JUNE 19TH (1991) PABLO ESCOBAR SURRENDERS TO THE POLICE
Pablo Escobar is the Beyonce of drugs.
He was responsible for so much of the illegal drug trade that he was one of the  most wanted criminals in the world.
Tumblr media
Although he ultimately became the most powerful drug trader in the world, he started off his criminal escapades by stealing and reselling tombstones from graveyards and stealing and selling other low cost items such as stolen stereos.
Imagine having the worlds most wanted drug trader be the guy who sells you a stereo.
After selling stolen stereos, he then went on to become slightly more of a notable criminal – doing things such as putting a bomb in a plane, killing 100 people. You know, just gradually moving up in the criminal world.
He conducted his drug trade ruthlessly - killing government officials, police and civilians in order to preserve his drug empire. This ruthlessness eventually caught the attention of the government who went on to arrest him later after he surrendered to them on the 19th June, 1991.
However this arrest was hardly a usual imprisonment, he was living in luxury in a private jail that was named “La Cathedral” which was equipped with a nightclub, a sauna, a waterfall, and probably a dedicated cocaine room (knowing him).
Pablo also continued to conduct drug trafficking business from his ‘prison’ and even ended up killing 2 cartel members there.
Tumblr media
These ruthless actions would eventually be his downfall, as plans were made (following these two murders) to have him sent to a higher security prison. Pablo didn't like the idea of this and so escaped before he could be transferred, trying to hide in Medellín, Columbia. This was probably the worst choice for a hideout place though, as he ran the ‘Medellín Drug Cartel’ , lived in Medellín and grew up in Medellín. Not exactly surprising that the police went on to quickly find him in Medellín, where they went on to fatally shoot him the day after his birthday.
He was estimated to have a net worth of $25 Billion and he achieved all this without even having to go to college or university. What a motivational entrepreneur and all round cool guy.

Hello! 🔫 26 yr old transmasc stoner dude looking for a pretty specific fandomless oc based mxm roleplay over discord!
The basic premise is two brothers (or cousins) running a drug cartel and are in love with each other. This will include dark themes such as incest, drug use, and violence. (This is heavily inspired by my current obsession with Narcos and Pablo’s relationship with his cousin.)
Muse A- My character. Leader of the cartel, and lets be real he’s basically Pablo Escobar but more incestual and more gay. He has a god complex, he makes the world go round in his mind. He has big aspirations of using his wealth to build a better life for the people who live in poverty where he grew up to the point of wanting to have political power. He’s super stoic expect when he’s beating the shit out of someone, and he needs Muse B for protection/brains (something we can fill out together and will be informed by your characterization of Muse B.)
Muse B- Your character. Muse A’s right hand man. He came from where Muse A came from, they’re both from the streets and have had a tough life, and he believes in creating a better life for his people like Muse A. He sees what Muse A is capable of and knows he’s the real deal (even if Muse A has some delusions of grandeur) while also having undying family loyalty to him. (Feel free to make this character your own and really fill him out!)
I’m cool with any length replies from a few lines to a few paragraphs. My replies are usually 2-4 paragraphs but I wouldn’t mind doing shorter replies at all.
I work and don’t have the capacity to reply as consistently as I would like so please be patient. If I take longer then 3 days to reply feel free to bug me!
I would also love to have a personal friendly relationship with you and talk about ourselves and share playlists/pinterest boards/art with each other!

'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' may be one of the best parody movies ever. So much so, Weird Al may be known more for this movie than his music career.
I am trying to make this as spoiler free as possible, because it goes EVERYWHERE, but...god damn. I was laughing at...the weirdest times. He made a movie about himself that...never happened. But here's my favs. SPOILERS still tho.
1-The news interrupting a presidential speech for weird al having a TMZ type incident. They would probably not even do that for the queen, may god have absolutely no mercy on her soul. But for WEIRD AL? THAT'S hilarious.
2-The movie being narrated by one guy, weird al played by 3 different actors thru his life, weird al voice dubbed every singing scene, then weird al played a record producer in the movie AND showed himself in the old videos of his songs? It's like meta to the 7th power.
3-It went off the deep end in the 3rd act, but as I said on a previous post, if they were gonna do a parody of the innocent guy who made parodies...you go all out. Just...him killing Pablo Escobar? NOT on my checklist of things I expected to see. Both WTF and 'haha. okay. Whatever. Roll with it.'
4-The running joke of them never knowing what they made at his dad's factory (YOU NEVER FIND OUT). It seems like a joke, but to me it goes deeper on the whole (cuz his dad saw someone die, and personally lost a hand at the job) how we will do mindless, pointless, dangerous jobs, have little to nothing to show for it, and never question if what we are doing has any true value or meaningful impact on the world.
5-Weird Al originally coming up with eat it (and later on Amish paradise), michael jackson parodies weird al's song, and then the world sees al as...bigger than any star in all of human history (they do a scene where every song on the radio is him. That would freak me out). I think that's why we love this movie's shoot for the moon: we all know weird al in real life is a funny, smart, sweet, humble guy who...probably isn't even that rich, honestly. So...make him a stupid rich egotistical mega star, and see how that would play out? I mean, the shit in his mansion alone stroking his ego was so cheesily done, you almost would hate any celeb that could get close to it in real life. It's...tasteless. No one has a bust of their own head that...isn't from Rome.
I found this movie perfect because it was NOT perfect. There was many cheap laughs, mean attitudes for nothing but someone to provoke the others, and so many 'there is no fucking way that got close to happening' bull shit scenes, it was a mess story line wise. It was...weird al's fever dream of what his life could have been. BUT knowing weird al wrote it, helped craft it, and NONE of it as it is portrayed <at all> basically happened made it a wild ride of just...fun. You have to like weird al, know his past, and his sense of humor, but if you got all those 3, you'll love this movie. It's clearly his baby.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story: One of the few times IMDB gave it a fair score. 7.2. I would say 7.4.
ps-fav part? The ending. I mean, it wasn't the funniest nor had the best lines (there were some fucking amazing one liners in this movie) but....I stayed in the credits, writing this whole thing, JUST in case they did a mid/post credits scene. They did. It was art. MEGA SPOILERS.
Madonna is now a world renown scarred drug lord, visiting weird al's grave (she had him killed: told you it goes fucking bonkers) and, like the famous ending of the original carrie, his hand comes out from the grave and grabs her. I am sorry, but there's SO much to unpack there, it...ya gotta watch it to understand HOW THE FUCK this movie got to where it did. They basically just said 'we're gonna...do whatever we want, whenever we want, and figure out later how to tie it together later.' And somebody wrote a check. lol I've seen a lot of bad movies; this ain't one of them. It's...different....and to be on the nose: weird.

