the church in the coptic monastery of the virgin mary in bethlehem, palestine. this unique church is built inside of a cave tunnel which connects it to the nearby church of the nativity. the holy family is said to have passed through it during their stay in bethlehem. saint helena, who established churches across palestine during her time, is said to have established this one as well. the coptic archbishop of jerusalem purchased this and four nearby homes in the 1950s, establishing the monastery and re-establishing the church. today, the site is maintained by two nuns.

Art by Ukrainian folk artist Tetiana Pata (1884-1976) from the village of Petrykivka (after wich the distinctive local art style of folk drawings was named). Petrykivka artists used drawings to decorate walls ans ceilings of the houses, furniture and sometimes clothes. The pictures are from the album printed in 1973. Scans are of good quality, so feel free to save the favs and zoom in as it's not easy to find such a quality while searching on Google.

Петриківські художники малюнком прикрашали стіни та стелю будинків, меблі, іноді одяг. Малюнки подано за виданням альбому 1973 року. one thing i think a lot of us including me are failing to sufficiently consider in our modern aus is that stede likes to break the law. as a lifestyle and hobby. like its not really a significant dimension of his arc since within the context of piracy crime is just normal but he did leave his wife and kids for a life of crime twice and he did get so excited conspiring with ed to not pay a restaurant bill that for a second his voice nearly ascended to a register that only other dogs could hear. i think stede would steal a horse off a carousel with the pole still through it and everything and then schlep it all the way up to their bedroom to surprise ed for his birthday. and ed would be genuinely touched to the point of happy tears

#ed uses it for an arts and crafts project obviously #as he does with all of the stolen property stede brings home #they’ve got a ‘trespassers will be prosecuted’ sign thats been painted over to just say ‘tres cute’#hole cut through the middle so it functions as a picture frame for a photo of the two of them that is indeed tres cute

Mo Dao Zu Shi!!!!!

Ahahaha, what can i say that i haven't said before? Actually, I'm not certain I've explicitly stated that I'm determined to make myself lavish single-volume editions of all my most favorite cnovels with lavish edge decorations, and mdzs has been a notable hole in my collection (my collection of two, lmao. and svsss deserves an edition with more extravagant decorations). So here we are!

I've adored this set of illustrations since i saw them, years ago, and i finally got ambitious enough with my pens to try to go for it. It was.... a lot of work. A lot. But it turned out so well I can't even be mad at myself! I wanted to get a good pair of thematic images, without having to draw too many faces at such low resolution (did i properly consider all those background lans and corpses? I did Not). These were high drama and a good pairing for the characters being at their stubbornest, lowest point. Never again! But I'm glad i did it XD

What else. This typesetting came in at 1360 pages, small text but very comfortable for my eyes. It's rounded and backed (probably the outside limit of what i want to round and back in a quarto book, honestly), and it has chiyogami endpapers and leather endbands. This time, i chose a contrasting shade from the spine leather and honestly LOVE the effect, I'll probably do it again.

This was a lot, but again, i absolutely love it! It might get a box soon, but i don't have plans now, so I'll post this as is and add to it if needed :D
