Ghoul favorite food HC 👀
thank you anon for the ask!! (THIS TOOK FOREVER PARTS OF THE DRAFT KEPT GETTING DELETED AND I ALMOST THREW MY PHONE AT THE WALL!!!)
Tumblr media
———————————————————————
The Nameless Ghouls and their favourite foods!!
Tumblr media
Aether
• BANANAS!!!!
•He definitely has a sweet tooth, more leaning towards natural sugars than artificial sugars but either he loves.
•Aether is most likely to be caught in the ghoul’s kitchen shoveling grated cheese into his mouth at an unholy (heh) hour at the night.
•Even though he loooooves bananas, he despises banana flavored candy.
Mountain
•He will absolutely fuck up a caeser salad. If you were to give him a salad on a paper plate he would get too excited and eat the plate too. :’)
•Like other Earth Ghouls he is a vegetarian of course.
Rain
•Just like Copia he absolutely loves pasta, from ravioli to rigatoni to fettuccine he will absolutely fuck up whatever pasta you put in front of him. He will inhale any noodles within the ministry grounds, whether they’re cooked or not.
•You know how wolves get territorial over well, territory? Rain gets territorial over pasta. He once pushed Sodo down a flight of stairs when he found out he ate his almost week old spaghetti.
•Rain is quite the talented chef, hanging around Terzo when he was cooking he managed to get some lessons from the former Papa. Days when he misses Terzo the most he’ll cook some of the meals he was first taught how to make, just to reminisce on the memories and feel closer to him.
Sodo
•He loves spicy and sour food, or anything with some kick for that matter, but he has some of the most sensitive tastebuds out of the ghouls, hell, even out of everyone in the ministry.
•Whenever he does eat spicy food, he always has a glass of milk nearby, despite Cirrus telling him that its better for him to drink water.
•Sometimes he uses sour candy to ground himself whenever he’s especially stressed, whether it be one of the ghouls that’s getting on his nerves, or touring he always keeps a bag of sour patch kids with him, or for more stressful times of the year he’ll keep some warheads in his pockets.
•In terms of cooking? He cannot cook. Sodo has almost burnt down the ministry a couple times trying to cook. Did he once he make cupcakes that were so burnt that they made Rain throw up? We’ll never know. 🤫
Swiss
•Swiss isn’t exactly picky when it comes to food, he’ll most likely eat anything you put in front of him.
•Although he’s fine with all food, he has a special place in his heart for international food, it could be sushi, ramen, mole, enchiladas, paella, or pad thai, but when he’s done eating it he might take a couple bites of the plate too.
•He can cook very well, being able to make some of the meals listed above. Learning some of his best recipes from Rain he always tries to linger around the kitchen when the water ghoul is cooking, just to get more ideas and what not.
Cumulus
•Like Aether she has one of the biggest sweet tooth of the group, having a particular love for chocolate. She looooooves chocolate waffles not really caring whether they’re pre made or not.
•She is incredible at making desserts, especially cookies. It’s like taking a bite of heaven (ironically). As much as she doesn’t make them, Sodo and Aether are big fans of her mexican wedding cookies.
•Just like Special Ghoul brings toys, she makes pastries and goodies for the orphans in the ministry, bringing them year round. She’ll sometimes bring Copia to tell the kids some of his lighthearted stories from his time in the orphanage.
Cirrus
•She’s a big lover of seafood, her two favourite dishes being salmon patties and tuna melts.
•Although she is an air ghoul she does love restaurants or anything for that matter by the sea. Cirrus thinks it’s very relaxing to just enjoy the ocean because how it’s an entirely different world just a few miles out.
•This ghoulette is mainly in charge of keeping Sodo out of the kitchen to prevent any disasters that may or may not burn down the ministry.

Hope you enjoyed anon and whoever else is reading this! Happy late new years! <3 (once again sorry for how long this took)

Thank you to @rebelrebelwrites and @jurassiclexie for tagging me! It was great to learn a bit more about you both 🙂
Relationship status: Married to the partner for 18 years. Got married really young but he’s still my best friend, so that works out. I always go with partner rather than husband even though it confuses the hell out of my family and coworkers but we’re both queer and it just feels right somehow 🤷🏻‍♀️
Favorite Color: Black usually paired with some irritatingly cheerful color lol
Song Stuck in My Head: “Stay Out of It” by this awesome little indie group called Michigander. Just saw them play recently and they were fantastic live
Last Song I Listened To: Lavender Haze (Acoustic Version) by Taylor Swift. Not bad all things considered but kind of surprised this was the last song I listened to and that it wasn’t Hozier since him and Lana Del Rey are my go-to fic writing artists
Three Favorite Foods: Sushi by far (an Alaska roll with salmon and avocado), Pad Thai, and Kimchi
Last Thing I Googled: NBA Playoffs Schedule because my beloved Atlanta Hawks are in a desperate struggle to stay in the playoffs as the scrappy underdogs. I never thought I would ever care so much about grown men running back and forth and throwing a ball in a hoop but once I clued in to all the dramatic backstories and the emotional investment of the players with each other and with a game they love and the importance it has within the city? I’ve been all in.
Dream Trip: I would love to go to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island because I was a huge Anne of Green Gables fan as a kid. Otherwise, I really want to take partner to see Norway because Bergen and Trondheim were the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen and were very similar to growing up in the Pacific Northwest of the US.
Thanks again for tagging me!! I think some of you may have already done this possibly, but I’ll tag @klynnvakarian @demonscantgothere @scriberated @thrillofhope @myfavouritelunatic @hazelmaines because you’re awesome and I am honestly curious/nosy lol