✝️ The incredible meaning and inspiration behind the cover art of Kanye West's "The Life of Pablo". (2016) TLOP has always been seen by fans as an album with a mysterious and different aesthetic compared to everything Kanye had done so far. This is complemented by its messy artwork, which at first glance seems to be another crazy Kanye idea, but in reality has a much deeper meaning. First of all, why was the album called The Life of Pablo? The name "Pablo" alludes to 3 personalities that have been crucial characters in the history of mankind, which are related to 3 key concepts that Ye associates with the life of each one: the message of Saint Paul (San Pablo in Spanish), the product of Pablo Escobar, and the art of Pablo Picasso. Designed by Petter De Potter and possibly inspired by Madonna's cover for her 2003 single "Nothing Fails", the TLOP artwork has several elements that explain Ye's relationship with these 3 characters. The "Which / One" phrase that can be seen on the orange canvas of the artwork, refers to the doubt between which way Kanye is trying to follow. The first photo where we see several people at a church, is a photograph of Kanye's parents wedding, which points to the lifestyle associated with St. Paul, a path in which Ye wants to raise a family and live a life based on the rules of Christianity. While in contrast, the photograph of model Sheniz Halil represents a life of drugs, women and temptations associated with the life of Pablo Escobar. But how Is Pablo Picasso referenced if there Is only two pictures in the artwork? Pablo Picasso's life is represented by the entire image of the album, implying that the album is seen by Kanye as a masterpiece made by himself. The three Pablos come together in ONE person: Kanye himself.

Burning Through Money
No one could spend money like Michael Jackson. His mansion in California had a personal zoo and amusement park that cost him $5 million a year just for maintenance and staff. Over the course of his life, he made 1.1 billion dollars, but he spent it all and then some. He died being hundreds of millions of dollars in debt.
While Jackson was famous for burning through money, some people have been known to actually burn money. Cocaine kingpin, Pablo Escobar, was at one time the 7th richest man in the world and was making 420 million dollars a week. Like Jackson, he was also a big spender with lavish houses and his own personal zoo. The final year of his life was spent on the run from police after escaping from prison. During this time, he once burned 2 million dollars in cash to make a fire to warm his daughter.
At about the same time in the early 90s, British pop stars Bill Drummond, and Jimmy Cauty of KLF also burned money. KLF was a hit band in the late 1980s and 1990s. While they couldn’t hold a candle to Jackson in earning power, they made good money.
After four years, Bill and Jimmy retired from the music business to become artists. They had 1 million pounds left from their career as musicians. Their first work of art was taking that 1 million pounds and nailing it to a frame. The art world was unimpressed, so they decided to burn the money. In July of 1993, they went to Scotland, and one by one, they burned 1 million pounds worth of 50-pound notes. They actually burned about 900,000 pounds, while about 100,000 pounds blew up and out of the chimney. Villagers found partially burned notes around the island.
In an interview in 2004, Bill says that some days he thinks back and regrets it, but other days he doesn’t.
The reason why they did it is still unclear. Bill says, “It was more for other people to take from it whatever they wanted, whether it be ‘they obviously didn’t do it’ or ‘it’s a terrible thing’ or whatever. It’s for other people to explore.”
While most people probably think they were crazy, they did have their admirers. One newspaper writer said they “may not have changed or challenged much, but they have certainly provoked thousands to question and analyze the power of money and the responsibilities of those who possess it. And what could be more artistic than that?”

Term Project Illo 3: The Life Of Pablo is a Life of Parody
Creative Concept:
I had an avid interest towards modern celebrities and artists who depict themselves as these past famous and controversial villains or public figures personas. So I decided to choose the topic Parody to mock Kanye West who recently had a mental breakdown where he believes he has lived the life of notorious drug criminal Pablo Escobar.
Description:
Following from last week's illo I wanted to use another public personality in the music industry who has been making a lot of controversial takes and decisions on topics. Kanye West may be one of the best musicians produced in the 2000s and 2010s but lately, he has had a mental breakdown due to his bipolar condition. His music doesn't disappoint though. In his studio Album The Life of Pablo, he portrays himself as this visionary just like how Pablo Picasso was a pioneer in the art movement of Cubism. But my take on it was to poke fun at him and portray him as this notorious controversial drug criminal Pablo Escobar. I decided to do the paper tear effect where it shows a picture of Kanye West initially but someone decided to tear the poster to reveal the true identity and meaning of the Life of Pablo he means. I used various film grain and half-tone effects for the edits to my image. I added 2 competition typefaces on different ends of the spectrum sans serif and a serif decorative type. Giving is a traditional yet modern-looking posterWhich is kind of a satirical take on a famous Public persona.
THE LIFE OF PABLO WAS THE BEGINNING AND END OF KANYE WEST
APP: Photoshop
Type: Helvetica and Amador
