summary: you and chris came from two different sides of the spectrum when it came to the social scale. You had the perfect life, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect parents, but when you start to peal back that layers things got messy. Your life was set and stone, your future was set and stone. That was until he comes and changes everything.

I pushed his hair out of his face as he looked down at me with a lop sided smile. "Boyfriend" I mumbled before smiling and closing my eyes shaking my head, feeling my chest light up just from the words.

Chris chuckled and hung his head against me, before running his hands down my sides and wrapping them behind my back.

After we came back inside, I explained everything to him. The break up with Max, how that went. The whole thing with Sydney. Everything i've been thinking and feeling. He told me about Nate, why he acted the way he did, his grandpa finding the letter, everything.

Every word was said, everything was explained and now we just got to be together. As complicated as we were. We were each other's. We belonged to each other. That was the most powerful feeling in the world. Nothing else mattered.

My parents, Nate, we didn't care because we would figure that out together. Chris pressed his lips against my collar bone softly. "I love you" He mumbled against my skin. I smiled brightly. "I love you" I whispered back as his head fell against mine.

I just looked down at him as his eyes blinked closed. He's so pretty. He's so perfect. He's mine. I wrapped my arms around his back as he laid against me.

"There's something I never told you" He mumbled against me. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked down at him. "What?" I whispered. He smiled as his eyes stayed closed. I smiled and pushed him slightly. "What?" I chuckled.

"I can drive stick shift" He mumbled before blinking his eyes open. My mouth dropped as I scoffed. He chuckled. I rolled my eyes. "Prick" I chuckled. He lifted his head and shook his head.

"Hey" He whined looking down at me. I smiled up at him as he peered down at me. We just looked at each other before he dipped his head down and pressed his lips softly to mine.

"Wanna go for a drive?" He mumbled against my lips. I smiled and nodded as he pushed off of me.

I sighed as I pushed my hands above my head and leaned back against the seat smiling. I blinked my eyes over at Chris who was just watching me. "Eyes on the road" I smiled dropping my arms smile.

He smiled and shook his head as he looked back towards the road. I leaned over the console and leaned my head against his shoulder as we drove through the empty streets, soft music playing through the stereo.

"This car is insane" He mumbled running his hand over the wheel. I smiled and pressed my face against him. He smiled before running his hand over my leg, one hand on the wheel.

"Yeah, I'd love to drive it" I said shaking my head. He looked over at me, sadness crossing his face. "But I like watching you drive it more" I smiled leaning my head back against him. He smiled and leaned his head against mine.

"I wanna show you something, can you pull into that parking lot?" I asked looking up at him. He nodded as he hand shifted on the wheel and he turned it into the parking lot.

I smiled as he placed the car in park and looked over at me. I crawled over him. "Hey, are you making moves on me?" He gasped smiling. I laughed as I pressed the button next to his seat before lowering it back. He just stared up at me, until he was fully flat.

I leaned back doing the same to my chair, before pressing a button on the roof that brought the roof of the car back, revealing the night sky to us. His eyes looked up from the movement of the ceiling as it retorted back into a convertable.

"Holy shit" He chuckled once the top of the car was completely out of view. I sighed as I laid back against my chair and looked up at the stars placed in the night sky.

Silence filled the space between us, just the noises of distance cars. I just looked across the night sky, the calm night sky, feeling peace wash over me.

"They used to park the car in the driveway, and I would go out there and listen to music and just lay against the seats and watch the stars" I whispered. Chris's head turned to look at me as I spoke.

"Until my mom figured out and started parking it in the garage" I mumbled as I stared at the sky. Chris just looked at me. He reached over grabbing my hand, interlocking our fingers making me look over at him.

He brought our hands to his face and kissed the back of my hand. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me" He whispered against the back of my hand. I blushed and turned my head back to the sky, letting out a small laugh.

I felt him pull my hand. I looked over at him. "Come over here" He whispered. I smiled before climbing over the consul. He raised his arms as I climbed over him and laid my back against his chest.

His arms came around me holding me in place as I laid against him, both of us looking towards the stars. He pushed some hair out of my face as I leaned my face against his.

His fingers traced my arms as we just laid there in silence as we looked towards the stars.

"Chris I don't think I've ever experienced happiness like this before" I whispered as my eyes scanned the constellations. He smiled beneath me and kissed the side of my face.

My face quivered.

