just dust in the ground. At the end of it all, they were just still dust, and none of it mattered.”
- Slime tells another joke about a chicken turning into dust.
Quackity: “How long do you think it’ll take for me to turn to dust?
Slime: “I...I’ll make sure you never turn to dust, Quackity from Las Nevadas!”
- Quackity asks about Fundy’s father
Slime: “The sooty guy?”
- Quackity and Slime ask Fundy -- shouldn’t he know? Slime says Fundy can ask Wilbur about his history himself
Quackity: “Your dad’s alive, Fundy?”
- Fundy tells Quackity about how Phil came to him with some interesting news, that Wilbur is actually alive. Quackity ask when was the last time Fundy’s seen Wilbur. Fundy hasn’t seen him alive again yet
Quackity: “What’s your relationship with Wilbur?”
Fundy: “It’s...it’s complicated, man. It’s very complicated.”
Quackity: “Because...there’s an issue.”
- Fundy wants to talk to Wilbur about a lot of things. Quackity brings Fundy over to the headquarters and breaks the news that Wilbur came to see Quackity
Fundy: “...He saw you? He went on his way to see you, and -- and he’s not shown up to me to, you know -- why, why?”
- Quackity shows Fundy the “mark” Wilbur made. Wilbur asked to join Las Nevadas, and Quackity said no. He shows Fundy the name: Fort Big. Tommy and Wilbur are working together
- Quackity is just warning Fundy. He hopes this won’t get in the way of Fundy supporting the nation. Fundy just doesn’t know why Wilbur didn’t come to him, but he went to Quackity.
Fundy: “Did he talk about me?”
- Quackity thinks he did, but he doesn’t remember what
- Fundy says goodbye to Slime and Quackity, heading off to settle down on his own. He stands at his plot of land, wondering if he’ll have to fight Wilbur
- Purpled is at his old base by the ruins of L’manburg. Life is good. He has DogChamp, he’s been fishing, no human contact
- He has something to attend to and goes to the cliffside nearby, finding Slime. He asks why Slime’s been watching him, who told Slime to spy. Slime avoids answering
- Purpled figures it’s Quackity and asks Slime more about how long he’s been above the ground, what he knows. Slime refers to him as “Purpled From a UFO” and Purpled shows Slime that his UFO has been destroyed by Quackity
- Purpled leaves Slime and visits the ruins. He notices Slime following him and tells him to leave again
- Slime traps himself in Dream’s honeymoon suite and Purpled continues down the path, looking at all the builds. He visits the Socializing Club and checks beneath the floor -- the trap he made all those months ago is still there. He wonders if anyone remembers these things
- Slime slimes his way out of the trap and Purpled visits L’manburg. He was just a pawn, there was no “Purpled in L’manburg” or “Purpled in Pogtopia” or “Purpled on Dream SMP’s side.” There was just no Purpled
- He returns to his house, gets DogChamp, puts him into a hidden chamber elsewhere. He stores his valuables...and rigs the entire place with TNT
He sets it off and it goes
- Slime talks to Purpled again. Purpled asks if Quackity is still interested in a new resident
- Purpled asks Slime to trust him as he retrieves DogChamp, and he gets Slime to lead him to Las Nevadas
- He makes it there and goes into the casino. Quackity doesn’t know what he has planned. He comes out to find Quackity there. Quackity takes him up to the top of the Needle
- Purpled makes it clear he only cares about the opportunity for himself, not for Quackity. He doesn’t stand for what Quackity does, doesn’t think there will ever be a time that he’ll respect Quackity as a person
- Quackity tells him they all change in some way or another. When he first became Vice President, he saw the best in everyone
Quackity: “I don’t really see the good in people anymore...but I do see opportunity.”
- Quackity tells Purpled that if they succeed with the nation, the two of them will be going down in history. Purpled starts to come around to thinking that maybe they are on the same page
- Quackity had a citizenship document he meant for Purpled to sign, but he’s willing to gamble on it without
Quackity: “Welcome to Las Nevadas, Purpled.”
- He gives Purpled the document either way and tells him he has a right to a plot of land. Quackity will have a business meeting with all the residents soon
- Purpled asks for land behind the casino. He has an idea for something. Quackity agrees to give it to him
- Purpled leaves and speaks to himself with DogChamp at the stage. Things will be looking different around here real soon
- Ranboo goes to the mailbox he set up with the Council and checks it, finding a new update in the book along with a Netherite Axe labelled “axe of the end” in Enderman.
The update reads:
---
Hello. We have been observing the happenings around the server and we come bearing not news but rather a warning for you. We know that you like to stand idle and not engage in any kind of acts of violence and we respect you for that.
However, we also know that there are people that you care about and you need to understand that in order to take care of those people you are no longer able to just stand idle. You need to take a more active role again. We have given you something that can help with that. Use it carefully.
We respect your wishes. - The Council
---
- Ranboo takes the axe. He planned to work on Tubbo’s outpost, make it seem like more of a shop than an outpost
- He goes to the outpost and finds the griefing, cleaning it up
- As some protective measures, he leaves signs:
---
Hello! Whoever put a bunch of dirt everywhere, Dont!
This is going to be a new cookie shop! We dont have cookies yet
Please leave it alone! Or violence will be used.
---
- He continues working on the outpost and Techno logs on. Ranboo goes over to the new tollbooth and pays the toll of one bone
Techno: ranboo have you unlocked teleportation yet
Ranboo: not yet i dont think
Ranboo: let me try
Ranboo: yeah no
Techno: can you hurry up
Techno: asking for a friend
- Ranboo explores around Las Nevadas and makes a to-do list
- He makes a hidey hole in the strip club and strips some logs. He gets tempted to steal a Netherite block
His to-do list reads:
---
TO DO LIST FOR LAS NEVADAS: 1. Figure out what to get inside of. 2. Figure out what the hollow buildings are 3. Figure out why there are so many horses 4. Figure out who runs this place 5. Figure out what the black pillars are for
---
- He returns home and speaks with Tubbo in VC
---
Upcoming events remain the same.

Astien and Ingarad
World: Sevenwater Setting: DnD 5e (Homebrew)
[from an unfinished veiled kingdom short story]
You dream of your coronation.
Not the temple, or the tower adept, or the moment she’d placed the circlet on your veiled head—that always seemed unimportant in comparison to everything else, the shadow of the castle over your head when you returned from the Narrows victorious, the banishment of the counts, Inge on her knees in front of the war council like an oil spill-shadow.
“Anything,” Inge said to the Count Duan of Harrowfold when he asked her what other crimes she would commit in the name of the false knight Astien. Your name.
“What wouldn’t you do for power, Ingarad the Sorcerer?” he asked, and Inge laughed and laughed and laughed.
(For you, she said to you the night before. For you, I would do anything.
You loved her so much, your teeth ached with it. You took her fingers to your mouth and kissed them one by one, then kissed her mouth, then—)
You were going to change Sevenwater.
[details under the cut]
World
Tien and Inge have started out as first arc (redeemable, or, rather, ‘oh wait they’re not actually evil!’-able) villains of a DnD campaign I never finished DM-ing. The campaign is set in Sevenwater, a country of squabbling fiefdoms recently united after an upstart knight overthrew the council of counts to put an end to a series of never-ending border wars. Sevenwater is plagued by the political uncertainty of a coup, is recovering from war, and has to contend with not only the remnants of a recently purposeless army, but a magical curse that is spreading from the boggy grasslands of the Needle.
Characters
Tumblr media
Astien Lenthe • The Knight Astien • The Beggar Queen
One of the many illegitimate children the House Lenthe has produced in the last decade of their rule over Sevenwater’s largest city, Roost. She’s a minor noble; growing up like grass by the ditch and mostly forgotten by her family. She’s the bane of Governess’ existence as a child.
She joins the Knights of Sevenwater when she’s eleven. Her troop marches to the Narrows when she’s sixteen for the first time to repel invaders from the South. For the next six years, she lives from battlefield to battlefield.
[In DnD: Paladin of Redemption | Lawful Good]
Tumblr media
Inge of the Cradle • The Sorceress Ingarad • Butcher of the Narrows
A kitchen maid’s child, relocated from the Cradle to Roost when she’s ten with her mother. Discontent with her future as a house servant, Inge steals books from House Lenthe’s library and practices magic in secret to pass the yearly examinations the Tower of Sorcerers holds. Meets Astien when Tien is six, she is eleven. She is accepted as an adept at the Tower the following year, but their friendship doesn’t finish—even after Tien starts knight training, they sneak away from their dorms to meet and talk.
When Astien is sent to the Narrows, Inge manipulates documentation (and bribes slash threatens several Tower administrators) to be assigned to a battlemage troop accompanying supplies to the battlefield. She follows Tien from the Narrows to the Needle and back. She’s the one who suggests Tien (tired, battle-worn and disillusioned) to try and change the world. (so they overthrow the government!)

Federal authorities arrested a husband and wife in Bristol, Va., on Monday in connection with the Jan. 6th siege on the U.S. Capitol Building. Documents related to their cases were unsealed in federal court on Thursday.
Authorities say tips from the public led them to Joshua Bustle and Jessica Bustle. The couple is accused of entering the U.S. Capitol and posting about it on Facebook. Jessica Bustle’s multiple online accounts provided much of the evidence prosecutors used to compile a case against her, federal court documents indicate.
“Pence is a traitor,” one of Jessica’s posts read. “We stormed the capital. An unarmed peaceful woman down the hall from us was shot in neck by cops. It’’s insane here. We’re safe and heading home but have limited service.””
