When Auntie Breya Johnson said "I want the next face of empire not to be a black woman," and Ancestor Zora Neale Hurston mused "All my skinfolk ain't kinfolk," THIS is what they meant. Many of our sisters and self-proclaimed feminists are turning their faces away from the freedom struggle and decolonization efforts of our world to fulfill a false dream of empire built on apartheid and antiblack violence.

The Jedi Order mainly being an institution about teaching makes me sad that we never see more "Jedi classes" outside of the popular ones like martial arts, healthcare and Force wackery.
Alongside basic language and science education etc there have to be at least some trade and college courses on offer, right? The Jedi need a bunch of their own people with law degrees. Proper pedagogy studies for future crèchemasters. Cooks. Managers. All types of engineers. Electricians. Accountants. Researchers. How many Jedi hold a doctorate or professorate? Because I think a large number of them do. Their databanks are filled with millennia of dissertations. You can still find Yoda's articles from 500 years ago and cite them in your history research paper.
The Order just having its own micro-economy going on and every member getting their own regular job education next to all the lightsaber swinging adventures... pls

so many thoughts abt how schewpid the jedi council is in kotor but also not sure if i should write abt any of them before i finish the game because it's entirely possible that i'm still missing some critical information,
#el plays kotor#blease blacklist that tag if u dont wanna see kotor spoiler stuff from me as i play the game#feels silly to warn abt spoilers for such an old game but. i only found out abt [redacted] a couple yrs ago#completely by accident. it didnt ruin my desire to finish the game and see how the story goes#but still. it did change the whole experience. and what if there r others out there who dont know yet. so. KOTOR SPOILERS AHEAD !!!!!#so anyway i was thinking. why would the jedi council send revan to find the star maps. when they strongly suspect that#the search for the maps was what corrupted revan and malak in the first place???#im assuming they want their new totally-not-revan padawan to succeed and stop malak????#and yet?? they didnt think to consider the possibility of revan falling to the dark side Again during this quest????#love how the jedi archivist/historian says the 'those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it' thing#and im just thinking. so true bestie. you should take your own advice maybe. lol. lmao even#like yes they've brainwashed revan but what makes them so confident that amnesiac revan won't go down the same path as before#wouldn't that be more likely even. because. revan does not remember their history.#and since they don't remember their history... they have nothing to learn from... and thus... could repeat their mistakes...#ok wait i just remembered that the historian gives amnesiac revan a lecture abt what revan and malak did#so yes they do get a history lesson to keep in mind and to learn something from.#but its still so...... the council has no way of being certain their master plan will succeed... they are taking a huge gamble here...#and sure capturing revan without wiping their mind was probably not an option to the council#bc revan would have simply refused to cooperate i guess. much easier to mold an empty mind :)#wow wow wow i hate the jedi order actually. yes the sith do these things too and also their color scheme is dark and thus they r Evil#but when the jedi with their light earthy tones do it its ok. because they are servants of the light. guardians of justice or whatev. sigh#also the council repeatedly warns revan abt the dangers of the dark side n how the force is so strong in revan n they need to be careful#and that they are 'willful and headstrong'. qualities that are potentially dangerous for a jedi to have. because Emotion Bad#and still the council just goes 'the warning signs are there but we have elected to ignore them :) surely it will be fine this time :)' ???#i think i need to stop thinking abt this its giving me psychic damage#there Must be something later down the line that makes this decision make sense. they cant be this stupif

