I didn't realize that people took the 'Alias started as a JD book' rumor to mean that the events of Alias were meant to happen to her. I guess that's probably where the kind of confusing/conflicting statements from Bendis about Alias never having anything to do with JD, while also admitting it started life out as a JD concept come from. he's trying to clarify that, while he did initially plan to write a JD book and those plans eventually resulted in Alias, by the time he was crafting the actual story of Alias, he had already abandoned using JD in it

Pitch for a MCU miniseries: “A Larger Universe - Tales from Marvel”

Plot Summary:

As a standalone, anthology miniseries, each episode is a different “tale” focused on heroes who haven’t gotten the spotlight in the main MCU. But the REAL reason why this miniseries is being made is to fully integrate the Marvel Television shows into the main MCU canon.

So, under the guise of “highlighting unexplored heroes”, the show is actually completing the merger of the Marvel TV shows that came before Disney Plus/Phase 4.

Hypothetical Episode Line-Up:

1) Quake: Former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent-turned-S.W.O.R.D. agent Daisy Johnson is sent to deal with a rogue cell of Flag Smashers, who are still around despite the loss of their leader (purpose of this episode is to address “Agents of SHIELD”).

2) The Other Carter: In the 1950s, Agents Peggy Carter and Daniel Sousa follow a lead on the assassin responsible for shooting Agent Jack Thompson (resolves the cliffhanger from “Agent Carter”).

3) The Man Who Can’t Speak: In Honolulu, Hawaii, a young couple befriends a mute man (Black Bolt) who claims to have come from the empire of “Attilan” a city located on the Moon. Thinking he’s insane, the couple later learn that the mute man is who he says he is and that he needs their help in finding a way back to his people (this is a soft reboot of the “Inhumans” show).

4) Sister Grimm: While fighting in Xialing’s underground fighting ring, Wong befriends a young witch named Nico Minoru. Seeing her potential as a magic user, Wong offers her a spot in the Sanctum Sanctorum as his mentee/protege (purpose of this episode is to address “Runaways”). 

5) Light & Dark: Damage Control agents Sadie Deever and P. Cleary, coming off their run-in with Kamala Khan, are assigned to a lead on another pair of people with superhuman abilities, later revealed to be Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen (purpose of this episode is to address “Cloak and Dagger”).

6) Adventure into Fear: Wong and his mentee Nico Minoru learn about a supernatural being who has been terrorizing the streets of Los Angeles. The two of them go to investigate and discover that the supernatural being is Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider has been hunting the demon-human hybrid siblings, Daimon and Ana Helstrom (purpose of this episode is to reintroduce Robbie Reyes and to address “Helstrom”).

7) One Bad Night: Jessica Jones and Luke Cage follow a lead on the secret identity of Spider-Man. This turns out to be a mistake when the two of them learn that a crazy murderer is killing anyone who follows the fake lead. But the bad news for the murderer is...Frank Castle decided to follow the lead as well (purpose of this episode is to address “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage”, and “The Punisher”).

8) The Legend of K’un L’un: Shang-Chi returns to Ta Lo in order to bond with his aunt, Ying Nan. While there, he is challenged by an arrogant martial artist known as “The Iron Fist” to a friendly duel to see who is the superior fighter. Depending on Marvel, this could either be Danny or Colleen. (purpose of this episode is to address “Iron Fist”).

Obey Me! Nightbringer Opening Analysis

This is my personal analysis on the opening! (This post is made before the game is released)

I saw this post (p r i m r o s e on Tumblr) and wanted to do my own analysis on certain details. My post has more information on some things then this post and some things have less. While they go through the main details of the opening, I analyze the entire thing. (I dont want to be seen as a copier. I just felt really urged to do one myself after reading that post)

The game is said to be about the past and the celestial war, so I will be talking about spoilers from Lesson 16.

the opening opens up going through a spiral of doors, then shattered glass. Barbatos room is full off doors in a spiral because he has the power to travel through time and merge timelines.

next its all the brothers (besides satan) as angels, then turning into demons. They look at the sky which is red. The top part looks similar to the Masouleum, which I think satan fell there? after the war and the brothers fell from grace. The game is going to be about the celestial realm and the past so this makes sense

The next clip is all of the brothers in a line, being Satan (4) Levi (3) mammon (2) Lucifer (1) being in the center being the only one with his eyes closed, Asmo (5) Beel (6) and Belphie (7). Then all of them go away to Lucifer opening his eyes and the Title showing.