Another lengthy post read (in part) as follows:
“The amount of misinformation I’’m seeing is insane. Despite what you’’re being fed, the rally was nothing like what the media is portraying. My husband and I spent the majority of our time at the Health Freedom Rally which was a couple of blocks over from the Trump Rally. When we finally decided to head over to the capitol we were let in . . . like literally, my husband and I just WALKED right in with tons of other people.” The cops were nice . . . we were talking with them INSIDE of the capitol about not taking the CV tax and they agreed with us. There were no guns, weapons, and no violence. In fact, when we finally decided to go in after about 45min of it being wide open . . . there was a wooden podium UNTOUCHED just sitting there in the middle of trump supporters supposedly causing so much damage and mayhem. Yes, some Trump supporters were supposedly unruly . . . pushed past police to take selfies in congress seats.
What followed that was a bit of sarcasm and a claim that “ANTIFA puppets infiltrated the rally,” a claim that “Trump supporters are loving, patriot and peaceful people,” and that the mainstream media was full of “lies.”
As prosecutors have pointed out in case after case, the U.S. Capitol was officially closed to business Jan. 6 as Congress set to work counting electoral votes in favor of Joe Biden.
A Statement of Facts filed in federal court says Jessica Bustle had two Facebook profiles. Some of her messages were edited after they were originally posted, authorities stated.
Tumblr media
An FBI Special Agent reviewed captiol surveillance video. It showed the Bustles entering the building wearing what is believed to be the same clothing they were wearing in Facebook posts that day. The video shows the woman authorities believe to be Jessica was carrying the same anti-vaccine poster seen in Facebook photos on Jessica’s Facebook account. The sign reads as follows: ““MANDATORY MEDICAL PROCEDURES have NO Place in a FREE Society”.”
Tumblr media
I wonder how much of a lion they’ll be in prison. All I see are a couple sheep being willingly led to the slaughter.
Data transmitted by the couple’s electronic devices also placed them at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Federal prosecutors did not cite all of the messages reviewed by Law&Crime in charging documents against the husband or the wife.
Jessica Bustle’s primary Facebook profile was still active as of Thursday. In the profile reviewed by Law&Crime, Jessica described herself as a “wife” and a “mama” who appeared to state a preference for homeschooling her young children. She described herself as a “Truth Seeker” who liked the Bible passage Philippians 4:13. She shared several memes which described people who took vaccines as “lab rat[s]” and otherwise suggested that children should “never” be injected with vaccines.
“Will vaccinated people be able to give blood?” one post questioned. “If so, will those receiving the blood be made aware?”
Another showed a caricature of of Bill Gates and Dr. Anthony Fauci sitting on top of a giant needle. “Depopulation here we come” said the caption.
Yet another likened a COVID-19 vaccine card to a yellow Star of David similar to those the Nazis required Jews to wear during the World War II era. “This badge will allow you to go back to work, travel, buy, sell, and trade,” the meme erroneously claimed. “And it will cost you your soul.”
Other memes on her page chastised people who wore facemasks during the pandemic and said “millions of loving people” should get “together to overthrow the ruling class.”
She also shared a meme which questioned why “80 year old children’s books” were “being cancelled” while Cardi B’s song WAP was considered acceptable.
“You can have a bachelor degree and still be an idiot,” one post said.
“Masculinity isn’t toxic. The absence of it is,” read yet another. “Weak men are abusive and spiteful. Strong, masculine men are protective and loving.”
“I don’t know about you, but I’m not seeing posts about how great Biden is doing,” said another image.
Her occupation is described as a “Homemaker at The Bustle Household in Manassas, Virginia.”

“I’ll be proud to say that I did not stay silent,” she wrote on Oct. 26, 2020. “I was on the right side of history, battling alongside some amazing freedom warriors as we fought like hell to get the TRUTH out and wake people up to the twisted agendas, lies and corruption. Several images were from the Jan. 6th events at the Capitol Complex.
“I refuse to fall for the hate and divide,” one post said. “Yesterday was monumental. Another post questioned the authenticity of NASA’s moon landing.
The Bustles each face four counts: (1) knowingly entering of remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; (2) knowingly engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct in restricted buildings or grounds; (3) violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; and (4) parading, demonstrating, or picketing on Capitol grounds.

ALDJSHSKS OH THANK GOD I WASN'T WORRIED BUT I WAS A LIL WORRIED...alright imma start off with a Kuzuhina(ish) idea, because rarepair hell sucks let's suffer together. Hajine gets kidnapped by a psycho group NOT because of his relationship to Fuyuhiko, but because they "wanna see what makes the Ultimate Ultimate tick." Which is infinitely worse because the human experimentation is back on for our tsundere ahoge boy. He got lobotomized and now he's back in that particular hell. Izuru's also suffering because he's grown to care for Hajime in his own way, because they're two separate minds in one body, and he can't protect Hajime from this. Fuyuhiko is basically going postal because "MY BOYFRIEND WAS KIDNAPPED BY LUNATICS, WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT, AND NO ONE'S DOING ANYTHING WHAT THE FUCK." The rest of the Remnants are also pissed and worried, but Fuyuhiko moreso. Your thoughts???
like one day he’s just gone ?? no note? just poof?
holy hell i have this image of fuyuhiko absolutely TEARING UP the 100km area around them just looking. ofc the other remnants are pissed too but nobody has ever seen fuyuhiko just go off like this. eventually he realises he can’t find him by just searching aimlessly so soda builds some walkie talkies STAT (or they get to ask future foundation for help? i haven’t decided which is better), but point is all of the remnants absolutely descend on the surrounding area, with their own sections to search. the communicators have lil GPS things on em so they always know where the other is.
it’s gotta be fuyuhiko that finds him though, right? because like... angst. anyway, fuyuhiko finds this old underground bunker, and can’t open it by himself so he calls everybody over. akane, gundham and nekomaru manage to get it open, n peko has to literally hold fuyuhiko back to stop him just bolting down there as fast as he can.
they get to have a fucking cool fight scene when they’re down there, because I can’t resist letting Peko absolutely go off with her sword, and we saw what kinda mess akane and nekomaru can make fighting in the despair arc. those three people could definitely take down like 30 people between them, trust me on this one.
the worst part is when they get to the room that has hajime in it. the door got locked when whoever got him realised that they’d had a security breach, and it’s a proper lead door that won’t open for anybody and everybody has to repeatedly throw themselves against it in order to get it to open. everybody’s panicking, but there is nobody worse than fuyuhiko. like, to the point where some of them are worried that he’s gonna get his ass despaired again. but nobody says anything because main priority is hajime.
at some point, nagito started looking through the pockets of the people that got absolutely knocked tf out, and Lucky Him! he finds a key! it’s maybe the first time ever that fuyuhiko ever thanks him for something (and my god does he thank him like, he’s crying and while he’s a lil bit aggressive he’s so grateful) and they get in and find hajime hooked up to a ton of different machines.
you ever heard of project MKUltra? when the US government tested psychedelic drugs (particularly LSD) as a torture device/truth serum? yeah well, this is it! hajime is tripping absolute balls and not in a fun way, occasionally getting some electric shocks! why? well, it’s in the “doctor’s” file on the desk! because wouldn’t hajime also be the ultimate weapon if he’s the ultimate everything else? imagine having him as something that can be controlled, told what to do. you could end the world, overthrow a government, you name it!
mikan has to carefully remove the electrodes from him because he’s fighting her hard, but there isn’t a way to get him to stop tripping and freaking out until it passes, except to just straight up sedate him. they have no idea how long this has been happening to him or what he’ll be like when it’s over. mikan has to scrounge through everything that this place has to find something, and even though it takes a while she does eventually find a high enough dose sedative that will help without just making him OD and die. unfortunately, it has to go in through a needle.
historically, hajime isn’t good with needles. he’s even worse when he’s off his fucking face and having the very definition of a Bad Trip. he barely knows where he is, and there’s a part of him that does recognise the people around him but his brain isn’t working properly and he just can’t stop freaking out. hes already restrained though, so it isn’t too hard to just quickly sedate him. fuyuhiko’s basically glued to him now, telling him he’s sorry and that he’ll be okay soon, that it’s gonna be alright.
luckily, without getting it directly and constantly, the effects of LSD only take around 12 hours to wear off. by the time they’re back at wherever they’re living, most of the hallucinations have worn off, but he’s quiet and hurt, and the electric buzzing kinda fried his brain a little bit - he’s still there, but izuru is basically the one in charge of the body right now since he’s letting hajime rest for now.
fuyuhiko still thinks izuru is a little weird, but like... he’s part of hajime, so he’ll put up with whatever bullshit izuru can throw at him. izuru isn’t as affectionate, but will hold his hand every so often and give him small smiles when he needs them, and it just feels good to have him back and safe. when hajime comes back again though, it takes a while before he can be left alone again. not that fuyuhiko is leaving his side basically ever now because he’s sure as hell not letting that happen ever again. and it takes him a while to heal, he never truly forgets or gets over what happened to him, but everybody’s there for him. he knows he has a family now, and everybody understands if he needs to go away for a little while and let izuru take care of the body when he can’t.
okay this got super long and i am very sorry but you threw this concept at me and i ran because i love angst so much, but the comforting after the angst is also so good.

Season 9, Mission 4: Out of the Past
Heist
~
[birds twitter]
AMELIA SPENS: Okay team, let's go over this one more time. General Bakari has sent Abel a distress call from a remote Tunisian base, Red Scorpion, which is probably home to red fungus and definitely home to one Ernest Van Ark.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, despite the fact that you, you know, um, what was it? Oh yes, blew him up with a rocket launcher, Five! That's... [laughs] It's typical! My luck. We get Janine back safe, and oh, who pops up but the devil himself?
AMELIA SPENS: Bakari wants a team to sneak something out of Red Scorpion. Our hope is that it's a red fungus countermeasure. To get there, our team needs to infiltrate New Agadir, a city in the middle of the desert, while posing as Death's Hand, a mercenary group whose greatest hits include assassinating a blue chip CEO using a neurotoxin-tipped knitting needle and overthrowing at least three heads of state.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: This is all so exciting! Proper Mission Impossible stuff!
