Thankful

When his therapist asked him to write things he was thankful about, Pai didn't know what to write on the paper.

Not because he wasn't thankful for the things he had but because what he was most thankful about wasn't a thing but meeting someone.

So when the therapist said he could write about anything when Pai asked him if he could write about someone, he didn't lose time in doing it.

He wrote and wrote about every little thing and moment he had with him, from their first meeting to what happened before the therapy session.

Itt, that was what he was most thankful about.

Meeting the other boy changed his life completely and made it much better especially because Itt never gave up on him and even fought for him when Pai's parents saw them kiss.

Pai had no idea what he would do without Itt in his life but he was sure that if he had never met him, that he would live a boring and depressive life as he followed whatever dreams his parents had for him.

"I will read this before our next appointment" the therapist says as Pai gives him the paper before they say their goodbyes and Pai leaves

Right outside the building, Pai sees his handsome and amazing boyfriend waiting for him.

"Itt!" he calls and runs to hug him

"Hey, love" Itt whispers as he hugs him back before softly pecking him "How was the therapy session?" he asks as they get on Itt's car

"It was nice" Pai hums "P'Tal asked me to write about things I am thankful about" he adds

"Really? And what did you write about?" Itt asks curious as he gets the car started

"You" is Pai answer

"Me?" his boyfriend asks confused and Pai smiles fondly at that because even after so long together, the other boy didn't realize how he had changed his life for better

"Yes, if I had never met you I wouldn't be as happy as I am now" Pai says and smiles as Itt blushes at that "Thank you for everything you have done for me" he whispers and quickly kisses Itt before the other starts driving

"You also helped me a lot too and I will always also be thankful to have met you" Itt says as he grabs Pai hand

They smile softly at each other before Itt goes back to driving and Pai talks about Pure and Folk finally deciding a date for their wedding.

Okay, hear me out...

My Gear and Your Gown Color Rush AU. Because I can.

So, Pai is a mono. He’s tried to just never think about it and ignore it and work hard instead. His vision isn’t great regardless and color just doesn’t seem worth it. And then he meets his probe. Who is his probe? He’d also like to know. Because he first sees him with his glasses off and has no idea beyond suddenly seeing colors.

Then he and Itt finally lock eyes in the club room. Pai, of course, faints.

... Shit goes down. Itt doesn’t care. Pai is absolutely determined not to care. The fainting is the worst part. Most of their arguments happen back to back.

Then, the offer. The club room if he can help Itt. Pai hates it. He doesn’t want this. None of it.

But he agrees. As long as Itt wears a mask. Because no. Itt doesn’t actually care about the tutoring but, whatever. 

Then the hospital happens and Pai always carries a mask and Itt wears it and they get to know each other and Pai... starts to realize that Itt is better than he pretends to be, that Itt really is someone he could care about. But he doesn’t know how to take back the mask or the distance.

(During all of this, Waan and Pure are causing trouble in the distance and they both seem to be neither of the above, neither mono nor probe, but it’s impossible to know until it happens, isn’t it?)

They get locked into the room. Itt falls asleep with his back to a still awake Pai. Who feels the other rolls over. And he turns over as well. Color rush, all the colors of the world but, more important, Itt’s bare face. Pai passes out staring at him in full color. Itt wakes up face to face with him and snaps a picture.

But then we get the big fight about the club room and blah blah blah and Itt rejects Pai and Pai, being the most passive man in the entire universe basically, lets him. What can I say, I still love him.

Cut to college! We get the same montages of Itt caring for Pai on and off as well as teasing him. But, this time, Itt is careful not to cause a color rush. He’s respectful. His teasing is actually nice and not basically bullying. He actually helps Pai.

... Okay, at this point I’m just rewriting the show. Done for now!

The parallels between Pai pushing Itt to study more through minor insults and a threat and Itt pushing Pai into the contest with insults and a threat is... rather nice, honestly.

I am sincerely looking forward to Pai being super open about how he doesn’t believe in love. It’s a great added dimension to all the relationships and makes more sense in the show than it does in the book.