Then, there is a shot of the HOL, with a rain in the background. Rain represents sadness and destitute, growth and rebirth, transformation and unpredictability, and obstacles (5 Spiritual Meanings When It Rains (millersguild.com) ) This lines up with what happened in the war and after. As they are all transformed into demons, with an undetermined future ahead after Lilith's death, causing her rebirth. Lucifer is seen looking outside the window of the dining room with his eyes closed again, and opening them.

The panel then shows the brothers at the dining table not eating and doing random shit, with Lucifer being in the center, but far away and distant from his brothers. This represents how he kept the burden of Liliths death, making an oath to Diavolo and having Lilith reborn as human. He was the one to see his sister die in his arms, and he kept the agreement secret from his brothers, hoping to shield them away. Then Lucifer hand scrunches up at the window.

Next, Rapheal, Simeon, and Luke are seen in a hallway (prob at RAD). Rapheal walks ahead while Simeon looks at the outside rain, similar to Lucifer. Simeon has shown in the mainstory line to have preferred the times before the celestial war and wishes to go back then. (I talked about this more in my ramble post I made before this). He might have guilt/regret over the celestial realm, Rapheal is seen not looking back at them and leaving them behind, making Simeon and Luke more isolated in the hallway at his distance. (Somewhat paralleling Luci, but instead he is at the side instead of the center) Luke is then seen clutching Simeons clothes. Could be to comfort Simeon or could for his own comfort (or both!)

Solomon is then seen standing out in the rain, with his palm out catching raindrops, then looks up away from his palm and smile. In his first UR+ card that was released, he is at a grave, hes sees a white feather and looks up, and smiles. white feathers can be associated with angels and white birds. There is no known information on any past relationships between angels and solomon yet (random but I remember i had it written that solomon had angel blood and that doesnt make sense at all, i dont even know why I wrote it in the first place in my lore notes)

Next there is a shot of the demon castle with barbatos and Diavolo standing right next to each other, looking into the camera confindentaly.

It then pans to a black space with a spotlight on a white bird in a cage flying out. It is most likely a dove. The bird then flys upwards out of the cage. Doves "represent hope, faith, renewed purpose, compassion, purity, and intuitive communication. They may show up when hard times are ending, and a new understanding of one’s self is emerging. The presence of a dove brings energy back into balance, harmony, and invokes an internal sense of peace. " The Spiritual Meaning And Symbolism Of A Dove (crystalclearintuition.com)

They purposely choose a white feathered bird in a cage, and angels have white feathers. This can show how the brothers felt trapped as angels. This could also mean that they were never their true self or were in harmony with their environment.

After we see the bird, it panels to the moon in the devildom. The bird was more free with the moon (devildom) than it was previously (the brothers as angels) Doves represent peace, so they could be more welcomed in the Devildom than they were in the Celestial Realm. Next the moon is zoomed in then turned red.

Okay so this part is pretty interesting. Theres some weird thing that kinda looks like a melted clay DNA project around a plasma orb that has shattered glass looking peices around it. I have no clue onto what importance this has other than it looks cool.

It then zooms into the orb and see lucifer (I thought it was luke at first lol) palms up with a white feather falling into his hands. The scene turns red to lucifer looking very concerened and covering his face in his demon form.

Next is just shots of the brothers as demon with the weird liquid substance in the background again. Their poses are meant to kind of represent their sin and whatever the fuck belphie is doing.

The next clip is them standing in a firey field. There are things burnt in the backgrounds that resemble trees. we zoom into the middle, with the order of the farthest person to the closest person to diavolo being Belphie, Beel, Levi, Asmo, Mammon, Satan, and then Lucifer. Then we see Diavolo posed up head up high and looking somewhat down to them. This scene is probably after the war, explaining the fire. I think the order of the brothers is what they are most interested into hearing what Diavolo will say. Lucifer made an agreement with Diavolo like I said earlier so it makes the most sense for him to be closest to him. Next is Satan, which he now has a physical form into his existence in the worst way possible, so anything he experiences will probably want to learn in detail on what to do. Mammon could be closer wanting to support Luci. Idrk about the other brothers, they never seem to have a close relationship with diavolo (with the exeption of Levi in season 4) At the end we see shots of them in order farthest to closest looking ready to do something.

Next we see broken glass in reverse putting itself back together. We get a repeat of the brothers as angels and the scene turns red to them as demons plus satan and the broken building goes back together.

After that we see Barbatos putting his finger over his mouth. This could be hinting at he knows a lot more than we know he knows.