Lindsay Ellis plagiarized a ndn author
This post isn't a callout and it's only my own post because the OP source I just learned it from, @neechees, doesn't allow rbgs at a certain point on that post.
After Hmbomberguy's expose on Illuminaughtii and James Somerton some people are giving a well deserved eye back to the leftube sphere that was kind of schism-d and held under scrutiny in what I feel was, a lot of the time, misinformed hate campaigns in response to genuine criticism; especially towards Lindsay Ellis who up left after she was canceled and hasn't returned to continuous video making publicly even after people have mostly agreed the hatedom directed for her Raya and the Last Dragon takes was stupid and was erasing actual SEA people's discussions of the culture. To hear and see a decent breakdown of that film's representation problems BEYOND the Ellis-parts because it's worth your wild regardless of if you've seen the movie, please watch the three part video series hosted by Xiran Jay Zhao.
To tl;dr the 2021 drama: people have held an ire towards Ellis for a long time feeling like her and her white-woman base talk over, steal, or just straight up don't apologize for their own racism towards women and ppl of color, and after Lindsay did a problematic by pointing out that Raya and the Last Dragon was like ATLA, people jumped on her.
Being both a longtime fan of Ellis and white as fucc, I personally feel like Lindsay kind of forgave herself and threw out the actual criticisms held against her every bit as much as people just kind of treated her like a punching bag. Or, to paraphrase @padawan-historian's old takes from then, they treated Lindsay like she was trying to be the ENTIRE conversation, not the start of one, and like every possible outcome that could happen over her videos was her fault personally. Some of Lindsay's loudest and nastiest 'critics' were, in fact, other white people or just people who have no good faith in addressing her fuck ups, like Lily Orchard, fe.
One 'Lindsay did a racism'point tho that I felt wasn't truly addressed in full though were claims by indigenous people that she was anti-native, especially in her videos about Twilight and Pocahontas, which yeah at the time I was very passive of you can 100% find post abt that. But then Neechees linked me to an article I, and I think a lot of other video essay-fans had never seen before. This article accused Lindsay of stealing half of her talking points on Disney's Pocahontas from theirs.
When people on the breadtube spectrum talk of Lindsay, even people who criticized her at the time. all kind of agree that the intensity of the backlash was uncalled for and, while not everyone agrees if her public silence is a 'canceling' or not, agree with her need to just take care of herself these days. For those curious, this is the article making this claim:
I am not saying you need to all unfollow and hate everything Lindsay ever touched, mkay? But I also genuinely hope that Lindsay addresses this+comes clean because holy fuck. Unlike Somerton, all I can tell you is I don't just 'believe Windsey wouldn't hurt nobody uwu~'. I am pretty certain that Lindsay care about the topics she covers, for whatever that's worth to say as another whiteperson. It's just that, like Contrapoints, I ALSO think she has a tendency to deflect criticism within that sphere and lump all her negative bagage together. This really sucks cuz not all of us are Lily Orchards or Vaush clones.
Most of us are/were casual watchers of Lindsay like we are Hbomber, Contra, Lady Emily, Folding Ideas, and ToddintheShadows (does he count as leftube idk?) and we really, genuinely don't want to believe that Lindsay stole from + refuses to listen to women of color when they call her out.
Where I like almost everyone in the leftoob analyst sphere that's ever growing and hopefully now weeding out Illumanaughtii-s and Sommerton-s of the world, there ARE controversies within the space that I don't agree with creators on. Some are dumb things like the exact takes Lindsay has about movies n shows that I just up and disagree with her on, Princess Weekes' proshipping apologia that I have LOTS of thoughts on. However, some matters are clearly personal and about maters that just don't involve me. Earlier this year, Folding Ideas and Lady Emily ctrl+alt+deleted some replies they made to Quinton Reviews, making clear that they very much still dislike him based on something that happened between Quinton, Lindsay and I think SarahZ. And by "dislike", I mean also still believeing his former editor over him on who was boundary pushing about who in their relationship. On the offchance any of those creators or their stans somehow see this, know that I'm not going to tell any of you guys how to feel about whatever Quinton did in private I'm not aware of; it's just that I also happen to believe Quinton on this issue and I don't like the guiltybyassociation mantra.
>>>>side note: I hate that every time someone says "I believe so and so after hearing their side now" ppl jump on the "you were just a stan from the beginning and never actually able to listen"-bs. Yeah, being more familiar with one creator over the other means there's bias, sure, but I kinda hate that that once held bias means you can't be held as any kind of source or form your own opinions. <<<
Big introvert vibes ahead: the thing about any big social circle of better-spoken people than you is they ALL seem like a scary meangirl's table from outside looking in. The kind that'll send goons after you with passive-aggressive "this is slander against me and I have the right to be upset abt it sorry if the stans eat you alive". They can also be made out by their fans to be harmless internet nobody's who YOU are at fault for getting mad and staying mad at cuz it's not like it matters on the internet and are clearly just out for drama and 'twofaced' yourself. I think the reality is the same thing that drives every community forward as well as drives them apart: these people are legitimate friends. They stick up for each other the same way we stick up for our personal internet friends whenever there's shit coming their way. The breadtube circle, whoever that is at this point, clearly know some shit we don't about themselves as much as they don't know shit about us and our true intentions. One of them has a platform and responsibility, where the other has power in masses and following them or not. We gotta all make the choices best for us.
Anyway. I guess, if any of the stuff about Lindsay ripping off that writer IS true, I really hope that she admits and apologizes for it. That's not cool to do to her indigenous audience, or even me, one of her white fans who expects actually allyship.