AMELIA SPENS: Peter, remind me why you brought the new person along. It's Frances, isn't it? From the Hebrides?
FRANCES DEMPSEY: I wanted to try a run. Janine said I could come because it's a low-danger assignment, and because I promised to stop asking to be on the Tunisia team if she let me. I overheard Sam talking about the mission.
AMELIA SPENS: Marvellous. Janine should add “make Sam keep a secret” to her bucket list. [sighs] At least you're not pestering me to let you go. I've already had to veto Jody's involvement. I need her here working with me to train runners on McShell tower protocol.
PETER LYNNE: [laughs] I bet she was thrilled about that.
AMELIA SPENS: Anyway, our problem is getting a team to Tunisia. The information in Bakari's transmission enabled us to contact the Maghreb Protectorate, a government which operates in what used to be parts of Tunisia, Libya, and Algeria.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Another government, that's incredible!
AMELIA SPENS: Yes, well, they're no use to us yet. They have no jurisdiction over New Agadir, and besides, our governments do not yet trust each other enough for them to provide assistance. Our team can't risk crossing Europe - too many unknowns - and our few ships are all either exploring or acting as repeater stations for overseas agents - too far out to be useful.
All we have left are small coastal merchants. I've found one scow captain willing to take people to Tunisia, but he's cautious. He wants the latest nautical charts. Pre-apocalypse, obviously. Not a lot of hydrographic surveys since Z-Day. You're approaching the London home of Horatio Brewer, famous British investor. Should have what we want.
PETER LYNNE: Are we sure about that, Amelia?
AMELIA SPENS: Fairly. Mr. Brewer was a keen yachtsman. Old Ministry intel says he planned to escape Z-Day by sailing to a second home on the Tunisian coast. Had all the prep work done, then his neighborhood turned gray. We think zoms got him, but he was keeping his preparation safe in a basement vault.
PETER LYNNE: Great. So basically, we're looting a dead man's travel plans. Lovely. Um, see that street across the park, Five? That'll be his, so better hurry while it's still light out. Come on, everybody. Run!
~
[birds twitter]
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Wow, this is a classy street. Look at the mansions. That one's got ivory cherubs carved over the gates.
PETER LYNNE: Neighborhood's in pretty awful condition, though. You've got overgrown gardens, smashed windows. No sign of V-types though, thank God. Dearg made me a prototype one-man burn cube, Five, sewn right into my chest. Anti-P-type measure. Got the trigger, but not massively eager to try it.
AMELIA SPENS: Maybe not, but it's the only reason I'm letting you near Tunisia.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: So Amelia, who exactly are these Death’s Hands people? Will they be tough to impersonate?
PETER LYNNE: Frances...
AMELIA SPENS: Oh, they're a nasty bunch. Former special ops, freelance since Z-Day. Bakari says they've been traveling the world as hired guns. Their rep gets them a lot of private security gigs. He's given us contact details for the real team, so we can lure them out of our operation’s way.
PETER LYNNE: Frankly, I don't think we should be trusting Bakari. This whole thing is probably a trap, which is why, Frances, Janine said that you can't – [zombies moan] Oh, God damn it!
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Uh, isn't that the place we want? Big Georgian house covered in ivy?
PETER LYNNE: Well, Amelia, there's a horde of zoms milling outside Brewer's house, so we can't make it to the entrance.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Well, we could gain entry by the house next door. Look at the big white mansion. Its roof's half collapsed, sloping into the road. We could clamber across it, jump to Brewer's roof, and get in through his attic window.
AMELIA SPENS: You know Peter, I'm warming to the new blood. Quickly then, off you go. I've got the scow captain waiting on tenterhooks. I need this deal closed ASAP. Run!
~
PETER LYNNE: Amelia, we um, we got in through the attic window, followed a ladder leading deeper into the house. Now we've found a sort of private antique collection? So we're in a carpeted hall full of artifacts in glass cases.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: They've got plaques. That's a Roman bust, Celtic coins, an Egyptian amulet. That's a Carthaginian pot from Tunisia. Shouldn't these be in a museum?
AMELIA SPENS: Ah, well, Mr. Brewer was a rather avid black market trader, made a fortune trafficking plundered historical artifacts. Actually, it might make a good impression if our little expedition returns some stolen goods. Grab the Carthaginian pot, Peter.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, burglary with Amelia, just like old times. So let's see. It's a classic. We've got the pot on the pedestal, so if I just lift its case - [alarm blares] Ah. I honestly didn't think the alarm battery would have lasted this long. Um, Five, grab that pot, would you?
[zombies moan]
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Uh, guys, apparently there are zoms in the house too, coming up the stairs behind Five. Six big ones in dark suits.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, that'll be Brewer's former home security. Alarm's got their attention. Hello! Still on the job, eh, boys?
AMELIA SPENS: Wish I could find staff that dedicated. No need to waste rounds, blueprint says there's a master bedroom down the corridor on your left. Brewer always left a spare key in the lock for his mistress. If you can lure the zombies in, you can trap them there. Run!
~
FRANCES DEMSPEY: Keep going, Five, there's the door past the amphora vases. God, how big is this house?
AMELIA SPENS: It was originally five smaller houses that were joined together behind a Georgian facade. Brewer felt he needed the space.
[door creaks open, floor creaks]
PETER LYNNE: Amelia, we're in the bedroom. There's a – ooh, four-poster bed, lovely. Uh, photos of Brewer and his family. Nice mustache. It's very Howard Hughesian. Um, Frances, you okay?
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Zombies! I forgot how scary they are up close. Didn't have them on Dearg. I'm actually shaking.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, uh, oh yeah, of course. No no no, um, it's okay, Frances. See, so the key was in the door and um, here's what we're gonna do. We're all going to get behind the bed. This room's really big, so when the zoms come at us, we'll then be able to circle around and lock them all in.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: The house isn't in the best structural condition. There are big cracks in the walls, and that creaking probably means the floor is compromised. If any more bodies start stomping in here -
[zombies growl]
PETER LYNNE: See, there are the zoms and they're... coming straight over the bed, so run for the - ! No, no, no! [shouts]
[floor collapses, glass shatters, PETER and FRANCES cough]
AMELIA SPENS: Peter, Five? What happened?
FRANCES DEMSPEY: The floor gave way under the bed! [coughs] The zoms were too much weight. It just smashed down through the house, took the zoms with it.
[house creaks]
PETER LYNNE: This house is definitely unstable. Yep, uh, sounds like the whole place is coming down.
AMELIA SPENS: If you follow the corridor outside the bedroom, you'll find stairs. Take them down to the basement. It's a reinforced garage, should remain intact if the house collapses. Plus, it's where that vault is. Hurry up, you don't have long to grab those charts, and they're absolutely vital.
PETER LYNNE: Oh, also um, there's a horde of zombies chasing us. Come on, run!
~
[zombies moan, house creaks]
PETER LYNNE: Yep, there's the stairs, Five. Straight down, down you go.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: The chandeliers overhead are really shaking. Five, look out!
[chandelier falls, glass shatters]
PETER LYNNE: [laughs] That was close! Chandelier smashed right through the stairs. Could have done without the glass shards in my face, to be perfectly honest. Um, edge around the hole it's left in the stairs. [house creaks, zombies moan] Oh, fantastic. Amelia, we just passed the ground floor and I can hear more zombies barging into the house. So that'll be the horde from outside, attracted to all the noise.
AMELIA SPENS: Just keep following the stairs down. There are exits in the basement, but you have to reach the vault first. Run!
~
PETER LYNNE: Yep, yep, yep. Five, close the door, close the door! [door slams shut] Oh, good. Amelia, we've made it. We're in the basement garage, and the stairwell’s collapsed behind us. Ooh, this is a huge concrete car park. There's tons of fancy cars. There's Bentleys, BMWs... a Model T? All right, just, could you give me a minute, Five? I've just got to pick some chandelier out of my face and eyes.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: That's amazing. Your wounds, the way they're healing. Enhanced cell regeneration? The scientists on Dearg talked about it. [gasps] This is what Van Ark did to you!
PETER LYNNE: Yes, it is. Not really looking forward to meeting him again. Rather pull my kidneys out, honestly. But Janine is not leaving me behind this time. I just got her back and I won't lose her again.
FRANCES DEMSPEY: Dearg was his, you know. I was trapped there for ages. If you're going to a Van Ark lab, I can help. And honestly, I can't stay in Abel. It's funny, when we got security fixed at Dearg, first place I wanted to see was where Alice lived. But being there... a lot of older runners, they look at me, they see her. It's hard.
That's why I really came today. I needed to get out. And I guess I started to feel... if I was going to be her ghost, I might as well run, like she did. I don't want to be a ghost, Peter, and I don't want to go back to Dearg. I want to see the world, find out where I fit in.
AMELIA SPENS: People, you should get moving. That wasn't the only staircase leading to the basement.
PETER LYNNE: Over there, Five, look. It's built into the concrete wall, huge round metal door. That looks like a vault to me. Come on, run!
~
PETER LYNNE: Amelia, we're at the vault door. Here's the C-4. Do the honors, Five. [explosion] [coughs] Okay. Okay, right. Uh, vault is a big gray room with shelves, lots of shelves. Uh, model yachts, dusty piles of... ooh, gold. Five, Frances, look for those charts.
[paper rustles]
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Hey look, found a massive file on a shelf titled Inventory. It's an index of Brewer’s deals and trade contacts. There's a whole chapter on Tunisia.
PETER LYNNE: [laughs] Gotcha! There's tons of nautical charts on this desk under the sextant. [dragging footsteps] Uh, what was that sound? Five, could you go and check behind the shelf of canned food? [zombie groans] Oh, good. Hello! Amelia, we've found Brewer. Looks like he locked himself in here after he'd been bitten, entombed with his wealth like a rubbish pharaoh.
