my friend was giving me a writing prompt and said I should put jane and ocean in a room together
and wanting to be annoying I said "they'd fuck."
then he said "that's your response to everything!!! like... what if curt and owen existed?"
"they'd shoot each other"
"and???"
"and die."
I'm proud of that conversation I think I won

JUNGLELAND (2019) Grade: C
Interesting concept that had some potential. The plot was a mix bag. The ending was a let down and a little cheesy. Jack O'Connell was good though.

i'm still setting up my muse directory, but i thought i would compile a list of the muses i write as under the read more.

Hi Ada! 33 and 40 for the writers ask please 💜
Tumblr media
Hello Dalawa! Hope Tuesday's being terrific to you. I'm sure I'm going to ramble on and on so I'll just go ahead and dive right in!
4. Do you have any OCs? Do you have a story for them?
Oh boy, do I. I have four principal ones but I have the occasional one (or two) off character as I sometimes do.
I think I have a new favorite though; and his name is Beau Russell. He's originally from the Appalachian area and he's not afraid to let Carlos know it. I'm hesitant to give too much away as I want to keep things a surprise but I can tell you who I've cast as who:
Beau Russell is Clive Owen circa 2003 (I don't know why the photo is in black and white but it really does add to his character lol)
Tumblr media
Kiernan O'Connell is 1990s Adam Baldwin (No relation to the infamous Baldwin family, well, slight relation, he's a distant cousin)
Tumblr media
Linda Alcott is mid 2010s Samara Weaving
Tumblr media
Dot Chambers is Maia Mitchell
Tumblr media
33. Give your writing a compliment.
You know, I'm thinking I'm really good at writing poetic prose without going too purple. I also think I'm really good at taking a common phrase and turning it on its head. To this day, one of my favorite lines I've ever written is:
TK’s a little disheartened at the realization. He used to know this city like the back of his hand; now he feels like he’s wearing a glove.
That and I think I've really got a knack for world building. Just yesterday I was telling my friend that I can't wait to dive in to the Old West AU head because I want it to be so big.
I want to talk about a church spire casting a shadow across the ground Carlos walks on. I want to talk about how the stars cluster above and how the open flame of the fire is a perfect contrast to the darkened blue of the night sky. I want to talk about the blood stained mouths of wolves that have just had their last meal.
I want to do all of it!
40. Write a 9-word fic.
"TK," His name tumbles from Carlos' lips. "Where's Lou II?"
ask me about writing <3

AllMusic Staff Pick: Jerry Douglas Slide Rule
On Slide Rule, Jerry Douglas moves away from the jazz experiments of Plant Early, returning to the straightforward bluegrass of his early work. The result is a stunner, featuring not only a remarkable performance from Douglas, but also an impressive list of guest musicians, including Alison Krauss, Sam Bush, Maura O'Connell, Stuart Duncan, and Tim O'Brien.

Beginning with a boom: leaving Ireland and coming to the U.S.
I excerpted this from the original post on the WordPress version of this blog, where this, and the previous post are in one document.
Cashel, where the Bibbys were mainly living, is an ancient settlement, that has served as an “ecclesiastical hub and military fortress” and once the “seat of the Kings of Munster.” The town was built around a limestone rock (“Rock of Castel” or “St. Patrick’s Rock”) which dominates the history of the area. This rock, one of the most visited sites in Ireland today, gave the settlement is name, and is only 500 meters from the center of the town. The town itself sits at the head of the “beautiful Cashel Bay,” with a ringfort or cashel/caiseal surrounding the graveyard presently in the town. It also sits in southern Ireland, about 30 miles away from Limerick, and only has a population about 2,200 currently. By the 1800s, there was “lively political activity” in the town including the first Repeal meeting in 1843 hosted by Daniel O'Connell. All in all, the town is a place with a “rich history” and is situated within the Irish countryside.
In years that followed varying Bibbys and Millses would be living (and be born) within County Tipperary, some in Ballysheehan, and others in related places. From 1825-1827, they were in an area comprising of 880 miles, all within County Tipperary. One event, the residence of one Owen Bibby, was far afield, in Newcastle parish at the southern party of County Tipperary was the outlier. Apart from showing the residence of Millses (two men named John Mills, Edward Mills, and Joseph Mills), and Bibbys (Samuel Bibby, Thomas Bibby, and Benjamin Bibby), this seems to again show that the two families could have easily crossed paths before coming to the United States. The map of the locations themselves shows this to be the case:
Tumblr media
Figure 1.3. This map of lived locations in County Tipperary 1825-1828, is courtesy of Google Earth Pro. Markers for places were named and labeled using the program.
By the early 1830s, these two families were still in the same area. Some, like Nicholas Bibby, were living in Crohane, Terma & Garrysalla. Others, like John Mills, were in “Ballysheehane Parish.” In circa 1832, Thomas Mills, possibly the brother of John Mills, Edward Mills, and Joseph Mills previously mentioned, married a woman, whose name is not known, in Templetuohy. [1] This town is located in the northeast part of County Tipperary, but probably only 15-20 miles away from Ballysheehan. The stage was set for a change that would definitely “rock their boats.”
In 1834, Thomas Mills was the first Mills, of this group, to leave Ireland. On July 9, he left Waterford, possibly coming by boat from Cashel to the port city. From there he boarded a boat likely filled with many other immigrants which sailed to the United States. Two months later, in September, in a journey which was likely fraught with some level of peril, he arrived in New York City. He then settled in Warren County, New York where he established his residence. The question that still remains is: why did he settle in that county at that time? The Irish Potato Famine (also called the “Great Hunger” and “Great Famine”) had not begun yet, only lasting from 1845 to 1852 as recognized generally by scholars. Unfortunately, as the Irish National Archives points out, Irish Transportation Registers from 1790 to 1836 were “destroyed in the fire at the Four Courts in 1922,” so that can’t be found. However, it could be said that he was moving there because of dislocation in Ireland or something else entirely. What is evident is that a Mills family member was established in Warren County, New York in 1834.
The following year, John Mills also left Ireland. He arrived in New York City by August after leaving Waterford in 1835. He also settled in Warren County, New York, perhaps traveling via boat up the Hudson River, from the “lower” to the “upper” part. While many towns, such as Queensbury, Lake Luzerne, Bolton, and Chester were formed in the latter 18th century, it was not until 1810 that the town of Lake George was established, and Glens Falls incorporated in 1839, springing out of Queensbury. He would, like Thomas Mills, plant his roots in Warren County. When he gave a statement as part of his naturalization process to become a US Citizen, [2] he did not mention his wife or any children like Thomas Mills who noted he had three children, and a wife whose name he did not disclose.

Notes
[1] According to from-ireland.net’s “Ireland Church Index” there are at least 31 churches in County Tipperary. Considering this, it is possible the Mills and Bibby families were Catholic. However, their names do not turn up in Catholic parish registers. If they were Protestants, this would have been a powerful impetus for them to come to the United States. It is not known, however, how much of Warren County, NY was Protestant or Catholic but it was a big destination for Irish immigrants.
[2] The naturalization law, which is how John Mills, among others, became a citizen, was revised in 1824. To summarize it, one had to make an affirmation to the US, denounce rulers of county they left. Also says that person has to live in the US for at least 5 years. Mainly applies to those over age 21. It did not apply to spouses of immigrants, meaning it basically only applied to male immigrants. Later the law would change but at the time he was applying under this law. This law will later figure in this story. But it worth mentioning it because it shaped the stories of the Mills and Bibby family members who immigrated to the United States from Ireland.