The “where did Yan Dooku come from” discussion got me remembering a few things from the Fandom of Yesteryear, so to date and humiliate myself, I thought I’d compile a couple funny remembrances from growing up in the era when the prequels were actively coming out. Some of these are probably widely known, but I thought I'd contribute my thoughts to fandom archeology for the sake of knowledge, of course.
For some reason, “who the fuck did Yoda even train??” was a huge, divisive question early in the prequel fandom. Everyone expected it to be Obi-Wan because of the “Jedi Master who instructed me” line in the OT. Then they introduced Qui-Gon. Okay, so Yoda probably trained Qui-Gon. Then they introduced Dooku. OKAY SO YODA PROBABLY TRAINED DOOKU. He calls him his Padawan ON SCREEN.  THEN THEY INTRODUCED FUCKING THAME CERULIAN.  Eventually it does all get sorted out - Yoda DID train Dooku in the official Padawan sense, and Thame’s role as “historian weirdo who trained Dooku sometimes” got cannibalized into Lene Kostana in the new canon.
Ahead of AotC, there was a lot of confusion about who would be the villain because Maul was ostensibly dead and Vader wasn’t fully cooked yet. There were rumors that the baddie in Episode II would be a hot evil lady Sith (I believe this was from some concept art that was floating around, which actually ultimately became Asajj!) Imagine our collective bisexual disappointment when we got Grandpa War Crimes instead?! Thankfully, we managed to get horny and weird about him too.
The ending for TPM was ruined for me before I saw the film because I read some sort of Padme’s journal book for children that was pre-released ahead of the film at a school book fair. I didn’t even BUY the book, I wasn’t a kid with book fair money! I read the thing standing, desperately, in the 25 minute period we were given to shop the fair while the people selling them glared at me! The hilarious thing was I’ve heard other people in the fandom mention this exact thing happening to them as kids with the exact same book. Why?! Why would they release a book like that?! This was one of the dangers of living back then. You’d be so stoked to go see TPM but your mom wouldn’t take you Because of Christianity and then you find out the character you’ve already spiritually bonded with fucking eats shit in the last scene and have to go cry in the bathroom at school??? THIS WAS MY LIFE.