"Why am I afraid it will go away?" I whispered. He let out a breath. "Y/n, don't say things like that" He breathed tightening his grip on me. I let out a breath and he pulled my shoulder making me look over at him.

"Hey, I'm not leaving for a long time" He whispered looking at me. I just looked at him as he spoke. "Not unless you wake up and decide you hate me" His lips curved into a smile. I smiled and shook my head.

He pressed his nose against mine before pressing his lips against mine. I kissed him slowly. He pushed against my face. I turned around so I was straddling him and not laying against his back, but my knee hit him.

"Jesus" he broke the kiss leaning forward. I leaned back lifted my knee. "I'm sorry--i'm sorry" I said quickly pressing my hands against his face. He smiled and shook his head. "You're okay" He chucked placing his hands on my hips as he guided me back onto his lap.

I smiled as I leaned down pressing my lips to his again. We both smiled through the kiss. He broke apart before pressing his nose against mine. "I love you" He whispered. I smiled, my eyes not even opening. "I love you" I whispered pressing my lips against his.

I shifted against him, trying to sit comfortable on top of him. He gripped my waist. "Y/n" He chuckled, his eyes closed. My eyes went wide. "Shit sorry" I whispered. He shook his head, pulling my face back to his. I shifted again.

He pulled away, blinking his eyes open. "You're gonna kill me" He laughed. I smiled and leaned my head against his shoulder. "Sorry this is kinda of an awkward to be making out in" I said softly. He sighed as his arms came around my back, pulling me against him.

I sighed into his neck.

"Would it be super weird if I said I wanted to you fuck me in the car that my parents used to tourture me with?" I mumbled. He chuckled against me, making me smile. He sighed as his hands came over my sides.

"Oh, princess" He whispered, making me blush and bury my face against his shoulder. He let out a breath. "I don't wanna rush you, you broke up with him yesterday" Chris breathed against me. I pressed my chin against his shoulder.

"I know" I whispered. He leaned down making me look at him. "I haven't had sex in almost four months" I whispered. He smiled and shook his head. "Try almost three years, love" He smiled. I pursed my lips and laid my head against him.

"We don't have to if you're not ready Chris, I know it's...different for you" I whispered. He sighed. "It's not about her, y/n. I don't want you to think i'm going to compare you to her every time we progress in our relationship" He whispered. I didn't say anything as I laid against him. I swallowed.

"I love you for you y/n, please don't make this about her" He whispered. "I didn't mean to I just---wanted you to know that I completely respect your relationship with her and if it means we handle ours different--" I said shaking my head leaning up, peering down at him.

He just smiled up at me as he ran his hands up my legs. I smiled down at him. "What?" I whispered. He shook his head smiling. "Nothing" He shook his head.

"You're just..." He whispered staring at me. I smiled and shook my head. "Perfect, that's all" He smiled. I shook my head looking off. "Hey" He whispered, grabbing my chin making me look back down at him.

I pursed my lips and looked at him. "Your face gonna turn red everytime I complement you?" He chuckled. I hung my head chuckling. He sighed leaning up pressing his lips to my cheek.

"I love you, i'm not fucking you in a car. You deserve better than that" He mumbled against my skin. I let out a breath as he leaned back. "and why's that?" I asked smiling. He shook his head and shrugged.

"It's cramped, and you're not topping" He chuckled making me laugh. I pursed my lips. "You know there's a backseat right?" I smiled leaning down and pressed my nose to his. He rolled his eyes.

"You're so stubborn"

"You love me"

"I do"

He pressed his lips to mine for a brief second before pulling back. "Tomorrow" He whispered looking at me. "At school" He whispered looking down. "Are you going to act like we're together?" He asked softly. I blinked at him. I hadn't really thought about it.

I opened my mouth and closed it.

"I get it if it's too soon and Max and everything--the rumors would--" He said shaking his head. I grabbed his face making him look at me. "if you think I care about what people will say when they see me with you, then you must think I did all of this for nothing" I smiled looking down at him.

He smiled.

"I don't think that, I just--I don't wanna see you get hurt for the sake of being with me" He whispered. I shook my head. "Being with you is the only thing that's keeping me safe" I whispered leaning down and pressing my lips against him breifily.

I sighed leaning back against the steering wheel. "If i'm being honest I'm more worried about Nate's reaction" I mumbled. Chris sighed and turned to the side. "Yeah" He mumbled. I pursed my lips and looked at him.

