This pendant was inspired by the Great Goddess of the Wilderness, the protectress of nature and all creatures of the wild. She’s been called many names… Beira/ The Cailleach, Skadi, Artemis… to name a few. She’s known as a great giver, and fierce defender if proper respect for the natural world isn’t maintained. She’s our connection to the wild… our truest selves… and the original archetype of the “Wild Woman”.
Tumblr media
The Cailleach in particular has long been associated with owls. Likewise as a spirit guide, owls are known to be the keepers of the hidden wisdom of the forest. They observe all, with the ability to see clearly into the dark night. The owl can lead us through the unknown, and teach us the intuitive ways of nature’s magic. Their presence can herald deep and profound inner change, and can often be symbolic of a life transition. Owl energy is wonderfully depicted in the well known nursery rhyme… “A wise old owl lived in an oak, The more he saw, the less he spoke The less he spoke, the more he heard, Now, wasn't he a wise old bird?”
Tumblr media
The owl teaches us to attentively listen to nature, and open our eyes to that which we intuitively know. It’s a lesson words cannot teach, and something we can only learn when we open our hearts to nature’s potent medicine.

Senseless
To not be off this world, but a part of it, a ghost with nothing to connect them, a mortal present. powers of mind and spirit don't affect them, for they are the power itself.
Senseless, to have bonds born of trust.
Senseless, shields to a colorful world.
Senseless, guides to an invisible world.
Senseless, to exist without being known.
Senseless, the senses of unknown world.
Senseless, living ghosts.
Senseless, the power of the mind and spirit.

“Yule” comes from Old English geol, which shares a history with the equivalent word from Old Norse, jól. Both these words referred to a midwinter festival centered around the winter solstice, which traditionally marked the halfway point of the winter season. After the solstice—the shortest day of the year—the days again begin to grow longer, so it’s thought that Yule was a celebration of the re-appearance of the Sun &the fertile land’s rebirth.
The celebration of Yule is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world. Ancient people were hunters & spent most of their time outdoors. The seasons & weather played a significant part in their lives. The customs and traditions associated with it vary widely.
Scholars have connected the original celebrations of Yule to the Wild Hunt, the god Odin, and the heathen Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht ("Mothers' Night")
Some believe it marks the rebirth of the Sun (the God) from the Earth (the Goddess) & the cold days of winter will soon begin to wane. The Goddess is seen in her virgin Maiden aspect
In towns and cities throughout Sweden during the Christmas season, large goats are constructed out of straw. It is thought that the tradition originated in ancient times, perhaps as a tribute to the god Thor, who was said to ride in a chariot pulled by goats. In Sweden the goat came to be associated with the Christmas celebration, and the Yule goat is now considered by many to be a companion or counterpart to Santa Claus.
Related festivals:
Christmas- An annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ as the son of God, primarily observed on December 25th
Hanukkah- A Jewish festival commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem & subsequent rededication of the Second Temple at the beginning of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BCE.
Hanukkah is observed for eight nights & days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is observed by lighting the candles of a candelabrum with nine branches, commonly called a menorah or hanukkiah.
Kwanzaa- An annual celebration of African-American culture from December 26 to January 1st, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually on the sixth day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West & Southeast Africa. Kwanzaa was first celebrated in 1966.
A Kwanzaa ceremony may include drumming and musical selections, libations, a reading of the African Pledge & the Principles of Blackness, reflection on the Pan-African colors, a discussion of the African principle of the day or a chapter in African history, a candle-lighting ritual, artistic performance & finally, a feast of faith (Karamu Ya Imani).
Saturnalia-
is an ancient Roman festival and holiday in honour of the god Saturn, held on 17 December of the Julian calendar & later expanded with festivities through to 23 December. The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, in the Roman Forum & a public banquet, followed by private gift-giving, continual partying & a carnival atmosphere that overturned Roman social norms: gambling was permitted & masters provided table service for their slaves as it was seen as a time of liberty for both slaves and freedmen alike.
A common custom was the election of a "King of the Saturnalia", who gave orders to people, which were followed & presided over the merrymaking. The gifts exchanged were usually gag gifts or small figurines made of wax or pottery known as sigillaria. The poet Catullus called it "the best of days".
Other celebrations:
Feast of Epona-
Eponalia is the feast day of Gaulish Goddess Epona, the Divine Mare & in the time of the Roman Empire it was celebrated on December 18th.
Epona is known to be one of a very few Gaulish deities whose names were spread to the rest of the Roman Empire. This seems to have happened because Roman cavalry units stationed in Gaul followed Her & adopted her as their Patroness. This may have started because many of the cavalry troops were conscripted from Gaul as they were superb horsemen. From Gaul the Romans took Epona with them including to Rome where She was given her own feast day on the 18 December. They worshipped her as Epona Augusta or Epona Regina & invoked her on behalf of the Emperor. She even had a shrine in the barracks of the Imperial Bodyguard.
Hunting of the Wren-
A traditional custom carried out on the Isle of Man on the 26 December, St. Stephen's Day. It consists of groups of people going around villages and towns singing and dancing a traditional song and dance around a decorated wren pole.
The earliest and most common folklore story accounting for the origin of hunt the wren tells of a fairy/enchantress/witch whose beauty lures the men of the Isle of Man to harm, for which she is chased and is changed into the form of a wren. It is therefore in punishment for her actions that the wren is hunted on St. Stephen's Day