For Ailin: 💤🌙🙊📎🌠
💤 SLEEPING - do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?
On normal nights, sleep comes to Ailin easier than breathing. Although she loves to meditate herself to sleep, often knitting during her meditation.
🌙 MOON - what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?
Prior to her brothers death and subsuquent acquisition of Fieysa, her greatest wish was to become the head archivist of the mandalorian section in the archives. Willing to do anything to achive it, she studied days and nights, vacations and holidays, sacrificing her social life much to the chagrin of her master.
All until her older brother, Tannon, died on a mission.
Having not spent much time with him, promising to hang out and explore the temple gardens with him once she gets knighted, she promises herself to be there for Fieysa as much as she can in Tannons place, promising to be like a second master to her.
Her greatest wish becomes protecting Fieysa, even if Ailin is only an archivist, she will protect her new little sister, even if it means the fall of the jedi... or just making sure Fieysa eats.
🙊 SPEAK-NO-EVIL - what is something your oc will refuse to stay quiet about?
The discrimination against mandalorian sources when it comes to their own history.
Especially after the war and events that transpired between a certain mandalorian goran and embassador, and chancelor palpatine, the republic and its historians are weary to look at mandalorian sources detailing their own history, only looking at the jedi acounts that were written through the subjective eyes of terrified and war torn jedi.
While Ailin understands the inherent unreliable narration of personal acounts in sources, she fights for the use of more mandalorian sources when in conversation of their history.
📎 PAPERCLIP - a random fact.
She is part of the padawan musical theatre group of the temple as a force technician. Using the force for "magical" transitions, stage props or costume changes.
🌠 SHOOTING STAR - if they could make any wish with no repercussions, what wish would they make?
She would wish for jedi and mandalorians to become one, or at least, be on good terms with eachother. Not only because of her wish to know more about sources being kept firmly locked on Mandalore, but also because her own family is very much intertwined and synonymous with mandalorians.