[laughs] Oh good, we've also got a zombie wife and two zombie children in the shadows. Welcome, everyone. He's taken his whole family down with him. [more zombies growl] And that is going to be the rest of the zombies in the garage. So Five, Frances, we're gonna move towards the door. Need an exit now, Amelia.
AMELIA SPENS: There's a ramp on the west end of the car park, leads up to the surface. The shutters open from inside. Hurry, get the charts to safety, run!
~
PETER LYNNE: Okay Five, Frances, I think we've lost the zoms. Street looks clear behind us.
AMELIA SPENS: Well, I'd call that a success. Five even kept the Carthaginian pot. Now we've got the charts, I can have people heading to Tunisia in days.
PETER LYNNE: Janine's finalized the team. It's her, me, Five, Sam, Maxine, and uh, computer expert. Look, I-I am sorry Frances, uh, but honestly, you are safer here. We're going a long way from home, and trust me, Van Ark isn't to be taken lightly.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: Wait a second, look at this. The folder I took, it's full of photos, Brewer logging artifacts he traded. Look at this Roman mosaic from Tunisia, the symbol in the corner.
PETER LYNNE: That is the endless circle from Mor Island.
FRANCES DEMPSEY: That's not all. Brewer's notes say he sold the mosaic to a military base code-named Red Scorpion in Tunisia before Z-Day. He says the commander of the Red Scorpion base scared him, told him not to record any names. Whatever that place is, it's definitely connected to the fungus, and they've known about it since way before we have.

13 or 14 for Doctor/Master
I’ll go 13: Falling Asleep
(From some vague post-LotTL or post-EoT au I guess. Also, cliche as heck)
The Doctor hovers in the doorway to the Master’s room, not quite ready to step over the threshold, and not quite sure if he should be there at all.
He’d lain in the dark for far too long, exhausted, but unable to fall asleep. A cup of tea, reading, counting Ood, none of it had helped, so eventually he’d given up and let himself be pulled out of bed and down the corridor. The door had opened at his touch, which he’d optimistically taken as a sign because he knew the Master could lock his door, had enjoyed doing so in the past, and the fact that he hadn’t...
They’ve been circling each other, binary stars caught in orbit. Nothing so neat as even elliptical orbits, but on and on, round and round. In and out, running and chasing, over and over for centuries, across galaxies, neither one of them able, or even wanting, if they’re honest, to break free. It’s been like that their whole lives, but now that they’re the last ones left, acting for all intents and purposes as each other’s keepers, it’s more noticeable.
Gallifrey may be gone, but the two of them remain locked in orbit.
And he likes to think that their orbits are shrinking, those moments where they swing close, when they’re not at each other’s throats, when he glimpses brilliance and humour and familiarity in the Master instead of simply anger and violence and pain, coming faster and more frequent.
Decaying orbits always end in collision, but the Doctor prefers to look at it more optimistically than that. There are all kinds of collisions.
Things are different, to be sure. He’s never quite travelled like this before, not even when he had other Time Lords in the TARDIS, though that was mainly because he never had to worry about Romana slipping off and overthrowing the government of whatever planet they had landed on so she could install herself as supreme ruler. And he doesn’t dare think of the Master in relation to the term ‘companion’ in the other Time Lord’s presence, lest he catch the stray thought and take insult, but in truth it’s become something not entirely unlike his life before. They’re seeing the universe. The Doctor is simply a lot more careful about where they land, and there’s more security procedures in place.
It will never be like it was. They’re not children anymore, they’ve both seen and done too much for them to ever truly go back. But they’re here, alive, the two of them, and that has to mean something.
The Doctor certainly likes to think so.
Which is why he’s here, standing in the dark, in his pyjamas, trying to make himself step through the door. He doesn’t know if he’d be welcomed though, is the thing. If all the not so subtle flirting had been nothing more than a way to needle him. If the panic in the Master’s eyes as he’d collapsed from a blaster hit to the side two days ago had been imagined, and the exasperated “idiot” to which he’d woken to in the sick bay shortly after was more cutting than fond outside of his own hazy recollections.
Maybe he should just go back to his own bed.
“Fine.”
The Master’s voice in the dark takes a second to properly register, the Doctor not entirely sure he didn’t imagine in.
“Get in. Your thinking and lurking is keeping me up.”
“Uh…”
“Unless you’re here to smother me with a pillow and are just trying to work up the nerve?
“What? No. Of course not.”
There’s a sigh from the direction of the bed, and the Doctor hears the Master shift.
“Then shut up and get in.”
The lights of the room brighten just enough for him to make his way over, and when he hesitates again at the edge of the bed, the Master lifts the sheet in obvious invitation. The Master lays back down as he slides in, and the Doctor decides that since he’s been given permission, he’s going to go the full mile.
He rolls over towards the middle of the bed, pushing into the Master’s side and laying his head on his chest. He throws an arm over his waist and tangles their legs together so that he eventually ends up half lying on top of the other Time Lord. The Master makes a somewhat disgusted sound, but he doesn’t push him off, or make a comment about how bony he is, so the Doctor takes it as a preformative reflex.
He lets loose a breath he hadn’t known he’d been holding, letting himself relax, settling now that he’s where he wants to be. The Master isn’t quite stiff beneath him, but the Doctor notices his fingers tapping restlessly against the sheets, and wonders if maybe he wasn’t the only one struggling to find rest. Instead of drawing attention to it, he reaches over and picks up the Master’s arm, manoeuvring it so that it falls across his back. The arm hovers, noticeably tense. He says nothing though, and soon enough it softens, curling more fully around him, fingers no longer tapping, but stroking gently instead.
The lights drop, leaving the two of them once again in darkness. There’s no sound except for their matched breathing, until-
“I should smother you.
The Doctor smiles, and falls asleep to the steady sound of the Master’s heartbeats.

Voltron: Global Military Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Unit-Chapter 11: Revelation
1700 Hours
"So you're saying these guys aren't jihadists but Middle Eastern anarchist kind of terrorists?" Lance asked as paramedics gathered up the bodies from the safe house.
"Not just Middle Easterners," Allura corrected, turning back to the team. "It's an international terrorist organization intent on overthrowing governments worldwide."
"That's one helluva terrorist group."
"The militia we dealt with at the slum raid were also the Galra too, weren't they?" Pidge guessed.
"I'm afraid so," Allura nodded. "Cardozo confirmed it. We also have bad news from them. Earlier today, the Palácio do Planalto was just bombed before the attack on our safe house. There were no survivors."
The team were silent but Allura could read their shock and disgust and she could understand that. The Galra were willing to take innocent lives for a greater good.
"This is fucked up." Lance muttered.
"Where are they gonna strike next?" Keith asked.
She shook her head. "We're not sure."
"What about Shiro?"
Allura glanced at the floor in doubt, which was enough for an answer. She wasn't sure what Sendak was going to do with him but she prays that Shiro can hold his own.
Shiro was awakened by the bright illumination of light, flashing into his face. As his vision caught up, he noticed two looming figures standing over him. The only thing he remembered was getting hit by an explosion in the room before blacking out while trying to stop Sendak. Shiro found himself on a chair with his hands tied behind his back. He then got a clear look at the two figures' faces. Both were Middle Eastern and definitely part of the Galra. The two exchanged some words before one of them went up to Shiro.
"سگ آمریکایی! (American dog!)" the Galra terrorist yelled in farsi, punching Shiro.
The terrorist was then forcefully pulled away by the arm. Shiro's gaze locked onto Sendak as he stood next to the terrorist, holding his arm tightly.
"آیا از شما خواسته ام به او صدمه بزنید؟ (Did I ask you to harm him?)" he hissed in the same tongue.
"متاسفم ، برادر! (I'm sorry, brother!)" the Galra terrorist replied. "ما باید این سگ آمریکایی را حرف بزنیم! (We must make this American dog talk!)"
Sendak simply pulled out a pistol and shot the terrorist in the head. After ordering his partner to remove the body, Sendak turned back to Shiro.
"My apologies, Shirogane. I'm not here to harm someone who's treated me humanely." He said, holstering his pistol.
"It doesn't matter what you'll do to me." Shiro muttered, avoiding his gaze. "I'm already dead."
Sendak softly chuckled. He approached Shiro and stopped a couple feet away from him.
"I admire your courage but you have been misunderstood. I need you alive."
"Why?" Shiro growled. "Ain't I a liability? Ain't I just a soldier in your way?"
"You are...I'm impressed that your team managed to get this far but you're no use to us when you're dead."
Shiro refused to look Sendak in the eye. Whatever he was asking, he won't give in to his demands.
"You see Shirogane," Sendak said. "We're both warriors...we're both lions in a waging conflict riddled with deception. Our masters of war only see us as machines to fight pointless battles for empty glory. They sent me and my unit to Turkey to assassinate the prime minister so they can pin the blame on terrorists from their country.
It was a dirty operation because my master didn't want the Turks to step foot into our country. They had us pose as Al-Qaeda terrorists and ordered us to start a mass shooting at a football game where the prime minister was. I've killed so many men, women and children that I've lost count…"
Sendak paused before continuing.
"You know, those soldiers I killed in Iraq destroyed the hometown where I used to live. My father was trying to surrender when they shot him. My mother and sisters...they were raped before they were killed. I murdered them all when I found out what they did and all of a sudden...the government marked me as a terrorist. I am what I am because of what they did and I have no shame for that."
Shiro looked up where he faced Sendak's back of his head. He could understand his pain but that alone wasn't enough to forgive him.
"This does not change that you're responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people. You killed my team and my brother."
"Hmm. I understand," Sendak turned around to approach Shiro. "Which is why I'm not going to kill you. In fact, you have a choice. You can join us and together we'll bring those government tyrants to their knees..."
His gloved hand then latched onto the back of Shiro's head and forcefully turned it to his direction, locking gazes with each other. Shiro glared intensely at the eyes of his enemy.