No Warnings, Pure Softness

Raphael lounged in his chair, sipping on a glass of wine as his eyes scanned over his newly acquired poetry book you had brought back for him. As always, you had an uncanny ability to choose books he thoroughly enjoyed. Setting down his glass he glanced down at you. Your head rested on his thigh, your arms wrapped around his leg holding him close to your chest while you sat on the ground next to him.
He gently played with your hair, letting the strands fall through his fingers before gently massaging your scalp. You let out a soft little mewl as he hit a particular spot on your head, causing goosebumps to form on your arms. It made Raphael chuckle. You were practically purring under his ministrations.
"You’ve quite the talent for bringing me the finest of treasures." he murmured, a smile on his face as you tilted your head back to look up at him. You returned the smile with a soft hum, letting your cheek rest against his thigh.
"You deserve nothing but the best, my love." you said softly, your hand lightly stroking his calf. "I like seeing you happy... I only wish i could've gotten you the crown, but Gale..."
Raphael shook his head, his fingers leaving your hair to cup your chin. With a tender tilt, he guided your sight to lock with his own. "All in due time, my precious little mouse. Time shall turn the tide, but for now we must embrace patience. Upon the arrival of my child, our ranks shall swell with another soul to seek the crown."
You nodded slightly, nuzzling his palm as his hand shifted, your lips graced by his thumb before it finds its way back to your hair to resume its work.
You relaxed, your eyes closing while massaging your swollen stomach, "Read to us, Raphael?" you requested, "Please? It's something i truly enjoy, besides... Your voice, it's so beautiful... And I can't imagine your little one not liking it either."
How could he not concede to such a heartfelt plea? "Very well," Turning his attention back to his book, he started to read aloud a poem from his new volume. His voice low and melodious, soothing you, your eyes fluttered closed as you listened.
"In the bristling thicket, small and meek,
A mouse with a spirit far from weak,
Nibbled on seeds, a feast so slight,
Aware of the fox in the pale moonlight,"
-The rhythmic tone of his voice, the smooth flow of his words, it made a tingle of heat form within your belly-
“Not a hunter, but a friend,
Vowed to shield her to the end,
Against the hawk, against the owl,
In the night when creatures prowl.
A pact unseen by day's bright light,
Forged in trust through the quiet night.”
Your hand slid up his thigh and he shifted, spreading his legs open. A subtle invitation for whatever it is you wished to do. You shifted, rising to your knees and leaning forward between his legs. Your arms wrapped around his waist best they could so you could use his stomach as a pillow.
“Each night beneath the star's gentle sweep,
He guards her dreams, her peaceful sleep,
Whiskers twitching, she slumbers unaware,
Of the fox’s gentle loving stare.”
Raphael paused, glancing down at you. Your eyes were shut, your breathing slowed. Like the mouse in his book it would seem sleep had taken its hold on you.
Setting his book aside he carefully shifted you. He pulled you into his lap, his hand finding its way to the swell of your stomach as he held you in a protective embrace.
Raphael could feel his little one wriggle and shift in the safety of your womb. Gently he brushed a strand of hair out of your face, his eyes studying your features.
Just like the fox in the book, Raphael silently vowed to protect you and his little one to the very end. And that the hells would bend to his will once he has the crown, and all will be well.