Does literally every swtor player post lineups of their legacy? Yes. Is this going to stop me from jumping on the bandwagon? Hell no.
Jedi Knight (Disaster Lesbian Space Nun) Nandaraza (Nanda Kylraza, telekinetics sage) should probably have been a Consular, but she just doesn't have the patience. Or the drive. No, instead she uses her telekinesis and mind-control powers to hurl rocks at people, and probably would have been a padawan forever if she hadn't passed her trials in spectacular fashion by hauling an entire Sith Lord in to face the Temple's justice. The good news: This got her knighted. The bad news: This also got the Sith Lord assigned as her padawan. Somehow, they both survived to defeat the Emperor, and then they got frozen in carbonite and had to do it again. Twice. After surviving all that, she's dating Kira. She likes Huttball, gambling, helping people, and amateur archaeology.
Sith Warrior (Autistic Lady Knight In Shining Armor/Only Sane Bitch In The Empire) Yaellia (Yaellia Quinn, carnage marauder) is the scion of House Ivros, a proud and ancient Sith line...which was founded by a slave, a bastard daughter of the House's patriarch only tenuously recognized by her father. Understandably, this has given Yaellia herself an extremely dim view of slavery and a rock-solid sense of honor, mercy, and noblesse oblige that comes as a complete shock to...well, most people. Including (especially) Malavai Quinn, even now that they're married with children. After being frozen in carbonite for five years and discovering the Empire was still just as awful, she joined the Republic on Iokath and has been a saboteur ever since. She loves spending time with her family, but she also gardens, cooks, podraces, and explores the secrets of ancient Force ruins with her bestie Talos.
Jedi Consular (Functionally A Priest, But Not A Very Good One) Evrard Briardionne (madness sorcerer) is what happens when a Chiss is exiled from her homeworld for using the Force, gets to Dromund Kaas, marries a nice local boy, has a son she teaches Chiss meditation techniques...and then dies along with her husband, leaving young Evrard a fresh Korriban Academy graduate who joined the Inquisitors to pay the bills while hiding he was about as Dark as an overcast day. He proceeded to half-ass his job as much as humanly (Chissly?) possible before deserting for the Jedi, where he now puts his mental manipulation and impressive connection to the Light to use as a healer. He is much, much more devoted to this than he ever was to the Sith. Shame about all that Force Lightning, though. And the fact that his boyfriend's a Darth (Nanda's padawan; the Jedi thing uh...did not take). When he's not working, he likes drinking, gardening, and curling up with a good datapad. He is supposed to have white hair, but alas.
Sith Inquisitor (Manic Pixie Dream Girl With A Knife And Trauma) Ritanelle Sunveil (lightning sorcerer) is not a Sith and might electrocute you for calling her one, but is nonetheless Sith-trained; born a slave on an Imperial colony, she worked in Korriban's mines for some years before her Force sensitivity expressed itself. Now her chains are broken, and she's determined to make it her former masters' problem. Her boyfriend being an Imperial agent is the only thing keeping her on that faction. During the KOTFE timeskip, she makes a name for herself freeing slaves and slaughtering Hutts; joining the Alliance was a fun break from that which also helps further her absolute hodgepodge of Force training. In her free time, she's a big holovid junkie, amateur historian, and highly experimental chef.
Smuggler (Alien Han Solo But Angry) Jaiyu Kylraza (sharpshooter gunslinger) is a simple man. He loves credits, freedom, and not being beholden to anyone. He hates the Empire and all that it stands for. Accordingly, much of his fuel is burned shuttling refugees and supplying resistance groups. He's a distant relative of Nanda, which--following her first defeat of the Emperor and her resulting fame--has become something he also hates. Fame is bad for his less...legal businesses, mostly various forms of spice. He spends a lot of his off time drinking, carousing, and gambling. His lekku are definitely at least three times as long as the sad ingame stubs.
Bounty Hunter (Good, Bad, I'm In It For The Money) Rhiavi Spens (marksmanship sniper) was born on an absolute no-name one-speeder planet somewhere on the edge of Wild Space, and became a bounty hunter pretty much entirely for credits. And, alright, to get away from her seven older, more overbearing sisters. She'll work for almost anyone if the price is right, but there are lines she refuses to cross--a position which has oddly endeared her to an SIS agent who ought to be her next target. Currently, Yaellia Quinn's signing her paycheck. Her hobbies include droid repair, Corellian crystal tree bonsai, and sharpshooting.
Trooper (Mirialan Captain America) Corthak "Corrie" Bacard (gunnery commando) is a good man. This makes him a less-than-perfect soldier, particularly given how badly he wants to toss General Garza off a high-rise. Still, he serves the Republic with the utmost loyalty and leads Havoc Squad with a firm and caring hand. (He hasn't even thrown Tanno Vik out of the airlock yet.) He's happily married to Elara Dorne, and has four children with her. He likes barbecue and cheesy romance novels.
Imperial Agent (Sleazebag With A Heart Of Gold-Ish) Erasmus Westmoore (lethality operative) grew up on Balmorra. Then the Republic abandoned it, and he--holding a considerable grudge--signed up for ImpInt. It didn't take too long for him to realize what sort of people he'd agreed to work for, but he didn't care too much as long as they didn't find out about his under-the-table deals. It wasn't until learning that they were using chemical conditioning on their own people--including his partner--that he was motivated to quit. When he's not working (an act he does as little as possible) he parties and watches daytime soap opera holovids.
Bonus!
Smuggler Ras Westmoore is literally just my IA; he retired after the events of the class story, and now runs guns, drugs, spice and stims across the galaxy. He'll hook up with basically any species that looks like they're down for a fun time.
Sith Warrior (Socially Awkward Murder Puppy) Akhavesh (Akhavesh Qoyuwsar, rage juggernaut) is the Empire's Wrath. Having initially been granted the position seemingly out of nowhere following the defection of his predecessor, his swift, firm enforcing of his Emperor's will kept getting derailed by meeting Vette, Yaellia's "sister" and, Akhavesh believes firmly, the one bright spot in the galaxy. Nobody's surprised when they're married by the time KOTFE hits, except maybe Akhavesh who still can't figure out how he stopped stammering long enough to ask. Being flash-frozen for five years has given him more confidence, but it hasn't lessened his disdain for the Republic. Fortunately, he'd rather be playing with his pet tuk'ata than slaughtering entire city blocks. He's too chill for that.