It ends with the stairs going outwards, compared to into the beginning where it was going inwards to the middle circle. Considering it was the first and last scene, Barbatos could of messed around with the timelines to get the best possible solution, and probably has a bigger relation to Lilith that we thought. (my ramble post with no organization has my theory on it) Because of how much he is seen in the opening, he probably plays a big role in the game.

Watched the new Pinocchio live-action movie

I pirated it of course as any good person would and here are my musings about. Warning: Spoilers ahead for Disney's Pinocchio (2022)

The animation teetered and swayed a lot between "okay" and "what the heck is this" for me. Most of it had to do with the modelling (mainly this for Figaro whenever he appeared close up AND a bit for Honest John and Gideon) and the lighting (on Pinocchio to be specific, particularly towards the end of the film) which led to the "what the heck is this" side.

Pinocchio is still baby though, love him to bits.

The voice for Pinocchio is fine. Nearly exactly how he sounded in the original. Honest John was by far the best. Very energetic and lively and smooth in slimey way- extremely fitting. Jiminy's voice was okay but when he starts screeching it can get very annoying very fast.

Tom Hanks is a good Gepetto. That's it.

Luke Evans threw a lot into his role as the Coachman and I appreciate the flair he added to the character but he didn't give the same fear factor the original Coachman gave me.

Also Pinocchio gets some rightfully earned justice from the Stromboli incident but absolutely none from the whole Pleasure Island deal.

Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy was probably my favourite part of the movie. She absolutely nailed the character in my opinion. Kind, motherly and ethereal. Her grace was utterly captivating to me and she looks absolutely stunning. She also has a really good singing voice. She had me by the throat when I first saw her in the sneak peak pictures and the trailer and I'm so glad she didn't disappoint me in the movie. I've never heard of her before this movie so I didn't quite know what to expect but I will say she captured the aspects of the character very well (and I'm totally not simping for her Blue Fairy what are you talking about-). Quite sad she didn't get that much screen time though.

Fabiana (new character) is certainly an intriguing character at the start. I liked her warm friendliness towards Pinocchio whose currently in the cold care of Stromboli and was interested to learn the story surrounding her leg or even more about how she ended up getting involved with Stromboli. But unfortunately we didn't get it. Instead we got the lesser interesting part about her: which is the little marionette she's puppeteering- Sabina. I dislike Sabina. I do like how Fabiana uses Sabina to entertain, help and comfort Pinocchio, its an adorable touch, but I dislike the romantic implication between Sabina and Pinocchio. Pinocchio didn't need a love interest, Disney.

Talking again still about Fabiana. She is a character that really could've made for a interesting movie that wasn't about Pinocchio. I like her and her story (whatever it may be) could've been an awesome standalone film that exists outside of Pinocchio. Her character unfortunately, much like Blue Fairy, suffered from lack of screen time and a simple "no need" for her and any attempts to give her a more involved role has been nerfed and badly handled (like the scene where Pinocchio is locked in the cage and it seems like she'll rescue him but doesn't and we just get Jiminy rescuing him like in the original. That fucking pissed me off- like what was the point???)

The chase scene with Monstro was very disappointing and extremely lackluster. The original had everything going for it: Music, atmosphere, animation! That 1940s chase scene with Monstro had me by the edge of my seat. The new one though.... I feel like they could've been a little more creative with the camera angles (not just for this scene but for the whole movie). It reminded me too much of that one scene in The Meg where Jason Statham was getting chased by the shark after it sensed him getting pulled back to towards the boat and Jason has to swim back towards the speeding boat while the giant megaladon is chasing after him(actually now that that I think about it, it looks exactly the same), but just with less epic and unmemorable music. (Also Pinocchio turns into Dash Parr from the Incredibles during that segment of the movie. Kak funny, made me and my pa chuckle at the ridiculousness of it)

Now for the ending. God, the ENDING! Ambiguous/Unstraightforward as fuck. Jiminy implies that Pinocchio stays a puppet in the narration BUT THE SCENE SHOWS PINOCCHIO LOSING HIS PUPPET KNEE JOINTS MEANING THAT HE WAS BECOMING A REAL BOY. Its very "blink and you'll miss it" and if you're not paying attention to Pinocchio during that whole scene, you'll definitely miss it (like my sister did). So if people complain about him not "becoming a real boy" Disney can just point to that scene and say "See! He is becoming a real boy. Just like in the original so you can just shut up now and go back to snorting your pixie dust". FUCK YOU DISNEY, THAT'S SUCH A FUCKING COPOUT! PICK AN ENDING AND STICK WITH IT! Y'ALL BETTER NOT BE PULLING THIS SAME KAK WITH PETER PAN AND WENDY NEXT YEAR!