The night hung over Jackson like a heavy blanket, and the air was crisp with the scent of burnt wood and pine. You and Ellie sat by a crackling campfire with your friends, Jesse and Dina. The warmth of the flames danced on your faces, creating a cozy spot in the midst of the messed-up world you had lived in. Despite everything going south, laughter echoed through the air, a quick getaway from the tough reality.
Ellie, with her short auburn hair and a glint of mischief in her eyes, sat close to you. The sight of her made you smile, as you comfortably leaned against Ellie, your fingers entwined as you enjoyed the warmth of both the fire and each other.
Jesse and Dina were busy chatting about the best way to cook a rabbit they'd snagged earlier. Ellie, always the stubborn and funny one, jumped in with her comments that left everyone laughing. You, with your contagious giggles, added to the mix of joy around the campfire.
As the night went on, a subtle change started sneaking in. A calm tiredness settled upon you, your yawns showing you were getting sleepy. Ellie, being the observant one, couldn't help but notice the signs of weariness in her girlfriend's eyes.
The flickering flames danced to an unheard melody, casting shadows that played on the tired lines etched on your face.
"Feeling tired, baby?” Ellie asked, a teasing grin playing on her lips. The weariness in your eyes didn't go unnoticed.
You managed a half-hearted nod, eyelids heavy with exhaustion. "Maybe a bit."
Without a moment's hesitation, Ellie unzipped her jacket and gracefully slid it off her shoulders. With a tender smile, she draped it over you, you welcomed the warmth with a grateful expression. The jacket, still infused with Ellie's scent, enveloped like a protective cocoon against the cool night air.
"Here, babe. Don't want you catching a chill out here," Ellie said, her voice carrying a gentle concern that spoke volumes about your bond. You mustered a tired but appreciative smile, pulling the jacket snugly around your body. "Thanks Els”.
As the night progressed, the embers of the fire waned, mirroring your diminishing energy. You found herself leaning against Ellie, who welcomed the contact with open arms. Ellie's embrace was a sanctuary, a refuge from the weariness that threatened to consume you soon. The gentle warmth radiating between you was not just a product of the crackling flames; it was a reflection of the genuine affection that had blossomed throughout the months.
The night wore on, and the distant sounds of crickets provided a soothing backdrop. Ellie's fingers traced absentminded patterns on your arm, a silent reassurance that spoke of your unspoken understanding. Despite the fatigue, a quiet contentment settled over you, a shared moment that showed friendship had evolved into something deeper—an unbreakable bond forged through shared laughter, challenging trails, and quiet moments like these.
Your breathing became slower, the rhythmic rise and fall of your chest matching the hypnotic dance of the firelight. Ellie, too, felt the exhaustion of the day's struggles, but the warmth of you against her provided a unique comfort that energized her spirit. With a gentle touch, Ellie adjusted the jacket around you, ensuring you were snug and protected. The night air carried a crisp scent of pine, and the distant hooting of an owl.
Amidst the laughter and chatter of your friends, you gave in to the lull of sleep. Ellie couldn't help but steal glances at you, a fond smile on her lips. She watched as your breathing evened out, the calm look on her face turning the tough reality into a short moment of peace.
Ellie stuck around with her friends a bit longer, not wanting to wake you from the much-needed nap. Jesse and Dina exchanged knowing glances, silently acknowledging the sweet scene unfolding before them. Eventually, the night quieted down, and Ellie knew it was time to take you home.
As Ellie greeted them and carefully maneuvered away from the group, she felt a pang of reluctance to disturb the peace that had settled upon you. Gently lifting your head from her shoulder, Ellie marveled at the way your features softened in slumber. A small, contented sigh escaped out of your lips. Cradling you in her arms, Ellie couldn't help but marvel at the simplicity of finding solace in the person she loved, even if just for a moment.
The walk back to your cabin was a quiet, walking beneath the moonlit canopy of Jackson. Ellie led the way, each step accompanied by the rhythmic rustle of leaves under her boots. You stirred slightly in Ellie's arms, eyes fluttering open for a brief moment before surrendering once more to the embrace of sleep. Ellie smiled down, a silent acknowledgment of the weariness you both carried.
"Almost there, love” Ellie whispered, her voice a gentle murmur. "You can keep snoozin' if you want."
You managed a drowsy smile, nuzzling even
closer to Ellie. "Mm, comfy. 'S nice."
The cabin's door creaked open under Ellie's careful hand, revealing the dimly lit interior. A lantern cast a warm, golden glow across the small space, transforming it into a haven against the darkness outside. As Ellie laid you on the bed, the tenderness in her touch spoke volumes of how much she cared about you.
The worn blankets, proof to the shared history of countless nights, cradled together like a cocoon. Ellie gently managed to take your shoes off of you, not wanting to wake you up.
She covered you with a blanket and with a soft smile, she quietly kicked off her boots before climbing in beside you.
As Ellie snuggled up beside you, she felt the warmth enveloping you in the cozy cabin. You laid comfortably, in that sweet space between being awake and drifting off, letting out a happy sigh as Ellie pulled you in close.
Ellie's fingers played with your hair, a soft smile tugging at her lips as she she watched you. Your eyelashes fluttered a bit, responding to the soothing touch. Outside, the leaves rustled quietly, a noise that seemed to match the rhythm of your breaths.
As Ellie continued playing with your hair, the outside world faded away, leaving only the comforting sounds of their cozy cabin. Amidst the quiet, your soft words broke through,  barely audible.
“I love you," you mumbled, the words hanging sweetly in the air. Ellie's heart skipped a beat at the sincerity in your voice. A warmth, deeper than the blankets around you, spread through Ellie. Without missing a beat, Ellie whispered back, "I love you too, baby,” confirming the love that bound you both together.
As Ellie continued to run her fingers through your hair, a peaceful calm settled over you. The moon added a soft glow through the window, landing softly on your skin.
In the quiet, your breathing steadied, and murmurs faded into a serene silence. Ellie, still holding you close, admiring your sweet nose and how you’d snore a little every now and then. As you slipped into dreams, Ellie held you a bit tighter, cherishing the warmth of your togetherness.
The tired lines had disappeared, leaving behind the peaceful look of someone not bothered by the chaos outside. Ellie couldn't help but be amazed at the simple beauty of the moment—the calmness of sleep, the warmth of shared blankets, and the gentle rise and fall of your chest.
As Ellie closed her eyes, tiredness taking over herself as well. The world might have gone haywire, but in that small cabin in Jackson, love and comfort ruled. They slept, tangled together in the embrace of their own little cabin, finding peace in each other.