Thinking again of the palpatwins au
Young Anakin really took offence to Sheev, a non-Jedi, knowing tidbits about the Jedi Order while Anakin didn't know anything and became an Archivist/Historian because of that and I have to respect that
And the fact that Anakin didn't loose his arm to Dooku but to a mission before Geonosis where he had gone with Jocasta to an old planet check for possible artifacts
(Jocasta had to deal with the lineage being angry at her for a while, she evaded them but was caught by Ki Adi and Cin)
He still gained his scar from a bathtub though
Also Ahsoka is Plo's Padawan in this universe
And Dooku didn't fall and stayed in the order or maybe came back when the war started, still haven't decided, it was Sifo-Dyas who did
Also the fact that the clones were ordered by Sifo is a known fact between Jedi and Clones but kept secret from everyone else
It's a point of worry
(Very rarely do clones captured by Sifo manage to escaped or are rescued, all who do come back different)
Also Anakin met Blackout because he noticed that someone was putting the books in the wrong places and hunted Blackout down, right at the exact moment that Blackout was putting a book in the wrong fricking *section*
Blackout was charmed in 0.3 seconds
It took Anakin going on 5 dates that he hadn't realized were dates to realize he had feelings for Blackout
"Congratulations, you are the last person to know." Aayla Secura in a medbay post battle after Anakin had called her in the middle of the night in Coruscant
Blackout was very confused over why Anakin was so flustered the next day
He didn't mind the flowers
Shmi, who is alive, already had threatened Blackout before any date though
Cliegg and Beru are cleaning blasters behind where him and Shmi are drinking water
Owen is tending plants nearby
Shmi survived because with Sheev being a good person here, he had no problem signing off a secret order for some Jedi that the Order could spare with all the work they had to do and some "bounty hunters" to go free slaves in Tattooine shortly after Anakin ended up in the Jedi Order
(He also signed an order that made the slave trade much harder in the Republic, politicians and people were finally stopping being lazing and taking action instead of leaving everything for the Jedi to deal with while ignoring their Very Small Numbers)
Smi was freed much earlier thanks to this and is part of a small organization to help free and rehabilitate slaves as well as helping them after on Tattooine (which now has slowly become a free slave world with Jabba living elsewhere)
It's a slow process, but she and Cliegg go at least a few days once a month to help, Owen and Beru too if they manage to leave the farm
(Shmi and Cliegg met by chance on the market after Shmi was freed in this universe)
Also Shmi might have moved into the temple with Cliegg after the scare of the Tuskens/Ghorfas hired by Sifo, maybe not, still haven't decided
Also her house and later on the Lars' farm became a safe heaven for any Jedi who was on Tattooine
Sheev is also trying to work on clone rights, but so far only managed to get them time off and some money given to them but not a lot of rights
Side note, Anakin has a long pony tail in this universe
And is dating Blackout while Padmé is dating Sabé

Revolution is not a romantic sentiment. Revolution is not an intellectual thot exercise (yes that kinda thot). Revolution is not the root, but the result of mass suffering and death that is met with silence and non-action.
Revolution is a dream and nightmare that refuses to die quietly.
The ancestors are watching from Guatemala and Gaza to Atlanta and Haiti 🖤✨️🌿