Overall, really meh movie with an infuriating ending. Pinocchio and the Blue Fairy deserve better.

Okay, okay, I see that he is endearing all these characters to me as a unit. He’s having them bond, because they’re on a roadtrip/camping trip and they’re collecting unique experiences together. And that’s super cute and I love it, but it means SOMETHING BAD IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.

okay so in ghe first game where she is she is introduced to us as a character. we see she is smart and clever and honestly kind of funny when she wants to be , but shes also. like. kidnapped ??? the whole plot kind of revolves around saving her from this tower or whatever. the WEIRD THING is NOT the damsel in distress trope (which yes while is a reflection of misogyny , it is also just kind of an overused stereotype at this point) but is INSTEAD the REASON she was locked up. “oh petey why was she locked up then please do tell us” HER FATHER WANTED HER TO FIND A SUITABLE SUITOR ? ( or alternatively a suitable guardian, depending on whether you subscribe to the eu/na localisations or the jp original). his choice of suitor was, of course, a grown widowed man that is AT LEAST twice her age????? (alternatively, if you agree with the eu/na localizations… wr father decided that flora — who is anywhere from ~13 to like 25 — needed a guardian to continue, and she COULDNT manage on her own in a town surrounded by ROBOTS WHOSE ONLY JOB WAS TO LOOK AFTER HER!!!)

SECOND GAME TIME. the suitable “suitor” (on whom its only implied she has like a tiny crush on, she and layton never actually get together thank fuck for that) and / or her suitable “guardian” (layton again) ABANDON HER. like, AT HER HOME. BECAUSE SHES TOO LADYLIKE AND DAINTY TO ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING, APPARENTLY?? flora is MISSING for like. HALF THE DAMN GAME. mystery solving is too much for her to handle apparently (even though she coped with both her mother AND her fathers death in like three days flat???) she sneaks after them but is then KIDNAPPED by the villain of the first game and has her identity stolen and NO ONE PICKS UP ON IT.?? NOT EVEN LAYTON WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE LOOKING AFTER HER??? BECAUSE OF LEVEL FIVES SHITTY 2D PERSONALITY DESIGN. the worst part is WHEN THEY FIGURE OUT THEY DONT GIVE A TOSS??? SHES ABANDONED IN A DAMN BAN AND THEY DONT CARE. BECAUSE SHES A LADY. ARHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGHH

THE THIRD GAME. CHRIST . in the third game shes not even MENTIONED in the first half as if the writers COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT HER!! eventually layton and luke (who btw has been allowed on all these frivolous adventures since he was ten. flora is AT LEAST fourteen at the time of this game) go bck 2 london for a while and shes like “omg i was so worried! let me make u guys some sandwiches” and they FUCKING LEAVE HER AGAIN.??? surprise surprise OBVIOUSLY she goes looking for them and she ends up being put in the same cage as her KIDNAPPER. FROM THE PREVIOUS GAME.? THE GUY WHO STOLE HER DAMN IDENTITY?? layton didnt even bother to TRY and warn her much less did he consider her discomfort, DESPITE THE FACT HE!S SUPPOSEDLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HER ? AND THEN. AND THEN SHES FUCKING KIDNAPPED. *AGAIN*. AND NOBODY DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT. **AGAIN**. JESUS CHRIST THESE PEOPLE ARE HORRIBLE

AND FINALLY. TO FINISH MY RANT. NOT ONCE IN THE LAST TWO GAMES DO THEY BOTHER INFORMING US ANYMORE OF HER PERSONALITY OTHER THAN ‘IS BAD AT COOKING’ AND ‘IS LADYLIKE’. SHES EALLY SMART AND COMPLEC AS A CHARACTER BUT GETS REDUCED TO ‘GIRL WHO LOVES TO WHINE ALL THE TIME’. level 5 is my number one enemy

Sokovia and Spiders Chapter 4

The first rays of sunlight reach the city, turning the sky a kaleidoscope of colours, a soft pink that merges into a warm orange, pushing away the deep blue that the night brought. Overhead pigeons are beginning to emerge, screeching black specks in the blue sky. From their vantage point, the city is a labyrinth beneath them, a wild urban maze of brick apartments, shiny skyscrapers, and shops. Streets and alleyways separate them.

