What you didn’t tell me is that you learnt how to do that because your stepfather is an alcoholic. So you learnt to read people and be who they want you to be to protect yourself.” Though I didn’t have an alcoholic father, I have been through a lot in my life that even my closest friends don’t know about. So I learnt to control my worlds and myself in the form of curating what I said and did to fit in to protect myself, as a result, that perpetuated an increasing need for control which became obsessive and destructive.