Rolls over
So Wolfwood may allude to a Psychopomp,
Psychopomps (from the Greek word ψυχοπομπός, psychopompós, literally meaning the 'guide of souls') are creatures, spirits, angels, demons or deities in many religions whose responsibility is to escort newly deceased souls from Earth to the afterlife.
Their role is not to judge the deceased, but simply to guide them. Appearing frequently on funerary art, psychopomps have been depicted at different times and in different cultures as anthropomorphic entities, horses, deer, dogs, whip-poor-wills, ravens, crows, vultures, owls, sparrows, and cuckoos.
One notable Psychopomp is Charon(which is also one of Pluto's five moons) the ferryman who collected coins as payment, whose name is a poetic form of χαρωπός (charopós) 'of keen gaze', referring either to fierce, flashing, or feverish eyes, or to eyes of a bluish-gray color.
bluish-gray...

Another Psychopomp is Mercury, guider of souls to the underworld and "messenger of the gods", planet and metal named after him, noted as “both destructive and creative”.
Tumblr media
“The elusive, duplicitous Mercurius who consorts with the devil
Tumblr media
is at the same time a redeeming psychopomp”,
“The fact that he can freely participate in both light and dark worlds without taint makes Mercurius the perfect meditating bridge."
The metal known as quicksilver for being fluid and because of it's colour:

(Wolfwood I love you but finding a good shot of your eye-colour is a pain in the ass!)
Now in Stampede he doesn't have any of these eye-colours but his role as a Psychopomp is still alluded to via the undertaker title(those who were given burial rites are able to meet Charon and cross the river Styx) and of course, being outright called a guide(btw Saint Peter was also considered a Psychopomp:)).
Still with me? Now let's discuss Legato for a bit, This is still part of the Psychopomp thing because Orange might be doing something that's making me go crazy(in a good way).
In the manga Legato is Not a Psychopomp, he does have death imagery but invokes it via war and destruction, thus it associates him with Mars and iron, one well known iron-cyanide complex often used as a pigment is Prussian blue(Berlin blue, Paris blue) or "ferric ferrocyanide", and it looks like this:

Tumblr media
Now reason I'm pointing out that he's not a Psychopomp in the manga is because one of the lovely participants in Tristampparty had pointed out in their rewatch that Legato's eyes are
Tumblr media
a greyish-silver and that surprised me and got me thinking, is Orange trying to give him Psychopomp allusions too? How? *Rolls over again* through Charon? He guide souls deeper into the underworld through the river Styx which could be referenced in how he "guides" lost souls into EOM.
And then hit it me, hehe, he's–, guys, he's the fucking Archangel Michael, chief of the angels and archangels, "stand ready and enter before the glory of the Lord". Meditating the "law of god" and standing at the right hand of the throne of god(right hand man, get it?).
Given permission to bring "righteous judgment" on the souls of the damned and bring those who are "worthy" of god to the gates of heaven.
"Bring them to the afterlife" would make him a Psychopomp as michael does guide souls but if you recall earlier they do not and cannot judge souls in the end so while micheal is theoretically a Psychopomp he does not embody it in its truest form, Micheal's role is a judge, jury and executer.
“The Lord punish you.”
And That’s it, the difference between Wolfwood and Legato's roles as Psychopomps, it is guide vs. judge, which uh, could also tie back to the twins.
(muttering, guide vs. judge, guide vs. judge... *tosses this into the steadily growing pile of "Orange might be foreshadowing a Wolfwood v. Legato fight in the future."*)

Mabon Celebration Ideas!
Tumblr media
As some of you know, this Saturday is Mabon, the celebration of the Autumn Equinox. Some also refer to it as the "Pagan Thanksgiving", as you celebrate the bountiful harvest and are thankful for the earth and its many gifts.
Mabon marks the time of equilibrium, where the days and nights are of equal length. During this time, it is good to set intentions that involve decrease, such as ending unhealthy habits, self-destructive behaviors, or bad relationships.
Decorating for Autumn
This a great time to decorate for the coming autumn and spooky seasons leading up to Samhain! I like to open the windows and then cleanse my space(usually a simmer pot and smoke cleanse) and after, i actually physically clean the house.I then close the windows and stir my simmer pot, while setting new intentions for the household until the spring equinox. I then collect the things I want to decorate with(the usual fall decor; pumpkins, pine cones, leaf garlands, gourds and an autumn wreath on the door) and then decorate to my hearts content!
Release and Move Forward
Another thing I usually spend time on is meditation, centering myself, letting go of past baggage from the year and setting new personal goals and intentions until spring.
Find a nice spot outside, where you feel connected to the world around you. Take a journal with you, and meditate. Write down what you want the next few months to bring into your life. Set those intentions in any way you choose.
Have a nice Hearty Meal
Who doesn't love a good meal with great people? You can make a roast, hold a potluck Mabon dinner ect, I usually host a bonfire night and everyone brings their own dishes to feel the group. During covid, I made a pot roast for my fiance and I! You could also do a picnic!
Fall Activities
Apple Picking, Corn Mazes, going to a Pumpkin Patch, all fall activities that are fun for the whole family, as a cute date, or great solo fun!
Honor Persephone and Demeter
If you are one to honor deities/spirits during the holidays, Persephone and Demeter are two that will definitely fall into Mabon.
According to the myth, Autumn is the time where Persephone must leave her beloved mother and travel to Hades, to fulfill her role as the Queen of the Underworld. Each year she lets go of the concerns of the upper world, and willingly descends to guide the souls of the dead over the threshold of Life and Death.
Creating an altar, and leaving offerings for them in honor of their sacrifice is an amazing way to celebrate.
Other
Other things you can do include cleansing ritual baths, Divination for the new few months, hiking, offerings for the local nature spirits, make a gratitude list for the last few months and thank the earth for her gifts
Mabon Symbols:
Cornucopia (horn of plenty), pinecones, seeds
Colors: Orange, red, yellow, brown, copper, dark yellow, dark green
Foods: Corn, beans, squash, apples, pumpkins, cider, root vegetables, pomegranate, wine
Herbs: Yarrow, rosemary, sage, mugwort, rosehips,
Stones: Amber, citrine, cat’s eye, aventurine, sapphire, jasper
Flowers: Sunflowers, thistle, marigolds
Deities: Mabon, Green Man, Demeter, Persephone, Morgan, Pomona, Inanna
Animals: Owl, stag, blackbird, salmon
I hope this gives you a few ideas! Add your own ideas to this list! These are just the ways I like to celebrate!
