Because RG as a pairing exists for the sole benefit of Oscar, Ruby doesn't get anything out of it. That's why everything about the pairing is Oscar-centric. Nothing in the ship is equal. Ruby does all the heavy lifting, and only Oscar benefits. Rg fans operate under the belief that Oscar benefits Ruby just by existing, his presence is a gift. Oscar has a crush, and that means that Ruby should date him, he's earned it.
Just like with Summer or Winter in relation to Hummingbird or Snowbird, the most important aspect of the pairing is how one half of the ship, Qrow, is benefiting or developing. Or rewarding them for good behavior or character development. While the other half is more or less an accessory in service to the focus character. Or a trophy.
This is why Ruby's feelings, or more specifically her lack of romantic feelings or interest is never brought up. Because her feelings in regards to the ship, and her character largely isn't really a factor. She's just there for Oscar to admire, or pine for, or get comforted by. If rg fans actually cared about Ruby's feelings, they wouldn't push it so hard, because Ruby has no romantic interest in Oscar.
But at its core, the ship isn't for Ruby's sake. So of course I would be against it, Ruby is in my top three RWBY characters. While I'm very lukewarm on Oscar as a character. I've long believed that Ruby doesn't need a romance. But if she was to get one, I'd obviously prefer a well-developed pairing between two equals with good rapport & chemistry where both participants mutually benefit. Not rosegarden. Rosegarden is an Oscar ship, not a Ruby ship. That's always been the case.
Man now we know what the Oscar/Ozpin merge was actually based on (Ascension) the fact that Ozpin has been actively fighting the merge for probably the first time in centuries is just so powerful.
The Tree would have never done this to them. The Blacksmith doesn't take the unwilling. They don't even take the memories if the recipient doesn't want her to. This is something forced on both of them and Ozpin is so, so jaded and tired that he's accepted the merge is inevitable even if he doesn't want it. But he and Oscar have been through so much and he's learned to be brave, so he's making the only choice he can make, which is to fight it for as long as possible even if he'll inevitably lose. He's probably tried before, but he's decided to try again, because he owes himself and Oscar that much. Even if he knows from long and painful experience it won't matter in the end.
But this time? This time, those few extra moments that he fought will matter. This time, it won't be in vain.
Jaune: But I'll be alive. And I can remember all the people I’ve lost.
Ozcar: Until you die as a servant of your own guilt. You did the impossible, you escaped the Ever After with Team RWBY. You only came back because Ren and Nora were almost killed by Cinder.
Jaune: …
Ozcar, steps towards Jaune: The real question is, who do you wish to die as? The Rusted Knight? The last thing many men and monster ever see. Or as a man, who loves and is loved by his friends. Who do you wish to die as, Jaune?
Ozcarnations Deamon/His Dark Materials AU, because obviously
It's really good (and has a sequel focusing on Oscar) but I'm a bit disappointed I haven't found any other in-depth explorations of Ozma's reincarnation in the context of people having daemons
Whenever I see someone saying "rosegarden needs to happen," or insisting it's endgame based on zero evidence.
All I can think is, "damn you really wanna ruin Ruby's character that much."
Not only do you want to force Ruby into a shoehorned romantic relationship she's shown zero interest in, but you also want to chose one of the worst options? Damn, bold choice. Ruby's one of my favorite characters in the show, so obviously I don't want any of that to happen.
The residents of the ever after remind me of ozma/Oz's curse
Dose this sound like what oz hose though
⚠️Sorry if it's a bit loud I tried to turn it down if it's too loud for you try turning your speakers down a bit⚠️
I mean this the exact same thing he's doing he dies and comes back but he learns from each experience
and each life he gains something new a new personality a new laws a New Hope and a new resolve to keep him going towards what his original goal was that was set for him
Weiss ever says everything dies at some point and yes his life as who ever he is dose die but they go one and guide the next like minded soul and then they be come one
I think it’s an incredible thing for Oz to do. He always talks about choices. Having the capacity to choose. Something he had long since given up on having himself. Yet Oscar shows him that despite how bleak things seem they can still fight, Oz can still fight. It’s incredibly heartwarming to see how much Oscar impacted Oz and how much Oz cares about him.
A lot of ppl tend to say that Oz is a malicious leech towards Oscar and that Oscar hates Oz but I think they are dead wrong. Ozpin cares and Oscar’s times being tortured by Salem made him realizes just how much he does. Oz didn’t want this, Oscar doesn’t either. Yet they care enough to fight, not each other but for each other.
Exactly. The fact is that Ozpin cannot be blamed for this because he doesn't have a choice in this process, he was made into this thing without his knowledge or consent. He can't unite humanity, he can't defeat Salem, he can't even save the people he unites with because of what he is, and he figured out long ago that it was less painful and heartbreaking to just give in to it. But if Oscar wants to fight this, even though it's so agonizing they wind up curled up on the floor, then they'll fight it together. And maybe, for the first time in a long time, he can admit to himself that he doesn't want this either.
And so the AU crossover officially comes to a close 😌 thank you to everyone who participated!!!! We had so much fun with it!

idea for Oscar's nightmare. As we all know, the inevitable fusion of personalities between him and Oz is a legitimate concern on the part of everyone involved. So why don't we make things even worse and more unsettling by simply wishing our worst fears and future real in our beloved farmer's head?
So imagine the situation, one day, Oscar wakes up in his house, gets dressed and just hangs out with his friends. At some point, he starts to act more and more like Ozpin, and upon realizing this, he is instantly interrupted by a quick mumble of apology, but... Nobody got mad at him. No one thought that his behavior was strange. Like, Oz... Why are you apologizing? You've always acted like this. He looks away in embarrassment, because he himself does not understand what has come over him, maybe ... Is he a little crazy? Or the stress from the last events caught up with him ... And then everything in the dream developed even more strangely. The further the dream went, the more changeable and strange for him his behavior became. Oz wasn't even sure who he was. But everyone around him keeps telling him that it's okay, that he's always been like this. Absolutely everyone in this dream called him Oz. And it felt like the most natural thing in the whole world. His morning is going to be really shitty when he realizes he's dreaming about his inevitable future. And what's worse... He's not sure anymore if he sees much of a difference between Oscar and Oz. He's not even sure what the difference should have been