Amongst it, there’s a small alley, a rusting fire escape nailed to one wall, and a stark bloody handprint stamped across the highest window, crimson contrasting against white. Peter had crawled through the window in the earliest hours of the morning, face wet from pained tears. Wincing as he crumples onto the wooden floorboards, half expecting the familiar sound of May racing to his door. Two months ago, she’d discovered his suit hanging in the wardrobe. After three years you would think I’d have found a better spot to hide it. Both of them were yet to settle into a life where his secret was out.

Lead legs manage to get him across his room, to where a red box pokes out from under his bed. His fingers tremble when he grips the handle, yanking it out into the open and ripping its lid off in a swift movement. There’s a couple of greying bandages, his old glasses, one lens chipped, and little packets of various tablets. The content of the box was more for bruises and scrapes than serious injuries but it would have to do. At least he’s never had to dig out a bullet. Knock on wood.

His medical knowledge was at best limited, which wasn’t ideal for a vigilante like him. Most of the things he’s picked up came from car crash shows involving road accidents and ten-minute YouTube clips. Fortunately, he was blessed with a sped-up healing factor. It’s not as effective as impenetrable skin, cough cough Luke Cage, but he makes it work. Digging through the supplies he finds a couple of scrap pieces of paper buried beneath, smudged sketches of suit ideas. For a while he had been debating adding extra robotic legs to the suit, even got to designing the schematics before he remembered he was a broke high school student.

Eventually, he finds some burn cream, the off the shelf type from the local shop but anything was better than nothing. As he found it the smell of burnt latex had begun to clog his synesis, the stench made worse with his heightened senses. Clearly, some of the suit had begun to melt away during the conflict, leaving his skin visible and vulnerable. Salt pricks at his eyes once more as he wriggles out of what remains of it cursing his idea to make it from skin-tight latex. When his hand brushes against the burn he can’t hold back the pained cry that echoes around his room. Aunt May can’t be heard so it was safe to assume she’d picked up some more late shifts. Just as well as the situation was bound to get worse before it could get better.

Finally, with the suit peeled off laying in a blue and red heap on the floor he can assess his injuries. Spinning around quickly, he tries to look over his appearance in one go, like how a band aide is ripped off. Instead, he reels back at his reflection. Whilst his chest is a mirage of purples and his left cheek prods out of his face, smushing his left eye in the process, it’s the burns that turn his stomach. Blisters already formed at the sharp edge of his collar, red and angry. They’re painful to see, agonizing to touch.

Stumbling over to the bathroom he manages to shuffle out of the rest of his clothes without incident. Dizziness grips him for a moment as he steps into the bathtub, one outstretched hand fumbling for the tap. He stumbles backwards when the first blast hits it, scorching his white skin a light pink and sending dark spots across his vision as it grazes his burns. He scrambles to twist the tap the other way, sighing when the waves of pain turn to relief.

He doesn’t bother with soap or shampoo, simply allowing plain water to strip away the filth and pain. Both arms braced against chipped tiling, his knuckles turn white as his hands form tight fists. Casting his eyes down, the water disappearing down the drain is tinged brown. His muscles begin to tremble under the frigid water but he stays until his burnt skin turns numb. Only then does he stumble out, feet skating across the wet flooring, droplets cascading down his back, leaving goosebumps in their wake.

Having wrapped a towel around his waist, he squeezes a dollop of burn cream on his finger, massaging it into his reddened skin before he can hesitate, hissing as it makes contact. Leaving his phone perched on the sink he limps back into his room, bandages tucked under one arm. Still damp he collapses on his bed, wincing as something sharp prods his bruised ribs. Digging under the cover he yanks out the remote, clicking the on button in the process. Shielding his eyes from the onslaught of light, he spares a fleeting glance at the TV.

Blips of movement and dashes of colour flash across the small screen, vivid through the dust. As the imagery comes together Peter’s brain sluggishly catches up. There’s a man on the screen, his vast form squeezed behind a small desk. Rounded glasses perching halfway down a pig-like nose, they bounce up and down as each spittle-saturated word fires out of his mouth. Opposite him sits another man, goatee and hair cleanly cut, he’s grinning but in a way that says he’s uncomfortable with the company and trying to hide it. The other man is Tony Stark, decked out in a charcoal suit and tie rather than in red and gold.

Comparing the polished version against the ragged man he’d seen a few hours earlier, Peter misses the words they’re saying. Fortunately, there’s a banner below them, the words written boldly.