"...or you can be my prisoner and watch the government fall and your country burn."
Shiro remained silent. Just staring at his eyes makes him want to spit at him. He was sure as hell not willing to work with Sendak. However, keeping his mouth closed may have saved his life. Sendak let go of his head and stood up.
"I'll leave you to think about it," Sendak said, heading for the door where one of the terrorists was waiting. "I expect an answer by the time I return."
The door slammed shut and the lights went off. Shiro looked down to the ground. He can't let this slide. Sendak is not going to get away this time. But first, he needed to get the zip-ties off his wrists. They were surprisingly tighter this time.
1800 Hours
The first thing he saw as he slowly opened his eyes was the pale-coloured ceiling. Jem only remembered getting shot and passing out while getting dragged through a chaotic shootout by Stacy. It felt different to his field missions while he was with Interpol. Jem felt the dry insides of his mouth as he licked over it. He needed water.
As his vision began to clear up, Jem found himself on a bed with curtains surrounding him. He must've been taken to a nearby hospital. Jem helped himself to sit up, only to tense up. His waist hurts like hell, much as if a soccer ball hit his ribs. Looking down, he noticed he was in a gown as well as some needles injected to his hand. He couldn't lift up the gown to see where his wound was but hopefully it didn't puncture anything fatal. But after all, he was the youngest and the most vulnerable of the family.
Suddenly, the curtains opened, jolting him. Jem cursed, spinning towards the source of the sound while holding his arms in defence before noticing Stacy standing at the curtains with a water bottle on her free hand. Judging by her face, Jem must've surprised her too when he almost got scared. Something is giving him déjà vu vibes.
"He-," he uttered. "Bloody hell, you scared me."
Stacy snorted, letting slip a smirk. "Five years and you still haven't changed. How're you feeling?"
"Yeah, I'm okay. Hurts when I sit up."
Stacy approached him and sat on the stool by the bedside. "The anaesthetic must've worn out while you were asleep. You want water?"
Jem nodded eagerly and took the bottle from her, downing about half of the water inside. He made sure not to move too much to avoid friction from the needles injected into his hands. He let out a sigh of relief as he took the bottle out of his mouth and handed it back to Stacy.
"Thanks, Stace. You're a lifesaver."
Her smile grew as she took the bottle off his hand. Jem couldn't help but stare at her short, ash blonde hair accompanied by the eyebrow piercing on her right eyebrow. He at first didn't recognise her when they met again five years later while Coran introduced him to Voltron. Still, he missed that long hair of hers and the feeling of running his hands through that silky sensation but changes happen in the end.
"You know..." Jem said, breaking the silence. "This is...some reunion."
Stacy glanced at him.
"I mean, it's been like a week since we met after five years and shit happened so fast, you know? Like, we caught a leader of a terrorist organisation and then we got attacked and lost him and I got shot and almost died. Crazy, huh?"
Jem began to titter and Stacy chuckled with him. "Yeah, it's crazy."
The moment of letting out their stress stopped. Turning towards her, Jem noticed her grin was still on as she stopped chuckling. Her eyes however give Jem a different meaning. Silence befell. Both were unable to think of anything to say. Then Jem figured something out that he didn't get to ask between the week.
"How's things?" The way he said it felt forced.
"Hmm?" Stacy looked up.
"I mean, we haven't seen each other since we…you know…"
"Broke up?"
"Y-yeah," Jem nodded, hiding the awkwardness in his voice."You must've been doing well, right?"
"Yeah, you could say that."
"So...you got into the FBI, right?"
She nodded again. Stacy always wanted to be an analyst after graduation and was quite fond of the FBI whenever they talked about their careers.
"I almost didn't, actually" Stacy said. "I messed up the final test at the Academy but fortunately, there was some sort of error in the system so they let me off on this one."
"Really? What happened?"
"Dunno. But anyways, I was an ace at my job. Caught a lot of criminals, including that one terrorist that the FBI has been trying to catch for twenty years. You should see the look on his face when he found out I was part of the team who raided his hideout. Still doesn't believe women are capable of anything."
Stacy began to chuckle. Jem did the same but then stopped himself.
"W-Wait, you were involved in the raid?" He asked.
"Oh, right. Forgot to tell you," she replied. "I also applied as a field agent halfway during my five years there. I had to keep myself in shape and work out and take up a different diet. It was a pain in the ass but those years definitely paid off."
Jem glanced at her and noticed there were some changes in her body. Her arms were slightly toned and her shoulders fit the shirt well. Honestly, compared to his skinny build, she was quite in shape. Although Jem wasn't that skinny, he still felt inferior to her build. In other words, he was kind of envious.
"How about you, Jem?" Stacy asked. "Anything interesting happened? Apart from that raid while you were in the Intelligence Corps."
Jem sighed. Other than taking part in the field, nothing big happened in both the Intelligence Corps and Interpol. Jem leaned back onto his pillow behind him.
"Nothing much. Just paperwork and coding, the usual."
Stacy slightly nodded. Another pause between the two. Stacy then got up from the stool.
"Well, since you're fine now, I'll just head on out. Coran's waiting for me." She said.
"Y-Yeah. Got it," Jem muttered before realizing something. "W-wait! Stacy! I have something to tell you."
Stopping near the curtains, Stacy turned back to him. "What's up?"
Even though she was his ex, Jem still felt like his chest was going to burst. He needed to say those words.
"Thank you," He said. "For saving me."
A smile spread across her face. "You're welcome. Just don't...well, get shot again, okay?"
Jem snorted. "Promise."
"The way you said it is kinda making me concerned." Stacy blinked.
"Relax. I swear, I won't."
She nodded and turned away, heading for the door. "Alright. As long as you keep your end of the bargain. I'm heading out now. See ya."
"Later."
And then she left. Jem heard the door close as footsteps distances away from the room. Letting out a sigh, Jem placed his hand over his chest where he could feel his pulse punching its way out before slowly calming down. Were those feelings back in highschool resurfacing? He thought he had let it go ever since then. Or maybe they were just hibernating for years until he met Stacy again? Whatever it was, Jem couldn't figure out why. He slapped his hands over his face and groaned.
"Why now, Stacy? Why'd you gotta make me go through this again?"
While following Lance and Pidge, Keith and the two noticed Hunk just coming out of a room with one of his hands in his pocket.
"Yo, Hunk!" Lance called, grabbing his attention. "Where've ya been, ese? I had a feeling that you ran away."
"Lance!" Pidge and Keith hissed at the same time, prompting Lance to raise his hands.
"I'm joking."
"It's fine," Hunk assured. "I just got off a call with Shay and got some more information about the Galra Empire. She told me who they really are-"
"Yeah, we know they're buncha anarchists." Lance said.
"But there's a reason why the Galra is operating in Brazil."
"Which is?"
"The president has scheduled a meeting with the presidents of Colombia, and Venezuela for tomorrow morning. They're planning to discuss about a potential combined military and defence agency in response to the spike of crime and terrorism across their countries."
Pidge and Lance were surprised to hear it. They did hear about the meeting between the presidents but there wasn't any info about why.
"The news didn't say anything about this." Keith said.
"Sounds overkill for these three to come up with something like this." Pidge added.
"Kinda makes sense when you think about the stats on both crime and terrorism."
"And the Galra sees this as oppression." Hunk said.
"Wait, how does a journalist like her have access to information like that?" Lance asked.
"She has her ways apparently."
"Also, wouldn't the meeting be cancelled? Did they not get the news that a Brazilian government building was just bombed?"
"No they're still gonna go with the meeting despite what happened to Palácio do Planalto. She isn't sure about when or where the meeting's gonna happen but it's only a matter of time before the Galra begins their attack on the presidents."
"Team?" Allura called, grabbing everyone's attention. "I have some bad news."
The leader stepped in with the group, forming a circle.
"I just got off the phone with the higher ups...They want us to leave Brazil and return to London immediately."
Allura could tell nobody was happy with the news as she looked at the team's faces. She wasn't happy with it either. They'll be letting the Galra run amok and take more lives as part of their goal and worse, execute Shiro.
"We can't go back."
The team looked at Keith who was the first to break the silence.
"We can't!" He raised his voice. "Do they even know what happened to Shiro? Not only that, the Galra is going to attack the presidents and nobody knows but us! We can't just sit aside and let them take more innocent lives, let alone leave Shiro with the Galra. Somebody's gotta do something and we're their only hope. If we let them kill the presidents, what do you think's gonna happen to all of us?"
There was silence. It was the first time they heard Keith let out an outburst like that.
"He's right," Pidge spoke up. "We need to do something."
"I'm in too. I can't walk away on this either." Hunk said.
Lance hesitated for one moment. "Fuck it. I'm always up for some action."
To them, they assumed Allura's planning to give up and return to base, leaving Shiro to die. But she was impressed that they were willing to risk their lives to stop a catastrophe.
"I never said we were going back to headquarters."
The team looked at her, surprised.
"To hell with orders from the superiors," Allura said. "As far as we know, they could be on this like General Sanda. From now on, this is an unsanctioned operation. This means we won't have any support and we'll be disobeying commands which may get Voltron shut down and court marshalled. If any of you want to step down, you're free to do so right away."
Nobody said anything. They were all willing to fight back.
"We're not going to let the Galra commit another attack and we sure as hell are getting Shiro back."
The team nodded with their decision being final. There was no going back from this but if it's to ensure their leader is with them, nothing matters. That is, if Shiro's still alive at this rate.
"So what's the plan, Major?" Keith said.
"Брат, как поживает заключенный? (Brother, how's the prisoner doing, over?)" Fakhoury asked through the radio.
The only response that returned was the ear wrenching static. Barad was supposed to keep watch of the Voltron infidel Sendak wanted. He hasn't responded for the past thirty minutes and at this point, Fakhoury was sure Barad was slacking off as usual.
