Dickie Duck and Gyro Gearloose - Ducks on the Road - Gift for my friend

Although I'm late, I certainly started a special with this that will last for the next two weeks on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays. And that of loving couples under the mistletoe, the Christmas plant under which you should kiss your loved one. :D

Yes, on December 18, 1966, writer and artist Romano Scarpa writes the comic "The Miner's Granddaughter", where Goldie's granddaughter Dickie Duck appears for the first time. Dickie is especially represented in the Italian and Brazilian comics and is very friendly. However, it has a special role in the 2014 comic Ducks On The Road, written by Teresa Radice and drawn by Stefano Turconi. Yes, in the times of the 1960s and 1970s when disco is emerging, Dickie, Daisy and Gyro form their own music band and go around the USA in search of fame. Of course, the dynamic between Dickie and Gyro is particularly significant. And that's why I drew them based on the model from that comic, as a couple in love. Dickie Duck

Created by Romano Scarpa for the Uncle Scrooge comics, Dickie Duck is the teenage granddaughter of Goldie O’Gilt and left in the care of Scrooge McDuck. She can be known as a product of the time she was created in, the 60s, and is rarely used today. She appears in her own comics in Brazil, where she is a journalism student at university and has her own supporting cast of characters. Sometimes, she still appears in Italian comics working as a journalist. Despite the fact that she was left in Scrooge McDuck’s care and that she calls him ‘Gramps’, she is not actually his biological granddaughter.

She has made one appearance in animation in an Italian cartoon called Topolino Show, during the 1980s and her comics are very rarely published in English, meaning she isn’t very well known outside of Italy or Brazil.

between ducktales reboot getting announced then starting and me following this artist on tumblr for woy art only to see them turn to disney duck art (mostly gladstone and recently magica) i have gotten a lot of hype about that

like i’ve grown up with disney stuff (here the comics are very common, a little less the cartoons, but i still managed to watch lots of those, from ducktales the original(tm) to darkwing duck n similar) and i read comics of those until around university (then i had to cut on expenses) so i’m just

incredibly happy

(my personal favourites are paperinik [uuuh the duck avenger? i think? in english], donald duck in general, fenton duck from ducktales, camera9 from the PK original series [not the reboot that was shitty], ok-quack and little gum and paperetta yeye, which i honestly wonder if they ever got translated anywhere, and also gancio from the 90′s strips and eega beega and the three caballeros, darkwing duck etc)

it’s not even just a blast from the past(tm) but simply melancholy mixed with happiness at seeing something that has been so PRESENT in my childhood returning now so that i can enjoy it

i don’t make posts about this, barely reblog anything but that’s cuz i don’t really follow anyone (other than that one person and one of my friends who is also hype about it, @kithandqin that’s you bab sorry for the mention) who posts about it, but like