MICHELLE favorite vegan version of something which is BETTER than the original?
OHhhh what a hard and easy ask. I find a lot of vegan foods equally good. we've come so far and there are so many ways to make great vegan meals but, I gotta admit, cheese and milk products still have a bit to go to measure up. But I'm sure they'll get there. Like, I want good vegan paneer please thank you. BUT: I think things like boba are always better with soy or oat milk, We have this great vegan thai that makes my FAVORITE pad thai. Their seitan is out of this world and no meat would be better. Vegan nuggets taste the same so they taste guilt free and therefore better haha. okay gotta stop but I swear I had anything meat/fish as a vegan variant and often liked it a lot. Vegan raw and cooked salmon that was insane???

I recently crashed at my old college friend’s place during a brief San Diego visit. This book was hanging around a table or shelf, and I picked it up for the look of it, but immediately felt something familiar in the author’s name. “Adam Gnade? Wasn’t that the radio station guy…that guy who gave us access to the TV studio?” [edit: No, it was not. That was a different dirty-blondish Adam with musical enthusiasms and hungover eyes.] Flashbacks of two freshman nerds broadcasting Pulp and Blues Explosion videos, interviews with random friends, and Titanic, after midnight to maybe a handful of dorm-dwellers. My friend suggested that my correct pronunciation of the name most likely affirmed the sameness of author and college radio guy [edit: It did not]. The author photo was confirmation proved memory’s false and elastic nature.  None of this is important. I managed to read the first chapter before hunger and nostalgia attacked and we went wandering down El Cajon boulevard, which in my 20+ year absence had grown slick and neon and unfamiliar, hotels and high rise apartments and restaurants pustulating the landscape, but none of this is important because we had really delicious spicy tofu larb or something like larb, and pineapple sour beers at a Thai street food place, and the next day I walked from North Park to Hillcrest to eat at Bread and Cie, where I betrayed my own nostalgia and impulse to just order a slice of fig and anise and a slice of olive bread with butter and a pot of Earl Grey, instead ordering a bougie smoked salmon sandwich and a stupid puffy cappuccino. It was fine and none of this matters, but I felt so fat with disappointment I had to walk past the old Che kid apartment above The Loft (which seemingly never tired of playing Cher’s “Life After Love,” and perhaps never has), where somebody’s friend would leave a black garbage bag full of Bread and Cie bread on the concrete patio after all his night shifts. Even though the patio now has a fancy wrought iron fence around it, I could see weird posters and candles shoved into wine bottles on the window sills, superficial signs of interesting inhabitants, and I smiled up into the tiny windows of the $150 a month closet I’d lived in, where the cats would ninja-kick through the weak wooden slats of my sliding door and once or twice relieved themselves on my bed which was not a bed, which was two stacked egg crate foam pads. Why didn’t I buy a mattress? I spent way too much of my early twenties without an actual mattress, and I can’t remember why I was that cheap. None of this is important. Especially in regards to this book, which I bought and quickly devoured, finishing it on Christmas Day in the worst place to finish a good book with this much food-nostalgia—the Hertz rental car office at Newark Airport, where I was stuck for 2 hours with only a day-old peanut butter and honey sandwich in my purse (#momlife) to sustain me. You pretty much need to be reading this book in your favorite taqueria/diner/dive with your mouth full if you don’t want to hate yourself and your situation.
I guess what I’m really getting at, what "After Tonight, Everything Will Be Different,” is really getting at, is that all of this is important and all of this matters. These moments you live and forget about until someone like Adam Gnade revives them through familiar or relatable experiences...childhood bliss and trauma...friends of the charming dirtbag variety...rumination on films, books, albums, family, dirtbag friends, meals (especially meals) and so on. The novel (I had to check the back cover several times to confirm it was a novel, so much of it feels like memoir, like personal essay, but maybe that’s me projecting “radio guy” assumptions onto the narrator) will fuel your appetite and your nostalgia such that you’ll go meandering down your own food holes, your own sordid and beautiful youthful experiences, and that’s a hell of a thing. There’s an amazing line about nostalgia that I sadly cannot quote because I gave the book to my sister-in-law, but you should go dig it up yourself.
“Thoroughly enjoying this.” Quote and book photo by aforementioned sister-in-law. College photo Halloween 1997 by somebody’s roommate, Argo Hall, UCSD, cellblock K-8.