"I don't know why he hates you so much" Chris shook his head looking at me. I shrugged and looked down. "Guess i'll just have to win him over" I smiled grabbing his hand and pulling him up to me. He smiled wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me against him.

"Yeah, you're pretty good at that" He smiled. "Am I?" I smiled looking at him. He nodded pressing his lips to mine.

"Are you ready?" Chris pulled my hand. I blinked up at him. If I was being honest, I was shitting bricks. "Yeah" I forced a smile. He sighed walking closer to me. "We don't have to do this today" He whispered down at me.

I glanced over at the people passing up in the parking lot. "N-No I want to" I breathed looking back at him. He raised his eyebrows and looked down at me. I smiled and let out a breath.

"Y/n" He tilted his head. I dropped his hand running my hands through my hair. "It's not what you think, It's not the people I don't care---It's--" I swallowed as I turned my head as I saw a black BMW turn into the parking lot.

My eyes dropped to my toes. Chris turned and looked to where I glanced, then sighed looking back at me. My eyes were trained on the ground.

"I'll do whatever you want me to" Chris said holding his hands up. I swallowed looking up at him. "Y/n, it's been like 48 hours since the breakup, I know you're scared of him. I can promise that I can protect you, but if i'm not compromising your abiltity to get through the day without a panic attack for you to prove a point to me" He smiled down at me.

I smile and shook my head as I looked at the ground.

"I know you love me, It's not going to hurt my feelings if you don't hold my hand. I'll live" He chuckled. I swallowed. "No, I wanna do this. I do--" I shook my head. He chuckled, leaning down and pressing his lips to my ear.

"I love you, I'll see you after school" He whispered before kissing the side of my face and turning. I froze as he started to walk away. "Wait" I ran up to him. He paused turning to look at me.

"You know that formal is this weekend" I peered up at him. He smiled and looked down. "Yes" He nodded. I smiled pushing some hair behind my ear. "I'm thinking we skip it? Me and you do something?" I said softly. He smiled down at me and nodded.

"Yeah of course" He said. I was smiling so hard, my cheeks hurt. "Cool" I breathed. He chuckled. "Isn't your name in the ballot? Don't you have to go?" He asked raising his eyebrows. I pursed my lips.

"I don't care about that stupid crown" I smiled. He smiled. "We'll do something then" He nodded. I fought the urge to jump for joy. I know, he's my boyfriend, but I still felt tingles in my skin when I knew we were going to hangout.

"Cool" I nodded.

"Cool" He chuckled shaking his head before turning and walking into the building. I just smiled as I watched him walk into the building before the door closed behind him.

He's mine.

I could feel my heart beat against my chest. I was happy, this felt surreal. Then, I felt the hair on my back of my neck stand when I heard his voice.

"Y/n"

I froze in place. I looked to the side, people walking into the school. Witnesses. There are people around. I turned on my feet meeting the eyes of my now ex-boyfriend.

"Okay, what's going on? Why haven't you called me back?" Max's voice blared at me as he approached me. I swallowed feeling fear run through my veins, as I held my arms. Chris. Where's Chris?

"I-I don't wanna talk to you Max" I mumbled looking at him. He rolled his eyes. "I don't care, Y/n. This is fucking stupid" He said glaring at me. I just looked at him. I wanted to run. Push off my feet and sprint in the other direction as fast as I could.

"I'm your fucking boyfriend and you can't even return my calls?" He snapped. I looked up at him. "Ex-Boyfriend. Max we broke up" I corrected him. He rolled his eyes.

"Y/n come on, it was a fight. We fought--that's it. We're not over-over" He said shaking his head. I just blinked at him, he can't be fucking serious.

"Oh my god, you're crazy" I whispered looking at him. He clenched his jaw, stepping towards me, making me back up. He sighed placing his hand against his face. "Jesus, Y/n" He sighed.

"Get away from me" I whispered as I glanced to the people walking by. He looked up at me. "You're starting to piss me off" He mumbled. "Max, did you miss the part where I told you "I'm breaking up with you?" or did that just fly over your fucking ego?" I snapped quickly. His face hardened.

"We're not over until I tell you were over" He said through gritted teeth. I let out unsteady breaths as I looked at him. "That's not how it works" I shook my head.

"Do your parents know this? Do they know you broke up with me? Did they even give you permission?" He asked shaking his head. I blinked at him. "Per---Permission?" I asked blinking at him. He nodded.