Letting out a hoarse sigh, Fakhoury got off his chair and snatched the AK-104 off the table before leaving the room. The gun itself was actually more efficient and comfortable to use than the old AK47s he and the insurgents used to carry. The Galra sure knows their weapons. Fakhoury headed downstairs, taking in the sweaty stench of the Brazilian streets. The city may be impressive but they will be leaving a message for the government so they could prepare for their fall.
Fakhoury arrived at the room where the Voltron infidel was. Barad wasn't at the door. Where could he be now, he wondered. He knew Barad wasn't fond of doing patrols and keeping watch to the point he would wander off to have a smoke. Fakhoury let out a sigh and got out his radio.
"Барад, где, черт возьми, ты? (Barad, where the hell are you, over?)" he asked before pausing.
Fakhoury thought he heard his voice from the room. Now he was getting confused. Without thinking it through, Fakhoury opened the door which for some reason was unlocked.
"(Bara-)"
He froze, holding his breath short. There, lying on the floor, was Barad and the chair that the Voltron infidel was supposed to be on was empty and tumbled. Fakhoury rushed towards Barad and bent down to check on him. His wide, soulless eyes stared at the ceiling as he checked for a pulse. Fakhoury noticed red marks over his neck, fresh and warm. He was too focused on his friend's demise to radio in Sendak.
Standing up, Fakhoury felt a strange aura behind him. He spun around and glanced across the room. There was no sign of the infidel at all but Fakhoury still felt like he wasn't alone. He wasn't sure what to do now. Turning around to the body, he noticed the barrel of a pistol aiming at him from the side of Barad's head.
He pulled the trigger, letting the loud bang rip across the room. Shiro heard the round hit the terrorist and pushed the body off him. Pulling himself up, he approached the wounded terrorist holding his neck while stumbling back and gurgling in his own blood. Shiro fired two more well-placed rounds to his chest, enough to make him trip over while dodging the terrorist's misfired rounds.
Once Shiro made sure he wasn't getting back up, he flicked the safety of the Glock 18 back on and rubbed his bruised wrists. It stung like hell but it was the only way to get off these zip ties. He approached the terrorist he strangled just after breaking free of the zip ties and took the suppressed AK-104 and his plate carrier fitted with ammo.
After putting his plate carrier on, Shiro then heard faint footsteps from outside. His prediction was correct. Raising his rifle, Shiro walked out of the room and cautiously checked his surroundings as he moved down the hallway. The footsteps closed in from the corner and the last terrorist appeared. Shiro let single fire rounds rip and dropped the terrorist before he could react. Approaching the body, he fired two more rounds to the head just for precaution.
As he went upstairs from where the terrorist came from, he noticed the rusty, metallic stairs and the industrial-like setting surrounding him. Shiro would assume this is a warehouse that the Galra set up as a hideout. Arriving at the upper floor, he found a room with an open door. Entering the room, he made sure to check every corner throughout the room before confirming it was clear. Shiro's eyes then landed on something that caught his attention. At the very middle of the room among the tables filled with weapons and ammunition was a wide board with everything stuck together in one piece. There were sticky notes and strings connected to the pins holding up photos.
Shiro was able to read the entire board to realise how capable the Galra was. They knew everything about Voltron. Their tactics, their movement, everything. That was how they got the upper hand. The ambushes in Pakistan, Dubai and Qatar were all tests to prove their exploitation.
Shiro then read the rest of the board and noticed a photograph of a building which looked to be the Palâcio do Planalto with a red X crossed over it. The Galra must've done something to the building. Shiro looked over and found three separate photographs of men in suits with flags attached to it and red X's crossed over each of their faces, as well as a cutout of a newspaper article in English. There was Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia. These three are the presidents of those countries. Shiro needed to know what their relation is to Galra.
He took the newspaper cutout off the board and read it. It seemed to be about some sort of 'secret' meeting between the presidents which was cancelled due to the bombing of the Planalto in Brasilia. The word 'cancelled' was circled in red with the word 'LIES'. Then Shiro noticed another photograph of a building which looked to have been taken recently with a red circle over it. The building itself was strangely different compared to the Planalto. Was it their secret hideout? He noticed a sticky note attached next to it with the address written on it. Shiro realized that the Galra must've seen through the cover story of the meeting and somehow figured out where the presidents were going to be at. He then noticed another sticky note saying:
'Tomorrow
9:30 AM
We strike'
There was only one final conclusion to this. The Galra is going to kill the presidents and possibly abolish the countries' system.
Thankfully, Shiro found a phone lying on the table as he frantically searched for a way for contact. They need to know this. Shiro dialed Allura's number and held the phone to his ear. The beeps repeated multiple times as a couple of seconds had passed. Shiro's fingers tapped on the table as he anxiously waited.
"Pick up, pick up." He muttered.
The beeping stopped shortly.
"Hello?" Allura answered.
"This is Black Lion." Shiro responded.
There was a brief pause. "Shiro? Is that you?" "Yeah. Listen, Sendak and his men are gonna attack the presidents-"
"I know. We're sending the Lions there to stop the attack. Where are you-"
Shiro needed to get his message through. "Do you know where the presidents are meeting at?"
A brief pause filled the air. "Not yet. We're getting Coran and his analysts to pinpoint their location. You found something?"
"Yeah, I'm looking at it right now. They have a secret hideout in Goiânia and the Galra must've figured out their location. That must be where the presidents are going to be tomorrow. I got the address too."
"Alright. I'll relay this to the team. What's the address?"
Shiro took the sticky note off the board and read the address aloud. "R. 15, 32-148, St. Central."
"Got it," Allura said. "I'm gonna send the team to pick you up. Where are you right now?"
"Don't worry about me. I'll meet the team there."
As soon as he hung up, Shiro immediately crushed the phone with his boot, making sure the chip inside was destroyed with the phone. Now to get out of this place and find the team. As he made his way out of the room, Shiro turned around to look at the board one more time. The Galra were smart and dangerous. Possibly more dangerous than Al Qaeda or ISIS, especially with their motives and views. But no matter their perspectives, Voltron's purpose is to take down and prevent terrorism around the world and that is what Shiro and his team is going to do. Looking away, Shiro left the room and set off to put a stop to Sendak's mission.

"Captain? Captain, please open up the door." Kuoto knocked on Tenjin's door, leaning close to the slate of metal. The Auto was met with stubborn silence. He double checked the captain's whereabouts, his x-ray heat vision confirming Tenjin was toying with his computer. The captain's heart beat had calmed down a bit from before, but still pounded.
"Pity," Kouto smiled, "The excitement didn't finish the old coup off." The co-captain looked over his shoulder at the sound of the elevator rising to the chamber. His taser at the ready, he turned to face the doors with a smile on his face, holding the weapon behind his back.
"Edachi, do you mind getting that for me?" Kuoto addressed the Go-4 with the lifeless eyes. The man swayed to his feet, robotically walking to the elevator and plugging in the code to unlock the elevator. The doors slid open to reveal Bishamon and Kazuma, faces trained in stoic professionalism.
"Kugaha?" Kazuma narrowed his eyes at the Go-4 who did not respond in any way. Bishamon pressed her lips in a firm line and pushed past the man she gave a name too. Her Co-captian's half torn face made bile climb to her throat, but she didn't let it show. Bishamon met Kouto's eyes head on.
"Sir, where is the captain? Is he safe?" she asked.
"Yes, that Wall-E snapped and attacked him out of no where! I managed to hold him off but the captain is unconscious. I had Go-4 lock him in his chamber to safety recover." Kuoto explained, his face one of distress. Bishamon blinked at him, furry bubbling up from under her skin. She never wanted to beat someone so badly in her life. Bishamon instead walked to Tenjin's door, raising her hand to knock, only for her wrist to be grabbed. Behind her, Kugaha stepped towards them, Kazuma remained rooted by the door.
"Lieutenant General Bishamon," Kuoto's smile remained stiff, "I can take care of our beloved captain, I think you should join your troops in their effort to find the stowaways."
"There's no need for worry," Kazuma stepped forward, "We've captured the rebels and have all of their possessions in custody."
"Excellent work Secur-T. I can take it from here, where are the captives being held?" Kouto tossed Bishamon's wrist out of his hand and fixed his cuffs. Bishamon stood to face him, forcing her body into a more obedient stance.
"I'd be happy to take you to them sir, they need to be dealt with swiftly and their punishment just." Bishamon thought back to the Wall-E with blood stained hands and how he always managed to give her the slip. That bastard.
Something in her expression must have gave her thoughts away because Kuoto's one eye widened before he let out a slight laugh.
"Gave you a run for your money, did he? Don't let it get to you, he is more formidable than he looks." The Auto made his way towards the elevator, preparing to dismantle the one that got away.
"Yes, of course," Bishamon stepped to the side and followed him to the exit, "Kazuma, please ensure the captain is alright." she ordered. At this, Kouto stopped short. His feet just barely in the door.
"Go-4, remain here with him."
"Sir that isn't-"
"Lets go, Lieutenant." Kuoto turned and faced the door, his naked red eye flashing. Bishamon curled her fist and stepped in beside her superior, facing the door as it slid shut. Her eyes met Kazuma's, like a purple fire hitting turquoise water. He nodded to her once, then the heavy metal doors closed.
"I'm surprised Bishamon, coming here with only one Secur-T," his voice was level, not accusing at all. Bishamon thought of the two unconscious soldiers stuffed into a cleaning closet and cleared her throat. She signaled to Tsuguha and Akiha waiting at the bottom of the elevator.
"Yes, well, when they asked me to report to the captain's chambers I knew it was an emergency and felt it necessary to come right away. Not wanting to cause a scene, I left the rest to look after the traitors or attend to their daily duties. After all, we can't let the public notice anything's amiss. Their happiness is our top priority after all." Bishamon replied easily. Kuoto began to laugh at this. Getting louder and louder until it cut off so suddenly she thought he choked.