Vancouver, Thursday Aug 4
Today began with swift activity because we slept-in and had to rush to meet the day’s agenda. After a quick ablution we headed out to find a close cafe for breaky. The closest turned out to be a vegetarian, vegan affair which we decided to try. Bernie had a fruit compote which she gobbled up, while I had a black bean roll, which while tasty had unfortunate effect later during our bus trip.
We made it in time to catch the coach to Granville Island, a major tourist location. We were going not just because of the markets, but mainly because we were booked on a food tour. The market is the second most visited locale in Canada after Niagara Falls so we wanted to see what the attraction is. Our small group of food lovers were guided by a lad named Freddy (from Indonesia) and we visited vendors in the market and got to sample from each of their stores all sorts of delicacies. Starting with artesian made sourdough of various flavours, we moved on to a cheese vendor and sampled many expensive cheeses. Then to locally cured meats, me especially liking the elk salami a tad more than the bison. Then in the seafood store my favourite was the maple cured smoked salmon, very sweet and tasty. We even got some pad Thai noodles in a Thai stall, chemically made flavour drops from a chemistry student and chocolate of delicious flavours at a chocolate artisan. Then macarons from a French patisserie. Then a brewed coffee from the JJBean shop closely followed by a honey donut from the donut shop that featured in some Netflix series. Hugo and Norah who are usually light eaters had no problem devouring all these delicacies. By this stage it was time for lunch but no one was interested so we toured the various market stalls and made quiet fun of the ways of the tourists from the USA.
After all this it was a bus back to our lodgings where Hugo and Norah were keen to have a swim after all that food, so Bernie and I went on a walk to Robson street shopping area.
For dinner we went back to Gas town, near Maple-tree square to a Greek restaurant called The Greek by Anatoli, where in we had very tasty Greek food and Aaron and I, a pint of Greek lager. With all that activity we haven’t many photos except one of a giant seagull who peaked at our window after a feed. Unfortunately the windows don’t open. But interesting is the size of seagulls here. They are the size of chickens, quite big, much bigger than Australian midget ones.

How To Make Peanut Butter Chicken When You Are Studying Abroad
Buy
Chicken, mostly to make box pad thai, but you'll have half left over.
Green onions (seem like a good topping), also mostly for the pad thai.
Tomatoes, two weeks ago, for salad. You did not make a salad.
Lemon, one week ago, to make salmon. You skipped the lemon.
A three pack of onions, two months ago. You will only need half an onion.
Rice-- nevermind, you always have rice.
Peanut butter, duh.
Coconut Milk! You're making it fancy this time!
Cook
The chicken expires today, so this is what you are making for lunch. NO MAKING OTHER PLANS.
Heat the oil, on medium high. Chop the onion, and some leftover garlic. Also a green onion, even though that's not on the recipie. Get down ground ginger. It's cheaper than buying fresh.
Toss the onions in, and stir until they get translucent. Add three cloves garlic, some ginger powder, green onions. Also cumin. You're supposed to add chili oil later, but you definitely don't have that, and cumin is the "spiciest" spice you have. (you own three spices). Stir.
After a minute or two dump in the raw chicken. lay it out so it can cook for-- 3-4 minutes???-- nope, absolutely not. What? Oh, you're supposed to simmer this with a lid for like 20 minutes. You have one pan. It does not have a lid. Cook the chicken until you can't see pink through the skin.
Add-- oops, you were supposed to have ketchup. Oh well.
Add an amount of chopped tomato. Also add like three tablespoons of peanut butter and a teaspoon of brown sugar. Do not add chili oil because you do not have any. Stir.
This does not have enough liquid. It is going to burn.
Add three teaspoons of white wine leftover from when you were making ramen and could not find sake at the grocery store; add a dash of fish sauce, also from the ramen making; this is also not enough; add a few shakes of soy sauce, and also some rice vinegar, both from sushi making experiments; might as well squeeze in some of that lemon juice now. Keep stirring the whole time. This is probably enough liqiuid for now.
Go to the pantry to grab your can of coconut milk. It's time to simmer. Oh. oh no. oh dear. You don't own a can opener. The cans of beans you had for lunch at the beginning of the semester came with pull tabs. You can probably donate the can or something.
Pour in an amount of the skim milk in your fridge that expires in three days anyways. You haven't opened it at all. Maybe you should buy some cereal when you make an emergency toilet paper run tonight?
Set the heat to low and go wash your dishes. Consider making rice. Remember that that takes like half an hour and your chicken will be done in an indeterminate timeframe that's probably less than twenty minutes. Remember to stir once every few minutes.
At this point the sauce is pretty thick and the chicken is pretty tender. It's been less than ten minutes, probably.
Serve yourself half the chicken. The other half is for dinner. You can probably make rice then.
Go to your desk to eat, and try really hard not to think about the lab report you should be writing right now.
It's delicious.
The chicken's gone in three minutes.
There's no way you will ever be able to replicate your own sucess.