"I don't need daddy's permission to break up with a guy who fucking roofies me" I yelled. He looked at the people beside us, once they caught Max's gaze they walked faster. "Now you've actually lost it" He said shaking his head.

"I told you that wasn't me, I don't know how that got in your drink" He shrugged.

I shook my head and stepped back, he grabbed my arm.

"We're not over"

"We're over" I stated ripping my arm back.

"You still have to go to formal, my mom's expecting you to" He stated looking down at me. I shook my head. "I don't give a fuck Max, If i need to go up to your mother and tell her, her son likes to drug and choke the shit out of girls, I'm sure she'll understand my withdrawl" I glared at him. He clenched his jaw.

I turned and walked into the school

I pushed the door open and stepped onto the ice. Nate's eyes snapped over to mine as I skated towards him. He sighed and lowered his stick.

"Leave" Nate said shaking his head as he lifted his stick to hit some pucks into the net. I just stood next to him.

"Nate" I stated as turned from me focusing his attention back on the puck in front of him. "Nate, come on" I said attempting to catch his attention. He continued to ignore me. I grabbed his shoulder and he turned glaring at me.

"What?" He snapped. I blinked down at him. "Talk to me, you've been ignoring me all fucking day" I glared at me. He shook his head and looked off the the side. I stared down at him.

"You weren't at your house when I came to pick you up" I shook my head, hitting my stick against the ice. He looked down. "Why are you acting like this?" I whispered down at him. He let out a hard breath.

"Look, I came all the way here--for you. I'll play a few rounds, that's what you wanted right?" I pleaded with him. He let out a breath. "It's not about hockey Chris" He clenched his jaw.

"I just don't--" He snapped and closed his eyes. "I don't want you to be with her, anyone but her" Nate said looking up at me. I stared down at him trying to read his mind. My mouth parted and shook my head.

"Why?" I asked softly. He licked his lips. "I just don't okay?" He said looking up at me and then back at the puck, lining up his stick. I shook my head. "Nate, we're together" I said. His face altered as he looked back at me.

"She's my girlfriend" I whispered. He closed his eyes and sighed. "Do you....do you have feeling for her or-" I shook my head as I breathed heavily from the coldness of the ice surrounding me. He rolled his eyes. "God, Chris. No, fucking----gross" He shook his head. I held up my stick.

"Then what is it?" I asked glaring down at him. He licked his lips and looked at me, biting his lip. "What?" I shook my head. He shook his head.

"Nate, you're basically my fucking brother. She's my girlfriend. I need you to support this, I can't lose you like this. I need you to respect my decision and trust that I've got this" I said pleading with him.

He pursed his lips and looked at me, but I could see it in him. I could see behind his eyes that he was hiding something.

Let's take a moment to remember my imperfect, but ever useful portable XP powerhouse, the Toshiba Satellite P25-S507. Probably my favorite laptop of all time. It's old, but hardly vintage yet. I was given one as a hand-me-down after it grenaded its own RAM a year after it was purchased.

I used it as my music jukebox, played a ton of Command & Conquer games on it, did my high school and college school work, talked with my friends on AIM, Skype Teamspeak and IRC, edited videos, programmed on it, did image editing in photoshop.

Pentium 4 @ 2.8GHz, 512MB DDR SRAM stock (mine was upgraded to 1GB and later 2GB), ~60GB hard drive, 17" WXGA TFT LCD, Windows XP (Home, but we upgraded it to Pro), ethernet jack AND wifi, DVD burner, SD card slot, all coming in at just shy of 10lbs of computer.

I either had it sitting on my desk next to my desktop computer (P4 or Phenom II x4), or used it sitting on my bed with a wooden board under it to give it sufficient ventilation so it wouldn't overheat or burn my legs. I disassembled that laptop several times over its lifetime, and replaced:

keyboards twice

the screen once (for the backlight)

4 hard drives

RAM once to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB

sound card subsystem once

battery twice

DVD drive once

Eventually after it destroyed TWO IDE SSDs (yes, those are a thing you can buy) after a shorter than normal lifespan, I realized it was a losing battle and gave up the fight. I realized that it no longer served as a laptop, it couldn't keep pace with newer versions of Skype (before Discord was a thing), and sure as hell wasn't going to run Discord. It got slower and slower at running simple websites like my email, or youtube -- things that it used to handle just fine.

The form factor was limiting, and it was outmatched for the times, so I finally gave up and decided to retire it in favor of building a dedicated power-house XP desktop to do the jobs that it excelled at.

