Machu Picchu, Peru
Tumblr media
Located high in the Andes Mountains, Peru’s Machu Picchu is believed to have been an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti. This 'Lost City of the Incas' is a cultural symbol that represents the memory of an entire community. Cultural and historical wonders like Machu Pichu, the Pueblo Indian dwellings of Mesa Verde, the Taj Mahal, the Great Pyramid of Giza, and the Parthenon are among some of the most celebrated monuments of the world, each giving us an opportunity to look back at the cultures that came before us and preserve their memory for future generations.

Ollantaytambo, Peru: Ollantaytambo is a town and an Inca archaeological site in southern Peru some 72 km by road northwest of the city of Cusco. It is located at an altitude of 2,792 m above sea level in the district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba, Cusco region. During the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti.. it is now an important tourist attraction on account of its Inca ruins and its location en route to one of the most common starting points for the four-day, three-night hike known as the Inca Trail. Pisaq National Archaeological Site, Cusco Region, Peru. The agricultural terraces in the foreground may predate the Inca empire, while the complex on the peak was probably built during the reign of Pachacuti Inca as a royal residence, a temple, and an outpost guarding the Sacred Valley from invasions from Antisuyo, the wild eastern jungle quadrant of the Empire. Taken by me, May 2019.