This may be a hard question, but who do you think embodied the worst toxic aspects of the Jedi? My picks would be Mace Windu, Ki Adi Mundi and Luminara Unduli
I'd have to do a canon review on those guys to make any kind of ranking.
Mace? Nah. I don't really see him as a toxic fellow. Samuel Jackson just makes a career of playing Scary Black Dude and that rubbed off the wrong way, making Mace seem colder than he actually is. Mace is just a guy who had the unpleasant task of being the one who enforces The Rules. The Rules are there for some very logical reasons, whether or not you agree with them. I see bits and pieces of him being a sweet guy when there's not some hot mess in progress and totally want to see more of that.
Luminara? Yeah. Her clueless handling of the Martez sisters was not earning any points. Thoughts and prayers are...okay, intentions are good and mere giid intentions are not exactly helpful in their situation. And writing off her Padawan as dead without so much as looking? Something was very, very wrong if she couldn't even try to *sense* if Bariss survived. Shouldn't there be some kind of Master-Padawan bond? And if that's missing, was she capable of connecting to anyone at all?
Mundi? Oof. A harem of wives, a gaggle of daughters and not even a child support check. Don't send this guy to deal with the Mando'ade. They have a *very* dim view of absentee fathers. (Translation: Shoot on sight) Probably a good call on Disney's part to dial back on that.
Now if you want a complete and utter "industrial waste dump caught on fire" toxic? Gotta go Legends and Old Republic with Master Atris. Atris was a fantastic deconstruction of how an obsession with hunting monsters makes someone into the monster they fight.
She was a Jedi Master and historian in an era where they'd suffered through three catastrophic conflicts, two directly caused by fallen Jedi turned Sith. She became obsessed with "never again" and wanted to rebuild the Order in her ideals of "purity" - training Force resistant guards with fanatical loyalty to her who could kill anyone showing signs of straying. It was implied heavily that she set up the other Jedi (already few) into a trap to be killed so she wipe out any possible taint and could rebuild from ground up. Oh, and the room full of Sith holocrons, ostensibly so she could know the enemy and know how to destroy them utterly.
Yeah. She ends up locked in her room of crazy, fallen to darkness over her obsession with destroying Sith.

It does annoy me that people are saying that Adrien doesn’t have feelings for Ladybug anymore but that’s not true. He still calls her M’lady. And in passion Plagg asks him “What about Ladybug?” And Adrien responds “Oh no Plagg she’s still wonderful.” So obviously he still has feelings for her but he’s just realizing that he may need to move on.

This is really short XD I just started on tumblr a month ago so there’s not much to see. But I will say even though I’ve only been on tumblr for a month I love it here. I don’t have a lot of people in my life with common interests as me but I feel like I belong here. I feel like I’ve found people who I can relate to. And honestly even after a month I’ve had an amazing time. Thank you so much.

Before I send in some fic recs, are there any ships/tropes/whatever you’d prefer not to see?
thank you for asking!
Yes, I'd prefer no clonecest or padawan/clone ships please. The main things that don't really vibe with me are Dark AUs, Modern AUs, Vampire Anything (I'm sorry, I just can't), and Historical AUs (I am a historian, I can do nothing but nitpick and I won't inflict myself upon these poor writers).
Otherwise I'm fairly open to most tropes etc beyond that. I'm cool with mature/explicit themes as well!

OSWC2022 - DAY FIFTEEN: Grimoire
Tumblr media
Fandoms: Star Wars Pairings: none Tags: fictional description of a grimoire and its contents; the POV is from a person without a specific gender.
"Sir, if I may…" - the commander's voice was wary, with a hint of fear latched in the depth of it. They stopped in their tracks, giving time for the commander to express his doubts. - "I know these are the dungeon of your own temple, but there is something in the air that makes my men nervous. Makes me nervous."
They nodded, understanding what exactly had made their soldiers so twitchy. - "These are the old foundations of the temple: so old that we have nearly no records of them despite our best efforts. Younglings and padawans are given express prohibition to come near: as you can feel, the Force here is nearly palpable, but it's not welcoming."
"Then what are we doing here, sir?" "This grimoire is the oldest written record of these temple's parts: it was written in a very old language, and most of the ink has washed away before our historians could make a digital copy. But if our translations are correct, there is something buried deep in here: something that the grimoire said could help if we Jedi were ever to face a war we could see losing."
The grim atmosphere intensified at the mention of the war: everybody wanted that blasted war to finish, but more and more soldiers died, more padawans were knighted early, and more power was coming into the hands of the Chancellor and the Senate.
"Let's go: we have more terrain to cover before we hopefully arrive."