I bought a spare for parts to supplement it, so maybe one day I'll install a fresh hard drive (either spinning rust, or an IDE to m.2 adapter), and bring it back to a working state.

my biggest problem with Ed Sheeran (and really the whole p25 music thing) is it's so transparently inauthenticly a marketing thing. Ed's incredibly overplayed and I would do well to never hear him again but like if GameFreak for some reason absolutely fucking loved him I'd be like. yeah alright, cool enough. still muting it, but it's there due to passion and I respect that.

no, it's incredibly transparently a marketing thing. and to what end? how many ed sheeran fans are going to purchase a Switch and a copy of ScarVio, that weren't already going to do so? how many kids who were Not gamers became pokemon fans because Post Malone covered Hootie and the Blowfish? is this an untapped market they needed so badly?

For the other side, I have planned to use bean bags to promote comfort, which adds to placemaking. Kmart sells beanbags for $30 each which I may need around 100 of them as well. Although this may be an exaggeration, some can always be refunded or given away due to this being a idea to promote communities and the people. Dream central will use a high quality cinema screen from eBay ($150), which is inflatable as seen in the reference as well as a high end projector to guarantee quality ($2299). Adding to this, there will also be some high end speakers for both sides for the cinema speakers being used to play the voices or songs played in the cinema while the other set or speakers will be used for the other side to play calm and relaxing music for the atmosphere ($3000 a set). Sun shades will also be implied and according to catch, a small 6x8 costs around $150. If we were to have 100x100m, this would equal around $2000 for this.

From BRM to Supermarine Spitfire: celebrate British legends at Classic Nostalgia

- New P15 V16 will lead tribute to BRM’s 1962 F1 World Championship - Owen family set to showcase a collection of more than 20 historic BRMs - Special guests include BRM aces Richard Attwood, Howden Ganley and Mike Wilds - Flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on Saturday and Sunday - Legendary ERA R4D will return to Shelsley Walsh - Plus live music, family entertainment, C&SC concours and more!

With less than 3 weeks to go until this year’s Classic Nostalgia weekend, organisers have announced more details of what is sure to be an unforgettable weekend at Shelsley Walsh.