It was her. Bishamon's breath caught in her throat when she suddenly had a taser stuck to the side of her skull. Kuoto's good eye looked at her happily, while the glowing red orb embedded in under the ripped skin pierced her like a laser.
"I agree. Our passenger's happiness must be protected at all costs, and there's no way that can happen on a plant like Earth. They belong here, on Heaven's Sun, blindly following my every word. And if their happiness costs me a Secur-T or two," he smiled placidly, "than it's a decision I'm happy to make." The Auto twitched his finger and Bishamon let out a shout.
The sound of a body hitting the hard metal of the elevator floor shook the tube and resonated up towards the captains chamber. From his spot by the bookshelf, Kazuma flinched. He looked back towards the door, stretching his senses as far as he could but the elevator was too far down.
Kazuma shut the manual he was holding and put it back on the shelf with a sigh. He scanned the rows of books one last time, not a single one of them the unsaturated red of the plant manual that the Eve described. Kazuma looked over his shoulder, Kuguha staring unblinking, back at him. The once vocal man who would deliver resources to the Secur-T, now silent. Kazuma would have thought he was a wax statue had it not been for him following at least five steps behind. Kazuma took some air though his nose. He wasn't one for taking gambles, only calculated risks.
"Can you remind me again," Kazuma faced the Go-4 with a smile, "What's your name?" The Go-4 was unfazed.
"I obey the Co-pilot of this ship and respond to the name he gave me. Edachi." Edachi stated. Kazuma went stiff for a moment, anger boiling in his stomach, heart going out to his kind superior.
"You cast aside the name Bishamon gave you?" Kazuma narrowed his eyes at the stoic silence he received. His memory drive must have been wiped, his scanners couldn't bring up any internal data. There was something else. There were no updates from Bishamon on her well-being. Kazuma's eyes slid to the captain's bedroom, not a sign of life since the Auto and Bishamon left. Worry stretched across his chest and tugged his eyes once again to the elevator. He was a Secur-T built to serve and protect the humans of the ship. Especially the captain, who Bishamon entrusted to him.
Kazuma walked forward with his shoulders squared, not sparing a glance at Edachi. His footsteps echoed as he made his way to the door. Just as Kazuma's fingertips brushed the elevator's control pad, his wrist was grabbed. Kazuma look at his wrist, than at Edachi, eyes narrowing into hostility.
"Please forgive my rudeness, but I am under direct orders not to let you leave," Edachi said. Kazuma flicked his wrist and an elegant sword slid out of his sleeve. He swung at Edachi who leaned back just in time for the tip of the sheath to whizz by his nose.
Kazuma rolled his wrist out of Edachi's grip and moved to unsheathe his sword. It was an elegant, glowing green katakana with intricate dark green lines with small circles on the end. He signaled to these techno-stems to pulse electricity throughout the metal. The Go-4 produced a long taser, similar to the co-captain's. The two cyborgs stared at each other with narrowed eyes for a moment, then charged forward at inhuman speed. When they met, an explosion was heard.
Down stairs, once again tucked behind the towel shelves of the pool, a Wall-E was hidden with an Eve and a Mo at his side. This time, a completely and totally human man knelt beside Yato, and was working to stitch up his human skin.
"Again, Dr. Masaomi sir, I didn't know you were Hiyori's older brother, I am so sorry I thought you were trying to capture us and tried to hit you with my compactor. And about busting in your office and shooting up the place." Yato hissed as the needle weaved in and out of his tough skin. Masaomi just laughed, tugging the strings tight as Hiyori shushed him.
"That's alright. It was exciting! To think we're going to overthrow the government!" Masaomi gushed.
"Masaomi! We are not overthrowing the government!" Hiyori chided.
"Right," the doctor snapped and pointed at her, "mutiny." he said with a grin.
"Can we hurry it up please?" Yukine whispered urgently. He kept looking back at them from his spot at the edge of the shelves.
"How's it look, Yukine?" Hiyori asked. The Mo peaked out again.
"It looks like no one saw us. There have been cyborgs from the hospital escape that have passed by, but they had Secur-T bringing them into custody." Yukine said.
"What about Bishamon and Kazuma?"
"Nothing yet." Yukine crawled back and sat at Yato's head, frowning at his worsening wheezing.
"All done," Masaomi sat up with a happy sigh, "I did everything I could at skin level, so at least you don't have to worry about infection. If you even get that sort of thing. But we still need to wait for the Major General to deal with the tech stuff." Masaomi said as he wiped his hands and tools clean of blood. Yukine helped Yato into a sitting postion, both Masamoi and Hiyori stood.
"Masamoi, you need to go back to the hospital. I'm going up to help the Lueitentent General ." Hiyori said, clicking her gun snugly around her wrist.
"But! Bishamon said you needed to stay here!" Yukine urgetntly reminded. Masaomi put a hand on his little sister's shouler, the lightwieght flexible armor warm under his touch,
"He's right, leave this to the professionsonals."
"I am the professional. It is my sworn duty to get this plant into the Halo-detector and bring humanity home." Hiyori spoke with conviction. Her brother paused, mouth open slightly as his hand raised from her shoulder. Then, Masamoi smiled, and nodded to her. HIyori nodded back with a more nervous expression. She took a couple steps away before looking down at Yato. At first he seemed to be glaring at her, but he gave her a painful smile. Her heart didn't want to leave him, but if he was going to be strong for her, she could do the same. Hiyori smiled back at him, bringing some color back into his cheeks, then squared her shoulders and walked off.
Hiyori didn't even make it two steps away from their hiding spot when an explosion rocked the floor. It came from the hallway leading to the Captain's Chamber. Without a thought, Hiyori dashed towards the back of the ship. Her engine boots hitting the hard floor before scrambling to a take off. She gasped as she saw the glass of the lobby doors shattered across the floor. Bishamon laid in the middle of the lobby, Kiun on the floor beside her while Take stood between them and the co-pilot. Tsuguha and Akiha stood off to the side, Akiha welding a light blue dagger while Tsuguha crouched behind her a grey shield.
Hiyori screeched to a stop, landing unsteadily on her feet behind Bishamon. Kuoto stood blocking the elevator, which was completely wrecked. Scratches and dents lined the inside, while the doors looked like a cannon shot through them. Kuoto stepped on the pieces of metal flattening them. He hummed as his tongue licked the stream of blood that dripped from his head. His once pristine uniform was now stained and torn; something hard for even cyborgs to do to that type of fiber. Bishamon didn't look much better, the skin of her stomach looked singed and bloody.
"Ah Miss Iki, so glad you can join us. Here to avenge your boyfriend? I'll get to you in just a minute, there's someone ahead of you." Kuoto said with a smile. His arm shifted at his side and Hiyori saw he wore a gun similar to her own. The white and black metal engulfed his fore arm, stretching out into a thin nozzle. Hiyori quickly turned her pistol on him, teeth bared. In front of her, Bishamon shouted her name, and stood with a massive purple sword. When she raised it, the dark purple flame pattern began to glow.
"Now now that's not fair," Kuoto raised his hands in a huff, "Six against one? Where are your manners?" The interior of his rifle began whirl, a ball of red light gathering at its tip. He then swung it to point at Tsuguha. The young Secur-T flinched, but gripped her shield tight.
"What are you doing, sir?" Take asked in alarm.
"Tsuguha don't!" Bishamon shouted.
"It's alright Lieutenant General! I have confidence in being your shield!" Tsuguha shouted back with a forced smile. Bishamon struggled to roll on her stomach.
"No Tsuguha! You don't understand the weapon of an Auto Pilot," Bishamon stretched an arm out in desperation. The gun in Hiyori's hand began to tremble. Kuoto was in her line of vision, nothing blocking her shot. His gun was pointed elsewhere. His focus wasn't even on her. She could shot him right now and end all this.
"Now then, lets level the playing field a little bit," Kuoto said. The air hissed and whined as the ball got bigger and brighter, before firing so fast it appeared to be a spear of light. Tsuguha's shield glowed a hot orange, the molten metal a gaping hole that matched the hole in the wall behind her, and the red one in the girl's torso.
"Tsuguha!" Bishamon cried. Tsuguha's shield clattered to the ground as the cyborg's lifeless body fell to the side. Blood quickly soaked her uniform and puddled on the floor as the open wires that laced her insides sparked uselessly.
The room went silent as Kuoto let out a slow breath and waved the tip of his gun to cool it. He then looked back at Bishamon, who's hand dropped into a fist at her side.
"Hiyori," Bishamon growled low.
"Y-yes?"
"Go help Kazuma with the captain. Get him to turn on the Hallo-Detector," Bishamon commanded in a low yet powerful tone, "Akiha, follow her."
"Okay," Hiyori forced out. This was not her job. As much as she wanted to help, she would just get in the way. As an Eve, the plant needed to get to the captain. But there was no way she could make it past Kuoto. Hiyori fired on her boots and took off back out the door.
"Leaving so soon? That's not very polite," Kuoto pointed his rifle at Hiyori, "Someone should really teach you man-" he whipped his gun in front of his body just in time for Bishamon to slam her sword into it. His smile was wiped away by the sheer furosity in her expression, her mouth was pulled back to show bared teeth and her eyes cackled with intensity.
"Your opponent is me!" she howled, pushing harder against him. Kuoto narrowed his eyes with a grunt as he felt himself leaning back. She no longer cared about her own well-being, and that suited him just fine.
Hiyori could hear the Luteient General's battle cry from half way up the tower. She shook her head to focus and willed her boots to go higher. The glass still had a hole in it from Yato's fight. Hiyori went towards it, hovering so that her eyes could just peak over the ledge.
Kazuma was heaving breaths from his spot indented in the far wall. Edachi was leaning heavily against the control panel, his blood-soaked poncho torn on one side to reveal his missing hand. Kazuma pushed himself out of the wall and landed unsteadily on his feet. His body swayed as he squared his shoulders and put his hands up. The Go-4 did the same, taser held out between them.