WHY IS SATINE A PACIFIST?  A SHORT ESSAY   —   otherwise known as here goes kitty rambling again.  but in all seriousness, satine was not born into a pacifist household.  she wasn’t even born into a new mandalorian household.   instead, she was born in 56 bby to parents immersed in the old ways of their culture.  her father, head of clan kryze was widely known for his prowess in strategy and personal combat, her mother equally formidable.  from the beginning of her life, she was raised in every single one of those traditions...
but then her father died.
in any situation, this would be deeply traumatic, but the damage it inflicted was only deepened as her mother retreats into grief after witnessing the brutal killing first hand, clinging to their infant brother, and her twin sister into anger.  and satine, satine now finds herself the leader of a clan at six.  yes, six.
without a parent’s support, she floundered through the next few years, only surviving and, as best possible under the clan’s circumstances, thriving as a leader.  others within the clan instructed her and some outside of too lent their support, including clan merrik, who overall controled kalevala.
before she even came in contact with the new mandal.orians, the precocious aliit’alor questioned, often in private, occasionally in public, why their situation must be as it is, and the same for every mand.alorian.  but at age ten, after one of her clan introduced her to the concept of their people removing violence, and only violence, from their ethos and working toward channeling their many other skills, she never turned back.
still, she wasn’t a pacifist.  satine believed deeply in a more peaceful future, and that violence would be the death of her people.  but if necessary, she still held no issue with wielding her growing might when she must.  she fought with all the ferocity expected of a mand.alorian to defend her people, and quickly gained a reputation as fair and not apt to fight, but for many, woe if she did.
it was the civil war.
arguably, it began with the struggle between death watch and the true mandalo.rians, but many historians date it to the beginning of the wider conflict.  that was in 42 bby, after satine at fourteen rose to the head of the new man.dalorian faction and declared her intention to welcome anyone into their ranks who believed in a better future for their children.  the mass exodus which resulted infuriated the other factions, spiraling the whole into war.
the resulting fight was horrific, destroying what little non-sentient biological which remained on mand.alore.  so too burgeoned the sentient death toll, and even amongst some important victories for her faction, much of her opponents’ ire turned upon satine herself.  as she often could be found upon the front lines, leading her troops, it was easy to focus their attention.  without her, they believed her movement would crumble.  she struggled with her place, both as a leader, but also with the responsibility of so so many deaths.
after two long years of fighting, the situation worsened to the extent that the republic asked the jedi order to intervene.  she, like any good mand.alorian, wanted nothing to do with the master and padawan who appeared to protect her, but her council convinced her to agree.
the next year would see her fleeing the sector with qui-gon ji.nn and obi-wan ken.obi, but the conversations she had and relationship she formed with the padawan more than made up for the pain of it.  and with one final battle, at eighteen, satine found herself chosen leader of the man.dalore sector.  the impact of the entirety of her life nearly led to her having a breakdown when she no longer needed to fight, and after some thought, she declared her intention to rule as a pacifist.
to her shock, the majority of her people chose to join her.

A First Look
Tumblr media
The striking cover art hints at the dichotomy between power and vulnerability. Palpatine’s sinister visage looms large, while the fractured Death Star II serves as a stark reminder of the Empire’s ultimate defeat. Uncover a history of galactic evil. “So this is how liberty dies—with thunderous applause.”  —Senator Padmé Amidala When Sheev Palpatine declared the birth of his new Empire, he expected it would stand for thousands of years. Instead, it lasted only 24. This is the story of how a tyrannical regime rose from the ashes of democracy, ruled the galaxy with an iron fist, and then collapsed into dust. It is a story of war and heroes. It is a story of propaganda and the power of fascism. But most of all, it is a story of normal people trying to live their lives in the face of brutal dictatorship. From the barbarity of Darth Vader’s campaigns to the horrors of the Tarkin Initiative, this book offers new insights into the dark entity at the core of the Star Wars saga, with chapters covering economic strategy and political organization, propaganda, crime and punishment, military tactics, and warfare, giving even the most expert Star Wars fans a fresh perspective on the Galactic Empire.