The flagship event returns to the famous Worcestershire hill climb on 16-17 July, and will feature a major celebration of BRM’s victory in the 1962 Formula 1 World Championship. Secured by Graham Hill’s win in the season-ending South African Grand Prix, it was the first time that a British driver had won the Championship in an all-British car, and no fewer than 20 BRMs and BRM-engined cars will be at Shelsley Walsh in order to mark the historic occasion. Eight of those will take part in parades up the hill, led by the first of the continuation P15s. The sound of its 1.5-litre V16 engine reverberating around the Teme Valley is sure to be a highlight. Also confirmed for Classic Nostalgia are the National Motor Museum’s original P15 V16 Mark I, plus the ground-breaking Rover-BRM gas-turbine car that competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1963 and 1965. They will be joined by an ex-Graham Hill P48 that enjoyed considerable success at Shelsley Walsh in the hands of six-times British Hillclimb Champion Tony Marsh. On 27 August 1961, Marsh drove this very car – chassis number 48/4 – to a new hill record of 34.41 seconds. There will also be an example of BRM’s final front-engined Grand Prix car – the handsome P25 – plus a Cooper-BRM Formula 2 car and the Willment-BRM sports-racer. One of the extremely rare BRM-tuned Lotus Elan road cars – brainchild of Formula One ace Mike Spence – will be at Classic Nostalgia too, as will a Hillman Avenger BRM rally car and the monstrous P154 which raced in the Can-Am series by Mexican ace Pedro Rodriguez. Special guests will include members of the Owen family, which backed BRM via the industrial might of Rubery Owen, plus former drivers Howden Ganley, Richard Attwood and Mike Wilds. Team members Dick Salmon – who worked with the likes of Juan Manuel Fangio, Mike Hawthorn and Graham Hill during his long BRM career – John Sismey and Ben Casey will also be at Shelsley Walsh. Celebrating BRM A blue plaque will be unveiled on Sunday 17 July to honour BRM’s historic success, and will be a permanent feature directly beneath a similar plaque celebrating the achievements of Raymond Mays. Having founded ERA during the 1930s, patriotic racer Mays went on to establish BRM following World War Two – and the most famous of his ERAs will be returning to its spiritual home. R4D has a special place in the affections of enthusiasts, and in Shelsley history. It was effectively a works development car and was built in 1935 as R4B, before being upgraded to a C-type specification a year later. It finally became R4D when a lighter chassis was introduced for 1938. Mays extensively campaigned R4D either side of the war, and it set Best Time of the Day at Shelsley 16 times between 1935 and 1956. It will return for Classic Nostalgia with Ben Fidler behind the wheel. Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast Everyone’s attention will turn to the skies above Shelsley Walsh as the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight stages an evocative flypast on both days of the Classic Nostalgia weekend. On Saturday, its fabulous Avro Lancaster will be rumbling overhead and treating visitors to the unmistakeable noise of its four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, and it will be followed on Sunday by the iconic Supermarine Spitfire. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight has as its motto ‘Lest We Forget’, and its mission is not only to commemorate those who have fallen in service of their country, but also to inspire and educate future generations Great cars, famous names Back at ground level, Ian Barkaway will take to Shelsley Walsh aboard the Metro 6R4 that was driven by the late, great Colin McRae on the 2006 Donegal International Rally. Barkaway will be giving competition prize winners a blast up the hill in the V6-engined pocket-rocket – raffle tickets cost just £2 each and are available to purchase from the Midlands Air Ambulance stand. The raffle will be drawn each day at 3pm, and all proceeds will be donated to the Midlands Air Ambulance. Gregor Marshall – son of tin-top legend Gerry – will be taking part in a special parade featuring several notable cars from his father’s long career. Gregor will take to the hill in the Austin Cooper S that won its class in the 1965 Snetterton 500km, alongside a Group 1 Vauxhall Magnum and the fearsome Magnum Super Saloon known as the John Pope Special, which is fitted with a twin-turbocharged Aston Martin V8 engine! Ralli22 will be returning to Shelsley Walsh with a selection of Group A, Group B and WRC machinery, while triple Motoring News, BTRDA and Welsh Championship-winning rally driver Mick Briant will be reunited with his 1969 Ford Escort Twin Cam. The all-new Ecurie Ecosse LM-C will make its Classic Nostalgia debut, where chassis number EE001 can be seen in action for the first time with Mike Wilds behind the wheel. Visitors will also be able to see two cars owned by record-breaking legend Donald Campbell – his 1958 Jaguar XK 150 and a 1934 Derby Bentley – and the prototype Surtees TS15 Formula 2 car will be driven by Ian Skinner, who was a mechanic for John Surtees for more than 35 years. Stephen Hepworth will demonstrate the four-wheel-drive Hepworth FF, more than half a century after his father David became the first driver to break the 30-second barrier at Shelsley Walsh, and an ex-Elio de Angelis 1979 Shadow DN9B Formula 1 car will also be tackling the 1000-yard hill. Classic & Sports Car Concours d’Elegance On Sunday, the popular Classic & Sports Car Concours d’Elegance will return to Classic Nostalgia. It is open to all cars built before 1985, and the judging will be headed up by motoring journalist and regular Shelsley Walsh competitor Simon Taylor. He will be joined by John Mayhead, classic car valuations expert from event partner Hagerty, plus Alastair Clements, editor of Classic & Sports Car magazine. Entries are welcome from any concours-worthy car, with priority given to those with significant provenance and rarity. There will be four classes to be judged: Pre-World War Two, 1949-1959, 1960-1985 Saloons, and 1960-1985 Sports/GT, plus a Spirit of the Day award for an entry that may not be in top concours condition but is outstanding in its own special way. First, second and third in each class will get to parade up the hill. The overall winner receives a silver salver on the start line, a Classic & Sports Car magazine subscription, and is invited to display their car on the Midland Automobile Club’s stand at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, NEC Birmingham in November. Several will be commemorating significant anniversaries within their display areas, including Club Alpine Renault, which will be marking the centenary of Alpine founder Jean Rédélé. The MGB Register, meanwhile, will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the MGB. All registered clubs get to have their own designated display area in the heart of the event, and trophies are awarded for Best Car Club Stand. Something not to be missed is the Ken Fox Wall of Death stunt show, which will be making its Shelsley Walsh debut. As seen on Channel 4 with Guy Martin, the Fox family have been touring and entertaining since the 1920s with their Wall of Death. The riders perform incredible stunts and acrobatics around the 20ft vertical wall on their vintage Indian Scouts. The noise, the speed, the smell and the proximity of the bikes to the top of the wall – barely six inches from the audience – is breath-taking.