In a flash they were at it again, Kazuma's speed and skill as a Secur-T giving him the upper hand, but what Edachi lacked in training, he made up with desperate ferocity and the raw power of electricity. Hiyori crawled in through the window, landing stealthily on the ground like a Wall-E trying to surprise an Eve.
"Kazuma!" Hiyori got their attention, her gun trained on the Go-4. Without looking down she kicked Kazuma his sword, firing at Edachi when he lunged to grab it. Kazuma scooped it up with practiced ease as Edachi landed howling in pain on the ground, the skin of his ankle burned off. Kazuma set up to face him, but Hiyori stepped forward. Akiha came barreling in across the room from the elevator. When he saw his Major with his sword pointed, his knife came out and he faced the Go-4 without another word.
"Kazuma get the captain! You're the only one who can hack the screen-lock." Hiyori narrowed her eyes as the Go-4 rose to stand. Kazuma looked between them, unsure if an Eve could handle this maniac. If he got in close quarters she was done for, Akiha would be too far away to reach her in time. For some reason, the image of a Wall-E's sharp eyes flashed across his mind and a chill went down his spine.
"Miss Iki, I dont think-"
"That won't be necessary, Eve." A voice cut off the Secur-T. Everyone turned to see the captain's door open and Tenjin sitting with his remote control in his hand.
"Captain!" Hiyori and Kazuma shouted together. The feelings of relief were drowned out when Edachi let out and inhuman roar and raced full throttle at the captain.
"Watch out!" Kazuma tried to tackled him. Hiyori shot at his feet, missing as Edachi swerved and jumped just like his superior had.
"Captian!" Hiyori cried. But Tenjin remained calm, pointing what looked like a television remote at his attacker. With one tap of a button, the Go-4 thudded to the ground, not another sound coming out of him.
"The next time I turn you off," Tenjin said to the limp body, "I expect you to stay that way." Hiyori ran to her captain, gun still pointed at the cyborg on the floor. Kazuma followed, taking the opportunity to cuff Edachi.
"Captain, what was that?" Hiyori asked. Tenjin showed her his bedroom television remote.
"Is everyone ok?" Akiha ran over, holding the Go-4's collar by the orders of the Major General.
"I spent the time in my room modifying it to activate the force shut down on the workers of this ship," he explained. Hiyori was impressed but the thought terrified her.
"This means we can shut down the Auto!" Hiyori said, a weight lifting off her chest.
"No, the Auto was not created on this ship. That type of function has to manual," Tenjin sighed, "Which means we have to get him to willingly let us."
"Or it means we'll have to force him," Kazuma stated, sheathing his sword. Hiyori looked at the kind Secur-T with shock, while the captain just wore a hard expression.
"Captain," Kazuma took a step towards them, "You're the only one who can. You're the only one who knows his blue-prints." Hiyori looked over at Tenjin, his face grave with a scowl.
"Yes, I understand. But I want him up here, away from the passengers." Tenjin insisted. Kazuma nodded in agreement. He rather that psycho away from Bishamon.
"We also have to open the Hallo-Detector! Yato and Yukine are guarding the plant right next to the pool deck!" Hiyori reminded them. Tenjin looked at her with a determined expression.
"That I can do," a thought came to him, "Eve, I'll need you to bring up your security camera. Major General, start up an official announcement to every tv, advertisement, and personal screen on this ship. Secur-T, you are to take that traitor to the jail cell and guard him with at least one other guard that you can trust." The last words were deep with importance.
"Yes sir!" The three saluted. Tenjin hovered forward towards the glowing green button. It's casing was cracked from the fight but it flashed with just as much urgency as the first time. Tenjin flipped the lid and pushed it down, causing the entire ship to turn green.

we know serena is very aware june worked fred when she needed to, is it maybe possible that one of the reasons she pushed june away is because she thinks june's working her the way she worked fred? as drawn as she is to june, and as much as she wants to be close to her, I think serena thinks june is just manipulating her (which she is to some extent) so she can't have june as her secure attachment bc she doesn't trust june genuinely cares for her. what do you think?
I think this is it.
June is clearly and unequivocally manipulating Serena to every extent (or attempting to and failing, more like, lol). No question. And I think at first Serena wasn’t totally aware of that cos she was so lost in her own selfish grief and June spoke to her delusions that she wanted to hang onto. But as she slowly came out of that funk, she clued in. 3x04 by the pool, she seemed very aware what was going on and June was certainly not subtle either.
I don’t think June had a single conversation with Serena all season that wasn’t pushing her in some way to join the cause, blah blah blah. (WHAT REBELLION, JUNE? WHERE IS IT? In your imagination. That’s where, you dumbshit.) June does not seem to see anything in Serena except a means to an end. A tool to be used. And of course eventually, Serena’s gonna snap out of her haze and recognise what June is trying.
Just like she did in 2x06.
June is literally playing the same stupid game again, except this time much more badly lol. At least in 2x06 she was genuine and honest. The minute June asked about Hannah in 2x06, Serena flipped her switch. And she was crying. Like, what happened there is very telling about the dynamic. Serena thought she finally made a friend. (Idiotic belief coming from a woman who routinely abused and helped rape said “friend”.) Then when June makes it clear she’s only being nice to get something about Hannah from Serena, they both blow up. Serena cries and then goes all crazy Edward Scissorhands on her poor plants, while lamenting to Fred about how June is always plotting, always wanting something, and how she finally thought they could be –friends? We don’t know what she was gonna say cos she stabs herself on a rose. Meanwhile, June rages around her sitting room and yells at Nick about Serena, and then about him. Both of them thinking that the other would just be a friend, or decent person at the very least.
It’s basically a smaller version of what’s happened in S3.
So, not only has Serena seen June try to play other people, but she has direct experience with it as well.
“she doesn’t trust june genuinely cares for her“
TBH, I wouldn’t either. June basically stopped caring as soon as Nichole was out.Nothing June has done in S3 for Serena has been kind or caring, except for 3x01, sort of. After that? Nope. All June did is enable Serena’s delusions in an attempt to manipulate her and needle her constantly. (And, June wonders why that backfired?) And then by 3x04, June did the exact thing a friend would NOT do: encourage a hopeless, vulnerable woman to return to her abusive, rapist, cheating, violent husband. It’s fucking gross. Yes, without Fred Serena has no power, but why does she need power? For June. June wanted Serena to have power for her own needs, not Serena’s. She wanted to work Serena like a puppet using Fred’s power.
No shit Serena wouldn’t be cool with that plan when she eventually caught on.
And by June doing that, not only would Serena feel used and manipulated and react accordingly, but June’s whole plan just reinforced all the worst bits: that Serena is useless without Fred, that Serena is Nichole’s mother – and thus has rights to her, that there is no place for Serena other than being a Wife, etc. etc. By the end of 3x04, it seems like Serena has caught on that June isn’t on her side so she just slips back into her old self, cos that’s what she knows and that’s all she can be.
I think even if Serena is drawn to June (she is, imo), and if she does want to be close to her (she does), nothing June has done really gives much trust in that. June hasn’t acted like someone who cares about Serena’s well-being. And, I get it, why should she? Why should June care about Serena in any way after all this? But if you want someone to trust you and be on your side, you have to manipulate them a little better than that. June was just SO OBVIOUS. It’s cringeworthy. And to try that shit on Serena, of course she’s gonna see through it eventually. Maybe Fred won’t cos he’s a fucking moron, but Lawrence did easily and Serena did too, I think.
Which is also why Serena is the way she is in 3x05 and 3x06. 3x05 shows Serena flip the script and emotionally manipulate June by using her name. And it works… Then in 3x06 she actively tries to avoid June’s pleading cos IMO Serena knows she’s vulnerable to June’s advances. Because she does care and she does want. But she also is torn the other way too. So, you have the same sort of explosion in 3x06 that happened in 2x06, just 3x06 is a long drawn out version of the buildup to it, and the ultimate reasons are more dramatic and more hurtful. And in 3x06 they take it out on each other directly, instead of on plants or boyfriends lol like in 2x06, so you have a full on break up scene play out.
June’s trying to manipulate Serena’s emotions to get something from her, and Serena catches on.
June gets disappointed in Serena’s lack of … everything. She’s not who June wants her to be–which is a much better person, and I do think June weirdly hangs onto some sort of strange futile belief in that. Or did up until 3x06 anyway.
Serena is trying to connect/wants to believe she’s connecting with another person, and realises it’s all a ploy.
Then…
BOOM.
So, yeah, I deffo think Serena actively chose to push June away because she knows she’s very susceptible to June’s manipulations and “goodness”, and because she can’t trust in a secure attachment, like you said. Why would she? Nothing June has said or done is something that would inspire trust at all. “Hey, I care about you so how about you go do this thing that endangers your life and makes you super miserable cos, well, you can get me what I want?” Totally seems believable. The only time June actually sort of protects/stands up for Serena in S3 is that one sentence in that one convo with Fred about “Is that what your wife wants?” (And perhaps also the bit about “I don’t think she ever did [like knitting, etc.]”. But Serena wouldn’t know that anyway. All she knows is every single time she and June are alone, June launches into a plot to overthrow the government lol, at everyone else’s expense except her own. And lbr, it’s not even about other women, or rebellion, or destroying Gilead, or protecting Serena lmao, it’s ALL about getting Hannah back and escaping Gilead. That is ALL June is interested in. Let’s be really real. That woman is not interested in being a leader of any revolution unless it gets her what she personally wants, fuck everyone else.
And I’m sure Serena sees that too. Why wouldn’t she push June away? Say the worst possible things to her to ensure she stays away, and thus gives Serena all the ammo she needs to justify hurting her and getting Nichole back too.
God, I love these two.
Now, of course, there’s even more to it both about the politics and psychology, but just dealing with this particular angle is good for now. :)
